0:00:01 > 0:00:03Sioned Young feels a move to Australia

0:00:03 > 0:00:07could bring her closer to her dearly departed mum.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09She was just full of love for this country

0:00:09 > 0:00:12and couldn't kind of praise it enough, and said to us all,

0:00:12 > 0:00:14"You need to go, you need to try it out."

0:00:14 > 0:00:17But her husband Richard is worried

0:00:17 > 0:00:20about the practicalities of such a huge change.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22I think that we really need to

0:00:22 > 0:00:26sort of take a step back sometimes and say,

0:00:26 > 0:00:28"Is this the right thing to do?"

0:00:28 > 0:00:29A trial week in Perth

0:00:29 > 0:00:32sees the family road test the Aussie way of life.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37But will their old life back in Wales prove too emotional

0:00:37 > 0:00:39to leave behind?

0:00:39 > 0:00:40Sorry.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Australia. The smallest continent on earth

0:01:09 > 0:01:12and home to just over 23 million people.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16However, its population continues to rise at one of the fastest rates in

0:01:16 > 0:01:18the developed world.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22With over 10,000 beaches and a sun-soaked climate,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25it's no surprise the country is the number one destination

0:01:25 > 0:01:28for UK families moving abroad.

0:01:28 > 0:01:31When Sioned Young lost her mum to cancer,

0:01:31 > 0:01:34it brought home just how fragile life can be

0:01:34 > 0:01:39and how you've got to seize every moment and live life to the full.

0:01:39 > 0:01:44She feels Australia could offer her the opportunity to do just that.

0:01:44 > 0:01:48But while chef and husband Richard is content with what is currently on

0:01:48 > 0:01:52his plate, he's happy for the family to taste the lifestyle in Australia

0:01:52 > 0:01:55and then decide if they want more.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00The family's first ever trip to Australia

0:02:00 > 0:02:04takes more than 24 hours, from Manchester to Perth.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06And when they finally touched down,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Sioned's already thinking about the miles they've covered.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12The furthest we've been is Europe, and that's like four hours.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14So it's like a totally different ball game.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16- Yes.- Having made it this far,

0:02:16 > 0:02:18Richard is focusing on one thing in particular.

0:02:18 > 0:02:24It's got to be the right sort of career opportunity for me.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28You know, it's got to be better than what I've got at home at the moment.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32And Sioned is pinning her hopes on Australia living up to expectations.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35The thing that I'm probably most worried about is that we're going

0:02:35 > 0:02:37to love it, and then find out that we can't move.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40I think we will love it. I just hope that everything else works out,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42like financially and jobs-wise.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47The next seven days will determine which side of the world the family's

0:02:47 > 0:02:48future lies.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Meet the Young family.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55They are mum, Sioned.

0:02:55 > 0:03:00Dad, Richard. With one-year-old Felix, Millie, aged 11, and Alexa,

0:03:00 > 0:03:05who's four. They live in the town of Mold in north-east Wales.

0:03:06 > 0:03:10Sioned's felt a connection with Australia since she was 16,

0:03:10 > 0:03:14when her mum visited the country 15 years ago while she was ill.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17It was really special to her.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20She went and stayed with a friend who had a smallholding out there,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22and they did a lot of riding and just travelling around.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25I think she did some quite sort of amazing things.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28So when she came back, she was just full of love for this country

0:03:28 > 0:03:31and couldn't kind of praise it enough, and said to us,

0:03:31 > 0:03:33"Oh, you know, you need to go, you need to try it out,

0:03:33 > 0:03:35"you'd love it there."

0:03:35 > 0:03:39Shortly after returning, Sioned's mum passed away,

0:03:39 > 0:03:41but her passion for the country

0:03:41 > 0:03:43left a lasting impression on her children.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46When my sister went when I was in uni, I kind of thought then,

0:03:46 > 0:03:48you know, I'm really going to miss her.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51She's my oldest sister, and when my mum died,

0:03:51 > 0:03:55she kind of became, I suppose, a mum figure to me.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59So when she went, I sort of thought, "Oh, you know...

0:04:00 > 0:04:01"..this could happen."

0:04:01 > 0:04:05But at the time, I was in uni, I was quite young, I had good friends,

0:04:05 > 0:04:06it just wasn't right.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09And then my brother going, that was it.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11I was just like, "I want to be there now."

0:04:11 > 0:04:12I'd be there tomorrow if I could.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Although Australia has become more of an urgency for Sioned,

0:04:17 > 0:04:19she has a settled family life

0:04:19 > 0:04:21with Richard and the children in North Wales.

0:04:23 > 0:04:24I obviously...

0:04:25 > 0:04:26..want Sioned to...

0:04:27 > 0:04:30..to be happy, and I want, you know, to make sure that she does

0:04:30 > 0:04:33everything that she wants to do, and, you know,

0:04:33 > 0:04:34her dreams are fulfilled.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38But in turn, I just want to make sure that it's right for us all.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40I think that we really need to

0:04:40 > 0:04:44sort of take a step back sometimes and say,

0:04:44 > 0:04:46"Is this the right thing to do?"

0:04:46 > 0:04:50Richard has very practical concerns about a move.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54I think my sort of reservations are around...

0:04:56 > 0:04:58..my job opportunities, really.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00I think that

0:05:00 > 0:05:05I need to make sure that we can, you know, afford to be out there.

0:05:05 > 0:05:09- Yes.- And survive out there.

0:05:09 > 0:05:10Rich definitely sees risk.

0:05:10 > 0:05:11He...

0:05:11 > 0:05:13He's not really a risk-taker.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16He likes to know what's going to happen,

0:05:16 > 0:05:18and he definitely isn't a risk-taker when it comes to money.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22Millie seems to be on board, though.

0:05:22 > 0:05:26So far all my cousins have been except for us,

0:05:26 > 0:05:28and they've all said it's been amazing there,

0:05:28 > 0:05:31so I'd really like to go there as well.

0:05:31 > 0:05:32The biggest wrench, however,

0:05:32 > 0:05:35will be taking the children away from their grandparents,

0:05:35 > 0:05:37especially for Richard.

0:05:38 > 0:05:43I feel that I'll be taking away, you know, their sort of...

0:05:46 > 0:05:50..relationship with the children, watching them grow and, you know,

0:05:50 > 0:05:54being a part of their lives, and, you know, vice versa.

0:05:54 > 0:05:57I want my mum and dad to be around for...

0:05:58 > 0:06:01..for their grandchildren, so I think that's sort of...

0:06:03 > 0:06:05..really sort of plays on my mind.

0:06:06 > 0:06:10He sees his mum and dad quite a bit as well, so...

0:06:10 > 0:06:12Leaving them, probably for him, would be hard.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16And then they get quite upset as well,

0:06:16 > 0:06:21and they got quite upset about the fact that we might be moving over

0:06:21 > 0:06:23- there.- My mum, she...

0:06:24 > 0:06:27..gets upset when we talk about it,

0:06:27 > 0:06:30and my dad as well. He loves the kids, so...

0:06:30 > 0:06:35It would be a real tough sort of conversation, I think.

0:06:35 > 0:06:40I do think ultimately he would obviously want to make us happy...

0:06:41 > 0:06:44..but it would come with a cost for him, I think,

0:06:44 > 0:06:45and I need to respect that.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47I need to understand that, that that matters to him.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51Sioned is hoping her mum's inspirational journey

0:06:51 > 0:06:53will rub off on her family.

0:06:53 > 0:06:57When I think about her, I don't feel sad as in like it's a sort of

0:06:57 > 0:07:00horrible thing, I just remember how positive she was,

0:07:00 > 0:07:01how lovely she was,

0:07:01 > 0:07:03and we're all the same, and she has left that with us,

0:07:03 > 0:07:06that we need to go out and live life

0:07:06 > 0:07:08and do what we want to do and follow our dreams.

0:07:10 > 0:07:11Whatever happens,

0:07:11 > 0:07:15she knows her mum would approve of her following in her footsteps.

0:07:15 > 0:07:17It's a way of following her advice...

0:07:19 > 0:07:23..because she was very wise and she did say the right things, you know.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25I think that if she says it's the right thing to do,

0:07:25 > 0:07:26it definitely would be.

0:07:33 > 0:07:37The Youngs' home for the week is the port suburb of Fremantle,

0:07:37 > 0:07:39just half an hour from Perth city centre.

0:07:41 > 0:07:42After a good night's sleep,

0:07:42 > 0:07:46Sioned and Richard discuss the week ahead over breakfast.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48I'm looking forward to, you know,

0:07:48 > 0:07:53finding out sort of what Australia has for us in terms of, you know,

0:07:53 > 0:07:55- family activities... - Lifestyle, you know.

0:07:55 > 0:07:58And just for us as well, you know, as the kids grow up,

0:07:58 > 0:08:01we need to make sure that there's going to be plenty

0:08:01 > 0:08:02for us to sort of...

0:08:02 > 0:08:05- Yeah, actually, I never think about that.- Yeah, so...

0:08:05 > 0:08:08- After, when we actually have a life! - Yeah!

0:08:09 > 0:08:13- They'd be all right with that one. - We need to be open-minded, I think.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16This week's really going to help us out

0:08:16 > 0:08:18to make those important decisions.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Back in the UK, the Youngs live

0:08:29 > 0:08:32in their rented home in north-east Wales.

0:08:32 > 0:08:34We live in Mold, don't we, now?

0:08:34 > 0:08:36Which is a lovely town, actually.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38I really like it. You like it, too, don't you?

0:08:38 > 0:08:43Yes. We've got the park right behind us, and it's a walk into town, so,

0:08:43 > 0:08:46you know, we've got... Everything's really convenient.

0:08:46 > 0:08:50They've got £200,000 to spend on a home down under,

0:08:50 > 0:08:53and Sioned's pretty clear on what that should be.

0:08:53 > 0:08:58Big kitchen, big living room, big dining room, playroom, big garden,

0:08:58 > 0:09:01maybe a pool. Four bedrooms.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03Nice and modern!

0:09:03 > 0:09:06To find out what kind of house they could have in Australia,

0:09:06 > 0:09:09we'll show the family three properties - two on budget,

0:09:09 > 0:09:12and a third which could be their dream home.

0:09:12 > 0:09:16House-hunting begins in Halls Head, in the popular suburb of Mandurah,

0:09:16 > 0:09:18an hour south of Perth.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20This is nice!

0:09:20 > 0:09:25With great schools, facilities and just five minutes from the beach,

0:09:25 > 0:09:28will this four-bedroom family home do the trick?

0:09:28 > 0:09:31Looks nice.

0:09:31 > 0:09:33First impressions for all the family are good.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35What do you think?

0:09:35 > 0:09:39- I like it.- Let's hope this positive vibe continues.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41- It's a good space, isn't it? - I like it.

0:09:41 > 0:09:42I don't love these tops.

0:09:42 > 0:09:46- The colours?- Yeah. - No, but you could change them.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48- You could, couldn't you? Yeah. - I think the layout's really good.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51- Yeah.- Bit dark, though, that's my only sort of...

0:09:52 > 0:09:53- ..reservation about... You know. - Yeah.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55I think you could work on everything else,

0:09:55 > 0:09:59but it's just not much natural light coming through, is there?

0:09:59 > 0:10:02This is the master bedroom.

0:10:02 > 0:10:04Will they be fans of this room?

0:10:04 > 0:10:06It's not huge, but...

0:10:06 > 0:10:11..it's an OK size. The bathroom's, like, mega decent.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13There is one perk, though.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15We've got a full walk-in wardrobe.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17I'd probably, like, put a door on it.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19- Yeah, yeah.- Just so you don't see all of your...

0:10:19 > 0:10:21Cos you could just like, "Oh, my room's tidy now!"

0:10:21 > 0:10:23Next up, the children's rooms.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25What do you think?

0:10:25 > 0:10:27- This is a nice room. - Would you like this bedroom?

0:10:27 > 0:10:28- Wow.- Yeah?

0:10:28 > 0:10:30- It's all right. - It's a good size, as well.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32Well, it's all right.

0:10:32 > 0:10:33For Alexa.

0:10:33 > 0:10:35- Where else have we got?- While the little ones hang out with the

0:10:35 > 0:10:39childminder, the rest of the family continue exploring.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41This would be my room, cos it's a lot bigger.

0:10:41 > 0:10:43- It is bigger, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45I just don't like the carpet.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47- Yeah. It all needs updating, doesn't it?- Yeah.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49A bit old lady, isn't it?

0:10:49 > 0:10:51Well, that's all Millie needed to see.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54So Mum and Dad soldier on alone.

0:10:54 > 0:10:55So this is like another living area.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58It's bigger than what we have now, just like the lounge.

0:10:58 > 0:11:00- About the same.- Yeah, similar, isn't it?

0:11:00 > 0:11:02Do you know what I feel like? I'm not...I'm not excited.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Like, I'm not saying, "Oh, I love it."

0:11:05 > 0:11:07But it's liveable.

0:11:07 > 0:11:11Let's see if the outside space can sell this space to the Youngs.

0:11:11 > 0:11:12Oh, wow, this is big.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15- Really nice.- This is what you come out for, isn't it, this?

0:11:15 > 0:11:18Yeah, loads of space for the kids to play,

0:11:18 > 0:11:20and you've got this nice shaded sort of area.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23Yeah. This outside space has sold it for me.

0:11:23 > 0:11:24I'd happily move for this.

0:11:24 > 0:11:25It's beautiful.

0:11:27 > 0:11:30Well, that's a turnaround, but is it affordable?

0:11:30 > 0:11:34So, price-wise, what do you think this is worth?

0:11:34 > 0:11:36350?

0:11:36 > 0:11:37You think that high?

0:11:37 > 0:11:38- Yeah...- No!

0:11:38 > 0:11:45- I think more like on budget-ish. - Do you think?- Like 200, £210,000.

0:11:45 > 0:11:49I think it's going to be a decent price.

0:11:49 > 0:11:50I'm nervous!

0:11:51 > 0:11:52OK, ready? Yeah.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55- Oh, wow!- Right!

0:11:55 > 0:11:58OK, £196,000.

0:11:58 > 0:11:59That's...

0:11:59 > 0:12:01- I was way off.- You were way off!

0:12:01 > 0:12:03I'm really glad that you were way off.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06That's £4,000 under budget and, more importantly,

0:12:06 > 0:12:10£154,000 below Richard's guess.

0:12:10 > 0:12:11I'm really happy with that.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13- I'm really...pleasantly surprised. - Yep.

0:12:13 > 0:12:17With Sioned's crusade to convert Richard off to a confident start,

0:12:17 > 0:12:20the couple continue their search.

0:12:20 > 0:12:24Property two is just a few miles away in Greenfields.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27With schools, parks and still only ten minutes to the beach,

0:12:27 > 0:12:29it's a great place for families.

0:12:29 > 0:12:34No, it's not the motor home, it's this five bedroom house instead.

0:12:36 > 0:12:37It looks...looks good.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39Inside, the decor is...

0:12:39 > 0:12:43- I like the door.- ..unusual? - That's a nice door.- Oh.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47- Wow! This is interesting. - Extravagant, isn't it?

0:12:48 > 0:12:49Is it Christmas?

0:12:50 > 0:12:52It's just not us, this, is it?

0:12:52 > 0:12:54But that might be the decor.

0:12:54 > 0:12:56Let's see if the main bedroom is any better.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58It's just really not our taste at all,

0:12:58 > 0:13:01- isn't it? And I'm struggling to see past it.- En-suite again.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04- Yeah.- It's just...

0:13:04 > 0:13:05Not very nice.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07Just modernisation again, isn't it, really?

0:13:07 > 0:13:11I don't really like it. I'm not sure I'd want to spend the money.

0:13:11 > 0:13:15- Oh, dear.- OK, so this is like a little...- Big office.- ..office.

0:13:15 > 0:13:16Little, little big office.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19Little big office! Well, we wouldn't need this.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21I don't think I'd live here.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23- I'm getting that feeling...- Already.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25..already that I don't feel like this is...

0:13:25 > 0:13:27I couldn't see ourselves here.

0:13:27 > 0:13:28At least there's a pool...

0:13:28 > 0:13:30..table.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34Look at this. It's a strange thing to have in your kitchen!

0:13:34 > 0:13:35Oh, my God.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38But it's huge, isn't it? It's really spacious.

0:13:38 > 0:13:39Things are looking up.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41There's plenty of...

0:13:41 > 0:13:43..you know, work space.

0:13:43 > 0:13:47- Or down.- The kitchen's all right, but I just don't really like it.

0:13:47 > 0:13:51- I can't see us here. - The sitting room's a bonus.

0:13:51 > 0:13:52This is quite a good space, isn't it?

0:13:54 > 0:13:56- Yep.- Or not.

0:13:56 > 0:13:57Doesn't feel very cosy, does it?

0:13:57 > 0:13:58I think it's the tiles as well.

0:13:58 > 0:14:01I don't... You couldn't relax in here.

0:14:01 > 0:14:03- No.- OK.- Shame.

0:14:03 > 0:14:04And the children's rooms?

0:14:04 > 0:14:06So this is, like, one of the kids rooms, yeah?

0:14:06 > 0:14:10This feels much more modern than the rest of the house.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12Like, I don't mind this room.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14Oh, this is progress.

0:14:14 > 0:14:15This is quite a good size.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18It's nice that it looks out onto the garden as well.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20Yeah, yeah. No, it's nice actually.

0:14:20 > 0:14:23But the family bathroom leaves them feeling...

0:14:23 > 0:14:25- Very blue.- Is this the main bathroom, then?

0:14:25 > 0:14:28- Is this like...?- I assume so.

0:14:28 > 0:14:30It's not on a bedroom, is it?

0:14:30 > 0:14:31- Pretty small, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:14:31 > 0:14:35Looks like the outdoors will have to save the day again.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37This is quite a good space.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40- Yeah.- This is probably the nicest bit of the house, I would say.

0:14:40 > 0:14:41Yeah, no, it's good actually.

0:14:41 > 0:14:43- I think this is like a grown-ups' garden.- Yeah, definitely, yeah.

0:14:43 > 0:14:45- It's just not as nice as the other one, is it?- No.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48OK, well, let's get this over and done with.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50The budget - £200,000.

0:14:50 > 0:14:53So what are your thoughts on this house, then?

0:14:53 > 0:14:56Erm, I don't really like it.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58No surprises there!

0:14:58 > 0:15:00I reckon it's over our budget anyway.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02- Over?- I reckon it's 200,000. Yeah, definitely.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04No, I'm going to say it's less than the last house.

0:15:04 > 0:15:07- Do you reckon? No way. - I'm going to say about £180,000.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09I'm probably wrong again, aren't I?

0:15:09 > 0:15:10OK. Shall we see?

0:15:13 > 0:15:17Oh. £214,000.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19That's 14 grand over budget.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22Richard was right this time.

0:15:22 > 0:15:24No, I wouldn't pay this, no way.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26- No.- Too much.- Definitely not.

0:15:26 > 0:15:30Let's hope the last property can turn things around.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32For the final stop of the day,

0:15:32 > 0:15:36the couple head ten minutes south to the pretty suburb of Erskine.

0:15:36 > 0:15:38With its laid-back attitude,

0:15:38 > 0:15:40it's perfect for a family-friendly lifestyle.

0:15:42 > 0:15:45As they pull up to this quiet cul-de-sac,

0:15:45 > 0:15:49will this four-bedroom home turn those frowns upside down?

0:15:49 > 0:15:51This is nice.

0:15:51 > 0:15:52Yeah, it looks really good.

0:15:52 > 0:15:56Like a nice quiet area, doesn't it?

0:15:56 > 0:16:00- Yeah.- But we all know it's what's on the inside that counts.

0:16:00 > 0:16:02Ah, that's cool.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06Nice little kitchen.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09Whoa, it's like a country kitchen, isn't it?

0:16:09 > 0:16:14Reminds me of one of my friend's mum's kitchens!

0:16:16 > 0:16:17It's not as big, though, is it?

0:16:17 > 0:16:19- No, but still... - As the other houses.

0:16:20 > 0:16:21Space wise, I don't mind it.

0:16:21 > 0:16:24You can be cooking on here and prepping on here,

0:16:24 > 0:16:26and you've got everything close to hand.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29- I like it.- I'll be honest, I would want to rip this kitchen out.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32So this is your dining area.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34I really like that light.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37- No, I like it. I like the space. - Yeah.- The flow.

0:16:37 > 0:16:39It feels nice and homely.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42- Yeah.- I really like it. - Still open plan, isn't it?

0:16:42 > 0:16:46The mood is definitely more positive as they move on to the bedrooms.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48This is lovely, isn't it?

0:16:48 > 0:16:49- Wow.- This is beautiful.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51Yes, it's really nice.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53This wouldn't look like this if we lived here.

0:16:53 > 0:16:55- What do you mean?!- This is nice.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57But this is really pretty. I could be really comfy in here.

0:16:57 > 0:17:00- What's that in there?- The en-suite.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02Oh, this is nice.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04- Oh, yeah, really nice.- You wouldn't have to do anything, would you?

0:17:04 > 0:17:07- I mean, that's a walk-in wardrobe, I'm guessing, over here.- Yep.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11- Let's have a look. - Oh, this is nice. Oh, I like this.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15- Oh, yeah.- Yeah, I can see myself in this room.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18- That's a positive. - Well, that's a relief.

0:17:18 > 0:17:20The children's rooms are next.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24Oh, this is nice. This is a gorgeous room, isn't it?

0:17:24 > 0:17:26- Millie would love this. - Yeah, it's a cool room.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30- So far, so good, I think. - Cosy again, isn't it?- Yeah, yeah.

0:17:30 > 0:17:32- This is quite big.- Mm.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35- Isn't it? - Each room looks really nice.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38You've got two rooms now that you could definitely fit a double in.

0:17:38 > 0:17:39Yep. It's cool! Cool room.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42This is so cool! I love that.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44- That's amazing. - It's an all right size, isn't it?

0:17:44 > 0:17:46It would probably do for Felix, wouldn't it?

0:17:46 > 0:17:48It's really homely, this place, isn't it?

0:17:48 > 0:17:50And that's what you want. You want it to feel right, don't you?

0:17:50 > 0:17:52And this kind of does.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54Outside is the icing on the cake.

0:17:54 > 0:17:57- Oh, this is nice.- Yeah, really nice.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Look, it's a pool!

0:18:01 > 0:18:02- This is gorgeous.- This is...

0:18:03 > 0:18:07..how I sort of imagined everything could be like in Australia.

0:18:07 > 0:18:09- Yeah.- This is what you sort of dream of, isn't it?

0:18:09 > 0:18:11- I could see myself here. - Yeah.- With a bit of grass.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13This is, this is amazing, isn't it?

0:18:13 > 0:18:16Well, this place has definitely got their attention.

0:18:16 > 0:18:20But can they afford it on their £200,000 budget?

0:18:20 > 0:18:22I really like this house.

0:18:22 > 0:18:24I could see us living somewhere like this.

0:18:24 > 0:18:26How much do you think, then?

0:18:26 > 0:18:29- Erm...- I'm always wrong so...

0:18:29 > 0:18:30£330,000.

0:18:30 > 0:18:32OK.

0:18:32 > 0:18:34I'm going to say...

0:18:34 > 0:18:38I'm going to go close to that - £315,000.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41Right, shall we see how much it is?

0:18:41 > 0:18:42Yeah. Do it.

0:18:44 > 0:18:46Wow.

0:18:46 > 0:18:47£260,000.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49- No way!- That's a surprise.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51It is. Yeah, I thought it was going to be...

0:18:51 > 0:18:53Well, we both went way over, didn't we?

0:18:53 > 0:18:57It's £60,000 over budget, but...

0:18:57 > 0:18:59If that's what you can get here, with this...

0:19:00 > 0:19:02..I'd...I'd buy it.

0:19:02 > 0:19:04Because I think that's totally... That's doable.

0:19:05 > 0:19:10It's been a bit of a roller-coaster today on the property front.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12House number one ticked most of their boxes.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14With an outdoors area that impressed

0:19:14 > 0:19:16and a price tag under budget,

0:19:16 > 0:19:18it was a definite maybe for the Youngs.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22Property two was a bit of a disaster.

0:19:22 > 0:19:26With its outdated decor and a price neither were willing to pay,

0:19:26 > 0:19:29it was a resounding thumbs down.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31Property three was a winner!

0:19:31 > 0:19:35With a modern spacious interior and fantastic outdoors,

0:19:35 > 0:19:37even at £60,000 over budget,

0:19:37 > 0:19:40it left the Youngs itching to move in.

0:19:40 > 0:19:44So when it comes to properties, will it be home or away?

0:19:52 > 0:19:54- BOTH:- Australia!

0:19:55 > 0:19:57I sort of knew that you going to vote Australia

0:19:57 > 0:19:58after your comments today.

0:19:58 > 0:20:02I know, yeah. I think just getting a feel for the areas and, you know,

0:20:02 > 0:20:06coming along here as well, the beach, it's only five minutes away.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08I think it's just a given.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11- Why wouldn't you?- Definitely feels...feels right so far,

0:20:11 > 0:20:12- like the right thing to do.- Yes.

0:20:13 > 0:20:15That's awesome. I'm so pleased.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23Richard's vote for Australia hasn't completely surprised Sioned,

0:20:23 > 0:20:27but finding the right job down under has always been his biggest concern.

0:20:27 > 0:20:28Back in the UK,

0:20:28 > 0:20:32Richard's a development chef with one of the UK's major frozen food

0:20:32 > 0:20:38- outlets.- I work with suppliers and create fantastic products to go in

0:20:38 > 0:20:42store, work on innovation, creative sections.

0:20:42 > 0:20:45It's a job he absolutely loves.

0:20:45 > 0:20:49I love the flexibility that I do have and, you know,

0:20:49 > 0:20:55I'm able to be as creative as I can and as I want to be.

0:20:55 > 0:20:58And then seeing it on the shelves, it's a real satisfaction.

0:21:00 > 0:21:02Sioned trained as a photographer,

0:21:02 > 0:21:05but having a family has pushed her career onto the back burner.

0:21:06 > 0:21:07I've had my babies now.

0:21:07 > 0:21:10I've kind of sacrificed my career for...

0:21:11 > 0:21:13..those years,

0:21:13 > 0:21:17and now it's time for me to go and be who I want to be.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20She knows it won't be easy, though.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22Initially, you know, I'm quite realistic

0:21:22 > 0:21:23that I would be an entry-level,

0:21:23 > 0:21:27and I'm going to have to wait my time and actually work hard to get a

0:21:27 > 0:21:31decent salary! Just as long as it's enough, I'm quite happy with that.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35Today, both will explore job prospects in Australia.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38First up, Richard heads off to a development kitchen

0:21:38 > 0:21:41for chicken meals where he meets expat Jodie.

0:21:43 > 0:21:46So, today, we are going to be cooking up a dish

0:21:46 > 0:21:49- using our free-range chicken stock. - OK.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52This is a product that we've been recently developing.

0:21:52 > 0:21:53Wardrobe!

0:21:54 > 0:21:57Looking good, Rich!

0:21:57 > 0:21:58Let's get cooking.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04At ease in the kitchen, Richard's having a great time.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07Just give us a minute and then we'll be ready to plate up.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11- There we go, that's the soup. - Great.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18- Mm. It's really good.- Yeah.

0:22:19 > 0:22:20So, down to business.

0:22:20 > 0:22:24Richard's keen to find out more about the industry in Aus.

0:22:24 > 0:22:26In the UK, probably for the last 20, 30 years,

0:22:26 > 0:22:28we've had already a massive sort of fresh ready meals,

0:22:28 > 0:22:30fresh salads fixture.

0:22:30 > 0:22:32In Australia, it's very, very new,

0:22:32 > 0:22:34so there's a lot of new manufacturers setting up

0:22:34 > 0:22:37- to cater for the fresh foods fixture.- Yes.

0:22:37 > 0:22:41What could I expect to earn as a development chef over in Australia?

0:22:41 > 0:22:44OK, so on average, development chefs in Australia

0:22:44 > 0:22:48are earning around 80,000 to 100,000 a year.

0:22:48 > 0:22:53That's around £60,000, way more than what he earns back in the UK.

0:22:53 > 0:22:57How likely am I to get a job here in Australia?

0:22:57 > 0:23:00The one thing that the manufacturing industry in WA is probably missing

0:23:00 > 0:23:04is a lot of really good, well-experienced retail chefs,

0:23:04 > 0:23:07that have worked for big retailers.

0:23:07 > 0:23:10So, I definitely think there would be opportunities for you.

0:23:10 > 0:23:12Sounds a recipe for success.

0:23:12 > 0:23:13Happy hunting!

0:23:14 > 0:23:18Across town, Sioned is meeting up with professional food photographer

0:23:18 > 0:23:23Craig Kinder. And from the start, she gets to see a master at work.

0:23:23 > 0:23:25Easy.

0:23:29 > 0:23:31- Look at that.- Yeah, yeah.

0:23:31 > 0:23:34Time now to get the lowdown on this niche market.

0:23:34 > 0:23:36So if I came over here,

0:23:36 > 0:23:39what would your advice be to get into the industry?

0:23:39 > 0:23:41Just align yourself with a photographer

0:23:41 > 0:23:43- that you like the work that they do.- OK. Yeah.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46And then carry their bags for a while.

0:23:46 > 0:23:50- Yeah.- Meet...meet people. Meet the food stylists, meet the clients,

0:23:50 > 0:23:52and get to know people in industry that way.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55Money, in this case, is a shot in the dark.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57How long's piece of string?

0:23:57 > 0:24:00The easy answer is charge as much as you can get away with!

0:24:02 > 0:24:05- 500 a day to 5,000 a day.- Right.

0:24:05 > 0:24:07You've just got to work out where your client fits into that.

0:24:07 > 0:24:12- Cool.- And Craig's even got a business idea for Sioned.

0:24:12 > 0:24:16So, if Richard wants to work as a recipe developer or, like, for

0:24:16 > 0:24:18a big company you were with this morning...

0:24:18 > 0:24:23- Yeah.- And you were to slowly build up your food photography clientele.

0:24:23 > 0:24:26- Yeah.- I'm thinking, you know, the stars are starting to align here.

0:24:26 > 0:24:27Yeah, I think it'll work.

0:24:27 > 0:24:30- That's really positive. - Yeah, absolutely.

0:24:30 > 0:24:35After a fascinating day, Richard and Sioned meet to compare notes.

0:24:35 > 0:24:36So how did your morning go, then?

0:24:36 > 0:24:38It was really good. Did a bit of cooking so...

0:24:38 > 0:24:42- Oh, that's cool.- Yeah, it's similar in the fact that, you know,

0:24:42 > 0:24:45back at home, when we're in a development kitchen, you know,

0:24:45 > 0:24:47create recipes for customers.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50- Yeah.- So that was quite good to sort of understand.

0:24:50 > 0:24:54So what about the salary, is it better, worse, same?

0:24:54 > 0:24:55It's really good.

0:24:55 > 0:24:57It's...

0:24:57 > 0:25:02- Starting off, it would be around 80,000 to 100,000.- Wow!

0:25:02 > 0:25:05- That's, like, much more than we thought it was going to be.- Yeah.

0:25:05 > 0:25:07That takes a lot of the pressure off, then.

0:25:07 > 0:25:08So how did your day go? Was it good?

0:25:08 > 0:25:11- Did you have a good time?- Yeah, it was really good, actually.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13I met a guy, a photographer called Craig.

0:25:13 > 0:25:15- Yeah.- Who was... He was a lovely guy, actually.

0:25:15 > 0:25:19He said that it would be a really good idea if we worked together.

0:25:19 > 0:25:22So you as a food stylist and me as a photographer,

0:25:22 > 0:25:24he said that we would probably be quite in demand.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27- Oh, really? No way.- Obviously, you come as a package then.

0:25:27 > 0:25:30- Yeah.- So I'm feeling really positive.- Interesting.

0:25:31 > 0:25:34So, now it's time to ready, steady, vote.

0:25:40 > 0:25:41- BOTH:- Australia!

0:25:43 > 0:25:45I sort of knew that you were probably going to vote Australia

0:25:45 > 0:25:49because there would be no reason not to with that news.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Brilliant. So, I'm really happy.

0:25:56 > 0:26:00Halfway through their trial week, and it seems that Sioned is finding

0:26:00 > 0:26:03the right ingredients to make Richard's mouth water

0:26:03 > 0:26:06with the prospect of a move. However,

0:26:06 > 0:26:11with their reality check and messages from home still to come,

0:26:11 > 0:26:14things could all go bad very quickly.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17First, though, a day enjoying what Perth has to offer

0:26:17 > 0:26:19in the way of lifestyle

0:26:19 > 0:26:22and relaxation is now on the menu.

0:26:24 > 0:26:28The Young family are having a proper Aussie day trip to Rottnest Island

0:26:28 > 0:26:31where the adventure begins with a short ferry ride.

0:26:32 > 0:26:34Just off the coast of Freemantle,

0:26:34 > 0:26:38Rottnest is renowned for its pristine beaches and no-cars policy.

0:26:38 > 0:26:42- Amazing.- Wow, how cool is this?

0:26:44 > 0:26:47This looks awesome. This is cool, isn't it, Alexa?

0:26:47 > 0:26:50Once they arrive, they set off to explore the island.

0:26:51 > 0:26:56- Oh, wow. Yeah, see the sea. - Can you see Perth over here?

0:26:59 > 0:27:03And at last, the family get to hit the beach for a paddle and a play.

0:27:06 > 0:27:08What would we be doing back at home?

0:27:08 > 0:27:09Sitting inside.

0:27:09 > 0:27:12My mum said it was chucking down.

0:27:12 > 0:27:15It's not long until they discover some of the Rottnest residents.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24A spot of bird-watching has the family feeling peckish.

0:27:26 > 0:27:30Right, time to see some more of the island and get those legs in action.

0:27:34 > 0:27:38The family saddle up for a bike ride to check out the wildlife.

0:27:39 > 0:27:41Right, guys, let's go and find some quokkas.

0:27:41 > 0:27:43No, Richard hasn't made that up.

0:27:43 > 0:27:46The quokka, dubbed the world's happiest animal,

0:27:46 > 0:27:50comes from the kangaroo family and is native to Western Australia.

0:27:50 > 0:27:53Yeah, look at the quokkas.

0:27:53 > 0:27:54Wow, look at them.

0:27:58 > 0:28:00- Pretty cool, isn't it? - You can do it!

0:28:00 > 0:28:04And it's off on foot to find their furry friends.

0:28:05 > 0:28:08- They're everywhere, aren't they? - Look.- Oh, he's a nice guy.

0:28:08 > 0:28:10Quokka. He's cute, isn't he?

0:28:10 > 0:28:13It's been an action-packed day,

0:28:13 > 0:28:16but also a chance to reflect on how their week is progressing.

0:28:16 > 0:28:19I'm feeling actually really relaxed.

0:28:19 > 0:28:22I think that Australia has had a really positive impact

0:28:22 > 0:28:25on both Rich and I. Our lives back in the UK were always going

0:28:25 > 0:28:27at a million miles an hour,

0:28:27 > 0:28:31whereas here, in Australia, it feels like people take it much slower.

0:28:32 > 0:28:37Being here is like, it is like changing my mind quite a lot.

0:28:37 > 0:28:40It's all sort of making sense to me,

0:28:40 > 0:28:44you know, why she's so keen on the move.

0:28:44 > 0:28:46And what do the children think?

0:28:46 > 0:28:48I like it a lot.

0:28:48 > 0:28:53We like all the, like, the nature and all the animals going round.

0:28:53 > 0:28:58And how there's like loads of parks and it's like, quite hot and sunny.

0:28:58 > 0:29:00I think I'd definitely like to live here one day.

0:29:00 > 0:29:03Alexa, however, might need some persuading.

0:29:04 > 0:29:08- I'd miss all my friends.- She said she'd miss all her friends.

0:29:08 > 0:29:11And Richard's thoughts turn to his parents.

0:29:11 > 0:29:14I sort of started to think then

0:29:14 > 0:29:17how they must be feeling about, you know...

0:29:19 > 0:29:21..myself, Sioned and, you know,

0:29:21 > 0:29:24their grandkids moving so far away from them.

0:29:24 > 0:29:26I feel quite sort of...

0:29:28 > 0:29:31..sad, you know, that they won't get to see them grow up, but

0:29:31 > 0:29:33I think, at the same time,

0:29:33 > 0:29:36they understand that, you know, the kids are going to have,

0:29:36 > 0:29:39you know, a great future if we do move out to Australia,

0:29:39 > 0:29:41and I think that

0:29:41 > 0:29:43they would be upset, but they'd understand.

0:29:44 > 0:29:46Sioned was hoping being down under

0:29:46 > 0:29:50would help her feel spiritually closer to her mum.

0:29:50 > 0:29:54I guess when you imagine something, it perhaps is...

0:29:54 > 0:29:55It's perfect then, isn't it?

0:29:55 > 0:29:59You imagine you go to this place and then it's going to be as if they're

0:29:59 > 0:30:01with you. And I guess that just hasn't happened.

0:30:01 > 0:30:05But it hasn't...it hasn't made me feel negative about Australia.

0:30:05 > 0:30:08I mean, I'm so glad that she said all those things to me

0:30:08 > 0:30:11and kind of made me want to come over here,

0:30:11 > 0:30:12because it is the right place for us,

0:30:12 > 0:30:15I know it is the right place for us.

0:30:15 > 0:30:18So I'll be forever grateful for her coming over to Australia and falling

0:30:18 > 0:30:21in love with it, cos I do too.

0:30:22 > 0:30:26So will today tempt them to stay or leave?

0:30:39 > 0:30:41- ALL:- Australia!

0:30:43 > 0:30:47- That's home.- I like home.- Aw!

0:30:47 > 0:30:49Why have you voted for the UK, Alexa?

0:30:49 > 0:30:51- You just like home more?- Yeah?- Yeah?

0:30:51 > 0:30:53That's OK, that's fine.

0:30:53 > 0:30:57You know, I'm starting to really enjoy being out here.

0:30:57 > 0:31:01I can just, like, see us, you know, really having a great life out here.

0:31:01 > 0:31:02Same.

0:31:06 > 0:31:10With both Millie and Richard sold on the Aussie lifestyle,

0:31:10 > 0:31:12Sioned's dream is well on course.

0:31:12 > 0:31:15But for the life down under to become a reality,

0:31:15 > 0:31:17the figures will have to add up.

0:31:17 > 0:31:20First, they compare the weekly food shop.

0:31:20 > 0:31:23What's this one? Smoked back bacon.

0:31:23 > 0:31:29So it's £2.59 in the UK, £7.68 here, for the same pack.

0:31:29 > 0:31:30Whoa. What about nappies?

0:31:30 > 0:31:33So, one pack of nappies £6.49 here,

0:31:33 > 0:31:37so a good £3.10 more.

0:31:37 > 0:31:39Yes, my wine is cheaper!

0:31:39 > 0:31:41That's awesome. £3 cheaper for wine.

0:31:41 > 0:31:43OK, so I could swap bacon for wine.

0:31:43 > 0:31:46- I'm OK with that. - So when they tally it up...

0:31:47 > 0:31:52That's £88.35 more expensive every week.

0:31:54 > 0:31:57- That's...- That's a ridiculous amount of money!

0:31:57 > 0:32:00- Massive amount, isn't it? - That's quite a difference.

0:32:00 > 0:32:02So how will the bigger bills measure up?

0:32:04 > 0:32:08- BOTH:- Mortgage.- In the UK is 700.

0:32:08 > 0:32:12Australia is 856.

0:32:12 > 0:32:14856. Like, that's our dream home.

0:32:14 > 0:32:18- Yeah, yeah.- So we could have that house with a pool,

0:32:18 > 0:32:21- all of that outside space, and we're paying 156 more.- Yeah.

0:32:21 > 0:32:26That's crazy. 15 we pay for home insurance in the UK.

0:32:26 > 0:32:28- What are we on?- BOTH:- 51?!

0:32:28 > 0:32:29- Wow.- That's a lot, isn't it?

0:32:29 > 0:32:31The calculations are not good news.

0:32:33 > 0:32:38So that's £830.50 more per month

0:32:38 > 0:32:40to do our life in Australia.

0:32:42 > 0:32:44- It's a lot, isn't it? - That is phenomenal.

0:32:44 > 0:32:46- That's like an income. That's like another income.- Yeah.

0:32:46 > 0:32:49That's a huge amount. That's not looking great, is it?

0:32:49 > 0:32:50The figures come as a shock,

0:32:50 > 0:32:54but they still have to factor in their Aussie earnings.

0:32:54 > 0:32:55Get to work!

0:32:56 > 0:32:59Wow. That's a difference of

0:32:59 > 0:33:04£2,895.

0:33:06 > 0:33:09That's more than your entire income at home.

0:33:09 > 0:33:12We're more than doubling our household income.

0:33:12 > 0:33:13When do we move?

0:33:15 > 0:33:22We're better off by £2,064.50 per month.

0:33:24 > 0:33:25That's just crazy.

0:33:27 > 0:33:31It doesn't seem right, that, does it? But obviously, you know,

0:33:31 > 0:33:34we've worked it all out, and it is, and it's just like...

0:33:34 > 0:33:37That's... That is unbelievable. I'm like kind of...

0:33:37 > 0:33:39- I'm shaking.- ..shaking. - I feel like I'm shaking!

0:33:40 > 0:33:43Place your bets on which way this vote will go.

0:33:49 > 0:33:51- BOTH:- Australia.

0:33:53 > 0:33:55- I'm not surprised.- No. Not at all.

0:33:55 > 0:34:00I think it just makes sense, doesn't it, for us to come out here?

0:34:00 > 0:34:02- It would be crazy to vote any other way.- Yeah.

0:34:07 > 0:34:09So far, it seems Richard has been won over by the life

0:34:09 > 0:34:11they could have in Australia,

0:34:11 > 0:34:14but there's one final hurdle to overcome.

0:34:14 > 0:34:17He's always made it clear leaving his family behind

0:34:17 > 0:34:19would be particularly painful for him.

0:34:19 > 0:34:20While Felix takes a nap,

0:34:20 > 0:34:24the rest of the family watch messages from loved ones back home.

0:34:24 > 0:34:25I just feel like, I don't know,

0:34:25 > 0:34:28- kind of nervous to watch it, I guess.- Yeah.

0:34:28 > 0:34:30And... Butterflies.

0:34:30 > 0:34:33- FAMILY:- Hi, guys!

0:34:33 > 0:34:36Hi. It's Guag-guag.

0:34:36 > 0:34:38- BOTH:- Hi, guys.- You all right?

0:34:38 > 0:34:39Hope you have a nice time.

0:34:39 > 0:34:40Hi.

0:34:41 > 0:34:45Since the time that her mum, Sue, my partner, died,

0:34:45 > 0:34:49Sioned has really shone.

0:34:49 > 0:34:51And, you know,

0:34:51 > 0:34:53one can only have tremendous admiration

0:34:53 > 0:34:57for one who ends up as Sioned has done, you know, achieving so much.

0:34:58 > 0:35:01I am tremendously proud of her.

0:35:01 > 0:35:05Well, Richard, he is really kind and caring, and such a good dad.

0:35:05 > 0:35:07- He is very much...- Mother hen.

0:35:07 > 0:35:10Mother hen with the kids when they are out and about.

0:35:10 > 0:35:13She started talking about Australia,

0:35:13 > 0:35:14well, since I've known her, really.

0:35:14 > 0:35:16It's always been on her mind,

0:35:16 > 0:35:19always something that she has wanted to do,

0:35:19 > 0:35:20but things have got in the way.

0:35:20 > 0:35:22When she was ill,

0:35:22 > 0:35:25her mum went over and found it a really special place,

0:35:25 > 0:35:28and I think that has influenced Sioned quite a lot.

0:35:30 > 0:35:32Richard doesn't really talk about it a lot.

0:35:32 > 0:35:35- No, he doesn't. - Sioned will talk to us more.

0:35:35 > 0:35:38I think Richard is trying to protect our feelings.

0:35:39 > 0:35:44Because he knows how close we are to him.

0:35:44 > 0:35:46And it will be a huge loss.

0:35:46 > 0:35:48- Yeah.- You know.

0:35:48 > 0:35:51It would be a bit selfish of me to say, you know, "You can't go,

0:35:51 > 0:35:53"because we need you here."

0:35:53 > 0:35:55I will certainly miss the...

0:35:57 > 0:36:00..the spontaneous contact that I can have with them currently.

0:36:00 > 0:36:04Which will obviously disappear when they are out there.

0:36:04 > 0:36:07You know, walk down the road, holding hands or whatever.

0:36:07 > 0:36:10I'll probably miss the liveliness of when they're over at our house.

0:36:10 > 0:36:12It is all really chaotic.

0:36:14 > 0:36:16And I love chaotic.

0:36:16 > 0:36:18Yeah. Chaotic's fun!

0:36:19 > 0:36:20I think it depends on...

0:36:22 > 0:36:25..how he feels about being halfway around the planet

0:36:25 > 0:36:29from his mum and dad and his sister and his friends.

0:36:29 > 0:36:32- You know, we'll miss loads of things.- Yeah.

0:36:32 > 0:36:33But mainly seeing them grow up.

0:36:33 > 0:36:35Yeah.

0:36:35 > 0:36:36- You know.- Yeah.

0:36:36 > 0:36:40But we're not going to be here for ever, are we?

0:36:40 > 0:36:41No. No, we're not.

0:36:41 > 0:36:44No. And we wouldn't object at all, would we?

0:36:44 > 0:36:45- No.- It's just...

0:36:48 > 0:36:50What we are left with, isn't it?

0:36:50 > 0:36:52Pictures, memories.

0:36:52 > 0:36:56- Yeah.- It is very difficult, and it does, you know, there is a big gap.

0:36:57 > 0:37:00But then after losing Mum,

0:37:00 > 0:37:02you still know that they're there and they're happy,

0:37:02 > 0:37:04and that is all you want for people that you love.

0:37:04 > 0:37:07So it is a loss in a different way.

0:37:07 > 0:37:09But it is OK. It is an OK loss.

0:37:11 > 0:37:15We obviously are going to miss you greatly if you do go.

0:37:15 > 0:37:18But again, you've got to do exactly what is right for you and the

0:37:18 > 0:37:20- children.- We will always be here for you,

0:37:20 > 0:37:22and you can come back whenever you want to,

0:37:22 > 0:37:24but just do what you want to.

0:37:25 > 0:37:29This is a golden opportunity, just go for it.

0:37:29 > 0:37:32There will be challenges, there will be difficulties.

0:37:32 > 0:37:35There will be hurdles that you'll have to overcome.

0:37:35 > 0:37:37But think about the benefits.

0:37:38 > 0:37:41So I wish you every success.

0:37:42 > 0:37:44We love you loads.

0:37:44 > 0:37:48We just hope that you make the right decisions,

0:37:48 > 0:37:53and we will miss you more than anything if you did go.

0:37:53 > 0:37:57Millie, I think we will always be best friends

0:37:57 > 0:37:59throughout our whole life.

0:37:59 > 0:38:02So do what makes you happy.

0:38:03 > 0:38:05I hope the weather is fine for you.

0:38:05 > 0:38:09Lots to do. Miss you so much over here, though.

0:38:09 > 0:38:12So when you go for turning those little cards,

0:38:12 > 0:38:14make sure it's the right turn.

0:38:14 > 0:38:17THEY LAUGH

0:38:19 > 0:38:21That was pretty tough.

0:38:21 > 0:38:22I think it just hits home...

0:38:23 > 0:38:26- ..what you are losing, doesn't it? - Yeah.

0:38:27 > 0:38:29- Sorry.- It's all right.

0:38:34 > 0:38:36Chin up.

0:38:43 > 0:38:47At the start of the week, Sioned had one mission -

0:38:47 > 0:38:51to convince her husband that they could have as good a life,

0:38:51 > 0:38:54if not better, in Australia.

0:38:54 > 0:38:58Now, as they prepare to make their long trip back to Wales,

0:38:58 > 0:39:01it's time to see if she succeeded.

0:39:01 > 0:39:07Or will they be craving for the green, green grass of home?

0:39:07 > 0:39:10The trial week has left Sioned in no doubt

0:39:10 > 0:39:12where her family's future lies.

0:39:12 > 0:39:16I am probably feeling more sure now than I was back in the UK,

0:39:16 > 0:39:19that this is the right place for us.

0:39:19 > 0:39:21And Richard's eyes have been opened, too.

0:39:23 > 0:39:27I was obviously...unsure at the beginning.

0:39:27 > 0:39:32But now I just...I don't see why we would want to...

0:39:33 > 0:39:35..choose a life back at home.

0:39:35 > 0:39:40Of course, friends and family would be greatly missed.

0:39:40 > 0:39:43It does make you think twice, because it's not just about money.

0:39:43 > 0:39:46You know, life is not just about money, is it?

0:39:46 > 0:39:49It is about who you choose to share it with.

0:39:49 > 0:39:54And I know this is definitely the right place for me and my family.

0:39:54 > 0:39:56You know, it is a lot to leave behind.

0:39:56 > 0:39:59You know, we are leaving really special people behind.

0:39:59 > 0:40:01And that's hard. That is a difficult thing.

0:40:01 > 0:40:07For me, that was one of my sort of main worries, that, you know,

0:40:07 > 0:40:10my mum and dad wouldn't get to see the kids grow up.

0:40:10 > 0:40:14You know, they obviously care about the kids as much as we do.

0:40:14 > 0:40:16And they want the best for them.

0:40:17 > 0:40:20They'd miss us, of course, yeah, and, you know, I'd miss them,

0:40:20 > 0:40:23but they'd understand why we want to do it.

0:40:24 > 0:40:29Millie also can't stop thinking about who she'd be leaving behind.

0:40:29 > 0:40:32Like, my cousin Ewan, I think he wants me to go,

0:40:32 > 0:40:34but at the same time, he doesn't want me to go

0:40:34 > 0:40:38cos we won't see each other, like, every day,

0:40:38 > 0:40:40because we go to school together.

0:40:40 > 0:40:43So that would be a big change.

0:40:44 > 0:40:46And Alexa is still unsure.

0:40:48 > 0:40:54Do you think leaving and coming here would be a good idea?

0:40:55 > 0:40:56After all we have done?

0:40:56 > 0:40:57Do you think it's what you'd want?

0:40:57 > 0:40:59Like... Is it a good idea?

0:41:02 > 0:41:04You don't know yet?

0:41:09 > 0:41:12Sioned's thoughts, meanwhile, are turning to her own mum.

0:41:13 > 0:41:15It is funny, because it was...

0:41:16 > 0:41:19..I don't know, maybe about 15 years ago that she was here.

0:41:22 > 0:41:25So, yeah, being able to share something with her in that way,

0:41:25 > 0:41:27you know, obviously not at the same time...

0:41:30 > 0:41:32..but that's pretty special, I guess.
