0:00:02 > 0:00:06The Mrengo family has reached a crossroad in their life.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09I worked evenings, so we didn't see each other at all

0:00:09 > 0:00:13because, obviously, Mwakere came home, I went to work.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16They feel New Zealand could offer the way ahead.

0:00:16 > 0:00:18The children are at the right age,

0:00:18 > 0:00:21so we want to find out now how that would work.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25A trial week lets them see if the gamble could be worth it.

0:00:25 > 0:00:28It's like our house would fit on the drive here.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30- Apples!- Apples.

0:00:30 > 0:00:34- We've got apples. I love this garden.- Do you?

0:00:34 > 0:00:37But they'll be putting everything on the line.

0:00:37 > 0:00:43I do worry sometimes that if it didn't actually happen the way

0:00:43 > 0:00:48Jana's looking for it to happen, she'll come crashing down.

0:00:48 > 0:00:49There is no plan B.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14As one of the first places on Earth to see the sun each day,

0:01:14 > 0:01:18New Zealand can bring a new dawn for those searching more from life.

0:01:19 > 0:01:23Continually outranking other countries on measures of wellbeing,

0:01:23 > 0:01:29it's no wonder New Zealand is seeing increased numbers of people calling it home.

0:01:29 > 0:01:33The Mrengo family are proud to call Britain their home

0:01:33 > 0:01:36ever since settling in the UK 18 years ago.

0:01:36 > 0:01:41But the hectic pace of life has got them thinking about seeking a better

0:01:41 > 0:01:43work-life balance in New Zealand.

0:01:43 > 0:01:47Across one week, they'll get to see the sort of life they could lead

0:01:47 > 0:01:50and afford if they relocated down under,

0:01:50 > 0:01:54before voting on whether or not to make the move.

0:01:55 > 0:02:00It's taken two flights and almost 23 hours in the air for the family to

0:02:00 > 0:02:02get from Birmingham to New Zealand, but...

0:02:04 > 0:02:07..as they touch down in Wellington for the first time,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09they're in relatively fine form.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12It was long but enjoyable.

0:02:14 > 0:02:19Mwakere can hardly believe he's made it to the other side of the world.

0:02:19 > 0:02:20We're finally here.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23Getting on that plane was the first step.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25It was awesome.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Although a near miss with the connecting flight meant

0:02:28 > 0:02:30they almost didn't make it.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34It's the quickest rearrangement we've done, in seven minutes,

0:02:34 > 0:02:38to actually get yourselves sorted into another flight,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41check in all your luggage and just run for the gate.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45Getting there was actually the easy bit.

0:02:45 > 0:02:50The week ahead will have to deliver if the dream down under is to become a reality.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54Job is the main thing. If we want to make this move,

0:02:54 > 0:02:58we have to find the perfect jobs for both of us.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00I've heard so much about New Zealand and this is our opportunity

0:03:00 > 0:03:03to actually look at it, explore.

0:03:03 > 0:03:07Despite his concerns, Mwakere is raring to go.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09I'm really excited. I know it doesn't show

0:03:09 > 0:03:12because I'm jet-lagged, but I'm laughing on the inside.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14I just can't wait to get started.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17- Yeah!- Off we go.

0:03:17 > 0:03:21Let's hope the positivity continues as the week ahead will decide

0:03:21 > 0:03:24where the family's future lies once and for all.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28We can't really hold hands, Tami, it doesn't work.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33Meet the Mrengos.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36They are dad Mwakere, mum Jana,

0:03:36 > 0:03:39Samuel, aged eight, and Tamara, who's four.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44They live in Birmingham in the West Midlands.

0:03:44 > 0:03:49Mwakere, originally from Tanzania, and Jana, from the Czech Republic,

0:03:49 > 0:03:51first came to Britain at the turn of the millennium.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55Meeting each other certainly wasn't part of the plan.

0:03:57 > 0:04:03Her mum thought that she was coming to the UK to spend some time, learn

0:04:03 > 0:04:07English, and hopefully, within a few years, head back home.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10But that didn't turn out to be the case

0:04:10 > 0:04:15because I happened in her life and things changed.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17All right, spread it gently.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20They certainly changed.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22The couple fell in love, got married,

0:04:22 > 0:04:25and decided to settle down in the UK forever.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28Well, that was the plan.

0:04:28 > 0:04:32Yeah, we had a good life, we bought a house, our first house,

0:04:32 > 0:04:35which we were so excited about.

0:04:35 > 0:04:36Tami, your hands first.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39We were very proud that we could achieve something like that,

0:04:39 > 0:04:43obviously to buy a house in a country where neither of us had been born.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47With the birth of their little boy,

0:04:47 > 0:04:50their UK roots were strengthened even more.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54But soon family life and Mwakere's ever-expanding commitments to a job

0:04:54 > 0:04:57in IT were getting in the way of one another.

0:04:59 > 0:05:03After we had Samuel and when I went back to work,

0:05:03 > 0:05:07I worked evenings, so we didn't see each other at all.

0:05:08 > 0:05:13The job that I started and where I am now four years later,

0:05:13 > 0:05:15the job has grown.

0:05:15 > 0:05:16I'm doing more...

0:05:19 > 0:05:21..and I'm taking more work home.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24And the more I take on those responsibilities,

0:05:24 > 0:05:27they're drawing me further away from my family.

0:05:29 > 0:05:34Eventually, it all came to a head in a moment he'll never forget.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38So when Samuel tried to offer me his piggy bank and said that,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41"Daddy, I know you're always very busy

0:05:41 > 0:05:44"and I know that your phone always keeps ringing,"

0:05:44 > 0:05:49and he said, "The sun is out, could we please go and play football?

0:05:49 > 0:05:51"And whatever they're paying you at work,

0:05:51 > 0:05:54"I can give you some money from my piggy bank."

0:05:54 > 0:05:55And...

0:05:57 > 0:06:01..to just say that you reach a moment of silence

0:06:01 > 0:06:03because it just hits home

0:06:03 > 0:06:06in a very hard way that we're drifting apart.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11So it's time for things to change,

0:06:11 > 0:06:14and both see a new start down under as an answer.

0:06:18 > 0:06:23Well, I've always dreamt about going to New Zealand or Australia.

0:06:23 > 0:06:28I do think that New Zealand is very similar to the Czech Republic.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31You get the snow, then you get the nice weather, you know?

0:06:32 > 0:06:36It's very green, it's got the mountains, which I love.

0:06:37 > 0:06:41And they've even got friends who've made the move before them.

0:06:41 > 0:06:45They were all talking about it, how great it is to raise a family,

0:06:45 > 0:06:49and he was just saying, "What are you waiting for? Just go for it."

0:06:49 > 0:06:53He was, like, you know, "It's the best move we've done."

0:06:53 > 0:06:56But it's what the country might offer their children that is really

0:06:56 > 0:06:59motivating the couple's dreams of making the move.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03You know, I would love them to have a childhood like I had.

0:07:03 > 0:07:07Every weekend we went up to the cottage in the mountains,

0:07:07 > 0:07:13we were camping every summer for several weeks, and just the freedom.

0:07:13 > 0:07:18The children are at the right age, so we want to find out now how that would work.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20We want to make these changes

0:07:20 > 0:07:24that we feel will bring us together.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27And what are they going to miss most?

0:07:29 > 0:07:31The hardest thing to leave behind

0:07:31 > 0:07:33are the people in our lives currently.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37We have both come from different places.

0:07:37 > 0:07:44We've lived a majority of our life here with some incredible people.

0:07:44 > 0:07:46I'm going to, in a way, miss more my family as well

0:07:46 > 0:07:49because I know we're not going to be able to

0:07:49 > 0:07:51see them every year like we do now.

0:07:53 > 0:07:54And a good curry.

0:07:56 > 0:07:58Because we do live in Birmingham,

0:07:58 > 0:08:02so you do get the best curry from the UK here.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05In the end, both Jana and Mwakere know that they are throwing

0:08:05 > 0:08:08everything on the line with their New Zealand dream.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13I feel scared going to New Zealand.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15I feel excited.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17It is...

0:08:17 > 0:08:20..by far the biggest thing I've ever done.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24For us, it is definitely a one-way ticket.

0:08:26 > 0:08:27There is no plan B.

0:08:32 > 0:08:36The Mrengos are spending their trial week on the Kapiti Coast,

0:08:36 > 0:08:38on the lower part of New Zealand's North Island.

0:08:40 > 0:08:44Home for the next seven days is a beach-side bungalow

0:08:44 > 0:08:46and I think they like what they see.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49Oh, wow, look at that.

0:08:49 > 0:08:53Look at the view. Who needs a TV when you can look at that?

0:08:53 > 0:08:57As they step outside, it's a thumbs-up for the location.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00Oh, gosh, you can hear it.

0:09:00 > 0:09:01WATER SLOSHES, BIRDS CHIRP

0:09:01 > 0:09:02It's just beautiful.

0:09:03 > 0:09:05We can just move in then.

0:09:09 > 0:09:14Back indoors, Tami seems slightly confused about the sleeping arrangements.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16A wooden bed!

0:09:19 > 0:09:22Samuel's happy with what he's seen so far.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25Very nice.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28So you wouldn't even mind sharing a bedroom with your sister?

0:09:28 > 0:09:32- Nope.- Oh, wow, that must be a special house then, hey?

0:09:32 > 0:09:35And Jana's already feeling at home.

0:09:35 > 0:09:37We were driving from the airport here,

0:09:37 > 0:09:40which reminded me of being back in the Czech Republic.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43The mountains and just the forests.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46First thought is just, like, wow.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49I can stay here.

0:09:53 > 0:09:58Back in the UK, the Mrengos live in the village of Acocks Green,

0:09:58 > 0:10:01near Birmingham, in a two-bedroom end terrace house.

0:10:03 > 0:10:08With two growing children, it's become, well, cosy to say the least.

0:10:09 > 0:10:13So number one priority on their property search in New Zealand is space.

0:10:15 > 0:10:16Three bedrooms, definitely,

0:10:16 > 0:10:20because the kids are desperate to have their own bedrooms.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22OK. But what about Mum and Dad?

0:10:22 > 0:10:28I'd like to live somewhere in a nice suburb, probably.

0:10:28 > 0:10:29Preferably by the beach.

0:10:31 > 0:10:34I would love a beach house.

0:10:34 > 0:10:35Well, wouldn't we all?

0:10:35 > 0:10:39I think crucially, for me, is to have, like, a little study

0:10:39 > 0:10:44or man cave where I can just hide at times.

0:10:44 > 0:10:48I'd love one too, thank you!

0:10:48 > 0:10:50- Somewhere I can hide! - Me too, please.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54Finally, how about those little luxuries

0:10:54 > 0:10:57we often see on Wanted Down Under?

0:10:57 > 0:11:02I don't actually care much about walk-in wardrobes and those things

0:11:02 > 0:11:03because it is more cleaning.

0:11:03 > 0:11:04LAUGHTER

0:11:06 > 0:11:08The couple plan to rent initially in New Zealand

0:11:08 > 0:11:12and have set themselves a budget of £1,200 per calendar month.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Today, we'll show the family three properties -

0:11:17 > 0:11:18two close to this budget

0:11:18 > 0:11:21and one which could be their ideal family home.

0:11:24 > 0:11:28First stop is Raumati South, just 30 miles north-west of Wellington.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32Close to the beach, with great schools,

0:11:32 > 0:11:35playgrounds and a thriving community feel,

0:11:35 > 0:11:38this area should be just what the Mrengos are looking for.

0:11:39 > 0:11:44What will the first impressions be of this four-bedroom two-bathroom family home?

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Look how massive this is.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51It's like our house would fit on the drive here.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55It's a far cry from their two-bedroom semi back

0:11:55 > 0:11:58in Acocks Green, near Birmingham.

0:11:58 > 0:11:59Oh, wow.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04- Oh, wow.- Quite a big space. - It is, isn't it?

0:12:04 > 0:12:07A lot bigger than our lounge right now. It's really good.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10This spacious living room leads into the kitchen,

0:12:10 > 0:12:12which also gets the thumbs up.

0:12:12 > 0:12:16I like the kitchen, since I'm the only one cooking really.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18Maybe you will start cooking now.

0:12:18 > 0:12:19- I already do.- Mmm.

0:12:21 > 0:12:24While Mum and Dad chew the fat over the kitchen chores,

0:12:24 > 0:12:28Tamara stakes a claim upstairs.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Look, Tami, that could be your room.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32- My own bedroom.- Your own bedroom.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35You could fit your doll's house and your kitchen as well.

0:12:37 > 0:12:38OK.

0:12:38 > 0:12:41That's Tami sorted.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44This house has impressed so far.

0:12:45 > 0:12:49And in the main bedroom, Tami's blown away by one particular feature.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52Oh, that's definitely my room.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55- You've got a toilet in here. - We've got a toilet.

0:12:55 > 0:12:59- How funny is that? - Why do you need a toilet here?

0:12:59 > 0:13:02- We've never had an en-suite. - We're going to have

0:13:02 > 0:13:04our own shower on our own.

0:13:04 > 0:13:09- Yes.- But the built in wardrobe could leave Mum short-changed.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12- Oh, look at that.- Oh, my goodness me. No, don't say look at that.

0:13:12 > 0:13:16Your clothes are not going to fit. Dad's got about 50 pairs of shoes.

0:13:16 > 0:13:21But it's not the space Mwakere's worried about, it's the doors.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23Well, I know you'll spend your time in there,

0:13:23 > 0:13:25but what if I actually whack you with that door?

0:13:26 > 0:13:28LAUGHTER

0:13:28 > 0:13:32- That's what I'm saying. - We could just put a bell there so we can hear you.

0:13:32 > 0:13:33A bell in the bedroom?

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Yeah, you know, like sheep have around their neck.

0:13:39 > 0:13:42Every time you open the door you can hear, "Ping-ping."

0:13:42 > 0:13:45Are you sure you had breakfast this morning?

0:13:46 > 0:13:51You might have to come up with a better plan, Jana.

0:13:51 > 0:13:54With a fourth bedroom and a good-sized family bathroom,

0:13:54 > 0:13:58this house has loads of space for the family and visitors.

0:13:58 > 0:14:01And the outside is the icing on the cake.

0:14:02 > 0:14:05Look at this garden. Apples!

0:14:05 > 0:14:07- Apples.- We've got apples!

0:14:07 > 0:14:08I love this garden.

0:14:08 > 0:14:10Do you?

0:14:10 > 0:14:14It's now time for Mum and Dad to find out if this house is somewhere they

0:14:14 > 0:14:16could afford to call home.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20Their budget, £1,200 a month.

0:14:20 > 0:14:24Seeing the size of the house and, you know, four bedrooms,

0:14:24 > 0:14:26I think it's going to be over.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28Yeah, so I think there's only one way to find out.

0:14:28 > 0:14:32OK. Let's go and see.

0:14:35 > 0:14:39Oh, actually, it's not bad, £1,050 per month.

0:14:39 > 0:14:43So that's not bad for how big the house is.

0:14:43 > 0:14:50- No.- At nearly £150 below budget Mwakere's got just one question.

0:14:50 > 0:14:55I mean, if you can get £1,000 for a property like this,

0:14:55 > 0:14:58I just can't wait to see what the other two are like.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03With things off to such a promising start,

0:15:03 > 0:15:07it's time to move on to the next property.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09It's in Paraparaumu,

0:15:09 > 0:15:13a large beach-side village boasting plenty of family-friendly amenities.

0:15:15 > 0:15:19This four-bedroom family home is just a stone's throw from the shore,

0:15:19 > 0:15:23but will it impress as much as the first property?

0:15:23 > 0:15:27Driving the way up here, you could just see yourself living here.

0:15:27 > 0:15:28- I like it.- I like the area.

0:15:28 > 0:15:32- I like it.- Yeah, I can't wait to... Shall we go and have a look inside?

0:15:33 > 0:15:37Well, one thing's definitely caught Jana's eye straightaway.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39It's got carpet!

0:15:39 > 0:15:43- Aw!- Would you like to lie on it as well?!

0:15:43 > 0:15:46The kitchen diner, meanwhile, is to both their tastes.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50It really opens up, doesn't it?

0:15:50 > 0:15:52It's beautiful.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54This one is much more modern, isn't it?

0:15:54 > 0:15:57You've got a big window there, you've got a big window over there.

0:15:57 > 0:15:59You could pretty much just move in here.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03This must be so much more expensive.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06Can the bedrooms continue to wow?

0:16:06 > 0:16:10Oh, wow! Oh, I love this actually.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12I don't like it, I love this one!

0:16:12 > 0:16:17Finding good sized rooms for all the family is a big priority for the Mrengos,

0:16:17 > 0:16:22and this house is certainly delivering, even topping property one.

0:16:22 > 0:16:24I think this is more us, isn't it, the house?

0:16:24 > 0:16:25It's nice and modern.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29And it seems we've also found where Jana might keep her clothes.

0:16:31 > 0:16:34Oh! So that's where the lady's got her clothes, then.

0:16:34 > 0:16:38There we go! The man's got the wardrobe in the master bedroom.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40And the lady has to have it here.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42I think it's genius myself!

0:16:45 > 0:16:50If anything, this house has space to spare.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53I can see my brother already booking flights to come here with his family!

0:16:55 > 0:16:57As long as they show us the return tickets, we'll be cool.

0:16:57 > 0:17:00- We'll be cool.- Never mind the relatives!

0:17:00 > 0:17:04Well, the inside has been a big hit.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06What about the outside?

0:17:06 > 0:17:08- Let's have a look. - Let's have a look at this garden.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11Oh, that's nice, the sitting area here.

0:17:11 > 0:17:16That's lovely. There's not a lot of space to kick a ball, though.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19Oh, I don't know, but this is definitely garden space.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Well, it is, but it's not very child-friendly garden.

0:17:24 > 0:17:26- Mmm.- It's a bit disappointing, the garden,

0:17:26 > 0:17:29because the house is absolutely beautiful inside, you know,

0:17:29 > 0:17:30it's got all the space we want.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33- But...- Yeah, it's quite a shame, because I quite like this house.

0:17:33 > 0:17:37It wouldn't be a house to buy, but for the rent,

0:17:37 > 0:17:39I wouldn't disregard this house.

0:17:41 > 0:17:42Something of a split, then.

0:17:42 > 0:17:44Could they afford it anyway?

0:17:46 > 0:17:51I think based on the house that we have seen prior and how much that cost,

0:17:51 > 0:17:55probably £1,500 per month on this one.

0:17:55 > 0:17:59I was going to say about 1,400.

0:17:59 > 0:18:00Are you ready to turn it round?

0:18:01 > 0:18:03Go on, then! Let's see what it is.

0:18:04 > 0:18:06Let's put us out of the misery!

0:18:07 > 0:18:10- Oh, wow!- Oh.

0:18:10 > 0:18:13£1,175 per month.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16The price actually compensates for the garden, isn't it?

0:18:16 > 0:18:18- I think it does. - Yeah. I think we could...

0:18:19 > 0:18:21We could do it.

0:18:21 > 0:18:25This property is almost perfect for the Mrengos,

0:18:25 > 0:18:27and there is still one house to go.

0:18:29 > 0:18:32For the final stop of the day, it is back to Raumati South.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39The weather's taken a dip, but spirits are still running high.

0:18:41 > 0:18:46Let's hope this spacious four-bedroom family home can keep it that way.

0:18:46 > 0:18:49Wow, how expensive is that?!

0:18:49 > 0:18:50Just looking at the size of this...

0:18:50 > 0:18:54I can just see Tamara in her princess dress over there in that bit.

0:18:54 > 0:18:58If the last property offered a modern form of living,

0:18:58 > 0:19:00it's clear that this one is...

0:19:01 > 0:19:03..different.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07It's like the entrance to a church, isn't it?

0:19:07 > 0:19:09It's got a very different feel to it.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11You feel posh living here.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13Well, I feel posh just standing here!

0:19:15 > 0:19:16Look at us!

0:19:16 > 0:19:19I hope you've wiped your feet, then!

0:19:19 > 0:19:23Because the kitchen-diner is just as posh.

0:19:23 > 0:19:25It is very overwhelming.

0:19:25 > 0:19:27It's even got a turret!

0:19:27 > 0:19:30Makes me want to put a princess dress on!

0:19:32 > 0:19:36You'll struggle to get one! And then again, if you could afford this house...

0:19:36 > 0:19:38- Excuse me?!- If you could afford this house, then...

0:19:38 > 0:19:40What do you mean, I'll struggle to get one?

0:19:40 > 0:19:43- Princess dress. - You're not borrowing Tamara's.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46They do adult sizes, thank you very much!

0:19:47 > 0:19:50Oh, you've put your foot in it there, Mwakere!

0:19:50 > 0:19:55It seems this house is perfect, but maybe too perfect.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59It's too big.

0:19:59 > 0:20:03I just think, for the four of us, this house,

0:20:03 > 0:20:07you would lose the kids in parts of this house I haven't even seen yet.

0:20:07 > 0:20:10Time to check out the upstairs main bedroom.

0:20:10 > 0:20:13Oh, wow!

0:20:13 > 0:20:15Definitely the best part of the house.

0:20:15 > 0:20:16The views are beautiful.

0:20:16 > 0:20:19You can't, you know, argue with the views.

0:20:19 > 0:20:22I think it's a marvellous house to the right family.

0:20:22 > 0:20:29If it was for £1,200 per month, I would move in tomorrow.

0:20:29 > 0:20:32Well, that's one view, but...

0:20:32 > 0:20:35Even if price wasn't an issue in this house, I just feel...

0:20:37 > 0:20:39..I haven't connected with this house.

0:20:39 > 0:20:44We are trying to get closer as a family, and I feel in this house,

0:20:44 > 0:20:48you'll find everybody's in their favourite corner or doing something.

0:20:48 > 0:20:49You'll kind of lose yourselves in here.

0:20:51 > 0:20:55I guess it's better we see if it's worth arguing over.

0:20:55 > 0:20:59Here we go again. So, what do you think?

0:20:59 > 0:21:04I think it's going to be 3,000 at least.

0:21:04 > 0:21:07Probably at the £2,000 mark.

0:21:07 > 0:21:08So, are you going to turn it?

0:21:08 > 0:21:09Yeah. Let's have a look.

0:21:09 > 0:21:11Are you ready?

0:21:13 > 0:21:19Seriously?! It's £1,250 per month!

0:21:19 > 0:21:20How?!

0:21:22 > 0:21:28I heard you saying earlier if it was around £1,000, you would move in.

0:21:29 > 0:21:32I think you'd better start packing your bags, then.

0:21:32 > 0:21:34I'd better buy myself a princess dress!

0:21:36 > 0:21:39The day's house-hunting has been an eye-opener for the Mrengos.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42The first house immediately impressed.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45Loads of living space, room for the children,

0:21:45 > 0:21:49an en-suite that tickled Tamara's fancy

0:21:49 > 0:21:51and everything was rosy in the garden, too.

0:21:52 > 0:21:56The second house had all the space and modern styling

0:21:56 > 0:21:57Mwakere and Jana longed for,

0:21:57 > 0:22:00and with carpet throughout.

0:22:00 > 0:22:02The positives kept piling up

0:22:02 > 0:22:06until the impractical garden clipped their enthusiasm.

0:22:06 > 0:22:08The final house was fit for a princess,

0:22:08 > 0:22:12but the scale of it overawed the couple.

0:22:12 > 0:22:14However, with the unexpected low rental,

0:22:14 > 0:22:17could this castle become their family home?

0:22:19 > 0:22:20So when it comes to homes down under,

0:22:20 > 0:22:24will the couple vote for the UK or New Zealand?

0:22:25 > 0:22:29Pleasantly surprised by what we can actually, um,

0:22:29 > 0:22:32find ourselves living in here in New Zealand.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34Our property vote goes to...

0:22:42 > 0:22:44- BOTH:- New Zealand!

0:22:44 > 0:22:47I voted for New Zealand because I was pleasantly surprised,

0:22:47 > 0:22:52as you said today, what we can actually afford on our budget.

0:22:52 > 0:22:54We can actually get to do a lot more things

0:22:54 > 0:22:56than we're currently doing in the UK.

0:23:04 > 0:23:07A unanimous vote for New Zealand is a step

0:23:07 > 0:23:11in the right direction for the couple's dream of a better life.

0:23:12 > 0:23:17But if it's to become a reality, they will need to secure employment.

0:23:17 > 0:23:20Back in the UK, Mwakere works in IT,

0:23:20 > 0:23:24but family life is fast becoming the victim of his own success.

0:23:24 > 0:23:26Things need to be different.

0:23:26 > 0:23:30I love my job and I love what I do, but I love my family more.

0:23:30 > 0:23:33Jana, meanwhile, is looking for a complete change

0:23:33 > 0:23:35from her job in finance.

0:23:35 > 0:23:41Before I came to the UK, I worked with children,

0:23:41 > 0:23:43and that's something I would like to continue doing.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46It's a direction she's already started moving in.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52For the past five years,

0:23:52 > 0:23:56I've been teaching in Sunday School in our church.

0:23:57 > 0:24:01All of which puts more pressure on Mwakere.

0:24:01 > 0:24:05I do worry sometimes that if it didn't actually happen

0:24:05 > 0:24:11the way Jana is looking for it to happen, she'll come crashing down.

0:24:15 > 0:24:17Before classes for the day start,

0:24:17 > 0:24:20Jana is dropping in at Raumati Beach School.

0:24:20 > 0:24:26She meets principal Mike Farrelly to find out more about her dream of working with children.

0:24:26 > 0:24:27- Welcome, come inside.- Thank you.

0:24:29 > 0:24:31Now the kids are a bit older,

0:24:31 > 0:24:34I'd like to go back into working with children,

0:24:34 > 0:24:37because that's something I used to do in the Czech Republic,

0:24:37 > 0:24:40so I worked with children with special needs.

0:24:40 > 0:24:43I think I would like to start from the bottom as

0:24:43 > 0:24:49a teaching assistant and hopefully, you know, progress if I could.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52Clearly, Jana has plans, but for now,

0:24:52 > 0:24:55she needs to find out about the first steps

0:24:55 > 0:24:57to becoming a teaching assistant in New Zealand.

0:24:59 > 0:25:01We tend to call them teacher aides over here.

0:25:01 > 0:25:05They don't necessarily have been through and done

0:25:05 > 0:25:09education courses or courses in child development,

0:25:09 > 0:25:12so that is not a prerequisite in New Zealand,

0:25:12 > 0:25:15to have those qualifications.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18- OK.- It all sounds relatively straightforward, then.

0:25:18 > 0:25:23But working in finance, Jana knows that supply usually meets demand.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26Are there any jobs in this area?

0:25:26 > 0:25:29- Is there a need?- There are always jobs, that's for sure,

0:25:29 > 0:25:32because, you know, um, we've employed...

0:25:32 > 0:25:36..two, two new teacher aides this year.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39So what would the wage packet look like?

0:25:39 > 0:25:41A teaching assistant's salary is paid in two ways.

0:25:41 > 0:25:43It's either paid on an hourly rate,

0:25:43 > 0:25:48or if you're working full-time at a school, it is paid on a salary.

0:25:48 > 0:25:56So your hourly rate is anything from around about £8 to about

0:25:56 > 0:26:02£13 per hour, and the salary is around 18

0:26:02 > 0:26:06to a maximum around £35,000.

0:26:06 > 0:26:09Well, that sounds really great, salary wise.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11That's very good.

0:26:11 > 0:26:13- Thank you very much. - Thank you.- Thank you.

0:26:13 > 0:26:17Well, that certainly is worth getting up early for.

0:26:17 > 0:26:21But it sounds like the family will still need a main wage earner,

0:26:21 > 0:26:25so across town, Mwakere is visiting a Wellington recruitment agency.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29And he's excited about the prospect.

0:26:29 > 0:26:35He meets with senior consultant Georgia Hinds inside their rather fancy offices,

0:26:35 > 0:26:37and straightaway gets down to brass tacks.

0:26:38 > 0:26:43So, coming from the UK, how easy is it for me to secure a role here?

0:26:43 > 0:26:48So, some companies are a bit reluctant to hire people if they have to

0:26:48 > 0:26:53sponsor them, but if you've secured visa upfront and you're allowed to

0:26:53 > 0:26:57work in New Zealand, then there should be no issues with getting you a position.

0:26:57 > 0:26:59Generally, it would be depending on

0:26:59 > 0:27:01whether you are in New Zealand or not at the time.

0:27:01 > 0:27:04It could be anywhere from 2-6 weeks.

0:27:04 > 0:27:08Encouraging news about job opportunities.

0:27:08 > 0:27:09But what about the salary?

0:27:09 > 0:27:14At the moment, Mwakere earns around £28,000 in the UK.

0:27:14 > 0:27:17Well, you've got ten years of experience in IT,

0:27:17 > 0:27:21and you do show that you've got loyalty and that you're steady in your roles,

0:27:21 > 0:27:26so it would probably be between 80 and 90,000 New Zealand dollars,

0:27:26 > 0:27:29which would probably be about £45-50,000.

0:27:31 > 0:27:33That is great news.

0:27:34 > 0:27:36It definitely is.

0:27:37 > 0:27:41I think he's lost for words, you know!

0:27:41 > 0:27:44- It is an increase!- It's a lot more, yeah, than what I earn back in the UK.

0:27:45 > 0:27:49It's not just about the money, though.

0:27:49 > 0:27:53So I want to know how the work-life balance here

0:27:53 > 0:27:56would work if I want to make the move.

0:27:56 > 0:27:58In New Zealand, most companies are very,

0:27:58 > 0:28:02very keen to keep that work-life balance.

0:28:02 > 0:28:06We are a nation here where we realise that you can't work people to the

0:28:06 > 0:28:08bone and get the best out of them all the time,

0:28:08 > 0:28:11so companies are very aware of that.

0:28:11 > 0:28:15It's been a short but very sweet meeting.

0:28:15 > 0:28:17- Here's my card.- Thank you very much.

0:28:17 > 0:28:20And he may even have made a contact there.

0:28:20 > 0:28:24At the end of a busy work day, the couple meet up to compare notes.

0:28:28 > 0:28:29So, how was your day?

0:28:29 > 0:28:32Well, mine was very good, but how was yours?

0:28:32 > 0:28:35Had a lovely time, and had a really good review.

0:28:35 > 0:28:38Did they give you any indication of a salary?

0:28:38 > 0:28:42Yeah, based on my skills and experience, that we went through,

0:28:42 > 0:28:49they will be able to secure me a role for about £44-50,000.

0:28:49 > 0:28:52Oh, that's good. That's going to be more than what you are on,

0:28:52 > 0:28:54- isn't it, in pounds?- Yeah, it's almost double

0:28:54 > 0:28:56- what I'm on right now just myself.- OK.

0:28:56 > 0:29:01They offered you a job? It's been positive for both of us, hasn't it,

0:29:01 > 0:29:05so you know, I can change my career, get back to working with kids,

0:29:05 > 0:29:07what I really enjoy.

0:29:07 > 0:29:09Brilliant! We can move!

0:29:11 > 0:29:14I guess all we need to do now is vote.

0:29:14 > 0:29:19After spending the day and looking at job opportunities

0:29:19 > 0:29:22for us in New Zealand, our vote goes to...

0:29:32 > 0:29:34- BOTH:- New Zealand!

0:29:34 > 0:29:36It was always going to be New Zealand.

0:29:36 > 0:29:41So, yeah, I'm looking forward to, uh, hopefully relocating.

0:29:47 > 0:29:54So far, it looks like plan A is working out pretty well for Jana and Mwakere Mrengo.

0:29:54 > 0:29:58But as they enter the second half of their trial week,

0:29:58 > 0:30:01will Wellington continue to live up to their dreams,

0:30:01 > 0:30:06or are the dark clouds of reality getting ready to descend?

0:30:08 > 0:30:12The Mrengos are spending the day at the world leading conservation park

0:30:12 > 0:30:16Zealandia, a stunning forest and lifestyle sanctuary,

0:30:16 > 0:30:20which is home to some of nature's most extraordinary animals.

0:30:20 > 0:30:22Despite the weather,

0:30:22 > 0:30:25the family is determined not to let it rain on their parade.

0:30:25 > 0:30:27I can't jump with my feet up...

0:30:27 > 0:30:30- It's jumping height.- No, look, look.

0:30:30 > 0:30:35Back home on a rainy day we would have a duvet day, just stay inside,

0:30:35 > 0:30:38put the heating on and watch a movie.

0:30:38 > 0:30:41- There he is!- And today's film is...

0:30:41 > 0:30:43..Jurassic Park.

0:30:43 > 0:30:45Oh! Tami, come here.

0:30:45 > 0:30:46- There's a lizard.- A tuatara!

0:30:46 > 0:30:48That is a tuatara!

0:30:48 > 0:30:50- Oh, gosh, yes!- Let me see, Daddy.

0:30:50 > 0:30:52There, we've found one.

0:30:52 > 0:30:57This has been a rare chance to spend some quality family time together.

0:30:57 > 0:31:00A fact that's not lost on either Mum or Dad.

0:31:01 > 0:31:05The best part of today is being together as a family.

0:31:05 > 0:31:08It's been actually really nice for Mwakere's phone

0:31:08 > 0:31:10not to be ringing every five minutes.

0:31:10 > 0:31:15Back at home, doing stuff like this takes time, and yes,

0:31:15 > 0:31:18while you always try to do them as much as you can,

0:31:18 > 0:31:22but when you're caught in the rat race of working every day,

0:31:22 > 0:31:26weekends seem more for recovery times rather than family times.

0:31:26 > 0:31:30But halfway through the week, thoughts are turning to home.

0:31:31 > 0:31:34If we are going to do this, we are going to leave people behind.

0:31:34 > 0:31:38But you only get to live once, and when you have a family,

0:31:38 > 0:31:41they come first, then everybody else second.

0:31:42 > 0:31:44Well, I do miss our friends,

0:31:44 > 0:31:48but as hard as it will be to leave friends behind,

0:31:48 > 0:31:51it's actually not that hard to make new friends here

0:31:51 > 0:31:54because people in New Zealand are very friendly.

0:31:54 > 0:31:59It's fair to say that Jana's mind at this point seems pretty made up.

0:31:59 > 0:32:00I haven't got a plan B.

0:32:00 > 0:32:04I haven't had one in the UK, and that hasn't changed.

0:32:04 > 0:32:09I now hope that for the rest of my family choose this way,

0:32:09 > 0:32:11come to New Zealand and enjoy the life.

0:32:11 > 0:32:13It's time to vote.

0:32:13 > 0:32:17After a day's looking around at the sites of New Zealand,

0:32:17 > 0:32:19today's vote goes to...

0:32:24 > 0:32:27- ALL:- New Zealand.

0:32:28 > 0:32:33To just have the energy to go around and do stuff like this without thinking,

0:32:33 > 0:32:37"Oh, no, do I have to check that phone again and see what's going on?"

0:32:37 > 0:32:40I thought the weather's not going to let me, you know, down,

0:32:40 > 0:32:45so we still had a great day, so that's why I voted for New Zealand.

0:32:45 > 0:32:47You get to do and experience more stuff,

0:32:47 > 0:32:50so it always has to be New Zealand for me.

0:32:55 > 0:32:59So far, their time in New Zealand has assured the couple the country

0:32:59 > 0:33:01could give them the lifestyle they are longing for.

0:33:03 > 0:33:07But for the dream to become a reality, the books will have to balance.

0:33:07 > 0:33:12And getting the right price for their home in the UK could be crucial.

0:33:12 > 0:33:15Two local estate agents gave evaluations.

0:33:16 > 0:33:17We're going to have a look.

0:33:19 > 0:33:20Here we go.

0:33:21 > 0:33:23Our house!

0:33:23 > 0:33:27Oh, look, it's nice and sunny as well.

0:33:27 > 0:33:32So, here we have the kitchen. It's quite a compact space. At the end of the day, it's a compact house.

0:33:32 > 0:33:35The dining table that won't fit into the living room does fit in the kitchen.

0:33:35 > 0:33:39It's been well maintained, it's been refitted, clearly, since the house was built.

0:33:39 > 0:33:42You know, it's typical of all the sorts of houses in this area.

0:33:42 > 0:33:43It's a great little room.

0:33:45 > 0:33:47And here we are in the living room.

0:33:47 > 0:33:52It's a typical lounge area for a property of this size and type.

0:33:52 > 0:33:56The owners of the property have created a great home entertainment console there

0:33:56 > 0:34:00with room for a widescreen television.

0:34:00 > 0:34:03We've got super patio windows leading out onto the garden.

0:34:03 > 0:34:05Stairway up to the first-floor landing.

0:34:05 > 0:34:09So this is the master bedroom. Really nice space.

0:34:09 > 0:34:10Plenty of space for your bed,

0:34:10 > 0:34:13and a really nice feature is this extra fitted wardrobe.

0:34:13 > 0:34:14Lots of storage space here.

0:34:14 > 0:34:17You don't get that in lots of smaller houses.

0:34:17 > 0:34:19I really like this room.

0:34:20 > 0:34:24In today's market, I'd value this house at £165,000.

0:34:24 > 0:34:26If we needed to achieve a quick sale,

0:34:26 > 0:34:29I'd be putting it on the market for £160,000.

0:34:29 > 0:34:31Should they decide they wanted to rent it,

0:34:31 > 0:34:35the guide price for rental would be about 650- £675 per calendar month.

0:34:35 > 0:34:37In the current market,

0:34:37 > 0:34:41I would suggest listing this property for £165,000,

0:34:41 > 0:34:45and consider accepting offers of £160,000 for a quick sale.

0:34:45 > 0:34:49However, if the vendors decided to rent the property out instead,

0:34:49 > 0:34:53a rental income of between 650 and £700 per calendar month

0:34:53 > 0:34:54should be achievable.

0:34:54 > 0:34:56Oh, wow!

0:34:56 > 0:34:58They actually said the same.

0:34:58 > 0:35:01Quite pleased with the valuations that they've done.

0:35:01 > 0:35:02I'm surprised about the rental.

0:35:02 > 0:35:05The valuation is pretty much what we thought it will be.

0:35:05 > 0:35:08- Which is really good. - It was all good.- Yeah.

0:35:08 > 0:35:12It's an encouraging start, but how would the Mrengos'

0:35:12 > 0:35:15cost of living down under compare with the UK?

0:35:16 > 0:35:21To find out, we've provided a comparison of costs between the two countries.

0:35:21 > 0:35:25And the weekly grocery shop provides some "pleasant" surprises.

0:35:27 > 0:35:31Pepperoni salami, it's much more expensive, like a double.

0:35:31 > 0:35:35Fresh chicken, oh, that's a big difference.

0:35:35 > 0:35:38But some things are, like, really extra, you know?

0:35:39 > 0:35:42When they add it up, the weekly shopping bill

0:35:42 > 0:35:45in New Zealand works out higher than in the UK.

0:35:46 > 0:35:49173.94.

0:35:49 > 0:35:54- Per month.- Per month.- It's quite a lot, though, isn't it?

0:35:54 > 0:35:56- Per month, yeah.- Yeah.

0:35:56 > 0:35:59And their calculations for rent and other costs come out higher, too.

0:36:01 > 0:36:02In New Zealand,

0:36:02 > 0:36:07we will be paying £548.30 more

0:36:07 > 0:36:11every month on the bigger bills.

0:36:11 > 0:36:13Ah, we expected a bit of a rise.

0:36:13 > 0:36:18It's obviously more, but we'll see what the rest of the figures are like, then.

0:36:18 > 0:36:21While the costs are mounting up,

0:36:21 > 0:36:25Mwakere and Jana have been told they can expect to earn more in New Zealand

0:36:25 > 0:36:29than in the UK. So how could this leave the figures overall?

0:36:29 > 0:36:36£15,368.40.

0:36:36 > 0:36:3740p!

0:36:37 > 0:36:43And that means we are this much better off in New Zealand every...

0:36:43 > 0:36:44Every year.

0:36:44 > 0:36:45That's a lot of money.

0:36:45 > 0:36:47Really incredible. It's a really big figure,

0:36:47 > 0:36:51so I'm very pleased with that.

0:36:51 > 0:36:54No prizes for guessing how this vote's going to go.

0:37:00 > 0:37:03- BOTH:- New Zealand. - No-brainer, isn't it, you know?

0:37:03 > 0:37:07We've seen the figures, and we'd be much better off

0:37:07 > 0:37:10in New Zealand than we are currently in the UK.

0:37:10 > 0:37:12An easy vote, really.

0:37:12 > 0:37:13Yeah. I agree with you.

0:37:13 > 0:37:17I mean, based on what we've actually seen and done,

0:37:17 > 0:37:20I think our lives will be much better off living in New Zealand.

0:37:24 > 0:37:27As the positives continue to add up,

0:37:27 > 0:37:31messages from home remind the family just how difficult a move could be.

0:37:31 > 0:37:34- Shall we have a look?- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:37:36 > 0:37:38- ALL:- Hello, Mrengos!

0:37:38 > 0:37:41Hi, Mwakere and Jana, Samuel and Tamara.

0:37:41 > 0:37:44We hope you're having a fantastic time in New Zealand.

0:37:44 > 0:37:47- Hello.- Hello.- Hello.

0:37:47 > 0:37:49Hi, guys. Hope you're having a great time.

0:37:49 > 0:37:54They are so lovely, hospitable, they do anything for anyone.

0:37:54 > 0:37:56They're just wonderful. They're ever so caring.

0:37:56 > 0:38:00They'll always be there for you, and they are just wonderful friends.

0:38:00 > 0:38:03I just clicked with Jana the minute I met her.

0:38:03 > 0:38:04She's like a sister in a way.

0:38:04 > 0:38:06Really close friend.

0:38:06 > 0:38:10Samuel and Tamara are such lovely children.

0:38:10 > 0:38:12They're very well brought up.

0:38:12 > 0:38:14They're lovely to be around.

0:38:14 > 0:38:17They're both really, um,

0:38:17 > 0:38:23caring and whenever you are feeling sad, they will be there for you.

0:38:23 > 0:38:25There's an itchy feet issue here.

0:38:25 > 0:38:30They both travelled a long way to come to this part of the world,

0:38:30 > 0:38:34and they both, over the years, have shown interest in moving on.

0:38:34 > 0:38:37I would be very, very sad, but I could see it happening.

0:38:37 > 0:38:41They are so ready to go out and get life in a different way

0:38:41 > 0:38:46that they have maybe not been able to in the UK that they'll just soar.

0:38:46 > 0:38:48Honestly, I'll be really sad if they go.

0:38:48 > 0:38:53I think the biggest thing that really we'll miss is their readiness

0:38:53 > 0:38:58to be available at times when things are going not so well,

0:38:58 > 0:39:01and they contribute to our family so much.

0:39:01 > 0:39:07They're so encouraging to others and helpful, and you know,

0:39:07 > 0:39:09we will miss them incredibly, won't we?

0:39:09 > 0:39:11It'll be devastating.

0:39:11 > 0:39:13And we know they'll be there at the end of Skype or the phone,

0:39:13 > 0:39:16but actually just the proximity of them,

0:39:16 > 0:39:18knowing they're not just round the corner.

0:39:18 > 0:39:20We really love you

0:39:20 > 0:39:21and we will miss you.

0:39:21 > 0:39:26We want the very best for you in life, and we just say,

0:39:26 > 0:39:27God's blessings all the way.

0:39:28 > 0:39:30And I know in your hearts,

0:39:30 > 0:39:33you'll know what's right for you and for the kids as well.

0:39:33 > 0:39:36We will miss you if you do decide to go.

0:39:36 > 0:39:39So you'd better get a house that's got enough room

0:39:39 > 0:39:41for us to come and land on you for a holiday!

0:39:41 > 0:39:45And we'll come see you as soon as we can, and we'll be praying for you.

0:39:45 > 0:39:50Samuel and Tamara have been such great friends, and...

0:39:50 > 0:39:53but we just hope you get what's right for you.

0:39:58 > 0:39:59Very emotional.

0:39:59 > 0:40:01You know, they're all being very supporting.

0:40:01 > 0:40:05I hope they all know how much we value their friendship

0:40:05 > 0:40:08and how much they mean to us.

0:40:09 > 0:40:12At the start of the week, the Mrengos said there was

0:40:12 > 0:40:15no plan B if their trial week in New Zealand didn't

0:40:15 > 0:40:18live up to expectations.

0:40:18 > 0:40:22So as they approach the final vote, how did plan A go?

0:40:25 > 0:40:27It may not have delivered on sunshine,

0:40:27 > 0:40:30but the trial week hasn't cast any clouds on

0:40:30 > 0:40:33Jana's hopes of a fresh start in New Zealand.

0:40:33 > 0:40:35It is still the dream.

0:40:35 > 0:40:37Yes, I know I've been a bit with the weather and everything,

0:40:37 > 0:40:41but like with everything, you have to look at the bigger picture.

0:40:41 > 0:40:46Messages from home, however, did provide some serious food for thought.

0:40:47 > 0:40:51These are people that we have known for many years,

0:40:51 > 0:40:54that we have gone through stuff with many years.

0:40:54 > 0:40:56But after you've seen it, you're just like,

0:40:56 > 0:40:58do you really want to leave that behind?

0:40:58 > 0:41:01Because you've got such tight friendships there.

0:41:01 > 0:41:04Friendships are important to the Mrengos,

0:41:04 > 0:41:08and they have been impressed with the welcome they've received in New Zealand.

0:41:08 > 0:41:10Whether you went to the beach, people just greet you,

0:41:10 > 0:41:12whether you're out and about, people say hi,

0:41:12 > 0:41:15and it's not that they don't do that in the UK,

0:41:15 > 0:41:18but people say it meaningfully.

0:41:18 > 0:41:22It's sort of made it a bit more reassuring that moving on the other side

0:41:22 > 0:41:26of the world, yes, you lose your friends you have back in the UK,

0:41:26 > 0:41:31but it might not be as hard to make and meet new people.

0:41:31 > 0:41:35So at the final turn of the cards,

0:41:35 > 0:41:39it's time for the family to decide where they'll spend the rest of their lives.

0:41:40 > 0:41:45It's definitely not an easy decision to make, obviously,

0:41:45 > 0:41:47to decide where do you want to settle.

0:41:47 > 0:41:50There's no denying that things have been working out,

0:41:50 > 0:41:52but there's still a bit more things to do,

0:41:52 > 0:41:54so we're just going to have to see.

0:41:54 > 0:41:58And I'm hoping that Jana and I are on the same page when it comes to that.

0:42:00 > 0:42:02All that remains is to vote.

0:42:02 > 0:42:04Will it be heart over head?

0:42:06 > 0:42:09Our final vote for where we would like to live goes to...

0:42:20 > 0:42:21- ALL:- New Zealand.

0:42:22 > 0:42:25Well... Almost unanimous.

0:42:25 > 0:42:29For me, it was always going to be New Zealand.

0:42:29 > 0:42:33It was all very positive, and we will be better off here.

0:42:33 > 0:42:35I think it's convinced me that, definitely, New Zealand

0:42:35 > 0:42:38is the place to come and live, so it's just time, really,

0:42:38 > 0:42:40to see how we can make this move a reality.

0:42:45 > 0:42:49Although it was anything but sunny during their trial week,

0:42:49 > 0:42:54it seems the warmth of the welcome the Mrengos received in New Zealand

0:42:54 > 0:42:56was enough to convince Jana and Mwakere

0:42:56 > 0:43:00that another huge life move could be worth making.

0:43:00 > 0:43:05All they have to do now is convince little Samuel, and who knows?

0:43:05 > 0:43:08The next time we catch up with the family,

0:43:08 > 0:43:11they could be fully-fledged Kiwis.

0:43:11 > 0:43:13We wish them all the best for the future.
