0:00:03 > 0:00:07Having put your dream of emigrating on hold decades earlier,

0:00:07 > 0:00:11you are now determined to finally get the life you want.

0:00:11 > 0:00:13But if your children are set on staying in the UK,

0:00:13 > 0:00:18how do you persuade them to give up everything at home and follow you to

0:00:18 > 0:00:20the other side of the world?

0:00:20 > 0:00:23Suckie Chahal's already been cheated of a life down under.

0:00:24 > 0:00:28I was meant to have gone when I was about 14.

0:00:28 > 0:00:31Never happened, and it's never gone out of my head, ever since.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35Recently devastated by losing her husband and brother,

0:00:35 > 0:00:38she's desperate to reignite the dream.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40I just feel that the three of us - me, Aaron and Priya -

0:00:40 > 0:00:42could just do with a fresh start.

0:00:42 > 0:00:46But when getting her children on board proves tougher than expected...

0:00:46 > 0:00:48She really wants to make this work,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51but it's just not suiting me and my sister.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54The dream of a brighter future in Australia

0:00:54 > 0:00:56could be over before it's begun.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21The most isolated and remote of the world's seven continents,

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Australia's also the least populated,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27and with extraordinary scenery and a temperate climate,

0:01:27 > 0:01:31it's not hard to understand why over a million British residents

0:01:31 > 0:01:33have made it their home in the past 40 years.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Having survived the heartache

0:01:36 > 0:01:39of losing her husband and brother in quick succession,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42Suckie Chahal is determined to put the past behind her

0:01:42 > 0:01:48and resurrect her lifelong dream of emigrating to Australia.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52Now she has just one week to convince son Aaron and daughter Priya

0:01:52 > 0:01:55to uproot their lives in the UK,

0:01:55 > 0:01:58and start again over 10,000 miles from home.

0:01:59 > 0:02:02The week begins with more than 20 hours in the air,

0:02:02 > 0:02:04flying from London to Melbourne,

0:02:04 > 0:02:08and the distance from home is already sinking in.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11It's not until you get onto the second flight when you realise,

0:02:11 > 0:02:13actually, how far Australia is.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15The middle of nowhere.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Even so, Suckie's delighted to be on Australian soil

0:02:18 > 0:02:20for the first time.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24I said to these two as soon as we landed, it's as if we're home.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27Priya and Aaron know what's at stake in the week ahead.

0:02:27 > 0:02:31I think me and Aaron do feel a little bit under pressure,

0:02:31 > 0:02:33because we know how much it means to my mum.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35It's one of her dreams,

0:02:35 > 0:02:39and we just have to see if we can fulfil the dream.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42But Suckie's under no illusion about the task in hand.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44I do think I've got my work cut out this week,

0:02:44 > 0:02:49to try and get both of them to vote for Australia.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Where the Chahals spend the rest of their lives

0:02:52 > 0:02:55depends on what happens in the next seven days.

0:02:55 > 0:03:00Back in the UK, the Chahal family are mum Suckie, daughter Priya,

0:03:00 > 0:03:03who's 21, and 19-year-old son Aaron.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06They're from Tipton, near Birmingham.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Suckie's dreamt of living in Australia

0:03:10 > 0:03:14ever since family plans to emigrate there were cancelled.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16I was meant to have gone when I was about 14.

0:03:16 > 0:03:21It never happened and it's never gone out of my head, ever since.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24When she married at 19, the idea of emigrating was still strong.

0:03:24 > 0:03:27But Suckie's husband didn't share the dream.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31He never wanted to go to Australia, so he'd say it's too far.

0:03:31 > 0:03:35Instead, the couple opened a shop in Birmingham and Suckie focused on

0:03:35 > 0:03:36bringing up their two children.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42But the past two years have seen life change dramatically,

0:03:42 > 0:03:44with Suckie's husband and brother

0:03:44 > 0:03:47passing away within months of each other.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Priya and Aaron have been devastated by their loss.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54It's really hit them quite deep.

0:03:56 > 0:04:00My brother was very, very close to them,

0:04:00 > 0:04:03and so, for them, it's like losing two dads in 18 months.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05It changes your world massively.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08So, it's hard, it never goes away, it's always there.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11It's been hard for all of us, really.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14Realising how fragile life can be,

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Suckie's determined to make the most of the future.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19That taught me that life is too short.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21I just feel that, yeah, the three of us - me, Aaron and Priya -

0:04:21 > 0:04:23could just do with a fresh start.

0:04:23 > 0:04:27So she's resurrected her decades' long dream of a life down under.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32I just think this is a chance now, this is my opportunity to go.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36For both Aaron and Priya, Mum's vision is no surprise.

0:04:37 > 0:04:42I've known about my mum's Australian dream for a long time now.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44My mum mentions Australia nearly every day.

0:04:44 > 0:04:48Whenever I talk about Australia to Priya and Aaron, they just tell me to be quiet.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50It's like, let's change the subject.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Australia is a constant!

0:04:54 > 0:04:58But desperate for a fresh start, and disillusioned with life in the UK,

0:04:58 > 0:05:01Suckie's convinced Australia will help them get more from life.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05We do nothing at the moment together,

0:05:05 > 0:05:09because I work quite long hours and I work literally seven days.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12So I'm just in and out the house all the time.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17So spending an hour in the evening with each other,

0:05:17 > 0:05:18I don't think that's enough, really.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21That's not the life I really want,

0:05:21 > 0:05:25so while they're still living at home and under my wing,

0:05:25 > 0:05:27I'd still like to spend a bit more time with them.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29For Suckie, it's the perfect time to go.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34Priya's towards the end of her education.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Aaron is now at the next, his last stage,

0:05:37 > 0:05:39where he'll be looking for universities.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42I want him to have that international opportunity, as well.

0:05:42 > 0:05:46All she needs to do now is get Priya and Aaron on board.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50I don't really like change as much.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54I'm kind of scared, kind of cautious about leaving family behind.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56I don't see family every day,

0:05:56 > 0:05:59but knowing that they're only down the road,

0:05:59 > 0:06:02is a big difference to 24 hours away.

0:06:02 > 0:06:04The children are open to a trial week,

0:06:04 > 0:06:08but will need a lot of convincing to make the move permanently.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11I can't see myself making a life in Australia just yet,

0:06:11 > 0:06:16until I know properly what work and home life would be like.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19I just need to see what it's like out there,

0:06:19 > 0:06:23before I can make a decision on how I feel at this moment in time.

0:06:23 > 0:06:27The whole family are only too aware of the challenge ahead.

0:06:27 > 0:06:31I have a week to prove to Aaron and Priya what sort of life they can have,

0:06:31 > 0:06:35- what they can achieve.- I do feel like I'm under a bit of pressure,

0:06:35 > 0:06:36just to keep my mum happy.

0:06:36 > 0:06:41If my mum does like Australia and me and Aaron don't...

0:06:41 > 0:06:43The situation is we don't go.

0:06:44 > 0:06:48Suckie's determined to make her children see their life could be better

0:06:48 > 0:06:51on the other side of the world, but if she can't,

0:06:51 > 0:06:54her dream could be shelved all over again.

0:06:54 > 0:06:55As much as I'd love to say yes,

0:06:55 > 0:06:58I'm just going to go to Australia and it doesn't matter what they say,

0:06:58 > 0:07:00no, I don't think that could happen.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03They've lost one parent already and I don't think I'd leave them behind.

0:07:03 > 0:07:05It's definitely now or never.

0:07:05 > 0:07:08I'm just hoping it goes in my favour.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18The Chahals are spending their trial week in Melbourne,

0:07:18 > 0:07:21capital of Victoria on Australia's south coast.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25The city plays host to almost a million international visitors each year.

0:07:27 > 0:07:29The family's temporary base

0:07:29 > 0:07:32is this modern bungalow on the saltwater coast.

0:07:35 > 0:07:36- Not bad, this is nice.- Yeah.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40Oh, it's the kitchen.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42It's a kitchen, diner and living room all in one.

0:07:42 > 0:07:46That's the open plan living the country favours.

0:07:46 > 0:07:50Outdoors, the garden's not quite up to scratch.

0:07:50 > 0:07:52- It's really small, isn't it? - It's fake grass, as well.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56The garden's not very nice.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00This house, it wouldn't make me want to move to Australia.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02It's not up to what I want.

0:08:02 > 0:08:06They've only just arrived, but Suckie's dream's already on shaky ground.

0:08:06 > 0:08:09- There's more to come. - Let's just see.

0:08:09 > 0:08:13- We'll see, yeah. - We'll see how it goes.

0:08:13 > 0:08:17Things will need to improve in the week ahead if she's ever to convince

0:08:17 > 0:08:19Aaron and Priya to make the move.

0:08:25 > 0:08:26Back in the UK,

0:08:26 > 0:08:31the Chahal family moved into their four-bedroom new build in Birmingham a year ago.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34- Hi.- Suckie's pleased with her choice.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37I'm actually happy with my home in the UK.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39If I could just pick it up and go...

0:08:39 > 0:08:43Obviously you're not going to downsize or go for less than we've already got here.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46I do like the open space in the Australian homes, though.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48I do like the way their layouts are.

0:08:48 > 0:08:52So something to the same standard in Australia would be nice.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56They've a budget of £300,000 for a property in Australia,

0:08:56 > 0:09:00but it will have to impress if Priya and Aaron are to agree to a move.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02When you're there, you want to feel like you're at home,

0:09:02 > 0:09:05you don't want to feel like you're just on holiday.

0:09:05 > 0:09:06It needs to be right for us.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12Finding the right home down under could be key in Suckie's quest to

0:09:12 > 0:09:15convince her children to follow her dream.

0:09:15 > 0:09:18To give them an idea of what's available in Melbourne,

0:09:18 > 0:09:20we'll show the family two houses on budget

0:09:20 > 0:09:23and one which could be their dream home.

0:09:23 > 0:09:26First stop of the day is Keilor Downs,

0:09:26 > 0:09:29an established suburb ten miles north of Melbourne.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31After a tentative start to the week,

0:09:31 > 0:09:35can this modern three-bedroom townhouse get things back on track?

0:09:35 > 0:09:37Oh, my God, is it this one?

0:09:37 > 0:09:38- Where?- Oh, it's this one here.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40This one's massive!

0:09:44 > 0:09:47- This is nice. - Oh, this is a nice house.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Sounds promising.

0:09:49 > 0:09:51The living area has a familiar feel.

0:09:52 > 0:09:56I like this. This is our colour theme, this is our home.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58This is what it's like back at home.

0:09:58 > 0:09:59This kitchen's really nice.

0:09:59 > 0:10:01I'd change the cupboards, that's all.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03This is your domain, anyway, so...

0:10:03 > 0:10:06- No, I like this. - And mine if she's not here.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08So far, so good.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11The positive vibe continues upstairs.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13- Oh, wow.- That's a nice bedroom.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15This is really nice.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17- This is mine.- Yeah.- I like this.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19The other bedrooms aren't quite as impressive.

0:10:19 > 0:10:23- Smaller than yours, yours is bigger than this.- Yeah, mine's actually bigger than this.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27- Kiddies room.- It's the baby's room.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29It's too small for any of us to have it, isn't it?

0:10:29 > 0:10:32The family bathroom goes down well.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34That's a nice bathroom.

0:10:34 > 0:10:35But, something's missing...

0:10:36 > 0:10:39It's a bit weird, though, how the toilet's not in here.

0:10:39 > 0:10:43- Oh, yeah, there's no toilet. - Don't you think?

0:10:45 > 0:10:48That's where the toilet is, they have it all separate.

0:10:48 > 0:10:49You see, I don't like that.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51That's that arrangement down the pan.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53I prefer it how it is in the UK.

0:10:53 > 0:10:55The outdoor area's a bit short on space.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00It's a nice garden. Small, though.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02It's nice, but no. Too small.

0:11:02 > 0:11:06- A bit too cramped.- Overall, the house has evoked mixed reactions.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10- What do you think?- I like it, but it's not big enough for us.

0:11:10 > 0:11:14But, if the price falls within their £300,000 budget,

0:11:14 > 0:11:15could it turn things around?

0:11:16 > 0:11:18I reckon it's about 325.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21I think, I reckon it's about 300-325.

0:11:21 > 0:11:25- Yeah.- Yeah, probably the same as well, 330.

0:11:26 > 0:11:28- Shall we have a look?- Yeah.

0:11:37 > 0:11:41- That's good.- That's surprising. - 272.- That is good.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44That's £28,000 under budget.

0:11:44 > 0:11:46I thought it was way more than that.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48The standard of the house, I thought it would have been a lot more.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51- Yeah, definitely. - I'm happy with that.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53- Yeah.- Let's see what the second property's got to offer.

0:11:53 > 0:11:57- OK.- House-hunting is off to a good start for Suckie.

0:11:58 > 0:12:02The next stop is Craigieburn, 20 miles north of central Melbourne.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05Property here offers good value for money.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08This four-bedroom house should have the space the family need,

0:12:08 > 0:12:11but what will first impressions be?

0:12:11 > 0:12:13- Yeah, look at it, it's nice. - It looks big.- This is nice.

0:12:15 > 0:12:18- This is nice.- Spacious.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21It's a lot better than the last one

0:12:21 > 0:12:25even though it does feel open already as you walk in.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28- Yeah.- Just through the door and they're already impressed.

0:12:28 > 0:12:31- Open plan kitchen-diner. - Kitchen and diner, yeah.

0:12:31 > 0:12:32It's a good space, actually.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35Just feels a bit more homelier.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39The bedrooms strike a positive note.

0:12:39 > 0:12:41This is what we were looking for here.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44Wardrobe's quite spacious.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47- So's the en-suite. - It's got two sinks.

0:12:48 > 0:12:51This is nice, this is a good one, double bed.

0:12:51 > 0:12:52I wouldn't mind having this one.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55This would be good for you, because it's bigger than what you've got at home.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58Aaron and Priya could be coming round.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00It's a nice little short staircase.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02- Yeah.- It's not too big.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05But, once again, the family bathroom hits a bum note.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07The problem is the toilet, as well.

0:13:07 > 0:13:09What's the problem with a separate toilet?

0:13:09 > 0:13:12I don't know, we're used to having a toilet in there.

0:13:12 > 0:13:13Old habits die hard, Mum.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17The outdoor area's more pleasing.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22- This is nice. I like this. - Oh, this is beautiful.

0:13:22 > 0:13:23This is what I like.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26The only thing that's lacking is a pool, but...

0:13:26 > 0:13:29The property is practically perfect,

0:13:29 > 0:13:32but is it somewhere they can afford with their £300,000 budget?

0:13:34 > 0:13:37This is going to be out of our range.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39I'm thinking 325-350.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41I'll say 375.

0:13:42 > 0:13:44That's a lot, that is a lot.

0:13:44 > 0:13:47It's double the house. Shall we have a look?

0:13:47 > 0:13:48Go on.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59- OK.- It's £1,000 under budget.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02- That is good.- 299.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05- That's doable.- That is good.

0:14:05 > 0:14:06- Really good.- Yeah, happy.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11With things continuing on a positive note,

0:14:11 > 0:14:15we found what we think could be the Chahals' dream home.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17It's in the suburb of Point Cook,

0:14:17 > 0:14:19just a half-hour commute south of Melbourne.

0:14:19 > 0:14:23Will this modern four-bedroom home be to the family's taste?

0:14:26 > 0:14:28This is really nice.

0:14:28 > 0:14:29Look at the size of the door.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32- It's quite big. - It's quite big and airy.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36- Oh, wow.- It's breathtaking.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38- Oh.- Wow.

0:14:38 > 0:14:40Do you know what, I don't know what to say!

0:14:40 > 0:14:43Looks like they're lost for words.

0:14:43 > 0:14:45- It's big.- It's nice, innit?

0:14:45 > 0:14:48- You've got a double kitchen here. - Right, another mini kitchen.

0:14:50 > 0:14:53This one's actually got me.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56A living area upstairs impresses, too.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59Wow. This is good.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02- This is nice.- I like the idea of having the lounge upstairs, as well.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05- Yeah, I think it's good.- I do like this.- But, on second thoughts...

0:15:05 > 0:15:07I wouldn't want you up here watching telly all day.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09OK, Mum.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14Aaron's got his eye on one of the bedrooms.

0:15:14 > 0:15:16- I'll probably have this one.- Really?

0:15:16 > 0:15:19- It's the master.- It's for a master.

0:15:20 > 0:15:24The walk-in wardrobe divides opinion.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27- Wow, this is big. - This is a bit too much space.

0:15:27 > 0:15:29- No, it's not.- No, it's not too much.

0:15:29 > 0:15:31- It's not, you know. - It's what we need.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34The ensuite's a different matter, though.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36- This is really big. - Is it too big, though?

0:15:36 > 0:15:37I think it's too big for me.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40The family bathroom raises the same old argument.

0:15:40 > 0:15:43- There's just no toilet anywhere again.- Yeah.- Why would you want it?

0:15:43 > 0:15:46- I can't understand...- Because I'm used to having a toilet, as well.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48All right?

0:15:48 > 0:15:51You can do all your business in one room,

0:15:51 > 0:15:54instead of going in another room. That's it.

0:15:54 > 0:15:55Bedroom number two.

0:15:55 > 0:15:59Aaron can't seem to make his mind up about the bedrooms.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03- It would work for me.- It would work for both of us, to be honest.

0:16:03 > 0:16:04I would have this bedroom.

0:16:04 > 0:16:05Bedroom number four, this is.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08I could see myself being in here, to be honest.

0:16:08 > 0:16:10That's got to be a good sign, Suckie.

0:16:10 > 0:16:11This is what I need.

0:16:11 > 0:16:14The outside entertaining area is a big hit.

0:16:14 > 0:16:18Oh, look at this. This is like a version of a conservatory.

0:16:18 > 0:16:19Wow.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21This garden's still big, isn't it?

0:16:21 > 0:16:23This is a good outdoor living space.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25You could definitely have barbecues out here.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28This property has impressed, but...

0:16:28 > 0:16:30It's nice, but it's too big for three of us.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33And with £300,000 to spend,

0:16:33 > 0:16:36would the family be able to afford the dream house?

0:16:37 > 0:16:39I think it's about 420.

0:16:39 > 0:16:44I reckon about between 375 and 390.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46Shall we find out the price, then?

0:16:46 > 0:16:49- Yep.- Go on, go for it.

0:16:49 > 0:16:50Let's do it.

0:16:57 > 0:16:58Wow. You was dead on.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00- Yeah.- 420.- Dead on.

0:17:00 > 0:17:04At 40% over budget, it's out of reach for now,

0:17:04 > 0:17:07unless the Chahals can considerably up their earnings down under.

0:17:07 > 0:17:10The family's property hunt has been enlightening.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13Property one was under budget,

0:17:13 > 0:17:17but lacked the space they needed in the bedrooms.

0:17:17 > 0:17:19The second property was an all-round hit,

0:17:19 > 0:17:21and at a price they could afford.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24Although the final property did have the wow factor,

0:17:24 > 0:17:27they felt it was too big for their needs, and their budget.

0:17:27 > 0:17:31So when it comes to houses down under, will it be home or away?

0:17:31 > 0:17:34After a busy day looking at Australian property, we're going to vote...

0:17:49 > 0:17:51- Undecided.- Australia.- Undecided!

0:17:53 > 0:17:55We haven't found a perfect one.

0:17:55 > 0:17:56I'm happy, anyway, for what I saw.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59It's just a step-by-step process.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02Let's see how the end of the week goes.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05All right, I suppose that's OK, it's better than a no.

0:18:09 > 0:18:13With both Aaron and Priya undecided about Aussie homes,

0:18:13 > 0:18:15Suckie's first day ends with a blow,

0:18:15 > 0:18:17but there's still some way to go.

0:18:18 > 0:18:22Spending more time together after the pain of losing loved ones

0:18:22 > 0:18:23is high on Suckie's agenda,

0:18:23 > 0:18:26something her job doesn't allow for back home.

0:18:26 > 0:18:31In the UK, I work three days a week as a beauty therapist.

0:18:31 > 0:18:36They are quite long days, so I'm out early and back late.

0:18:36 > 0:18:40In Australia, I would like to do more days, but cut the hours down,

0:18:40 > 0:18:42so we can just do a bit more together,

0:18:42 > 0:18:43and spend a bit more time

0:18:43 > 0:18:47than just that one hour in the evening that we get now.

0:18:47 > 0:18:51Suckie currently earns around £10,000 a year from her job,

0:18:51 > 0:18:54with an additional income of £12,000 from rental property.

0:18:54 > 0:18:58It's really important for me to get the right wage in Australia,

0:18:58 > 0:19:01because if I am the main breadwinner,

0:19:01 > 0:19:03we need to know it's going to work out there.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06To find out what her options might be in Melbourne,

0:19:06 > 0:19:08we've arranged for Suckie to visit a hair and beauty salon.

0:19:10 > 0:19:11Owner Mario gives her an insight

0:19:11 > 0:19:13into working in the beauty industry down under.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16There's a minimum requirement, for example,

0:19:16 > 0:19:18is you need a certificate three, or the equivalent.

0:19:18 > 0:19:22- Yeah.- You need to have the right skill set.

0:19:22 > 0:19:23- OK.- So some business background.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26- Yep.- And you also need to be trained in the latest techniques

0:19:26 > 0:19:28and the latest equipment we have.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Suckie satisfies most of the criteria,

0:19:31 > 0:19:33but she would have to brush up her skills

0:19:33 > 0:19:35in some of the newer procedures.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37You can get trained up pretty quickly.

0:19:37 > 0:19:41It may also be provided as part of your employment contract with the employer.

0:19:41 > 0:19:44- OK.- So up-skilling would be easy,

0:19:44 > 0:19:48but could a role down under mean more time at home?

0:19:48 > 0:19:51Well, typically the average working week's 38 hours.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54- OK.- And you'll work no more than one late night,

0:19:54 > 0:19:56and either the Saturday or the Sunday.

0:19:56 > 0:19:58That's better than the UK.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01So what about the all-important question of salary?

0:20:01 > 0:20:04There's a minimum requirement by the department of immigration

0:20:04 > 0:20:07to pay you a set amount and that equates to £28,500.

0:20:08 > 0:20:12That's almost three times what Suckie currently earns.

0:20:13 > 0:20:15I'm really happy to hear that.

0:20:15 > 0:20:19But what would her chances be of getting a job in a place like this?

0:20:19 > 0:20:21Well, at the moment, we don't have a vacancy,

0:20:21 > 0:20:25and we've also hit our limit with the number of people we're allowed to sponsor.

0:20:25 > 0:20:27- Yep.- Disappointing news, but...

0:20:27 > 0:20:30As far as your prospects are concerned,

0:20:30 > 0:20:33there is definitely a skill shortage in Australia for qualified beauty

0:20:33 > 0:20:34therapists and salon managers.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37My recommendation is you sit down with a qualified migration agent,

0:20:37 > 0:20:40and talk you through all the different options.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42That's put some of Suckie's concerns to rest.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46Meanwhile, across town,

0:20:46 > 0:20:49Priya's finding out about her job prospects down under.

0:20:49 > 0:20:52Back home, she's just finished training

0:20:52 > 0:20:54to be a primary school teacher.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57Work placements in UK schools have proved stressful,

0:20:57 > 0:21:02and she's keen to see if Australia could offer a better experience.

0:21:02 > 0:21:05To find out, she's visiting an independent school in Melbourne,

0:21:05 > 0:21:08where she is met by principal Jean Shaw

0:21:08 > 0:21:10and vice-principal Sophie Fenton.

0:21:10 > 0:21:12Come with me and we'll show you around.

0:21:12 > 0:21:16- We have our invitation for our kids, in terms of learning experiences. - OK.

0:21:16 > 0:21:18First, Priya gets to see things in action.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23We have our grade 3s working in this classroom at the moment.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26The school boasts a unique teaching method.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29You come, and you sit down on a couch, you sit on the floor,

0:21:29 > 0:21:31you maybe go and sit at a desk by choice, you are relaxed.

0:21:31 > 0:21:34- And when you are relaxed, your mind is open to learning.- Yeah.

0:21:34 > 0:21:40It's very different from what Priya has experienced so far in the UK.

0:21:40 > 0:21:42From when I first started to now,

0:21:42 > 0:21:44the stress levels in teaching are very, very high.

0:21:44 > 0:21:46At Sandridge School,

0:21:46 > 0:21:51we work towards giving teachers the space to be creative,

0:21:51 > 0:21:54and to have their own way to drive a teaching and learning environment.

0:21:54 > 0:21:58I think what's very impressive about you

0:21:58 > 0:22:02is that you are very aware of how things could be better.

0:22:02 > 0:22:06- Yeah.- The children need people who get it.

0:22:06 > 0:22:10So would Priya's three-year UK training be enough to get her

0:22:10 > 0:22:12a teaching job down under?

0:22:12 > 0:22:14You'd have about another year of work experience and training

0:22:14 > 0:22:16that you would do here, with support,

0:22:16 > 0:22:19and then you'd be qualified to be a teacher in Australia.

0:22:19 > 0:22:23Very encouraging, so what could she expect to earn?

0:22:23 > 0:22:25So, as a first-year teacher,

0:22:25 > 0:22:29you'd be earning about £30,000 a year in your first year.

0:22:29 > 0:22:33And then obviously the salary goes up each year as your experience increases.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36Wow, that salary's really good, compared to the UK.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39Do you think I could work in a school like yours?

0:22:39 > 0:22:42I would be quite confident to give you a trial.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45It's been an inspiring afternoon for Priya.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47That was helpful.

0:22:47 > 0:22:53It probably has made me think twice now a bit more about moving over here.

0:22:53 > 0:22:57So has what they've discovered today been enough to persuade Suckie

0:22:57 > 0:23:00and Priya to choose work in Australia over the UK?

0:23:01 > 0:23:04After a nervous but enjoyable work day, it's now time to vote.

0:23:20 > 0:23:21- Australia.- Indecisive!

0:23:21 > 0:23:25- Why?- Because everything's good,

0:23:25 > 0:23:27but I just don't think I'm ready to move yet.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30I think you've come negatively and you're thinking negative.

0:23:30 > 0:23:33- You're not going to stay positive. - When I come,

0:23:33 > 0:23:35I wasn't even going to come at all, or stay at all.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38Now I'm saying at least two, three...

0:23:38 > 0:23:41I am thinking about it, I'm just not ready yet.

0:23:41 > 0:23:46Priya's second vote for the UK is another setback for mum's dream.

0:23:50 > 0:23:53Suckie has been reassured by work prospects,

0:23:53 > 0:23:57but with Priya refusing to rush into a career down under,

0:23:57 > 0:24:01where the family's future lies looks far from certain.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04Believing the move would help give them all a fresh start after traumatic times,

0:24:04 > 0:24:10will a day experiencing Australia's lifestyle helps steer Suckie's

0:24:10 > 0:24:12dream in the right direction?

0:24:15 > 0:24:17The family start the day with a stroll

0:24:17 > 0:24:20through Melbourne's trendy urban area.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28Next up, a trip to Victoria market.

0:24:28 > 0:24:32It's been a popular attraction in Melbourne for more than a century,

0:24:32 > 0:24:34and, at around 17 acres,

0:24:34 > 0:24:37is the largest open-air market in the southern hemisphere.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40Days out like this don't happen often back home.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43I think it's really nice that we are all out together.

0:24:44 > 0:24:48It's something we wouldn't do in the UK, so, yeah,

0:24:48 > 0:24:50I think it's good for all of us.

0:24:50 > 0:24:53As the family enjoy a picnic in one of the nearby parks,

0:24:53 > 0:24:56Suckie seizes the opportunity for a bit of hard sell.

0:24:56 > 0:25:00It's nice that we've had the chance to do this.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03We could see ourselves doing more of this out here in Australia.

0:25:06 > 0:25:08I think you can make it work here.

0:25:11 > 0:25:15Here, I wouldn't have to work weekends all the time.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18But it doesn't seem to be having the desired effect.

0:25:18 > 0:25:20Any of you actually listening to what I'm saying?

0:25:20 > 0:25:23- No.- No?- No.

0:25:23 > 0:25:27Can you just stop talking about it for, like, two minutes?

0:25:29 > 0:25:31Please?

0:25:32 > 0:25:34Suckie's getting frustrated.

0:25:35 > 0:25:38Yeah, I'm a bit disappointed in the way they're reacting.

0:25:38 > 0:25:39I think my mum feels a bit...

0:25:41 > 0:25:45..a bit, I wouldn't say annoyed, a bit agitated,

0:25:45 > 0:25:48because she really wants to make this work,

0:25:48 > 0:25:51but it's just not suiting me and my sister.

0:25:51 > 0:25:54I can't actually understand why it's so urgent to move now.

0:25:54 > 0:25:59Maybe in, like, three, four years' time, but not yet.

0:25:59 > 0:26:02Sometimes I do feel Aaron and Priya are not taking this serious.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05I think we are taking it seriously,

0:26:05 > 0:26:08it's just the fact that I think my mum's

0:26:08 > 0:26:10got Australia in her head too much.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14The last two years in the UK have been really, really hard for us.

0:26:14 > 0:26:19For all three of us. But that should be a wake-up call to them,

0:26:19 > 0:26:22to Aaron and Priya, to say, look, life is too short.

0:26:22 > 0:26:26If my mum can't move to Australia, she will be disappointed,

0:26:26 > 0:26:28because she does want a new start.

0:26:28 > 0:26:32It's quite upsetting, knowing that I'm trying to give them a good life

0:26:32 > 0:26:34in Australia, that is less stressful.

0:26:34 > 0:26:37It's not relaxed in the UK. And that will never change.

0:26:37 > 0:26:40So I can't understand why they're being so selfish,

0:26:40 > 0:26:43and not trying to change it themselves.

0:26:43 > 0:26:47It's been a day of highs and lows for Suckie,

0:26:47 > 0:26:49so when it comes to lifestyle,

0:26:49 > 0:26:54has it done anything to sway Aaron and Priya around to her way of thinking?

0:26:54 > 0:26:55So now it's time to vote...

0:27:12 > 0:27:15- Undecided.- Australia.- Undecided.

0:27:15 > 0:27:16So why did you vote undecided?

0:27:16 > 0:27:19I'm not sure, I think it's just the fact that Melbourne,

0:27:19 > 0:27:21it just seems like England.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24I really don't think it's anything like England.

0:27:24 > 0:27:25There's not a massive change.

0:27:26 > 0:27:27Well, in my eyes there is.

0:27:28 > 0:27:32- I think you're just never going to get off it, are you? - No.- Until you're here.

0:27:32 > 0:27:35But it's up to you guys, it's up to you guys,

0:27:35 > 0:27:37if you can't understand I'm trying to give you a better future...

0:27:41 > 0:27:44With both her children still undecided about a move,

0:27:44 > 0:27:49perhaps a glimpse into student life down under could help persuade Aaron

0:27:49 > 0:27:51Oz could be an option.

0:27:51 > 0:27:55We've arranged for the family to visit Melbourne Institute of Technology.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58Ranked in the top 15 universities in Australia,

0:27:58 > 0:28:01it boasts a strong international student presence.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04They are met by Associate Professor Jonathan Boymal.

0:28:04 > 0:28:07- Hello.- Hi. Welcome to MIT University.

0:28:07 > 0:28:09We have 12,000 students studying here,

0:28:09 > 0:28:13and they're studying everything from diplomas, bachelors degrees,

0:28:13 > 0:28:16masters degrees, all the way through to PhDs.

0:28:17 > 0:28:19It's not the traditional chalk and talk,

0:28:19 > 0:28:21with the lecturer standing up front.

0:28:21 > 0:28:23It really is designed for students

0:28:23 > 0:28:25to interact and learn from each other.

0:28:25 > 0:28:27So I'm interested in doing a business degree.

0:28:27 > 0:28:31Why would this university be the best place to do that?

0:28:31 > 0:28:34Sure, well, we offer a range of undergraduate degrees,

0:28:34 > 0:28:38in areas as diverse as marketing, management, international business.

0:28:38 > 0:28:42So all of our programmes have work-integrated learning activities,

0:28:42 > 0:28:45so you're ready for life and work when you graduate.

0:28:45 > 0:28:49Next, Jonathan introduces Aaron to a couple of undergraduates.

0:28:49 > 0:28:53Aaron's keen to know how being a student here might help shape his future.

0:28:53 > 0:28:57Is this university the place to, like, think about being an entrepreneur,

0:28:57 > 0:29:01or anything along running your own business?

0:29:01 > 0:29:02- Is it good for that?- It is.

0:29:02 > 0:29:05I find it's fantastic, especially when you do study business,

0:29:05 > 0:29:08they offer all these opportunities where you can be in a team,

0:29:08 > 0:29:10or by yourself.

0:29:10 > 0:29:12Sounds like the perfect place to learn.

0:29:12 > 0:29:15I honestly wouldn't have wanted to study anywhere else for business.

0:29:15 > 0:29:17This is probably the best university for it.

0:29:17 > 0:29:19It's been fantastic.

0:29:19 > 0:29:21Strong endorsements,

0:29:21 > 0:29:24but is it enough to convince Aaron to move to the other side of the world.

0:29:24 > 0:29:28Today gave me a bit of a sense that I could study here,

0:29:28 > 0:29:30but it might have to take a bit more

0:29:30 > 0:29:33to get me influenced in moving to Australia.

0:29:33 > 0:29:36That's not really what Mum was hoping to hear.

0:29:36 > 0:29:37It's just something...

0:29:37 > 0:29:40You don't think there's more options here then?

0:29:42 > 0:29:44As I said, I'm not sure about it.

0:29:44 > 0:29:47- You've got to think about it. - I've got to think a lot about it. - OK.

0:29:53 > 0:29:56With both children still sitting on the fence,

0:29:56 > 0:30:00Suckie's hopes of a new life for the family could be slipping away,

0:30:00 > 0:30:04but if the figures prove positive, could she still win them round?

0:30:04 > 0:30:08Getting the right price for her home in the UK would be a good start.

0:30:08 > 0:30:12Suckie thinks it's worth £230,000.

0:30:12 > 0:30:16We sent two local estate agents round to see if she's right.

0:30:16 > 0:30:19- Oh.- The house looks different. - It looks good, doesn't it?- Yeah.

0:30:19 > 0:30:22ALARM BEEPS

0:30:22 > 0:30:23I love it. The beeping!

0:30:26 > 0:30:28Really nice modern hallway.

0:30:28 > 0:30:30Really good first impression.

0:30:35 > 0:30:36Nice family lounge.

0:30:36 > 0:30:39- Good space.- Looks big. - Looks empty though, doesn't it?

0:30:39 > 0:30:41- Yeah, it does look empty. - But it does look nice.

0:30:48 > 0:30:49Small garden.

0:30:49 > 0:30:52Nice patio area, but not very much grass area.

0:30:52 > 0:30:56- What? That's quite big grass there. - Yeah. That's a bit cheeky, that.

0:30:56 > 0:30:58Yeah. I think that's a bit cheeky.

0:30:58 > 0:30:59There's a lot of grass there.

0:30:59 > 0:31:02OK, really nice open-plan kitchen.

0:31:02 > 0:31:04Really good size.

0:31:04 > 0:31:05Fresh, modern.

0:31:12 > 0:31:13OK, the main master bedroom,

0:31:13 > 0:31:16bit on the small side which may deter some buyers.

0:31:16 > 0:31:19It does have the en-suite just to the side.

0:31:19 > 0:31:21- Your room looks tiny. - It does look small.

0:31:21 > 0:31:26Your standard house bathroom would be better if it had a shower.

0:31:26 > 0:31:28But nice tiling.

0:31:28 > 0:31:32In today's market, I would put the property on the market for 230,000,

0:31:32 > 0:31:34if the vendors were looking for a quick sale,

0:31:34 > 0:31:36I would put the property on the market for 220,000.

0:31:36 > 0:31:40I would value this house at £220,000.

0:31:40 > 0:31:44For a quick sale, I would put it on the market at 212,500.

0:31:44 > 0:31:46He doesn't know what he's on about, I'm sorry.

0:31:46 > 0:31:49If the owners wanted to rent the property,

0:31:49 > 0:31:52I would suggest a monthly rental of £850 per calendar month.

0:31:52 > 0:31:54- AARON:- That's good.- Rental's good. - Yeah, that is good.

0:31:54 > 0:31:57- It's not about a bog-standard house. - Yeah.- It's upgraded.

0:31:57 > 0:32:00No, I don't think they've done that right.

0:32:00 > 0:32:02With mixed reaction to the valuations,

0:32:02 > 0:32:06it's now time for the family to examine the everyday cost of living.

0:32:06 > 0:32:10We've provided a comparison between the UK and Australia.

0:32:10 > 0:32:12First up is the weekly shopping bill.

0:32:14 > 0:32:16- Bread.- Is 1.08.

0:32:16 > 0:32:19- In Australia.- Yeah, in Australia.

0:32:19 > 0:32:22- Lettuce.- Which is 1.80 in Australia.

0:32:22 > 0:32:24- 1.80.- Double.

0:32:24 > 0:32:26- Cucumber.- 75 in Australia.

0:32:26 > 0:32:28- Cheaper.- Which is good, that's cheaper.

0:32:28 > 0:32:30- Cans of pop.- We're going to have the shock of our lives.

0:32:30 > 0:32:326.19 in Australia.

0:32:32 > 0:32:346.19.

0:32:34 > 0:32:39- Total?- That gives you a total of £78.09.

0:32:39 > 0:32:42That's extra £22 a week on food alone.

0:32:42 > 0:32:46That's quite a lot more than what I was expecting.

0:32:46 > 0:32:49Back in the UK, the Chahals are mortgage free.

0:32:49 > 0:32:52Basing their sums on the second property they saw,

0:32:52 > 0:32:55a home down under would cost them £360 a month

0:32:55 > 0:32:58and then there's the other household bills.

0:32:58 > 0:33:02So, gas is 35 in the UK.

0:33:02 > 0:33:06- 35.- And it is 66 in Australia.

0:33:06 > 0:33:09- 66.- Oh. So, everything seems to be double in Australia.

0:33:09 > 0:33:12- Double. Yeah.- Let's hope the wages cover this then.

0:33:12 > 0:33:15Suckie's getting worried, but suddenly things start to look up.

0:33:15 > 0:33:20Car insurance and MOT is 328 in the UK.

0:33:20 > 0:33:22328.

0:33:22 > 0:33:24And it's only actually 70 in Australia.

0:33:24 > 0:33:26What? £258...

0:33:26 > 0:33:30..we're saving. So, if you look at that, how can you say...?

0:33:30 > 0:33:34That's probably levelled it out straightaway.

0:33:34 > 0:33:36I was having a bit of a panic at the beginning.

0:33:36 > 0:33:38Yeah. Maybe. Maybe it's OK.

0:33:38 > 0:33:41So, factoring in the rest of the household bills...

0:33:41 > 0:33:47OK, £365 worse off in Australia, but then it depends on wage.

0:33:47 > 0:33:50My wages are double here for the same amount of hours.

0:33:50 > 0:33:53- More than double, actually. - Yeah, so it could work.

0:33:53 > 0:33:56Taking their Australian earnings into account,

0:33:56 > 0:33:57the result's more positive.

0:33:59 > 0:34:03£371 better off in Australia.

0:34:03 > 0:34:09£371 better off a month in Australia.

0:34:11 > 0:34:14That's £4,452.

0:34:14 > 0:34:18- Write that down. - That's almost £4,500 a year.

0:34:18 > 0:34:21Mum's waiting for the cheers.

0:34:21 > 0:34:24No reaction off you two? Blimey, what do you...?

0:34:24 > 0:34:25That is really good.

0:34:25 > 0:34:27I don't know.

0:34:27 > 0:34:30That is telling you you can have a better lifestyle here.

0:34:30 > 0:34:33It's more doable here than it is in the UK.

0:34:33 > 0:34:35Because I haven't... What life do we have?

0:34:35 > 0:34:37I'm just scraping it with my wages there.

0:34:37 > 0:34:41It's better, but it's not...

0:34:41 > 0:34:43It's not a huge, huge amount.

0:34:43 > 0:34:45It's a lot. Nearly £400 more.

0:34:45 > 0:34:49I know. But it's not a huge, huge amount to think of moving like...

0:34:49 > 0:34:55Yeah, it's not a huge amount, but it's still enough to enjoy it.

0:34:55 > 0:34:57Personally for me,

0:34:57 > 0:34:59I'm coming because I can afford a better lifestyle here.

0:34:59 > 0:35:01Yeah, good for you. It's good for you.

0:35:01 > 0:35:02Let's find out on the vote.

0:35:02 > 0:35:05It's not quite the reaction Suckie was hoping for.

0:35:05 > 0:35:10So, based on finances, how will Aaron and Priya vote?

0:35:10 > 0:35:14After a constructive reality check, it's now time to vote.

0:35:27 > 0:35:29- ALL:- Australia!

0:35:32 > 0:35:34Oh, my!

0:35:35 > 0:35:40- I thought you were going to say UK. - What made you change your mind?

0:35:40 > 0:35:43The money difference, it does make sense to come here.

0:35:45 > 0:35:48The figures just show you get a bit more of a cushion here.

0:35:48 > 0:35:51I'm actually feeling really happy to hear that you've at least done

0:35:51 > 0:35:54one Australia vote, so you are thinking about it.

0:35:54 > 0:35:56Oh, you've made my day.

0:35:56 > 0:36:00- Oh!- For now.- OK. - For now, for now, for now.

0:36:10 > 0:36:13With Aaron and Priya's first vote for Australia,

0:36:13 > 0:36:16Suckie's dream of a new life down under may finally be getting off

0:36:16 > 0:36:18the starting blocks.

0:36:20 > 0:36:22But moving halfway around the world

0:36:22 > 0:36:25will mean breaking close bonds in the UK.

0:36:28 > 0:36:30Oh, I'm excited for this moment.

0:36:30 > 0:36:33As the family prepare to watch messages from loved ones back home,

0:36:33 > 0:36:35will the thought of leaving those

0:36:35 > 0:36:37who have supported them through difficult times

0:36:37 > 0:36:39put Suckie back at square one?

0:36:39 > 0:36:44- Hi.- Hi, Aaron.- Hello!- Hi, Priya. Hi, Suckie.

0:36:44 > 0:36:47- Hi, Suckie. - Hi, Suckie.- It's your mum and dad.

0:36:47 > 0:36:49- Hi!- Hi, Suckie.

0:36:49 > 0:36:53Hope you're having a fab time and got all the answers that you were looking for.

0:36:53 > 0:36:56I think what my sister's gone through in the last few...

0:36:56 > 0:37:00The last two years is something that actually has made her stronger.

0:37:00 > 0:37:02She's had to cope on her own a lot.

0:37:02 > 0:37:05I think she's just... I think she's amazing.

0:37:05 > 0:37:06I think she's so strong.

0:37:06 > 0:37:10Priya's one of those people you can go to when you need girly advice,

0:37:10 > 0:37:11she's always there.

0:37:11 > 0:37:13Aaron's a really good friend.

0:37:13 > 0:37:15He's always there for you when you need help.

0:37:15 > 0:37:16He's really funny, as well.

0:37:16 > 0:37:18Aaron's more like a little brother to me.

0:37:18 > 0:37:20- Come on, man. - I've got so much love for him.

0:37:20 > 0:37:22Suckie's like a second mother to me.

0:37:22 > 0:37:24The way she's looked after me. Priya's like a little sister.

0:37:24 > 0:37:26They're absolutely wonderful as a family.

0:37:26 > 0:37:30Well, my sister's always talked about moving abroad.

0:37:30 > 0:37:32She deserves her dreams to come true.

0:37:32 > 0:37:34I think now she wants to grab life with both hands.

0:37:34 > 0:37:38It's like she wants to appreciate every single moment for her and the kids

0:37:38 > 0:37:41and make sure they live a full and happy life.

0:37:41 > 0:37:44It's going to be very difficult.

0:37:44 > 0:37:47With the sad situation we're in at the moment.

0:37:49 > 0:37:52But it's very, very sad, I'm afraid.

0:37:55 > 0:38:00It's going to be quite hard, but if he's happy, it's the right decision.

0:38:00 > 0:38:03And we will be very, very sad if she decides to make a move.

0:38:04 > 0:38:08I think my daughter knows that. She knows we're going to miss her.

0:38:08 > 0:38:09She's going to miss us, as well.

0:38:13 > 0:38:15Honestly, I'd miss them like crazy.

0:38:15 > 0:38:17But I'd be happy in the fact of knowing that they'd be out there

0:38:17 > 0:38:20and they're living their lives and they're doing what they need to do.

0:38:20 > 0:38:24That's probably we what would make me and probably my family feel better.

0:38:24 > 0:38:27Aaron, I know you've had a rough couple of years recently

0:38:27 > 0:38:28and it could be a fresh start for you.

0:38:28 > 0:38:31But we as friends ultimately would want you to stay

0:38:31 > 0:38:32here in England.

0:38:32 > 0:38:34Aaron, I love you, little bro.

0:38:34 > 0:38:36Do what makes your heart happy.

0:38:36 > 0:38:39Priya, whatever choice you make, we're happy if you're happy.

0:38:39 > 0:38:41Suckie, we love you to bits and we're so proud of you.

0:38:41 > 0:38:44Follow your heart. Love you.

0:38:44 > 0:38:48I don't want you missing Ishan growing up and he needs you guys to help him grow up.

0:38:48 > 0:38:53Life would be different here now for us as a family,

0:38:53 > 0:38:55so they will be missed.

0:38:56 > 0:38:59OK, Suckie. This is your final decision.

0:38:59 > 0:39:01I hope you make the right choice.

0:39:01 > 0:39:08But as a parent, as your dad, I wish you don't go.

0:39:08 > 0:39:10But at the end of the day, it's your choice.

0:39:10 > 0:39:15But my thinking is it's a long way, you shouldn't really go.

0:39:15 > 0:39:18I'll be happy if you stay here.

0:39:19 > 0:39:21Making me cry now.

0:39:24 > 0:39:27- I didn't expect that. - Does that change your thoughts?

0:39:27 > 0:39:29Or has it kept at the same?

0:39:29 > 0:39:30- No.- It's changed mine.

0:39:30 > 0:39:32Yeah, definitely.

0:39:32 > 0:39:35I don't realise how much people actually feel.

0:39:35 > 0:39:36If you're not here.

0:39:38 > 0:39:43- What about you?- I don't know. It's just the fact that when...

0:39:43 > 0:39:46By the sounds of it, everyone wants us to stay, not go.

0:39:46 > 0:39:49Yeah, life moves on. Life is different. You have to move on.

0:39:49 > 0:39:51Maybe we don't want to move on that quickly like that.

0:39:51 > 0:39:53It's different for you.

0:39:53 > 0:39:55It's harder for us.

0:39:55 > 0:39:59- But then you know how hard it is for me, as well.- Yeah, I know.

0:39:59 > 0:40:02There's so many memories in England what bring back Dad

0:40:02 > 0:40:06and obviously your brother, but there's nothing here.

0:40:06 > 0:40:08There's no memories here.

0:40:08 > 0:40:10You can think of them in whatever country you're in.

0:40:10 > 0:40:13We just have to see how we vote then.

0:40:18 > 0:40:23Messages from the UK were a poignant reminder of the close bonds

0:40:23 > 0:40:25the family share with loved ones back home.

0:40:25 > 0:40:30Now, the family must face the biggest decision of their lives.

0:40:30 > 0:40:33With just one vote for Australia from Aaron and Priya so far,

0:40:33 > 0:40:37could the dream that Suckie nurtured for nearly three decades

0:40:37 > 0:40:39be about to burn out once and for all?

0:40:43 > 0:40:48The trial week has left Suckie more convinced than ever Australia

0:40:48 > 0:40:50can offer the fresh start she's desperate for.

0:40:50 > 0:40:52I know which way I'm going.

0:40:52 > 0:40:54I know exactly where my thoughts are.

0:40:54 > 0:40:58But which way the children will vote is still very unclear.

0:40:58 > 0:41:01My mum's probably got, like, butterflies in her stomach thinking

0:41:01 > 0:41:03about the decision, what we're going to do.

0:41:03 > 0:41:07At the moment, I'm feeling pretty nervous,

0:41:07 > 0:41:09just because I don't want to disappoint my mum.

0:41:09 > 0:41:11I think I know what I'm going to do,

0:41:11 > 0:41:14but I'll keep my cards close to my chest.

0:41:14 > 0:41:16Yeah, I'm going to make a decision which is the best decision.

0:41:17 > 0:41:19I'm not just going to do it for the sake of it.

0:41:19 > 0:41:22It's been a make or break seven days,

0:41:22 > 0:41:26so will the final turn of the cards see Suckie secure her dream?

0:41:26 > 0:41:29After an interesting, but exhausting week,

0:41:29 > 0:41:31it's now time for the final votes.

0:41:50 > 0:41:53- Australia!- Australia!- Thank you!

0:41:55 > 0:41:58I'm actually glad that you voted... Especially you!

0:41:58 > 0:42:01I never knew which way she was going to go!

0:42:01 > 0:42:03Oh, yeah, I'm happy.

0:42:03 > 0:42:07- I'm really pleased. - Financially, it is better for us.

0:42:07 > 0:42:09I mean, university, as well, that was good.

0:42:09 > 0:42:10It's better. I'm just...

0:42:10 > 0:42:13I know the family and friends bit have just a bit...

0:42:13 > 0:42:15- I'm going to be a bit stuck on. But, yeah.- Yeah.

0:42:16 > 0:42:20Overall, this week has made me think hard.

0:42:20 > 0:42:22Like, hard about leaving.

0:42:22 > 0:42:25I'm glad you started to think that way. Really relieved.

0:42:26 > 0:42:28Are you glad that you came?

0:42:28 > 0:42:30Yeah. It's good to see it, as well.

0:42:30 > 0:42:32- Yeah.- It's good for you to see it, as well.

0:42:32 > 0:42:34- Yeah.- I needed to see it.

0:42:34 > 0:42:37You've been in, like, fairyland, that's what it is.

0:42:37 > 0:42:39Now you've actually seen it, as well.

0:42:39 > 0:42:41I'm in more fairyland now.

0:42:41 > 0:42:43I do appreciate it.

0:42:43 > 0:42:45It was hard to vote, I'm not going to lie.

0:42:45 > 0:42:46- Yeah.- I can imagine it was hard.

0:42:46 > 0:42:48My stomach was hurting.

0:42:48 > 0:42:50I'm not going to say it was easy for you guys.

0:42:52 > 0:42:57It's been an emotional and at times frustrating week for Suckie.
