0:00:02 > 0:00:03With his fragile X syndrome,

0:00:03 > 0:00:06life is tough enough for little Albie Myburgh.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09Mum Jayne knows the warmth and outdoor lifestyle of Australia

0:00:09 > 0:00:11would help him thrive.

0:00:11 > 0:00:12- Jump!- Really good climbing.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15All the things you think he possibly might never have been able to do

0:00:15 > 0:00:18when you're first diagnosed are all things that we are

0:00:18 > 0:00:19now achieving with him.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22But South African born and bred husband Eugene

0:00:22 > 0:00:25needs more than a promise of sunshine to convince him.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27If the work is not going to fit, or the salary,

0:00:27 > 0:00:31then we're going to really have to see...

0:00:32 > 0:00:34..if this is the best option for us.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37A trial week in Brisbane would let the Myburghs

0:00:37 > 0:00:41experience the Gold Coast lifestyle that would greatly help their son.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44My heart just melts when I see it. I'm so proud of him.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47It's another thing that he unlocked.

0:00:47 > 0:00:49But is the cost of an emotional upheaval

0:00:49 > 0:00:51simply too high a price to pay?

0:01:14 > 0:01:17Straddling the Pacific, Indian and Southern oceans,

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Australia is known the world over for its spectacular coastline.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Boasting more than 10,000 beaches,

0:01:24 > 0:01:28over 85% of the population live within 30 miles of the sea,

0:01:28 > 0:01:32so it's no surprise the country remains the world's number one

0:01:32 > 0:01:36destination for British families seeking a new life in the sunshine.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44Albie Myburgh is the apple of his parents' eyes.

0:01:44 > 0:01:48He has a rare genetic disorder, fragile X,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50which causes developmental problems

0:01:50 > 0:01:54that Mum and Dad believe lessen in the warmth of the sun.

0:01:54 > 0:01:57To give him the best possible chance,

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Jayne is determined to take her young son to Australia,

0:02:00 > 0:02:04a place she's yearned to live for a long time.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06No stranger to hot climes himself,

0:02:06 > 0:02:10South African Eugene is well aware of his wife's dreams,

0:02:10 > 0:02:13but is fearful they'd be throwing away the network of support

0:02:13 > 0:02:16they currently have if they were to go.

0:02:16 > 0:02:21A week in the Brisbane sunshine will let them see if the benefits of

0:02:21 > 0:02:26the Australian lifestyle can make up for leaving family behind,

0:02:26 > 0:02:29before we ask them to make the life-defining decision

0:02:29 > 0:02:31as to where their future lies.

0:02:33 > 0:02:38The Myburghs' trial week begins with an eye-watering 23 hours

0:02:38 > 0:02:42getting from Heathrow to Brisbane, with a stopover in Abu Dhabi.

0:02:43 > 0:02:44As they touch down,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47it seems the long journey's been a bit of a breeze.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51The flight was great, actually.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53It was very long, but Albie was really well behaved,

0:02:53 > 0:02:56and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

0:02:56 > 0:02:57It was actually very, very good.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00After years of talking about it,

0:03:00 > 0:03:04Jayne is pinching herself to be on Aussie soil at last.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06In the run-up to coming to Australia,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09I have been really excited, but also really nervous as well.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11So, yeah, really mixed emotions.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13I'm hoping it's going to be everything I want it to be,

0:03:13 > 0:03:15but you never know.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18They've both got one clear goal in mind.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21It's all about Albie, you know,

0:03:21 > 0:03:25everything goes into Albie and it's got to suit him and his needs,

0:03:25 > 0:03:27otherwise it is not going to be worthwhile to...

0:03:27 > 0:03:30..to leave family and friends and to come out here,

0:03:30 > 0:03:32if it's not going to be right for him.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35So Australia really needs to match up to the sort of

0:03:35 > 0:03:38- support that we get back home. - I'm trying! I tried, I tried.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45We're here to experience and to see what's Australia about,

0:03:45 > 0:03:49and at the end, we want to make a decision that's right for the family.

0:03:49 > 0:03:51There we go! Well done, Albie.

0:03:52 > 0:03:53That's it.

0:03:55 > 0:03:56Meet the Myburghs.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58They live in Buckinghamshire, in the south of England.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03They're mum Jayne, dad Eugene,

0:04:03 > 0:04:05and Albie, aged seven.

0:04:06 > 0:04:08Jayne and Eugene met eight years ago

0:04:08 > 0:04:10at the wedding of a mutual friend in the UK.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15- And we started dating about a month...- Yeah.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17..six weeks after that?

0:04:17 > 0:04:19You pursued me via e-mail.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23A whirlwind romance followed,

0:04:23 > 0:04:26then Eugene's job took him back to South Africa.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29So I said, "Come for a holiday,"

0:04:29 > 0:04:33took her to all the nice places, and towards the end of the holiday,

0:04:33 > 0:04:38I asked her if she'd like to come and live in South Africa with me.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40The couple married and for a few years

0:04:40 > 0:04:43enjoyed an almost-idyllic life in South Africa.

0:04:43 > 0:04:48We had a great house with a swimming pool and a lapa,

0:04:48 > 0:04:53and we had a lot of space, and a nice big garden for the three dogs.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55But not everything in the garden was rosy.

0:04:56 > 0:05:01You are limited with safety over there, and the crime,

0:05:01 > 0:05:04so, as much as it's a great lifestyle there..

0:05:05 > 0:05:07..it comes at a cost.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10And when Albie was born in 2010,

0:05:10 > 0:05:13they felt it wasn't the right place to bring him up.

0:05:13 > 0:05:17I really pestered Eugene about moving back to the UK.

0:05:17 > 0:05:21Having lived in the UK before, I knew it just made sense.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24It's the better country to raise a family in.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28They settled back in England with a beautiful home and good jobs

0:05:28 > 0:05:31as a quantity surveyor and working part-time in a school,

0:05:31 > 0:05:33but Jayne found it hard to settle.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36I just constantly can't stop thinking about Australia.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39And although we have settled here and we are happy,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42we've got, you know, as I say, great family, great friends,

0:05:42 > 0:05:44there's just something missing,

0:05:44 > 0:05:47and for me it's that want of wanting to live in Australia.

0:05:47 > 0:05:52Eugene has been able to resist Jayne's efforts so far, but lately,

0:05:52 > 0:05:54he's been coming round to the idea.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56Why? In a word, Albie.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00How would you like to describe Albie?

0:06:00 > 0:06:05- Pure joy.- Yeah, amazing.- Pure joy. - He is just a wonderful child.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09But it wasn't long before Jayne and Eugene noticed things with Albie

0:06:09 > 0:06:11weren't as they should be.

0:06:11 > 0:06:12That is really good!

0:06:13 > 0:06:16We knew something was not quite right, because he wasn't reaching

0:06:16 > 0:06:19the milestones that a typical child should reach.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21So our paediatrician said,

0:06:21 > 0:06:24"Let's go down the genetic route and have a look at that."

0:06:24 > 0:06:27He was diagnosed with fragile X syndrome,

0:06:27 > 0:06:31a rare genetic disorder affecting one in 4,000 males in the UK

0:06:31 > 0:06:34and causing communication and behavioural issues.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40When Albie was diagnosed, it was one of the hardest days of my life.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44We weren't expecting to get the news that we got and...

0:06:46 > 0:06:49..to say it was devastating is an understatement.

0:06:51 > 0:06:56It was the worst day of my life, that, actually, when Jayne said...

0:06:56 > 0:06:58Yeah. I mean, it took...

0:06:58 > 0:07:00I cried solid for a couple of weeks.

0:07:00 > 0:07:04I...I just couldn't understand what it was,

0:07:04 > 0:07:06so then I was blaming myself.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09But, you know, there was nothing I could do about it.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11It's just, you know... It was out of my control.

0:07:12 > 0:07:16But we've just had to make the best of the situation.

0:07:16 > 0:07:20And we feel blessed with Albie, because he is a wonderful child.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22He is mildly affected.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25Even if you said to me now, "I could take that fragile X away,"

0:07:25 > 0:07:28he wouldn't be Albie. And he's my Albie,

0:07:28 > 0:07:30he's our Albie, and he's just amazing.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35His condition means he needs lots of physical activity

0:07:35 > 0:07:37to improve his muscle tone.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40Jayne is convinced Albie would benefit hugely from

0:07:40 > 0:07:43the lifestyle Australia can offer.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45I think it's the country for us,

0:07:45 > 0:07:48the country I want to bring Albie up in, and he can experience

0:07:48 > 0:07:52a wonderful outdoor lifestyle that his father had when he grew up.

0:07:52 > 0:07:56But the move would also mean sacrificing strong family support

0:07:56 > 0:07:58they have around them.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02My mum and dad mean everything to me.

0:08:02 > 0:08:04- And...- And me.- And you, yeah.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06They do so much for us.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08I couldn't imagine my life without my mum and dad...

0:08:10 > 0:08:11..and I don't want to.

0:08:12 > 0:08:15Australia will have to offer the right things

0:08:15 > 0:08:16for Eugene to make the move.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18It's got to make financial sense.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22At the moment, we've got a nice life over here.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24I don't want to take a step backwards.

0:08:24 > 0:08:26We would be risking a lot to move over there,

0:08:26 > 0:08:29but it's a risk that I think I'm willing to take.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31So, what is riding on this week?

0:08:31 > 0:08:34For me, my dream is riding on it.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36I've got to convince Eugene

0:08:36 > 0:08:39that it's the right thing to do for us as a family.

0:08:39 > 0:08:44If I can make Jayne happy and provide a better life for Albie,

0:08:44 > 0:08:47you know, I will grab it with both hands.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56For their trial week, the Myburghs are staying at Magnolia Manor,

0:08:56 > 0:08:5820 miles from the airport.

0:09:00 > 0:09:03It's dark as they arrive at their temporary home,

0:09:03 > 0:09:05but faces soon light up as they go through the door.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07Oh, my gosh.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10- Wow.- Look at this! Lounge, diner, kitchen.

0:09:10 > 0:09:12It's amazing.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15Albie wastes no time settling in.

0:09:17 > 0:09:18- Goodnight.- Goodnight.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21Although we're here and I'm happy to be here

0:09:21 > 0:09:24and everything looks nice, I'm just worried

0:09:24 > 0:09:28we might not get the answers we are actually looking for.

0:09:28 > 0:09:33I really, really want it to all work out, and if it doesn't,

0:09:33 > 0:09:35then I think I'll be heartbroken. But...

0:09:35 > 0:09:39- But for the family and for Albie, it has got to be right.- Yeah.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42Absolutely, yeah. It's got to be right, yes.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45Finding the right job with the right salary will be key

0:09:45 > 0:09:47if Eugene is to move.

0:09:47 > 0:09:51Obviously, I'm the main breadwinner, so, if the work is not going to fit,

0:09:51 > 0:09:55or the salary is not on the same level as I earn in the UK,

0:09:55 > 0:09:58then we're going to really have to see...

0:10:00 > 0:10:02..if this is the best option for us.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05I want it to go so well and if, at the end of the week,

0:10:05 > 0:10:08it's not going to work out, I shall be devastated.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11If it's Australia, it'll be all go Australia,

0:10:11 > 0:10:14or if the decision is we stay in the UK,

0:10:14 > 0:10:17then it's stay in the UK and that chapter is closed.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20Back in the UK, home for the Myburghs

0:10:20 > 0:10:22is a two-bedroom semi in a sought-after area

0:10:22 > 0:10:25of Buckinghamshire in the south of England.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27We love this house, but for me, it's just not big enough.

0:10:27 > 0:10:32I think Jayne got spoiled with the sizes of the houses in South Africa.

0:10:32 > 0:10:33- Yeah.- So...

0:10:34 > 0:10:39The couple have a generous budget of £550,000 for a home down under.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42I want modern, no work needing doing,

0:10:42 > 0:10:45open-plan, minimum three bedrooms,

0:10:45 > 0:10:46ideally four,

0:10:46 > 0:10:50a play area for Albie, so I can set up a sensory room for him.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52And location?

0:10:52 > 0:10:53We're a bit torn on this one,

0:10:53 > 0:10:56- cos Jayne would like to live close to the beach...- Yes.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58..whereas I would like to live more inland.

0:11:00 > 0:11:03There is one thing they're definitely agreed on.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05A must-have actually is a swimming pool.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10- Yeah, for Albie.- For Albie, for his sensory, for his swimming,

0:11:10 > 0:11:12for his muscle tone, and everything,

0:11:12 > 0:11:14so for me, that would be a must-have.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25To give the family an idea of what's available on the Brisbane property market,

0:11:25 > 0:11:28we've arranged for them to view three properties,

0:11:28 > 0:11:30two close to their budget

0:11:30 > 0:11:34and a third offering everything they're looking for in a dream home.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37The search begins in Coomera Waters,

0:11:37 > 0:11:41an up-and-coming area 40 miles south of Brisbane on the Gold Coast.

0:11:41 > 0:11:46Popular with families, it has lots of parks and a safe family feel.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50It's also just 20 minutes away from the beach.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53This is a lovely road, and it's a nice gated community.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55- It looks nice, doesn't it? - Oh, wow.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58And the positive vibe continues once through the front door.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03Oh, wow. This is lovely, isn't it?

0:12:03 > 0:12:05- Wow, yes.- Really bright.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07What do you think, Albie?

0:12:07 > 0:12:08Upstairs.

0:12:08 > 0:12:10It's lovely, isn't it?

0:12:10 > 0:12:12Mum and Dad are impressed with the kitchen

0:12:12 > 0:12:14as Albie explores upstairs.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17A nice kitchen-diner.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20- I like the island. - I love the island.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22- I've always wanted an island.- Yeah.

0:12:22 > 0:12:26This is nice, a nice entertaining area as well.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29And the wow factor keeps on coming.

0:12:29 > 0:12:30See how many rooms there are.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Oh, wow, this is a lovely room, a lovely bedroom.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38Oh, wow, look at the walk-in wardrobe!

0:12:38 > 0:12:40- Walk-in wardrobe.- This is amazing.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43- My shelf, the rest yours? - Yeah, possibly!

0:12:45 > 0:12:48Oh, wow, this is an amazing bathroom, and the shower...

0:12:48 > 0:12:51- Nice shower.- And look at that Jacuzzi bath.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54I could definitely live here, in this...even in this bathroom!

0:12:54 > 0:12:56- Nice and modern, yeah. - Yeah. I love it.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58This is another lovely bedroom.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01- Another decent-sized room. - Wow, this is a great size as well.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03This could be Albie's bedroom.

0:13:04 > 0:13:05- Nice.- Good size.

0:13:06 > 0:13:10It's a very happy couple that take to the balcony to reflect...

0:13:10 > 0:13:12Oh, wow, this is a lovely balcony.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14I could definitely use this.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16Sit here with a book and a drink.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18- I love it, it's a bonus, this is. - Yeah.

0:13:18 > 0:13:20..before heading outdoors

0:13:20 > 0:13:23to see the rainforest up close for themselves.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25It's a lovely area.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28- A barbecue.- You've got the outdoor kitchen area, your barbecue.

0:13:28 > 0:13:31Feel that heat. It's so nice.

0:13:31 > 0:13:32- A nice garden.- Wow.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34That would be great for Albie.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36- Oh, he'll love this. - It'd be really good for him,

0:13:36 > 0:13:39so we could definitely do swimming and practise his swimming in here,

0:13:39 > 0:13:41- and his therapy.- Definitely. - I think Albie would love it.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45- Yeah.- I think- I- love it! - I love it!

0:13:47 > 0:13:49So it is perfect,

0:13:49 > 0:13:52but does perfection come at an affordable price?

0:13:52 > 0:13:54- I can't fault it. - I can't fault it either.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57- What do you think it is? - Maybe 630?

0:13:57 > 0:13:59I don't want it to be that much, but I think it is.

0:13:59 > 0:14:01I was thinking in the region of 615.

0:14:01 > 0:14:03615, OK.

0:14:03 > 0:14:05Is this somewhere they could afford?

0:14:05 > 0:14:09Their budget is an impressive £550,000.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11- You turn.- All right, then.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13Oh!

0:14:13 > 0:14:14SHE GASPS

0:14:15 > 0:14:18507,000?

0:14:18 > 0:14:21- Wow.- Oh, my gosh!

0:14:21 > 0:14:22I didn't expect that.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25That's £43,000 below budget.

0:14:25 > 0:14:28We've started our day off well. If we could get this sort of house

0:14:28 > 0:14:30for that sort of money, it's like a dream come true.

0:14:30 > 0:14:32- What a great start to our day that was.- Good start, yeah.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34- Really nice.- Well done.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36- Well done!- Well done, yes!

0:14:37 > 0:14:40Back in the car for a half an hour drive west of Brisbane

0:14:40 > 0:14:43and inland to Wongawallan.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46This is a snug suburb deep in the rainforest,

0:14:46 > 0:14:50yet only 18 miles from the sandy beaches of the Gold Coast.

0:14:50 > 0:14:54The area boasts great family living with a friendly community spirit.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57After the wow factor of the first house,

0:14:57 > 0:15:00can property number two deliver even more?

0:15:01 > 0:15:02Wow!

0:15:02 > 0:15:06Gosh, could you see yourself living somewhere this remote?

0:15:06 > 0:15:09- I can, actually. - You can? Look at it, it's lovely.

0:15:09 > 0:15:14It is nice, but I'm just not sure about remoteness of it.

0:15:14 > 0:15:17For the first time, Jayne sounds hesitant,

0:15:17 > 0:15:20and the entrance hall compounds her reservations.

0:15:22 > 0:15:24- To the left.- Oh, wow!

0:15:24 > 0:15:26Look at this!

0:15:26 > 0:15:28It's a nice size, but it's not...

0:15:28 > 0:15:30Definitely not my taste.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33Looks a bit dark, though, or maybe it's just the windows.

0:15:33 > 0:15:35Yeah, I'd like to see the rest of it.

0:15:35 > 0:15:40She loves open plans, so maybe this kitchen will brighten her mood.

0:15:40 > 0:15:43- Nice kitchen lounge. - Oh, wow, this is nice.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46This is a bit more...bit more modern.

0:15:46 > 0:15:47If the bedrooms deliver,

0:15:47 > 0:15:50it could be this property's saving grace for Jayne.

0:15:50 > 0:15:55Lovely patio doors. It's got a nice feel to it, this room.

0:15:55 > 0:15:57- Yeah.- Yeah, I like it.

0:15:57 > 0:15:58I do like it, yeah.

0:15:58 > 0:15:59But will it be enough?

0:15:59 > 0:16:01Their tour continues.

0:16:01 > 0:16:03- Family bathroom. - Yes, family bathroom.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05- Every room's got a nice view. - Yeah. It has, hasn't it?

0:16:05 > 0:16:09- Nice gradient, there, to the property.- Yeah.

0:16:09 > 0:16:11Yeah, this looks like a guest bedroom, I think.

0:16:11 > 0:16:14It's not massive, but it's a...

0:16:14 > 0:16:16- A decent size.- Yeah. You can get the double bed in.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20Wow. Yeah. This is a nice size, isn't it?

0:16:20 > 0:16:23- This is a big double. - Yeah. Bigger than the other one.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31Yeah. Do therapy in here with him.

0:16:31 > 0:16:33Yeah. I could see this room with Albie's name on it.

0:16:36 > 0:16:40Oh, this is a really lovely outdoor eating area, isn't it?

0:16:40 > 0:16:42- Nice outside space.- Yeah, it's a beautiful outside space.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44- You don't get this back home.- No.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47No, I think you could even buy this house just for this.

0:16:47 > 0:16:48Just for the view.

0:16:48 > 0:16:52And the thought of Albie having fun in this sun melts their hearts.

0:16:53 > 0:16:57I think, with the house, the view, and now a pool,

0:16:57 > 0:16:59it's just blown me away.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01- Albie would love it. - Albie would love it.

0:17:01 > 0:17:03He'd be in it all the time.

0:17:03 > 0:17:05- Nice to...- Come home from work, get in the pool.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07- ..have a dip in the pool. - Could see us doing that.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10SHE LAUGHS

0:17:10 > 0:17:12Not that Albie cares.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14He's found his man cave.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16So what do we think about this house, then?

0:17:18 > 0:17:19It's not a bad house.

0:17:19 > 0:17:24- Yeah.- I'm just wondering if it's a bit too remote.

0:17:24 > 0:17:27When we drove up, I thought, "Mm, I'm not sure."

0:17:27 > 0:17:30Now, seeing the house, I actually do quite like the house.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32Can they afford it?

0:17:32 > 0:17:36I'm going to say for this property, 470,000.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38470?

0:17:38 > 0:17:40- 550.- 550.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42- But I don't know, I don't know. - On budget.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44Yeah, I'm going on budget, right on budget.

0:17:44 > 0:17:49Their budget is an impressive £550,000.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56Wow.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59It's £66,000 under budget.

0:18:00 > 0:18:01I did think it was going to be more.

0:18:03 > 0:18:08So I'm pleasantly surprised what you could get for your money.

0:18:08 > 0:18:09- Mm-hm.- Yeah.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12- This was a lovely house. - What do you think of this house?

0:18:12 > 0:18:14- Did you like it? - It was nice, wasn't it?

0:18:14 > 0:18:17Yes, a great day so far.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20And the Myburghs still have the dream house to view.

0:18:20 > 0:18:2440 minutes in the car takes the family back to the coast.

0:18:24 > 0:18:27This is Broadbeach, or Broadie to the locals.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30Sandwiched between the ocean and canal waterways,

0:18:30 > 0:18:34this family-friendly suburb is in the heart of the Gold Coast.

0:18:34 > 0:18:38Property number three backs onto the canal, with beach, shops,

0:18:38 > 0:18:41parks and restaurants right on its doorstep.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43- Number three. Past number three.- Let's go.

0:18:43 > 0:18:45Different to the other properties,

0:18:45 > 0:18:48might this one have an even bigger wow factor?

0:18:48 > 0:18:50SHE GASPS

0:18:50 > 0:18:51Oh, my goodness me.

0:18:51 > 0:18:52SHE LAUGHS

0:18:52 > 0:18:55I didn't expect this, looking on the outside.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00- Look at this kitchen.- Yeah. - It's amazing.- This is good.

0:19:00 > 0:19:01So clean.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03Clean lines, modern.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05Can you see yourself cooking in this kitchen, dear?

0:19:07 > 0:19:08THEY LAUGH

0:19:08 > 0:19:10This is ticking all the boxes.

0:19:10 > 0:19:14Oh, this is a lovely bedroom, isn't it? Look how bright it is.

0:19:14 > 0:19:15These beautiful doors,

0:19:15 > 0:19:17onto the pool area.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23Albie's already picked his room.

0:19:23 > 0:19:24Nice, fitted wardrobes.

0:19:24 > 0:19:27- Good size. Good wardrobes. - Good size with the fan.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30And again, a lovely view, out on the pool area, the patio.

0:19:30 > 0:19:33Talk about saving the best till last.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36Oh, wow! Now, this is more like it.

0:19:36 > 0:19:39Look at that view. It's so light and airy.

0:19:39 > 0:19:41Lovely, done lovely as well. Nice and modern.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43Can you see this as being your bedroom?

0:19:43 > 0:19:45I could see this as my bedroom. It's amazing, it's lovely.

0:19:47 > 0:19:48Oh, wow.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50- Wow.- Stunning.- This is nice.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52I could definitely have this as my bathroom.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55This is lovely. This is lovely. Lovely.

0:19:55 > 0:19:59And the pool is everything they are looking for.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Wow, Gene, look at this pool.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03- Wow.- This is beautiful.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05And you've got the step down for Albie.

0:20:05 > 0:20:06It's perfect.

0:20:07 > 0:20:10It's the closest to perfection as they can get.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14Oh, my goodness. Look at this!

0:20:14 > 0:20:17- This is nice.- This is just amazing.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20The glass all the way around, look at the views.

0:20:20 > 0:20:25- This is a selling point.- This is what it's all about.- Yeah.

0:20:25 > 0:20:30But could they afford it on their £550,000 budget?

0:20:30 > 0:20:34There's so many positives. It's spacious, it's modern,

0:20:34 > 0:20:35it's light and airy.

0:20:35 > 0:20:38If we could afford this house, I would absolutely love to live here.

0:20:38 > 0:20:40It is what you come to Australia for.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42- This is nice.- It is the lifestyle you dream of.

0:20:42 > 0:20:48So, is this perfect place somewhere they might be able to buy?

0:20:51 > 0:20:54755,000.

0:20:54 > 0:20:58It is more than £200,000 over budget.

0:20:58 > 0:21:02If this was our budget, I would happily pay this for this house.

0:21:02 > 0:21:04This, to me, is the dream home.

0:21:04 > 0:21:09- Absolutely.- It's been an inspiring day on the property front.

0:21:09 > 0:21:11House number one got the family all excited.

0:21:11 > 0:21:15It was exactly what they wanted from a home down under.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18Both inside and out, it ticked all their boxes.

0:21:18 > 0:21:22The couple were speechless when they realised it was within their budget.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25Property number two was a bigger house for their money,

0:21:25 > 0:21:27but was further out of town

0:21:27 > 0:21:29and the location felt remote to Jayne.

0:21:29 > 0:21:32She thought it dark and definitely not to her taste.

0:21:32 > 0:21:35And given they were right on the edge of the actual rainforest,

0:21:35 > 0:21:38they worried about losing Albie in the forest.

0:21:39 > 0:21:43Then the excitement level reached fever pitch when they saw the beach

0:21:43 > 0:21:44bungalow in Broadie,

0:21:44 > 0:21:48its clean, open lines and safe, stylish pool area,

0:21:48 > 0:21:51this property was more than they could ever imagine.

0:21:51 > 0:21:56The dream came at a price though. It was £200,000 over budget.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58So when it comes to properties,

0:21:58 > 0:22:02will the couple vote for Australia or the UK?

0:22:02 > 0:22:05After an amazing property day here, it's time to vote.

0:22:11 > 0:22:12- Australia!- Australia!

0:22:14 > 0:22:16- Just been a great day.- It's amazing value for money.

0:22:16 > 0:22:21It's been a real eye-opener. Value for money and what an amazing lifestyle you could have over here.

0:22:21 > 0:22:22Yeah. Really happy.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24I'm happy too. I'm excited.

0:22:24 > 0:22:27- Yeah, yeah.- I really am. - Team Myburgh.- Team Myburgh.

0:22:33 > 0:22:35With Eugene's vote for Australia,

0:22:35 > 0:22:39Jayne's campaign is off to a confident start.

0:22:39 > 0:22:43But Eugene will need to get the right job down under to be convinced

0:22:43 > 0:22:45the move is worth the risk.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47Back in the UK, he's a quantity surveyor.

0:22:47 > 0:22:52My job entails going around, visiting various projects,

0:22:52 > 0:22:55from new builds to refurbishments or, in this case,

0:22:55 > 0:22:59to resurface a car park.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02I spend half the time in the office

0:23:02 > 0:23:04and the other half of the time on the road,

0:23:04 > 0:23:08visiting various projects around the country.

0:23:08 > 0:23:11I've been a quantity surveyor now for ten years.

0:23:11 > 0:23:17It's not the easiest job in the world but it's very rewarding.

0:23:17 > 0:23:21He knows he wants a more robust work-life balance from work in Oz.

0:23:22 > 0:23:23In Australia,

0:23:23 > 0:23:25I would look for a similar role at the moment,

0:23:25 > 0:23:28being a project quantity surveyor.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31More office-based with maybe more local projects

0:23:31 > 0:23:33rather than travelling.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36Anything to spend more time with Albie.

0:23:36 > 0:23:38Jayne too works around looking after her young son.

0:23:38 > 0:23:41Tell Mummy what does a pirate say?

0:23:41 > 0:23:46- Ah-haar!- Ah-haar!- Shiver me timbers!- Shiver me timbers!

0:23:46 > 0:23:49I work in a local school as a lunchtime supervisor twice a week,

0:23:49 > 0:23:53and the other, I work at a local estate agent, every other Saturday.

0:23:53 > 0:23:55I love both the jobs,

0:23:55 > 0:23:58I've worked at the estate agent for nearly five years now.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00I do it for the social aspect,

0:24:00 > 0:24:02meeting people and to get me out of the house

0:24:02 > 0:24:03and a little bit of spending money.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06Jayne could go back to work full-time,

0:24:06 > 0:24:07but initially, her priority,

0:24:07 > 0:24:11like Eugene, is doing what's right for Albie.

0:24:11 > 0:24:14Finding the right school for Albie in Australia is so important to us,

0:24:14 > 0:24:16it's absolutely vital to our move.

0:24:16 > 0:24:20He's got to get the care that he needs, the attention that he needs.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22He's got to get the right education

0:24:22 > 0:24:24and they've got to understand fragile X,

0:24:24 > 0:24:27or want to understand fragile X and learn about it, so he can be

0:24:27 > 0:24:29supported properly.

0:24:29 > 0:24:32Eugene sets out to explore his work options.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35He's meeting John Waterworth and Paul Tate

0:24:35 > 0:24:37from a local surveyors company.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39It seems they have good news for Eugene.

0:24:39 > 0:24:44Are my current skills and qualifications transferable to Australia?

0:24:44 > 0:24:47You're in an interesting situation where you got ten years' experience,

0:24:47 > 0:24:49but you're still studying a degree. I'd recommend that you get in

0:24:49 > 0:24:51contact with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors,

0:24:51 > 0:24:55because they're the governing body that will assess whether your

0:24:55 > 0:24:57qualifications are recognised here.

0:24:57 > 0:24:59If I was a quantity surveyor in your company,

0:24:59 > 0:25:02what would the work-life balance be?

0:25:02 > 0:25:06You know, there's times during the year when you're busy and there's times when you're not as busy.

0:25:06 > 0:25:11We basically shut the office for two weeks at Christmas and everybody

0:25:11 > 0:25:15goes to the beach and has a good time and everybody comes back refreshed.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18If I was able to get a role here in Australia,

0:25:18 > 0:25:20what could I potentially earn?

0:25:20 > 0:25:27I would say somewhere between £45,000 up to £57,000.

0:25:27 > 0:25:32I think certainly as you gain more experience, then that salary could

0:25:32 > 0:25:37go up to around about 75,000 or even more.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39Based on what you just told me,

0:25:39 > 0:25:42I think it's very positive.

0:25:45 > 0:25:49After a very interesting work day, it's now time for me to vote.

0:25:53 > 0:25:54Australia!

0:25:56 > 0:25:57Good results for Eugene.

0:25:57 > 0:26:01Time to find out if Jayne's having an equally successful day.

0:26:01 > 0:26:05She and Albie are off to visit Saint Stephen's College, where they're met

0:26:05 > 0:26:09by Jane Howe, director of community relations and projects.

0:26:09 > 0:26:13This school is exactly what Jayne wants for Albie -

0:26:13 > 0:26:18mainstream but with an extended learning centre for children with special needs.

0:26:19 > 0:26:20Very impressed.

0:26:20 > 0:26:27I could certainly see Albie fitting in and enjoying this environment for learning.

0:26:27 > 0:26:30With his fragile X, Albie will need enhanced learning sessions.

0:26:30 > 0:26:35This unit, run by Cherie Bunting, could be ideal for him.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38We have lots of different groups that come in here for different

0:26:38 > 0:26:41programmes. If it's social skills that we need to look at,

0:26:41 > 0:26:43if it's phonics we need to look at,

0:26:43 > 0:26:48some students we have come down here and do specialised programmes with

0:26:48 > 0:26:53occupational therapists or speech pathologists, if that's needed.

0:26:53 > 0:26:55That sounds brilliant, I was going to ask about OT and speech and

0:26:55 > 0:26:58- therapy, so if you provide that, that's wonderful as well.- Yeah.

0:26:58 > 0:27:01Time to share the good news with Albie.

0:27:01 > 0:27:04Albie, Mummy's had a look around at this school for you and it's an

0:27:04 > 0:27:06amazing school.

0:27:06 > 0:27:07Nice classrooms.

0:27:07 > 0:27:11- Wow.- Yeah, wow, and I think you'd have a really good time here,

0:27:11 > 0:27:13and learn lots of nice things.

0:27:13 > 0:27:15Would you like to come to this school?

0:27:15 > 0:27:19- Yes.- Yes!- Welcome.

0:27:19 > 0:27:22The couple meet up to talk through their day.

0:27:22 > 0:27:25- Oh, hi!- Hi, dear. - You all right?- Yeah.

0:27:25 > 0:27:27- How was your day at school? - Oh, my day was great.

0:27:27 > 0:27:30I really enjoyed the school. They were so helpful,

0:27:30 > 0:27:32I really could see Albie there.

0:27:32 > 0:27:35So, how did your work day go?

0:27:35 > 0:27:36Very informative.

0:27:36 > 0:27:40Salary-wise, similar to what I earn in the UK.

0:27:40 > 0:27:46- OK.- But a positive of that is there's opportunities for it to go

0:27:46 > 0:27:49up quite substantially, up to 70,000, so...

0:27:49 > 0:27:52- OK.- Which is, which is, for me, is positive.- OK.

0:27:52 > 0:27:55I mean, after the great day we had yesterday, looking at the properties

0:27:55 > 0:27:57and now looking at this amazing school,

0:27:57 > 0:28:02I do feel really positive and I'm really hopeful that our week

0:28:02 > 0:28:03is going the way we want it to go,

0:28:03 > 0:28:05or the way that I want it to go definitely!

0:28:09 > 0:28:11Halfway through their trial week,

0:28:11 > 0:28:16and Jayne Myburgh's dream of moving her family to Australia's Gold Coast

0:28:16 > 0:28:17is off to a good start.

0:28:17 > 0:28:22But remember, there's the all-important financial reality check and

0:28:22 > 0:28:24messages from home still to come.

0:28:24 > 0:28:29And Jayne knows only too well nothing can be certain just yet.

0:28:29 > 0:28:33First though, a day sampling the Aussie lifestyle gives Mum, Dad,

0:28:33 > 0:28:37and Albie the chance for some rare family fun together.

0:28:39 > 0:28:43A huge factor behind the push for a move down under is for Albie to

0:28:43 > 0:28:46enjoy the health benefits an outdoors lifestyle could offer.

0:28:46 > 0:28:50Back in the UK, horse riding's part of his regular therapy,

0:28:50 > 0:28:52but it's mostly done indoors.

0:28:52 > 0:28:56So what better way to start the day than doing his favourite thing

0:28:56 > 0:28:59- in the great outdoors. - Bye, darling! Bye, baby!

0:28:59 > 0:29:04Seeing the way he's enjoying riding the horse and just being outdoors,

0:29:04 > 0:29:08it just really brings a smile to my face and makes me really happy.

0:29:10 > 0:29:15I've actually never seen him trot before, so this is progression as well.

0:29:15 > 0:29:18It's just amazing because it's another thing that he unlocked.

0:29:22 > 0:29:25I get very emotional over any little achievement that he does.

0:29:25 > 0:29:27I mean, it's, to me, watching him ride a horse,

0:29:27 > 0:29:29ride a bike for the first time, a scooter,

0:29:29 > 0:29:32all the things that you think he possibly might never have been able to do

0:29:32 > 0:29:36when you're first diagnosed, are all things that we are now achieving with him.

0:29:36 > 0:29:40And I can't help but... My heart just melts when I see it,

0:29:40 > 0:29:42I'm so proud of him.

0:29:42 > 0:29:46- High five for good riding.- I did it! - High five!- You did it, well done!

0:29:46 > 0:29:48Next, they're off to the beach.

0:29:50 > 0:29:53The day simply couldn't be better.

0:29:53 > 0:29:57To me, seeing Albie like this and enjoying himself and being outdoors,

0:29:57 > 0:30:02that's the most important thing to me. I want him to have this sort of lifestyle -

0:30:02 > 0:30:05fresh air, sea, beach, and not be stuck indoors.

0:30:07 > 0:30:10Lifestyle day today was absolutely brilliant.

0:30:10 > 0:30:14Seeing Albie out with the horses, spending some time on the beach.

0:30:14 > 0:30:18Weather wasn't that great but, I mean, percentage-wise,

0:30:18 > 0:30:22you're going to have bad days, it's not always going to be 100% sunshine.

0:30:22 > 0:30:26I certainly could see myself and us, you know, and Albie loving it here

0:30:26 > 0:30:29and enjoying it and making the most of it.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32Australia this week has just reinforced to me everything that it

0:30:32 > 0:30:34has to offer for us as a family.

0:30:34 > 0:30:39The week thus far has been very positive. All in all I think...

0:30:39 > 0:30:43..maybe a bit better than I thought it would've been.

0:30:43 > 0:30:45I've really enjoyed today.

0:30:45 > 0:30:47- Yeah.- I'm a bit nervous about tomorrow.

0:30:47 > 0:30:51I am a bit concerned at the moment, so it'll be interesting what the

0:30:51 > 0:30:54reality check is going to throw out to us.

0:30:54 > 0:30:56If we can't afford it,

0:30:56 > 0:31:00our dream's going to be over and it's going to be quite devastating.

0:31:00 > 0:31:02But finances aren't the only thing

0:31:02 > 0:31:05that could potentially scupper a move.

0:31:05 > 0:31:09It would be extremely difficult to take Albie away from his grandparents.

0:31:09 > 0:31:12I know my mum and dad love him absolutely.

0:31:12 > 0:31:16I think prior to Albie's diagnosis, my mum and dad would have said,

0:31:16 > 0:31:19"Go for it. It's fine."

0:31:19 > 0:31:22However, since Albie was diagnosed,

0:31:22 > 0:31:26I think my parents have changed their mind a little bit

0:31:26 > 0:31:29and don't necessarily feel we're doing the right thing

0:31:29 > 0:31:31taking Albie away from his support network.

0:31:31 > 0:31:35In terms of the emotional side for Jayne not having her parents there,

0:31:35 > 0:31:38I think that would be very difficult for her.

0:31:38 > 0:31:40The thought of losing my mum or dad breaks my heart and...

0:31:42 > 0:31:46..even at my age, I don't want the thought of losing them.

0:31:46 > 0:31:47Yeah.

0:31:49 > 0:31:53Tough decisions ahead, but for now, when it comes to lifestyle,

0:31:53 > 0:31:55is it home or away?

0:31:55 > 0:31:59After a fun-filled lifestyle day it's now time to vote.

0:32:03 > 0:32:05- Australia.- Australia.

0:32:08 > 0:32:12- We'd be silly not to. - I think it was a no-brainer, really.

0:32:12 > 0:32:15- It was a lovely day.- Yeah, it's been an amazing day.

0:32:15 > 0:32:18I really enjoyed the horse riding, I think Albie absolutely loved it,

0:32:18 > 0:32:22so for me, that was a really fantastic part of the day.

0:32:22 > 0:32:23Absolutely amazing day.

0:32:23 > 0:32:25Yeah, and then the park and the beach.

0:32:25 > 0:32:27The weather hasn't spoiled it at all.

0:32:27 > 0:32:30- Still in shorts.- Still in shorts.

0:32:30 > 0:32:35- And, yeah, it's just been an overall great day.- I agree.

0:32:35 > 0:32:38We're going to walk. Oh, isn't this a lovely beach, Albie?

0:32:38 > 0:32:42- Do you like the beach?- So, we've had a really great day, haven't we?

0:32:43 > 0:32:45Thoroughly enjoyed Australia today.

0:32:51 > 0:32:54With Eugene seemingly swaying towards a move,

0:32:54 > 0:32:59it looks like Jayne's dream life down under could be inching closer.

0:32:59 > 0:33:02But will the finances see her hopes dashed?

0:33:03 > 0:33:06So, we think our house is worth around 500,000?

0:33:06 > 0:33:08Yep.

0:33:08 > 0:33:10Yeah, let's just see now what the estate agents think.

0:33:15 > 0:33:17This looks very nice.

0:33:17 > 0:33:19It's very well presented.

0:33:20 > 0:33:25Not the largest room. Obviously it's from the original way it was built,

0:33:25 > 0:33:27but I do like, again, what they've done with their decor.

0:33:27 > 0:33:29The kitchen/dining room, nice space.

0:33:29 > 0:33:31Good size table.

0:33:31 > 0:33:33Nicely fitted kitchen as well.

0:33:33 > 0:33:36Main bedroom, beautifully decorated.

0:33:36 > 0:33:38Fantastic set of wardrobes.

0:33:38 > 0:33:39Excellent space.

0:33:39 > 0:33:43So bedroom two. Again another good-sized double room.

0:33:43 > 0:33:45Nice fitted cupboard, nice and bright.

0:33:46 > 0:33:48The garden is a reasonable size,

0:33:48 > 0:33:51south-westerly facing, which is nice.

0:33:51 > 0:33:55In the current market, my valuation of the property would be £425,000.

0:33:55 > 0:33:59However, for a quick sale, I would suggest £415,000.

0:33:59 > 0:34:01In the current market, I would value

0:34:01 > 0:34:04this property at £450,000,

0:34:04 > 0:34:08and for it to sell quickly, I would value it at £425,000.

0:34:09 > 0:34:12So, I think the first valuation was completely out of the ballpark.

0:34:12 > 0:34:17It was, to me, quite a ridiculous valuation.

0:34:17 > 0:34:20The second valuation was a bit more realistic,

0:34:20 > 0:34:24so I think that we could, for the reality check, potentially look at the 450-475.

0:34:24 > 0:34:28The 25,000 less is definitely going to have an impact on our final

0:34:28 > 0:34:31figures, so I'm a little bit concerned...

0:34:31 > 0:34:35- Yeah, me too.- ..what the outcome's going to be.- Yeah.

0:34:35 > 0:34:38Next, time to compare the cost of living.

0:34:38 > 0:34:40First up, a look at the weekly shopping bills.

0:34:40 > 0:34:43- I'm nervous.- I'm very nervous. I almost don't want to do it.

0:34:44 > 0:34:47Wow. Looking at salmon fillets,

0:34:47 > 0:34:49that's £4.46 more expensive in Australia,

0:34:49 > 0:34:55but your beef roasting joint is £4.44 cheaper in Australia.

0:34:55 > 0:35:00Potatoes, that's £2.01 more in Australia.

0:35:00 > 0:35:02Adding it up...

0:35:04 > 0:35:10So, our weekly shop in Australia will be £35.50 more than in the UK.

0:35:10 > 0:35:13That's about a third more than in the UK.

0:35:13 > 0:35:16- Not really very happy about that. - That's a considerable amount.

0:35:16 > 0:35:19- Yeah.- Stay positive, Jayne.

0:35:19 > 0:35:23Take a look at the bigger bills, based on property number one.

0:35:23 > 0:35:31So, our monthly outgoings in Australia will be £409.43 more than

0:35:31 > 0:35:34- in the UK.- That too is a third more than home.

0:35:34 > 0:35:36It's not looking good, dear.

0:35:36 > 0:35:39No. I have to agree with you.

0:35:39 > 0:35:41I'm feeling a bit deflated.

0:35:41 > 0:35:44Jayne's dream is turning into her worst nightmare.

0:35:44 > 0:35:50So, in Australia, your salary will be £170.59 more and my salary will

0:35:50 > 0:35:52be £14.71 less.

0:35:53 > 0:35:58A total of £155.88 more in Australia.

0:36:00 > 0:36:02That's a bit disappointing.

0:36:02 > 0:36:05So, what's the final damage?

0:36:05 > 0:36:12- So, we would be £253.55 a month worse off...- Worse off. - ..in Australia.

0:36:12 > 0:36:18And that is £3,042.60 a year.

0:36:18 > 0:36:22I think my worst nightmare for this week just became true.

0:36:22 > 0:36:25Yeah. I'm a bit lost for words at the moment

0:36:25 > 0:36:26- because it's a lot of money.- Hm.

0:36:28 > 0:36:30It's time to vote.

0:36:31 > 0:36:34After a very disappointing reality check day,

0:36:34 > 0:36:35it's now time for us to vote.

0:36:44 > 0:36:45- Undecided.- UK!

0:36:48 > 0:36:51- UK?- Yeah.- Well, I can't hardly blame you, really.

0:36:51 > 0:36:53But I'm undecided because, you know,

0:36:53 > 0:36:55I don't want the dream to be over because of finances.

0:36:55 > 0:36:59You know, you're going to be earning more money at some point,

0:36:59 > 0:37:01so I'm just looking at it like that.

0:37:01 > 0:37:06For me, based on the current figures, it's...

0:37:06 > 0:37:08..it's too big a gap.

0:37:09 > 0:37:11Undecided, are we?

0:37:11 > 0:37:13Yes, undecided.

0:37:17 > 0:37:19The reality check has knocked them for six,

0:37:19 > 0:37:22and now for the messages from loved ones back home.

0:37:22 > 0:37:25It'll be difficult for them to hold it together.

0:37:25 > 0:37:28I hope this doesn't upset me too much.

0:37:28 > 0:37:32- I'm sure you'll be fine, dear. - Yeah. OK, ready to go?- Ready.

0:37:35 > 0:37:40- Hello!- Hi!- Hi, everybody!

0:37:40 > 0:37:42Hi, Jayne and Eugene.

0:37:42 > 0:37:44- Hello, Jayne.- Hello, Jayne.- Hello, Eugene and Albie.

0:37:44 > 0:37:46I hope you're having an amazing time.

0:37:46 > 0:37:51Eugene and Jaynie are absolutely perfect together.

0:37:51 > 0:37:53We just love them all.

0:37:53 > 0:37:58Jayne is very sensitive, and she's very caring.

0:37:58 > 0:38:01She'd do anything for you and I love her to pieces.

0:38:01 > 0:38:03Eugene is amazing.

0:38:03 > 0:38:06He loves our Jaynie.

0:38:06 > 0:38:08Albie is an awesome little kid.

0:38:08 > 0:38:11He's so funny. He's definitely inherited Eugene's sense of humour.

0:38:11 > 0:38:17I want Jayne, Eugene and Albie to stay in the UK.

0:38:17 > 0:38:22I'm struggling to accept that we won't see Albie all the time.

0:38:22 > 0:38:24I will miss them dearly.

0:38:24 > 0:38:28We don't know what life has in store for Albie,

0:38:28 > 0:38:30but we'd like to be part of it.

0:38:30 > 0:38:35If you go to Australia, I'll really miss you.

0:38:35 > 0:38:37I want the boys to grow up with Albie.

0:38:37 > 0:38:39I want you to be around.

0:38:39 > 0:38:41You're their Auntie Jaynie.

0:38:41 > 0:38:43You're going for the great Australian dream.

0:38:43 > 0:38:45It's real, we've lived it.

0:38:45 > 0:38:48But the flip side is you're moving away from your friends and your family

0:38:48 > 0:38:51and we know from experience that's really tough.

0:38:51 > 0:38:55If you go to Australia, I'll be really sad,

0:38:55 > 0:38:58because I really like being with Albie.

0:38:58 > 0:39:03If you decide to go to Australia, me and Dad will support you 100%.

0:39:03 > 0:39:08Just make sure that you think hard about it, make the right decision,

0:39:08 > 0:39:10make the right choices.

0:39:10 > 0:39:14You need to follow your instinct and do what you think is right for your

0:39:14 > 0:39:16family and for Albie.

0:39:16 > 0:39:20- Are you sad?- Yeah. Yeah.- That was difficult.

0:39:20 > 0:39:24- That was difficult. Yeah. - I knew it was going to be difficult.

0:39:24 > 0:39:27I didn't think it was going to be that difficult.

0:39:27 > 0:39:28Gosh, OK.

0:39:28 > 0:39:31Well, that's touched me very much.

0:39:33 > 0:39:34It's going to be hard.

0:39:35 > 0:39:37Yeah, I wasn't expecting to cry.

0:39:40 > 0:39:44At the start of the week, Jayne Myburgh was adamant

0:39:44 > 0:39:47the quality of her young son's life would be so much better

0:39:47 > 0:39:50in the great outdoors of Australia.

0:39:50 > 0:39:55South African husband Eugene knows only too well how wonderful it would

0:39:55 > 0:39:57be for his fragile X son

0:39:57 > 0:40:03but, as the main breadwinner, feels the responsibility for his family heavy on his shoulders.

0:40:03 > 0:40:06And after hearing messages from home,

0:40:06 > 0:40:10they're reminded the cost of moving isn't all about dollars and cents.

0:40:10 > 0:40:12So, what would you do?

0:40:12 > 0:40:13It's a tricky one.

0:40:13 > 0:40:16And as they approach the final vote,

0:40:16 > 0:40:20even Jayne isn't sure where her heart now lies.

0:40:20 > 0:40:25When the Myburghs arrived in Brisbane seven days ago, Jayne was pinning her

0:40:25 > 0:40:30hopes on Australia delivering a brighter, healthier future for her family.

0:40:30 > 0:40:34Now, after a series of emotional and financial highs and lows,

0:40:34 > 0:40:36she's not so sure.

0:40:38 > 0:40:40At the beginning of the week, I thought it was all going really well

0:40:40 > 0:40:44and I thought it would just be Australia, but now I'm really confused now.

0:40:44 > 0:40:47I'm just not sure what I'm doing.

0:40:47 > 0:40:52I am feeling very nervous and anxious at the moment.

0:40:52 > 0:40:54This is a big decision.

0:40:54 > 0:40:59The friends and family video did not make this any easier.

0:40:59 > 0:41:03And seeing the finances in black and white was a stark wake-up call.

0:41:03 > 0:41:06The reality check for me was a really big blow, so, yeah,

0:41:06 > 0:41:09it's huge. It will really affect the decision.

0:41:09 > 0:41:12I haven't really decided.

0:41:12 > 0:41:15I'm just a little bit 50-50 at the moment which way I'm going to go.

0:41:15 > 0:41:16I can't read him.

0:41:16 > 0:41:18He's not giving me any clues.

0:41:18 > 0:41:21It's a big decision and it can change everything.

0:41:21 > 0:41:24The indecision is tormenting them.

0:41:24 > 0:41:26This family needs closure.

0:41:26 > 0:41:30I want to be able to go back to the UK and either start making plans or

0:41:30 > 0:41:32just say, "Right, that's the end of the dream.

0:41:32 > 0:41:34"Let's get on with life here in the UK."

0:41:34 > 0:41:36So, it is really important to make the decision today

0:41:36 > 0:41:39and I'm hoping it'll be the right decision for our family.

0:41:39 > 0:41:42OK, it's time to call it.

0:41:42 > 0:41:45After an amazing week here in Australia, it's time for our final vote.

0:41:53 > 0:41:55- Australia!- Australia!

0:41:55 > 0:41:57SHE GIGGLES

0:42:01 > 0:42:04Everything that I've talked about over the years,

0:42:04 > 0:42:07I think you've seen for yourself now and the great country it is,

0:42:07 > 0:42:10a great lifestyle we could have and the fantastic upbringing Albie

0:42:10 > 0:42:15- could have over here.- He's such a happy child being outside,

0:42:15 > 0:42:17and that's what we want for him.

0:42:17 > 0:42:18I know I'll miss family and friends,

0:42:18 > 0:42:21but this is a great country for them to come and visit.

0:42:21 > 0:42:23I'm so happy that you voted Australia.

0:42:28 > 0:42:32Albie, Mummy and Daddy just voted and we're very happy,

0:42:32 > 0:42:34and we're going to come and live in Australia.

0:42:34 > 0:42:36- Are you happy?- Yes.

0:42:36 > 0:42:38- Yes!- Where do you want to live? - Where do you want to live?

0:42:38 > 0:42:42- Stay here.- You want to stay here? - You want to stay here?- Yes.

0:42:43 > 0:42:47In the end, the decision was unanimous.

0:42:47 > 0:42:51Albie is the centre of their universe and life down under
