0:00:02 > 0:00:06It's a huge risk to move your family

0:00:06 > 0:00:09to the other side of the world in search of a better life

0:00:09 > 0:00:14for your children, especially when none of them actually want to go.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17The Cook family are divided about the benefits

0:00:17 > 0:00:19of a new life in Australia.

0:00:19 > 0:00:23Jai is desperate to move, but her family just don't share her dream.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26I think if we don't do it over the next couple of years,

0:00:26 > 0:00:29our time will have passed and I will regret it every day.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32Jai's husband, Murray, is unsure.

0:00:32 > 0:00:36Going into the unknown is quite scary. It's a big financial worry.

0:00:36 > 0:00:40But the children are sure. They don't want to leave their friends

0:00:40 > 0:00:43and life in the UK, so will Australia win them round...

0:00:43 > 0:00:46How many would like to come and live in Australia?

0:00:46 > 0:00:51- Not me!- ..or will the emotional pull of home prove too strong?

0:00:51 > 0:00:54Leaving Dad and stuff and people like that.

0:00:54 > 0:00:59It would break my heart if they went to Australia, it really would.

0:01:21 > 0:01:26Australia's sunny climate and miles of beautiful coastline

0:01:26 > 0:01:30has long been a draw for people looking for a new life abroad.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33On average, almost 100 Brits emigrate to Australia every day,

0:01:33 > 0:01:37but it doesn't always live up to their expectations

0:01:37 > 0:01:42and roughly a third return home, but it doesn't stop people trying.

0:01:42 > 0:01:46The Cooks may think Australia will give them the family life

0:01:46 > 0:01:51they so desperately crave, but have they thought it through?

0:01:51 > 0:01:55We're giving them a week to try out life Down Under

0:01:55 > 0:01:58before they have to make the biggest decision of their lives.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Meet the Cook family. 36-year-old Murray,

0:02:04 > 0:02:08his wife Jai, who's 38, their son Alfie who's 7,

0:02:08 > 0:02:11and Jai's older daughters, 12-year-old Libby,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14and Ellie who's 11.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18They live in the village of Ashton Keynes in Wiltshire,

0:02:18 > 0:02:20an area where Murray has lived all his life.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24Murray is a plasterer with a successful business in the area

0:02:24 > 0:02:28and whilst it's his job that will help them get their visa,

0:02:28 > 0:02:29it's Jai's dream to move Down Under,

0:02:29 > 0:02:33and she knows she's got her work cut out to persuade the family.

0:02:33 > 0:02:38I'm definitely the driving force behind this idea.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42It's something that I've always wanted to do and DO want to do,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44and I think now is the right time in our life to do it.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48It's just basically getting everybody else on board with the idea.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51It's the desire for a better family life for the children

0:02:51 > 0:02:54that's driving the plans for the move.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57We're actually doing all of this for the children's benefit,

0:02:57 > 0:03:00so that we can give them the things that we want to give them

0:03:00 > 0:03:01but can't at the moment,

0:03:01 > 0:03:04and they can't actually see the advantage of that.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07- Maybe they don't want to spend more time with us.- Possibly!

0:03:07 > 0:03:10That might actually be... We hadn't considered that!

0:03:10 > 0:03:12For Libby and Ellie,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15it will mean saying goodbye to their father Richard.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19I would find it hard to leave my dad but I wouldn't just miss him,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21I'd miss the rest of my family.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24It's a huge emotional decision.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28Leaving Dad and stuff and people like that.

0:03:28 > 0:03:33For football-mad Alfie, the decision is simpler.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36If I could take my team then I would want to go

0:03:36 > 0:03:39because I could play football more often.

0:03:39 > 0:03:43And Libby's got one equally impossible condition.

0:03:43 > 0:03:47To get the biggest suitcase and just fit all my friends and family in

0:03:47 > 0:03:48and bring them along with me.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51Jai not only has to convince her children,

0:03:51 > 0:03:54Murray has serious reservations as well.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Everybody I know is around this area, basically friends and family.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01It would be very hard on both my parents but more so my mum.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04It'll be different that they're not just down the road

0:04:04 > 0:04:06and I can't just pop and see them.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Murray understands just how risky the move could be.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13I know what I have here and I know the stability of the work here.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17Going into the unknown is quite scary. It's a big financial worry.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20I think he finds the risks very daunting.

0:04:20 > 0:04:23He fears he won't be able to support the family

0:04:23 > 0:04:26whereas if it was just he and I, I don't think it would be a concern.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29It's an emotionally charged decision for the whole family,

0:04:29 > 0:04:32which seems destined to leave someone broken hearted.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34If we don't do it over the next couple of years

0:04:34 > 0:04:39I'll be devastated and I will regret it every day.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42So everything is at stake for the Cooks

0:04:42 > 0:04:45as they face this life-changing decision.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48But where in Australia should they go?

0:04:48 > 0:04:52We could send them to Adelaide in South Australia.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55This coastal city could be the perfect place for the Cooks

0:04:55 > 0:04:59to find their dream home as it offers more affordable property

0:04:59 > 0:05:02than other Australian cities.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05But wages are much lower, meaning Murray might struggle

0:05:05 > 0:05:07to match his UK income.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10On the upside, with 10% of the population UK-born,

0:05:10 > 0:05:13the Cooks would feel at home.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16Perhaps a smaller city like Ipswich in Queensland

0:05:16 > 0:05:20is more appropriate for a family used to village life.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22With a population of 160,000,

0:05:22 > 0:05:25Ipswich has good schools for the children

0:05:25 > 0:05:30and Brisbane is only 25 miles away, giving plenty of work options for Murray.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33And with new estates popping up all over, the Cooks should be able

0:05:33 > 0:05:35to find a house they like.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37Maybe a bigger city like Darwin

0:05:37 > 0:05:40in the Northern Territory would be better.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42It's one of Australia's fastest-growing cities

0:05:42 > 0:05:46so Murray shouldn't have a problem getting work.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49With plenty of beaches, parks and gardens,

0:05:49 > 0:05:52it could be a perfect place for the children.

0:05:52 > 0:05:57But on the downside, with the average house price of £357,000,

0:05:57 > 0:06:00the Cooks may struggle to find their ideal home.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03So where are we going to send them?

0:06:03 > 0:06:07We decided to send them to Ipswich, a city just west of Brisbane.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10The whole move will hinge on the kind of lifestyle

0:06:10 > 0:06:13they can afford, so will they find their dream home?

0:06:13 > 0:06:16I do like this property a great deal.

0:06:16 > 0:06:17I'm not sold on it at the moment,

0:06:17 > 0:06:21There's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight properties

0:06:21 > 0:06:25Eight properties just in your own garden. That's a heck of a lot.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28And for Murray, his job is crucial.

0:06:28 > 0:06:33Today is going to be a make or break day, I say.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36How easy is it to pick up work around here?

0:06:36 > 0:06:38It has been a bit of a quiet period lately.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41But nothing compares to the emotional upheaval

0:06:41 > 0:06:43of leaving loved ones behind.

0:06:43 > 0:06:47Going for good is quite difficult.

0:06:47 > 0:06:52It would break my heart if they went to Australia, it really would.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54They have a soul-searching week ahead.

0:06:54 > 0:06:58Based on what we have seen, we're going to vote for...

0:06:58 > 0:07:01That was a bit of a shock... and it was!

0:07:03 > 0:07:07After 22 hours, three flights, and nearly 11,000 miles,

0:07:07 > 0:07:10the Cooks finally land at Brisbane airport.

0:07:10 > 0:07:15The gruelling flight hasn't dented Jai's enthusiasm.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18I'm quite excited, I'm looking forward to getting my teeth into

0:07:18 > 0:07:22looking at the local area and having a look round to see what's on offer.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24But Murray is less sure.

0:07:24 > 0:07:28I'm a bit nervous. Certainly seeing about the work coming up

0:07:28 > 0:07:31and the difference of what it's going to be for me.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33Yeah, a bit nervous.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36- I want to go to the beach. - There you go!

0:07:36 > 0:07:39Jai is sold on Australia straight away and tries to persuade

0:07:39 > 0:07:42the children before they've left the airport.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44It's sunny and warm and you just think

0:07:44 > 0:07:47this is the reason people emigrate, because of the weather.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50Wouldn't you like this kind of weather all the time?

0:07:50 > 0:07:52No, I like the sun

0:07:52 > 0:07:56but I'd get bored with it just being like this all the time.

0:08:00 > 0:08:04Home for the Cooks during their week is in the Ipswich suburb of Silkstone.

0:08:04 > 0:08:08The journey from the airport seems to have exhausted young Alfie.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11A nice garden, kids. You can probably play out in front.

0:08:11 > 0:08:16They'll be staying in a traditional four-bed Queenslander-style house.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19I like the fact that there's two living areas,

0:08:19 > 0:08:23there's one there for the TV and, like our book room,

0:08:23 > 0:08:25you've got a separate reading area.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29Yes, we've got two little living spaces to accommodate everybody, doesn't it?

0:08:29 > 0:08:33After a quick tour of the rest of the house, Murray finds his favourite spot.

0:08:33 > 0:08:34This is lovely, isn't it?

0:08:34 > 0:08:38You can get up in the morning and walk out onto this every morning.

0:08:38 > 0:08:39Cup of tea.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41Listen to them birds. Beautiful.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44We could even time it properly so we wake up before the kids

0:08:44 > 0:08:46and have an hour's peace.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49I don't think we'll be that lucky!

0:08:49 > 0:08:52But as thoughts turn to the week ahead,

0:08:52 > 0:08:55Jai knows exactly what she needs to do to secure her Australian dream.

0:08:55 > 0:09:00I think definitely the children are the point of contention

0:09:00 > 0:09:04at the minute. I would move here tomorrow given the opportunity

0:09:04 > 0:09:07but I think the children still need to be convinced

0:09:07 > 0:09:09that this is a good move for us.

0:09:09 > 0:09:11Trying to persuade them would be

0:09:11 > 0:09:16a harder task than I think the wife is letting on.

0:09:16 > 0:09:21They've got their own minds and they're very strong in what they believe in as well.

0:09:21 > 0:09:25So...yeah, it's going to be a difficult challenge.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Back in the UK, the Cooks live in this four-bedroom house

0:09:32 > 0:09:36in Wiltshire, which they've renovated and extended.

0:09:36 > 0:09:41They think their comfortable family home is worth £280,000

0:09:41 > 0:09:43and they'll need every penny of that in Australia.

0:09:43 > 0:09:48There's no doubt the Cooks will want to find the right home

0:09:48 > 0:09:52to make this highly emotional move seem worthwhile.

0:09:52 > 0:09:56But finding that dream house will depend on where they choose to live

0:09:56 > 0:10:00and ultimately, how much they have to spend.

0:10:00 > 0:10:04Life in the city could offer more work options for Murray

0:10:04 > 0:10:08and plenty of activities for the whole family.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11But with contemporary four-bedroom homes like this on the market

0:10:11 > 0:10:16for around £360,000, the Cooks may have to move further out of town

0:10:16 > 0:10:18to afford the space they want.

0:10:20 > 0:10:24If it's life by the sea they want, they could try the Gold Coast,

0:10:24 > 0:10:29but it would mean a 45-minute commute to work for Murray.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32With average house prices around £290,000,

0:10:32 > 0:10:36the Cooks may be stretched to find a house to match their UK home.

0:10:38 > 0:10:41For a family used to village life,

0:10:41 > 0:10:44a country suburb like Blackstone could be the perfect choice.

0:10:44 > 0:10:48Traditional wooden houses built in the colonial style like this one

0:10:48 > 0:10:50come with plenty of rustic charm,

0:10:50 > 0:10:55and its nine acres of land offer them all the space they want.

0:10:55 > 0:11:00Priced at £350,000, it's more than the Cooks' budget,

0:11:00 > 0:11:03but there are plenty of other affordable options.

0:11:03 > 0:11:07They're keen to look at more rural properties

0:11:07 > 0:11:10so we are sending them to the country suburbs,

0:11:10 > 0:11:13and they start their search in the nearby town of Ladley

0:11:13 > 0:11:16with this four-bedroom Queenslander home.

0:11:16 > 0:11:20Set back from the road, it has a large front and back garden.

0:11:20 > 0:11:25On the market for £187,000, it's well within the Cooks' budget.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28But is it what they're looking for?

0:11:28 > 0:11:32Estate agent Gay Flynn is here to show them round.

0:11:32 > 0:11:36Just have a look around, if you've got any questions just ask me.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38- OK.- Thank you.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41I like those glass windows.

0:11:41 > 0:11:46- I like that.- Stained-glass windows, that's nice.- I do like that.

0:11:48 > 0:11:52Oh look, you can just come out in the morning and have a look.

0:11:52 > 0:11:57Yes, this is nice. Coming out in the morning to this. Oh, wow.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00What do you think? Could you see yourselves in these bedrooms?

0:12:00 > 0:12:05- I'd want that one in there. - That'll be mine!- That'll be mine!

0:12:05 > 0:12:07It's been sold!

0:12:07 > 0:12:09Jai is keen to convince the children

0:12:09 > 0:12:13but finding the right home is only part of the story.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15But has Jai spotted a problem?

0:12:15 > 0:12:18Gay? Is this the only bathroom?

0:12:18 > 0:12:23Yes, it is. The toilet is separate, it's just off the family room there.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26You possibly have an option that you could use that little room

0:12:26 > 0:12:30off the bedroom to make an en suite. You've got the room to do that.

0:12:30 > 0:12:33I love the staircase.

0:12:33 > 0:12:37Oh, wow, this is a nice space. Shut all your kids away!

0:12:37 > 0:12:39No, this could be our lounge area.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42We could have the kitchen diner, and maybe...

0:12:42 > 0:12:44- This could be the living space, yes. - ..a slob area.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47And then down here, we could have as the lounge

0:12:47 > 0:12:49because it's so much bigger to put the TV in.

0:12:49 > 0:12:54In her rush to mentally move in, Jai's not counted the bedrooms.

0:12:54 > 0:12:57Yes, I had forgotten there's only two bedrooms.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00You'd have to have these two as bedrooms,

0:13:00 > 0:13:02so you've got four bedrooms.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05This would be the lounge and then upstairs,

0:13:05 > 0:13:08you'd have the study/book room and the kitchen diner.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10Murray knows how much the move means to Jai.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12He's looking for the positives.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15More room than what we're used to and it's ideal, really.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17But it'll take more than a house to convince him

0:13:17 > 0:13:19it's the right move for the family.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22There's no bad points to this house. I would move in tomorrow.

0:13:22 > 0:13:27Even though it's pink, I would move in tomorrow. It's amazing.

0:13:27 > 0:13:31- I don't like the pink. - It's cosmetic.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34Yes, but I'd have to change the cosmetics.

0:13:36 > 0:13:38Pink or not, it's a winner for Jai

0:13:38 > 0:13:42but will property two prove as popular?

0:13:42 > 0:13:45It's a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the suburb of Yamanto.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48It would give the Cooks all the space they want.

0:13:48 > 0:13:53Priced at around £225,000, it could be within the Cooks' reach

0:13:53 > 0:13:56if they sell their UK home at the right price.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59So as the children check out the garden,

0:13:59 > 0:14:02Murray and Jai take a look at the house.

0:14:03 > 0:14:05Oh, wow.

0:14:05 > 0:14:10- Oh, wow. Oh, wow! I like this area. - Oh, yes, very nice.

0:14:10 > 0:14:13- I like this kitchen diner.- Do you?

0:14:13 > 0:14:15Yeah, I do. I quite like that. It's quite nice

0:14:15 > 0:14:19because then you've got a family area within the kitchen...

0:14:19 > 0:14:22- which is nice.- I like the separate dining area.- Oh, wow.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25The study's here already set up, isn't it?

0:14:25 > 0:14:28- Study/living room kind of area... - which is nice

0:14:28 > 0:14:32and you're not losing the space from your lounge

0:14:32 > 0:14:34by having your study there

0:14:34 > 0:14:38- because it's big enough to accommodate both, isn't it?- Hmm.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41Yes. Don't think I'd have the study in the lounge, though.

0:14:41 > 0:14:46Jai can only see the positives but Murray has concerns.

0:14:46 > 0:14:51See, even for a child's room, it's still a good size, isn't it?

0:14:51 > 0:14:55- It certainly is, yes. - It's got built-in wardrobes.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58- You could still easily fit a double bed in here.- Oh, yes.

0:14:58 > 0:15:02I'm not sure about the light on the wall. That's strange, isn't it?

0:15:02 > 0:15:04With the fan in the middle of the ceiling,

0:15:04 > 0:15:06you can't put the light there, can you?

0:15:06 > 0:15:09I would worry about Alfie touching them fans

0:15:09 > 0:15:12cos they are low enough, aren't they?

0:15:12 > 0:15:17- He'd only do it once, wouldn't he?! - Well... Once too many. After you.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Well, the house seems to be getting the thumbs up from Jai at least

0:15:20 > 0:15:22but what about the garden?

0:15:22 > 0:15:26It seems the children have found something they like.

0:15:26 > 0:15:30- Got something to show you. - What?- What?- Over here.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32It's adult brave!

0:15:32 > 0:15:35That's quite a nice size as well, isn't it?

0:15:35 > 0:15:37It's not too big but it's not too small.

0:15:37 > 0:15:42It's a nice size, isn't it, yes? Just to relax and refresh, isn't it?

0:15:42 > 0:15:44But Jai's not sure about the added costs.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47You'd have to pay to have it cleaned.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49That's a self-cleaning thing there, isn't it?

0:15:49 > 0:15:52That thing inside the water's doing it for you,

0:15:52 > 0:15:54It sticks to the side and goes round.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58- It doesn't get the leaves out. - Well, no, it's just a net, isn't it?

0:15:58 > 0:16:01Murray's found the perfect solution.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04- It could be Alfie's Sunday morning chore.- Yeah!

0:16:04 > 0:16:07So what's the verdict on this house?

0:16:07 > 0:16:11The downstairs is probably more spacious on this property,

0:16:11 > 0:16:15but I like the charm and character of the Queenslander.

0:16:15 > 0:16:17I do like the downstairs.

0:16:17 > 0:16:22The feel of the house is a bit more English home downstairs.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26Yes, the overlooking closeness of all the other houses here

0:16:26 > 0:16:28is a bit too much, I think.

0:16:28 > 0:16:33Jai knows it's the children who hold the key to her dream life Down Under, so what do they think?

0:16:33 > 0:16:37I'm not sure about everything at the moment, really.

0:16:37 > 0:16:43That doesn't sound very hopeful but Jai still has time to win them over.

0:16:43 > 0:16:46Maybe property three will do the trick.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48Situated in a suburb of Woodend,

0:16:48 > 0:16:52it's a five-bedroom open-plan home with a good-sized garden.

0:16:52 > 0:16:57At around £325,000, it's well out of the Cooks' reach

0:16:57 > 0:17:00on just Murray's salary, but if Jai got a job

0:17:00 > 0:17:03they might just be able to stretch to it.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08- I like the furniture. - It's a nice hallway.

0:17:08 > 0:17:09Yes.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14- I like this. - Oh, wow. It's different.

0:17:14 > 0:17:18That's really made good use of the space. You don't like that?

0:17:18 > 0:17:23I'm not sure I like the kitchen and dining in the sitting room.

0:17:23 > 0:17:27Jai knows she must remain upbeat about Aussie property

0:17:27 > 0:17:32if she's to convince the family to move, but Murray certainly has his doubts.

0:17:32 > 0:17:33Yes, it is a bit strange.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38- Well, this is a good-sized room. - Oh, yeah.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41Oh, and you can walk straight out on the veranda in the morning.

0:17:41 > 0:17:45Yes, very nice. Or we can sit here and watch cricket.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48- That's what I was thinking. The view out of the front...- Fantastic!

0:17:48 > 0:17:50A cricket pitch. You could sit watch it all day.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54But after a quick tour of the rest of the upstairs,

0:17:54 > 0:17:58- they're still not sure.- I do like this property a great deal.

0:17:58 > 0:18:03I am concerned, though, about how we would fit all of our furniture

0:18:03 > 0:18:09for a lounge, dining room and kitchen into this one area.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12They both know familiar home comforts are important

0:18:12 > 0:18:16to help the family settle in after such a huge move.

0:18:16 > 0:18:20- OK...we can bring our furniture. - Yes.

0:18:20 > 0:18:24- That's...- That's an awful lot of extra space, isn't it?

0:18:24 > 0:18:27So now not only is Jai moving her furniture in,

0:18:27 > 0:18:29she's also got bigger plans.

0:18:29 > 0:18:32You know what you could do with this area?

0:18:32 > 0:18:36You could turn this into like a granny flat

0:18:36 > 0:18:38for when the parents come to stay.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40- Yeah.- So they'd have their own space.

0:18:40 > 0:18:42- OK.- You hadn't thought about that, had you?!

0:18:42 > 0:18:44We can get a caravan for that!

0:18:44 > 0:18:49But as they check out the garden, Murray spots a problem.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52If you turn around, how many properties can you see?

0:18:52 > 0:18:54There's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.

0:18:54 > 0:18:58Eight properties just in your own garden, that's a heck of a lot.

0:18:58 > 0:19:03I'm not sold on it at the moment but it certainly working on me, yes.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05I think it's quite a shock to come here

0:19:05 > 0:19:08and see that the majority of the properties are open plan.

0:19:08 > 0:19:10That could be difficult for him to get used to.

0:19:10 > 0:19:13I don't think he's a big fan of it, really.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18They seem to have different ideas about Australian homes.

0:19:18 > 0:19:21While Jai fell in love with property one,

0:19:21 > 0:19:24Murray was worried about the upkeep.

0:19:24 > 0:19:27He liked the English feel of property number two,

0:19:27 > 0:19:31but Jai preferred the charm and character of the Queenslander.

0:19:31 > 0:19:35And while Jai can see the potential of property three,

0:19:35 > 0:19:39its lack of privacy and location were a concern for Murray.

0:19:39 > 0:19:44So how will they vote on the properties they've seen?

0:19:44 > 0:19:47They've all been, in my opinion, very spacious,

0:19:47 > 0:19:50very good value for money, and based on what we have seen today,

0:19:50 > 0:19:53we are going to vote for...

0:19:54 > 0:19:58- Australia!- England.- Don't know.

0:19:58 > 0:20:02Oh...that's a bit of a surprise,

0:20:02 > 0:20:05I thought you would have gone one way or the other.

0:20:05 > 0:20:07Come on, vote for England. Vote for England!

0:20:07 > 0:20:09Mum, like you always say,

0:20:09 > 0:20:12- you've got to let people choose in their own time.- I know!

0:20:12 > 0:20:16- I'll work on you afterwards! - Oh, God.

0:20:19 > 0:20:22With only two votes for Australia,

0:20:22 > 0:20:27it looks like Jai has her work cut out to persuade the family.

0:20:27 > 0:20:32But all her efforts could be in vain if Murray can't find a job he likes.

0:20:32 > 0:20:35Back in the UK, Murray has built up

0:20:35 > 0:20:39his own successful plastering business with a trusted reputation.

0:20:39 > 0:20:41As the boss, he sets his own hours,

0:20:41 > 0:20:45but finds the pressure of work can also eat into family time.

0:20:45 > 0:20:46But in Australia,

0:20:46 > 0:20:50at least to start with, he'd be working for someone else.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53He needs to feel comfortable and secure in his work

0:20:53 > 0:20:55if he's ever to consider the move Down Under

0:20:55 > 0:20:59and this is weighing heavily on his mind.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02At the moment, driving to work, I'm a bit nervous...

0:21:02 > 0:21:05Don't know what to expect, really.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Hoping that it's pretty similar to home.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11I'd like to spend more time with the children.

0:21:11 > 0:21:15That's primarily why we're looking at Australia

0:21:15 > 0:21:18so we can have a better time with the kids.

0:21:18 > 0:21:22Not working so long hours and night time and weekends, you know.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25It's going to be really interesting.

0:21:25 > 0:21:29Today is going to be a make or break day, I would say.

0:21:29 > 0:21:33But before he can get his hands dirty, there's a setback.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37The rain has halted work on the building site so Murray's off

0:21:37 > 0:21:40to meet plastering boss Donnie Starley at a smaller job.

0:21:43 > 0:21:48Keen to see what he can do, Donnie sets Murray to work straightaway.

0:21:50 > 0:21:53And Murray needs to be sure that there will be opportunities

0:21:53 > 0:21:56for him in Australia.

0:21:56 > 0:21:57How easy is it to pick up work?

0:21:57 > 0:22:00It has been a bit of a quiet period lately,

0:22:00 > 0:22:02but we're picking up heaps of work again now,

0:22:02 > 0:22:07and people are telling me that it's going to start picking up again.

0:22:07 > 0:22:11I mean, before, it was hard to find renderers.

0:22:11 > 0:22:13As I said, I had a couple come from England.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16Got a couple of guys from New Zealand.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19So yes, at the moment, it's a little harder but it is picking up again.

0:22:19 > 0:22:22- The work is still there? - Yes, the work's still...

0:22:22 > 0:22:24- I've just put on two new guys this last week.- Oh, right.

0:22:24 > 0:22:28Well, that's positive. At least Murray could find work

0:22:28 > 0:22:33but Jai knows their move to Australia rests on the children.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36So in a bid to entice them Down Under, Jai takes the girls

0:22:36 > 0:22:38to the local trampolining club.

0:22:38 > 0:22:43If she's to keep her dream alive, she knows she must convince them.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46It's really all about the children.

0:22:46 > 0:22:50I think if it was down to Murray and I, I'd probably win Murray over

0:22:50 > 0:22:53in a heartbeat and we could come but I think the children

0:22:53 > 0:22:56are the sticking point. Unless we get them on board,

0:22:56 > 0:23:00I think it's probably going to be a bit of a no-go unfortunately.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03And she's not leaving anything to chance in her attempts

0:23:03 > 0:23:06to persuade football-mad Alfie.

0:23:11 > 0:23:15I think, actually, Alfie, now that he knows that it's feasible

0:23:15 > 0:23:18to play football in Australia and it's not something

0:23:18 > 0:23:21he has to leave behind,

0:23:21 > 0:23:23I think that could be a real winning point for him, yes.

0:23:23 > 0:23:27Well, the children seem to have had a good day. But what about Murray?

0:23:27 > 0:23:30Before he can decide, he's keen to get some answers from Donnie.

0:23:30 > 0:23:33What kind of hours would I be expected to work

0:23:33 > 0:23:35if I came over and maybe come to work for yourself?

0:23:35 > 0:23:40Working for me, I pretty much try and keep to the 40-hour week,

0:23:40 > 0:23:44try not to work weekends. Some of my boys have family and stuff

0:23:44 > 0:23:46- so they like to spend it with them.- Yes.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49But some of the bigger gangs, especially on the high-rises

0:23:49 > 0:23:52- and that, I've heard of 60-70 hours a week.- Blimey.

0:23:52 > 0:23:58So again it depends on who you're working for. A minimum of 40,

0:23:58 > 0:24:00that's the normal kind of working week.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03- Oh, right, OK.- And then any kind of overtime after that.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05What would, roughly, the annual salary be?

0:24:05 > 0:24:07We pay hourly rate. 30 is your average

0:24:07 > 0:24:12kind of spread across the industry, across the housing industry anyway.

0:24:12 > 0:24:14That's all very positive.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18Working full time, Murray could match his UK salary,

0:24:18 > 0:24:22and Jai knows just how crucial financial security is to their move.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25I know he wants to do well today

0:24:25 > 0:24:27and I think, depending on the outcome of today,

0:24:27 > 0:24:30it will have an impact on his decision

0:24:30 > 0:24:32to do this as a full-time move.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35So I'm really hoping it goes well. Obviously!

0:24:35 > 0:24:38It's time to find out. How will Murray vote?

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Unfortunately, I didn't get to see as much as I would have liked.

0:24:41 > 0:24:46Because of the weather, we had to change jobs.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49So I'm going to vote for...

0:24:49 > 0:24:51England.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54Despite earning the same money in Australia, Murray would have

0:24:54 > 0:24:57to give up the business and reputation he's worked so hard

0:24:57 > 0:25:02to establish in the UK. It's a tough decision to make.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09That's another blow to Jai's dream.

0:25:09 > 0:25:12If they can't afford a better life Down Under,

0:25:12 > 0:25:16there's no way Murray will make the move,

0:25:16 > 0:25:21so it's crucial they get the right price for the sale of their UK home.

0:25:21 > 0:25:26Jai and Murray bought their house for £113,000 nine years ago,

0:25:26 > 0:25:29but with a large extension they've added,

0:25:29 > 0:25:33Jai now thinks it's worth around £280,000.

0:25:33 > 0:25:38It's crucial they get a good price. Their future plans rely on it.

0:25:38 > 0:25:41We sent three local estate agents round to value the house

0:25:41 > 0:25:42in the prevailing market.

0:25:42 > 0:25:46Good-size room, nice having the down lighters.

0:25:46 > 0:25:50Quite low-maintenance flooring makes it quite handy for a family

0:25:50 > 0:25:53and also door through to the kitchen, so quite practical.

0:25:57 > 0:25:59Some lovely big rooms, got some choice decor.

0:25:59 > 0:26:04There's a few bits that need touching up, but overall, it's a good size here.

0:26:09 > 0:26:15Nicely fitted kitchen, built-in appliances and good workspace.

0:26:18 > 0:26:23A white suite, always popular, quite modern and contemporary,

0:26:23 > 0:26:25lovely size bath, great for the family

0:26:25 > 0:26:28and having a separate shower's very useful. Very handy.

0:26:30 > 0:26:33A good-sized master bedroom.

0:26:33 > 0:26:36A few things to tidy up round the edges again.

0:26:36 > 0:26:40Well, this is obviously the son's bedroom, very keen on football.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43I think to sell a house, it always is better to see a bit more paint

0:26:43 > 0:26:48on the walls than posters but yes, a Chelsea supporter.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51THEY LAUGH

0:26:51 > 0:26:54Interesting four-bedroom house,

0:26:54 > 0:26:56obviously had a big extension in the past.

0:26:56 > 0:27:00Would suit a family and certainly, it's got good-sized accommodation.

0:27:00 > 0:27:04Location wise, it's a popular village and there is lack of availability in Ashton Keynes.

0:27:04 > 0:27:07Ideally, inside could do with a little bit of decor

0:27:07 > 0:27:09just to bring it up to top-notch standard.

0:27:09 > 0:27:11Putting a house on the market,

0:27:11 > 0:27:16I would suggest setting a guide price in the region of £265,000.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19Figure wise, I'd probably put it on the market for about 240

0:27:19 > 0:27:22and expect to get a figure of 230-235.

0:27:22 > 0:27:25We would market the property at £215,000

0:27:25 > 0:27:29although for a quick sale, we'd be looking for a figure of £205,000.

0:27:30 > 0:27:34The 240, I thought was probably about right

0:27:34 > 0:27:38and the higher end of 265 was quite surprising, really,

0:27:38 > 0:27:41and obviously, there are bits to do around the house.

0:27:41 > 0:27:46We could even go up a little bit around the higher mark.

0:27:46 > 0:27:49But it's still slightly disconcerting

0:27:49 > 0:27:52that you're looking at a £50,000 difference.

0:27:52 > 0:27:55Well, between estate agents, yes.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58I would have expected them to be a lot closer.

0:27:58 > 0:28:01I think the other guys were probably about right.

0:28:01 > 0:28:06The mid-range. They were a bit older, a bit more experienced.

0:28:06 > 0:28:08The younger guy... Well, 250?

0:28:08 > 0:28:13That's not a bad price for it, compared to what we paid for it.

0:28:13 > 0:28:15I know it's a vast improvement on what we paid,

0:28:15 > 0:28:18but it's still down on our expectations,

0:28:18 > 0:28:21which then affects the property that we could afford in Australia.

0:28:21 > 0:28:24Do you think we will have to get a house like... not one that we've seen,

0:28:24 > 0:28:28more like a smaller one if we did come to Australia?

0:28:28 > 0:28:31I think we'd still be able to afford the pink house,

0:28:31 > 0:28:35which was one we liked best anyway, but what we're saying

0:28:35 > 0:28:38is the other two which were more expensive were very nice

0:28:38 > 0:28:40and had we preferred those houses,

0:28:40 > 0:28:42we wouldn't have been able to afford it.

0:28:42 > 0:28:46Well, we'll just have to wait and see what the cost of living is here

0:28:46 > 0:28:50and compare it to what it is at home and see how we come out on that.

0:28:50 > 0:28:53The property valuation has come as a blow to Jai

0:28:53 > 0:28:57and her dreams of living Down Under hang in the balance.

0:28:57 > 0:29:01We've provided a breakdown of the costs of living in Australia. Can they afford it?

0:29:01 > 0:29:06- Mortgage is considerably lower.- Yes.

0:29:06 > 0:29:09The payment is considerably lower.

0:29:09 > 0:29:12- Yes, fantastic. - We could manage with that a month.

0:29:12 > 0:29:17It would probably be slightly higher,

0:29:17 > 0:29:20noting that our property valuation is lower than that.

0:29:20 > 0:29:25Even if it was double that, we could still afford that quite easily just on your salary.

0:29:25 > 0:29:28- Crikey, look at that. What is that? - Look at the difference in cheese.

0:29:28 > 0:29:30I love cheese, and milk as well.

0:29:30 > 0:29:33That's surprising. I thought milk would be down.

0:29:33 > 0:29:34It's what we were saying.

0:29:34 > 0:29:39- That groceries are more expensive over here than in the UK.- Yeah.

0:29:39 > 0:29:45Our UK income and expenditure is based on us both working.

0:29:45 > 0:29:47- The Aussie one is based on just you working.- Just me.

0:29:47 > 0:29:51So even if you did work, we would still be a lot better off, really.

0:29:51 > 0:29:53So even if I didn't work, if I couldn't get a job,

0:29:53 > 0:29:56we could still support ourselves.

0:29:56 > 0:29:59Yes, just on my salary, couldn't we?

0:29:59 > 0:30:03I could quite enjoy being a lady of leisure.

0:30:03 > 0:30:05On the whole, it doesn't seem too bad.

0:30:05 > 0:30:07It seems quite promising, really.

0:30:07 > 0:30:09I would say that's actually been a pleasant surprise

0:30:09 > 0:30:12because, based on what we'd seen,

0:30:12 > 0:30:15I did think it would be more expensive to live

0:30:15 > 0:30:17but the property would be cheaper.

0:30:17 > 0:30:20So they could be financially better off in Australia.

0:30:20 > 0:30:25Surely this is just the news to put Jai's dream back on track.

0:30:25 > 0:30:27Based on the information we've seen,

0:30:27 > 0:30:30it was pleasing to note that I wouldn't need to work for us

0:30:30 > 0:30:32to survive quite comfortably in Australia.

0:30:32 > 0:30:37And based on that, we are going to vote for...

0:30:37 > 0:30:39BOTH: Australia.

0:30:39 > 0:30:42- Oh, wow. I think that's the first match we've had.- I know.

0:30:42 > 0:30:45I don't like the bit about you "don't need to work".

0:30:45 > 0:30:48I just thought that was really nice, you being the primary,

0:30:48 > 0:30:50you support us all and I'd be a '50s housewife!

0:30:50 > 0:30:53It's not caveman times, you know!

0:30:57 > 0:31:00Finally, they agree on something.

0:31:00 > 0:31:04Jai and Murray can see an affordable future in Australia

0:31:04 > 0:31:07but that's all just still a pipe dream

0:31:07 > 0:31:12if they can't convince the children of the benefits of life Down Under.

0:31:12 > 0:31:15So they're off to the animal sanctuary near Brisbane

0:31:15 > 0:31:18where Jai hopes to build on her earlier success

0:31:18 > 0:31:21with the trampolining and football.

0:31:21 > 0:31:26Will getting the children up close and personal with Aussie wildlife help seal the deal on her dream?

0:31:26 > 0:31:30With Jai convinced on Australian homes and finances,

0:31:30 > 0:31:33she desperately wants the children to fall in love with the lifestyle.

0:31:33 > 0:31:37Park ranger Jackie is on hand with tips on how to handle the animals.

0:31:37 > 0:31:40OK, this is the food to feed the kangaroos

0:31:40 > 0:31:44and what you do is you sprinkle a little bit on your hand,

0:31:44 > 0:31:48and then hold your hand nice and flat

0:31:48 > 0:31:51and they'll just nibble it out of your hand.

0:31:51 > 0:31:55- Will they nibble your hand? - No, no. You'll actually feel their whiskery mouths on your hands

0:31:55 > 0:31:57so it's a bit ticklish sometimes.

0:31:57 > 0:32:02You want some? Would you like some?

0:32:02 > 0:32:06Oh, look at that one, he's wonderful.

0:32:08 > 0:32:12The kangaroos are a big hit and have even got Alfie curious.

0:32:12 > 0:32:14Why have they got black tails?

0:32:14 > 0:32:17Good question, Alfie. I'm not sure why it's black.

0:32:17 > 0:32:20I think it might have something to do with helping them camouflage

0:32:20 > 0:32:23in amongst the grass, but the colour doesn't actually

0:32:23 > 0:32:29have anything to do with how they function or how they move.

0:32:29 > 0:32:33Some of Jai's enthusiasm seems to be rubbing off on the children,

0:32:33 > 0:32:36but is her attempt to win them over really working?

0:32:36 > 0:32:38I think he likes you, Ellie!

0:32:40 > 0:32:43Now, that you've had the opportunity to stroke a koala,

0:32:43 > 0:32:45how many would like to come and live in Australia?

0:32:45 > 0:32:49- Not me.- Me.- Maybe.

0:32:49 > 0:32:53It's a delicate balance for Jai. Push too hard

0:32:53 > 0:32:55and the children won't vote for Australia.

0:32:55 > 0:32:58With their hearts set on the UK, Jai is trying everything

0:32:58 > 0:33:00to change their minds.

0:33:00 > 0:33:02I love snakes, they're really nice.

0:33:02 > 0:33:05Everyone thinks they're slimy but they're smooth.

0:33:05 > 0:33:08So knowing that there are hundreds of snakes in Australia,

0:33:08 > 0:33:10might that make you want to live here?

0:33:10 > 0:33:15- 170 or so, roughly.- A bit more, yes.

0:33:16 > 0:33:20Finally, Jai seems to be winning the children round.

0:33:20 > 0:33:23OK, so is anyone up for a hold? Do you want to have it on your neck?

0:33:23 > 0:33:28- Could you hold the head? I'm happy with the tail.- Sure.

0:33:28 > 0:33:32Libby seems keen but Murray's definitely not a fan.

0:33:32 > 0:33:35I know you don't like snakes, baby, but if it's the only way

0:33:35 > 0:33:38we can get Libby to live in Australia, we might have to buy one.

0:33:38 > 0:33:42Oh, no. She can go live in the shed...or I will!

0:33:42 > 0:33:46So, does Jai think the children are finally falling in love

0:33:46 > 0:33:49with Australia, or is there still some convincing to do?

0:33:49 > 0:33:52I think by the time we leave,

0:33:52 > 0:33:54they will have made their mind up one way or the other.

0:33:54 > 0:33:58I think Ellie probably is quite happy with the prospect

0:33:58 > 0:34:03and even Libby and Alfie do seem a lot more optimistic about it.

0:34:03 > 0:34:07When we left England, they were very much, "No, not interested, don't want to know."

0:34:07 > 0:34:11Now that we're here, they both seem quite settled and quite happy,

0:34:11 > 0:34:15enjoying the climate, enjoying the wildlife.

0:34:15 > 0:34:19So I think there's still hope there that they might change their minds.

0:34:19 > 0:34:22Is she right? How will they vote?

0:34:22 > 0:34:26We've had a lovely day today seeing all the animals that are indigenous to Australia.

0:34:26 > 0:34:29So based on that, we are going to vote...

0:34:29 > 0:34:32- Australia!- Don't know.

0:34:32 > 0:34:36- Well, that's different, isn't it? - Well, we're getting closer. - I've got a different decision.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39We've got three "Australias" and two undecided.

0:34:39 > 0:34:40That is a difference.

0:34:40 > 0:34:43So on this score at least, England was out of the equation...

0:34:43 > 0:34:49- which is good. We're getting there.- We'll see!

0:34:53 > 0:34:56Well, that's one out of three.

0:34:56 > 0:35:01At least it seems Ellie is onside, but if the Cooks are going to make

0:35:01 > 0:35:04the move to the other side of the world, they'll have to cope

0:35:04 > 0:35:09with the emotional upheaval of leaving loved ones behind.

0:35:09 > 0:35:13So we prepared some messages from those back home.

0:35:13 > 0:35:15Hi, Jai. Hi, Murray.

0:35:15 > 0:35:16Hi, Murray, Jai.

0:35:16 > 0:35:18Hi, Lib, Hi, Ell.

0:35:18 > 0:35:21I hope you're having a great time out there in Australia.

0:35:21 > 0:35:26Murray's a very thoughtful person. He phones...

0:35:26 > 0:35:28I don't know what to say about him!

0:35:28 > 0:35:30- He's very caring. - Very, very caring person, yes.

0:35:30 > 0:35:35There's not a day goes by without he doesn't phone me up and say "Hello, Mum, are you all right?"

0:35:35 > 0:35:39OK, I'd better start with Libby as the eldest.

0:35:39 > 0:35:45An absolute bundle of fun. Has been from that small to now,

0:35:45 > 0:35:49obviously, much bigger. Smashing personality.

0:35:49 > 0:35:52Ellie is just full of beans

0:35:52 > 0:35:55and up for anything all the time.

0:35:55 > 0:35:58I can't keep up with either of them, to be honest!

0:35:58 > 0:36:03Libby's very exciting and she's like full of surprises,

0:36:03 > 0:36:07and she can be very different but she's very funny as well.

0:36:07 > 0:36:11Alfie's really into his football. Big Liverpool supporter.

0:36:11 > 0:36:14He's got his football, he's happy.

0:36:14 > 0:36:18Ellie is very funny. She makes me laugh. Um...

0:36:18 > 0:36:22She cheers me up, and I like being with her.

0:36:22 > 0:36:25Jai's bubbly, she's...um...

0:36:25 > 0:36:28very busy,

0:36:28 > 0:36:32full-time job, husband, three children, three dogs.

0:36:32 > 0:36:35Jai's one of those people, she's always there for you.

0:36:35 > 0:36:39You could phone her at midnight and she'd answer the phone

0:36:39 > 0:36:41and whatever you wanted to talk about, she'd talk to you

0:36:41 > 0:36:44for two hours if you needed her. She's brilliant.

0:36:44 > 0:36:49Murray will find it difficult leaving Cirencester. I think,

0:36:49 > 0:36:51because he's got a close family

0:36:51 > 0:36:55and he's got a lot of friends in the area. He's lived here all his life.

0:36:55 > 0:36:58I've resigned myself to the fact

0:36:58 > 0:37:00that if they want to go, it's up to them.

0:37:00 > 0:37:05We'll back them all the way. I'll still be devastated if he goes.

0:37:05 > 0:37:08I think it's a great opportunity to raise the children

0:37:08 > 0:37:10in a great environment.

0:37:10 > 0:37:13I think they just want to do what's best for the kids.

0:37:13 > 0:37:19I'd miss Alfie just ringing up when he feels like it,

0:37:19 > 0:37:22miss talking to all of them on the phone.

0:37:22 > 0:37:25There's nobody like Murray in my eyes.

0:37:25 > 0:37:29I know I've got my daughter and she knows how I feel,

0:37:29 > 0:37:32but to me, Murray is the be all and end all of my life.

0:37:32 > 0:37:35I could cope with going, thinking about them going

0:37:35 > 0:37:38for a few years, enjoying the lifestyle and then coming back,

0:37:38 > 0:37:44but going for good is quite difficult.

0:37:44 > 0:37:49Those two girls keep the smile on my face every day,

0:37:49 > 0:37:57I speak to them every day, I text them every day, and to imagine

0:37:57 > 0:38:00that I could lose that,

0:38:00 > 0:38:03it would break my heart if they went to Australia.

0:38:03 > 0:38:06Murray, I hope you make the right decision.

0:38:06 > 0:38:10Whatever decision you make, we will back you all the way.

0:38:10 > 0:38:12I know you will make the right decision for your family

0:38:12 > 0:38:14and I'll miss you loads.

0:38:14 > 0:38:18I just want you to know that we've missed you lots and lots.

0:38:18 > 0:38:23It's only a short time away but we've really missed you.

0:38:23 > 0:38:28It would be really, really hard to think about you being out there all the time.

0:38:28 > 0:38:31I just want what's best for you and what makes you all happy.

0:38:31 > 0:38:34See you soon then. Love you lots, bye.

0:38:39 > 0:38:40Are you OK?

0:38:44 > 0:38:46Are you all right? OK.

0:38:48 > 0:38:49It's hard, isn't it?

0:38:49 > 0:38:56To see what we are leaving behind and how people feel about us.

0:38:56 > 0:38:58What about you, Ellie?

0:38:58 > 0:39:01What do you think about most when you watch that?

0:39:01 > 0:39:06Dad mainly, and our friends, thinking about that.

0:39:06 > 0:39:11If I said to you, "We've decided we're not going back to England,

0:39:11 > 0:39:14"we're just going to stay here", what would your first reaction be?

0:39:14 > 0:39:18I'm going back on the plane. I've got school in a couple of days!

0:39:21 > 0:39:26What about you, Alfie? What did you think about that video?

0:39:26 > 0:39:31- I want to go back to England. - You want to go back to England?- Why?

0:39:31 > 0:39:35Who did you miss most?

0:39:35 > 0:39:38- Everyone.- Everyone?- Everyone?

0:39:38 > 0:39:40What about you?

0:39:40 > 0:39:41I was quite surprised, actually,

0:39:41 > 0:39:46because I thought I already knew everybody's views,

0:39:46 > 0:39:49so I didn't think watching the video would upset me.

0:39:49 > 0:39:54Seeing your family get upset is very difficult.

0:39:54 > 0:39:58At the moment, I'm probably avoiding thinking about the parents.

0:39:58 > 0:40:01My mum's had periods over the last year of not being so well

0:40:01 > 0:40:06so it does bother me that I would be a long, long way away from them.

0:40:06 > 0:40:09I don't know how to deal with that or think about that at the moment.

0:40:09 > 0:40:13If I decided to go, I've really got to give it a lot more thought

0:40:13 > 0:40:17on how it would affect me, and my mum and dad, really.

0:40:17 > 0:40:21Well, the Cooks have had their ups and downs this week

0:40:21 > 0:40:27and with Murray firmly on the fence, Jai's hopes rest with the children.

0:40:27 > 0:40:31But if they can't bear leaving their friends and family behind,

0:40:31 > 0:40:37her aspirations of a new life Down Under will be over.

0:40:37 > 0:40:40The move was always Jai's dream.

0:40:40 > 0:40:44I'm definitely the driving force behind this idea.

0:40:44 > 0:40:47And Australia was everything she wanted.

0:40:47 > 0:40:52There was no bad points to this house. Even though it's pink, I would move in tomorrow.

0:40:52 > 0:40:56But she knew getting the children on board would be very difficult.

0:40:56 > 0:41:01- I want to go back to England. - You want to go back to England?

0:41:01 > 0:41:03Work was always an issue for Murray,

0:41:03 > 0:41:06but in Australia, the reality of leaving loved ones finally hit home.

0:41:06 > 0:41:09It does bother me that I would be a long, long way away from them.

0:41:09 > 0:41:14For Jai, everything rests on her family's final decision.

0:41:14 > 0:41:16I think if we don't do it, I will regret it every day.

0:41:16 > 0:41:19So how will they vote?

0:41:19 > 0:41:22Has she done enough to persuade them

0:41:22 > 0:41:26or is her dream about to be shattered? It's time to find out.

0:41:26 > 0:41:29We've had some wonderful experiences, met some lovely people,

0:41:29 > 0:41:34and based on that, we are going to vote for...

0:41:34 > 0:41:36- Australia.- Don't know.

0:41:36 > 0:41:39Well, that's a mixed bag, isn't it?

0:41:39 > 0:41:42You're the only one who sticks to Australia again.

0:41:42 > 0:41:46I think it's long enough for me to realise what we we've got here.

0:41:46 > 0:41:51A little bit more time then I could probably give you a better answer, actually.

0:41:51 > 0:41:53A little bit more time and...you never know.

0:41:53 > 0:41:57After that final blow destroyed Jai's hopes of a life Down Under,

0:41:57 > 0:42:00what does the future hold for her?

0:42:00 > 0:42:04It was very disappointing. I was really hoping that this opportunity

0:42:04 > 0:42:07to come over and visit Australia would actually show them

0:42:07 > 0:42:12the benefits of living here and could actually show them

0:42:12 > 0:42:16how wonderful things could be and what sort of life we could have.

0:42:16 > 0:42:20As far as I'm concerned, there's actually no negative

0:42:20 > 0:42:23about coming here, so for the rest of the family to see

0:42:23 > 0:42:26nothing but negatives, or so it seemed to me...

0:42:26 > 0:42:29Yes, it was a little bit disheartening, to be honest.

0:42:29 > 0:42:32I would say that, no, the dream isn't over for me

0:42:32 > 0:42:36and I will probably keep bringing it up for discussion, keep trying

0:42:36 > 0:42:39to convince the family that it's the right thing for us,

0:42:39 > 0:42:41and hope that, at some point, they give in gracefully

0:42:41 > 0:42:45and we can come to Australia.

0:42:45 > 0:42:49My goodness, it's been quite a week for the Cooks.

0:42:49 > 0:42:53It seems Jai's Australian dream is over.

0:42:53 > 0:42:58But who knows, she may still be able to persuade them.

0:42:58 > 0:43:02Join us next time when we follow another British family

0:43:02 > 0:43:04who are Wanted Down Under.
