0:00:02 > 0:00:05Rob Taylor's dreams of being a professional footballer

0:00:05 > 0:00:07were shattered by a devastating injury.

0:00:07 > 0:00:11To have that taken away from you and everything that it brings,

0:00:11 > 0:00:16yeah, it was tough on me and it was also tough on the family.

0:00:16 > 0:00:20But life has moved on and, originally his wife's dream,

0:00:20 > 0:00:24Rob is now pinning his hopes on a new start in Australia.

0:00:24 > 0:00:27It's definitely made me more focused to move.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29It's kind of turned around a little bit

0:00:29 > 0:00:31and I'm the one that's pushing it.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34But wife Selina's been through the tough times

0:00:34 > 0:00:38and wants to stay close to the support of family at home.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41It would be really difficult to say goodbye.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44Will a week sampling the Australian lifestyle convince Selina

0:00:44 > 0:00:47it's the right move?

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Really good to spend quality time together for a change.

0:00:50 > 0:00:52Or will the thought of taking daughter Alanna

0:00:52 > 0:00:56away from family be just too much to take?

0:00:56 > 0:00:59It is pretty hard to think she won't know them

0:00:59 > 0:01:03like she would as if we were back home.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Lying in the southern hemisphere,

0:01:28 > 0:01:32Australia is around 30 times larger than the UK

0:01:32 > 0:01:35but with just over a third of the population.

0:01:35 > 0:01:39With room to roam, a buoyant economy and chilled-out lifestyle,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42it's no wonder it's been the number one destination for Brits

0:01:42 > 0:01:44on the move for the past 20 years.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49From the day and hour they met,

0:01:49 > 0:01:54Selina had been selling the idea of living in Australia to husband Rob.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56It was the land of her dreams.

0:01:56 > 0:02:00But fast-forward three years, and it's role reversal,

0:02:00 > 0:02:05with Selina the stumbling block and husband Rob pushing to go.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09A trial week in Melbourne will show the couple if they could

0:02:09 > 0:02:11and should up sticks and go.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15Then the couple can make their final decision

0:02:15 > 0:02:17as to where their future lies.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20The Taylors have flown from the UK to Melbourne.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Trouble refuelling on the last leg has meant it's taken

0:02:23 > 0:02:25quite a bit longer than expected.

0:02:29 > 0:02:34We left Saturday night and we've just arrived Tuesday morning,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36so, it's been quite a nightmare.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39Yet it hasn't fazed baby Alanna at all.

0:02:39 > 0:02:43She was an absolute star, so proud of her.

0:02:43 > 0:02:45At least we know we can do the journey now.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48And Rob's already thinking about the task ahead.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51This week's got quite a lot riding on it.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55Me and Australia, I suppose, have a lot to prove to Selina.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59He's got just seven days to convince Selina

0:02:59 > 0:03:01their future lies in Australia.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06in terms of testing out everything.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09It kind of would draw a line in the sand for me.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Meet the Taylors.

0:03:17 > 0:03:22Dad Rob, mum Selina and baby Alanna who's two.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25Rob and Selina first got together ten years ago.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29She contacted me on social media and commented on a picture.

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Four topless guys on a beach

0:03:31 > 0:03:35and there was one in particular that looked really hot!

0:03:35 > 0:03:38We got talking for a few months and then we finally met up

0:03:38 > 0:03:40and we've not looked back since.

0:03:40 > 0:03:44And one of the things they talked about was Australia.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47When I was 15, my mum took me to Australia.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49It really was a bit of a holiday of a lifetime,

0:03:49 > 0:03:54and I just knew then that that was kind of where I wanted to end up.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58I didn't think much of it, you know, for the first year or two.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00Then it got mentioned more often.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04The more I told him about all the fabulous things out there

0:04:04 > 0:04:08and all the opportunities, he soon then became persuaded

0:04:08 > 0:04:11to wanting to go out to Australia as well.

0:04:11 > 0:04:14When they got married in 2013,

0:04:14 > 0:04:17there was just one destination for the honeymoon

0:04:17 > 0:04:20and, like Selina, Rob fell in love as well.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23It's an amazing country.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25The people that we met were so lovely and friendly.

0:04:25 > 0:04:29The views and the scenery are just, you know, stunning.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32And it was from that point on that we made a pact about

0:04:32 > 0:04:35a five-year plan to actually go and live out there.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38We left kind of very happy and very excited

0:04:38 > 0:04:40on what the future might hold.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43The couple returned to the UK

0:04:43 > 0:04:45and started saving towards the move happening.

0:04:45 > 0:04:49At that point, Rob was on the cusp of a glittering career

0:04:49 > 0:04:51as a professional footballer.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Like every little boy, it was my dream

0:04:53 > 0:04:55to be a professional footballer.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59I signed for Port Vale and I played seven or eight seasons there

0:04:59 > 0:05:03and then I moved on up to Mansfield for six months

0:05:03 > 0:05:05and then I went to sign for Tranmere.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07Amazing memories.

0:05:07 > 0:05:11You know, I scored some great goals, met some amazing people in football.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15But just as things were taking off,

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Rob's dream was stopped in its tracks.

0:05:17 > 0:05:21Rob, whose career was going really well at the time with Tranmere,

0:05:21 > 0:05:25sustained an injury that, unfortunately after two operations,

0:05:25 > 0:05:28he just couldn't come back from it.

0:05:28 > 0:05:33To have that taken away from you and everything that it brings,

0:05:33 > 0:05:38yeah, it was tough for me and it was also tough on the family as well.

0:05:40 > 0:05:44You know, 12 months of physio and operations, you know,

0:05:44 > 0:05:46me and Selina just had to come to the conclusion

0:05:46 > 0:05:47that it just wasn't going to happen.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51We had to make the really tough decision that

0:05:51 > 0:05:54he would have to retire prematurely from football.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57With Rob the main breadwinner,

0:05:57 > 0:05:59what should have been a wonderful time was becoming

0:05:59 > 0:06:01ever more stressful as Selina was pregnant.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Talk of emigrating was the last thing on their minds

0:06:04 > 0:06:07as they struggled to cope.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11What with Rob's retirement, the new baby,

0:06:11 > 0:06:16all our savings gone that were intended for the move to Australia,

0:06:16 > 0:06:17it just couldn't happen

0:06:17 > 0:06:22and that just became a complete backfoot dream at that point.

0:06:25 > 0:06:29Fast-forward two years and the couple, like baby Alanna,

0:06:29 > 0:06:31are getting back on their feet.

0:06:32 > 0:06:36I've recently managed to secure a good job.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40Although looking after Alanna, I'm getting all my coaching badges,

0:06:40 > 0:06:43so, I've just passed one and looking to do my next.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46He's out of football, he's in a good place

0:06:46 > 0:06:50and looking for his next chapter in terms of career.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53So much so, Rob feels it's time to kick around

0:06:53 > 0:06:56the Australian dream once more.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58Maybe Alanna would like to, too.

0:06:58 > 0:07:02Seeing how she's growing up and her personality,

0:07:02 > 0:07:06I think Australia would be a great country for her to be brought up in.

0:07:06 > 0:07:11It's definitely made me more focused to move to Australia.

0:07:11 > 0:07:13It's kind of turned around a little bit

0:07:13 > 0:07:15and I'm the one that's pushing it.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20But it's all change for Selina who now has cold feet.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24With the bad days too fresh a memory,

0:07:24 > 0:07:28a move would mean sacrificing strong family support at home.

0:07:28 > 0:07:30I am worried about obviously

0:07:30 > 0:07:33not having any support network out there,

0:07:33 > 0:07:35with leaving family and friends here.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43So, it would be really difficult to say goodbye.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46Um, we're really close.

0:07:46 > 0:07:50And Rob is incredibly close to the man who was his inspiration

0:07:50 > 0:07:53as a young footballer, his grandad.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55They were very good, United were.

0:07:55 > 0:07:59I've been, you know, very close to him, you know, since I was 15,

0:07:59 > 0:08:02and he's got to an age now where he's, you know, been ill a few times

0:08:02 > 0:08:07and to go away from him, yeah, would be a very hard decision

0:08:07 > 0:08:10and something that, you know, would still play on my mind

0:08:10 > 0:08:13even if we did make the move.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16But it was the couple's joint dream for so long,

0:08:16 > 0:08:20so, the trial week will have to answer a lot of questions.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22It's quite black-and-white for me,

0:08:22 > 0:08:26and if those things don't stack up or aren't feasible,

0:08:26 > 0:08:30then, for me, that's the dream dead in the water,

0:08:30 > 0:08:32um, it's kind of game over.

0:08:37 > 0:08:41The Taylors are spending their trial week in the Point Cook area

0:08:41 > 0:08:46of Melbourne, around 16 miles from Melbourne's city centre.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48What will they make of their temporary home?

0:08:48 > 0:08:51Oh, wow. Oh, look at the view.

0:08:51 > 0:08:54If first impressions are anything to go by,

0:08:54 > 0:08:56it looks like the week's off to a good start.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01Mum, no time for a rest!

0:09:01 > 0:09:05Alanna's keen to let off a little steam after three days on a plane.

0:09:05 > 0:09:09Mum and Dad are just glad to stand still.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13And now, with some steam let off, reality begins to set in.

0:09:15 > 0:09:19It's quite crazy to think like we could be living here.

0:09:19 > 0:09:23I can definitely see this being a place where we'd want to live.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25Four years since their last visit,

0:09:25 > 0:09:28the honeymoon period's definitely over.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30It feels very different this time

0:09:30 > 0:09:33- because we are looking at it from the viewpoint...- True, yeah.

0:09:33 > 0:09:34..of, like, the final move.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36Do you think it will be a good outcome?

0:09:36 > 0:09:39Yeah, I'm feeling quite positive, actually.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47Back in the UK, the Taylors live in the town of Bridgnorth

0:09:47 > 0:09:51in Shropshire, in a three-bedroom red-brick house.

0:09:51 > 0:09:55As a first home, it's been a labour of love.

0:09:55 > 0:09:58We've literally kind of done everything that you can to it.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00We've got it exactly how we want it, and I think

0:10:00 > 0:10:02that was the beauty of doing the house up ourselves.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06The town is lovely, so, in many ways it suits us just fine.

0:10:06 > 0:10:10They've got a budget of £300,000 for a home down under

0:10:10 > 0:10:13and know exactly what the right house should look like.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16- Minimum of four bedrooms. - Open-plan.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Yeah, in terms of the kitchen and dining,

0:10:18 > 0:10:21but the most important thing would have to be the outdoor space

0:10:21 > 0:10:25because that's the whole point for us to move to Australia.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27But, after a lot of hard work,

0:10:27 > 0:10:30will it be hard to leave the house they love in the UK?

0:10:31 > 0:10:33Yeah, we've definitely got that emotional attachment to it.

0:10:33 > 0:10:37And bringing up our little girl for the first two years of her life,

0:10:37 > 0:10:42it would be a sad thing to do, to sell it, really.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45I don't know. At the end of the day, if you were going to

0:10:45 > 0:10:47an amazing house in Australia,

0:10:47 > 0:10:50- I'd soon forget about it! - Well, yeah, no...

0:10:53 > 0:10:56To find out what kind of house they could afford,

0:10:56 > 0:10:59today, we'll show the family three properties,

0:10:59 > 0:11:01two based on their budget

0:11:01 > 0:11:04and a third which could be a dream Australian home.

0:11:04 > 0:11:08Only after they've seen each one will they find out its value.

0:11:08 > 0:11:12First stop is the relatively new suburb of Wyndham Vale.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14It's 22 miles from Melbourne city centre

0:11:14 > 0:11:18but, with good transport links and family-friendly facilities close by,

0:11:18 > 0:11:21it could suit the Taylors' needs.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24What will they make of this four-bedroom new-build?

0:11:25 > 0:11:27- Oh, wow.- Mm.

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Really nice.

0:11:29 > 0:11:33It's open-plan like sort of living-dining,

0:11:33 > 0:11:36but you're still slightly screened off from the kitchen.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Better check out the kitchen, then.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42Mm, it's quite spacious.

0:11:42 > 0:11:46Yeah, you have to cook and interact and keep an eye on the kids.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49This meets my expectations of what we were looking for.

0:11:49 > 0:11:53The only thing I'm disappointed about is like the outlook,

0:11:53 > 0:11:56like, I suppose in an ideal world that would be the garden there

0:11:56 > 0:11:58- and... - It's give and take, isn't it,

0:11:58 > 0:12:00with the amount of light that you get through.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02Not a great start for these two.

0:12:02 > 0:12:05Let's see what they make of the bedrooms.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07Ah, nice. Carpet.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10- Yes.- And it's very spongy. - Good size.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13- Bigger than ours.- Bigger than ours. - Which is good.- Yeah.

0:12:13 > 0:12:17OK, I sense a "but" coming.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20I think just being on the ground floor with the bedroom

0:12:20 > 0:12:24and having big windows, it feels quite exposed.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27Yes, but what's the redeeming feature of an Aussie home?

0:12:27 > 0:12:31- Walk-in wardrobe.- Nice!- It's about the same size as our third bedroom.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33- Yeah!- It's literally just really open.

0:12:33 > 0:12:36If it was a mess, it would make me feel really uncomfortable.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38Good reason to keep it tidy, Selina!

0:12:38 > 0:12:42Take a peek at the en-suite, at least it's got a door.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44Oh, cool, en-suite as well.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47Yeah, very nicely done.

0:12:47 > 0:12:49It's a good size, everything you need, so, yeah,

0:12:49 > 0:12:51another box ticked really.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Alanna's being looked after by a child-minder

0:12:54 > 0:12:57but her room gets the thumbs-up too.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Nice little room, good size for Alanna.

0:13:00 > 0:13:04- Then you've got a built-in wardrobe here.- That's really good.

0:13:04 > 0:13:06She'd just play hide-and-seek in there.

0:13:06 > 0:13:11It's sounding rather positive and the outside impresses too.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13Ah, it's quite nice.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16- Natural grass as well which is a bonus.- Yeah.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18It goes all the way around here,

0:13:18 > 0:13:20so, that's quite a fair amount of land.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22It's a bit of a blank canvas.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25If you wanted to have an extension or even a pool,

0:13:25 > 0:13:27you could possibly put one in.

0:13:27 > 0:13:30Yeah, very happy with this.

0:13:30 > 0:13:35This property has grown on them, but not sure if it's their dream home.

0:13:35 > 0:13:39- OK, what do you think?- It's done to a really high standard.

0:13:39 > 0:13:40I actually really like it

0:13:40 > 0:13:45but I don't know whether I would spend 300 grand on it.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48- I think this house is probably under our budget.- Mm-hm.

0:13:48 > 0:13:55Um, I reckon it's on the market for around £250,000.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58I reckon £265,000.

0:13:58 > 0:13:59Let's have a look.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02They have £300,000 to spend.

0:14:05 > 0:14:07Oh, that's more than I thought.

0:14:07 > 0:14:11- Yeah, slightly disappointed with the figure.- Hm.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13It's a bit of a worry in terms of our budget.

0:14:13 > 0:14:17Yeah, it will be interesting to see how the other two properties fare.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20It's £14,000 under budget

0:14:20 > 0:14:22but the Taylors were hoping they'd get

0:14:22 > 0:14:26a fair bit more bang for their bucks this far out of town.

0:14:26 > 0:14:27Perhaps property number two

0:14:27 > 0:14:31can get things moving in the right direction.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34It's in Werribee, an older and more established area.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37The couple should get more for their money here.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40Will this single-storey three-bedroom family home

0:14:40 > 0:14:42be more to their liking?

0:14:42 > 0:14:46Inside, and Selina's face says it all.

0:14:46 > 0:14:48- First impressions? - I really don't like it.

0:14:48 > 0:14:51It reminds me quite a lot of when we first moved into our house

0:14:51 > 0:14:53and all the work we had to do,

0:14:53 > 0:14:56and I don't feel like we're in a position to do that now with Alanna.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58We don't have that luxury of time.

0:14:58 > 0:15:01Yeah, I think it would be difficult to do.

0:15:01 > 0:15:05What about the open-plan kitchen?

0:15:05 > 0:15:06Small.

0:15:06 > 0:15:12This isn't open-plan to me, this is just like a kitchen with a table.

0:15:12 > 0:15:17Oh, dear, and they don't have to move far to get to the main bedroom,

0:15:17 > 0:15:18it's right next to the front door.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22OK, looks like the main bedroom.

0:15:22 > 0:15:23OK.

0:15:23 > 0:15:27- I'll be positive.- OK.- It's big. - It is big.- Lots of storage.- Yeah.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30Hate the fact it's right at the front of the house.

0:15:30 > 0:15:34I like to open the curtains and let all the light in,

0:15:34 > 0:15:36but you just couldn't do it, could you?

0:15:36 > 0:15:40Because you'd just be scared of the postie looking in.

0:15:40 > 0:15:44This house is a big no-no for both Rob and Selina.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47Nothing can redeem it or...wait.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49They've just spotted the outside.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51- It's huge. - Yeah, it's massive, isn't it?

0:15:51 > 0:15:54This I can see potential with.

0:15:54 > 0:15:55The only thing that would concern me,

0:15:55 > 0:15:57yeah, you're massively overlooked there.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00We have said, though, that moving to Australia

0:16:00 > 0:16:03is all about enjoying the outdoor lifestyle, so...

0:16:03 > 0:16:08Could you enjoy it by being overlooked by kind of all of that?

0:16:08 > 0:16:09Because I don't think I could.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12You could put screening up, you could plant bamboo trees.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15- But... - How much would all of it cost?

0:16:15 > 0:16:17It would cost a fortune to do this.

0:16:17 > 0:16:20And would this house even be worth it?

0:16:20 > 0:16:23It's time to see how much it is.

0:16:24 > 0:16:25It's too much work.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29It's just not worth the effort for me.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32Remember, they have £300,000 to spend.

0:16:32 > 0:16:37I'm going to say £240,000.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40I'm going to say £250,000.

0:16:40 > 0:16:41OK, let's have a look.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51- Whoa.- Yeah, didn't expect that.

0:16:51 > 0:16:55So, that shows that if we want a property with a big garden,

0:16:55 > 0:16:56which is quite rare,

0:16:56 > 0:16:59we're going to have to pay big bucks for it, really.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01I think the first property we looked at was probably

0:17:01 > 0:17:03- just the right amount. - That was ample.

0:17:03 > 0:17:06- The good news is it's still under budget, though.- Still under budget,

0:17:06 > 0:17:08we're still positive that we'd be able to

0:17:08 > 0:17:12find not exactly what we're looking for, but something...

0:17:12 > 0:17:14- Within budget.- Yeah, within budget

0:17:14 > 0:17:16and a lot closer for what we're looking for.

0:17:19 > 0:17:20Disappointing.

0:17:20 > 0:17:22Rob is desperately hanging in there,

0:17:22 > 0:17:24but his chances of winning Selina over

0:17:24 > 0:17:26are getting slimmer by the minute.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29For the final stop of the day,

0:17:29 > 0:17:32we found what we think could be the couple's dream home.

0:17:32 > 0:17:36It's in Tarneit, 15 minutes away and closer to Melbourne.

0:17:36 > 0:17:42Will this two-storey new-build be what Rob and Selina are looking for?

0:17:42 > 0:17:44I'm really happy it's two-storeys.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46It's definitely what we would have chosen.

0:17:46 > 0:17:48- If we could afford it.- Yeah.

0:17:48 > 0:17:51Hey! And things, like Selina and Rob, are looking up,

0:17:51 > 0:17:54and that continues once over the threshold.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56Wow!

0:17:56 > 0:17:58This is like a hotel, a hotel entrance hall.

0:17:58 > 0:18:01It's very impressive, isn't it?

0:18:01 > 0:18:05Think of how much time you'd have to spend cleaning!

0:18:06 > 0:18:08It's definitely a dream house.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10It almost feels too good to be true.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12And it doesn't stop there.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15- It gets bigger. - That is huge, isn't it?

0:18:15 > 0:18:22This is definitely the dream, like, kitchen, dining, living, everything.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25Feels like an American movie star's home.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28Yeah, it's very grand.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30Now, into the adults' den.

0:18:30 > 0:18:35- There's a bar. - This is adults' area, definitely.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39I love it, but I'm worried it would be a novelty

0:18:39 > 0:18:41- and then, say, if you were working away or something.- Yeah,

0:18:41 > 0:18:44- it'd get a bit too much.- It would actually feel very lonely.- Yeah,

0:18:44 > 0:18:47I know what you're saying. I think it will reflect the price as well.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49From one extreme to another,

0:18:49 > 0:18:52maybe this grand property is just too much.

0:18:52 > 0:18:54Wow, look at the size of this.

0:18:54 > 0:18:55Massive, again.

0:18:55 > 0:18:59It's impressive but, I don't know, is it too big?

0:18:59 > 0:19:01I think it is. It's more space than you actually need.

0:19:01 > 0:19:06Yeah, it's almost too grand for us.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08But it's hard not to be impressed.

0:19:08 > 0:19:13- Ah, walk-in wardrobe.- It's almost like partitioned off out of the way.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16- Screened off, yeah.- Rather than with the first house, where it was open,

0:19:16 > 0:19:18but, no, good.

0:19:18 > 0:19:19And impressed?

0:19:19 > 0:19:21Again, very impressive.

0:19:21 > 0:19:23This is bigger than our bathroom.

0:19:23 > 0:19:25- Yeah.- His-and-hers sinks.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28It's got everything that you'd want.

0:19:28 > 0:19:29It's nice to have separate sinks.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31True.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33Alanna's room impresses too.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36I think this is definitely a girl's bedroom, what do you think?

0:19:36 > 0:19:39Yeah, I think this would be Alanna Banana's bedroom!

0:19:39 > 0:19:44Ah, it's a really good space and she'd absolutely love it.

0:19:44 > 0:19:46- Good room, good size. - Yeah, I like it.

0:19:46 > 0:19:51And outside continues to delight as it comes with extra features.

0:19:51 > 0:19:55There's a pool, there's a pool, and a dog!

0:19:55 > 0:19:57- That's very cool.- That's impressive.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59What a great little space.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02Alanna would love this.

0:20:02 > 0:20:05I think this would be kind of our Australian dream,

0:20:05 > 0:20:09- being out here by the pool, barbecue, a bit of vino.- Mm.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13So, some glimmers of hope there

0:20:13 > 0:20:16but will it be too much for their budget?

0:20:18 > 0:20:20So, what do you think?

0:20:20 > 0:20:22I think it is going to be way over budget.

0:20:22 > 0:20:25- I think it's about £450,000.- Yeah, it's going to be hugely over-budget.

0:20:25 > 0:20:31- I would guess in the region of about £465,000 on the market.- Mm-hm.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34- Right, you ready to have a look? - Yep.

0:20:34 > 0:20:36They have £300,000.

0:20:41 > 0:20:45Oh! OK, wow.

0:20:45 > 0:20:50That's amazing that just for £90,000 more, just...

0:20:50 > 0:20:54It's a lot more, but what you can get is quite incredible.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57- And the pool as well. - Yeah.- With the garden.

0:20:57 > 0:20:59- Definitely.- So...

0:20:59 > 0:21:00Good news.

0:21:02 > 0:21:05A day's house-hunting has given the Taylors a real idea

0:21:05 > 0:21:08of what they can and can't afford in Melbourne.

0:21:09 > 0:21:12Property one was a positive start,

0:21:12 > 0:21:15the outside impressed but it was far from a dream home.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19House number two was a single-storey property

0:21:19 > 0:21:21in a more established part of Melbourne,

0:21:21 > 0:21:25and the couple found its old-fashioned feel off-putting.

0:21:25 > 0:21:30Despite being over budget, property three did lift spirits.

0:21:30 > 0:21:32This two-storey house with outdoor pool

0:21:32 > 0:21:35was more like what they imagined living down under to be.

0:21:37 > 0:21:39So, when it comes to property in Melbourne,

0:21:39 > 0:21:42will the couple vote for the UK or Australia?

0:21:42 > 0:21:46Based on the three properties we've seen today, our vote goes to...

0:21:58 > 0:22:01- Australia! - ..Australia!

0:22:01 > 0:22:02Cool.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04To be honest, when we were at the second property,

0:22:04 > 0:22:06at that point I was thinking UK, but then we saw the third property

0:22:06 > 0:22:09and that definitely tipped the balance for me

0:22:09 > 0:22:13as it was only £90,000 more, I just thought to have something like this

0:22:13 > 0:22:15in years to come would just be amazing.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18Happy that you've voted the same as me.

0:22:18 > 0:22:20- I thought you would be.- Yeah.

0:22:26 > 0:22:29With Selina giving the thumbs-up for Aussie houses,

0:22:29 > 0:22:32Rob's dream move is off to a good start.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34But unless they get the right jobs down under,

0:22:34 > 0:22:36they'll be going nowhere.

0:22:38 > 0:22:41Selina's the main visa applicant.

0:22:41 > 0:22:44Back in the UK, she works in public health marketing.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47I'm really passionate about what I do.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50I love the fact that what I do delivers positive change

0:22:50 > 0:22:52and helps people improve their lives.

0:22:53 > 0:22:56However, her dream job has its downside.

0:22:56 > 0:23:00It has meant that I've had to take on a full-time post

0:23:00 > 0:23:04which, with Alanna only being 21 months, has been really difficult.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06I don't get much time with Rob,

0:23:06 > 0:23:09I don't get much time with Alanna and it has put pressure on us.

0:23:09 > 0:23:12Since his injury, Rob has mixed being a stay-at-home dad

0:23:12 > 0:23:16with building a new career as a football coach.

0:23:16 > 0:23:18Put some more water in?

0:23:18 > 0:23:22Being at home with Alanna has been, you know, an amazing experience,

0:23:22 > 0:23:26and I think it's something that some dads aren't lucky enough to do.

0:23:26 > 0:23:30Rob wants to coach footy down under and the timing might just be right.

0:23:30 > 0:23:34In Australia at the moment, I know they're chucking a lot of resources

0:23:34 > 0:23:37into making them world-beaters at football

0:23:37 > 0:23:41and they've got a 20-year plan called The Whole Of Football,

0:23:41 > 0:23:44you know, and that's something that interests me

0:23:44 > 0:23:46and something that I would love to be a part of.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49I'm just hoping those opportunities are out there

0:23:49 > 0:23:51and I can find the right job for me.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54Earning over £45,000 in the UK,

0:23:54 > 0:23:59Selina's currently the main breadwinner - for now.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02The long-term plan, if we were to go to Australia, would be that

0:24:02 > 0:24:06I could take a step back and go part-time

0:24:06 > 0:24:09and, hopefully, when Rob starts his career,

0:24:09 > 0:24:12he'd be able to top up that salary anyway.

0:24:13 > 0:24:17To find out what opportunities they might have in Melbourne,

0:24:17 > 0:24:19the couple head into town,

0:24:19 > 0:24:21Selina to a leading recruitment agency

0:24:21 > 0:24:24where she meets consultant Lindsay Walker

0:24:24 > 0:24:27and right away there's mixed news.

0:24:27 > 0:24:30I have some good news and some not so good news at this point in time.

0:24:30 > 0:24:33At the moment, marketing is not currently on the list

0:24:33 > 0:24:35for people applying for permanent residency.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38The good news is, with your experience,

0:24:38 > 0:24:42- you do actually qualify for a work visa for Australia.- Oh, OK.

0:24:42 > 0:24:44We always recommend you speak to an immigration lawyer

0:24:44 > 0:24:45before you decide to, you know,

0:24:45 > 0:24:47make your final decision about moving out.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50Having looked at your CV, I think it's more than likely

0:24:50 > 0:24:52- you would be able to look for work here.- Great.

0:24:52 > 0:24:54Well, that's a relief.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57But Selina's keen to have work and family life sorted

0:24:57 > 0:24:59before she would make the move.

0:24:59 > 0:25:02Alanna, our little girl, is still quite young

0:25:02 > 0:25:05and, ideally, in the future we'll have another baby,

0:25:05 > 0:25:07so, I was just wondering about flexibility

0:25:07 > 0:25:10and whether I could possibly look at an opportunity

0:25:10 > 0:25:11where I could be part-time?

0:25:11 > 0:25:14You'll find that health and government within Australia

0:25:14 > 0:25:16are probably leading the way in terms of

0:25:16 > 0:25:18how much flexibility they can offer you.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22We see a lot of people go into roles four days a week instead of five,

0:25:22 > 0:25:23who are perhaps qualified to do so.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25It's really good to hear that.

0:25:25 > 0:25:28So, the big question is, based on my experience,

0:25:28 > 0:25:31what kind of salary would I be looking at in Australia?

0:25:31 > 0:25:34The bottom of that range, based on your experience,

0:25:34 > 0:25:36would be around £60,000 per year

0:25:36 > 0:25:39and the top range of that would probably be around £80,000 per year.

0:25:39 > 0:25:43- OK.- And that would be inclusive of all your benefits in Australia.

0:25:43 > 0:25:45Fantastic, that's really good.

0:25:45 > 0:25:48Selina's heard mostly positive news.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51Wonder how Rob is getting on across town?

0:25:51 > 0:25:55He's at Rowville Sports Academy and is meeting coach Ian Greener.

0:25:55 > 0:25:57Come this way, we'll have a chat.

0:25:57 > 0:26:01And straightaway, it seems like good news.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04Football has now become the number one participation sport

0:26:04 > 0:26:09within Australia. Not just with the boys, but the girls' football now.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12So, looking at your CV, a lot of our clubs would be very keen

0:26:12 > 0:26:16to talk to somebody with your kind of background and experience.

0:26:16 > 0:26:20So, could Rob achieve his Australian dream?

0:26:20 > 0:26:23With a CV like mine and my experience,

0:26:23 > 0:26:25what kind of salary could I earn over here?

0:26:25 > 0:26:28If your CV came across my desk and there was an opportunity

0:26:28 > 0:26:31to employ somebody, it would be on a part-time basis.

0:26:31 > 0:26:35Initially, you'd be looking at a salary around about £20,000 a year.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38Oh, that's not really going to cut it

0:26:38 > 0:26:40if Selina's going part-time as well.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43What about senior paid positions?

0:26:43 > 0:26:46So, clubs have always just had a head coach,

0:26:46 > 0:26:49but now they're being told they have to have a technical director,

0:26:49 > 0:26:55so, what that's done is it's brought in more job opportunities

0:26:55 > 0:26:58for people. You'd be looking at, I'd say, somewhere between

0:26:58 > 0:27:02about £70,000 a year, plus perks and bonuses.

0:27:02 > 0:27:07So, further down the line there could be a move up the pay league.

0:27:07 > 0:27:09That's a really good figure,

0:27:09 > 0:27:12something definitely to work hard towards and aspire to

0:27:12 > 0:27:16and it's something that I really want to do.

0:27:16 > 0:27:17Might see you in a few months.

0:27:17 > 0:27:20- Rob, good luck.- It was great to me. - No problems, a pleasure.- Cheers.

0:27:20 > 0:27:23So, mixed news for Rob as well.

0:27:23 > 0:27:26Later on, the couple meet up to compare notes.

0:27:28 > 0:27:32- So, how did it go?- Visas have got a lot stricter just recently,

0:27:32 > 0:27:36- and marketing has come off of that list.- Right.

0:27:36 > 0:27:40So, in order to get into Australia, I'd have to go through a work visa.

0:27:40 > 0:27:44The positive news was that kind of health marketing

0:27:44 > 0:27:48and behaviour change marketing is still very much kind of wanted.

0:27:48 > 0:27:51And then, in terms of salary,

0:27:51 > 0:27:55I'd be looking in the region of starting at about 60,000.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58- OK.- Going up to possibly 80.

0:27:58 > 0:28:03- Oh, OK, good.- So, we just need to marry that up with obviously

0:28:03 > 0:28:06you kind of having those opportunities secured as well.

0:28:06 > 0:28:09In terms of job opportunities, I feel quite positive about it all,

0:28:09 > 0:28:12especially going forward for the future.

0:28:12 > 0:28:17But I was disappointed that there'd be no full-time roles available

0:28:17 > 0:28:19to come out to.

0:28:19 > 0:28:22Considering the cost of living over here is a lot more as well,

0:28:22 > 0:28:25that does concern me a bit, yeah.

0:28:25 > 0:28:28- Because the last thing I want to do is put all the pressure on you.- Mm.

0:28:28 > 0:28:30I don't think that's fair.

0:28:30 > 0:28:34You sense Rob really, really wants this to work for him

0:28:34 > 0:28:37but the time has come to vote.

0:28:37 > 0:28:41Based on our work meetings today, our vote goes to...

0:28:51 > 0:28:53- ..undecided. - Undecided.

0:28:53 > 0:28:55- We agree on that. - Yeah.

0:28:55 > 0:28:58Slightly surprised you voted undecided,

0:28:58 > 0:29:01just because I know how much, you know, you want to come here.

0:29:01 > 0:29:05- I don't see how we could have voted Australia...- No.- ..completely,

0:29:05 > 0:29:07- with the news that we've had today. - Yeah.

0:29:07 > 0:29:10It's been such a mixed kind of bag of emotions today.

0:29:17 > 0:29:20It was always on the cards,

0:29:20 > 0:29:24Rob needed a good salary for the Australian dream to thrive.

0:29:24 > 0:29:27This uncertainty with work, for both of them,

0:29:27 > 0:29:31has knocked them sideways in more ways than one and,

0:29:31 > 0:29:36with the reality check and friends and family messages still to come,

0:29:36 > 0:29:40Rob's dream of a fresh start down under looks unlikely.

0:29:40 > 0:29:44But, there is still time to turn it around.

0:29:44 > 0:29:48With baby in buggy, the couple head off to sample

0:29:48 > 0:29:50family life in downtown Melbourne.

0:29:51 > 0:29:55The Taylors are spending the day at Werribee Open Range Zoo,

0:29:55 > 0:29:57south west of Melbourne.

0:29:57 > 0:29:59Ali absolutely loves animals, so,

0:29:59 > 0:30:01I'm sure we're going to have a great time.

0:30:03 > 0:30:05Ready, whoosh!

0:30:05 > 0:30:08Hi, emu! Oh, he's looking, he's looking at you.

0:30:08 > 0:30:10ALANNA MUMBLES

0:30:10 > 0:30:12- Koala! - Koala.

0:30:12 > 0:30:13Hi.

0:30:13 > 0:30:17Hiya both, give them a wave, give them a wave.

0:30:18 > 0:30:22Really good to spend quality time together for a change.

0:30:23 > 0:30:28I don't think we've ever been to a safari park zoo as good as this.

0:30:28 > 0:30:31It's just been one of those amazing experiences

0:30:31 > 0:30:34and one we definitely wouldn't have got back in the UK.

0:30:34 > 0:30:35Yummy!

0:30:38 > 0:30:40Ugh, thirsty work!

0:30:40 > 0:30:42So, while Alanna's out for the count,

0:30:42 > 0:30:44the couple have time to grab a coffee,

0:30:44 > 0:30:47but there's a nice surprise in store when the phone rings.

0:30:48 > 0:30:51It's Selina's sister and brother-in-law.

0:30:51 > 0:30:53- Hi.- Hi, guys.

0:30:53 > 0:30:56- How's Alanna?- Yeah, she's been really good today.- Amazing.

0:30:56 > 0:30:59We've been to the open safari, so, we've fed...

0:30:59 > 0:31:01- Giraffes.- ..giraffes carrots,

0:31:01 > 0:31:05- and seen rhinos, like, really up close.- Yeah.

0:31:05 > 0:31:08The family are thinking of you, Mum sends her love.

0:31:08 > 0:31:11- Really good to speak to you.- Yeah, thanks for getting up at like 6am!

0:31:11 > 0:31:14Stu, I know it probably took you two hours to get ready!

0:31:15 > 0:31:18- Bye-bye. Bye!- Bye!

0:31:19 > 0:31:22- Well...- That was a surprise. - Yeah.

0:31:22 > 0:31:25I always knew this decision was going to be really hard.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28You're not going to take it lightly when you've got to move

0:31:28 > 0:31:3024 hours-plus across the world,

0:31:30 > 0:31:34tearing, you know, your daughter away from close family and friends.

0:31:36 > 0:31:41And the news about Rob's part-time salary is making it even harder.

0:31:41 > 0:31:45That was a blow and I think both of us were disappointed in that

0:31:45 > 0:31:48and that's probably... You could tell that through the vote.

0:31:48 > 0:31:51Part of the dream is so that I can go back part-time

0:31:51 > 0:31:53and be able to spend more time with Alanna.

0:31:53 > 0:31:59So, at the moment I feel very torn about the whole decision.

0:31:59 > 0:32:03But Rob's hoping today will get things back on track.

0:32:03 > 0:32:06I hope it's brought us back to a place where we both think

0:32:06 > 0:32:08that Australia's worth all the effort

0:32:08 > 0:32:10and yeah, fighting for, really.

0:32:10 > 0:32:14Hm, time to find out.

0:32:14 > 0:32:17Based on our amazing family day out today, our vote goes to...

0:32:27 > 0:32:29- Australia! - ..Australia!

0:32:29 > 0:32:32It was just such a good day.

0:32:32 > 0:32:34You don't go and feed giraffes every day.

0:32:34 > 0:32:37You know, yesterday, I think we finished on a bit of a downer.

0:32:37 > 0:32:38It's just brought it all back to life.

0:32:38 > 0:32:42- I don't think we could have voted any other way, really.- No, agreed.

0:32:48 > 0:32:52Full marks for the Aussie lifestyle means Rob's hopes

0:32:52 > 0:32:55for a fresh start down under could be back on track,

0:32:55 > 0:32:59but they still need to work out if they could afford the move.

0:32:59 > 0:33:02Getting the right price for their home in the UK would be crucial.

0:33:02 > 0:33:08They think it's worth £200,000. Will two local estate agents agree?

0:33:09 > 0:33:12A lovely, light living room.

0:33:12 > 0:33:15Utilised the space very, very well.

0:33:15 > 0:33:19Dining area, feature fireplace, super family room.

0:33:21 > 0:33:25A very nice, well-presented kitchen, with lots of modern fitments,

0:33:25 > 0:33:27integrated oven and hob.

0:33:27 > 0:33:31We've got a lovely breakfast bar as well for seating there.

0:33:31 > 0:33:33- It's very clean. - Very well-presented.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37Lovely master bedroom.

0:33:37 > 0:33:41Super views to the rear, well-appointed.

0:33:41 > 0:33:42I told you about the views.

0:33:44 > 0:33:47Quite a pleasant little children's room here.

0:33:47 > 0:33:49Obviously a little girl's room.

0:33:49 > 0:33:53A bunk bed here as well, ideal for when they've got friends over.

0:33:53 > 0:33:55- Very small friends! - THEY CHUCKLE

0:33:55 > 0:33:59In today's market, I would value this property at £200,000.

0:33:59 > 0:34:03For a quick sale, I would put it on the market for £195,000.

0:34:03 > 0:34:07I would value this property at £195,000.

0:34:07 > 0:34:12For a quick sale, I would value this property at £190,000.

0:34:12 > 0:34:14What do you think about the actual price, though?

0:34:14 > 0:34:16I think we'd be quite happy with that.

0:34:16 > 0:34:18Yeah, with the money that we spent on it,

0:34:18 > 0:34:21we'd still make a good profit on that, so.

0:34:22 > 0:34:26So, a happy result for the Taylors.

0:34:26 > 0:34:30While Alanna takes a nap, the couple sit down to crunch figures.

0:34:30 > 0:34:33To help, we've provided a breakdown of living expenses,

0:34:33 > 0:34:35starting with their weekly shop.

0:34:35 > 0:34:38Bananas, Alanna Banana's favourite...

0:34:38 > 0:34:41They're nearly double the price over here.

0:34:41 > 0:34:44What about cheese? OK, slightly cheaper.

0:34:44 > 0:34:46- That's good.- Suits me.

0:34:46 > 0:34:52So, we've got rump steak, it's coming out at, yeah, almost double.

0:34:52 > 0:34:55I mean, generally it's, everything is more.

0:34:55 > 0:34:59Yeah, what, three or four items coming out less.

0:34:59 > 0:35:02Totting it up, the couple discover they would be paying

0:35:02 > 0:35:06almost two-thirds more for food in Oz per week.

0:35:06 > 0:35:09- That's a big jump, isn't it? - It's quite substantial, yeah.

0:35:09 > 0:35:11So, what's that, around £160?

0:35:11 > 0:35:12Yep.

0:35:12 > 0:35:16Next, they look at mortgage costs, basing their figures

0:35:16 > 0:35:18on the first house they saw.

0:35:18 > 0:35:21- Currently, in the UK, it's £770. - Yep.

0:35:21 > 0:35:25If we were to move over to Australia, we're looking at 1,062.

0:35:25 > 0:35:28- So, that's worse off. - Worse off.

0:35:28 > 0:35:32- Nearly £3,500 a year, isn't it? - Yeah.

0:35:32 > 0:35:36It's quite a hike and with Rob a stay-at-home dad in the UK,

0:35:36 > 0:35:40they have no childcare costs, but that would change in Oz.

0:35:40 > 0:35:47Our nursery costs in Australia would cost us £1,375 per month.

0:35:47 > 0:35:49Wow, that's, that's a lot.

0:35:49 > 0:35:52Oh, children are so expensive.

0:35:53 > 0:35:56- Do we really want another one? - Yeah, that's made me rethink!

0:35:56 > 0:35:59Let's not make any quick decisions yet.

0:35:59 > 0:36:02Things may not be looking good

0:36:02 > 0:36:06but Selina could significantly increase her earnings down under.

0:36:06 > 0:36:08And with plenty of part-time jobs around,

0:36:08 > 0:36:11if Rob was to take on two at a time,

0:36:11 > 0:36:13he could bring home a full wage.

0:36:15 > 0:36:17We would be bringing in...

0:36:17 > 0:36:22- £4,033 more a month... - Wow.

0:36:22 > 0:36:24..which is a crazy amount.

0:36:24 > 0:36:27Wow, that is super-impressive.

0:36:27 > 0:36:31So, where does this leave them overall?

0:36:31 > 0:36:37- £2,198 a month.- Better off if we were to move over here.

0:36:37 > 0:36:40That's, that's awesome.

0:36:40 > 0:36:43It's what would, you know, help us to kind of have the lifestyle

0:36:43 > 0:36:45we want over here as well.

0:36:45 > 0:36:49Maybe that massive house could be on the cards!

0:36:49 > 0:36:52- Although not with the dog! - No.

0:36:52 > 0:36:56So, after that news, how will they vote?

0:36:56 > 0:37:00Based on our reality check today, our vote goes to...

0:37:07 > 0:37:09- ..Australia! - Australia!

0:37:09 > 0:37:11- Had to, really. - Yeah.

0:37:11 > 0:37:14Fantastic news, in terms of the figures.

0:37:14 > 0:37:17Didn't think it was going to be that good, so, really happy.

0:37:17 > 0:37:21That was a crazy amount of money to have at the end of the month.

0:37:21 > 0:37:24It might just take a bit of hard work to get there

0:37:24 > 0:37:27but, yeah, just really excited.

0:37:31 > 0:37:34With Selina's financial fears finally put to rest,

0:37:34 > 0:37:38it looks like Rob's mission is almost home and dry.

0:37:38 > 0:37:41There's still one final hurdle to overcome, though,

0:37:41 > 0:37:45as the couple sit down to watch messages from loved ones back home.

0:37:45 > 0:37:47- Hi!- Hi!

0:37:47 > 0:37:48Hi, guys.

0:37:48 > 0:37:51So, Rob and Selina and Ali, they're a great family,

0:37:51 > 0:37:52they really are. I think Ali coming along's

0:37:52 > 0:37:54been a bit of a blessing for them.

0:37:54 > 0:37:55Yeah, Rob's my number one son.

0:37:55 > 0:37:58- Ha-ha.- Yes!

0:37:58 > 0:38:02Selina's a great daughter, she's very caring, very loving.

0:38:02 > 0:38:05When I first realised Selina was serious about potentially moving,

0:38:05 > 0:38:07I actually was quite jealous because I think it's something

0:38:07 > 0:38:09that we probably all would like to do.

0:38:09 > 0:38:14If they go, I would be going right up to the plane doors if I could,

0:38:14 > 0:38:16to give them hugs and kisses.

0:38:16 > 0:38:20But if they do go, they will go with my blessings and my prayers.

0:38:20 > 0:38:23I support Manchester United because of Rob.

0:38:23 > 0:38:25I've got all those little memories

0:38:25 > 0:38:28and he just won't be there any more.

0:38:29 > 0:38:32It will be really sad thinking of them leaving,

0:38:32 > 0:38:33especially with the children.

0:38:33 > 0:38:36They're really, really close and love to play together.

0:38:36 > 0:38:39I couldn't even describe it because at the moment

0:38:39 > 0:38:42I suppose I can't really quite imagine how it would feel.

0:38:42 > 0:38:43If they were to move,

0:38:43 > 0:38:48I've got very attached to Rob, maybe too much, maybe too much.

0:38:48 > 0:38:52But, um... I would miss him, yes.

0:38:52 > 0:38:55You're about to make one of the biggest decisions of your life.

0:38:55 > 0:38:57Rob, I know you've always been pretty poor at making decisions

0:38:57 > 0:38:59so I'd probably let Selina make this one.

0:38:59 > 0:39:02Give it a bit of a shot and see what happens.

0:39:02 > 0:39:06If you do go, I wish you all the best and you'll have all my love.

0:39:06 > 0:39:10We're here for you and always will be.

0:39:10 > 0:39:12SHE SOBS

0:39:13 > 0:39:15I can't wait to see you come back home.

0:39:16 > 0:39:19Please don't think of us, don't think of the family,

0:39:19 > 0:39:24think of yourselves and do what's right for the three of you,

0:39:24 > 0:39:26and I love you all very, very much.

0:39:30 > 0:39:33- Tough! - THEY EXHALE

0:39:33 > 0:39:36- It's not even about us, it's about Alanna.- I was thinking that.

0:39:36 > 0:39:40It is pretty hard to think that they won't see her growing up

0:39:40 > 0:39:45and she won't know them, like she would as if we were back home.

0:39:45 > 0:39:50But, do you really want to be five, ten years down the line

0:39:50 > 0:39:53- and think, I really wish we'd have given it a go?- Mm.

0:39:59 > 0:40:03They weren't expecting them but the tears came anyhow.

0:40:03 > 0:40:08Selina and Rob have been on an emotional roller-coaster.

0:40:08 > 0:40:10After hearing the family messages,

0:40:10 > 0:40:14it's going to be tough to get the dream back on track.

0:40:14 > 0:40:17They've enjoyed the week in Australia

0:40:17 > 0:40:21but are they kidding themselves they could ever call it their home?

0:40:21 > 0:40:24A hard one to call. What would you do?

0:40:24 > 0:40:27It's time for the final vote.

0:40:30 > 0:40:33The trial week has seen Australia work its charms

0:40:33 > 0:40:35on Selina once again.

0:40:35 > 0:40:38It's a third time for me but first time, you know, as a mother,

0:40:38 > 0:40:42and it's been so lovely to see Alanna just

0:40:42 > 0:40:45exploring the country, enjoying it.

0:40:47 > 0:40:50For Rob, it has answered lots of questions.

0:40:50 > 0:40:54This week was all about testing out the real Australia, I suppose,

0:40:54 > 0:40:58and today, kind of life, of what it would be like to live over here.

0:41:00 > 0:41:03But it has also brought home how hard it would be

0:41:03 > 0:41:05to leave loved ones behind.

0:41:05 > 0:41:08It's quite heart-wrenching kind of thinking about

0:41:08 > 0:41:11how it will feel for them, for family,

0:41:11 > 0:41:15for us to be kind of moving away to the other side of the world.

0:41:16 > 0:41:19They would miss us as much as we'd miss them.

0:41:19 > 0:41:23My grandad who I'm really close to, to see him get a bit emotional,

0:41:23 > 0:41:25I think that kind of kick-started me.

0:41:27 > 0:41:30And Rob knows Selina's still wrestling with the decision.

0:41:30 > 0:41:33I know that if we can make everything work

0:41:33 > 0:41:35it's more than feasible

0:41:35 > 0:41:40but there are still massive hurdles in kind of making that happen.

0:41:40 > 0:41:44I really do hope that Selina votes for Australia today.

0:41:44 > 0:41:46I'm hoping this week has shown her enough

0:41:46 > 0:41:48to take a little bit of a gamble.

0:41:50 > 0:41:54Oh, Selina, the pressure is on. It's time to vote.

0:41:54 > 0:41:58After our amazing week in Australia, our final vote goes to...

0:42:07 > 0:42:09- Australia! - ..Australia!

0:42:11 > 0:42:14- Cool. Good. Happy. - Very happy.

0:42:14 > 0:42:16Even though I've still got concerns and worries,

0:42:16 > 0:42:21overall, this country just outweighs all the negatives

0:42:21 > 0:42:25and I think we'd be fools not to kind of take the risk.

0:42:25 > 0:42:27It's just a case of working really hard,

0:42:27 > 0:42:29getting a little bit lucky

0:42:29 > 0:42:32and, yeah, giving it the best possible go we can.

0:42:32 > 0:42:35So, yeah, thank you for voting Australia.

0:42:35 > 0:42:37- Australia, here we come?- Yep.

0:42:42 > 0:42:44Ah, do you like Australia?

0:42:44 > 0:42:47Two yeses.

0:42:47 > 0:42:50It looks as if Rob's dream move to Australia

0:42:50 > 0:42:53is about to become a reality.

0:42:53 > 0:42:55This couple is under no illusion that a move

0:42:55 > 0:42:58to the other side of the world will be difficult.

0:42:58 > 0:43:01But with the commitment they show each other

0:43:01 > 0:43:05and their ultimate goal of a better future for the family,

0:43:05 > 0:43:08I'm sure they'll make their final decision work for them.

0:43:08 > 0:43:10But one thing's for sure,

0:43:10 > 0:43:15wherever they end up going, we wish them the very best.
