0:01:48 > 0:01:51But it isn't idyllic for everyone who makes the move.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07but her more challenging journey yet is on the horizon.

0:02:07 > 0:02:12While she's happy with a new career and life in the English countryside,

0:02:12 > 0:02:15husband, Andrew, has a very different outlook.

0:02:15 > 0:02:20He's convinced his family would be better off living in Australia.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22With a job offer already on the table,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25it's crunch time for the Cromptons.

0:02:25 > 0:02:26In just one week,

0:02:26 > 0:02:32can Andrew steer Gemma towards the life he's wanted for years?

0:02:32 > 0:02:35The family's first ever visit to Australia gets under way

0:02:35 > 0:02:38with just over 22 hours in the sky,

0:02:38 > 0:02:42flying from London to Brisbane with stopovers in Dubai and Sydney.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46And when they finally arrive, Andrew admits it's been quite a journey.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50It was pretty long, yeah, it was quite tiring.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52Trying to grab a few hours' sleep.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58Now he's here, Andrew's excited about the week ahead.

0:02:58 > 0:03:01It's really warm, I'm loving it. So, yeah, can't wait to keep...

0:03:01 > 0:03:03- See how... See what we get to go... - It's better than England.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06It's better than England. You're right. It's better than England.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09In your five minutes experience of Australia.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10And that's all it took.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Henry's onboard already,

0:03:12 > 0:03:17but Gemma's going to take a lot more work, despite the sunshine.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20It makes it a lot more appealing.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23But as far as moving my entire life here,

0:03:23 > 0:03:25then I still need to be convinced.

0:03:28 > 0:03:31As they take their first steps into Brisbane,

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Andrew knows where his family will spend the rest of their lives

0:03:34 > 0:03:36is anything but certain.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46Back in the UK, the Crompton family live in Fishburn, in County Durham.

0:03:46 > 0:03:50They're Dad, Andrew, Mum, Gemma, seven-year-old Henry

0:03:50 > 0:03:51and five-year-old Matilda.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56Andrew and Gemma met in the Royal Navy 15 years ago.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Andrew stayed on dry land while Gemma sailed the world,

0:04:01 > 0:04:04deployed to conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08Andrew then became a civil air traffic controller

0:04:08 > 0:04:12and after six years at sea, Gemma retrained as a radiographer.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17- Right, so we're going to make chocolate brownies.- BOTH:- Yay!

0:04:17 > 0:04:19Now parents to Henry and Matilda,

0:04:19 > 0:04:23Gemma loves being permanently on home turf.

0:04:23 > 0:04:24Having been in the Navy

0:04:24 > 0:04:27and travelled the world as much as I have, it made me really

0:04:27 > 0:04:31appreciate the UK and convinced me that I would say here forever.

0:04:32 > 0:04:33Yay!

0:04:33 > 0:04:37Not if Andrew has his way, though.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39Seeing an advert for air traffic controllers in Brisbane

0:04:39 > 0:04:43set him thinking about a new life on the other side of the world.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46He got in the car and said, "Australia are recruiting,

0:04:46 > 0:04:48"do you want to move there"?

0:04:48 > 0:04:50I said, "I'm not going".

0:04:50 > 0:04:53Despite Gemma's reluctance, Andrew went ahead and applied

0:04:53 > 0:04:57for the position and months later he's landed himself a job offer.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02I've been through all the testing that is required

0:05:02 > 0:05:04and as long as I successfully complete my training,

0:05:04 > 0:05:07then I will be accepted for the job.

0:05:07 > 0:05:12Andrew's now determined to put the country on Gemma's radar.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15Everything about it, it just screams,

0:05:15 > 0:05:17"this would be a great place to go to".

0:05:17 > 0:05:21The opportunities for the children as they grow up

0:05:21 > 0:05:24far outweigh the opportunities in the UK.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27We are outdoors people and being in a climate like Australia,

0:05:27 > 0:05:31that would afford us all the more opportunity to do that.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37The only thing standing between Andrew

0:05:37 > 0:05:39and the life he wants is Gemma.

0:05:40 > 0:05:45It's difficult knowing that Gemma is very happy with our life here.

0:05:47 > 0:05:48If you'd have asked me last year

0:05:48 > 0:05:52if I would move to Australia, I would have said, "Never.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54"I will never move to Australia"

0:05:55 > 0:05:58Gemma's happy with life in the UK.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00Dedicated to her new career,

0:06:00 > 0:06:03she's passionate about practising taekwondo at her local club

0:06:03 > 0:06:05and has a close knit group of friends.

0:06:05 > 0:06:09Convincing her to give that up will be a massive challenge.

0:06:10 > 0:06:14I don't know if I could make the sacrifices.

0:06:14 > 0:06:17I find it all very unsettling that I knew exactly

0:06:17 > 0:06:21where my life was going and I was going to work for promotion

0:06:21 > 0:06:24in the hospital I was in and stay there until I retired.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26Moving half a world away would also mean splitting Gemma

0:06:26 > 0:06:30from sister, Joanne, who she sees every day.

0:06:30 > 0:06:32And that prospect's already causing heartache.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38She has been extremely emotional about it.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44And out of everybody, she will be the one that's hard to leave.

0:06:45 > 0:06:46We're best friends.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53She makes me laugh and I can tell her anything

0:06:53 > 0:06:57and I can rely on her and she knows me inside out.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59And to be able to just turn up at somebody's house

0:06:59 > 0:07:01and have that is really, really special.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04The couple are at polar opposites

0:07:04 > 0:07:06when it comes to where they should be living.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09But Andrew's job offer means it's now decision time.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12In one week, Gemma will face an agonising choice

0:07:12 > 0:07:17between the life she loves and the one her husband's longing for.

0:07:17 > 0:07:19This opportunity is once in a lifetime.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22I think if we don't go now, we never will go.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25And I think if we don't even attempt to go we'll regret it

0:07:25 > 0:07:27for the rest of our lives.

0:07:27 > 0:07:32How do you choose between a life you love and the man you love

0:07:32 > 0:07:34and what he wants from his life?

0:07:42 > 0:07:44To find out where their future lies,

0:07:44 > 0:07:49the family are visiting Queensland in the north-east of Australia.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51Often referred to as the Sunshine State,

0:07:51 > 0:07:55it's the second largest and third most populated state in the country.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59Their temporary base is the suburb of Buddina,

0:07:59 > 0:08:03just over 60 miles north of Brisbane on the sunshine coast.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06But will their first glimpse of Aussie living be enough

0:08:06 > 0:08:07to get Gemma excited?

0:08:09 > 0:08:10GEMMA GASPS

0:08:10 > 0:08:11It's only got a pool.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13Wow.

0:08:13 > 0:08:19We've got our very own swimming pool. This is unbelievable.

0:08:19 > 0:08:20- Don't start crying.- I know.

0:08:22 > 0:08:23I just feel a bit overwhelmed

0:08:23 > 0:08:27cos I didn't expect anything this amazing and grand

0:08:27 > 0:08:29and, just, luxurious.

0:08:31 > 0:08:32Oh!

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Inside's impressive, too.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38This is the biggest front door I've ever seen in my life.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40Oh.

0:08:40 > 0:08:41Yes! Whoa!

0:08:42 > 0:08:44Oh, my goodness.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46What's going to be upstairs?

0:08:46 > 0:08:50I don't know cos all the bedrooms are downstairs.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52Its location may be surprising,

0:08:52 > 0:08:55but the main living area's an instant hit.

0:08:55 > 0:08:57Oh, my goodness!

0:08:57 > 0:08:59This is amazing.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01Isn't it?

0:09:01 > 0:09:02Oh, you can see the sea.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06With the beach on their doorstep,

0:09:06 > 0:09:09the family can't wait to feel the sand between their toes.

0:09:11 > 0:09:15Andrew's already feeling more confident about the week ahead.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17Yeah, I think we've got out the traps quite well.

0:09:17 > 0:09:21I think this was pretty much spot on the money for the start.

0:09:21 > 0:09:23I think it'll be a bit of a rollercoaster,

0:09:23 > 0:09:27but after today I can't see us going too far backwards.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29I think it can only get better.

0:09:30 > 0:09:33But despite her earlier enthusiasm,

0:09:33 > 0:09:37Gemma's already thinking about the decision she'll soon face.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Do I sacrifice their family

0:09:39 > 0:09:41and their relationships with their grandparents

0:09:41 > 0:09:43and my relationships

0:09:43 > 0:09:47to come and live somewhere sunny, you know? Is it that shallow?

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Or is this really a better life for us?

0:09:49 > 0:09:52And if the answer to that at the end of this week is yes,

0:09:52 > 0:09:54the answer will be easy.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56If I'm still on the fence at the end of the week,

0:09:56 > 0:09:59then it's going to be a much different question, I think.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08In the UK, home for the Cromptons

0:10:08 > 0:10:13is a modern, four bedroom, detached house in Fishburn, in County Durham.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16If Andrew can convince Gemma to make the move,

0:10:16 > 0:10:21their budget for a property in Australia is around £300,000.

0:10:21 > 0:10:26I'm hoping that if we did go the house would be less important.

0:10:26 > 0:10:30So, it would be more location, close to beaches, close to parks.

0:10:30 > 0:10:31Close to things that we can do.

0:10:31 > 0:10:35- As long as it's got a big, decent bit of outside space I don't think there's any real...- Yeah.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Nothing would be a showstopper.

0:10:37 > 0:10:42In my ideal home, we would love to have a pool and a large garden.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44With one of those shoe racks that rotates.

0:10:44 > 0:10:46All right, don't push the boat out.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53To find out what kind of house they could actually have in Australia,

0:10:53 > 0:10:57today we'll show the Cromptons three properties.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01Two on budget and a third which could be their dream home.

0:11:01 > 0:11:05Only after they've seen each one will they find out what it costs.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08The family's search begins in Pelican Waters.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11- Nice. A nice bit of the world, no?- Unbelievable.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14Situated in the heart of Caloundra,

0:11:14 > 0:11:16this area's around an hour and a half north of Brisbane,

0:11:16 > 0:11:20but only minutes from Sunshine Coast beaches.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23Offering a wide range of coastal and sporting activities,

0:11:23 > 0:11:26the location should appeal to Andrew and Gemma.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29But will the house be on their wavelength, too?

0:11:29 > 0:11:32What do you think? I'm liking it, I'm liking it.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34So far, so good.

0:11:35 > 0:11:36Wow.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39- Oh, I love it.- Look at this.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42The modern interiors win Gemma over straight away.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45This is absolutely sensational.

0:11:45 > 0:11:48- With the open plan living and the...- Yeah.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51This home's living area opens out onto a large garden.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Just what the couple were hoping for.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55GEMMA GASPS

0:11:55 > 0:11:57- This...- I love this outside space.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00This is really the thing that gets me excited.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03The garden has plenty of room to roam

0:12:03 > 0:12:09and discovering it backs onto a golf club does little to dent enthusiasm.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11It's just, you feel like you're in the country,

0:12:11 > 0:12:13even though you're in this big housing estate.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16Cos you look over this golf course and it's trees and it's quiet.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18Moving back inside to check out the bedrooms,

0:12:18 > 0:12:22Andrew's chances of convincing Gemma seem to be on the up.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27I think I just spied a walk-in wardrobe.

0:12:28 > 0:12:29Wow.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32The master bedroom with en suite is a definite hit.

0:12:32 > 0:12:36- His and hers sinks.- That's what you've always wanted.- I know.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38- Apart from a walk-in wardrobe. - I can have my own tidy side.

0:12:38 > 0:12:42And decent sized bedrooms for the children go down well, too.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45O-oh, I think this could be Tilda's room.

0:12:45 > 0:12:46- What do you think?- Is this yours?

0:12:46 > 0:12:48This is exactly what you need, it's not too big,

0:12:48 > 0:12:50it's got great outside space.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54Come on, you guys.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57And finally a space for the boys.

0:12:57 > 0:13:01- Look at the size of this garage. - Everything's just so big.- I know.

0:13:01 > 0:13:02It's just the scale.

0:13:04 > 0:13:07It's like a little maze this house, isn't it? There's loads of little...

0:13:07 > 0:13:08It's the first place they've viewed,

0:13:08 > 0:13:12but it looks like this is somewhere the Cromptons could be comfortable.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16Is it affordable though, with their £300,000 budget?

0:13:16 > 0:13:21- Henry, what do you think?- Erm, 1,284 or something like that.

0:13:21 > 0:13:25- 1,284.- Uh-huh.- That'd be great if it was that much.- I'll take it.

0:13:25 > 0:13:30- I mean, it's immaculate. You could just move straight in.- It is, yeah.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32Time to find out how much it costs.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Right, this is it, Tilda.

0:13:37 > 0:13:38Let's turn it over.

0:13:40 > 0:13:41- BOTH:- Oo-oh.

0:13:41 > 0:13:44So, pretty much top of our budget.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46But doable.

0:13:46 > 0:13:48Yeah, it is doable.

0:13:48 > 0:13:50But if I was going top of the budget,

0:13:50 > 0:13:52we'd need a bigger guest room I think, wouldn't we?

0:13:53 > 0:13:57- I'm a bit disappointed actually at how much that is.- Really?- Yeah.

0:13:57 > 0:13:59In my heart, I was hoping it would be a bit more affordable,

0:13:59 > 0:14:02which gave us a bit more leeway

0:14:02 > 0:14:05- to look for something slightly bigger.- I think it's what we expected, though.

0:14:05 > 0:14:07Yeah. Yeah, it is. Right, come on, then.

0:14:07 > 0:14:09Despite positive reactions to the house,

0:14:09 > 0:14:12the price has disappointed Gemma.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15If Andrew's to convince her to make the move the next property

0:14:15 > 0:14:19will need to deliver what Gemma wants at a price she's happy to pay.

0:14:20 > 0:14:23To find out, the family travel to Maleny,

0:14:23 > 0:14:27a quaint town situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29Surrounded by mountains and lush green hills,

0:14:29 > 0:14:32the area combines countryside with coastal living.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34But will this traditional character home

0:14:34 > 0:14:38be made-to-measure for the Cromptons?

0:14:38 > 0:14:40Look at that.

0:14:40 > 0:14:43We could get a nice rocking chair on this deck.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46Gemma can see herself enjoying a seat in the sunshine,

0:14:46 > 0:14:48but will inside be as appealing?

0:14:48 > 0:14:50Right, let's have a look.

0:14:50 > 0:14:53It's a little bit...bald.

0:14:53 > 0:14:57Andrew's not as concerned about the dated decor.

0:14:57 > 0:14:58I like the log burner.

0:14:58 > 0:15:01Oh, I didn't even notice the log burner cos the chair was in the way.

0:15:01 > 0:15:04The kitchen has one pleasing aspect.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Oh, yeah. I like the kitchen.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09My goodness.

0:15:10 > 0:15:14So, this might change my view of this house.

0:15:14 > 0:15:15Gemma could be coming round.

0:15:16 > 0:15:21Yeah, if you just take out the chairs and the pictures then, wow.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24It could be amazing, couldn't it?

0:15:24 > 0:15:26Will the bedrooms be to her liking, too?

0:15:28 > 0:15:31- Wow.- Oh.- Mummy, this is mine and your bedroom. - It's mine and your bedroom.

0:15:31 > 0:15:35- Where's daddy going to sleep, in the garden?- I'm not sure about the floor, though.

0:15:35 > 0:15:39Might be some negotiating to do over sleeping arrangements,

0:15:39 > 0:15:41but is the en-suite worth fighting over?

0:15:41 > 0:15:44Nice, but I think not quite in our taste.

0:15:44 > 0:15:46No, it's a bit out of date, I think.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48The house might need upgrading,

0:15:48 > 0:15:52but the generous gardens could be a big selling point.

0:15:52 > 0:15:53It's all about this view, isn't it?

0:15:53 > 0:15:55Oh.

0:15:55 > 0:15:56It's an impressive outlook

0:15:56 > 0:15:59and Andrew's spotted something which could please Gemma.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03- Gem. It's a granny flat. - Oh, my goodness.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08- Check it out. - I just love this garden.

0:16:08 > 0:16:10A studio cottage with its own kitchen and bathroom

0:16:10 > 0:16:14could be the perfect home from home for visitors.

0:16:14 > 0:16:17This is lovely.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19- Oh, yeah. Look at that fireplace, as well.- This is amazing.

0:16:19 > 0:16:22This is fabulous, isn't it?

0:16:22 > 0:16:25The furniture and fittings are more to Gemma's style.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29This bathroom's nice. This is nicer than the main house.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31Ooh, a bottom!

0:16:32 > 0:16:34And the property's half acre of gardens

0:16:34 > 0:16:37has taken Gemma's breath away.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Let's have a quick look down here cos this is absolutely colossal.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42We found the football pitch.

0:16:43 > 0:16:47- Oh. I love this. I love this.- This is fabulous.

0:16:50 > 0:16:52Although underwhelmed at first,

0:16:52 > 0:16:55this home's hidden features have worked wonders on Gemma.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57I just loved the garden and the views

0:16:57 > 0:17:00and I could really see myself pottering my hours away.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02If you took the garden out of it, though

0:17:02 > 0:17:04I don't think you'd think the same.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07No, I think if the garden wasn't here then I wouldn't feel the same.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11So, is it someplace they could afford to call home with £300,000 to spend?

0:17:23 > 0:17:25Ohf.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27Whoa.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30- That is way over.- More expensive.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32That's £35,000 over budget.

0:17:34 > 0:17:37I mean, I love the garden. It's gorgeous, it's beautiful, but...

0:17:37 > 0:17:40It doesn't tick all our boxes for that amount of money.

0:17:40 > 0:17:43- It doesn't tick many of them, really.- No.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46The home just hasn't offered enough to justify a price tag

0:17:46 > 0:17:50£35,000 over the couple's budget.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53The family head back to Pelican Waters to check out what

0:17:53 > 0:17:55we think could be their dream home.

0:17:56 > 0:18:03- Oh, my goodness. These are, like, palatial.- Wow.- I know.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05Based on their ideal wish list,

0:18:05 > 0:18:07will this contemporary, five-bedroom house

0:18:07 > 0:18:10in a private, gated community be an all round winner?

0:18:14 > 0:18:15Oh, yeah.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20This is going to be a good one.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22Hopefully, inside won't disappoint.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25- Oh, my goodness.- Can that be my room?- It could be.- Look at this.

0:18:25 > 0:18:26- Oh-ho.- Wow.

0:18:28 > 0:18:29- It's massive.- It is, it's huge.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31With a wine cellar and cinema room,

0:18:31 > 0:18:34this house definitely isn't run of the mill.

0:18:34 > 0:18:37But will it be the one to convince Gemma to make the move?

0:18:39 > 0:18:41Look at that kitchen.

0:18:41 > 0:18:46Oh, I love how it all just opens out so your whole living area's just in and out at the same time.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49- It's amazing.- It is amazing.

0:18:49 > 0:18:54Wandering outside, Matilda soon spots something else to get excited about.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57- A swimming pool!- Massive. - A massive swimming pool.

0:18:57 > 0:18:59Not only that there's a slide.

0:18:59 > 0:19:01I'm lost for words.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03And you've got a garden on the side.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06It's less roomy than the last one, but still enough for Gemma.

0:19:07 > 0:19:10- Garden's gorgeous.- Come on, I'm coming for you.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12- I'm coming. - It's just so quiet.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14- It is quiet, isn't it?- I know.

0:19:14 > 0:19:19Back inside, a perfect play area for Henry and Matilda.

0:19:19 > 0:19:22- Table football! - This is your space, Henry.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24There's something for everyone,

0:19:24 > 0:19:26but Gemma's trying not to get carried away.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30The problem is, everything from this point on would be a disappointment.

0:19:30 > 0:19:32Wouldn't it? Do you know what I mean?

0:19:32 > 0:19:36Nothing else can compete with this. This house is just absolutely unreal.

0:19:36 > 0:19:39The only thing missing is a granny flat,

0:19:39 > 0:19:43but with five bedrooms, there's still plenty of rooms for guests.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45Mine!

0:19:45 > 0:19:47There's a double downstairs bed

0:19:47 > 0:19:50and then a single upstairs bed for when people come and sleep over.

0:19:51 > 0:19:55Gemma can definitely see herself living in a house like this.

0:19:55 > 0:19:57And the enormous master bedroom with en suite

0:19:57 > 0:20:00almost leaves her speechless.

0:20:00 > 0:20:03- Oh!- This is my bedroom, remember.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05Don't think so, Henry.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11- It's just absolutely perfect, isn't it?- It is.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14Everything's really high standard.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17This house has sold itself to the whole family.

0:20:17 > 0:20:22But with £300,000 to spend, will they be able to afford it?

0:20:24 > 0:20:27I think it's really, way smashed over the budget.

0:20:27 > 0:20:29- It's way over our budget. - Above budget, yeah.

0:20:29 > 0:20:31It's beautiful and I've loved seeing it

0:20:31 > 0:20:34and it's going to just ruin my life that we can't afford it!

0:20:36 > 0:20:37Henry, go for it.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47- Oo-oh.- Wow. That is even...

0:20:47 > 0:20:51- That's way higher than we predicted. - Yeah, that is a lot more.

0:20:51 > 0:20:54Yeah. That is colossally more money than we can afford.

0:20:54 > 0:20:55ANDREW LAUGHS

0:20:55 > 0:20:58- Can we save up?- I guess we'll have to save up.

0:21:00 > 0:21:02Never mind.

0:21:02 > 0:21:07At £150,000 over budget, this house would be a stretch.

0:21:07 > 0:21:11Unless the couple could substantially increase their earnings down under.

0:21:11 > 0:21:15Property one had the space and gorgeous garden the couple

0:21:15 > 0:21:17wanted, but Gemma wanted more for the money.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Despite substantial grounds and a granny flat,

0:21:22 > 0:21:26the interiors of property two weren't quite to anyone's taste.

0:21:28 > 0:21:30Complete with a pool and cinema room,

0:21:30 > 0:21:33property three was everything the family wanted,

0:21:33 > 0:21:37but at more than £150,000 over budget,

0:21:37 > 0:21:40sadly the price tag wasn't quite as agreeable.

0:21:40 > 0:21:44So, based on everything they've seen, how will the family vote

0:21:44 > 0:21:47when it comes to choosing between property in Australia and the UK?

0:22:06 > 0:22:11- Australia.- Undecided.- Australia.

0:22:11 > 0:22:13Why are you undecided, then?

0:22:14 > 0:22:17I loved all the houses, they were all gorgeous.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19But for the top of our budget

0:22:19 > 0:22:22we still didn't get exactly what we wanted.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24The last one was just fabulous,

0:22:24 > 0:22:27and if it had started with a different number - down.

0:22:28 > 0:22:30I don't know that we can afford

0:22:30 > 0:22:34to have a house that will meet our needs.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43Hoping for more for her money, the Sunshine Coast's property prices

0:22:43 > 0:22:48have added to Gemma's doubts about leaving the life she loves in the UK.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51She's passionate about her job at home,

0:22:51 > 0:22:55but the right work prospects down under could help Andrew's case.

0:22:57 > 0:22:59Back in the UK, he's an air traffic controller

0:22:59 > 0:23:02at Durham Tees Valley Airport.

0:23:02 > 0:23:05But he's already landed himself a job down under.

0:23:05 > 0:23:07You have the DME, report back to us.

0:23:07 > 0:23:10Airservices Australia have offered me a position

0:23:10 > 0:23:13where I would control a Brisbane tower.

0:23:13 > 0:23:16And subject to successfully completing a probationary period

0:23:16 > 0:23:19and training, they would make my position permanent.

0:23:21 > 0:23:23Right, I just need to check some details with you.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26Gemma's been a diagnostic radiographer at North Tees Hospital

0:23:26 > 0:23:27for the past four years.

0:23:29 > 0:23:33Most of my day involves doing 3D body scans of patients who come in.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37If Andrew's career down under's to take off,

0:23:37 > 0:23:39it's a job she'd have to sacrifice.

0:23:39 > 0:23:41And that's a devastating thought.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45It's a really important part of my life and...

0:23:48 > 0:23:50..I would find it really difficult to go.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58To explore her work opportunities in Australia,

0:23:58 > 0:24:02we've arranged for Gemma to visit a private radiology clinic,

0:24:02 > 0:24:05where she meets operations manager Trevor Gourlay.

0:24:05 > 0:24:07- Hi, nice to meet you.- I'm Trevor, how are you?- Very well, thanks.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09After a quick tour of the facilities,

0:24:09 > 0:24:14Gemma's ready to quiz Trevor on her prospects.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18Looking at my experience, would you consider me for a position here?

0:24:18 > 0:24:21Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. You seem well-rounded.

0:24:21 > 0:24:25It's a good start, and opportunities could be plentiful

0:24:25 > 0:24:28with an new public hospital being built on the sunshine coast.

0:24:29 > 0:24:34One of the most advanced hospitals in the world, we're led to believe.

0:24:34 > 0:24:38And looking at somewhere of about 140 imaging staff, which is...

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Wow, that's really nice to know that there's going to be such demand

0:24:41 > 0:24:44for my profession in the coming year.

0:24:44 > 0:24:47As Andrew's already secured a job, he takes the time to explore

0:24:47 > 0:24:50education options for Harry and Matilda,

0:24:50 > 0:24:54visiting Suncoast Christian College, a popular private school.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57If we can't give them the education and the opportunities

0:24:57 > 0:25:00that they've got in the UK, then it's a no-go, really.

0:25:00 > 0:25:04The family are welcomed by school principle, Mark Ash.

0:25:04 > 0:25:07All right, so I gather you guys are ready for a bit of a look

0:25:07 > 0:25:09- around the school.- Mhm, yep.

0:25:16 > 0:25:19While Henry and Matilda sit in on a lesson,

0:25:19 > 0:25:22Andrew asks Mark about their potential Aussie schooling.

0:25:24 > 0:25:26Matilda's just about to turn five,

0:25:26 > 0:25:30and in the UK she's been at school for a year, almost.

0:25:30 > 0:25:32Coming to Australia, I think we'd be concerned that

0:25:32 > 0:25:34she would resit a year.

0:25:34 > 0:25:35In Queensland here,

0:25:35 > 0:25:38there's a lot of flexibility given to schools around starting age.

0:25:38 > 0:25:43So our head of primary would do an interview, do an assessment of

0:25:43 > 0:25:46where she's at in terms of literacy, numeracy, look at her social skills.

0:25:46 > 0:25:49And then, in consultation with you, determine whether it's best

0:25:49 > 0:25:53to start in prep, year one, what's going to give her the best outcome.

0:25:53 > 0:25:55It's welcome news.

0:25:55 > 0:25:58Andrew's also keen to find out about their physical education.

0:25:58 > 0:26:01What sort of sports programme do you have on a day-to-day,

0:26:01 > 0:26:02week-to-week basis?

0:26:02 > 0:26:04We've just finished seasons of volley ball

0:26:04 > 0:26:07and football in secondary after-school sport.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10And the primary kids are midway through their first season

0:26:10 > 0:26:14with touch, netball, volleyball, basketball.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17Andrew is happy with what he's heard

0:26:17 > 0:26:22and Henry and Matilda sound like they'd have no problem fitting in.

0:26:22 > 0:26:24So what do you guys think of the school then today?

0:26:24 > 0:26:28- I like it.- You like it?- I love it. - You love it.

0:26:28 > 0:26:30That should make Gemma happy too.

0:26:30 > 0:26:35Back at the clinic, she's finding out about potential work hours.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38Well, our MRI starts here at seven, goes through till nine every night.

0:26:38 > 0:26:39Mm-hm, right.

0:26:39 > 0:26:44We occasionally do Saturdays if the workload demands it.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47All she needs to know now is her potential salary.

0:26:47 > 0:26:50So what kind of wage would I be expecting to earn,

0:26:50 > 0:26:52if I was working in the private radiology sector?

0:26:52 > 0:26:55With your qualifications, you'd probably start off

0:26:55 > 0:26:56at 90,000 to 100,000.

0:26:56 > 0:26:59It sort of gets up to about 115,000, I suppose.

0:26:59 > 0:27:03That's unbelievable, that's more than double what I earn in the UK.

0:27:03 > 0:27:06It's been encouraging news for Gemma all the way,

0:27:06 > 0:27:11but has she heard enough to choose a career in Australia, over the UK?

0:27:11 > 0:27:12I'm ready to vote...

0:27:20 > 0:27:21Australia!

0:27:21 > 0:27:24It's just so much better than it could be at home.

0:27:24 > 0:27:27It was an easy decision to make, after the conversation I had.

0:27:27 > 0:27:29Australia all the way.

0:27:31 > 0:27:34Mind made up, Gemma's keen to share her news with Andrew

0:27:34 > 0:27:37and find out how he got on at school.

0:27:37 > 0:27:38So how did the kids get on?

0:27:38 > 0:27:41It was impressive, it was, like, loads of resources.

0:27:41 > 0:27:43Both of them thought it was brilliant.

0:27:43 > 0:27:46- So you'd be really happy for them to go there?- Oh, yeah, absolutely.

0:27:46 > 0:27:48- Yeah, it was brilliant. - Oh, that's great news.

0:27:48 > 0:27:51Andrew's anxious to hear how Gemma got on.

0:27:51 > 0:27:54So how was your day, how did the job go?

0:27:54 > 0:27:59My qualifications were really good, I'd be quite desirable in Australia.

0:27:59 > 0:28:05- And the best bit was, he said I would earn 115,000.- 115,00?

0:28:05 > 0:28:07- Yeah.- That is mint.- Yeah.

0:28:11 > 0:28:14Discovering she could earn more doing the job she loves,

0:28:14 > 0:28:18could mean Gemma's beginning to understand Australia's appeal,

0:28:18 > 0:28:22but there's a long way to go before the move's a done deal.

0:28:22 > 0:28:25A key part of Andrew's desire to emigrate,

0:28:25 > 0:28:28is the lifestyle he believes the country could offer.

0:28:28 > 0:28:31So will a typically Aussie family day out bring him

0:28:31 > 0:28:34one step closer to achieving his goal?

0:28:42 > 0:28:46Making the most of the fine weather, the family head east of Caloundra,

0:28:46 > 0:28:50to enjoy a day at King's Beach.

0:28:50 > 0:28:52It's going to be fun.

0:28:52 > 0:28:55With its water fountains and playground,

0:28:55 > 0:28:58right on the oceanfront, this is a popular spot

0:28:58 > 0:29:00for families with young children.

0:29:00 > 0:29:04And Henry and Matilda take to the lifestyle like ducks to water.

0:29:04 > 0:29:07This is awesome.

0:29:07 > 0:29:10Henry spots an adventurous activity he'd like to try.

0:29:10 > 0:29:13- Bungee jump. - Do you fancy doing bungee jump?

0:29:13 > 0:29:14- Do you want to go on the jump?- Yeah!

0:29:14 > 0:29:17It's the perfect way to burn off some energy.

0:29:17 > 0:29:20OK, little man, move into the middle and I'll tell you when to jump.

0:29:20 > 0:29:22- So you could get used to this then? - Oh, yeah.

0:29:22 > 0:29:25It beats hanging out in Fishburn in the rain.

0:29:25 > 0:29:28That should be music to Andrew's ears.

0:29:32 > 0:29:35Time for a spot of lunch in the park.

0:29:37 > 0:29:41- Is this our first picnic? - First ever picnic in Australia.

0:29:43 > 0:29:47Andrew's delighted to finally experience Aussie living.

0:29:47 > 0:29:51Before we came, I felt... Is it going to live up to my expectations?

0:29:51 > 0:29:55And it's gone way past everything that I thought it would be.

0:29:55 > 0:29:59Gemma could be warming to the idea of a life in the southern hemisphere.

0:29:59 > 0:30:02It just really has opened my eyes to what kind of a life we can have.

0:30:02 > 0:30:04The weather, obviously, is a huge bonus.

0:30:04 > 0:30:06You can do so much more with your children

0:30:06 > 0:30:09when you've got a sunny day pretty much guaranteed every day.

0:30:09 > 0:30:13But she's still mindful, sunshine isn't everything.

0:30:13 > 0:30:15It's starting a new life.

0:30:15 > 0:30:18You know, everything is from scratch.

0:30:18 > 0:30:22And I'm still kind of on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster

0:30:22 > 0:30:25and I find it hard to think of this place as home.

0:30:26 > 0:30:29Andrew's all too aware Gemma's torn and that

0:30:29 > 0:30:33come the end of the week, she'll hold the key to their future.

0:30:33 > 0:30:34She has the ultimate veto.

0:30:34 > 0:30:36If she doesn't want to come, she doesn't have to come.

0:30:36 > 0:30:39And none of us will.

0:30:39 > 0:30:41As the afternoon draws to a close,

0:30:41 > 0:30:45Gemma's pondering the reality of leaving her sister in the UK.

0:30:48 > 0:30:50I don't know if I'm ready for that.

0:30:50 > 0:30:52And I'm pretty sure she's not.

0:30:52 > 0:30:55I mean, she's texted me every day that we've been here.

0:30:55 > 0:30:58And I just can't imagine having a life without her being in it.

0:30:59 > 0:31:02A difficult decision lies ahead for Gemma,

0:31:02 > 0:31:05but based on today alone, it's time to find out

0:31:05 > 0:31:09if the family prefer lifestyle in the UK or Australia.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28- ALL:- Australia!

0:31:28 > 0:31:30Is everybody the same? Yay!

0:31:30 > 0:31:33I just loved how everything was all so close to the beach as well,

0:31:33 > 0:31:36so you could have a really full day without really getting

0:31:36 > 0:31:38bored of doing any activities.

0:31:38 > 0:31:40Yeah, and then we had a picnic in the park

0:31:40 > 0:31:42and it was all in the same place.

0:31:42 > 0:31:44Everything was together. And it was all free, really.

0:31:44 > 0:31:47It was really good. We had a great day. Did you have a great day?

0:31:47 > 0:31:48Yeah.

0:31:53 > 0:31:55With another vote going his way,

0:31:55 > 0:31:57Andrew could be inching closer to achieving the life

0:31:57 > 0:32:02he wants for his family, but will the finances down under stack up?

0:32:02 > 0:32:05The couple would sell their house in the UK

0:32:05 > 0:32:07and believe it's worth around £200,000.

0:32:07 > 0:32:11We sent round two estate agents to give their valuations.

0:32:11 > 0:32:13Bit nervous about what they say.

0:32:13 > 0:32:16I'm more nervous in case it looks messy or dirty.

0:32:16 > 0:32:18So weird.

0:32:19 > 0:32:22This is a really airy, modern hall.

0:32:23 > 0:32:25Lovely wooden flooring.

0:32:28 > 0:32:31It's a really, really modern kitchen. Lovely range cooker.

0:32:31 > 0:32:35- It looks really nice.- It does, yeah.

0:32:35 > 0:32:38- That's my dad. - Nice big family space.

0:32:38 > 0:32:41Lots of happy pictures on the wall.

0:32:41 > 0:32:43It looks really nice.

0:32:43 > 0:32:48What a lovely room, like having a hotel room in your home.

0:32:48 > 0:32:50Got lots of space, lots of storage.

0:32:51 > 0:32:54Nice, neutral white bathroom space.

0:32:54 > 0:32:57Do you think he's saying it's a bit boring?

0:32:57 > 0:33:00Yeah, everything seems to be working fine, great.

0:33:00 > 0:33:01The toilet!

0:33:04 > 0:33:08It's a great spare room and a lovely view at the back, over the fields.

0:33:08 > 0:33:11We've got a family dog here, who's obviously very happy.

0:33:11 > 0:33:14Aw, Earl's on! Fantastic.

0:33:14 > 0:33:18And we've got all this countryside here and here and here.

0:33:19 > 0:33:22- Really appealing for any family. - It's gorgeous, looks good.

0:33:22 > 0:33:24In the current market conditions,

0:33:24 > 0:33:27I would value this property at £180,000.

0:33:27 > 0:33:28THEY WINCE

0:33:28 > 0:33:33And, for a quick sale, I would value this property at £170,000.

0:33:33 > 0:33:35What?

0:33:35 > 0:33:37I would value this house at £195,000.

0:33:38 > 0:33:41For a quick sale, I would value it at £175,000.

0:33:42 > 0:33:44So that's a bit under.

0:33:44 > 0:33:46That changes what we would be able to afford over here,

0:33:46 > 0:33:48- if we decide to come... - True.

0:33:48 > 0:33:51..because that's like, £20,000 less than we were expecting.

0:33:55 > 0:33:58Hopefully there won't be more nasty shocks

0:33:58 > 0:34:01when the couple examine finances in Australia.

0:34:01 > 0:34:02To see how they add up,

0:34:02 > 0:34:05we've prepared a comparison of costs with the UK.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07Here we go.

0:34:07 > 0:34:11First up, a look at the weekly grocery shop.

0:34:11 > 0:34:14Brown sauce is, like, way more expensive.

0:34:14 > 0:34:17Unless we could source our own supply.

0:34:17 > 0:34:20- Bananas are a lot more expensive. - Yeah, they are.

0:34:20 > 0:34:23- Which is surprising, really. - And potatoes.

0:34:23 > 0:34:27Most of it is slightly more expensive, I would say.

0:34:27 > 0:34:29A quick tot up of expensive reveals what they'll be paying

0:34:29 > 0:34:33out for food every week.

0:34:33 > 0:34:35£153.23.

0:34:35 > 0:34:37So the UK was £133.72.

0:34:37 > 0:34:42So £19.51 more expensive.

0:34:42 > 0:34:45That's almost £80.00 more every month.

0:34:45 > 0:34:48- Not too bad though, could've been worse.- No, happy days.

0:34:48 > 0:34:52Encouraged, the couple move onto the bigger monthly bills.

0:34:52 > 0:34:58The mortgage here, based on the first house we viewed, is £1,507.33.

0:34:58 > 0:35:03Childcare is a lot more, because, obviously, we won't have our family.

0:35:03 > 0:35:09And then private school fees per month, for both kids, £436.13.

0:35:09 > 0:35:12The added extras quickly stack up

0:35:12 > 0:35:16and it's clear the couple would be spending much more down under.

0:35:16 > 0:35:20- £1,326.69...- Yeah.

0:35:20 > 0:35:23- ..more expensive per month.- Yeah.

0:35:23 > 0:35:26Wowsers.

0:35:26 > 0:35:30It's a considerable hit, but Gemma could almost double her

0:35:30 > 0:35:34salary in Australia and that could help massively.

0:35:34 > 0:35:39- £7,654.- And that's per month.

0:35:39 > 0:35:42We earn just under £32,000 a year more than we do in the UK.

0:35:42 > 0:35:45But then it's obviously more expensive to live.

0:35:45 > 0:35:48It's a phenomenal increase in earnings and when the couple subtract

0:35:48 > 0:35:55their outgoings, they discover they'd be £1,300 better off each month.

0:35:55 > 0:35:56That's £16,000 a year.

0:35:56 > 0:35:59GEMMA GASPS

0:36:10 > 0:36:13Stop. That's insane.

0:36:18 > 0:36:21That's insane.

0:36:21 > 0:36:24- 16 grand, that's like a wage, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:36:24 > 0:36:26That's a whole wage, on top.

0:36:29 > 0:36:31That's really overwhelming.

0:36:33 > 0:36:36It's got to be a positive result for Andrew,

0:36:36 > 0:36:40as the couple vote on finances in Australia versus the UK.

0:36:41 > 0:36:45Based on our finances, the UK versus Australia,

0:36:45 > 0:36:47we're going to vote for...

0:36:57 > 0:36:59Australia.

0:36:59 > 0:37:00Australia!

0:37:01 > 0:37:04- So you're happy with that then? - "Happy"?

0:37:04 > 0:37:07With an extra 16 grand a year, I'd be insane to vote anything else,

0:37:07 > 0:37:10based on finances.

0:37:10 > 0:37:13So far, Gemma's discovered the work, lifestyle

0:37:13 > 0:37:18and financial opportunities Australia could offer are hard to argue with.

0:37:18 > 0:37:20But Andrew's dream could still stall,

0:37:20 > 0:37:24as Gemma confronts the reality of leaving loved ones.

0:37:24 > 0:37:27The family sit down to watch messages from home.

0:37:27 > 0:37:31So we're going to watch our family and friends' videos from home.

0:37:31 > 0:37:33And it might be a little bit sad, OK?

0:37:33 > 0:37:37Cos it's going to be all your family telling you

0:37:37 > 0:37:39what they think about us maybe moving to Australia, so do you

0:37:39 > 0:37:42think you're happy to watch that, even though it might make you sad?

0:37:42 > 0:37:44- Yeah.- It won't make me sad.

0:37:44 > 0:37:47- It won't make you sad? OK. So are you sure?- Mm-hm.- Yeah.

0:37:47 > 0:37:50- OK, should we watch it then? - BOTH: Yeah.

0:37:50 > 0:37:54- Hi!- Hi, Gemma, Andy, Henry, Matilda.

0:37:54 > 0:37:57Hi, kids, this is your nanna.

0:37:57 > 0:38:01- Hi.- Hi, Gemma, Andy, Matilda and Henry.

0:38:01 > 0:38:04My son, wonderful boy.

0:38:04 > 0:38:08Just like his father.

0:38:08 > 0:38:11My relationship with my sister is she's my best friend.

0:38:11 > 0:38:15We're there for each other, we're on the phone a lot of the time.

0:38:15 > 0:38:18She's a very outgoing girl, she's a very loving girl.

0:38:18 > 0:38:20Very proud of her.

0:38:20 > 0:38:24Two lovely kids, very well-brought-up, very well-behaved.

0:38:24 > 0:38:28It'll bring them on leaps and bounds down under.

0:38:28 > 0:38:30I ain't going to last forever.

0:38:30 > 0:38:34She's hopefully going to live a lot longer than do now.

0:38:34 > 0:38:36And I want what's best for them.

0:38:36 > 0:38:38It's going to break my heart.

0:38:43 > 0:38:48There would be a huge hole in my life, if the grandchildren go.

0:38:49 > 0:38:55Whatever you do, you have our full backing and our full support.

0:38:55 > 0:38:56I love you all very much.

0:38:59 > 0:39:03I hope you make the right decision for yourselves.

0:39:03 > 0:39:06Love you both and adore my grandchildren.

0:39:07 > 0:39:09Bye.

0:39:09 > 0:39:12I'm gutted that you're going to be across the world.

0:39:22 > 0:39:25But I know you're only on the other end of a phone

0:39:25 > 0:39:29and I know we'll still stay in touch and we'll still be close.

0:39:29 > 0:39:30I'm very proud of you.

0:39:33 > 0:39:35You all right?

0:39:35 > 0:39:38I knew Joanne was going to be the hard one.

0:39:41 > 0:39:47She's just such a huge part of our life and I need her, I need her.

0:39:47 > 0:39:50So it will be hard to leave.

0:39:50 > 0:39:53Are you worried about me?

0:39:53 > 0:39:55No, I'm OK.

0:39:56 > 0:40:00Hearing messages from home was particularly tough for Gemma,

0:40:00 > 0:40:02who after years at sea,

0:40:02 > 0:40:06has grown accustomed to having loved ones close by once more.

0:40:06 > 0:40:09Knowing friends and family will support whatever decision

0:40:09 > 0:40:13they reach is reassuring, but will the thought of how much they'd

0:40:13 > 0:40:18be missed mean Andrew's dream is about to run aground forever?

0:40:21 > 0:40:25When the Crompton's touched down in Australia a week ago,

0:40:25 > 0:40:27Andrew was hoping the country would sell itself as somewhere

0:40:27 > 0:40:31the family could make themselves at home.

0:40:31 > 0:40:35I don't want to pile all the pressure on Gemma, but, obviously,

0:40:35 > 0:40:38I was already sold on the idea of coming here in the first place.

0:40:38 > 0:40:40This was all about convincing her.

0:40:40 > 0:40:44It was more, for me, about whether I could still be happy here as well.

0:40:44 > 0:40:46I'm feeling a lot more positive,

0:40:46 > 0:40:51but there's still a bit of a niggle, you know, my family and my friends.

0:40:51 > 0:40:55And also, how we'd settle over in Australia.

0:40:55 > 0:40:57With his job offer already on the table,

0:40:57 > 0:41:01Gemma knows Andrew is more determined than ever to make the move.

0:41:02 > 0:41:06He's already here. He's made this move in his head and his heart.

0:41:06 > 0:41:09This week has just cemented 100% that this is the right

0:41:09 > 0:41:10place for us to be.

0:41:10 > 0:41:14And Henry's been convinced too.

0:41:14 > 0:41:17I think it would be quite nice being here for a long time,

0:41:17 > 0:41:19being in the sunshine.

0:41:19 > 0:41:22I don't like being in the rain.

0:41:22 > 0:41:24But, as the final decision approaches,

0:41:24 > 0:41:28Andrew's still not sure what life his wife will choose.

0:41:28 > 0:41:31If she votes yes, that'll be fantastic.

0:41:31 > 0:41:33We would make a brilliant life here.

0:41:33 > 0:41:35If she decides that it's just not what she wants,

0:41:35 > 0:41:38then OK, I'll have to console myself to that fact.

0:41:38 > 0:41:41It's totally emotional.

0:41:41 > 0:41:44My head is in Australia now, my heart is just still attached

0:41:44 > 0:41:47and I can't really explain it.

0:41:47 > 0:41:50I just feel sad when I think about leaving home.

0:41:53 > 0:41:57What Gemma decides next will change the family's path forever,

0:41:57 > 0:42:01As Andrew prepares to find out whether the week's done enough

0:42:01 > 0:42:04to finally convince her to follow his dream.

0:42:04 > 0:42:08So, after a trial week in Australia, we're ready to make our final vote.

0:42:22 > 0:42:24- ALL:- Australia!

0:42:24 > 0:42:26- Really? Good news.- Yeah.

0:42:26 > 0:42:28I think so, I mean,

0:42:28 > 0:42:31it was always going to be an emotional rollercoaster

0:42:31 > 0:42:34and it's going to be hard to leave, but this is definitely

0:42:34 > 0:42:38the right place to raise our kids and it's the right place for us.

0:42:38 > 0:42:42Employment-wise, financially and the lifestyle it's what I want,

0:42:42 > 0:42:43for me as well as them.

0:42:43 > 0:42:47So I might be a bit crazy on the transition, but let's go for it.

0:42:47 > 0:42:49- You guys happy with that? - Right, guys, let's go!

0:42:58 > 0:43:04It was a tough decision for Gemma, but, after much deliberating,

0:43:04 > 0:43:07Andrew's finally got the all clear to accept his exciting job

0:43:07 > 0:43:09offer down under.

0:43:09 > 0:43:12We wish the whole family the very best of luck as they prepare

0:43:12 > 0:43:16to take off on the journey of a lifetime.
