0:00:02 > 0:00:05Moving your family halfway around the world

0:00:05 > 0:00:07is one of the biggest decisions of your life.

0:00:07 > 0:00:10But if you've been dreaming of it for more than a decade,

0:00:10 > 0:00:13can the reality ever match your expectations,

0:00:13 > 0:00:17especially when you know it'll be the hardest choice you'll ever have to make?

0:00:17 > 0:00:23For more than ten years, the Edwards family have been living in limbo.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25Keep on going back and forth thinking,

0:00:25 > 0:00:27"What's the best thing to do?"

0:00:27 > 0:00:29So it really is driving us insane.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32And after a week of highs...

0:00:32 > 0:00:34There's the sea! ALL: Aw!

0:00:34 > 0:00:36..and lows...

0:00:36 > 0:00:41- Oh, my life! - ..they'll have to make the toughest decision of their lives.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45But will they choose with their heart or their heads?

0:00:45 > 0:00:48The future now is down to us.

0:00:48 > 0:00:53I want to make a decision this week so that we can get on with our life.

0:01:14 > 0:01:1823% of New Zealand's population were born overseas.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22Many people emigrate there for a more relaxed pace of life

0:01:22 > 0:01:26in this country of beautiful scenery.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28But the move isn't always right for everyone

0:01:28 > 0:01:32and many return home with their dream in tatters.

0:01:35 > 0:01:41The Edwards face some big decisions as they experience the reality of life in New Zealand.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43At the end of their week Down Under,

0:01:43 > 0:01:46they'll have to decide their future -

0:01:46 > 0:01:49whether to stay in the UK or to make the move for good.

0:01:49 > 0:01:54To make that choice, they travel over 11,000 miles,

0:01:54 > 0:01:58cross three continents and spend 23 hours in the air.

0:02:02 > 0:02:04And the long flight has given them a chance

0:02:04 > 0:02:09to think about the distance from loved ones and the week ahead.

0:02:09 > 0:02:13The decision is right in front of us now. We've done a lot of research,

0:02:13 > 0:02:16but it's now in your in face.

0:02:16 > 0:02:22"Are you going to go for it? Are you going to weigh it up and make a mature, sensible decision?"

0:02:22 > 0:02:23- It's a lot to take in.- I'm excited.

0:02:23 > 0:02:29- Oh, yes. It's still fabulous.- Yeah, this is a decision for the family.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31This week is going to be the difference.

0:02:31 > 0:02:36We're going to try and enjoy it, aren't we? Not even try, we WILL enjoy it, won't we?

0:02:36 > 0:02:38- We will enjoy it!- Yeah.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41As they set off for a week that could change their lives,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44it's a world away from their home in Dudley.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47Plumber Clive and learning support assistant Tracey

0:02:47 > 0:02:52are parents to daughters Alanis, 13, and eight-year-old Naomi.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56Clive and Tracey are born and bred in the Midlands,

0:02:56 > 0:02:59but have long thought about a change.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02All this time I've spent here, I need to go somewhere else,

0:03:02 > 0:03:06somewhere which is going to be a little bit different and exciting.

0:03:06 > 0:03:10So I'll go round the corner and think, "I haven't seen that before,"

0:03:10 > 0:03:13instead of the same old thing over and over.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15New Zealand has been on their minds for over a decade.

0:03:15 > 0:03:20The idea to emigrate started ten or more years ago on holiday with friends.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23We talked about it for hours and hours.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25They went and did it, the rotters,

0:03:25 > 0:03:29and they're in New Zealand now, and I'm very, very jealous of them.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32We thought to ourselves, "Could we actually do it,

0:03:32 > 0:03:35"and will it really make a big difference to our life if we did?"

0:03:35 > 0:03:39And in 2007, after returning from a visit to New Zealand,

0:03:39 > 0:03:42they were all set to take the plunge,

0:03:42 > 0:03:45only for terrible news to hit the family.

0:03:45 > 0:03:51Mum, out of the blue, announced that they discovered breast cancer.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55It was just, "Hang on a minute." Everything stopped.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Even though Tracey's mum is now in remission,

0:04:01 > 0:04:04the decision to move won't be any easier to make.

0:04:04 > 0:04:11If we now then say we're going to go for it, actually,

0:04:11 > 0:04:14what if she then has a relapse?

0:04:14 > 0:04:17What if... What if, what if? That kind of thing.

0:04:17 > 0:04:22'So I'm really concerned whether it's the right decision

0:04:22 > 0:04:24'for the extended family.'

0:04:24 > 0:04:26I'm getting upset now.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33But a move won't just mean leaving Tracey's mum.

0:04:33 > 0:04:38For Clive, it means saying a long goodbye to his family.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43There's 13... Yes, 13 brothers and sisters. Come family get-togethers,

0:04:43 > 0:04:46everybody comes together. We just have a good time.

0:04:46 > 0:04:51I'm going to miss them, but whatever it takes to make my family happy,

0:04:51 > 0:04:53that's what's important to me.

0:04:53 > 0:04:59But after ten years of talking about New Zealand, they're still no closer to a decision.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02When Mum and Dad start talking about moving to New Zealand,

0:05:02 > 0:05:08I usually just put the headphones in and close it all out.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11We keep going back and forth thinking,

0:05:11 > 0:05:13"What's the best thing to do?"

0:05:13 > 0:05:16I just yak, yak, yak about New Zealand all the time.

0:05:16 > 0:05:21Is it better in England or is it better in New Zealand?

0:05:21 > 0:05:23So it really is driving us insane.

0:05:23 > 0:05:27I really, really do think they should stop talking about it

0:05:27 > 0:05:30cos I just get a bit bored of the situation.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33It's like, "Oh, should we get the visas?"

0:05:33 > 0:05:35"What property shall we have?"

0:05:35 > 0:05:38- "Do you want to go to Auckland or the south?"- They moan a lot.

0:05:38 > 0:05:42We need to make the decision and we've made a pact that this is it.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44Now or never.

0:05:44 > 0:05:47Either do it or don't do it and just live life.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51Because at the moment, we're waiting to live life.

0:05:51 > 0:05:55The Edwards are caught between two different worlds.

0:05:55 > 0:06:00They know just how painful emigrating will be for them and the people they love.

0:06:00 > 0:06:02But for the past ten years,

0:06:02 > 0:06:06they've been wondering if the grass really could be greener Down Under.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08It's time they found out.

0:06:08 > 0:06:13The Edwards want to see if New Zealand's largest city, Auckland,

0:06:13 > 0:06:16could be the ideal location for a new start.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20The city environment should offer good work opportunities for Clive

0:06:20 > 0:06:23and plenty of activities for Alanis and Naomi.

0:06:23 > 0:06:29But the benefits don't come cheap, with Auckland's property prices the highest in the country.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32For the next week, home is the historic suburb of Devonport,

0:06:32 > 0:06:35just across the bay from the city.

0:06:35 > 0:06:39They'll be staying in a two-bedroom apartment,

0:06:39 > 0:06:42close to shops and restaurants and minutes from the beach.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45It should be an ideal location for the week ahead.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47- Oh, this is nice.- What do you think?

0:06:47 > 0:06:50Oh, it's nicer than I expected it to be.

0:06:50 > 0:06:55For such a quaint old house, you didn't expect it to be so modern.

0:06:55 > 0:06:57The kids look to have settled in,

0:06:57 > 0:07:00but for Tracey and Clive, thoughts turn to the week ahead

0:07:00 > 0:07:02and the big decision they have to make.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05To be honest, I don't know if I really want to like it,

0:07:05 > 0:07:09because if I...if I like it,

0:07:09 > 0:07:12then we're going to have to come.

0:07:12 > 0:07:15If I don't like it, then the decision's made for us.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18It might be perfectly all right, within our reach,

0:07:18 > 0:07:21and then I chicken out and think,

0:07:21 > 0:07:27"I can't leave everybody," or think "It's just too nerve-wracking,"

0:07:27 > 0:07:30cos I have a tendency to do that as well.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33I want to make the decision this week

0:07:33 > 0:07:36so that we can get on with our life.

0:07:40 > 0:07:46Back in the UK, the Edwards have just sold their three-bedroom, shared ownership house in Dudley.

0:07:46 > 0:07:51They've raised £35,000 towards a deposit on a potential house in New Zealand,

0:07:51 > 0:07:57and they've worked out they could afford a budget of around £180,000.

0:07:57 > 0:08:02But for that price, there are a few must-have items on their wish list.

0:08:02 > 0:08:08In the home we're in now, we are so squashed.

0:08:08 > 0:08:10We can't do what we want to do.

0:08:10 > 0:08:14We could do with two bathrooms. I've got three girls.

0:08:14 > 0:08:17They take ages to get ready, so I'm just there waiting, waiting.

0:08:17 > 0:08:22I'm hoping that we can afford something that has slightly bigger rooms.

0:08:22 > 0:08:27Slightly? What am I saying? It's got to be huge!

0:08:27 > 0:08:31To give the family a taste of Auckland's property market,

0:08:31 > 0:08:34we've arranged for them to see some local houses up for sale.

0:08:34 > 0:08:40We'll show them three choices based upon what they want from their ideal home,

0:08:40 > 0:08:44what they can afford, and the real cost of property Down Under.

0:08:44 > 0:08:49After seeing for themselves what's on offer, we'll reveal the price of each house.

0:08:49 > 0:08:54Their search begins in Albany, on the north edge of the city.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57It's Auckland's fastest-growing suburb

0:08:57 > 0:09:01and popular with families, due to its proximity to the beaches.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04This two-bedroom modern house is on a small development

0:09:04 > 0:09:07and offers the Edwards a low-maintenance home,

0:09:07 > 0:09:09close to schools, shops and parks.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12But what will they make of it?

0:09:12 > 0:09:16- Mmm...- Uh-oh.- A bit council-y. - Don't like it.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20Been there, done that, lived in high-rises when we were first married.

0:09:20 > 0:09:25Not a great start. Let's hope the interiors go down better.

0:09:26 > 0:09:30OK... Ew. No.

0:09:30 > 0:09:35- No?- No.- Oh, dear.- No, no, no.

0:09:35 > 0:09:39- This is a holiday home. - That's exactly what it is.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42Nice view, but this would be classed as your garden.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45It's not very promising.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47The outside hasn't impressed,

0:09:47 > 0:09:51so it's upstairs to check out the bedrooms.

0:09:51 > 0:09:56It's got an en-suite. That potty in the corner.

0:09:56 > 0:09:57- No.- Nah.- Nah.

0:09:57 > 0:10:02- If this is all we can afford... - No way.- Not interested.

0:10:02 > 0:10:06- Not interested at all.- Let's just shut the cupboard door and walk away.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08And with just one other bedroom,

0:10:08 > 0:10:11the house is falling short of their needs.

0:10:11 > 0:10:15- Oh, my goodness.- Can you imagine it?

0:10:15 > 0:10:18They'd just be absolutely at each other's throats.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21Where's the main bathroom?

0:10:21 > 0:10:23Oh. What's that?

0:10:23 > 0:10:27So it's both en-suite. This is exactly the same as the other one.

0:10:27 > 0:10:32- Should we find out how much it is? - Yeah.- Not that it matters.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34Doesn't matter what it is, I don't want it.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37- They'd have to pay us. - They'd definitely have to pay me.

0:10:37 > 0:10:42This is such a good room.

0:10:42 > 0:10:47- Mum and Dad really don't like it. - He kept going, "No, no, no, no, no, no. I don't like it."

0:10:47 > 0:10:51So the first house hasn't impressed.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54But what's the verdict on the price?

0:10:54 > 0:10:58Will their £180,000 budget be enough to afford a house they don't like?

0:10:58 > 0:11:02- What do you think?- What's the matter? Aw!- Is it so traumatic?

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Let's see how much the price is.

0:11:05 > 0:11:09We think it's going to be about £80,000.

0:11:09 > 0:11:14- Er... £80,000?- You've probably got no idea how much it is!

0:11:14 > 0:11:19- It doesn't matter how much it is. - I know. Hopefully it's how much they're going to pay us.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24- Whoa.- Oh, my life!

0:11:24 > 0:11:27- 160, you're joking.- £160,000?!

0:11:27 > 0:11:34- You'd get a huge house for that! - We could get a lovely house with a lovely garden back in England.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37If this is all we can get...

0:11:37 > 0:11:39- I wouldn't be interested. - It's not worth it.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42Cos we'd have to sit in the home and feel,

0:11:42 > 0:11:47"Oh, this is lovely. This is just what we're looking for,"

0:11:47 > 0:11:52- to help you cope with all the emotional side of leaving everybody.- Mmm.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55If you came here, you'd think

0:11:55 > 0:12:00you'd lost everything and took a step back.

0:12:01 > 0:12:05Shocked by the size and price of the first house,

0:12:05 > 0:12:09the Edwards' dream of moving to New Zealand has taken a step backwards.

0:12:09 > 0:12:12Could the next house offer them more of what they want?

0:12:13 > 0:12:18The second property is in the sought-after area of Forrest Hill.

0:12:18 > 0:12:20With good schools and close to the city,

0:12:20 > 0:12:23it's popular with families.

0:12:23 > 0:12:29This four-bedroom weatherboard house comes with plenty of potential, which should appeal to Clive.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32- Hallelujah!- Thank goodness for that! THEY LAUGH

0:12:32 > 0:12:34- ALANIS:- I was so scared!

0:12:34 > 0:12:36I was frightened to look.

0:12:38 > 0:12:43- Not bad, not bad. Nice, light room. - It's a relief.

0:12:43 > 0:12:48It's an absolute relief compared to that not-so-nice house before.

0:12:48 > 0:12:53- This looks like it needs work. - Yeah, but that's not a problem.

0:12:53 > 0:12:55It's just cosmetic.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- It's just cosmetic, really. - You hope.

0:12:58 > 0:13:02After the last house, it's a far better start.

0:13:02 > 0:13:06There might be just a little bit of work in here.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08'60s or '70s, this must have been done.

0:13:08 > 0:13:13Let's see what it actually... Not much pressure.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15But that's not a problem.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18- That's something I... Oh! That's old!- OK!

0:13:18 > 0:13:21A bit of New Zealand plumbing hasn't put Clive off,

0:13:21 > 0:13:26but Tracey may need more convincing that it's worth giving up the UK for.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30With four decent-sized bedrooms, there should be enough space for everyone.

0:13:30 > 0:13:33That's quite nice. Nice size.

0:13:33 > 0:13:37- I feel more positive about this house than the last one.- The size is good. - The size is all right.

0:13:37 > 0:13:41The children away in the other room. Can't hear them.

0:13:41 > 0:13:44Are they OK?

0:13:44 > 0:13:48- They might have been electrocuted. - Yes!- Maybe we should check!- Yeah.

0:13:48 > 0:13:53With just the garden left to inspect, can it convince Tracey this is the house for them?

0:13:53 > 0:13:57The whole point of us coming was for the big, open space, so...

0:13:57 > 0:14:01If that space was at the back, then you're getting there,

0:14:01 > 0:14:05because I've got to feel that I can come out and go,

0:14:05 > 0:14:08"Ooh! This is lovely."

0:14:08 > 0:14:12With a small outdoors and plenty of work needed indoors,

0:14:12 > 0:14:16it looks like this property is another big no for the Edwards.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19But if it's double the size of the first house,

0:14:19 > 0:14:21will their budget cover the cost?

0:14:24 > 0:14:29- This is going to be a lot.- I would say...- 190, 200...- 180, I'd say.

0:14:29 > 0:14:33- Let's have a look. - Let's have a look. 180.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38- Oh, 203.- See, I was right!

0:14:38 > 0:14:42£203,000, approximately.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45- It's the area. It's very nice. - A lot of potential,

0:14:45 > 0:14:49but it might be too much out of our price range

0:14:49 > 0:14:52when you actually put in the amount

0:14:52 > 0:14:57to actually do the property up to the standard it needs to be.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00The second house didn't win the Edwards over

0:15:00 > 0:15:04and it's price confirmed Clive's money worries.

0:15:04 > 0:15:08Getting more from their budget means moving further out of the city.

0:15:08 > 0:15:11The district of Browns Bay is a popular area,

0:15:11 > 0:15:12with beaches and shops close by.

0:15:12 > 0:15:18This four-bedroom weatherboard house should offer plenty of space and a bigger garden.

0:15:18 > 0:15:22Estate agent Carolynn Le Mac is there to meet them.

0:15:22 > 0:15:26We've got a home here that I think fits most of your requirements, if not all of them.

0:15:26 > 0:15:29Have a wander. We'll meet-up at the end and see what you think.

0:15:29 > 0:15:35- OK, thank you.- Fantastic. Let's have a look.- Looks nice.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37- Aw...- That is lovely.

0:15:37 > 0:15:41- Oh, my life.- That is very nice. Have you wiped your feet?

0:15:41 > 0:15:46- What an entrance.- Excellent. Where do we start? Let's go in here! - ALL LAUGH

0:15:46 > 0:15:52- Oh.- Look at that.- I love it, I love it.- Oh, sweet.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55- Oh, my days. - Look at the garden, Mum.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58- Is that an orange tree? - Yeah, looks like it.

0:15:58 > 0:16:01- Oh, let me in it!- Can you imagine?

0:16:01 > 0:16:05Is that the sea? That's the sea! ALL: Aw!

0:16:05 > 0:16:11The kitchen... It's a galley kitchen. It's still quite small but it's got everything you need.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13WATER SPRAYS

0:16:13 > 0:16:15CHILDREN LAUGH That works!

0:16:15 > 0:16:20Water pressure's OK, then! A little bit severe.

0:16:20 > 0:16:25And there's something else that should keep Clive happy - three bathrooms for the girls.

0:16:25 > 0:16:30And for artist Tracey, one of the bedrooms is made to order.

0:16:30 > 0:16:35Oh, you know what this is. This is my art studio.

0:16:35 > 0:16:40Imagine sitting there and, again, you got that beautiful view.

0:16:40 > 0:16:44- This is exactly the kind of garden I was thinking of.- Yeah.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47- Jungle... Exotic-looking.- Yeah.

0:16:47 > 0:16:48- Smothering the house.- Yeah.

0:16:48 > 0:16:53- Hard to maintain.- Yeah!

0:16:53 > 0:16:57- There's a gate here. Hang on. - Is that more? More garden?

0:16:57 > 0:17:01- I don't know.- Hold on.

0:17:01 > 0:17:04Is this a separate room?

0:17:05 > 0:17:08- Oh! Oh, oh, oh!- I haven't seen this.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11- It's like a granny flat, isn't it? - A granny flat!

0:17:11 > 0:17:15- Is it an annexe, you call it? - Annexe, yeah. OK, that's good.

0:17:15 > 0:17:19So it looks like there's a whole separate flat with the house.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Maybe Carolynn can shed some light on it?

0:17:22 > 0:17:26What's with that...? Is it an annexe, or is it...?

0:17:26 > 0:17:28That's what we term a granny flat,

0:17:28 > 0:17:31so it gives an extra income for most New Zealanders.

0:17:31 > 0:17:36One option, if you want the full site, the garden,

0:17:36 > 0:17:38the bigger home closer to the sea,

0:17:38 > 0:17:41obviously that's going to cost more money,

0:17:41 > 0:17:43so one way of doing that is having a home

0:17:43 > 0:17:46that perhaps can bring in a bit of extra income.

0:17:46 > 0:17:50This house seems to have everything the Edwards are looking for,

0:17:50 > 0:17:52but can they afford it?

0:17:52 > 0:17:54A lot rests on the turn of this card.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56So what do you think of the house?

0:17:56 > 0:18:01I think it's a lovely house, but we're going to have to pay a lot.

0:18:01 > 0:18:06- You think?- It's going to be megabucks.- You think?

0:18:06 > 0:18:07Do you like it, Nay?

0:18:07 > 0:18:11- I've got one word to sum all this up.- What is it?

0:18:11 > 0:18:14- Wow.- Is it?- Yeah.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16I think you just don't get your hopes up,

0:18:16 > 0:18:20because I think it's going to be way out of our league.

0:18:20 > 0:18:24- Go on, shall we have a look? - Yeah, go on then. OK, Mum.

0:18:24 > 0:18:25Can't look!

0:18:27 > 0:18:28Oh, right.

0:18:28 > 0:18:31£278,000,

0:18:31 > 0:18:35or, with the income, £190,000.

0:18:35 > 0:18:40- So, 278 just as it is, everything... - Which we can't afford.

0:18:40 > 0:18:41..with the granny flat.

0:18:41 > 0:18:46- Or if we rent out the flat, it's 190,000.- 190.

0:18:48 > 0:18:49That's pretty good.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52For what you're getting and where you are.

0:18:52 > 0:18:57- Yeah, I think that is very good. - Yeah, it's brilliant.

0:18:57 > 0:19:01So the dream house could be possible for the Edwards

0:19:01 > 0:19:03if they're prepared to subsidise the mortgage.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06They've seen three very different properties.

0:19:06 > 0:19:10The first was bang on budget but fell well short

0:19:10 > 0:19:14of Tracey and Clive's expectations of living Down Under.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17The second offered size and potential,

0:19:17 > 0:19:21but it came with a small garden and a big price tag.

0:19:21 > 0:19:25Finally, house number three offered the Edwards the space

0:19:25 > 0:19:28and location they wanted, and a possible way to afford it.

0:19:28 > 0:19:32So after a day of house-hunting, have they seen enough

0:19:32 > 0:19:35to justify moving to the other side of the world?

0:19:35 > 0:19:41Based on the properties we've seen today, we are going to vote for...

0:19:51 > 0:19:53ALL: New Zealand!

0:19:55 > 0:20:00- Is it New Zealand or is it English?- Which one?

0:20:00 > 0:20:03Which one are you going to go for?

0:20:03 > 0:20:05Don't do what we do if you don't want to.

0:20:05 > 0:20:07- Which one do you want? - Are you undecided?- No...

0:20:07 > 0:20:09Do you want to go in the middle like that?

0:20:09 > 0:20:12- Which one do you want? - I have no idea.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17I was expecting Naomi to be unsure.

0:20:17 > 0:20:22Right from day one she's always said, "What about the family?"

0:20:22 > 0:20:27And it would break her heart, I think, if it came to leaving.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30She would be very upset, I think.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40Auckland's property prices have come as a real shock to the Edwards,

0:20:40 > 0:20:44but there's still a chance they can afford their dream home,

0:20:44 > 0:20:49so it's vital Clive and Tracey find work that pays enough to keep the move alive.

0:20:49 > 0:20:53Back in Dudley, Clive works as a plumber for a housing trust,

0:20:53 > 0:20:56earning around £23,000 a year.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59As he's on a modest income,

0:20:59 > 0:21:03the family can't afford to take risks on employment in New Zealand.

0:21:03 > 0:21:05To get a feel for work Down Under,

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Clive is spending the morning with a local firm.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10There's a lot riding on it,

0:21:10 > 0:21:14and he needs to be sure New Zealand can offer the right opportunities.

0:21:14 > 0:21:16It's all about the job,

0:21:16 > 0:21:21because if I haven't got a decent job, can't afford the house.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24So what I want to find out today is just how they work in New Zealand,

0:21:24 > 0:21:28whether they live to work or they work to live.

0:21:28 > 0:21:33Clive's arranged to meet manager Shawn Cain who may be able to offer him some advice.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37Tell us a little bit about what you've been doing and your qualifications.

0:21:37 > 0:21:41Level three electrician, also level three plumbing as well.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44OK, from our point of view having somebody who's got both traits

0:21:44 > 0:21:48and be registered in that would be a big bonus.

0:21:48 > 0:21:52That's good news, but is there work to go with it?

0:21:52 > 0:21:57In the last three or four months it has definitely got busier, things are feeling better out there,

0:21:57 > 0:22:02but, with the likes of Christchurch's earthquake, there's a lot of work coming up.

0:22:02 > 0:22:06In the next two to three years, we're going to need 3,000 electricians.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09With so much rebuilding going on in New Zealand,

0:22:09 > 0:22:13there looks to be plenty of work - but will his skills transfer?

0:22:13 > 0:22:16So, to be able to work in New Zealand, what would I have to do?

0:22:16 > 0:22:20- What sort of qualifications...? - To bring your qualifications to New Zealand?- Yeah.

0:22:20 > 0:22:25You do a written examination, and a practical examination as well.

0:22:25 > 0:22:29It's all very well, but Clive's only got one thing on his mind.

0:22:29 > 0:22:31That is exactly what I needed to know,

0:22:31 > 0:22:34but what I really want to do now, I just want to do a bit of plumbing.

0:22:34 > 0:22:36Any opportunities to do that?

0:22:36 > 0:22:41Sure, what we could do is go and see one of the guys on a job site.

0:22:41 > 0:22:44It's a bigger job site and you'll be able to see the fittings we use,

0:22:44 > 0:22:46the plumbing, all that sort of setup.

0:22:46 > 0:22:50As Clive heads to the site, Tracey's also out and about.

0:22:50 > 0:22:55It's vital she too finds work to help afford the lifestyle they long for.

0:22:55 > 0:22:59At home, she's a support worker assisting deaf students at her local college.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02To help support the family income in New Zealand,

0:23:02 > 0:23:05she'd like to continue her work as a communicator.

0:23:05 > 0:23:10To find out if that's possible, she's meeting up with Gail Harris,

0:23:10 > 0:23:12a teacher at a local college.

0:23:12 > 0:23:18Is there much demand around the island for support workers for the deaf?

0:23:18 > 0:23:22In New Zealand, most of the people who work

0:23:22 > 0:23:28in deaf education - communicating - are generally trained interpreters.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31We do have some communicators in some areas

0:23:31 > 0:23:33when we can't get an interpreter.

0:23:33 > 0:23:39So the interpreter's course - is it full-time, and how many years is it?

0:23:39 > 0:23:40Currently it's two years.

0:23:40 > 0:23:44And there are course fees, at least about 4,000, something like that.

0:23:44 > 0:23:47Yeah, expensive. It's like that back home.

0:23:47 > 0:23:50It's not the news she was hoping for.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52Taking a two-year course would been paying fees

0:23:52 > 0:23:55and dealing with the drop in income.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58While Tracey finds out more,

0:23:58 > 0:24:03Clive is talking his language down on site plumbing.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06- It seems to be quite similar. - Yeah, I imagine it would be.

0:24:06 > 0:24:10Yeah. In the end, sealing water's the same, it's just different ways of doing it.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14It's been fantastic, thanks a lot for all your help. I really appreciate it.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18- Hopefully I'll be working with you in the future.- Yeah, you might be.

0:24:18 > 0:24:21- Excellent. Take care then, see you. - Bye.

0:24:21 > 0:24:22Happy with his prospects,

0:24:22 > 0:24:27Clive's keen to flush out a couple more important answers from Shawn.

0:24:27 > 0:24:32Just to give me an idea, what sort of hours would I be doing,

0:24:32 > 0:24:34what sort of pay might I get?

0:24:34 > 0:24:36The average hours for our guys is between

0:24:36 > 0:24:38sort of 30 and 45 hours on average a week.

0:24:38 > 0:24:43Pay-wise, the average salary is around 60,000 New Zealand dollars a year,

0:24:43 > 0:24:46plus any on-call call-outs and stuff on top of that.

0:24:46 > 0:24:52So that's going to be about £30,000 on the current...

0:24:52 > 0:24:56- OK.- Yeah, that's not too bad. That's good, that's good.

0:24:56 > 0:25:02Working full-time, Clive could earn £7,000 a year more than at home.

0:25:02 > 0:25:05But Tracey's extra income is crucial

0:25:05 > 0:25:09and could make all the difference between the UK and life in New Zealand.

0:25:09 > 0:25:13So what would be the average wage if I was a fully-qualified interpreter?

0:25:13 > 0:25:18It would be around 37,000 plus, as a starting rate.

0:25:18 > 0:25:21- New Zealand dollars? - New Zealand dollars, yes.

0:25:21 > 0:25:25So with the exchange rate, it's about 18,000, 19,000 a year.

0:25:25 > 0:25:28Well, that makes sense for an interpreter.

0:25:28 > 0:25:31So if Tracey was to retrain and work full time,

0:25:31 > 0:25:34she could earn more than she does at home,

0:25:34 > 0:25:36but at a cost of time with the family.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39Does she think it's worth it?

0:25:39 > 0:25:41If I had to train as an interpreter here,

0:25:41 > 0:25:44if I had no choice, to get employment,

0:25:44 > 0:25:46then I'm not so sure that I would go for that

0:25:46 > 0:25:49because of being taken away from the family.

0:25:49 > 0:25:54It's a big decision. Retraining wasn't in the New Zealand plan

0:25:54 > 0:25:56and would set the Edwards back financially.

0:25:56 > 0:25:59But will it affect their final vote?

0:25:59 > 0:26:04Based on my job prospects in New Zealand...

0:26:04 > 0:26:06I'm going to vote for...

0:26:12 > 0:26:14New Zealand.

0:26:19 > 0:26:21UK.

0:26:21 > 0:26:28I've stuck with my UK job because I love it. I absolutely love it.

0:26:28 > 0:26:29I love the guys I work with.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32I don't know if I'm willing to give it up

0:26:32 > 0:26:35cos I've only just sort of really settled in to that.

0:26:35 > 0:26:38I voted for New Zealand because it...

0:26:38 > 0:26:41Basically, they're going to pay me more than in England.

0:26:41 > 0:26:45So, in the end, our quality of life is going to be better,

0:26:45 > 0:26:47so, as regards the job aspect of things,

0:26:47 > 0:26:50I think New Zealand's going to be the best thing for our family.

0:26:50 > 0:26:54New Zealand seems to be offering good work prospects.

0:26:54 > 0:26:57But with some strings attached, it's left Tracey and Clive

0:26:57 > 0:27:00pulling in different directions.

0:27:00 > 0:27:05After a long day, they meet up to chat things through.

0:27:05 > 0:27:10How do you feel about what you've seen and what you know about it all?

0:27:10 > 0:27:12I like the job,

0:27:12 > 0:27:17but because I haven't got a firm job offer,

0:27:17 > 0:27:20I would basically have to chance it.

0:27:20 > 0:27:25That's too... That's nerve-wracking, though, isn't it?

0:27:25 > 0:27:29But, then, if we want to live here, there's no other option.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32You know what, though? It doesn't even matter what we want.

0:27:32 > 0:27:34If the figures don't add up,

0:27:34 > 0:27:40- if it is really tight and not much difference...- Yeah. Yeah.

0:27:40 > 0:27:43..it doesn't matter if you WANT to live here,

0:27:43 > 0:27:46- it's not sensible to live here. - Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

0:27:50 > 0:27:54With plenty of question marks on their work prospects,

0:27:54 > 0:27:57the Edwards' final decision is looking hard to make.

0:27:57 > 0:28:00If this move is going to come off,

0:28:00 > 0:28:03both Tracey and Clive need to find out once and for all

0:28:03 > 0:28:05if they can afford it.

0:28:05 > 0:28:08We've prepared a breakdown of the family's everyday expenses.

0:28:08 > 0:28:11Based on their calculations,

0:28:11 > 0:28:14they'll find out if they can afford to live in New Zealand.

0:28:14 > 0:28:17So if Tracey chose not to retrain as an interpreter,

0:28:17 > 0:28:18would they be worse off?

0:28:18 > 0:28:24Right, combined totals. Right, UK - £27,250.

0:28:24 > 0:28:27New Zealand - 33,800.

0:28:27 > 0:28:31So our first tick for New Zealand.

0:28:31 > 0:28:36So let's do the houses, then. Monthly repayment.

0:28:36 > 0:28:42£752 per month.

0:28:42 > 0:28:44Which is all right. That sounds OK to me

0:28:44 > 0:28:50because that's what we're expecting to pay for a new home in the UK.

0:28:50 > 0:28:55With no difference between mortgage payments at home and in New Zealand,

0:28:55 > 0:28:58life Down Under is looking affordable.

0:28:58 > 0:29:00But what about the everyday costs?

0:29:00 > 0:29:02Groceries - £500 a month.

0:29:02 > 0:29:06£639 in New Zealand.

0:29:06 > 0:29:09But maybe what we'd have to look at is

0:29:09 > 0:29:14if we'd get a little bit of land as well, just growing some food of our own.

0:29:14 > 0:29:16You're crackers, you!

0:29:16 > 0:29:19We're going to have to! Have you seen the prices?

0:29:19 > 0:29:21So what's the bottom line?

0:29:21 > 0:29:24Will the Edwards be better or worse off in New Zealand?

0:29:24 > 0:29:27Well, how much better off, on a monthly basis,

0:29:27 > 0:29:31are we going to be in New Zealand to the UK?

0:29:31 > 0:29:37- £209 better off.- Roughly.

0:29:37 > 0:29:43We will end up living very similar to what we do at home,

0:29:43 > 0:29:47but your advantage is it's not the West Midlands.

0:29:47 > 0:29:49It is by the sea.

0:29:49 > 0:29:53And it's lifestyle.

0:29:53 > 0:29:56I thought we'd sit here and it'd be, "Are you joking?

0:29:56 > 0:30:00"You, Edwards family, you ain't got a chance!"

0:30:00 > 0:30:04But that's really pretty cool, isn't it? That we can stretch to it.

0:30:04 > 0:30:07As long as we can find the jobs.

0:30:07 > 0:30:10It's all about the jobs, I think. It really does show, though,

0:30:10 > 0:30:12that it is doable.

0:30:12 > 0:30:17As long as we can get all these necessary things in place,

0:30:17 > 0:30:20we could be living in New Zealand.

0:30:20 > 0:30:21Yay!

0:30:21 > 0:30:23The figures look good,

0:30:23 > 0:30:26but a lot hangs on Tracey and Clive earning the right salaries.

0:30:26 > 0:30:30So will they trust the numbers and vote for New Zealand?

0:30:30 > 0:30:34Based on the costs of living, between New Zealand and the UK,

0:30:34 > 0:30:36we choose...

0:30:43 > 0:30:45BOTH: New Zealand.

0:30:45 > 0:30:48I knew you'd choose New Zealand again.

0:30:48 > 0:30:51- Well, it just looks right on paper, doesn't it?- Yeah.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54Because the cost of living isn't astronomical,

0:30:54 > 0:30:59it's still within our reach, so that's really encouraging,

0:30:59 > 0:31:02because there was a danger that it would be just...

0:31:02 > 0:31:06the decision's made for you with the figures.

0:31:06 > 0:31:09But it's not made for us, the decision is still ours.

0:31:09 > 0:31:12True. What she said.

0:31:15 > 0:31:18Working out they can afford the life they want

0:31:18 > 0:31:22has helped Clive and Tracey take a big step towards emigrating.

0:31:22 > 0:31:25But what's always been at the heart of their dream

0:31:25 > 0:31:28is finding a lifestyle the family can enjoy together.

0:31:28 > 0:31:32And with Alanis and Naomi still unconvinced about New Zealand,

0:31:32 > 0:31:34there's a great deal at stake.

0:31:34 > 0:31:38So to give them a taste of what Auckland has to offer,

0:31:38 > 0:31:42they're spending the morning down at Mission Bay.

0:31:42 > 0:31:44With plenty of cycling paths,

0:31:44 > 0:31:47getting around on two wheels is a perfect way to see the sights,

0:31:47 > 0:31:51even if the bikes aren't quite what they're used to in Dudley.

0:31:51 > 0:31:53Where's the breaks, man?

0:31:55 > 0:31:58Hang on. Break!

0:31:58 > 0:32:01BELLS RING

0:32:01 > 0:32:03- Oh, yeah. Brilliant!- Faster.

0:32:03 > 0:32:06Nice and quick. Excellent.

0:32:17 > 0:32:18Excellent.

0:32:18 > 0:32:21But the ride isn't just for fun.

0:32:21 > 0:32:24It's also the best way of getting to their next activity

0:32:24 > 0:32:27and this one has even more wheels!

0:32:27 > 0:32:30I tell you what, it'll tone up your legs,

0:32:30 > 0:32:32cos they're killing already.

0:32:32 > 0:32:37Oh, my goodness. I don't know how you stop!

0:32:37 > 0:32:39It's a new sport for the whole family

0:32:39 > 0:32:42but the kids look like they've got it mastered.

0:32:42 > 0:32:45Oh, my life! It's nothing like ice-skating, is it?

0:32:45 > 0:32:50- Yes, it is. Just do the same thing. - Oh, my days.

0:32:50 > 0:32:55- How long did you actually put your rollerblades on for? - Like, five minutes.

0:32:55 > 0:32:58- Why don't you put them back on? - No, thank you.

0:32:58 > 0:33:04- They hurting your legs? Oh, man. Oh, man.- Oh, my days. - I'm young, I'm young!

0:33:07 > 0:33:09Now, you see, I've been here half an hour

0:33:09 > 0:33:12and I'm skating like a champion.

0:33:13 > 0:33:15This is what it's all about.

0:33:15 > 0:33:19Just life and them being able to just be children. Just enjoy...

0:33:19 > 0:33:21enjoy playing.

0:33:21 > 0:33:28Instead of, you know, having them in the house playing game consoles.

0:33:28 > 0:33:31The problem is is that you have to have the opportunity

0:33:31 > 0:33:34and you have the opportunity by having,

0:33:34 > 0:33:36you know, the right places to go.

0:33:36 > 0:33:39So if the beach is just down the road,

0:33:39 > 0:33:41the kids will have the opportunity to get there.

0:33:41 > 0:33:46- It's nice having a choice, isn't it? - Yeah.- We don't have the choice. - That's what it's all about.

0:33:48 > 0:33:51Seeing Alanis and Naomi happy has brought home just why

0:33:51 > 0:33:55Clive and Tracey want to make the move.

0:33:55 > 0:33:57Are they any closer to making a decision?

0:33:57 > 0:34:01So how would you feel if we were still talking about it in ten years time from now?

0:34:01 > 0:34:04We'd be talking on Skype because I'd be here.

0:34:04 > 0:34:06THEY LAUGH

0:34:06 > 0:34:09Or should you say, WE'LL be here.

0:34:09 > 0:34:11Oh, you're going as well? Deserting us?

0:34:11 > 0:34:16So after a taste of what life in New Zealand can offer,

0:34:16 > 0:34:19has it done enough to win their votes?

0:34:19 > 0:34:23Based on the lifestyle, we're going to vote for...

0:34:32 > 0:34:34ALL: New Zealand.

0:34:35 > 0:34:38I knew you'd choose New Zealand!

0:34:38 > 0:34:42- It's a sign!- It's a sign. - It's a sign.

0:34:42 > 0:34:44- Brilliant.- Good decision. - Excellent. Good decision.

0:34:44 > 0:34:47THEY LAUGH

0:34:47 > 0:34:49After years of indecision,

0:34:49 > 0:34:52it looks as if the Edwards are one step closer

0:34:52 > 0:34:55to making the biggest choice of their lives.

0:34:55 > 0:34:59What we've experienced today, what I've seen, I know it suits us.

0:34:59 > 0:35:02I know it suits us. I know we could fit in.

0:35:02 > 0:35:05But it's whether finances allow

0:35:05 > 0:35:07and your emotions allow,

0:35:07 > 0:35:10so we've got some more thinking to do, I think.

0:35:10 > 0:35:13Do I really want to stay here?

0:35:13 > 0:35:16I think I could see myself happy here.

0:35:16 > 0:35:22I think there's adventures to be had over here.

0:35:22 > 0:35:26I think Mum and Dad are very confused. One day, they're going,

0:35:26 > 0:35:30"Oh, yeah, I'd love to live here. It'd be so nice."

0:35:30 > 0:35:34And then the next they're going, "I don't want to."

0:35:34 > 0:35:37Sometimes we just said, "Oh, stop talking and talking.

0:35:37 > 0:35:41"Let's just move!" Sometimes we go like that.

0:35:44 > 0:35:48Alanis and Naomi enjoying the Kiwi lifestyle

0:35:48 > 0:35:51is exactly what Clive and Tracey wanted.

0:35:51 > 0:35:53And yet, after their ideal day,

0:35:53 > 0:35:56they're still torn between home and New Zealand.

0:35:56 > 0:35:59Could seeing messages from back home

0:35:59 > 0:36:01finally help them make up their minds?

0:36:01 > 0:36:04Right. So this is it now.

0:36:04 > 0:36:08We're going to see all the messages from the family.

0:36:08 > 0:36:10We'll get the girls in.

0:36:10 > 0:36:12Yeah, I think it's a good thing for them to actually see it

0:36:12 > 0:36:16cos they're going to know, then, what they're going to be missing.

0:36:16 > 0:36:22Kids? We're going to have a look at the video and the messages.

0:36:22 > 0:36:25- You ready for it?- Mmm-hmm.

0:36:25 > 0:36:26Play.

0:36:28 > 0:36:31Hey, guys. Clive, Trace, girls.

0:36:31 > 0:36:32Hello, Clive and Tracey.

0:36:32 > 0:36:38Hiya, Tracey, Clive, Naomi and Alanis.

0:36:38 > 0:36:41Tracey means a lot to me. She's been there for me through

0:36:41 > 0:36:43some pretty rough times.

0:36:43 > 0:36:46She looks after me, not that I need looking after,

0:36:46 > 0:36:48but she does.

0:36:48 > 0:36:51If they move to New Zealand, I will be devastated.

0:36:51 > 0:36:54There's no other way to put it.

0:36:54 > 0:36:59I can't imagine what life will be like with them not here.

0:37:01 > 0:37:06You know, as a parent, it's a long way for them to go.

0:37:06 > 0:37:10You know, I'm not so happy about it, to tell the truth.

0:37:10 > 0:37:13My dad died when I was younger, so my Uncle Clive

0:37:13 > 0:37:15has really took the place of my dad for us

0:37:15 > 0:37:17because he's a lot like my dad.

0:37:17 > 0:37:20When I think about them going,

0:37:20 > 0:37:23I think about all my memories, when I was younger,

0:37:23 > 0:37:26and he's always been there. It's a shame cos my children will miss out.

0:37:26 > 0:37:31We want them to be happy and if this makes them happy,

0:37:31 > 0:37:33then I'll be happy for her.

0:37:33 > 0:37:36Really think about this seriously.

0:37:36 > 0:37:39I know it's something you've wanted to do for such a long time,

0:37:39 > 0:37:42but we will seriously, seriously all miss you.

0:37:42 > 0:37:46We love you all so much, so we'll see you when we get back.

0:37:46 > 0:37:49We really care about you, we're missing you now,

0:37:49 > 0:37:53but if it works out, don't think about us, think about yourselves.

0:37:53 > 0:37:56You're very important to us and we want to see you happy,

0:37:56 > 0:38:00so, please, please, get it right, have a good look around,

0:38:00 > 0:38:04check it all out and we'll see you soon, I'm sure.

0:38:04 > 0:38:09Now, if you decide to stay permanently...

0:38:10 > 0:38:14..you just know I love you to bits, all of you

0:38:14 > 0:38:18and I'll miss you terrible. If it's the right thing to do,

0:38:18 > 0:38:21you've got to be 100% on it,

0:38:21 > 0:38:23but go for it.

0:38:23 > 0:38:27I hope you're having a nice time. I didn't want you to go.

0:38:27 > 0:38:31I really missed you, really, but I haven't got no choice.

0:38:31 > 0:38:34Anyway, I might come and visit you sometime.

0:38:34 > 0:38:36Bye for now, anyway.

0:38:38 > 0:38:39That was nice.

0:38:39 > 0:38:41No, it wasn't!

0:38:41 > 0:38:43THEY LAUGH

0:38:45 > 0:38:46Oh, right.

0:38:46 > 0:38:52- Do you think you want to go? - You'll miss Nanny?- Don't know.

0:38:53 > 0:38:57You want to go home or do you want to stay here?

0:38:58 > 0:39:01It's hard, isn't it? It's made you confused, yeah?

0:39:01 > 0:39:04You've got your life,

0:39:04 > 0:39:06you like living your life.

0:39:06 > 0:39:09You're just, like, cutting the foundation.

0:39:09 > 0:39:15Everything that you've based your person on,

0:39:15 > 0:39:19who you are as a person, is gone. You've got to start all over again here.

0:39:24 > 0:39:27Seeing the people closest to them

0:39:27 > 0:39:30was a heart-breaking experience for the whole family.

0:39:30 > 0:39:34But if the Edwards can't face leaving the people they love,

0:39:34 > 0:39:37they'll have to wave goodbye to their dream for ever.

0:39:37 > 0:39:43After ten long years, it's time for them to make their final choice.

0:39:46 > 0:39:50This week has been refreshing.

0:39:50 > 0:39:53Yeah, refreshing.

0:39:53 > 0:39:56It's helped me to realise what's important.

0:39:56 > 0:39:59Well, I say... I did know what was important,

0:39:59 > 0:40:03but what needs to be the number one priority.

0:40:03 > 0:40:08Clive is very considerate of what other people want and need from him,

0:40:08 > 0:40:13so I've been trying to encourage him to be downright selfish.

0:40:13 > 0:40:15What I was doing was that I was thinking,

0:40:15 > 0:40:18"What do the kids want? What does Tracey want?"

0:40:18 > 0:40:21But I really wasn't thinking what I wanted,

0:40:21 > 0:40:24so I think this week has just helped me to realise

0:40:24 > 0:40:26what I wanted as well.

0:40:26 > 0:40:30So it did actually make the decision a lot easier.

0:40:30 > 0:40:35The future now is down to us.

0:40:35 > 0:40:36It really is.

0:40:38 > 0:40:41It could swing either way, I'm convinced of that.

0:40:41 > 0:40:45It could swing either way depending on our emotions.

0:40:45 > 0:40:48I'm excited about what's going to happen in the future.

0:40:48 > 0:40:50In the near future.

0:40:52 > 0:40:53What about you?

0:40:53 > 0:40:57I don't know what's going to happen in the near future.

0:40:57 > 0:41:01It's finally time to decide and find out once and for all

0:41:01 > 0:41:06where the Edwards' future lies - at home or in New Zealand.

0:41:06 > 0:41:09Based on our experience this week in New Zealand,

0:41:09 > 0:41:13our final vote, individually, is for...

0:41:24 > 0:41:26ALL: New Zealand.

0:41:28 > 0:41:33- You've got UK. Why do you think UK, then?- Family.

0:41:33 > 0:41:35Family, I knew it!

0:41:35 > 0:41:40That's a nice quality that you've thought of the family.

0:41:40 > 0:41:43That's no problem. So, there's a little bit more discussion, then.

0:41:43 > 0:41:45I think we know it's exciting

0:41:45 > 0:41:48and we've experienced it

0:41:48 > 0:41:51and I think New Zealand would be a better place for us here.

0:41:51 > 0:41:53We know it suits us,

0:41:53 > 0:41:56we know we can afford it,

0:41:56 > 0:42:00and see if we can get here, in the end, for a happy ever after.

0:42:00 > 0:42:02But it's still scary!

0:42:02 > 0:42:04THEY LAUGH

0:42:04 > 0:42:07But we're still in discussion.

0:42:07 > 0:42:13- We will have a family conference. - Yes.- And see what's the way forward.

0:42:13 > 0:42:16Do you need an ice-cream after all that?

0:42:16 > 0:42:18THEY LAUGH

0:42:19 > 0:42:22I'm absolutely raring to go now,

0:42:22 > 0:42:26because it's been ten years where we've just faffed on.

0:42:26 > 0:42:29It's just been, "Shall we? Shan't we?"

0:42:29 > 0:42:31It's just been irritating.

0:42:31 > 0:42:35We've irritated ourselves with indecision,

0:42:35 > 0:42:38so now that we've made this choice, enough of that.

0:42:38 > 0:42:40Get on with it.

0:42:40 > 0:42:44We've just got to take the bull by the horns and just get here.

0:42:44 > 0:42:46So, New Zealand, here we come.

0:42:46 > 0:42:49New Zealand, watch out. We're coming!

0:42:51 > 0:42:53It's decided!

0:42:53 > 0:42:58The Edwards have chosen to make their dream move to New Zealand.

0:42:58 > 0:43:01Getting Naomi on board may take a little time

0:43:01 > 0:43:04and a lot of ice-cream, but after ten years,

0:43:04 > 0:43:08the family can finally look forward to a new life Down Under.
