0:00:02 > 0:00:04Seeing her daughter Emily deal with cerebral palsy

0:00:04 > 0:00:07has inspired Nicola to be brave about her dream of living down under.

0:00:07 > 0:00:11Every day when I wake up, it's the first thing I think of.

0:00:11 > 0:00:15When I go to bed at night, it's the last thing I think of.

0:00:15 > 0:00:19But husband Mark knows the road ahead could be a difficult one.

0:00:19 > 0:00:24Not to be given that opportunity because your daughter has a disability,

0:00:24 > 0:00:25it's hard to take.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29A trial week in Perth sees the Newton family experience

0:00:29 > 0:00:32the lifestyle that could transform their daughter's life.

0:00:32 > 0:00:37But will they even be able to afford to turn the dream into a reality?

0:00:37 > 0:00:40All my qualifications don't count for anything.

0:00:40 > 0:00:42- Right.- At all.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07Its warm climate, and national passion for leisure and sport,

0:01:07 > 0:01:10and one of the highest rates of pool ownership in the world,

0:01:10 > 0:01:14characterise Australia's love affair with the outdoors -

0:01:14 > 0:01:18a culture that has proven irresistible to over 30,000 Brits

0:01:18 > 0:01:20who make the move there every year.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24The Newton family has reached a stage in their lives

0:01:24 > 0:01:29where they need to decide where their long-term future lies.

0:01:29 > 0:01:32For Mum Nicola, it is the romance of Australia.

0:01:32 > 0:01:36Dad Mark, however, is a lot more cautious.

0:01:36 > 0:01:40Across one week, they'll get to see the sort of life that could lead

0:01:40 > 0:01:44and afford if they relocated down under,

0:01:44 > 0:01:47before voting on whether to make the move.

0:01:47 > 0:01:51Will the Newtons throw caution to the warm Perth wind?

0:01:53 > 0:01:58To get from the UK to Perth has taken the Newtons over 20 hours in the air.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Let's hope the long flight hasn't put them off.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05I were dreading it. This time - fantastic.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08They played games, watched videos and slept.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10Well, that's a great start.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14In fact, if anyone's feeling the strain it's Mum.

0:02:14 > 0:02:15I'm looking forward to it.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Very apprehensive at what the week will bring,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20but obviously day by day we'll get to find out

0:02:20 > 0:02:24more and more information about hopefully living in Perth.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29And the children, what are they looking forward to?

0:02:29 > 0:02:30To see the kangaroos.

0:02:30 > 0:02:33- Kangaroos.- Yeah, the kookaburras and the kangaroos.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Dad, however, has slightly more than the wildlife on his mind.

0:02:37 > 0:02:41We'll just have to see the work balance and see what it's like to

0:02:41 > 0:02:43work and actually to live out here.

0:02:43 > 0:02:47Hopefully the week ahead can fulfil everyone's expectations.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53Meet the Newton family.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55They are Dad Mark, Mum Nicola, and

0:02:55 > 0:02:58twins Emily and Harrison, aged nine.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02They live in Bradford, West Yorkshire,

0:03:02 > 0:03:06where on a daily basis they are proving opposites attract.

0:03:06 > 0:03:11- Chalk and cheese, definitely. - I'm more reserved. She's...

0:03:11 > 0:03:14It just seems to work at the moment.

0:03:14 > 0:03:15Don't know how long for.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17- SHE LAUGHS - Thanks(!)

0:03:19 > 0:03:24The idea of travelling has always been an itch Nicola wanted to scratch.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26With me, repping abroad,

0:03:26 > 0:03:30I've always been interested in long-haul destinations,

0:03:30 > 0:03:33and because I've got a great aunt and uncle over there

0:03:33 > 0:03:35and they've come over quite a bit,

0:03:35 > 0:03:37I've always taken a shine to Australia,

0:03:37 > 0:03:40Perth in particular, where they are.

0:03:40 > 0:03:44Falling in love with Mark, however, put pay to those dreams.

0:03:44 > 0:03:49Within the year we first met, she was pregnant...

0:03:49 > 0:03:50That, that was planned.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55Was it?

0:03:55 > 0:03:58And then we found out it were twins, so...

0:03:58 > 0:04:02- Yeah.- It was just, everything got put back on a back burner.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06But it soon became clear that something wasn't quite right

0:04:06 > 0:04:09when daughter Emily's development was slower than her brother's.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13She has cerebral palsy. But it's a mild form of it.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17We didn't know about Emily's disability or anything

0:04:17 > 0:04:22until she were nearly a year old, but she didn't hit her milestones

0:04:22 > 0:04:24and Harrison was doing.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27So...and she was twin one. She was the first one out.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30They all would say, "Twin one's normally the perfect child.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33"It's twin two." But...

0:04:33 > 0:04:36Harrison is the cheeky one.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Emily, she's lovely.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42But, yeah, she seems to have got all the problems, but she's lovely.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46- Wouldn't change her.- No, I wouldn't.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49However, now that Emily is making great progress,

0:04:49 > 0:04:54the experience of the last few years has resurrected a long-held dream for Nicola,

0:04:54 > 0:04:56and Australia is back on the agenda.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59You always want more in life, don't you?

0:04:59 > 0:05:01You always want what you don't have.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03My life is good at the moment.

0:05:03 > 0:05:06I work part-time, my husband's full-time.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08But he is working more and more hours,

0:05:08 > 0:05:10and sometimes the kids don't see him that much,

0:05:10 > 0:05:14especially if he's getting home at eight or nine o'clock at night.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18And it seems she might have got the children on side, too.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20We could get a swimming pool.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22And we could go to different schools and that.

0:05:22 > 0:05:27I would like to live in Australia and in England.

0:05:27 > 0:05:28- BOTH:- UK!

0:05:28 > 0:05:30LAUGHTER

0:05:30 > 0:05:35Daddy, however, is more cautious about moving his family across the world.

0:05:35 > 0:05:39A lot of the times, Nicola don't realise...

0:05:39 > 0:05:41She thinks everything's straightforward, but...

0:05:43 > 0:05:48..with the Australian system and how they are to

0:05:48 > 0:05:53people being a burden on their society, I think it's hard.

0:05:53 > 0:05:57If you love it and then all of a sudden because of Emily and that,

0:05:57 > 0:06:01we can't stay, it's going to be heart-wrenching to come back here,

0:06:01 > 0:06:03even for the kids.

0:06:03 > 0:06:09Not that Nicola is totally ignoring the practicalities altogether, of course.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12My main worry is the schooling for Emily.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16Whether there is a school that meets our needs.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21You know, or would she go into a mainstream with a bit of help.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23We don't know. That's one thing we've tried to look into,

0:06:23 > 0:06:26and we haven't really had anything back off it.

0:06:26 > 0:06:31When all is said and done, however, Nicola remains a mum on a mission.

0:06:31 > 0:06:36You've got to grab life with both hands, I think.

0:06:36 > 0:06:38And we don't seem to have been doing that.

0:06:38 > 0:06:43We just seem to be letting stuff just drift by, just plodding along.

0:06:43 > 0:06:47And when we go, it'll either open the door or close the door,

0:06:47 > 0:06:49and if it's closed, then it's closed.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52- I've got to accept it. - My life would be a nightmare.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03For the trial week in Australia, the Newtons will be staying in Rockingham,

0:07:03 > 0:07:07a city half an hour south of Perth and well-known for its fabulous climate.

0:07:09 > 0:07:13Their temporary home is in the popular family suburb of Warnbro,

0:07:13 > 0:07:15five miles south of Rockingham city centre.

0:07:15 > 0:07:17There's a pool!

0:07:17 > 0:07:19CHILDREN SHOUT

0:07:21 > 0:07:25And after a long journey, they are ready for a bit of rest and relaxation.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28- Oh, I love Perth. - Swimming pool!

0:07:28 > 0:07:30Not to mention a brew.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32Yeah, it's nice.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35Don't think we'll be able to afford it, though.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38Have to wait and see.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40While the twins chill out,

0:07:40 > 0:07:45Nicola and Mark contemplate what will be a massive week for the family.

0:07:45 > 0:07:50Still concerned, but hopefully this week we'll find out about the work

0:07:50 > 0:07:53situation and visas and see what happens and take it from there.

0:07:53 > 0:07:57Yeah. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, isn't it?

0:07:57 > 0:07:59Yeah. Pieces just need putting together.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01Somehow, some way.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03Fingers crossed, it all works out for us.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06Yeah. Well, legs, toes, everything's crossed.

0:08:08 > 0:08:10Oh, my Lordy. I got a cuppa!

0:08:10 > 0:08:12Last one.

0:08:20 > 0:08:24Back in the UK, the Newton family live in a three-bedroom detached

0:08:24 > 0:08:27bungalow, which helps Emily get around easier.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31But has proved a big hit with the family, too.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33We've just adapted to a bungalow life.

0:08:33 > 0:08:37I love it. It's no steps, it's...

0:08:37 > 0:08:42- I do love it.- I can't quite think of living in a house with stairs now.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44- No.- We've adapted to it, really good, haven't we?- Yeah.

0:08:44 > 0:08:48It's fair to say it's been a labour of love.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51Spent the time over winter just doing the house, putting the kitchen in.

0:08:51 > 0:08:54Bathroom. Everything I've done myself. So...

0:08:54 > 0:08:58You've never done anything... You've never done anything like that before, have you?

0:08:58 > 0:09:01- No.- You've done really well. I'm proud of you.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04The couple have a budget of £250,000.

0:09:04 > 0:09:08So what would they hope to get for their money down under?

0:09:08 > 0:09:09I just love the bungalow.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13- Yeah.- Just the type of houses, open-plan.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16I think it's perfect for Emily, just to run about, walk about.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19There's no steps to have to worry about her.

0:09:21 > 0:09:23A bigger kitchen/diner.

0:09:23 > 0:09:24We've got a small kitchen here.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26I mean, Nicola don't cook.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29I do all the cooking and that.

0:09:30 > 0:09:32Obviously everybody wants it close to the beach...

0:09:32 > 0:09:36- To the beach.- Close to...parks.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39Shops and everything.

0:09:39 > 0:09:41But my number one would be a pool.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44But both are aware of the risks.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48If it doesn't work, then we could have lost everything in England,

0:09:48 > 0:09:51obviously if we sell up, we would come home with nothing.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53It is a massive gamble.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55Which I'm willing to take.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59But when it comes down to it, would I go?

0:09:59 > 0:10:01There's no two ways about it.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03If I said, "Right, I've got you a ticket,"

0:10:03 > 0:10:05your bags would be packed and you would be gone.

0:10:08 > 0:10:10- Yeah. - There is a lot to think about.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13There is a lot to think about.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16To find out what they could get for their money in the Rockingham area,

0:10:16 > 0:10:19we'll show them three properties.

0:10:19 > 0:10:22After they've seen each house, we'll reveal how much it costs.

0:10:23 > 0:10:27The search begins in Hillman, a well-established suburb of Rockingham.

0:10:27 > 0:10:31What will the Newtons make of this five-bedroom family home?

0:10:32 > 0:10:35First impressions, as they pull up outside, are good.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37It's very modern.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39- Cool!- It's nice.

0:10:39 > 0:10:42Shall we go have a look inside, then?

0:10:42 > 0:10:44- CHILDREN:- Yes! - Come on, then.

0:10:45 > 0:10:49Through the front door and it is a traditional feel inside.

0:10:49 > 0:10:50- What do you think?- Cool.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54- It's a nice little living area. - Yeah, it is.

0:10:54 > 0:10:57More of an older house, but it's lovely.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01The open-dining feel is something that pleasantly surprises everyone.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04I like the way that it's split-level.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10Into the main bedroom now, and this place is really impressing.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12- Oh, wow.- Oh, wow!

0:11:12 > 0:11:16Look at the size of that for a master bedroom.

0:11:16 > 0:11:19- Look, an en-suite. - Wow!

0:11:21 > 0:11:24Although Mark has just put his finger on the first niggle.

0:11:24 > 0:11:28Some of the rooms just feel dark, don't feel enough light.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32Next up, a room they don't have back home.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34Oh, great. A separate utility room.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37- Wow!- Something what you'll never use cos you don't clean.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41If I came to Australia, I'd clean.

0:11:41 > 0:11:43Ah, bribery, I don't know.

0:11:44 > 0:11:47The family bathroom is the next space to be inspected,

0:11:47 > 0:11:49and it's got Mark scratching his head.

0:11:49 > 0:11:53I still can't get over the bath's right low down there below ground level.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55But how comfortable is it?

0:11:57 > 0:11:59Look at that. Looks like a coffin.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02LAUGHTER

0:12:02 > 0:12:05If the family really want to splash about, though, well,

0:12:05 > 0:12:07never mind the bath.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10There is a pool. That is what we wanted, isn't it?

0:12:10 > 0:12:12It is bigger than what you think, this house.

0:12:12 > 0:12:13It has got a lot of potential.

0:12:13 > 0:12:16I like this house. I really want to buy this house.

0:12:16 > 0:12:20- I like it.- EMILY: Yeah. - It is perfect, isn't it, Em? - Oh, yeah.- Outside space.

0:12:20 > 0:12:24It's clear this house has surprised and charmed everyone.

0:12:24 > 0:12:28It looks small from the outside, but when you get in, it's like a maze, isn't it?

0:12:28 > 0:12:34Time to see if they could afford it, and by the sounds of it, they really want to.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37I think for an older type of house I am really surprised.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40I think the bedrooms are a little bit small for the kids,

0:12:40 > 0:12:43but the outdoor space just makes up for it.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46- Do you think it's below our budget? - Above budget or below?

0:12:46 > 0:12:48EMILY: I think it's above.

0:12:48 > 0:12:52I'm hoping it's below, and then there's big room for improvement.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54I'm turning over.

0:12:56 > 0:13:00Oh, it's bang on budget, £250,000.

0:13:00 > 0:13:07A bit disappointed, cos that is the budget we had, and it's 250 then.

0:13:07 > 0:13:11- We won't have much...- Don't really have room for improvements.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13But at least it's not over budget.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16With the twins feeling the pace,

0:13:16 > 0:13:20Mark and Nicola leave them with the childminder and travel on alone to property two.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26It's in the Port Kennedy area, a beach-side suburb which also

0:13:26 > 0:13:30boasts a golf course and is around 40 miles south of Perth.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34As they pull up to the front drive, it's clear this four-bedroom home

0:13:34 > 0:13:38has more immediate kerb appeal than the last property.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41Oh, it's a lot nicer than the other house.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43It looks a lot beautiful... More modern.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46I like the... that it's got a very quiet cul-de-sac

0:13:46 > 0:13:49and the park's literally just round the corner, isn't it?

0:13:49 > 0:13:51- Shall we go have a look in?- Yeah.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55Inside, the wow factor continues.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57Oh, wow. Look at this!

0:13:58 > 0:14:00Again, all open-plan.

0:14:03 > 0:14:06- I like this.- I like it. It's got a good feel to it.

0:14:07 > 0:14:10And there's just one thing that's dividing them at the moment.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12What do you think about the brickwork?

0:14:12 > 0:14:15I don't like. The old house had that as well, the other house.

0:14:15 > 0:14:16- Don't you?- No.- I like it.

0:14:16 > 0:14:18Into the main bedroom.

0:14:18 > 0:14:22- Oh, wow.- It's smaller but newer than the last room.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25What I like about it is it's really quirky.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29It's not just a, you know, box - standard square.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32You're dancing there - big fish, little fish.

0:14:32 > 0:14:35And what about where the twins will sleep?

0:14:35 > 0:14:37Oh. This would be Emily's room, wouldn't it?

0:14:38 > 0:14:41I think the bedroom space for the kids,

0:14:41 > 0:14:43you're not going to get a single...

0:14:43 > 0:14:47- No.- Bigger than a single, but I don't think you're going to get doubles.- Yeah.

0:14:47 > 0:14:51Oh, yeah. This is the fourth bedroom, a spare bedroom.

0:14:51 > 0:14:52This will be Harrison's room.

0:14:52 > 0:14:56We'll keep the small one for... You will always have a junk room.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59You have too much rubbish.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01What a cheek!

0:15:01 > 0:15:03And talking of cheeks - the bathroom.

0:15:03 > 0:15:07But it seems to be missing one small feature.

0:15:07 > 0:15:10- This is nice.- There's no toilet. Where's the toilet?

0:15:12 > 0:15:14- Oh, look. It's there.- Huh?

0:15:14 > 0:15:15Eh?

0:15:15 > 0:15:19- In with the utility.- Eh?

0:15:19 > 0:15:21No, I want my toilet in my bathroom.

0:15:23 > 0:15:27Outside, meanwhile, is as impressive as the inside.

0:15:27 > 0:15:28Fantastic space area.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33And again, with that all-important pool.

0:15:33 > 0:15:36- This is beautiful.- Barbecue there.

0:15:36 > 0:15:37Yeah. You've got your grass.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39I didn't think we would have grass, thought it would be smaller.

0:15:39 > 0:15:42Harrison would be able to play football over there.

0:15:42 > 0:15:43Yeah, this is brilliant.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46This house is really giving them both food for thought.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48It's so quiet. You don't hear people.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50All you hear is animals and birds.

0:15:50 > 0:15:52This has been a big hit with the Newtons,

0:15:52 > 0:15:57but can they afford it on their £250,000 budget?

0:15:57 > 0:15:59Moment of truth.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01What do you think, then? I really like the house.

0:16:01 > 0:16:03I think it's amazing.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05I think it's more compact.

0:16:05 > 0:16:07I think the outdoor space is a lot better,

0:16:07 > 0:16:10but I think this is way over our budget.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12- So, see how much it is, then? - Yeah.- All right.- Are you ready?

0:16:14 > 0:16:17One, two, three...

0:16:19 > 0:16:20No way!

0:16:22 > 0:16:26It's same as the other. Oh, my goodness.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28I'm shaking.

0:16:29 > 0:16:30What do you think?

0:16:32 > 0:16:33I'm gobsmacked.

0:16:35 > 0:16:36Can we have it?

0:16:41 > 0:16:43- It is amazing. - I don't know what to say.

0:16:43 > 0:16:45Oh, can't believe it.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48I think they've just put that there. I think its way over our budget.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51Bang on budget, much better than the last house.

0:16:52 > 0:16:56- I want to sign for this. - I...

0:16:57 > 0:17:00Everything is against us. That's the problem.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05- You have to make it work.- Oh.

0:17:06 > 0:17:09- I would love to live in a house like this.- Oh.- But...

0:17:11 > 0:17:13I'm always... I don't think it will happen.

0:17:14 > 0:17:17Is it possible the final property could top this one?

0:17:17 > 0:17:19It's located in Waikiki, a popular area

0:17:19 > 0:17:24only a couple of miles from the beach and an hour's drive from Perth.

0:17:24 > 0:17:28This four-bedroom modern house is bound to impress.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30- It's nice.- It's very swish.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33It is very swish, but it don't look big, again.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37From the outside. I think this will be right modern.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39- Yeah.- This will be right up my street.

0:17:39 > 0:17:42And inside, things get even better.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45Good grief, this is massive.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47Wow. This is beautiful.

0:17:47 > 0:17:50- This is you.- I see myself behind here.

0:17:50 > 0:17:51I like the kitchen.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55That's where you are, in the kitchen.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00The main bedroom is BIG.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03Wow. It's massive.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05Even a patio outside.

0:18:05 > 0:18:09With a special treat just outside.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11Yeah. You've even got a hot tub.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13- Hot tub.- Your own hot tub.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15Oh! I feel as though I'm back home already.

0:18:15 > 0:18:18And after you've had a soak, you'll need somewhere to change.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20- Found something else.- Oh, wow.

0:18:20 > 0:18:24Look at this. A big walk-in wardrobe.

0:18:24 > 0:18:25And en-suite.

0:18:25 > 0:18:27Well, it seems perfect for Mum and Dad,

0:18:27 > 0:18:29but what about the twins?

0:18:30 > 0:18:31This is a nice single.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34Oh, this is lovely. Harrison would love that.

0:18:34 > 0:18:40- It is a big size. Another double. A double room.- A really good size.

0:18:40 > 0:18:44And there's one thing that will definitely get Emily and Harrison excited.

0:18:44 > 0:18:45A cinema room.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50Looks like everybody has one of these, don't they, in Australia?

0:18:51 > 0:18:54And outside, well, this place has it all.

0:18:55 > 0:18:59- Oh, this is a nice space, isn't it? - It's a nice outdoor area.

0:19:00 > 0:19:05There's also that all-important dream feature for Nicola.

0:19:05 > 0:19:06Oh, a pool!

0:19:06 > 0:19:09Wow, I didn't think you would get a pool with a new house.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11It's almost the ideal home,

0:19:11 > 0:19:16but will it be hugely over their £250,000 budget?

0:19:16 > 0:19:22I cannot believe the space and the size of the houses that we can get for our money.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25I've been really surprised with the outdoor space we can have.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28That's just blown me away. What do you think it's worth?

0:19:29 > 0:19:32£310,000.

0:19:32 > 0:19:34I think it'll be £325,000.

0:19:34 > 0:19:37- Shall we see?- Yes. - Are you ready?- Yeah.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42- Oh!- 302.

0:19:42 > 0:19:43I'm nearer.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47Actually, I'm really surprised because that's within reach, I think.

0:19:49 > 0:19:53Property one was a traditional, spacious family home.

0:19:53 > 0:19:58At £250,000, it was exactly on budget.

0:19:58 > 0:20:00House number two had everything the couple were hoping for,

0:20:00 > 0:20:03and was also on budget.

0:20:03 > 0:20:07Property three was a brand-new house, with all mod cons.

0:20:07 > 0:20:12At just over £300,000, it was over budget but well within reach.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15So, based on everything they've seen today,

0:20:15 > 0:20:17will the Newtons choose home or away?

0:20:23 > 0:20:25- Australia.- Australia.

0:20:26 > 0:20:29I just think value for money for the house,

0:20:29 > 0:20:32especially the outdoor, and that's what we said we wanted for the kids.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34I'm very happy.

0:20:34 > 0:20:35I bet you would.

0:20:40 > 0:20:45Back in the UK, Mark is a refrigeration and air-conditioning engineer.

0:20:45 > 0:20:49And when it comes to this job prospects, let's say he's keeping his cool.

0:20:50 > 0:20:54Yeah, the air-conditioning sector in Australia is massive.

0:20:55 > 0:20:59I've done loads of qualifications, doing courses on air-conditioning.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03I think the trade over there will be massive, with the weather.

0:21:03 > 0:21:07In his current position, Mark earns around £38,000,

0:21:07 > 0:21:10but has the freedom to work as much or as little as he wants.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13And could earn up to £70,000 per year.

0:21:13 > 0:21:18Finding out if that can be matched in Australia is top of his trial-week agenda.

0:21:18 > 0:21:20The overtime rate over here,

0:21:20 > 0:21:23we can more or less work and earn what we want.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27If that is transferable, can we do that in Australia?

0:21:27 > 0:21:30But if I am doing loads of hours in Australia,

0:21:30 > 0:21:32am I going to have the family time?

0:21:33 > 0:21:37Nicola, meanwhile, works part-time as a school dinner lady and

0:21:37 > 0:21:40occasional classroom assistant in Emily's school.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43It provides an ideal work/life balance.

0:21:43 > 0:21:47With Emily actually being a pupil here it means that I get to see her

0:21:47 > 0:21:50along my working day. I get to see her at lunchtime and out in the playground,

0:21:50 > 0:21:52which is really good.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54It's also the ideal place for Emily.

0:21:54 > 0:21:59I don't know how many special schools there are and whether they provide this support.

0:21:59 > 0:22:01Obviously we've got everything here.

0:22:01 > 0:22:03There's a pool.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06And there's soft play, there's loads of things.

0:22:06 > 0:22:10So, I don't know what there would be in Australia,

0:22:10 > 0:22:12but I hope to find that out when we go.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16The only problem is that it doesn't pay much.

0:22:16 > 0:22:22I earn about £5,000 a year, and obviously I've got...

0:22:22 > 0:22:24..I get my disability top-up as well.

0:22:24 > 0:22:28If I went full-time, I think it's about 12-14,000.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31And in Australia, I'd hope to earn more money.

0:22:31 > 0:22:34Mark knows if the Newtons are to make the move,

0:22:34 > 0:22:37then getting a visa will be essential.

0:22:37 > 0:22:40We hope to meet an employer who would be able to tell us if we

0:22:40 > 0:22:43would be able to get sponsored, with a disabled daughter,

0:22:43 > 0:22:45and how easy or how hard it's going to be.

0:22:46 > 0:22:49To find out the potential roles down under,

0:22:49 > 0:22:52we've arranged for Mark to talk with Cameron,

0:22:52 > 0:22:55the owner of a small air-conditioning company in Perth.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58Top of the agenda - working hours and pay.

0:22:58 > 0:23:03One of my concerns when I came here is actually the working hours.

0:23:03 > 0:23:06Back home in summer, we're mental, just working flat out,

0:23:06 > 0:23:09you're getting home late at night, starting early morning.

0:23:09 > 0:23:10What's it like here?

0:23:10 > 0:23:13Probably like a 60... 55 to 65-hour week,

0:23:13 > 0:23:15depending on, really, how much you want to work.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18- Is that in summer?- Yeah, that's in summer.

0:23:18 > 0:23:22See, back home we're doing, I'm doing 70-80 hours on call.

0:23:22 > 0:23:23- Yeah.- Even now, in winter.

0:23:23 > 0:23:27Yeah, the opportunity's certainly there to be doing 80, 90-hour weeks.

0:23:27 > 0:23:29What can you expect to earn over here?

0:23:29 > 0:23:33Minimum 35 an hour, 40 hours a week, you're looking at 75,000 a year.

0:23:33 > 0:23:35That's Australian dollars.

0:23:35 > 0:23:39- Yeah.- I would say doing 55-hour weeks,

0:23:39 > 0:23:4060-hour weeks in summer,

0:23:40 > 0:23:43you'd almost be cracking 100,000, I would say.

0:23:43 > 0:23:44See, that's phenomenal.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46It's great news for Mark,

0:23:46 > 0:23:51as that's between £45-60,000 a year he could be earning.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54To get a visa, though, he'd probably need to get sponsored.

0:23:54 > 0:23:56And there's good news there, too.

0:23:56 > 0:23:59Opportunity for a sponsorship would definitely be there.

0:23:59 > 0:24:01Especially coming into summer.

0:24:01 > 0:24:03You know, companies, you're there, you're working with them...

0:24:03 > 0:24:07I would say that, yeah, the opportunity would definitely be there for sponsorship.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09That's good to know, and it's good to know, like you said,

0:24:09 > 0:24:12it's the smaller companies what would do that, not the big companies.

0:24:12 > 0:24:14As long as the sun's still shining, then, you know,

0:24:14 > 0:24:17there's going to be plenty of work for fridgies.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20A triple dose of good news for Mark.

0:24:20 > 0:24:23Across town, Nicola is visiting a special-needs school,

0:24:23 > 0:24:27to check out what might be offer for both her and daughter Emily.

0:24:27 > 0:24:29This is Henry's classroom.

0:24:29 > 0:24:33She's meeting Eve, a classroom assistant who has a son with autism.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36How easy is it to get a job?

0:24:36 > 0:24:40It's quite... If you've got the qualifications, it's...

0:24:40 > 0:24:42..it's not that difficult.

0:24:42 > 0:24:48What type of wage would a casual assistant be at first?

0:24:48 > 0:24:51- It's a bit rubbish, actually. - SHE LAUGHS

0:24:51 > 0:24:52I think we do it for the love of it.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55- Yeah.- We don't really do it for the money.

0:24:55 > 0:24:59Is it 20 an hour, 25 an hour? Something like that?

0:24:59 > 0:25:02Hmm, not great news, but there is one upside.

0:25:02 > 0:25:06The hours for the sort of full-time work Nicola is after are a lot better.

0:25:07 > 0:25:12I finish at 3:30, so it's a six-and-a-half-hour day.

0:25:12 > 0:25:15That's a lot less than the UK.

0:25:15 > 0:25:17They're pretty good here.

0:25:17 > 0:25:20That's cos they all want to nip off for a beer or a wine,

0:25:20 > 0:25:22you see, after the hard day that they've had.

0:25:22 > 0:25:25- The nice weather and everything. - Yeah, exactly.

0:25:25 > 0:25:29It's been positive news for both so far, but back on the roof,

0:25:29 > 0:25:33Mark is about to get some bad news when he catches up with Craig,

0:25:33 > 0:25:37an expat air-conditioning engineer from Belfast.

0:25:37 > 0:25:40- The qualifications what I have back home...- Yep.

0:25:40 > 0:25:44..City & Guild, F Gas, is that transferable over here?

0:25:44 > 0:25:48Erm, no. It does... It will help you in a way,

0:25:48 > 0:25:51but it's not recognisable over here, so...

0:25:51 > 0:25:52It's not even transferable?

0:25:52 > 0:25:55So I would have to go back to college and do it all again.

0:25:55 > 0:25:59- Yeah, yeah.- Eh?! - Unfortunately, you will, yeah.

0:25:59 > 0:26:0122 years doing it back home and I've got to start again?

0:26:01 > 0:26:04Yes, I said the same thing to the guys.

0:26:04 > 0:26:06After a day of mixed results,

0:26:06 > 0:26:09the couple meet up to discuss what they've learned.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12First, Mark gives Nicola the good news.

0:26:12 > 0:26:17They said basic would be about 75-80,000 Australian dollars a year.

0:26:17 > 0:26:21And then your overtime, with just doing your 55-60 hours in summer,

0:26:21 > 0:26:24takes it up to about 100, just over 100.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27- Which is what you wanted. - Wanted. And you can earn more.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29And then comes the bad news.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32All my qualifications don't count for anything.

0:26:32 > 0:26:35- Right.- At all.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38- Nothing at all?- Nothing at all. I'll have to retrain it all.

0:26:40 > 0:26:42I can't believe... 22 years and it means nothing here.

0:26:43 > 0:26:46- I can't believe that.- No.

0:26:46 > 0:26:51It's disappointing news for Nicola, but it hasn't deterred her.

0:26:51 > 0:26:53The work sounds brilliant, but you you're going to have to get

0:26:53 > 0:26:57your finger out and retrain and do it.

0:26:57 > 0:26:59Well, that's told you, Mark!

0:26:59 > 0:27:02Time for Nicola to tell her news now.

0:27:02 > 0:27:06The wage is actually about 20-25 an hour,

0:27:06 > 0:27:09which is nearly double what I earn in the UK.

0:27:09 > 0:27:14So, we're never going to be rich from it, but at least I'll get,

0:27:14 > 0:27:19- you know...- You never give me any money, anyway.- No.

0:27:19 > 0:27:21So, when it comes to voting for work down under,

0:27:21 > 0:27:24will they choose Perth or the UK?

0:27:33 > 0:27:34- Australia.- Undecided.

0:27:37 > 0:27:41It's a no-brainer. The only problem is having to retrain and trying to

0:27:41 > 0:27:43find an employer willing to sponsor you.

0:27:43 > 0:27:45- Yeah, so...- Especially with Emily.

0:27:45 > 0:27:47I understand completely why you've gone undecided.

0:27:47 > 0:27:51- It is undecided.- Can you understand why I've gone...?

0:27:51 > 0:27:53Yeah, cos you want to live here.

0:27:53 > 0:27:54- And...- Yeah.

0:27:54 > 0:27:58- ..because the job prospects are better and the money's double.- Yeah.

0:28:02 > 0:28:06After kick-starting their trial week with a great property day,

0:28:06 > 0:28:10the realities of work down under have thrown a spanner in the works,

0:28:10 > 0:28:13leaving the couple blowing hot and cold on the idea.

0:28:13 > 0:28:17Like one of Mark's broken-down, old air conditioning units.

0:28:17 > 0:28:21So will a day out experiencing the warm outdoor life,

0:28:21 > 0:28:24something Nicola feels could benefit daughter Emily's health,

0:28:24 > 0:28:26help get things back on track?

0:28:29 > 0:28:33The Newton family head down to the promenade for a fun-filled morning.

0:28:33 > 0:28:36In fact, you could say they are having a ball.

0:28:36 > 0:28:40- Make a wish.- I wish for dreams to come true.

0:28:40 > 0:28:42And I wish to live in Australia.

0:28:43 > 0:28:45Next, it's down to the beach,

0:28:45 > 0:28:48where the whole family get the chance to relax and have fun.

0:28:57 > 0:29:00It's certainly enough to work up an appetite,

0:29:00 > 0:29:02so while Mark heads off to the local butchers...

0:29:02 > 0:29:04The marble.

0:29:05 > 0:29:09..Nicola reflects on how she feels the week is going so far.

0:29:09 > 0:29:15The things that's going through my mind really is whether or not Mark

0:29:15 > 0:29:17would actually be able to get a visa,

0:29:17 > 0:29:22with the news that he was given yesterday about having to fully retrain.

0:29:22 > 0:29:24That was a big shock.

0:29:24 > 0:29:27But is that enough to put a potential move on hold?

0:29:28 > 0:29:30It was a dream and now I'm here...

0:29:32 > 0:29:35..does it feel like I'm living a dream?

0:29:35 > 0:29:38It just feels like I'm living where I should be living.

0:29:38 > 0:29:41If Mark said that he didn't want to go,

0:29:41 > 0:29:43I don't think it would be a case of he didn't want to go.

0:29:43 > 0:29:46It's probably because we can't come,

0:29:46 > 0:29:49because of Mark's work and retraining, the money and everything,

0:29:49 > 0:29:53but if he said no, just flatly no...

0:29:54 > 0:29:57..it would absolutely devastate me.

0:29:57 > 0:30:00Finally, it's back to base for a barbie.

0:30:03 > 0:30:07Mark and Nicola get the chance to sit down with some fellow expats,

0:30:07 > 0:30:10Sally and her daughter Kirstie, who also has cerebral palsy,

0:30:10 > 0:30:14to discuss the impact a move down under can make on life.

0:30:16 > 0:30:20My biggest fear was - "Is Kirstie going to settle?

0:30:20 > 0:30:22"Are we going to get a visa to begin with?"

0:30:22 > 0:30:25We didn't struggle at all with getting a visa for Kirstie.

0:30:25 > 0:30:27That's one of the concerns,

0:30:27 > 0:30:30because Emily is classed as different, even back home...

0:30:30 > 0:30:35It's not going to be always sunny side up, you know.

0:30:35 > 0:30:38You're going to have some really low points.

0:30:38 > 0:30:43But then you've got to weigh it all up and go, "OK, but it's worth it."

0:30:43 > 0:30:45I started my nursing in July.

0:30:45 > 0:30:48I ride. I enter competitions.

0:30:48 > 0:30:52And I have a jet ski and I go out on that every weekend.

0:30:52 > 0:30:54My life's just great here.

0:30:54 > 0:30:57I think you will have a better lifestyle out here, definitely.

0:30:59 > 0:31:03So, how is Mark feeling now about the prospect of a move?

0:31:03 > 0:31:06Everything in the UK, you've got to fight for.

0:31:06 > 0:31:08Over here, things are accepted.

0:31:08 > 0:31:10The smile on Kirstie's face,

0:31:10 > 0:31:13she had a lovely smile and she was just so happy.

0:31:15 > 0:31:18And that's how I want to see my daughter when she's older, just happy.

0:31:19 > 0:31:23And doing what she wants to do.

0:31:23 > 0:31:25I think that's the main thing in life.

0:31:25 > 0:31:27But do the children need convincing?

0:31:27 > 0:31:30Emily, we're going to live here.

0:31:30 > 0:31:32- Yep.- Do you like living here? Why?

0:31:32 > 0:31:34- Yep.- Because...? - Because it's more...

0:31:34 > 0:31:36Because it's more warm here.

0:31:36 > 0:31:39- Because it's more hotter. - Yeah, it's more hotter than England, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:31:39 > 0:31:43All that's left to do now is for everyone to vote.

0:31:43 > 0:31:44Where will they choose?

0:31:48 > 0:31:51- Australia!- EMILY:- Australia!

0:31:51 > 0:31:54- Emily! Australia!- Australia!

0:31:54 > 0:31:56I just think today,

0:31:56 > 0:32:01meeting Sally and Kirstie and just seeing what opportunities there could be

0:32:01 > 0:32:04for Emily in life, I can't see that back home.

0:32:04 > 0:32:08And since I've been here, I've realised it's not about us, it's about them.

0:32:08 > 0:32:11- Yeah.- I totally agree with what you've said.

0:32:11 > 0:32:13We've got to give the kids the best chance.

0:32:13 > 0:32:17And I'm just so happy that you like it as much as I do.

0:32:17 > 0:32:20You can't fail, Dad, you need to get a visa.

0:32:20 > 0:32:23- We need to live here. - Thanks, no pressure there, then(!)

0:32:23 > 0:32:24LAUGHTER

0:32:28 > 0:32:30In order to buy a house in Australia,

0:32:30 > 0:32:34the Newtons will have to sell their much-loved bungalow back in Bradford.

0:32:34 > 0:32:38So we've asked two estate agents to visit the property to make a valuation.

0:32:38 > 0:32:39- Are you ready? - Yes.

0:32:42 > 0:32:43- EMILY:- Wow!

0:32:47 > 0:32:49Look at you.

0:32:50 > 0:32:52Good-size family living room.

0:32:54 > 0:32:58Yeah, nice white high-gloss kitchen. Good storage options.

0:32:58 > 0:33:00Nice work space area.

0:33:00 > 0:33:02- MARK:- I've never seen it so tidy.

0:33:02 > 0:33:03I wish I was there now.

0:33:07 > 0:33:08Excellent-size rear garden.

0:33:09 > 0:33:12Yes. Nice girl's bedroom here.

0:33:12 > 0:33:16Obviously flexible accommodation, could be used for anything else as well.

0:33:18 > 0:33:22Nice fresh-looking bathroom, grey tiles.

0:33:22 > 0:33:24Definitely in this year.

0:33:24 > 0:33:25Grey is in this year?

0:33:27 > 0:33:31In the current market, I would value this property at £190,000.

0:33:31 > 0:33:37If a quick sale was needed, I would value the property at £180,000.

0:33:37 > 0:33:39Given the current market conditions

0:33:39 > 0:33:41I would put the property on the market at £200,000.

0:33:41 > 0:33:46For a quick sale, I'd advise to put it on at £190,000.

0:33:46 > 0:33:47That's more like it.

0:33:48 > 0:33:50200 would be great.

0:33:51 > 0:33:54It's roughly the ballpark what we thought.

0:33:57 > 0:33:59Now it's time to figure out the finances.

0:34:01 > 0:34:05I couldn't sleep all night, thinking about the figures and what were they going to be.

0:34:05 > 0:34:07Oh, get the violin out.

0:34:09 > 0:34:12Crisps...are dearer.

0:34:13 > 0:34:15I thought they would be dearer, yep.

0:34:16 > 0:34:19- £2.23, a lot dearer.- Good grief.

0:34:19 > 0:34:21We'll have to make our own.

0:34:21 > 0:34:25- Crisps?- Yeah. - Can't do that. HP Sauce.

0:34:25 > 0:34:27Good grief, that's a lot more.

0:34:27 > 0:34:31- You'll have to give up your HP brown sauce. - No chance of that, love.

0:34:33 > 0:34:36Once they've totted up the weekly shop, they're not even fazed.

0:34:38 > 0:34:41- Is that it?- £10.

0:34:41 > 0:34:43- Not even that.- £9.48.

0:34:45 > 0:34:47But what about the bigger living expenses?

0:34:47 > 0:34:49I'm dreading this.

0:34:50 > 0:34:53- So, your mortgage... - Yep.

0:34:53 > 0:34:57£778 in the UK.

0:34:58 > 0:35:01No way! 725 in Australia.

0:35:03 > 0:35:06For that lovely house. 725.

0:35:08 > 0:35:09We're £53 better off.

0:35:12 > 0:35:15- Your gas is a lot more. - Good grief, yeah.

0:35:18 > 0:35:21Comparing all the monthly costs between the UK and Oz,

0:35:21 > 0:35:23the result has them both smiling.

0:35:25 > 0:35:27- What do you think of that? - We're better off in Australia.

0:35:27 > 0:35:31727. I'm amazed.

0:35:31 > 0:35:32I know the sun is shining again,

0:35:32 > 0:35:35but I think somebody's looking down on us.

0:35:35 > 0:35:37And smiling.

0:35:40 > 0:35:43So, after the unexpected news they'll be better off in Oz,

0:35:43 > 0:35:46it's no mystery which way they'll vote.

0:35:49 > 0:35:51- Australia.- Australia.

0:35:52 > 0:35:54There's a long way to go yet,

0:35:54 > 0:35:57but it is looking more positive than when we first came.

0:36:01 > 0:36:04So far, Nicola and Mark have discovered the work,

0:36:04 > 0:36:08lifestyle and financial opportunities Perth has to offer.

0:36:08 > 0:36:12But the dream could still stall as the couple sit down together

0:36:12 > 0:36:15to confront the reality of leaving loved ones.

0:36:15 > 0:36:17Hi, everyone.

0:36:17 > 0:36:22Hi, Mark, Nicola. Hope you're all OK.

0:36:22 > 0:36:26She's kind, thoughtful

0:36:26 > 0:36:28a marvellous mum.

0:36:28 > 0:36:31But there's only one Nicola.

0:36:31 > 0:36:33That is for sure.

0:36:33 > 0:36:38Mark's a very good father and a very good provider.

0:36:38 > 0:36:41He works really hard and long hours.

0:36:41 > 0:36:44I've told him I won't be able to go and see him.

0:36:44 > 0:36:48I have too many health problems to fly and that...

0:36:49 > 0:36:55But I still wish him all the best because they've got their life to live.

0:36:55 > 0:37:00I'm coming to 't end of mine, now, so they've still got to live theirs.

0:37:00 > 0:37:05Nicola and Mark think that they're going to have more family time...

0:37:05 > 0:37:08- You won't have.- And time together as a family to do things.

0:37:08 > 0:37:10I don't think they will.

0:37:10 > 0:37:12No-one likes to see them go, really,

0:37:12 > 0:37:15but, as I say, we don't want to stand in their way,

0:37:15 > 0:37:18if they really like it...

0:37:20 > 0:37:24I just feel as though it would be goodbye, you know.

0:37:24 > 0:37:28That's, that's the hard part, really.

0:37:28 > 0:37:32I just keep thinking, like his dad said, it's their life.

0:37:34 > 0:37:41And we've always brought our kids up to say, do what YOU want to do,

0:37:41 > 0:37:43don't think of us, sort of thing.

0:37:44 > 0:37:46I do that.

0:37:48 > 0:37:51Just think about it really, really seriously.

0:37:51 > 0:37:55Because the grass isn't always greener.

0:37:55 > 0:37:59It will work out, if you do get there, I know it will.

0:37:59 > 0:38:03But even for the odd reasons and it doesn't, love...

0:38:05 > 0:38:06..you've still done it.

0:38:06 > 0:38:09You've still lived that little bit of a dream,

0:38:09 > 0:38:11which it has been for you.

0:38:13 > 0:38:17I don't know whatever we'd do, as you know, Nicola...

0:38:24 > 0:38:27Let's hope they don't go.

0:38:29 > 0:38:30If you did go...

0:38:31 > 0:38:35..to live there, but we wouldn't stand in your way, anyway...

0:38:36 > 0:38:39..we'll miss you greatly.

0:38:39 > 0:38:41Anyway, have a wonderful time, all of you,

0:38:41 > 0:38:44and we'll look forward to hearing all about it.

0:38:44 > 0:38:47Bye. Bye.

0:38:55 > 0:38:58You said you wouldn't cry.

0:38:58 > 0:39:00Are you all right?

0:39:00 > 0:39:02Just difficult.

0:39:06 > 0:39:10It's never easy.

0:39:10 > 0:39:13You knew that.

0:39:13 > 0:39:16Nobody's told THEM what to do.

0:39:16 > 0:39:19They've lived their life and done exactly what they want.

0:39:19 > 0:39:22Now we should be able to do the same.

0:39:23 > 0:39:25Won't it just make us feel so guilty?

0:39:25 > 0:39:28At the end of the day, it's for the kids.

0:39:36 > 0:39:38At the start of their trial week,

0:39:38 > 0:39:42Nicola's mission was to convince husband Mark that moving to Australia

0:39:42 > 0:39:47would be the final piece in the jigsaw of their family life.

0:39:47 > 0:39:51He, however, needed to be convinced that the practicalities match the

0:39:51 > 0:39:55ambition. Now as they approach the final vote,

0:39:55 > 0:40:00is Nicola's dream about to hot up or be put on ice?

0:40:00 > 0:40:02What would you do?

0:40:03 > 0:40:07It's time for the Newtons to pack up and get ready to make the journey

0:40:07 > 0:40:11back home. For Nicola, it's all lived up to expectations.

0:40:11 > 0:40:17I think Australia has been even better than I thought I could ever imagine.

0:40:17 > 0:40:22For Mark, meanwhile, it's been a real voyage of discovery.

0:40:22 > 0:40:27I think, this week, my mind's pickled - a lot of information.

0:40:29 > 0:40:33When I came, I always thought it were going to be extremely hard and

0:40:33 > 0:40:37all negative, and so far, it's completely opposite.

0:40:37 > 0:40:39It's just completely thrown me.

0:40:39 > 0:40:42And Nicola, I think, thinks it's all done and dusted,

0:40:42 > 0:40:45but it's nowhere near.

0:40:45 > 0:40:49And there's still a lot of heart searching to go on.

0:40:49 > 0:40:53Nicola, however, does have her own doubts.

0:40:53 > 0:40:57My head's probably all over the place from seeing friends and family messages,

0:40:57 > 0:41:01but I've got to look to our and our children's future

0:41:01 > 0:41:05and try and do what's actually best for them.

0:41:05 > 0:41:08And both know that ultimately, it's not about them,

0:41:08 > 0:41:10it's about their children.

0:41:11 > 0:41:14I just think Nicola's dream has now sunk into me

0:41:14 > 0:41:18as not Nicola's dream but our kids' future.

0:41:18 > 0:41:21The only question - is it too late?

0:41:21 > 0:41:24If we actually did do it in a few years,

0:41:24 > 0:41:28and spend more time with my grandma and my family,

0:41:28 > 0:41:32my mum, then obviously we might have missed the boat.

0:41:32 > 0:41:34Because our age isn't on our side.

0:41:34 > 0:41:38But they have to realise now that we need to get a move on.

0:41:39 > 0:41:44After years of dreaming, it all comes down to this final vote.

0:41:44 > 0:41:48After everything that we've seen in Australia, our vote goes to...

0:41:50 > 0:41:52I'm pretty good at this.

0:42:00 > 0:42:01ALL: Australia!

0:42:05 > 0:42:09I've... Since I've got here, my mind's... I've changed.

0:42:09 > 0:42:10It's unbelievable. I mean,

0:42:10 > 0:42:12at the beginning it's going to be hard

0:42:12 > 0:42:16- and I'll work all the hours God sends to make it work.- Oh.

0:42:16 > 0:42:18I don't really want to live in England,

0:42:18 > 0:42:22cos I really want to live here cos I really want it to be sunny.

0:42:22 > 0:42:27I just want to give an opportunity to my mum and dad to live here. It's very hot here.

0:42:27 > 0:42:31Words can't express how I feel right now.

0:42:31 > 0:42:33It's been a long week.

0:42:33 > 0:42:38Let's just hope, when we get home, we can put plans into action.

0:42:38 > 0:42:39- EMILY:- Yeah!

0:42:41 > 0:42:44THEY LAUGH

0:42:57 > 0:43:00If a move is to happen in reality, of course,

0:43:00 > 0:43:04it will still need jobs, visas and living arrangements to be sorted,

0:43:04 > 0:43:08but for now, the Newtons have decided unanimously

0:43:08 > 0:43:11that their future lies in Australia.

0:43:11 > 0:43:13Whatever happens next,

0:43:13 > 0:43:17the very best of luck to them and we'll be following with interest.
