0:00:44 > 0:00:47I can't go to a new country and be worse off than we are currently.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50..Candice's future could remain under a cloud.

0:01:13 > 0:01:16With a population of almost half that of London

0:01:16 > 0:01:19and over 2,000 hours of sunshine each year,

0:01:19 > 0:01:22it's no wonder New Zealand's a draw for Brits

0:01:22 > 0:01:24seeking a brighter future down under.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27But achieving the dream lifestyle on the other side of the world

0:01:27 > 0:01:30doesn't always work out, and every year,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32many return with their dreams shattered.

0:01:33 > 0:01:37Candice Crawford uprooted her husband and children

0:01:37 > 0:01:41to relocate to South Africa in 2010,

0:01:41 > 0:01:44but while the weather was everything she wanted,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47the move left them fearing for their safety,

0:01:47 > 0:01:49and five years after arriving,

0:01:49 > 0:01:51they returned to the UK.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53But Candice can't settle.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57Desperate to give her young family a healthy outdoor lifestyle,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00she has now set her sights on New Zealand.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04So, will a week down under be enough to convince husband Sean

0:02:04 > 0:02:07it's worth displacing the family yet again

0:02:07 > 0:02:09to make a new life in a country

0:02:09 > 0:02:12neither of them have ever even visited?

0:02:16 > 0:02:19The Crawfords had been travelling for almost 72 hours

0:02:19 > 0:02:22by the time they finally touched down in New Zealand,

0:02:22 > 0:02:25and it shows.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27The flight was absolutely exhausting.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29Long, long flight.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30Very long.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33They've only had a birds-eye view of the country so far,

0:02:33 > 0:02:35but they're impressed.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Shannon and I kind of worked the camera's phone memory.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40We've taken so many photos.

0:02:40 > 0:02:41It's absolutely beautiful.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45Candice is already feeling the benefits of the southern hemisphere.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49Everyone has been so friendly, and everyone is so chilled out.

0:02:49 > 0:02:50It's just, it's so different.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53It makes you feel lighter.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57And having made it halfway around the globe, Sean's raring to go.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00You know, now we're here, I just want us all to get going

0:03:00 > 0:03:03and start seeing things. Good start so far.

0:03:03 > 0:03:07Let's hope the positivity continues in the week ahead.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10At the end of it, the family will have to make up their minds

0:03:10 > 0:03:12once and for all where their future lies.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17The Crawford family are dad Sean,

0:03:17 > 0:03:19mum Candice,

0:03:19 > 0:03:20Shannon, who is nine,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22and seven-year-old Nathan.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25They live in County Durham in England.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28South-African-born Candice met Sean during a working holiday

0:03:28 > 0:03:30in the UK in 2005.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33We met through our mutual friend Gemma, and she said to me,

0:03:33 > 0:03:36"I just know someone who would be perfect for you."

0:03:36 > 0:03:37We hit it off straightaway,

0:03:37 > 0:03:39and we started going out in the June.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42A whirlwind romance followed, and one year later,

0:03:42 > 0:03:44the couple were married.

0:03:44 > 0:03:45Shannon came soon after,

0:03:45 > 0:03:49so it was adapting to married life and becoming parents.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Two years on, Nathan arrived, and the couple settled into

0:03:52 > 0:03:54raising their young family,

0:03:54 > 0:03:57but Candice found it hard to adjust to life in England.

0:03:59 > 0:04:01Candice was very homesick.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03She missed all of her family and everything,

0:04:03 > 0:04:07cos she left South Africa when she was, you know, quite young.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09I got quite depressed.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13And I started seeing a counsellor, and I was on tablets and everything,

0:04:13 > 0:04:15and it's just...it's no way to live.

0:04:15 > 0:04:16Yearning for some sunshine,

0:04:16 > 0:04:19Candice had had enough of being in the UK.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22I actually gave Sean an ultimatum of

0:04:22 > 0:04:24we either give it a go in South Africa

0:04:24 > 0:04:27or I'd have to go back by myself.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31With their future happiness at stake, Sean agreed to make the move.

0:04:32 > 0:04:36Being back on home turf proved just the tonic for Candice.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39I got happier, our marriage got stronger.

0:04:39 > 0:04:43We had a great social life, our kids had wonderful friends.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47Everyone was sorted. I think the sun gives people a lot of happiness.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50But not everything was perfect with their new life.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52You never felt 100% safe.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55You always had to have your doors locked.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57There were bars on nearly every window.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59It just became a struggle.

0:04:59 > 0:05:03Things came to a head one morning during the school run.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05I was on my way, taking the kids to school,

0:05:05 > 0:05:07and a taxi ran us off the road,

0:05:07 > 0:05:10and it wasn't only that he ran us off the road,

0:05:10 > 0:05:12he laughed at us while the kids were in hysterics.

0:05:15 > 0:05:18In spite of all the positives South Africa offered,

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Candice felt they had no option but to get out.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24Why should we live there and have our children in fear

0:05:24 > 0:05:27every single day of their lives? Because from that moment,

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Shannon and Nathan were never the same again.

0:05:29 > 0:05:31The family packed up their lives again,

0:05:31 > 0:05:34and returned to the relative safety of the UK,

0:05:34 > 0:05:37but less than one year on...

0:05:37 > 0:05:39I can't settle.

0:05:39 > 0:05:43There's... I just find that I lose all sense of me

0:05:43 > 0:05:46and all sense of purpose.

0:05:46 > 0:05:48I need the sun to thrive in life,

0:05:48 > 0:05:52and I need my outdoor lifestyle.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54And over here, I'm not getting that.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56The weather is the be-all and end-all, to be honest.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58It's a big factor.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03It's not the kind of future Candice wants for her young family.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07I feel, with being indoors all the time, it's suffocating.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11And I don't feel it's a way to bring up our kids.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14To me, there's not as much laughter as there used to be,

0:06:14 > 0:06:16and I really want to get that back.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22And although Sean is content to be back home...

0:06:22 > 0:06:24I do feel fairly settled.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26..he knows things have to change.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29But obviously, as a complete package,

0:06:29 > 0:06:31as a family, we're not 100% happy.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34It puts a huge wedge between us,

0:06:34 > 0:06:38because, obviously, England is home to you.

0:06:41 > 0:06:45Now, Candice believes she's found the perfect place for her family.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49New Zealand seems to offer us the peace of mind

0:06:49 > 0:06:50of the outdoor lifestyle

0:06:50 > 0:06:54and the safety of being here in England.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56But Sean's going to need a lot of convincing

0:06:56 > 0:06:59before he'll consider uprooting yet again.

0:06:59 > 0:07:01We'll have to have a beautiful house.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04You know, the kids have to have a fantastic school,

0:07:04 > 0:07:07financially better off, you know, decent jobs to go to.

0:07:07 > 0:07:11I can't go to a new country and be worse off than we are currently.

0:07:11 > 0:07:13And much as she wants to go,

0:07:13 > 0:07:17Candice realises the decision to emigrate can't be made lightly.

0:07:17 > 0:07:20I'm a bit nervous in case it bombs out, cos what then?

0:07:21 > 0:07:24- Yeah, your dream would end if it's not what you think.- Yeah.

0:07:24 > 0:07:29I mean, I'm desperate to have a change of lifestyle,

0:07:29 > 0:07:32but making sure that everyone would be happy, not just me.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34Cos I'd hate to go over

0:07:34 > 0:07:37for you to be in my position

0:07:37 > 0:07:39or the kids to be in my position.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43I think it has to make sense for everybody, not just one.

0:07:55 > 0:07:58For their trial week, the family are staying in Tauranga,

0:07:58 > 0:08:02the fifth largest city in New Zealand's North Island.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Home for the week is a three-bedroom beach house.

0:08:05 > 0:08:09So, what will their first impressions of Kiwi living be?

0:08:09 > 0:08:10It's wooden!

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Oh, this is nice.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20Oh, look, it's got a little back courtyard.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23- Big windows.- Oh, it's nice.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25So far, so good.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28The master bedroom opens onto a sunny decking area,

0:08:28 > 0:08:31which should please Candice.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33Wow. I really like this.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36The house has patios front and rear.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39It's a nice little courtyard.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41You can have some morning breakfast here, hey?

0:08:41 > 0:08:43Sean's got a better idea.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45Sit here for a few beers.

0:08:45 > 0:08:48Surprisingly, Candice is keen to get back indoors.

0:08:48 > 0:08:50The sun...

0:08:50 > 0:08:52I'm not used to it.

0:08:52 > 0:08:54Shannon and Nathan seem settled,

0:08:54 > 0:08:57but Mum's finding it hard to unwind.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00I think I'm just being apprehensive, because it's all suddenly real.

0:09:00 > 0:09:03Sean's feeling more relaxed.

0:09:03 > 0:09:06I was kind of coming blind,

0:09:06 > 0:09:09but I've been pleasantly surprised with what I've seen so far.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12But addressing his worries in the days ahead will be key.

0:09:12 > 0:09:15The main one for me to...

0:09:15 > 0:09:18to make me want to move here is being financially better off.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21As long as it all ties in, then I'm open to it.

0:09:21 > 0:09:25This could be, potentially, the life that we want to lead.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27We've done a lot of growing,

0:09:27 > 0:09:30and now we kind of just want to do that grown-up part.

0:09:30 > 0:09:33Fingers crossed it all works out by the end of the week.

0:09:41 > 0:09:43Back in England, the Crawfords rent a three-storey,

0:09:43 > 0:09:48four-bedroom new-build in the market town of Bernard Castle.

0:09:48 > 0:09:52It's a lovely house, lovely area, but we don't have a garage,

0:09:52 > 0:09:54we don't literally have cupboards

0:09:54 > 0:09:56to, you know, to store things in.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59The couple plan to buy a home in New Zealand,

0:09:59 > 0:10:03and have set themselves a budget of £335,000.

0:10:03 > 0:10:07Candice has a clear idea of what she wants from a Kiwi home.

0:10:07 > 0:10:12Space. We really like the whole open-plan entertainment

0:10:12 > 0:10:14sort of feel to a house.

0:10:14 > 0:10:18Big kitchen island. A walk-in wardrobe would be nice.

0:10:18 > 0:10:20THEY LAUGH

0:10:20 > 0:10:25And a nice yard for the kids, because they love being outdoors.

0:10:25 > 0:10:26There has to be a space to play football.

0:10:26 > 0:10:28I'm not happy if there isn't, so...

0:10:29 > 0:10:33To give them an idea of what their money could buy in New Zealand,

0:10:33 > 0:10:35today we'll show them three properties.

0:10:35 > 0:10:40Two on budget, and one which should match their vision of a dream home.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42House-hunting begins in Welcome Bay.

0:10:42 > 0:10:4412 minutes drive from Tauranga city,

0:10:44 > 0:10:46it's a family friendly beach-side suburb

0:10:46 > 0:10:50often described as the area's best-kept secret.

0:10:50 > 0:10:51But will this stone built,

0:10:51 > 0:10:54three-bedroom house have the space the Crawfords are looking for?

0:10:54 > 0:10:56Nice palm trees.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59- Garage, that's always a bonus. - Yeah, it is.

0:10:59 > 0:11:00It's a double as well.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02It looks like a nice house.

0:11:02 > 0:11:03Yeah.

0:11:06 > 0:11:07This is nice.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11- I like the massive TV. - This is lovely.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14Things are off to a good start.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16It would fit our furniture really well.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20- NATHAN:- Nice view. - That's really pretty.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22Nice dining area.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25Yeah, it's definitely a really good size.

0:11:25 > 0:11:26Nice size, yeah.

0:11:26 > 0:11:30I quite like the kitchen looking out into the garden.

0:11:30 > 0:11:31I quite like it, just a little bit small.

0:11:31 > 0:11:34Size certainly isn't an issue with the master bedroom.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38Oh, this is a really good-sized room.

0:11:38 > 0:11:39- This is nice.- Hey?

0:11:39 > 0:11:42- I really like this.- It's lovely.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45- Is that en suite, by chance? - I'm hoping. There we go.

0:11:45 > 0:11:47- It is.- Oh, nice.- There's a shower and a bath.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49It's actually the family bathroom,

0:11:49 > 0:11:51but Sean has spotted something missing.

0:11:51 > 0:11:54- Is there no toilet in here? - I don't know.

0:11:54 > 0:11:55Oh, no. There's not.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58- Where's the toilet?- Just a bath and shower.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00Candice doesn't mind.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02That's actually awesome.

0:12:02 > 0:12:04What's through there?

0:12:04 > 0:12:06- What's in there?- The toilet!

0:12:06 > 0:12:09- Ah!- Ah, that's where it's hiding. - THEY LAUGH

0:12:11 > 0:12:14Sean is not exactly blown away with the layout.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17Yeah, I feel like the house just sort of stops.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19You're walking through, and then it just comes to an end.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22It's also fallen short on space.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24- Four rooms.- It would be nice to have a fourth bedroom

0:12:24 > 0:12:27- and maybe another bathroom, actually.- Yeah.

0:12:27 > 0:12:31Perhaps the garden will lift their spirits.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33Oh, wow. Look at that, guys.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37Oh, you'll have fun here.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39Nathan and Shannon make themselves at home.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42- SHANNON:- Hello! - CANDICE LAUGHS

0:12:43 > 0:12:46It's a nice private garden. There's nobody looking on.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49And another plus is there's plenty of room for a bit of footy.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52It's double the size of garden that we've got at the moment.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54- Yeah.- Well, probably, in fact, about four times the size.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57- This is lovely. I really like it. - Yeah. I do like it.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00The property has evoked a mixed response,

0:13:00 > 0:13:03but with £335,000 to spend,

0:13:03 > 0:13:05could they afford to call it home?

0:13:07 > 0:13:08Price time.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14I would say, back in England, something this size

0:13:14 > 0:13:16would probably be 150,000.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18Maybe up to 170.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21I think you're living in a dream world.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23At least 200 to 250.

0:13:26 > 0:13:28Let's have a look.

0:13:30 > 0:13:31Go on, Nathan.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36260,000.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38Wow, that's expensive.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40Yeah, no, I definitely wouldn't pay that.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42This is more expensive than our house in England.

0:13:42 > 0:13:46- Mm.- And we've got four beds. - Double the size.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49It's definitely not big enough for that price.

0:13:49 > 0:13:52- I agree on that one.- Seeing that price has put me further away

0:13:52 > 0:13:54- to want to move here. - Mm.- Definitely.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58OK, onto the next one. Let's go.

0:13:58 > 0:14:02Only one house viewed and Sean's already digging his heels in.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04It's not the best start for Candice.

0:14:04 > 0:14:08Hopefully, the next property can put a more positive spin on things.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11It's also in Welcome Bay.

0:14:11 > 0:14:15Will this spacious, three-bedroom family home help bring Dad round?

0:14:15 > 0:14:17Nice big garage.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19Oh, that's a nice entrance way.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Wow, this is huge.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26- SHANNON:- There's a nice balcony.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29- Oh, my word.- I like this.

0:14:29 > 0:14:31It's a promising start.

0:14:31 > 0:14:35The living area has got all the space they need and more.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37It's huge. We'd have to buy more furniture.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42Wow, look at the size of the window.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46All the better to take in the wonderful view...

0:14:48 > 0:14:52..though Sean's more concerned with the interior aspect.

0:14:52 > 0:14:55- Decor, dated.- What does that mean?

0:14:55 > 0:14:57It doesn't bother Candice.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00I think that we could definitely put our own stamp on it.

0:15:01 > 0:15:05The property's elevated position gives the perfect outlook.

0:15:05 > 0:15:06Wow, what a view.

0:15:06 > 0:15:10But once again, Sean can't seem to see beyond the end of his nose.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13I don't like the colour of the kitchen.

0:15:13 > 0:15:15- We could easily change that, though. - Yeah, we could change it.

0:15:15 > 0:15:17- It's a nice size.- Yeah. - It's a nice layout.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19Sure about that, Sean?

0:15:19 > 0:15:21This is a little bit strange.

0:15:21 > 0:15:22I've never seen this set-up before.

0:15:22 > 0:15:26It's a little bit outdated, but it can easily be redone.

0:15:26 > 0:15:30Candice isn't going to be defeated by a bit of DIY.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32- This is definitely more our style. - Yeah.

0:15:32 > 0:15:34- SHANNON:- I like it.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36And you wouldn't mind actually doing this up,

0:15:36 > 0:15:38cos you could kind of grow in it.

0:15:40 > 0:15:42The master bedroom is a hit.

0:15:42 > 0:15:44Wow. This is a nice place.

0:15:44 > 0:15:46Wow, this is huge.

0:15:46 > 0:15:50It looks like there's something connected there.

0:15:50 > 0:15:52There's an en suite in here.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55Oh. A big shower, toilet.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58It's thumbs up for the children's rooms, too.

0:15:58 > 0:16:01- Yeah, this is nice.- This is a really good-sized room.

0:16:01 > 0:16:03- It looks like a Shannon room. - SHANNON:- No.

0:16:03 > 0:16:04Well, almost.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06But built-in cupboards.

0:16:06 > 0:16:08I like it, but it's not mine.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12- This is really big.- So, so far,

0:16:12 > 0:16:14- three good-sized bedrooms... - A fourth would be nice, but, yeah.

0:16:14 > 0:16:16It's looking really...

0:16:16 > 0:16:18You haven't seen everything yet, Sean.

0:16:18 > 0:16:22- This is my favourite room. - Oh, wow.- Oh!

0:16:22 > 0:16:25The double garage has had a makeover.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27Well, this could be a fourth bedroom.

0:16:27 > 0:16:29Set up a nice bar or something in here.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31- It would be quite nice. - CANDICE LAUGHS

0:16:31 > 0:16:32Yes, Sean.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34This has a lot of potential in here.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37Yeah. It doesn't feel like a garage, that's for sure.

0:16:37 > 0:16:39Can we go out and play in the garden?

0:16:39 > 0:16:41Yes, I think so.

0:16:42 > 0:16:43It's locked.

0:16:43 > 0:16:45THEY LAUGH

0:16:45 > 0:16:49When they finally make it outdoors, they're impressed.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54This is a really good space.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57I could turn this area into a nice play area for the kids.

0:16:57 > 0:16:59Down below, the neighbours are getting a little

0:16:59 > 0:17:00too close for comfort.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05Give him a kiss!

0:17:06 > 0:17:09- NATHAN:- Oh, he's eating the flowers!

0:17:09 > 0:17:12I don't know how those bushes have survived.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14He's enjoying them.

0:17:14 > 0:17:17Candice seems very taken with this house.

0:17:17 > 0:17:19This is amazing. I love this garden.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22- Everything is perfect. - Lovely view.- Yeah.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25- It's really good.- Just need a bit of spare money on top

0:17:25 > 0:17:28to decorate it, basically.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30Hopefully it reflects in the price.

0:17:31 > 0:17:32Time to find out.

0:17:32 > 0:17:36The family budget is £335,000.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40I really adore this house.

0:17:40 > 0:17:43It's got a lot of potential for us to grow as a family

0:17:43 > 0:17:46and not have to move again. Do you like this house?

0:17:46 > 0:17:48- A lot.- A lot.

0:17:48 > 0:17:50So, how much do they think it's worth?

0:17:50 > 0:17:53I think about...

0:17:53 > 0:17:54300,000.

0:17:54 > 0:17:58I was going to say between 300,000 and 350,000.

0:17:59 > 0:18:01OK, shall we have a look, everybody?

0:18:04 > 0:18:05Let's see...

0:18:07 > 0:18:09£284,000.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12£51,000 under budget.

0:18:12 > 0:18:14- That's a good price.- Yeah, I think it is.

0:18:14 > 0:18:18For the area, for the views, for the size of the house.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20This is more worth our money than the first house.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22- Oh, yeah.- And on our top budget,

0:18:22 > 0:18:27- we would have spare money to put it to our liking.- We would.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30I think we would have enough to do it quite nicely.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33This would edge me slightly closer to New Zealand.

0:18:33 > 0:18:35- Would it?- It would.

0:18:35 > 0:18:37That's just what Candice needed to hear,

0:18:37 > 0:18:39and there's still one property to go.

0:18:39 > 0:18:43We found what we think could be the Crawford's dream home.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46It's in the suburb of Otumoetai,

0:18:46 > 0:18:48close to the city but with plenty of opportunities

0:18:48 > 0:18:50to enjoy outdoor living.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53The area could be just what the family are looking for.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58This four-bedroom brick and cedar home impresses straight away.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03- Oh, wow, that's very pretty.- Mmm.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06- This is nice.- This is amazing.

0:19:08 > 0:19:10Oh, this is massive.

0:19:10 > 0:19:11Wow.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13Oh, wow.

0:19:13 > 0:19:17The perfectly positioned property has a breathtaking outlook,

0:19:17 > 0:19:20which even Sean can't fail to notice.

0:19:21 > 0:19:24- Lovely view.- That is pretty, hey?

0:19:24 > 0:19:27A small balcony off the main living room makes the most of the views.

0:19:30 > 0:19:33The kitchen's got a pleasing feature for Candice.

0:19:33 > 0:19:34That island is very nice.

0:19:34 > 0:19:37- You've always wanted an island, haven't you?- Yeah.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39Loads of space for everything, isn't there?

0:19:39 > 0:19:41- Yeah.- Very, very nice.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43Look at all the drawer space, Shannon.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46You can have some fun with that.

0:19:46 > 0:19:47Really, Mum?

0:19:47 > 0:19:50- It's peaceful.- When you're washing the dishes

0:19:50 > 0:19:52you can have a lovely view and everything.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54- When- you're- washing the dishes! - That will be quite nice.

0:19:54 > 0:19:55THEY LAUGH

0:19:55 > 0:19:59Wow, that is a beautiful bedroom.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02The master bedroom ticks another box for Candice.

0:20:02 > 0:20:06- NATHAN:- Big cupboard space. - Walk-in cupboard.- Yeah.

0:20:06 > 0:20:09- SHANNON:- Bathroom!- Oh, it's an en suite.

0:20:09 > 0:20:11- NATHAN:- Wow, that's a massive shower.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14That's really lovely. There's not a thing that you would change.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17I like that a lot.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Candice can definitely picture herself living here.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22I could wake up here every morning.

0:20:22 > 0:20:24Yeah, definitely.

0:20:24 > 0:20:25Very nice.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28Making their way back downstairs, though...

0:20:28 > 0:20:31I'm really not a fan of the red glass.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34- Yeah, it is a bit weird. - NATHAN:- I love it.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37The house has plenty of space for overseas guests.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39- Oh, wow.- Wow, this is a huge room.

0:20:40 > 0:20:44- But...- I don't like the colour.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46I don't like this room.

0:20:46 > 0:20:49I'm not comfortable in this room for some reason.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51- There's a sink, here.- Yeah.

0:20:51 > 0:20:53It's very odd.

0:20:55 > 0:20:57Oh.

0:20:57 > 0:20:59- Weird.- Oh, that's very odd.

0:20:59 > 0:21:00Look at the shower!

0:21:00 > 0:21:03Very strange, steel in the shower.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06I'm not even sure I'd have guests down here, in all honesty.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Don't like it.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10Things have taken a turn for the worse.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13Outside, though, the scenery looks familiar.

0:21:13 > 0:21:15This is identical to Durban.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17It is, it looks exactly the same,

0:21:17 > 0:21:19how it goes into the valleys and everything.

0:21:19 > 0:21:21It may feel like home outdoors, but back indoors,

0:21:21 > 0:21:25the couple can't see this house as a forever home.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28What do you think?

0:21:28 > 0:21:31I like the living room and the kitchen.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33Then I think...

0:21:33 > 0:21:36that would be the only part that would suit us as a family.

0:21:36 > 0:21:38To make such a big move,

0:21:38 > 0:21:40it would need to have a proper wow factor,

0:21:40 > 0:21:42and I don't think this does it.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45Yeah. Unfortunately not for us.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49In spite of some pleasing features, it's a thumbs down for this one.

0:21:49 > 0:21:51But is it somewhere they can afford

0:21:51 > 0:21:55on their £335,000 budget?

0:21:55 > 0:21:57OK.

0:21:57 > 0:22:00I think that this might be along the lines of maybe

0:22:00 > 0:22:03£425,000.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05I think we're looking closer to half a million.

0:22:05 > 0:22:08I think it's going to be very expensive.

0:22:11 > 0:22:12OK, Shannon, let's turn it over.

0:22:16 > 0:22:20£355,000.

0:22:20 > 0:22:23It's £25,000 over budget, but...

0:22:23 > 0:22:26That's a lot cheaper than I thought it was going to be.

0:22:26 > 0:22:30Yeah, it makes me feel really good for knowing that

0:22:30 > 0:22:32we could actually achieve something absolutely amazing

0:22:32 > 0:22:34with views like this.

0:22:34 > 0:22:37- It's the top end of our budget but it's achievable.- Yeah.

0:22:37 > 0:22:38If we both get decent jobs here,

0:22:38 > 0:22:41then this size of property is possible.

0:22:41 > 0:22:44It's been a mixed bag on the property front.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47House number one's layout wasn't to Sean's taste,

0:22:47 > 0:22:51and, although within budget, neither was the price.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54Candice adored the second property, and with money left over,

0:22:54 > 0:22:56she felt she could make it her own.

0:22:56 > 0:22:58Finally, although property three fell short

0:22:58 > 0:23:00of being the family's dream home,

0:23:00 > 0:23:02it gave the couple a taste

0:23:02 > 0:23:04of what they might achieve in the future.

0:23:04 > 0:23:08So, based on everything they've seen today, when it comes to properties,

0:23:08 > 0:23:11will the Crawfords choose home or away?

0:23:11 > 0:23:14After viewing all of the properties today, our vote goes to...

0:23:26 > 0:23:28- New Zealand!- New Zealand!

0:23:28 > 0:23:30I don't know!

0:23:31 > 0:23:33Oh, both undecided.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36One of the properties I did like a lot,

0:23:36 > 0:23:38but two of them I didn't really.

0:23:38 > 0:23:40And you, Nathan?

0:23:40 > 0:23:42You don't know.

0:23:42 > 0:23:45I had no idea until I started spinning.

0:23:45 > 0:23:47That was a last-minute decision.

0:23:47 > 0:23:50Pretty good that you've already voted one for New Zealand.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53We'll see what the rest of the week brings.

0:23:53 > 0:23:55Yeah, definitely.

0:23:55 > 0:23:56Tomorrow's a big day.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05Sean's vote for New Zealand

0:24:05 > 0:24:08means Candice's campaign is off to a confident start.

0:24:08 > 0:24:11But they'll both need to get the right jobs down under

0:24:11 > 0:24:15for Sean to be convinced a move's worth the risk.

0:24:15 > 0:24:18Back in the UK, he's a technical sales engineer.

0:24:18 > 0:24:20It's a challenge, my work.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22We're going to companies to solve problems.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25His job sees him hit the road early.

0:24:25 > 0:24:30Around about seven in the morning, getting home between four and five.

0:24:30 > 0:24:32But the working day doesn't end there.

0:24:32 > 0:24:36Paperwork can often see him burn the midnight oil.

0:24:36 > 0:24:38I do really enjoy what I do.

0:24:38 > 0:24:40The downside is obviously coming home

0:24:40 > 0:24:43and missing my time with my family.

0:24:44 > 0:24:46That's where it's taking its toll.

0:24:46 > 0:24:50In South Africa, Candice worked in office management.

0:24:50 > 0:24:54Since returning to the UK, she struggled to find a suitable role.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57And being a stay-at-home mum just isn't enough.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00Going from managing, I would say...

0:25:01 > 0:25:04..at least 15 people's different schedules...

0:25:04 > 0:25:07You're managing just a household,

0:25:07 > 0:25:10it kind of makes you feel depleted.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13She's already done some online research into office management

0:25:13 > 0:25:14in New Zealand.

0:25:14 > 0:25:16I definitely think that there's potential

0:25:16 > 0:25:19to find quite a nice job, that side.

0:25:19 > 0:25:21Sean's not feeling quite so confident.

0:25:21 > 0:25:26It would have to be a complete, you know, change of job.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29And I'm a bit worried that I would go to a job that I don't like.

0:25:30 > 0:25:33To find out about potential roles down under,

0:25:33 > 0:25:36we've arranged for Sean to visit a local manufacturer,

0:25:36 > 0:25:38where he's met by chief executive Greg Jarvis.

0:25:40 > 0:25:42- Hi Sean, I'm Greg. Welcome to Bluelab.- Nice to meet you.

0:25:42 > 0:25:44Let's go and have a chat.

0:25:44 > 0:25:47The company designs and exports a range of controlled devices

0:25:47 > 0:25:49to horticultural markets around the world,

0:25:49 > 0:25:52so should fit in with Sean's technical background.

0:25:52 > 0:25:54I guess the key thing for me would be

0:25:54 > 0:25:58your ability to learn a certain amount of technical information,

0:25:58 > 0:26:00so that you could actually repackage that

0:26:00 > 0:26:03and represent that to the customer, so...

0:26:03 > 0:26:05Obviously I've done that before, learned products,

0:26:05 > 0:26:08and been very successful in selling them.

0:26:08 > 0:26:12It sounds right up Sean's street. What about the work/life balance?

0:26:12 > 0:26:14I currently do quite a bit of travelling in the UK,

0:26:14 > 0:26:15would it be the same in this role?

0:26:15 > 0:26:18About 98% of what we do, we export,

0:26:18 > 0:26:23- maybe one to two weeks away every six to eight weeks.- Oh, OK.

0:26:23 > 0:26:24And the rest of the time

0:26:24 > 0:26:27probably based in the office here in Tauranga.

0:26:27 > 0:26:28Oh, OK.

0:26:28 > 0:26:30That's quite a bit away from home,

0:26:30 > 0:26:33but would the financial reward be worth it?

0:26:33 > 0:26:35What sort of salary can I expect in this position?

0:26:35 > 0:26:39I would be looking anywhere between 60 to 90.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42Someone more like yourself, who's had a lot more experience,

0:26:42 > 0:26:46and has done that job, obviously towards the higher end of that.

0:26:46 > 0:26:47Oh, OK.

0:26:48 > 0:26:5290,000 New Zealand dollars equates to £42,000,

0:26:52 > 0:26:55almost double what Sean currently earns in the UK.

0:26:55 > 0:26:57Meanwhile, across town,

0:26:57 > 0:26:59Candice is finding out about possible work opportunities

0:26:59 > 0:27:01at a fruit marketing company,

0:27:01 > 0:27:04where she's introduced to fellow office manager Fleur.

0:27:04 > 0:27:08She's keen to find out what the day-to-day job entails.

0:27:08 > 0:27:09It's a little bit of everything.

0:27:09 > 0:27:12So, I can come in and have back-to-back meetings all day.

0:27:12 > 0:27:15I can have no meetings but never sit at my desk.

0:27:15 > 0:27:17- Mh-hm.- Little problems that people need somebody to solve.

0:27:17 > 0:27:19Well, I was working in the mining industry,

0:27:19 > 0:27:21so it sounds different,

0:27:21 > 0:27:24but at the same time, it's thinking on your feet.

0:27:24 > 0:27:27It sounds like your skills probably would be transferrable over here.

0:27:27 > 0:27:30Encouraged, Candice wants to know the best way to go about

0:27:30 > 0:27:32getting a job like Fleur's.

0:27:32 > 0:27:35Working with a recruitment agent, if you really get a good one,

0:27:35 > 0:27:38they'll really support you and find you that right job.

0:27:38 > 0:27:39That's reassuring.

0:27:39 > 0:27:43And the chances of Sean finding work look good too.

0:27:43 > 0:27:46We're actually filling quite a few different positions,

0:27:46 > 0:27:50from production to technical to sales.

0:27:50 > 0:27:52Excellent.

0:27:52 > 0:27:54Expat Jonno's got more good news for Sean.

0:27:57 > 0:27:59What would a typical working week be like here?

0:27:59 > 0:28:04I'm normally in for half past eight, and then I'm out by six.

0:28:04 > 0:28:07Having a finishing time will give Sean the extra family time

0:28:07 > 0:28:09he's missing out on in the UK.

0:28:09 > 0:28:12Communications officer Sophie Headley

0:28:12 > 0:28:15gives Candice the low down on what she should expect

0:28:15 > 0:28:16from working down under.

0:28:16 > 0:28:18It's really good, in my opinion.

0:28:18 > 0:28:20You know, I've moved here from the UK.

0:28:20 > 0:28:24We work from about 8.30 till 5 o'clock.

0:28:24 > 0:28:27- Monday to Friday.- OK.- We have flexible working hours as well.

0:28:27 > 0:28:29So, it's fantastic.

0:28:29 > 0:28:31There's a really, really good work/life balance.

0:28:31 > 0:28:34Flexible working hours could come in handy

0:28:34 > 0:28:38if Sean's job means time away from home. And money?

0:28:38 > 0:28:40What kind of salary can I be expecting?

0:28:40 > 0:28:44I think someone with your experience is probably looking at a range

0:28:44 > 0:28:47between 60,000 and 75,000 per annum.

0:28:47 > 0:28:49That's fantastic.

0:28:49 > 0:28:52That's approximately £35,000 a year.

0:28:52 > 0:28:55That's double what I was earning in South Africa.

0:28:57 > 0:29:01It's been a positive day on the work front for both Sean and Candice.

0:29:01 > 0:29:04Potentially able to double their income down under

0:29:04 > 0:29:08means Sean's financial concerns should be shelved.

0:29:08 > 0:29:11Two salaries combined, I think we could have a fantastic life.

0:29:11 > 0:29:17From my end, it would be stupid not to make the move, really.

0:29:17 > 0:29:20In spite of the positives, Sean's dragging his heels.

0:29:20 > 0:29:22I do love what I'm doing now.

0:29:22 > 0:29:25I don't think it's a product that excites me.

0:29:25 > 0:29:28You know, that would desperately

0:29:28 > 0:29:30make me, you know, want to come over.

0:29:30 > 0:29:32So, when it comes to voting,

0:29:32 > 0:29:35will he choose New Zealand or the UK?

0:29:35 > 0:29:36Our vote goes to...

0:29:45 > 0:29:47- New Zealand.- New Zealand.

0:29:48 > 0:29:50I thought you would vote for New Zealand.

0:29:50 > 0:29:52Yeah. I wasn't sure about you, though.

0:29:52 > 0:29:56I was nearly undecided just because, you know, I love my job so much.

0:29:56 > 0:30:00But I think the salary, if that's what I can expect,

0:30:00 > 0:30:02I think it's edging closer to New Zealand.

0:30:02 > 0:30:05OK. That's good to know.

0:30:05 > 0:30:06That's two out of four.

0:30:06 > 0:30:09- We're 50% of the way.- Yeah.

0:30:13 > 0:30:16Sean's second vote for New Zealand suggests Candice

0:30:16 > 0:30:21is in with a good chance of convincing him to make the move.

0:30:21 > 0:30:24Having seen her children flourish in the South African sunshine,

0:30:24 > 0:30:29she's yearning to rekindle that outdoor lifestyle in New Zealand.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32So, will a day spent enjoying the Kiwi climate

0:30:32 > 0:30:35take her a step closer to fulfilling the dream?

0:30:38 > 0:30:41Keen to be more active than they currently are in the UK,

0:30:41 > 0:30:44the family's day begins with a spot of kayaking.

0:30:44 > 0:30:46THEY LAUGH

0:30:46 > 0:30:48Oops. You get on.

0:30:48 > 0:30:51Back on dry land, the family are mesmerised

0:30:51 > 0:30:53by some Kiwi marine life.

0:30:53 > 0:30:56Just lying in the sun.

0:30:56 > 0:30:58The day's going down well with everyone.

0:30:58 > 0:31:01I really, really like New Zealand.

0:31:01 > 0:31:05Yeah, I would miss England, but I would be having fun here.

0:31:05 > 0:31:08- NATHAN:- I think I might have a happy life here.

0:31:08 > 0:31:12It's a reminder of the kind of lifestyle they once knew.

0:31:12 > 0:31:14This is on a whole different level.

0:31:14 > 0:31:17I don't even think that they expected this from life again.

0:31:17 > 0:31:19It's been fantastic.

0:31:19 > 0:31:22This feels more like being back in South Africa, to be honest.

0:31:22 > 0:31:25But I'd say, I've enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28It's re-enforced Candice's vision

0:31:28 > 0:31:30of how life could be transformed down under.

0:31:30 > 0:31:33My mood has completely changed.

0:31:33 > 0:31:35It's just the sun, the sea, the people,

0:31:35 > 0:31:38everyone's so friendly and so welcoming.

0:31:38 > 0:31:40You don't feel like you've left home...

0:31:40 > 0:31:43You feel like you've come home.

0:31:43 > 0:31:47And it looks like the sunshine could be working in her favour.

0:31:47 > 0:31:51I wasn't overly keen to come to New Zealand, it wasn't my dream.

0:31:51 > 0:31:55But from what I've seen so far, you know, all over,

0:31:55 > 0:31:57it seems like such a beautiful place to be.

0:31:57 > 0:32:00But time out with the family has also given Sean

0:32:00 > 0:32:02a chance to reflect on the bigger picture.

0:32:02 > 0:32:04Obviously, the finances tomorrow

0:32:04 > 0:32:07would be, you know, the key to the decision.

0:32:07 > 0:32:09I don't know if he's there 100% yet.

0:32:09 > 0:32:11I think there's still a bit of convincing.

0:32:11 > 0:32:14You know, if finances don't sort of tie up,

0:32:14 > 0:32:17and Candice is desperate to come here, it could cause a few problems.

0:32:18 > 0:32:22Based on today, though, which country will the family choose?

0:32:25 > 0:32:28After seeing the lifestyle that we can have in New Zealand,

0:32:28 > 0:32:30our vote goes to...

0:32:43 > 0:32:44- ALL:- New Zealand!

0:32:45 > 0:32:47- You voted New Zealand, Nathan?- Ooh.

0:32:47 > 0:32:49Did you have a fun day, yeah?

0:32:49 > 0:32:51It's a full house.

0:32:51 > 0:32:53This was the easiest decision of the week for me.

0:32:53 > 0:32:55Yes. It was very easy, wasn't it?

0:32:55 > 0:32:57We can do this every single weekend.

0:32:57 > 0:32:58I knew it was going to be a good day,

0:32:58 > 0:33:02- but it was actually better than I thought.- I know!

0:33:02 > 0:33:04SHE LAUGHS

0:33:07 > 0:33:10So far, their time in New Zealand has assured Candice

0:33:10 > 0:33:13the country could give her the family lifestyle she's longed for

0:33:13 > 0:33:15since leaving sunny South Africa.

0:33:15 > 0:33:18But for her dream to become a reality,

0:33:18 > 0:33:19the books will have to balance,

0:33:19 > 0:33:22and Sean's not feeling optimistic.

0:33:22 > 0:33:25I'm expecting it to come up quite expensive.

0:33:26 > 0:33:28Hoping for it not to, but...

0:33:28 > 0:33:32We've provided a comparison of costs in the UK and New Zealand,

0:33:32 > 0:33:34starting with the supermarket shop.

0:33:36 > 0:33:38So, we have...

0:33:39 > 0:33:43..beef, UK, 4.69.

0:33:43 > 0:33:44Here it's 4.60.

0:33:46 > 0:33:48- So, cheaper. - So, that's roughly the same.

0:33:48 > 0:33:52No, 9p. New Zealand wins.

0:33:52 > 0:33:54Every penny counts, Candice.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57Milk, for a four-pinter...

0:33:57 > 0:34:00it is £2 in the UK.

0:34:00 > 0:34:03Wow! £5.52 here.

0:34:03 > 0:34:04Are you calculating?

0:34:06 > 0:34:09After I've picked myself up off the floor!

0:34:09 > 0:34:10It all adds up, doesn't it?

0:34:13 > 0:34:1662.68...

0:34:16 > 0:34:17Worse off...

0:34:18 > 0:34:20..a month.

0:34:20 > 0:34:23That's not as bad as I thought it would be.

0:34:23 > 0:34:26Just over £60 a month more on food may not break the bank,

0:34:26 > 0:34:29but there's also the bigger bills to consider.

0:34:29 > 0:34:31Currently renting in the UK,

0:34:31 > 0:34:35the couple would buy a property down under if they make the move.

0:34:35 > 0:34:36Oh, I'm dreading this.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39Basing their figures on the second house they saw,

0:34:39 > 0:34:43their monthly payments would almost double in New Zealand.

0:34:43 > 0:34:46So that's £686 different.

0:34:46 > 0:34:48- There's a big difference, straight away.- Yeah.

0:34:48 > 0:34:52Added to the rest of the bills, it's not good news.

0:34:52 > 0:34:56- How much?- £700, we'd be worse off here.

0:34:57 > 0:34:58I knew it was going to be more expensive,

0:34:58 > 0:35:01- but I didn't think it would be that much more.- Yeah.

0:35:01 > 0:35:02That is very expensive.

0:35:02 > 0:35:07Overall, the couple would be worse off by almost £8,500 a year

0:35:07 > 0:35:08in New Zealand.

0:35:08 > 0:35:12But, Sean could almost double his salary down under.

0:35:12 > 0:35:16So that's £895...

0:35:16 > 0:35:19- Better off.- Better off on just on my salary.

0:35:19 > 0:35:21That's a huge difference.

0:35:21 > 0:35:24And with Candice planning to work in New Zealand,

0:35:24 > 0:35:27their combined incomes could save the day.

0:35:27 > 0:35:30- We'd be better off £1,226.- Yes.

0:35:30 > 0:35:32How much would that be yearly?

0:35:35 > 0:35:38£14,712.

0:35:38 > 0:35:40- Per year.- Better off per year?

0:35:40 > 0:35:44- Yeah.- And that's minus any commissions or bonuses?

0:35:44 > 0:35:46Yeah.

0:35:46 > 0:35:47Wow, I'm very happy.

0:35:47 > 0:35:49THEY LAUGH

0:35:49 > 0:35:51That's amazing.

0:35:51 > 0:35:53Look how much worse off we are in the UK,

0:35:53 > 0:35:56for being miserable 90% of the time!

0:35:57 > 0:36:00It's not even a comparison for me.

0:36:00 > 0:36:03You can't fight over anything any more!

0:36:03 > 0:36:05Mmm, OK. I'll give you this one.

0:36:05 > 0:36:08THEY LAUGH

0:36:08 > 0:36:11It looks like it could be three out of four, Candice.

0:36:11 > 0:36:14After looking at the finances, our vote goes to...

0:36:20 > 0:36:22New Zealand!

0:36:23 > 0:36:24That was a definite for you.

0:36:24 > 0:36:27Yeah, well, we wouldn't even be breaking even,

0:36:27 > 0:36:29we'd be doing so much better.

0:36:29 > 0:36:32This was the most important, cos if the finances didn't work out,

0:36:32 > 0:36:34it was a definite "no" from my side.

0:36:34 > 0:36:38- Yeah.- But seeing the finances are in our favour, then, yeah.

0:36:38 > 0:36:40Well, I'm glad. If that was the most important one,

0:36:40 > 0:36:42then it's definitely headed in the right direction.

0:36:42 > 0:36:44- Definitely.- Yeah.

0:36:48 > 0:36:51Knowing they would be quids in New Zealand

0:36:51 > 0:36:54means Candice's dream of a forever home down under

0:36:54 > 0:36:56could be within touching distance,

0:36:56 > 0:36:59but there's still the emotional cost to confront.

0:36:59 > 0:37:02The family sit down to watch a DVD of messages from home together.

0:37:09 > 0:37:13- Hi, kids.- Hi, guys.- Hi, guys.- Hi, Sean, Candice, Shannon and Nathan.

0:37:13 > 0:37:16- BOTH:- Hi.- Hope you're having a great time.

0:37:16 > 0:37:18We're missing you lots, and we can't wait for you to come back

0:37:18 > 0:37:19and tell us all about it.

0:37:19 > 0:37:21Sean is like a son I've never had.

0:37:21 > 0:37:25I've got two girls of my own but Sean's just...

0:37:25 > 0:37:27Sean!

0:37:27 > 0:37:28You know, he means a lot.

0:37:28 > 0:37:33I've been part of Sean's life, really, from the moment he was born.

0:37:33 > 0:37:36And I just love him. I absolutely love him.

0:37:36 > 0:37:39We're like brothers, rather than father and son.

0:37:39 > 0:37:40- You know what I mean? - That's true!

0:37:40 > 0:37:43We used to play football together, go for a pint together.

0:37:43 > 0:37:45Sean is definitely the laid back one.

0:37:45 > 0:37:48I think he likes things organised for him.

0:37:48 > 0:37:51Candice is definitely the one who puts everything in place.

0:37:52 > 0:37:55But in a nice way, though. It works.

0:37:55 > 0:37:58She's just wonderful and made Sean

0:37:58 > 0:37:59really, really happy,

0:37:59 > 0:38:01and the children are just wonderful.

0:38:01 > 0:38:05I love the children. Well, Shannon is a real girlie girl.

0:38:05 > 0:38:08She likes to get her hair done and her nails done

0:38:08 > 0:38:10and she's really, really good fun.

0:38:10 > 0:38:13Shannon, oh, she's a proper little madam.

0:38:13 > 0:38:16THEY LAUGH

0:38:16 > 0:38:17They got you down.

0:38:17 > 0:38:20And then there's Nathan, and he's just wonderful.

0:38:20 > 0:38:22He used to be shy but he's come out of his shell.

0:38:22 > 0:38:23He's a bit like his dad.

0:38:23 > 0:38:25THEY LAUGH

0:38:26 > 0:38:28I hadn't seen them in a few years

0:38:28 > 0:38:31and they came back and it was like we'd never been apart.

0:38:31 > 0:38:33It's one of them friendships that you'll never lose.

0:38:35 > 0:38:38- Oh, my goodness. Not again! - It's just a big shock.

0:38:38 > 0:38:41Just this last year, I mean we've actually bonded as a family

0:38:41 > 0:38:43- since they've been back.- Yes.

0:38:43 > 0:38:46- Just sort of getting to know them.- Yeah.

0:38:46 > 0:38:48Getting used to being around them,

0:38:48 > 0:38:52- and all of a sudden them not being there...- Yeah.

0:38:52 > 0:38:55It would just be, you know, awful.

0:38:57 > 0:38:59And you have to put your own feelings to one side,

0:38:59 > 0:39:02and it's what they think is best for the children.

0:39:02 > 0:39:06I want them to go and experience it and see if they like it,

0:39:06 > 0:39:10but I'd rather they stayed.

0:39:10 > 0:39:13Life is short and you have to enjoy it...

0:39:14 > 0:39:17..but I just wish they would enjoy it here.

0:39:17 > 0:39:19I hope that you decide to stay!

0:39:19 > 0:39:21- I'm sorry! - SHE LAUGHS

0:39:21 > 0:39:23I'm missing you so much,

0:39:23 > 0:39:26but I'm hoping that you'll make the right decision,

0:39:26 > 0:39:29and do what's best for the four of you.

0:39:29 > 0:39:30I know it's your decision.

0:39:30 > 0:39:33Whatever you think's best

0:39:33 > 0:39:35for the kids and for yous.

0:39:35 > 0:39:38We know you'll make the right decision.

0:39:38 > 0:39:39We'll miss you.

0:39:41 > 0:39:43I knew they wouldn't be happy.

0:39:43 > 0:39:47Because, obviously, they just got us back after a long, long stint away.

0:39:48 > 0:39:50Yeah, I do understand that,

0:39:50 > 0:39:53cos we have been building a strong relationship since we've been back,

0:39:53 > 0:39:55so I do feel quite bad.

0:40:01 > 0:40:04Hearing from home has been a reminder

0:40:04 > 0:40:06of the emotional cost of moving,

0:40:06 > 0:40:10and for Candice a chance to reflect on her desire to take Sean

0:40:10 > 0:40:15and the children away from loved ones in the UK for a second time.

0:40:15 > 0:40:19New Zealand may have exceeded everyone's expectations

0:40:19 > 0:40:21but when it comes to committing to moving

0:40:21 > 0:40:23to the other side of the world,

0:40:23 > 0:40:26there's still time for second thoughts.

0:40:26 > 0:40:29The trial week has shown Candice potential

0:40:29 > 0:40:32for the future she's dreamt of down under.

0:40:32 > 0:40:36I spent my whole childhood outdoors and my whole lifestyle outdoors.

0:40:36 > 0:40:41So for me, this is what life is supposed to be like. It's perfect.

0:40:41 > 0:40:42It's opened Sean's eyes

0:40:42 > 0:40:45to the benefits of what the country could offer, too.

0:40:45 > 0:40:48It's been absolutely fantastic. Everybody's nice and friendly.

0:40:48 > 0:40:52From what we've seen, you know, only positives have come out of it.

0:40:52 > 0:40:54But as the final decision approaches,

0:40:54 > 0:40:57Candice is conflicted at choosing between her dream

0:40:57 > 0:40:59and loved ones back home.

0:40:59 > 0:41:02I'm starting to feel a little bit guilty about

0:41:02 > 0:41:06taking Sean and the kids away from Granny and Grandad and everyone.

0:41:06 > 0:41:10I think we need to actually be a little more respectful of that.

0:41:10 > 0:41:13Sean's also had pause for thought.

0:42:12 > 0:42:14They can come over at least once a year,

0:42:14 > 0:42:16so it's not cutting all ties.

0:42:16 > 0:42:19I think it's the right decision for us, so...

0:42:22 > 0:42:25- it's... Well, everybody's happy. - Yeah.

0:42:25 > 0:42:27It feels amazing.

0:42:27 > 0:42:30It feels like the next big adventure for the Crawfords, really.

0:42:42 > 0:42:45In spite of some last-minute nerves,

0:42:45 > 0:42:48Candice has stayed true to her dream.

0:42:48 > 0:42:52And Sean agrees - their family's future does lie in New Zealand.

0:42:52 > 0:42:55Hopefully, it won't be too long before the Crawfords

0:42:55 > 0:42:59are back living the happier, healthier outdoors lifestyle

0:42:59 > 0:43:01Candice has been holding out for.
