0:00:02 > 0:00:04East Ender Edna Siwak has fallen out of love with London...

0:00:04 > 0:00:07In our area, there's a lot of crime,

0:00:07 > 0:00:09you feel after a certain time

0:00:09 > 0:00:12you can't go out without feeling a bit unsafe.

0:00:12 > 0:00:16..and dreams there's a better life on the other side of the world.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20Australia provides something that I feel like I'm not getting here.

0:00:20 > 0:00:24But for husband Daniel the thought of leaving loved ones keeps him up at

0:00:24 > 0:00:28- night.- Leaving my family behind and not being there for them is hard to

0:00:28 > 0:00:31think about, it really is, I can't even put it into words.

0:00:31 > 0:00:35A trial week in Melbourne gives the family a taste of what life could be

0:00:35 > 0:00:37- like.- Go, baby, go!

0:00:37 > 0:00:40But, will it be enough to convince Daniel?

0:00:40 > 0:00:41You did it!

0:00:41 > 0:00:46The idea of going, then not having it or not being able to achieve it

0:00:46 > 0:00:49or convince Daniel, then I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

0:01:11 > 0:01:16With around a quarter of its 23 million population born overseas,

0:01:16 > 0:01:21Australia's the top destination for those seeking a new life abroad.

0:01:21 > 0:01:27Promising sun, sea, and a laid-back lifestyle, it's easy to see why.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30But life on the other side of the world doesn't work out for everyone.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34And of the 34,000 Brits who flock there every year,

0:01:34 > 0:01:37almost half end up returning to the UK.

0:01:38 > 0:01:39Childhood sweethearts,

0:01:39 > 0:01:44Edna and Daniel met when they were just 12 years of age.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46They married in 2013,

0:01:46 > 0:01:50had a child of their own and lived exactly where they grew up,

0:01:50 > 0:01:52in London's East End.

0:01:52 > 0:01:53But now as a mum,

0:01:53 > 0:01:57Edna is looking at her surroundings through different eyes and doesn't

0:01:57 > 0:01:59like what she sees.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01High-rise living and rising crime rates,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Edna thinks East London isn't the same.

0:02:04 > 0:02:09She wants better and believes Australia is the answer.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11But after losing his mum,

0:02:11 > 0:02:15Daniel is incredibly close to his sisters and doesn't want to go.

0:02:15 > 0:02:20It's going to be a struggle to convince him the other end of the

0:02:20 > 0:02:22earth is where their future lies.

0:02:23 > 0:02:28The family's trial week begins its journey from London via Abu Dhabi

0:02:28 > 0:02:30and Sydney before landing at Melbourne.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36When they finally touched down on Melbourne's Tullamarine airport,

0:02:36 > 0:02:41it's evident the family have endured every air mile of their 22 hour

0:02:41 > 0:02:45- journey.- The journey here was very long,

0:02:45 > 0:02:49and it's definitely challenging to come with an infant this far away

0:02:49 > 0:02:54- from home.- I didn't get enough sleep so I'm already setting the mood of,

0:02:54 > 0:02:57what am I really doing here but I'm here.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00Even Edna has been rocked by the distance travelled.

0:03:00 > 0:03:03Is she beginning to have second thoughts?

0:03:03 > 0:03:08Once you're here, you forget how far it is, it's just in the moment,

0:03:08 > 0:03:12you question yourself, can you actually come this far away from home?

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Surprisingly, it's Daniel who seems keen to get going.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18During the whole flight I was a bit hesitant,

0:03:18 > 0:03:22I kept thinking am I doing the right thing coming here but, yeah, I'm

0:03:22 > 0:03:25definitely looking forward to the week and seeing what it has to offer.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29It's with mixed emotions the family collect their bags.

0:03:29 > 0:03:34They now have just seven days to decide whether Australia really is

0:03:34 > 0:03:35where their future lies.

0:03:39 > 0:03:46Meet the Siwaks, mum Edna, dad Daniel and little live wire Jotham.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49Edna was brought up in London while Daniel moved from Poland when he was

0:03:49 > 0:03:52- ten.- Bye-bye!

0:03:52 > 0:03:56We met in secondary school and we were really good friends.

0:03:56 > 0:04:00Give me kiss-kiss. I fell in love with Edna when I was 16,

0:04:00 > 0:04:03she was chasing me everywhere and I would be playing...

0:04:03 > 0:04:05OK, all right, we don't need to go that far.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10And we've been together since then.

0:04:10 > 0:04:14We just created a bond that we can never let go really so wherever she

0:04:14 > 0:04:16goes I go, probably.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19You can meet someone at 15 and they can be your soul mate.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22Edna is a real East Ender,

0:04:22 > 0:04:27but she feels that the London she loves has turned its back on her.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29I love London to death, like, I grew up here,

0:04:29 > 0:04:33I met everything that's beautiful in my life here but it's not the same

0:04:33 > 0:04:37London any more. In our area, there's a lot of crime,

0:04:37 > 0:04:39a lot of delinquency in the area.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41You feel, after a certain time, you

0:04:41 > 0:04:44can't go out without feeling a bit unsafe.

0:04:44 > 0:04:48Things have just gotten worse and it just makes us feel like is this how

0:04:48 > 0:04:50it's going to continue growing?

0:04:50 > 0:04:54Edna's convinced that a better life awaits them in Australia.

0:04:56 > 0:05:00I've always dreamt about going to Australia since I was 13 years old,

0:05:00 > 0:05:05the feeling of wanting to move there has become stronger.

0:05:05 > 0:05:09First of all, the crime rate is not as high as it is in the UK,

0:05:09 > 0:05:12you always hear that there is much safer neighbourhood for kids and the

0:05:12 > 0:05:17upbringing for the kids and Australia provides something that I feel like

0:05:17 > 0:05:23- I'm not getting here.- However, husband Daniel doesn't share her dream.

0:05:23 > 0:05:25When Edna first told me she wants to move to Australia,

0:05:25 > 0:05:28I actually laughed in her face, I was like, "Are you serious?"

0:05:28 > 0:05:30There was a straight no.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32But since becoming a dad to Jotham,

0:05:32 > 0:05:35Daniel's become more receptive to Edna's plans.

0:05:35 > 0:05:41Like having my son now come to the world is just,

0:05:41 > 0:05:45my thinking changed and all I can think of is providing a better life

0:05:45 > 0:05:46for him.

0:05:46 > 0:05:50And the two have certainly produced their own little pocket rocket.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55We definitely need more space like this,

0:05:55 > 0:05:59something where he can actually go and play cos he is such a runner.

0:05:59 > 0:06:03He needs to be able to explore his surroundings.

0:06:03 > 0:06:05- Yes.- And somewhere that's clean.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07There he goes.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16Bad news for Daniel's family, however, put their plans on hold.

0:06:16 > 0:06:21My mum sadly passed away from cancer and it was a really difficult time

0:06:21 > 0:06:25because it came as a shock to all of us, we only had

0:06:25 > 0:06:27three months before she passed away.

0:06:27 > 0:06:32So the only way we could deal with it is by supporting each other.

0:06:32 > 0:06:33All we had is one another.

0:06:34 > 0:06:41And just thinking of leaving my family behind and not being there

0:06:41 > 0:06:43for them is just hard to think about it really,

0:06:43 > 0:06:45I can't even put it into words.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47Edna knows that she's asking a lot.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52If we did make the move I feel like there would be resentment towards me

0:06:52 > 0:06:57for doing so but at the same time as a mother and as a parent,

0:06:57 > 0:07:00you just want to offer your child

0:07:00 > 0:07:05more than what you've had and better opportunities and currently,

0:07:05 > 0:07:09that's not available to Jotham now.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12So do you do what's best for him as a parent or do you just stick with

0:07:12 > 0:07:15the family to make sure they see him grow up?

0:07:18 > 0:07:20And she's not without some concerns of her own.

0:07:22 > 0:07:26Cos we're multicultural, we want to feel part of the community,

0:07:26 > 0:07:31we want to feel part of the society and London offers that but with

0:07:31 > 0:07:35Australia, my biggest fear is that Jotham will face prejudice,

0:07:35 > 0:07:38he'll feel isolated

0:07:38 > 0:07:43and he'll feel unwanted and no child should go through that,

0:07:43 > 0:07:47and that's not something he would experience here so why would I take

0:07:47 > 0:07:49him to the other side of the world for that?

0:07:49 > 0:07:51So with the trial week approaching,

0:07:51 > 0:07:55Daniel knows a lot rests on his decision.

0:07:55 > 0:07:59Edna and my family are the two things I've had in my life.

0:07:59 > 0:08:03We know that all we have is one another so we just want to be there

0:08:03 > 0:08:06for each other and just being away from that just...

0:08:09 > 0:08:11Big mess.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13Wow. Now what toy are we going to choose to play with?

0:08:14 > 0:08:18She has just seven days to persuade Daniel to move from what he knows

0:08:18 > 0:08:22and loves to a new life on the other side of the world.

0:08:22 > 0:08:28- Good boy.- The idea of going then not having it or not being able to

0:08:28 > 0:08:31achieve it or convince Daniel, then I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39The Siwaks are spending their trial week in Melbourne,

0:08:39 > 0:08:41in the south of the country.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44With a population of almost five million,

0:08:44 > 0:08:48it also gets over 2,000 hours of sunshine per year.

0:08:48 > 0:08:53With an average temperature of 21 degrees during its warm hot summers.

0:08:53 > 0:08:57Their base for the week is a 2-storey modern house in South Morang,

0:08:57 > 0:09:00a new suburb 14 miles northeast of Melbourne.

0:09:00 > 0:09:03- Oh, wow!- Yeah, it's so modern, I love it.

0:09:03 > 0:09:07I wanted it more to be an island, it's more like in the corner,

0:09:07 > 0:09:10so it's like we will still be like our kitchen at home,

0:09:10 > 0:09:13where you're just all kind of squeezing in the kitchen

0:09:13 > 0:09:14at the same time.

0:09:14 > 0:09:18Over the next week the family will be weighing up property costs,

0:09:18 > 0:09:23work prospects, lifestyle, and how far their money will go.

0:09:23 > 0:09:26And only at the end will Edna find out if husband Daniel is up

0:09:26 > 0:09:28for a move.

0:09:28 > 0:09:31But that doesn't stop her trying to suss him out early.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36I'm really praying that this week impresses you.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38And for once, the long distance from

0:09:38 > 0:09:41London plays right into Edna's plans.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45For me, the journey was a nightmare, I'm not even looking forward to

0:09:45 > 0:09:47doing a return flight so...

0:09:47 > 0:09:48OK.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51Might have to stay here for a little bit.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53Oh, so that means you're interested in staying?

0:09:53 > 0:09:55Don't get your hopes up, baby.

0:10:00 > 0:10:01Back in the UK,

0:10:01 > 0:10:05Daniel and Edna live in a high-rise apartment in East London.

0:10:05 > 0:10:10With its bijou living area, two small bedrooms, and tiny balcony,

0:10:10 > 0:10:13it is too small for their growing family.

0:10:13 > 0:10:14We don't want to

0:10:14 > 0:10:17let ourselves get attached to something that we know is not a

0:10:17 > 0:10:22forever home, so in our flat we only have three pictures on the wall.

0:10:22 > 0:10:26And Oz soap loving fan Edna knows exactly what she wants to see in

0:10:26 > 0:10:28property hunting down under.

0:10:28 > 0:10:33A three to four bedroom house, not flat.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36If we had a big spacious garden, that would be amazing,

0:10:36 > 0:10:39- I would love that. - That's all?- Yeah.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41And a kitchen where I can see my boys,

0:10:41 > 0:10:46a very spacious one so that we can spend time together in the mornings.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48That's the dream in Australia.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52With a monthly rental budget of £1,200,

0:10:52 > 0:10:55we'll show the family three properties in Melbourne,

0:10:55 > 0:10:59two on budget and a third which could be their dream home.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03Only after they've seen each one will they find out its value.

0:11:03 > 0:11:04For their first viewing,

0:11:04 > 0:11:08the Siwaks travel half an hour to one of the fastest-growing

0:11:08 > 0:11:09Melbourne suburbs, Mernda.

0:11:09 > 0:11:14It has the family-friendly feel Edna wants and a quiet lifestyle

0:11:14 > 0:11:16away from the buzz of the big city.

0:11:16 > 0:11:20Will this modern three-bedroom house persuade them Edna's dream is worth

0:11:20 > 0:11:23- considering?- Oh, I love this!

0:11:23 > 0:11:24First impressions are good.

0:11:24 > 0:11:26But, on closer inspection,

0:11:26 > 0:11:30it's clear it'll be a matter of convincing herself because

0:11:30 > 0:11:31Daniel's loving it.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33First impression is I'm in love.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35Edna's initial impression is not good.

0:11:35 > 0:11:39- OK.- And once through the front door, she remains underwhelmed.

0:11:39 > 0:11:41There is a bit too much going on for me.

0:11:41 > 0:11:43It's almost like a big closet with no door.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46There is no disguising her disappointment.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49And the carpet is a bit too brown

0:11:49 > 0:11:52- for that colour.- I like it, you don't want to be too bright.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Things don't get any better when they see the kitchen.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00- I already know what you're thinking. - What do you think I'm thinking?

0:12:00 > 0:12:01It's a bit small.

0:12:02 > 0:12:07I want open-plan living and it is open-plan living but I want to be

0:12:07 > 0:12:09open, not open.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14Will the bedrooms be any better?

0:12:14 > 0:12:18Edna brightens up on seeing, yes, a walk-in wardrobe.

0:12:18 > 0:12:21Oh! Definitely not something we have at home.

0:12:21 > 0:12:25- I know.- It's not something I've had and I've always wanted one.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28I'm quite surprised that this house actually has one,

0:12:28 > 0:12:30I just wish it was a teeny bit bigger.

0:12:30 > 0:12:34The point of moving was to get much more space and for Edna,

0:12:34 > 0:12:36that's what's lacking here.

0:12:36 > 0:12:40- So this is the en-suite. - Apparently.

0:12:40 > 0:12:41It's a bit small.

0:12:41 > 0:12:45I would really like my own sink, I'm tired of sharing with you.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48Although Jotham's staying with a child minder,

0:12:48 > 0:12:51he may have found his perfect room.

0:12:51 > 0:12:55- This is cute.- This is so cute!- I do imagine Jotham having this room.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- Yeah. It's probably the best room I like in the house.- Yeah.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01Back to bijou with the third bedroom.

0:13:01 > 0:13:06Bit tight, if someone was staying over it will do what it needs to do

0:13:06 > 0:13:08but if we have more kids...

0:13:09 > 0:13:13- Which we will.- Which we will, I don't know if it's big enough.

0:13:13 > 0:13:17Edna's complaints are falling on Daniel's deaf ears.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20I think it's big enough. I mean, I will sleep here.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23Finally, the outside.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26They desperately want space for Jotham to run around.

0:13:26 > 0:13:29Could this small house deliver a decent sized garden?

0:13:29 > 0:13:31Oh, this is better.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34This is exactly what I was asking for, spacious garden,

0:13:34 > 0:13:37Jo to run there and there, it's nice.

0:13:37 > 0:13:41Literally, I can imagine myself knocking down those posts and

0:13:41 > 0:13:44extending the grass and having a five-a-side football pitch.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46Five-a-side football pitch.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49So she may not like his plans but with a budget of £1,200,

0:13:49 > 0:13:51will she like the price?

0:13:53 > 0:13:55- So, what do you think?- I'm in love.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57- Really?- If I could, I'd move in right now.

0:13:57 > 0:14:01I think this house would be slightly over our budget so I'm guessing

0:14:01 > 0:14:03around between 1,300-1,400.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07The area that we're in is very nice, very up-and-coming.

0:14:07 > 0:14:09- Should we have a look?- Uh-huh.

0:14:15 > 0:14:16Wow.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21- I did not expect that. - I did not expect that.

0:14:21 > 0:14:24It almost makes me feel sad because I, like, I pay more a month in

0:14:24 > 0:14:26England and I get less.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29This just makes it more realistic, more believable, doesn't it?

0:14:29 > 0:14:33Yeah, it actually makes me feel like the dream is just not in my head,

0:14:33 > 0:14:35it actually exists, you can have more.

0:14:39 > 0:14:42Next, the couple is off to see property number two in the suburb of

0:14:42 > 0:14:45Doreen in the foothills of the Yarra Ranges, ten minutes away.

0:14:45 > 0:14:49Less built up, this is a more laid-back neighbourhood with plenty

0:14:49 > 0:14:52of shops and schools and Australian wildlife.

0:14:54 > 0:14:55Interesting area.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58This should be right up their street though by the look

0:14:58 > 0:15:00on Edna's face it doesn't look like it.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03And the road is quite busy, I don't like that.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05- Yeah.- For Jotham I don't think it's quite safe.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08But appearances can be deceiving.

0:15:09 > 0:15:10Oh, OK!

0:15:12 > 0:15:14More spacious than the first house.

0:15:14 > 0:15:16I actually like the kitchen.

0:15:16 > 0:15:19- I love the kitchen.- I like the fact that it's got a long island,

0:15:19 > 0:15:21and I can see you guys.

0:15:21 > 0:15:23However, Daniel's not sure.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26It does feel a bit darker, though.

0:15:26 > 0:15:28- Yeah.- The light doesn't come through.- It's modern,

0:15:28 > 0:15:30that's what we asked for but it

0:15:30 > 0:15:32doesn't really live up to my expectations.

0:15:33 > 0:15:36- I like the carpet.- You do?

0:15:36 > 0:15:41OK, Edna, carpets outside, what about the main bedroom?

0:15:41 > 0:15:43Don't like it, it's too loud.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46If I changed everything in this room then I could live in it.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48I love the space of it,

0:15:48 > 0:15:51it's definitely more spacious than the last property.

0:15:51 > 0:15:53I think even if you changed everything,

0:15:53 > 0:15:55I still wouldn't see myself living here.

0:15:55 > 0:15:56With such bad vibes,

0:15:56 > 0:15:59it probably doesn't matter what the bathrooms are like,

0:15:59 > 0:16:01but Edna is desperate to lift the mood.

0:16:01 > 0:16:03Oh! There's a mirror!

0:16:03 > 0:16:05You're scraping the barrel now.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08- Shower's a bit small but... - I think it's sufficient space.

0:16:08 > 0:16:12Got a bath, shower, and you can open the windows.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15Slim pickings so far in this house, outside

0:16:15 > 0:16:18there has to be something very special.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21Will the garden delight and surprise like the last one?

0:16:21 > 0:16:25Straight away, I can see the space is not big enough, too many hazards.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28Yeah, Jotham is two, like, where is he going to run around?

0:16:28 > 0:16:32- It's not really safe.- Yeah, I'll probably need grass instead of...

0:16:32 > 0:16:34Whatever this is.

0:16:34 > 0:16:38So, this second property they mightn't want it but if they can't

0:16:38 > 0:16:42even afford it, then Edna's dream will likely be over.

0:16:42 > 0:16:45How much do you think this property is a month?

0:16:45 > 0:16:48I think it would be around £1,300

0:16:48 > 0:16:50- per month.- You think it'll be over our budget?

0:16:50 > 0:16:52I think it will be a bit under our budget.

0:16:52 > 0:16:55About £1,100 per month, shall we have a look?

0:17:01 > 0:17:02- Ready?- Yep.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05OK. That's quite good.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08Knowing the fact that this house is quite affordable,

0:17:08 > 0:17:11it just makes me believe a little bit more with the fact that we can actually

0:17:11 > 0:17:13- make the move.- That's good.

0:17:13 > 0:17:16So, it's good news, it gives more encouragement.

0:17:20 > 0:17:22And finally, property three,

0:17:22 > 0:17:27the dream house is situated half an hour to the west of Melbourne in

0:17:27 > 0:17:31Epping. Once a separate town way back in the 1800s,

0:17:31 > 0:17:33it's now swallowed up by Melbourne.

0:17:33 > 0:17:36Vintage by Australian standards, there is a quaint,

0:17:36 > 0:17:38old-fashioned feel to it.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40But, with a two-year-old,

0:17:40 > 0:17:44is a period property what the Siwaks want for down under living?

0:17:45 > 0:17:47The outside of it is not a wow factor but...

0:17:47 > 0:17:49- Yeah.- ..I could see potential.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52- Yeah, definitely.- Once through the old-fashioned screen doors,

0:17:52 > 0:17:55Daniel and Edna react like they haven't before.

0:17:55 > 0:17:56- Wow.- Speechless.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59First impression, you know, when you walk in...

0:17:59 > 0:18:01- Yeah.- You feel like you're home.

0:18:01 > 0:18:04- OK.- But are their initial impressions premature?

0:18:04 > 0:18:07- It's not my ideal kitchen. - It's not modern enough, is it?

0:18:07 > 0:18:11No, I feel like we would have to do it up and fix it and it doesn't

0:18:11 > 0:18:13feel like home now, does it?

0:18:13 > 0:18:16And it's no better in the open-plan living area.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Where are we going to put the TV?

0:18:18 > 0:18:21It's like almost you have to block one of the doors to face the TV that

0:18:21 > 0:18:23- way.- Yeah, that's the only negative.

0:18:23 > 0:18:26Just feeling a bit dated, definitely needs repainting.

0:18:26 > 0:18:29But the upstairs is still to be explored.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31What will Edna make of the bedrooms?

0:18:31 > 0:18:33Wow, this is quite bright.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36Looks nice and simple but kind of doesn't.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38This more looks like my dream guest room.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41I wouldn't mind staying here once in a while.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43Yeah. Like a hotel room.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46- Pretty much.- Yeah. - Or just to get away from you.

0:18:46 > 0:18:51- What do you mean?- Moving on quickly, the bathroom's next.

0:18:51 > 0:18:53- Oh!- This is what I'm looking for.

0:18:53 > 0:18:56- This is a big en suite. - There's a lot of space.

0:18:56 > 0:18:59- Oh! There's a double sink.- That's a plus.- And then there's two mirrors.

0:18:59 > 0:19:00I can see myself.

0:19:02 > 0:19:06Things are looking up, and they've finally found the TV.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08Oh! Another living room.

0:19:08 > 0:19:10This is where the TV would go.

0:19:10 > 0:19:14- It's almost like a little mini cinema room.- Yeah.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17So, something of a mixed bag with this one.

0:19:17 > 0:19:18What do they make of it?

0:19:20 > 0:19:23- So what do you think of the house? - I think it has potential.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26I'm just not willing to do the work that this house needs.

0:19:26 > 0:19:31I think it's going to be around £1,400-£1,500 per month.

0:19:31 > 0:19:35Also you get an extra bedroom so I would say it's probably about 1,600.

0:19:42 > 0:19:43Oh, wow!

0:19:44 > 0:19:46- Oh!- That is a big shock.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48For a four-bedroom, with this amount of space?

0:19:48 > 0:19:52- That is amazing.- It definitely makes me feel a bit more relieved that we

0:19:52 > 0:19:54- can get more for our money. - Absolutely.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00House-hunting hasn't delivered them a dream home but it has shown them

0:20:00 > 0:20:03they can buy a lot of space for their dollars.

0:20:03 > 0:20:06Property one, the modern three-bedroom house wowed

0:20:06 > 0:20:08Daniel but Edna

0:20:08 > 0:20:12felt it was too small although the outdoor space impressed.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15Property two was more to their liking inside,

0:20:15 > 0:20:19but the main road and the small garden really disappointed.

0:20:20 > 0:20:25Property number three was the dream home for somebody, but not for them,

0:20:25 > 0:20:27the old-fashioned house was dated

0:20:27 > 0:20:29and dowdy but the couple were delighted

0:20:29 > 0:20:33that such a big house in a good area was still attainable.

0:20:33 > 0:20:38So, when it comes to property, will they vote home or away?

0:20:38 > 0:20:41Based on the three properties we've seen today, our vote goes to...

0:20:49 > 0:20:52- Australia!- Australia.

0:20:52 > 0:20:55So why did you vote for Australia today?

0:20:55 > 0:20:59The space that you get in the Australian houses is way more than

0:20:59 > 0:21:02what you get in London. And it's just quite affordable as well.

0:21:02 > 0:21:05Even though the houses weren't exactly what we wanted,

0:21:05 > 0:21:07the potential was there. I am really

0:21:07 > 0:21:09excited that you voted for Australia.

0:21:09 > 0:21:12- Yeah.- That means you're slowly coming to my side.

0:21:20 > 0:21:24Finding out the rental price of homes has made getting the right

0:21:24 > 0:21:27jobs down under the Siwaks' number one priority.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30Edna knows beyond doubt Daniel would

0:21:30 > 0:21:33need to earn a good wage if the dream is ever going to happen.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37Today we'll give the couple the opportunity to explore their chances

0:21:37 > 0:21:39of finding work in Australia.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44Back in London, Daniel is a delivery van driver.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47To make ends meet, he holds down two jobs.

0:21:47 > 0:21:52He works all the hours he can, but the family still struggles financially.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54Even though I'm not really happy at the moment,

0:21:54 > 0:21:58I'm forced to work these two jobs obviously to provide for the family.

0:21:58 > 0:22:02He wouldn't mind changing gear and doing something else.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04He does voluntary youth work and

0:22:04 > 0:22:06loves it but it doesn't pay the bills.

0:22:06 > 0:22:10The responsibility to provide for his family weighs heavily on his

0:22:10 > 0:22:15- shoulders.- If I can't find the right job that pays the right salary,

0:22:15 > 0:22:18there's no way I'm moving to Australia.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20Wife Edna, meanwhile, works as a

0:22:20 > 0:22:22part-time HR and recruitment officer.

0:22:22 > 0:22:26I love my job here in the UK and enjoy the people I work with.

0:22:26 > 0:22:29But work satisfaction isn't enough.

0:22:29 > 0:22:32Edna's ready for a whole new adventure and she is upping her

0:22:32 > 0:22:36skill set to ensure she is definitely wanted down under.

0:22:36 > 0:22:42I decided to take up studies just to extend my career path and try

0:22:42 > 0:22:46- something different.- But she knows that both of them finding proper

0:22:46 > 0:22:48jobs with the right salaries is going to be crucial.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52If I can't find the right opportunities there,

0:22:52 > 0:22:55it basically could end the dream.

0:22:56 > 0:23:00Daniel hopes he might follow his dream and become a full-time youth

0:23:00 > 0:23:01worker in Australia.

0:23:01 > 0:23:04He's off to Melbourne City Mission to see the sort of work

0:23:04 > 0:23:06they do there.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08Young people come here to access a variety of services,

0:23:08 > 0:23:10including an on-site nurse.

0:23:10 > 0:23:12But with limited qualifications, is

0:23:12 > 0:23:15it a realistic work option for Daniel?

0:23:15 > 0:23:17After a short tour, he sits down with senior manager

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Molly O'Shaughnessy to find out.

0:23:19 > 0:23:23I've had a look at your CV and I know you are really

0:23:23 > 0:23:24passionate about youth work.

0:23:24 > 0:23:27To really get a foot in the door in the youth work field,

0:23:27 > 0:23:31I recommend you did a bit further education and training.

0:23:31 > 0:23:34I'd suggest you looked at maybe doing a Certificate 4 in youth work

0:23:34 > 0:23:37or community services or maybe even a diploma,

0:23:37 > 0:23:39which is about 12 months' study.

0:23:40 > 0:23:43Meanwhile, across town, Edna's feeling under pressure.

0:23:43 > 0:23:47I'm feeling nervous because it's extremely important for us to have

0:23:47 > 0:23:50the right salary, otherwise a move here would not be possible.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52She's meeting Hayden Fricke,

0:23:52 > 0:23:56a director of recruitment consultants Peoplescape.

0:23:56 > 0:23:59They use psychological profiling with clients,

0:23:59 > 0:24:02right up our masters student's street,

0:24:02 > 0:24:04but will she be a perfect fit for them?

0:24:04 > 0:24:07So, Edna, I've had a look at your CV, which looks great, by the way.

0:24:07 > 0:24:11You've effectively done four years versus in Australia six years,

0:24:11 > 0:24:13so you are not quite at the same

0:24:13 > 0:24:15level as a masters degree in Australia.

0:24:15 > 0:24:20However, the good news is that with two more years doing a masters in

0:24:20 > 0:24:23Australia, you will be in a position to then get registered and call

0:24:23 > 0:24:24yourself an organisational psychologist.

0:24:24 > 0:24:27If I did that, what would be my job prospects?

0:24:27 > 0:24:32Then your options short and long-term would be fantastic.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35I think there's lots of opportunity for organisational psychologists in

0:24:35 > 0:24:37Australia.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40Back home, Edna earns £11,000 a year in her part-time job,

0:24:40 > 0:24:44which doesn't go far in the UK's capital city.

0:24:44 > 0:24:48The all-important question is how much could she earn down under?

0:24:49 > 0:24:52A graduate level, an entry-level organisation psychologist,

0:24:52 > 0:24:57would probably get a salary equivalent in UK pounds of about

0:24:57 > 0:25:01between £43-49,000.

0:25:01 > 0:25:04Really? Are you serious?

0:25:04 > 0:25:06- Entry-level?- Entry-level.- Pounds?

0:25:06 > 0:25:11- Yes.- Excuse me, I might fall off my seat here.

0:25:11 > 0:25:15It's an incredible increase of over £30,000.

0:25:15 > 0:25:17Edna is delighted.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20- That's really, really great news. - Good luck with your decision.

0:25:20 > 0:25:21Yes. I think I made it!

0:25:23 > 0:25:25Back at Melbourne City Mission,

0:25:25 > 0:25:28Daniel is also asking about his earnings.

0:25:28 > 0:25:30What kind of salary could I expect?

0:25:30 > 0:25:34Probably, if you were to get a job as an entry-level youth worker,

0:25:34 > 0:25:39you could expect to earn about £30-35,000 a year.

0:25:39 > 0:25:45Yeah. If you were to get a higher level of qualification,

0:25:45 > 0:25:47say a social work qualification,

0:25:47 > 0:25:51where you might be able to work in community health or hospitals as

0:25:51 > 0:25:54well, that would earn you quite a lot more.

0:25:54 > 0:25:58That's double what he makes in the UK. He is flabbergasted.

0:25:58 > 0:26:01Yeah, I'm quite shocked, the fact that they were so positive, really.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05All the positive things I'm hearing,

0:26:05 > 0:26:08not just about the income and about the work itself,

0:26:08 > 0:26:11but just the people itself, they love what they do and it is

0:26:11 > 0:26:13something I would love to be part of.

0:26:13 > 0:26:15Could Daniel be warming to the dream?

0:26:15 > 0:26:18It's hard to keep the smile from their faces when he meets up with

0:26:18 > 0:26:20Edna to talk about their days.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22- So, how was your day? - My day was amazing,

0:26:22 > 0:26:24it couldn't have gone any better.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27- Really?- The people were amazing, the place was great.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29So, what sort of salary can you earn?

0:26:29 > 0:26:34The salary at entry level with the skills and experience I have is between

0:26:34 > 0:26:39£30-35,000 per year, pretty much double what I get at the moment.

0:26:39 > 0:26:43- Wow.- I would have to do pretty much six months to one year extra studies

0:26:43 > 0:26:46- that I could do part-time. - That is great news.

0:26:46 > 0:26:49My qualifications, unfortunately, wouldn't be as transferable,

0:26:49 > 0:26:53so would have to add on another two years,

0:26:53 > 0:26:55or the other option is to do one

0:26:55 > 0:26:58year unsupervised training, however,

0:26:58 > 0:27:01for an entry-level organisational psychologist,

0:27:01 > 0:27:03a salary I can expect with my

0:27:03 > 0:27:08experience and skills would be between £43-49,000...

0:27:08 > 0:27:12- That's at entry-level?- ..pounds per year, that's entry-level.

0:27:12 > 0:27:16So, after everything they've discovered, what do we think?

0:27:16 > 0:27:19Will the couple choose work in Australia or the UK?

0:27:19 > 0:27:22This one seems a foregone conclusion.

0:27:22 > 0:27:25Based on the work meetings we had today, our vote goes to...

0:27:35 > 0:27:36BOTH: ..Australia.

0:27:38 > 0:27:39So why did you vote for Australia?

0:27:39 > 0:27:41It's obvious! More money!

0:27:41 > 0:27:45The meeting I had today just ticked off all the boxes for me.

0:27:45 > 0:27:49It would mean I would have a better work/life balance as a family.

0:27:49 > 0:27:52It's really great to know that you are actually coming over to my side

0:27:52 > 0:27:54and seeing things the way I've been seeing it.

0:27:54 > 0:27:58I'm just really happy that we've had the news we've had today.

0:28:02 > 0:28:06Halfway through their trial week, and it couldn't be going better for

0:28:06 > 0:28:09Edna's mission to convince her cautious

0:28:09 > 0:28:12husband their future lies in Australia.

0:28:12 > 0:28:16But there is still that all important financial reality check

0:28:16 > 0:28:22and messages from home to come, and that can change everything.

0:28:22 > 0:28:26First, though, it's time for the Siwaks to sample the sort of

0:28:26 > 0:28:29lifestyle the family might be able to enjoy in Melbourne.

0:28:30 > 0:28:35With two votes in favour, things are definitely going Edna's way.

0:28:35 > 0:28:39She's hoping some quality family time will convince Daniel further

0:28:39 > 0:28:40this is where they should be.

0:28:40 > 0:28:44They head to the city centre Royal Park for some nature play.

0:28:45 > 0:28:47One, two, three, wheee!

0:28:51 > 0:28:54Being in Australia has actually enhanced my dream,

0:28:54 > 0:28:59it's actually made me want to have a future here with my family more than

0:28:59 > 0:29:03ever. So I'm just actually really excited that it's actually lived up

0:29:03 > 0:29:04to my expectations.

0:29:07 > 0:29:11And it seems like the rest of the family agree.

0:29:11 > 0:29:12High five!

0:29:13 > 0:29:17These couple of days in Melbourne, I've really enjoyed it so far.

0:29:17 > 0:29:20Just being able to see Jotham happy all the time.

0:29:20 > 0:29:21This place is perfect for Jotham.

0:29:21 > 0:29:26Look at him, he is, like, running, he is happy.

0:29:26 > 0:29:29To be able to see him do the things that he wouldn't be able to do in

0:29:29 > 0:29:31London, it just makes me really happy.

0:29:31 > 0:29:35It just kind of inclines me to actually think this could be

0:29:35 > 0:29:38something that he could do on a daily basis

0:29:38 > 0:29:40- in Melbourne.- You did it!

0:29:40 > 0:29:43The park is just amazing.

0:29:43 > 0:29:46- There's so much space for him to run around.- Yeah.

0:29:46 > 0:29:48I could imagine myself taking him out for a walk.

0:29:48 > 0:29:51- Definitely.- It will end up being a longer walk than expected.

0:29:52 > 0:29:56- Go, baby, go.- Daniel's had such fun with Jotham,

0:29:56 > 0:29:59but is it enough to make the distance from home worthwhile?

0:29:59 > 0:30:04I have on one side, Jotham, Edna and myself having such a great time,

0:30:04 > 0:30:07pretty much living the life that we always dreamed of.

0:30:07 > 0:30:13On the other side, I have my family living across the whole world.

0:30:14 > 0:30:16It's just, it's kind of heartbreaking, really.

0:30:16 > 0:30:18I'm not sure what I'm still looking for.

0:30:18 > 0:30:20I don't think it's enough

0:30:20 > 0:30:24to actually make me feel I would have the courage

0:30:24 > 0:30:27to leave all my family behind.

0:30:27 > 0:30:30Climbing those hills sure takes it out of you, Jotham.

0:30:30 > 0:30:33While he has a well earned nap back at the rental,

0:30:33 > 0:30:35a surprise call really cheers up the family.

0:30:35 > 0:30:37Look, Vanessa's calling.

0:30:37 > 0:30:38It's Edna's big sister.

0:30:38 > 0:30:39Hi!

0:30:39 > 0:30:41Hey, Vanny.

0:30:41 > 0:30:43We miss you!

0:30:43 > 0:30:45So far, we like it here, it's definitely different,

0:30:45 > 0:30:48a whole different culture, a different way of living,

0:30:48 > 0:30:50a different lifestyle. It's just so different,

0:30:50 > 0:30:52you feel like you want to be outside and get up and go.

0:30:52 > 0:30:55- I miss you. - Miss you, too.

0:30:55 > 0:30:59But seeing a familiar face sparks another concern.

0:30:59 > 0:31:01London is so multicultural,

0:31:01 > 0:31:05the couple never think about them being a mixed-race family.

0:31:05 > 0:31:07But how multicultural is Melbourne?

0:31:10 > 0:31:14Back in the park, Edna meets Jackie, a mum with a mixed-race family.

0:31:15 > 0:31:17So how is Melbourne for mixed-race couples?

0:31:17 > 0:31:21I think it's great, I think they find the fact that two different

0:31:21 > 0:31:24backgrounds coming together creating beautiful children, for one,

0:31:24 > 0:31:28and having different backgrounds and cultures to introduce to the kids is

0:31:28 > 0:31:31great. It's like, you're a person, come in and you are welcome here,

0:31:31 > 0:31:33- that's how I feel. - Oh, that's really good,

0:31:33 > 0:31:37because we want something different but we don't want something too

0:31:37 > 0:31:41drastic. That makes us feel so much better. Hi!

0:31:41 > 0:31:45That all sounds great, Edna's feeling happy,

0:31:45 > 0:31:49but knows it's not a done deal as far as Daniel's concerned.

0:31:49 > 0:31:50I think Daniel loved today,

0:31:50 > 0:31:55he was loving the sun and actually spending time with us as a family.

0:31:55 > 0:31:57Was today enough to convince Daniel?

0:31:58 > 0:32:01I don't know. We just have to wait and see.

0:32:01 > 0:32:05So, after a day sampling all that Melbourne has to offer,

0:32:05 > 0:32:06what way are they going to vote?

0:32:08 > 0:32:11Based on our great day out today, our vote goes to...

0:32:21 > 0:32:22BOTH: ..Australia.

0:32:24 > 0:32:26So, why did you vote for Australia?

0:32:26 > 0:32:31I think it's just clear, everything that we wanted from today's day out,

0:32:31 > 0:32:32it's exactly what we got, isn't it?

0:32:32 > 0:32:35Even though I still have a few worries,

0:32:35 > 0:32:38today has really proven to me that we can actually fit in.

0:32:38 > 0:32:40It's actually showed me that we can

0:32:40 > 0:32:42spend more time together as a family.

0:32:42 > 0:32:43The fact that we met Jackie today,

0:32:43 > 0:32:46she just reassured us that we wouldn't stick out,

0:32:46 > 0:32:48we wouldn't feel like outsiders here,

0:32:48 > 0:32:51we would actually feel like part of the community.

0:32:57 > 0:33:00It's win-win for Edna all the way.

0:33:00 > 0:33:01With another vote for Australia,

0:33:01 > 0:33:05a permanent move to the other side of the world looks like it could

0:33:05 > 0:33:10become a reality for the Siwaks, but only if the finances add up.

0:33:10 > 0:33:12Right, let's have a look at our shopping list.

0:33:12 > 0:33:17It's time to find out how the cost of living down under compares with the UK.

0:33:17 > 0:33:22White potatoes, in the UK, cost us £1.19.

0:33:22 > 0:33:25Here, it's £4.26.

0:33:25 > 0:33:28- That's a huge jump, isn't it? - Yeah, it's like £3 more.

0:33:28 > 0:33:31And Jo likes white potatoes, we might have to find something else for him.

0:33:31 > 0:33:37Jo's nappies, we use a lot of those, so that's about £3.33 in the UK.

0:33:37 > 0:33:39Here, £3.96.

0:33:39 > 0:33:44In Australia, our shopping bill would be £93.37.

0:33:44 > 0:33:49£31.52 worse off every week.

0:33:49 > 0:33:50It's not too bad.

0:33:50 > 0:33:53Some groceries and clothing are more expensive,

0:33:53 > 0:33:55but what about the bigger outgoings?

0:33:55 > 0:33:58So childcare in the UK costs us £0,

0:33:58 > 0:34:02as we always have someone to watch Jo and I only work part-time,

0:34:02 > 0:34:05so that helps. But obviously if we come over here,

0:34:05 > 0:34:06I'll be working full-time.

0:34:06 > 0:34:08Wow, that's a big jump.

0:34:08 > 0:34:11£704 per month.

0:34:11 > 0:34:14Once again, family, or rather the lack of them,

0:34:14 > 0:34:17is going to be a major consideration.

0:34:17 > 0:34:20That has not made me too happy about this.

0:34:20 > 0:34:22That makes me feel very concerned.

0:34:23 > 0:34:27But when Edna factors in her new wage, the figures look healthier,

0:34:27 > 0:34:31- very much so.- In Australia, after studying,

0:34:31 > 0:34:39I'll be taking home £2,093.36 extra per month.

0:34:39 > 0:34:42That is... That's another income!

0:34:42 > 0:34:45- It is.- Next, they include Daniel's earnings.

0:34:47 > 0:34:54In Australia you'll be earning £2,480 per month.

0:34:54 > 0:34:59If we decided to do our studies, we would be

0:34:59 > 0:35:07£3,008.50 better off

0:35:07 > 0:35:09- every month.- That's a huge figure.

0:35:12 > 0:35:15Wow. I am lost for words.

0:35:15 > 0:35:19That is, pretty much, the money will be left to do whatever we like.

0:35:19 > 0:35:23We can afford a better house, a bigger house.

0:35:23 > 0:35:25- Oh, yeah.- Can we move tomorrow?

0:35:27 > 0:35:30But what this means suddenly hits Daniel.

0:35:30 > 0:35:34I mean, my main idea of moving would be for Jotham,

0:35:34 > 0:35:39and the fact that we could actually provide for him,

0:35:39 > 0:35:43with whatever he needs, with that amount of money,

0:35:43 > 0:35:45it just makes everything harder.

0:35:45 > 0:35:48They head back to the park to reflect,

0:35:48 > 0:35:50but it's soon time to vote on

0:35:50 > 0:35:53finances in the UK versus down under.

0:35:53 > 0:35:56Based on our reality check today, our vote goes to...

0:36:04 > 0:36:05BOTH: ..Australia!

0:36:06 > 0:36:08So, why did you pick Australia?

0:36:08 > 0:36:11I think I would be silly if I didn't, really,

0:36:11 > 0:36:16just knowing that we'll be in jobs that we love and to get that kind of

0:36:16 > 0:36:18sum every month, it just would mean so much -

0:36:18 > 0:36:20it would be life-changing.

0:36:20 > 0:36:23The fact that we could just put in a little bit more studying,

0:36:23 > 0:36:26just like one or two years, then we could be earning that,

0:36:26 > 0:36:28it just blows my mind.

0:36:28 > 0:36:30That money could do so much for our family.

0:36:30 > 0:36:34I mean, I'm not surprised that you voted for Australia.

0:36:34 > 0:36:36Even if we're probably worse off you'll still vote for Australia,

0:36:36 > 0:36:40but it makes me happy, the fact that you're happy.

0:36:40 > 0:36:43Oh, that's so cute - give me a hug!

0:36:51 > 0:36:54All the votes so far are for Australia,

0:36:54 > 0:36:56but now the hardest part of the week,

0:36:56 > 0:37:00and the one Edna fears could scupper all her plans.

0:37:00 > 0:37:04The couple sit down to watch messages from loved ones at home together.

0:37:04 > 0:37:08Right, let's have a look at our messages.

0:37:08 > 0:37:13- Hi!- Hi, guys - love you! - Hi, Daniel,

0:37:13 > 0:37:17- hi, Edna!- I love spending time with them so much.

0:37:17 > 0:37:19They're such a brilliant family.

0:37:19 > 0:37:22Daniel is humble, loving and caring.

0:37:23 > 0:37:27The best brother a sister could ask for.

0:37:27 > 0:37:29Edna is funny...

0:37:29 > 0:37:33She's loving, she's caring, she's always supportive.

0:37:33 > 0:37:35Jotham is really cute.

0:37:35 > 0:37:37Jotham's a very happy boy,

0:37:37 > 0:37:41and I think the most happiest baby I've ever came across.

0:37:41 > 0:37:45If she wants to move this would be a great opportunity for her to explore

0:37:45 > 0:37:51- it.- Obviously I would be upset if they did end up moving there, but

0:37:51 > 0:37:52I'd still feel happy for them.

0:37:52 > 0:38:00From one to 100, I'll miss them about 95.

0:38:00 > 0:38:05I don't want them to go because I love them so much.

0:38:05 > 0:38:09It's going to be really painful for me, to miss Jo especially.

0:38:09 > 0:38:13A new grandson - my heart stopped and said, "Oh, my God,

0:38:13 > 0:38:17"they're going to take away the thing I love the most."

0:38:17 > 0:38:24We all miss you lots and we all love you.

0:38:24 > 0:38:27Make sure that you make the right decision for yourself,

0:38:27 > 0:38:30and also I hope that it's the right one.

0:38:30 > 0:38:32I know you guys will find a way to make it work.

0:38:32 > 0:38:33You guys always have.

0:38:33 > 0:38:38It's your decision, but you know it's going to be tough for us here.

0:38:38 > 0:38:40You have my full support.

0:38:40 > 0:38:43You are never out of my life and I love you guys so much.

0:38:45 > 0:38:47If I could stop you, I would,

0:38:47 > 0:38:51but if it's the decision that's going to make you happy,

0:38:51 > 0:38:54and moving to Australia is going to change your life,

0:38:54 > 0:38:55I'll support you all the way.

0:38:58 > 0:39:04- Wow. That was... That wasn't easy, was it, watching that?- I know.

0:39:04 > 0:39:07It makes me want to cry, but I'm not going to cry.

0:39:07 > 0:39:10It just makes me feel a little bit selfish, to be honest.

0:39:10 > 0:39:14At the same time, could we go back to what we were doing before?

0:39:15 > 0:39:18For me, it hasn't changed much.

0:39:18 > 0:39:22There will be opportunities for them to come or for us to go.

0:39:22 > 0:39:23But would they even consider coming?

0:39:23 > 0:39:25Watching our messages today just

0:39:25 > 0:39:30made me a bit more confused than I was already when I came.

0:39:30 > 0:39:31Really worried now

0:39:31 > 0:39:35- where your head is at.- It makes me want to go back home, to be honest.

0:39:40 > 0:39:42At the start of the trial week,

0:39:42 > 0:39:46the Siwak family were well and truly divided.

0:39:46 > 0:39:51Free spirit Edna saw the world as her oyster, and was drawn to Oz,

0:39:51 > 0:39:55while home bird Daniel wanted to stay close to his roots in London.

0:39:55 > 0:40:00But has Melbourne and all that it's offered been enough to change minds

0:40:00 > 0:40:03and get them both on the same page?

0:40:03 > 0:40:06What would you do in the circumstances?

0:40:06 > 0:40:07Let's see what they decide.

0:40:07 > 0:40:09It's time for the final vote.

0:40:11 > 0:40:13There's obviously a lot to think

0:40:13 > 0:40:15about before they make that decision.

0:40:15 > 0:40:17And as thoughts turn to the journey home,

0:40:17 > 0:40:21they are moments away from making their minds up.

0:40:21 > 0:40:25It puts such a smile on my face to see Jo so happy,

0:40:25 > 0:40:28and I could actually picture him growing up here.

0:40:28 > 0:40:30There's just so many more opportunities here for him.

0:40:30 > 0:40:34Just looking over at Daniel and seeing him play with Jotham,

0:40:34 > 0:40:37in this beautiful weather, in this peaceful park,

0:40:37 > 0:40:39it just makes me feel like, yes,

0:40:39 > 0:40:42this is exactly what I was looking for.

0:40:44 > 0:40:45There's a lot to take in.

0:40:45 > 0:40:48Daniel's thoughts are as mixed up as ever.

0:40:48 > 0:40:52In this week, everything that I wanted to hear, I've heard.

0:40:52 > 0:40:54All the boxes that I wanted to tick, ticked.

0:40:54 > 0:40:58But at the same time it would still be a challenge moving and starting a

0:40:58 > 0:41:00life all over again.

0:41:00 > 0:41:03- I don't know which way to go.- Edna's under no illusion that Daniel is

0:41:03 > 0:41:05wrestling with which way to vote.

0:41:05 > 0:41:09Seeing Daniel's face change during the friends and family messages,

0:41:09 > 0:41:11those messages kind of reminded him

0:41:11 > 0:41:13of the doubts he had in the beginning

0:41:13 > 0:41:16when we were still in the UK, that can he really do this?

0:41:16 > 0:41:20And I'm still concerned that he might still decide not to come.

0:41:21 > 0:41:23How is it, Jo? Yeah?

0:41:23 > 0:41:26High five! This is the biggest decision we're ever going to have to

0:41:26 > 0:41:29make as a family, and it has to be the right one.

0:41:29 > 0:41:31They can't put it off any longer.

0:41:31 > 0:41:36It's now time for the family to vote on where their future lies.

0:41:36 > 0:41:40After a great week in Melbourne, Australia, our vote goes to...

0:41:54 > 0:41:55BOTH: ..Australia.

0:41:56 > 0:41:58Really?

0:41:58 > 0:42:02Yeah, I had a long think about it and I just feel like I would be mad

0:42:02 > 0:42:05not to actually consider Jo growing up here.

0:42:05 > 0:42:07Even though I'll be making that huge sacrifice,

0:42:07 > 0:42:09it'll just be something I will have to live with.

0:42:09 > 0:42:11I thought you were really going to pick undecided,

0:42:11 > 0:42:15and then I was going to be so upset and sad and...

0:42:15 > 0:42:16I never thought I would say this,

0:42:16 > 0:42:18but I'm actually happy that you brought me here,

0:42:18 > 0:42:20just to experience the life,

0:42:20 > 0:42:23the dream life that you always wanted and always talked about.

0:42:23 > 0:42:26I know it's going to be hard for you to leave friends and family behind.

0:42:26 > 0:42:27It's going to be hard for me too,

0:42:27 > 0:42:30but I just know that they're going to see how well we're doing and

0:42:30 > 0:42:34eventually they're going to get convinced to come over themselves.

0:42:34 > 0:42:35We're moving to Australia!

0:42:35 > 0:42:40Come here. Oh, dear.

0:42:49 > 0:42:51So Edna won the day.

0:42:51 > 0:42:54It's been a difficult decision for Daniel,

0:42:54 > 0:42:58but in balance the prospect of a bright future in Australia for their

0:42:58 > 0:43:03little boy Jotham promised too much for them to turn down.

0:43:03 > 0:43:07We wish the Siwaks the very best on the next leg of their journey,

0:43:07 > 0:43:11and of course we'll be keeping an eye out to see if they do return

0:43:11 > 0:43:14down under, or decide to stay in London town.
