0:00:02 > 0:00:06All parents want the best possible life for their children.

0:00:06 > 0:00:09But what if you believed the right place could be

0:00:09 > 0:00:13on the other side of the world and they didn't agree?

0:00:13 > 0:00:17For Stuart Carroll, Australia holds the key to a better life for him...

0:00:17 > 0:00:21Put the footie on, Scott. Oh, yeah! It's just perfect!

0:00:21 > 0:00:23..and his family...

0:00:23 > 0:00:27I didn't think I'd be able to stand up so quickly. That was so cool.

0:00:27 > 0:00:30..but not everyone can bear the heartache emigrating is bound

0:00:30 > 0:00:32to cause.

0:00:32 > 0:00:36I think they'd love it here, but...I can't make them come.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Sorry.

0:01:03 > 0:01:08With its sunny climate and connections to the UK, Australia has

0:01:08 > 0:01:12always been a favourite destination for Brits seeking a new life.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15But the grass isn't always greener, and leaving everything you

0:01:15 > 0:01:19know thousands of miles away can be a lot harder than you expect.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Over the next week,

0:01:23 > 0:01:27the Carrolls will experience the reality of living in Australia.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30At the end of it, they'll face a life-changing decision,

0:01:30 > 0:01:34whether to stay in the UK or to make the move for good.

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Flying 13,000 miles around the world to land in Melbourne,

0:01:39 > 0:01:43the Carrolls have completed the first part of their journey,

0:01:43 > 0:01:45ready for the challenges ahead.

0:01:46 > 0:01:51It's a long way. They seemed to cope quite well. I'm not sure about Deb.

0:01:51 > 0:01:55No. They slept, but we didn't. So we're tired and they're not.

0:01:55 > 0:02:00It is a long time. But I'm hoping it's going to be worth it.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04Just looking forward to seeing it, seeing Melbourne for the first time.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10Back home in Warrington, the Carroll family are Stuart, Debbie

0:02:10 > 0:02:15and their 16-year-old triplets, Scott, Shan and Sophie.

0:02:15 > 0:02:19They came here just a year ago from Liverpool, but Stuart

0:02:19 > 0:02:22and Debbie have been dreaming of a bigger move for even longer.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26It started off, I think, with an email that came round my work,

0:02:26 > 0:02:30suggesting that there might be opportunities in Australia,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32so the email just planted a little seed.

0:02:32 > 0:02:35Mentioned it to Debbie and it escalated from there.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38It seemed to have opportunities, the weather,

0:02:38 > 0:02:41the lifestyle and the culture that was exciting

0:02:41 > 0:02:45but at the same time, not massively different to what we've got here,

0:02:45 > 0:02:48so it would be a huge culture shock.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51For Debbie, Australia offered the chance to have the family life

0:02:51 > 0:02:53she's always wanted.

0:02:53 > 0:02:57Stuart used to work away a lot then. Long hours.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00I think it sort of progressed from there because we thought,

0:03:00 > 0:03:04well, over in Australia, you hear them saying, we go to work

0:03:04 > 0:03:07early, finish early and then you spend the evening with your family.

0:03:07 > 0:03:12I thought, maybe this is a way Stuart can get out of working away from home.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16Emigrating to the other side of the world is an extreme move.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19But they're convinced it would benefit the whole family.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23We've had to take into consideration the children's views,

0:03:23 > 0:03:27but we are hoping that this will be the best for all of us

0:03:27 > 0:03:31and the children will be able to see that they will get a better life out there.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Unfortunately for Debbie and Stuart,

0:03:34 > 0:03:36the triplets are divided on the idea of emigrating.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39My and my mum and my dad, we're all positive,

0:03:39 > 0:03:42but Shan and Sophie are not.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46I think it's because Sophie is scared about making new friends,

0:03:46 > 0:03:48and stuff like that.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51I don't really want to go at all.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54Australia's good, but it's good here as well.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57I don't see why we have to move.

0:03:57 > 0:04:03If we do move to Australia, I won't blame them for it cos I do know they are thinking about us.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06My dad's been saying that, like, it's easier to get a job

0:04:06 > 0:04:08and stuff over there.

0:04:08 > 0:04:14It'd just be better for us to sort of grow up, but we've mainly

0:04:14 > 0:04:19like grown up now, so I think it's a weird time to try and move us.

0:04:19 > 0:04:23And there's one big issue that could tear the family apart.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25Debbie has an older daughter, Natalie.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27She lives nearby with her baby Sara

0:04:27 > 0:04:30and will definitely not be making the move.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33They just said that they were going and they asked me

0:04:33 > 0:04:37if I wanted to go and I said no, I'm not interested.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40And it's a decision that's already causing heartache.

0:04:40 > 0:04:44Technology these days, it is a lot easier to be in contact.

0:04:44 > 0:04:50The only thing is you don't have that physical contact with people.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54And that's the thing I think that upsets me really, the...

0:04:59 > 0:05:02The thing... Sorry.

0:05:02 > 0:05:07Leaving Sara is just one of the hardest things to think about.

0:05:07 > 0:05:11So I just try not to think of it cos I just don't want to do it.

0:05:17 > 0:05:22Things like the hugs and the kisses off the baby.

0:05:22 > 0:05:24They'll be the things that I miss.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29That's what I'll find really hard.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35And when she comes running to you and...

0:05:35 > 0:05:38It would be a case of just touching the screen.

0:05:38 > 0:05:40Sorry.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50The Carrolls face the classic parents' dilemma

0:05:50 > 0:05:52with an Aussie twist.

0:05:52 > 0:05:56They want to give their family the best possible future they can

0:05:56 > 0:05:59and believe Australia could be the right place for it.

0:05:59 > 0:06:03But their children are growing up fast and want lives of their own.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07And persuading them to emigrate could be a very tough task.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10The Carrolls will have a week in Melbourne to see

0:06:10 > 0:06:14if life Down Under really could give them everything they need.

0:06:14 > 0:06:16Set along miles of golden beaches,

0:06:16 > 0:06:19it's ideal for enjoying the outdoor Aussie lifestyle.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22And as the second largest city, there's plenty of culture

0:06:22 > 0:06:24and buzz in the centre.

0:06:24 > 0:06:28Their home for the week is in the coastal district of Point Lonsdale.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32What will they make of this modern Australian home?

0:06:32 > 0:06:34It's all very exciting!

0:06:34 > 0:06:38Nice big open plan, what we like.

0:06:38 > 0:06:43- Woo-hoo!- Nice and cool. - This is nice. Wow!- It's lovely.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46It's certainly a good start to their week and upstairs,

0:06:46 > 0:06:50the bedrooms don't disappoint either.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53- God! It's big.- Yeah, quite big.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Oh! See you later.

0:06:55 > 0:07:00For Stuart and Debbie, this is the culmination of years of dreaming.

0:07:00 > 0:07:04It's very real now. The sun's out, we're on the other side of the world,

0:07:04 > 0:07:08it's a beautiful day, we've got a long and busy week ahead of us.

0:07:08 > 0:07:09It's really exciting.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11Never been to Melbourne before.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14So I think we need to do a bit of exploring to see

0:07:14 > 0:07:16if Melbourne's for us.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19But the house, I feel really comfortable and that makes me

0:07:19 > 0:07:21feel at home here.

0:07:24 > 0:07:28In the UK, the Carrolls own this spacious five bedroom house

0:07:28 > 0:07:32in Warrington. It's a home they're proud of and they have high

0:07:32 > 0:07:35expectations of what they want Down Under.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38I think what we're looking for is space.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41In your face, open plan, from the second you open the door.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43Preferably four bedroomed.

0:07:43 > 0:07:48If we could get five in our price range, that would be even better.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52The Carrolls think their house is worth £360,000, which would

0:07:52 > 0:07:57give them a budget of around 400,000 for a house in Australia.

0:07:57 > 0:08:01We've arranged for the Carrolls to sample Melbourne's housing market.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04We'll show them three typical options, ranging from what

0:08:04 > 0:08:08they want from their ideal home to what they can afford.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11After seeing for themselves what's on offer,

0:08:11 > 0:08:14they'll discover the price of each one.

0:08:14 > 0:08:18The first property's in the Ocean Grove area.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21It's right on the coast with superb surfing beaches.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24However, it's an hour and a half from central Melbourne,

0:08:24 > 0:08:26meaning a long commute for Stuart.

0:08:26 > 0:08:31But could this four bedroom house impress them enough to make it worth the journey?

0:08:34 > 0:08:37Nice, open, airy.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Make yourself at home.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46Oh, yeah. That's nice. Looking at the garden, that's quite a large garden.

0:08:46 > 0:08:48Great, good start.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51This might already feel like home to Stuart,

0:08:51 > 0:08:54but unfortunately that's not such a good thing for Scott.

0:08:54 > 0:08:58This just doesn't look Australian. It's more English.

0:08:58 > 0:09:03If Scott wants something more Australian, there's a room that might be just the thing.

0:09:03 > 0:09:08- Ah, this is the den. This is the media room. - There's your media room, Scott.

0:09:08 > 0:09:10- This is nice.- This is nice.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13Let's just see if the football's on the telly. Oh, yeah. I could do this.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17Watch the football, maybe catch up on some of the Premier League stuff,

0:09:17 > 0:09:21bit of motor racing, watch a couple of movies. Nice big screen there.

0:09:21 > 0:09:25I can see myself here for a few hours with a couple of tinnies.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28It just looks weird though because it's old and new.

0:09:28 > 0:09:29They contrast each other.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32OK, so it's the furniture that Scott doesn't like.

0:09:32 > 0:09:36That could be easily fixed. What about the bedrooms?

0:09:36 > 0:09:39Can they make this house more appealing?

0:09:39 > 0:09:44- This is a spacious bedroom.- Is this the master bedroom?- I don't know.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48- It's got a walk-in wardrobe.- That's ticked your boxes then!- Yeah.

0:09:48 > 0:09:52It certainly sounds as if Debbie likes what she sees. Or does she?

0:09:52 > 0:09:56I don't think this master bedroom is really my cup of tea.

0:09:56 > 0:10:01I think it's the furniture. It's not what I would have at home.

0:10:01 > 0:10:04Could the Carrolls be forgetting they can fit this house out

0:10:04 > 0:10:06to their own tastes?

0:10:06 > 0:10:10Maybe the garden will help them see it from a different perspective.

0:10:10 > 0:10:15To be honest, I think the garden is probably the best feature of the whole house.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17Oh, dear! That's a "no" then!

0:10:17 > 0:10:21Perhaps the price will change their opinion.

0:10:21 > 0:10:25How does this house fit with their £400,000 budget?

0:10:29 > 0:10:31- Let's see.- Moment of truth.

0:10:34 > 0:10:36Ooh!

0:10:36 > 0:10:38That's just under their limit.

0:10:38 > 0:10:42- That's shocked me, that. - Yeah, that's steep.

0:10:42 > 0:10:47This is dearer than our house at home and...our house, to me,

0:10:47 > 0:10:49I feel is far superior to this.

0:10:49 > 0:10:53I wouldn't spend 600,000 on a property of this nature.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56We might change our mind when we see the price of other properties,

0:10:56 > 0:10:59but right now, that's a surprise.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02This is a bad start for Stuart and Debbie.

0:11:02 > 0:11:06Hopefully, the second property won't be such a surprise.

0:11:06 > 0:11:10Set in Portarlington, it's a 60 mile commute to Melbourne

0:11:10 > 0:11:14but with great beaches and plenty of shops and cafes,

0:11:14 > 0:11:16there should be something for all the Carrolls.

0:11:16 > 0:11:19This three bedroom house is definitely

0:11:19 > 0:11:20set in an impressive location.

0:11:20 > 0:11:24- That view is stunning! - Yeah.- Absolutely stunning!

0:11:24 > 0:11:27Hopefully, the inside will be just as appealing.

0:11:27 > 0:11:29Very optimistic about this one.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33Oh! Wow!

0:11:33 > 0:11:35Blimey, that's different!

0:11:35 > 0:11:38Not overly keen on the tiles, but...

0:11:38 > 0:11:40It's like you're walking into a bathroom.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42That doesn't sound too promising.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45But Shan's spotted something for Stuart.

0:11:45 > 0:11:48- Dad, look. It's what you've always wanted.- Oh, my God!

0:11:48 > 0:11:50- Home gym.- I feel tired, just looking at it.

0:11:50 > 0:11:55Come on, Stuart. I thought you wanted to embrace the Australian lifestyle.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58There is a room that might be more to Stuart's liking though.

0:11:58 > 0:12:02- This is what you call a media room! - This is fantastic!

0:12:02 > 0:12:06And Stuart isn't too tired to give the equipment here a test run.

0:12:06 > 0:12:09Put the footie on, Scott.

0:12:09 > 0:12:10Oh, yeah.

0:12:10 > 0:12:14In your mind, when you're thinking of large spacious Australian

0:12:14 > 0:12:17properties, you're thinking about rooms of this nature.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20You'd never get anything like this at home.

0:12:20 > 0:12:23Typically Australian, the bedrooms are downstairs.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26But that doesn't seem to be a problem.

0:12:26 > 0:12:30- This one's mine because it has an en suite. - We'll all be fighting for this room.

0:12:30 > 0:12:34Look at that. Stepping out into the pool, brilliant!

0:12:34 > 0:12:39Upstairs, the views from the living space are even more impressive.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42You can't really put a price on a view like that.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45- I think someone's going to!- Yeah!

0:12:45 > 0:12:47That's absolutely gorgeous.

0:12:47 > 0:12:51Everyone's certainly happy with what they've seen from upstairs.

0:12:51 > 0:12:55But Debbie's spotted a problem. This house only has three bedrooms.

0:12:55 > 0:12:59If anybody else came over to stay,

0:12:59 > 0:13:02where would we put them?

0:13:02 > 0:13:05I think it's dead important that we find a place that can hold

0:13:05 > 0:13:08Natalie and the baby cos then she'll want to come out more.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11- Yeah, you couldn't do that here.- You couldn't do that in this property.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13It started well for this house,

0:13:13 > 0:13:16but it's looking like everyone's lost interest in it.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18Can the price show them they could make it work?

0:13:21 > 0:13:26- I'm shocked at that.- You're having a laugh!- This is cheaper.

0:13:26 > 0:13:31£355,000 is well under their 400,000 budget.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34At that price, I would almost consider buying it,

0:13:34 > 0:13:37knocking it down and building a house that fits.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39That's really encouraging.

0:13:39 > 0:13:42Although this house is too small for the Carrolls,

0:13:42 > 0:13:46being in a less developed area does mean relatively low prices.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49Can the last property give them what they're after?

0:13:49 > 0:13:53Back in the Ocean Grove area, it's a large four bedroom home.

0:13:53 > 0:13:57Hopefully the extra space will be enough to make the difference.

0:13:59 > 0:14:00Oh, wow!

0:14:00 > 0:14:01Wow!

0:14:02 > 0:14:05That is just gorgeous.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08Even though it's so big and open, there's that cosy feeling.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11It does really work.

0:14:11 > 0:14:15I think this kitchen's nice. It works well.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18You've got all the family area together.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20I like this.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25I love spiral stairs.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28This is nice.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31This would be perfect for the baby.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34You can make this into some kind of seating area

0:14:34 > 0:14:36for the kids. Some kind of den.

0:14:36 > 0:14:40I'm thinking about the media room type arrangement.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42- Oh!- That does not seem safe!

0:14:46 > 0:14:48I changed my mind. I'll have this one.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50There is one downside.

0:14:50 > 0:14:53The unusual layout upstairs could mean problems if Natalie

0:14:53 > 0:14:57and baby Sara visit, but Stuart has it all figured out.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00We have this area as Shan's room, say,

0:15:00 > 0:15:03and then we put this room aside for when Natalie and Sara are here.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05Natalie could stay in this bit,

0:15:05 > 0:15:09either with Sara or we could put a temporary bed for Sara in here.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12You'd love that, having Sara with you.

0:15:12 > 0:15:16Problem solved. It's time to see what's outside.

0:15:20 > 0:15:24- Oh, God! This is lovely! - I like the size of it.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26- Go on, Scott.- No.

0:15:27 > 0:15:31I've always wanted a trampoline!

0:15:31 > 0:15:34LAUGHTER

0:15:34 > 0:15:36SCOTT: That is so embarrassing!

0:15:36 > 0:15:39Now, that's what I call enjoying time together!

0:15:39 > 0:15:41Although not everyone's smiling.

0:15:41 > 0:15:45That was the most embarrassing thing ever.

0:15:45 > 0:15:47If that goes on TV, I'm suing the BBC!

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Of course we wouldn't do that, Scott(!)

0:15:50 > 0:15:53This house has certainly put a smile on everyone's face.

0:15:53 > 0:15:57Let's hope the price doesn't bring a tear to the eye.

0:16:00 > 0:16:02Will you turn over the card, please, mate?

0:16:05 > 0:16:09£415,000 would mean going over budget.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12Based on the other two properties we've seen,

0:16:12 > 0:16:15I actually think that's a really good price.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18This house is my favourite of the ones we've seen today.

0:16:18 > 0:16:23I think it's because it has more of a UK-type feel to it. It's cosy.

0:16:23 > 0:16:27It's been an eye-opening day for the Carrolls.

0:16:27 > 0:16:30The first property had the TV room for Stuart,

0:16:30 > 0:16:33but was simply not a contender for the children.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36The second house would have been ideal,

0:16:36 > 0:16:39if they could knock it down and build another in its place!

0:16:39 > 0:16:42And the final house put a smile on everyone's face,

0:16:42 > 0:16:45although Scott would rather it hadn't.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48So, how will they vote?

0:16:54 > 0:16:56- UK.- Australia.- Australia.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00Why UK?

0:17:00 > 0:17:04I picked the UK cos I feel the three properties that we've seen

0:17:04 > 0:17:10today, none of them actually would accommodate us as a family

0:17:10 > 0:17:14and also any family or friends that were looking to come over.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16Based on what we've seen today,

0:17:16 > 0:17:20I wouldn't want to give up our home for any of those ones.

0:17:20 > 0:17:24I'm quite confident that we can find something perfect for us.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30Their day house hunting wasn't the big success that Stuart

0:17:30 > 0:17:33and Debbie may have been hoping for, but two and a half votes

0:17:33 > 0:17:37out of three is an encouraging sign from the children.

0:17:37 > 0:17:40However, with property looking expensive, it puts

0:17:40 > 0:17:44the pressure on Stuart to find good work opportunities in Melbourne.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48At home in Warrington, Stuart is an IT architect

0:17:48 > 0:17:51and Debbie works in administration.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54Stuart's job provides the main salary, but it does mean long hours.

0:17:54 > 0:17:58He's hoping emigrating will help redress the balance.

0:17:58 > 0:18:02My perception is the Australians have a much better

0:18:02 > 0:18:05grip on the work-life balance than we have in the UK.

0:18:05 > 0:18:09They put their lifestyle ahead of their working life

0:18:09 > 0:18:12and that means that whilst they work hard,

0:18:12 > 0:18:15they know when to switch off, that's the working day over,

0:18:15 > 0:18:18I'm going to transition into my home life.

0:18:19 > 0:18:24The Carrolls' hopes of getting a visa depend on Stuart's job prospects.

0:18:24 > 0:18:28So he's spending the morning at one of Melbourne's largest IT companies.

0:18:28 > 0:18:33Before the interview, Stuart is given a glimpse of just how high his career could go.

0:18:33 > 0:18:37- Hello.- How are you?- Very good, thank you.- Nice to meet you.- And you.

0:18:37 > 0:18:40- You could get used to this quite quickly.- Yeah.

0:18:40 > 0:18:44It's one of the tallest buildings in Melbourne and it overlooks the Docklands Precinct.

0:18:44 > 0:18:48- My view tends to be staring out over a small green area.- Rolling hills?

0:18:48 > 0:18:52No, just a small green area! A rolling lump of grass. It's very small.

0:18:52 > 0:18:56This is fundamentally different. This is about as different as it could be.

0:18:56 > 0:18:58Right. Fantastic.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01While Stuart contemplates the Melbourne high-life,

0:19:01 > 0:19:06Debbie and the triplets are keeping their feet on the ground.

0:19:06 > 0:19:09Today, it's their chance to sample big city living.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12However, Debbie's thoughts are elsewhere.

0:19:12 > 0:19:16As I stand here, I can actually see the building Stuart's in.

0:19:16 > 0:19:18Quite nervous, anxious.

0:19:18 > 0:19:21The move to Australia actually all depends on how well

0:19:21 > 0:19:23that's going to go.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26You couldn't ask for anything better than down here.

0:19:26 > 0:19:27It's absolutely gorgeous.

0:19:27 > 0:19:31Melbourne is a far cry from Warrington and the chance to see

0:19:31 > 0:19:34what they'd be gaining has brought to mind what they stand to lose.

0:19:34 > 0:19:38I feel like I've got to choose between Natalie and Sara

0:19:38 > 0:19:40and my nan and everyone.

0:19:40 > 0:19:42And my mum and dad.

0:19:42 > 0:19:47And I don't want to like ruin their dream,

0:19:47 > 0:19:51but I would rather stay at home with Natalie and Sara.

0:19:51 > 0:19:56There's not a day gone by when I've not actually thought of Natalie

0:19:56 > 0:19:58and Sara.

0:20:02 > 0:20:07Um... I think they'd love it here, but I can't make them come.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14Sorry.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17It's the hardest decision for me to ever make in my life.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23Back in the office, Stuart is with MD Mack Lemon

0:20:23 > 0:20:25and group director Marie Rouane.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28This is the perfect opportunity for him to talk shop.

0:20:28 > 0:20:32The professional services side is geared to capability uplift

0:20:32 > 0:20:36- and we also do the heavy lifting. - Predominantly within the architecture space.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40Infrastructure architecture, where obviously your specialisation lies.

0:20:40 > 0:20:45- Enterprise architectural methodologies.- An important architecture discipline.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47Predominantly on enterprise architecture,

0:20:47 > 0:20:50spanned into solution architecture and different domains.

0:20:50 > 0:20:56- People who have an understanding of the language.- It's important to have that common vocabulary.- Exactly.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59Well, I'm sure that all made sense to them(!)

0:20:59 > 0:21:03but what about Stuart's big reasons for wanting to emigrate?

0:21:03 > 0:21:06I understand you moved to Australia yourself in recent years.

0:21:06 > 0:21:10Culturally, how have you found the difference?

0:21:10 > 0:21:13If you think you're going to come here and knock off at four

0:21:13 > 0:21:16and go to the beach, that's not going to happen.

0:21:16 > 0:21:19- Right, that's a disappointment. - I'm sorry.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22I don't mind a little hard work every now and again.

0:21:22 > 0:21:26Stuart might be smiling, but that's a real blow.

0:21:26 > 0:21:30His whole reason for moving is to work less hours.

0:21:30 > 0:21:34I'm very curious, very keen to understand, the salary expectations.

0:21:34 > 0:21:38I would say for a permanent role, you'd be looking anywhere

0:21:38 > 0:21:45in a range of about 160-180, which equates to about £120,000.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49Right, OK. So that's a substantial difference to the UK.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52That's over double Stuart's UK salary

0:21:52 > 0:21:54and a great end to the meeting.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57And when Stuart catches up with his family,

0:21:57 > 0:21:59they're all eager to know what he found out.

0:21:59 > 0:22:03I don't think we're going to struggle finding gainful employment at all.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06- We undervalued ourselves a little. - How much?

0:22:06 > 0:22:08It all depends on this!

0:22:08 > 0:22:13- We need to factor in a few things, the cost of living...- Just tell us.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16But I think we're looking at somewhere in the region

0:22:16 > 0:22:21- of 160-180,000 a year. - Gosh! Wow!- And that's permanent.

0:22:21 > 0:22:23When are we moving then?

0:22:25 > 0:22:29So having discovered he could double his salary,

0:22:29 > 0:22:32do we need to ask which way Stuart will vote?

0:22:32 > 0:22:35Based on the job opportunities I've seen today, I'm voting for...

0:22:41 > 0:22:44..undecided.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46Why?

0:22:46 > 0:22:49The salary's very attractive, I've got to say.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52The earning potential's fantastic. But it's not just about that.

0:22:52 > 0:22:56What I learned about the Australian work ethic was a little

0:22:56 > 0:22:59bit of a surprise. People come in early, people go late.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02That's a surprise. I need to factor that in.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06- It's no good earning the salary if you can't be at home, enjoying it. - I'm shocked.

0:23:06 > 0:23:13I really thought you'd go for Australia, but I'm purely basing on financial terms.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15- It's not that I'm afraid of hard work.- I know that.

0:23:15 > 0:23:19I just don't know if I want to come chasing all the way to Australia after it.

0:23:19 > 0:23:22I may as well do that at home.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31Stuart's undecided vote was a big surprise.

0:23:31 > 0:23:35But it highlighted just how much this move really means to him.

0:23:35 > 0:23:39Even so, there's no getting away from money matters just yet.

0:23:39 > 0:23:42As the sale of their UK home could be crucial

0:23:42 > 0:23:44to their finances in Australia.

0:23:44 > 0:23:48The Carrolls own this five bedroom detached house in Warrington.

0:23:48 > 0:23:52They bought it for £360,000 and need to get as close to

0:23:52 > 0:23:56that as possible to afford their Aussie dream.

0:23:56 > 0:24:00So we asked two estate agents to give us their valuations.

0:24:02 > 0:24:05A spacious family dining kitchen,

0:24:05 > 0:24:08with French doors that lead out onto the rear garden.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Oh, wow! This is a gorgeous room!

0:24:10 > 0:24:13If we can get a buyer like her, we'll be fine.

0:24:13 > 0:24:17The family entertaining space, which has been very attractively appointed.

0:24:17 > 0:24:19- There we are.- Thank you.

0:24:19 > 0:24:21Leading out onto the rear garden.

0:24:21 > 0:24:24Great double bedroom and a built-in wardrobe.

0:24:24 > 0:24:29A study or additional office space, which is a popular requirement,

0:24:29 > 0:24:32in the current climate for homeworkers.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35Definitely helps with the value of the house. People like storage.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38They've not got things out showing then. This is the en suite.

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Four piece en suite, you don't often see that.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43Crunch time now!

0:24:43 > 0:24:47I'd recommend that it was placed on the market at £360,000

0:24:47 > 0:24:50and I would suggest that we probably would be

0:24:50 > 0:24:54looking at offers at £340,000 for a quick sale.

0:24:54 > 0:24:58In today's market conditions, I would put value this property at £360,000.

0:24:58 > 0:24:59However, for a quick sale,

0:24:59 > 0:25:03I would recommend putting on the market at £350,000.

0:25:04 > 0:25:08- Bit less than what we thought. - I was expecting it to be 360.

0:25:08 > 0:25:10That's what we paid.

0:25:10 > 0:25:15So we'll have to think about whether we're going to sell it or rent it.

0:25:15 > 0:25:17I think we can afford to be patient.

0:25:17 > 0:25:21I don't think we're going to buy the moment we turn up on the Australian shore.

0:25:21 > 0:25:24We're going to rent for probably a year.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27The Carrolls may not be willing to sell their house at a loss,

0:25:27 > 0:25:30but can they afford Australia if they rent it?

0:25:30 > 0:25:34We've prepared a comparison of their costs to help them decide.

0:25:37 > 0:25:42- Milk.- There's a difference in price! - Look at the milk!- That's huge.

0:25:42 > 0:25:46- That's five times more. - That's enormous.

0:25:46 > 0:25:49We'll have to get our own cow.

0:25:49 > 0:25:51- Yeah.- That's huge.

0:25:52 > 0:25:54So...

0:25:57 > 0:26:01So the grand difference per week, in terms of the food in Australia,

0:26:01 > 0:26:05is going to be around £63.64 more expensive.

0:26:05 > 0:26:10That's nearly £250 extra per month on the shopping bill.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14And there's still the difference in rent and bills to take into account.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17OK, so according to these calculations,

0:26:17 > 0:26:21it's going to cost us another £468 per month to live in Australia.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24That's a big hike in outgoings.

0:26:24 > 0:26:27But Stuart would be getting a higher salary,

0:26:27 > 0:26:30so how does this affect the final figure?

0:26:30 > 0:26:33About £39,000 a year difference.

0:26:33 > 0:26:36Well...it's a no brainer.

0:26:36 > 0:26:40Three and a quarter thousand pounds a month better off in Australia.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43That's quite a lot of money left over each month.

0:26:43 > 0:26:47Australia must be looking even more promising now.

0:26:47 > 0:26:51So have Debbie and Stuart been convinced?

0:26:51 > 0:26:54Based on our reality check, we're voting for...

0:26:56 > 0:26:59BOTH: Australia.

0:26:59 > 0:27:03It's a no brainer. Absolute no brainer, based on the finances alone.

0:27:03 > 0:27:08Yeah, we'd be foolish not to move. Just got to convince the kids now.

0:27:13 > 0:27:17On paper, Stuart and Debbie's Australian dream looks very

0:27:17 > 0:27:18promising indeed.

0:27:18 > 0:27:22But persuading the children to share it will take more than numbers.

0:27:22 > 0:27:25If they're to have a future in Australia,

0:27:25 > 0:27:28it's crucial the lifestyle Down Under is right for them too.

0:27:28 > 0:27:32The Carrolls would love to spend more time outside

0:27:32 > 0:27:36together as a family, but the UK weather means it rarely happens.

0:27:36 > 0:27:40There's not an awful lot you can do with the children in the winter.

0:27:40 > 0:27:43You do find that you sit in different rooms,

0:27:43 > 0:27:46talk less and you kind of drift apart as a family.

0:27:46 > 0:27:49Stuart and Debbie are hoping the Aussie lifestyle

0:27:49 > 0:27:53and climate can help convince the triplets to emigrate.

0:27:54 > 0:27:59So today, the Carrolls have come to do exactly what Australia is

0:27:59 > 0:28:03renowned for, surfing. Well, maybe not all the Carrolls.

0:28:03 > 0:28:06- You didn't fancy it? - No, it's not for me.

0:28:06 > 0:28:09- I think the kids will enjoy it much more than we will. - You're probably right.

0:28:09 > 0:28:12- If we got involved, we'd probably cramp their style.- I think we would.

0:28:12 > 0:28:16Mum and Dad in wetsuits! Doesn't go down too good.

0:28:16 > 0:28:19That's a very weak excuse, Debbie!

0:28:19 > 0:28:22Fortunately, the triplets have no such worries

0:28:22 > 0:28:26and they're going to enjoy a surf lesson in warm Aussie seas.

0:28:26 > 0:28:28Despite never having surfed before,

0:28:28 > 0:28:32everyone's keeping their heads above water. Just!

0:28:32 > 0:28:35I am getting the hang of it. Step by step.

0:28:37 > 0:28:40It's very hard. Harder than it looks.

0:28:40 > 0:28:44I haven't managed to stand up just yet, but I'm getting there.

0:28:44 > 0:28:47And it seems one person isn't just getting there,

0:28:47 > 0:28:49I think Shan has arrived!

0:28:49 > 0:28:51Well done! You're a star!

0:28:51 > 0:28:53I didn't think I'd be able to stand up so quickly.

0:28:53 > 0:28:56It was so cool. Yeah, I could do this every day.

0:28:56 > 0:28:59Blue skies, clear seas and plenty of surf,

0:28:59 > 0:29:03today has delivered everything Stuart and Debbie have dreamt of.

0:29:03 > 0:29:06I think this kind of thing is what we should be encouraging them

0:29:06 > 0:29:09to get involved in cos I do think that the more of this kind

0:29:09 > 0:29:12of thing they do, the more they'll buy into the Aussie lifestyle.

0:29:12 > 0:29:16I can't remember the last time we did something like this together.

0:29:19 > 0:29:22And immersing themselves in the lifestyle has made

0:29:22 > 0:29:25the children see Australia in a very different light.

0:29:27 > 0:29:30At home, we don't really do anything together

0:29:30 > 0:29:33because there's nothing that we all like.

0:29:33 > 0:29:38So I think being able to do this would definitely bring us closer, especially me and Sophie.

0:29:38 > 0:29:42The surfing has made me feel a lot better about moving to Australia cos I know this is

0:29:42 > 0:29:47something I'd definitely want to do and get involved in.

0:29:47 > 0:29:51So it has made Australia seem like a better place to come to

0:29:51 > 0:29:53and made me feel more comfortable.

0:29:59 > 0:30:02- It's all right.- It's boss! - Would you do it again?- Love to.

0:30:02 > 0:30:05- I'd definitely do it again. - Brilliant.

0:30:05 > 0:30:08- Spot on. Hungry?- Yeah. - Come on, let's go.

0:30:08 > 0:30:12Then it's time for the Carrolls to enjoy that other Aussie tradition, the barbie.

0:30:12 > 0:30:16This is one activity that Stuart is happy to join in with.

0:30:16 > 0:30:19Oh, look at that grease! Fantastic!

0:30:19 > 0:30:23- Here's to our first Aussie barbie! Cheers.- Cheers!

0:30:27 > 0:30:32And Stuart doesn't waste a chance to sell the Australian lifestyle.

0:30:32 > 0:30:36Comparing this to what we might be doing back at home, on a miserable

0:30:36 > 0:30:41spring dank dark day, how does this compare as a lifestyle choice?

0:30:41 > 0:30:43You make England sound so great(!)

0:30:43 > 0:30:46I would much rather be here, doing this.

0:30:46 > 0:30:51I think if it was like this, we would spend more time together.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54So it would be a much better lifestyle.

0:30:55 > 0:31:00So, after a very Aussie afternoon together, has today convinced

0:31:00 > 0:31:03all the Carrolls moving Down Under could be worth the upheaval?

0:31:06 > 0:31:09Based on the Australian lifestyle, we are voting for...

0:31:14 > 0:31:17- Australia.- Australia.- Undecided!

0:31:17 > 0:31:19Why are you undecided?

0:31:19 > 0:31:23Because the lifestyle's really good here,

0:31:23 > 0:31:28but because I'm so sporty and I am active, I do get out quite

0:31:28 > 0:31:33a lot more than you and I do enjoy the stuff back in England as well.

0:31:33 > 0:31:38I've had such a fantastic day. That's why I picked Australia.

0:31:38 > 0:31:42I think the opportunities here are just so much more frequent.

0:31:42 > 0:31:45You wouldn't have to work as hard to enjoy yourselves.

0:31:49 > 0:31:53A day experiencing the classic Aussie lifestyle was a big hit with

0:31:53 > 0:31:57the Carrolls and an almost unanimous vote gave a huge boost

0:31:57 > 0:32:01to Stuart and Debbie's hopes of winning the children over.

0:32:01 > 0:32:05But emigrating seldom comes without facing tough choices,

0:32:05 > 0:32:09as watching messages from home could prove.

0:32:09 > 0:32:14So we've prepared a DVD of thoughts from family and friends in the UK.

0:32:14 > 0:32:19Hello, folks. Hope you're enjoying yourselves out there.

0:32:19 > 0:32:22- Hi.- Hi, everyone.

0:32:22 > 0:32:24Hi, everybody.

0:32:24 > 0:32:29When I was a young man, younger than Stu, I wanted to do what

0:32:29 > 0:32:31he wants to do and never did it.

0:32:31 > 0:32:33- And regretted it. - DEBBIE: I didn't know that.

0:32:33 > 0:32:36So I'm fully behind what they're doing.

0:32:36 > 0:32:40And if the triplets buy into it, there's a great future, I think.

0:32:40 > 0:32:43I do worry about his mum,

0:32:43 > 0:32:46in the sense that I don't think she'll cope very well.

0:32:46 > 0:32:49I could be losing them.

0:32:49 > 0:32:54And I wouldn't expect them to be coming over here for many

0:32:54 > 0:32:58holidays because it would be costing too much.

0:32:58 > 0:33:01It's things like this that will upset me.

0:33:01 > 0:33:08It's difficult because I can understand why they'd be going.

0:33:08 > 0:33:13If it is to give my brother and sisters a better chance,

0:33:13 > 0:33:17but then I still don't want them to go.

0:33:17 > 0:33:20I'd feel like I was being abandoned.

0:33:20 > 0:33:23I think it's not the things you do you regret,

0:33:23 > 0:33:26it's the things you don't do.

0:33:26 > 0:33:28And if that's what they want to do,

0:33:28 > 0:33:30I think they've got to give it a try.

0:33:30 > 0:33:36I don't think it's fair forcing three 16-year-olds to go,

0:33:36 > 0:33:39potentially, against their will.

0:33:39 > 0:33:43It's something I don't really agree with.

0:33:43 > 0:33:45I don't think we're trying to force anyone.

0:33:45 > 0:33:47We're not forcing them to come.

0:33:47 > 0:33:51But they're not my children. I can't keep them here.

0:33:51 > 0:33:56You know, I am going to miss them terribly, and I can't help...

0:33:56 > 0:33:59I have been upset since they have

0:33:59 > 0:34:03really thought about going to Australia.

0:34:03 > 0:34:08DEBBIE: You don't realise how people feel, do you?

0:34:08 > 0:34:13It's such a great family. They're my family.

0:34:13 > 0:34:16And I love them all.

0:34:18 > 0:34:21I love them all so much and for them

0:34:21 > 0:34:26to want to move to the other side of the world, it's just heartbreaking.

0:34:29 > 0:34:31Oh, God! I knew it would be hard, but...

0:34:31 > 0:34:36We're being very selfish. Natalie doesn't want to come and that's understandable.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39What do you do? I know we've got these three to consider as well.

0:34:40 > 0:34:44Do you think that Natalie's right when she says she feels as

0:34:44 > 0:34:47though we're forcing you to come with us?

0:34:47 > 0:34:50No, I don't think you're forcing us.

0:34:50 > 0:34:52I just think you're trying to persuade us.

0:34:52 > 0:34:57We mind Sara, if she stays at ours of a weekend

0:34:57 > 0:35:02and we wouldn't have that week in week out, would we?

0:35:02 > 0:35:04I'm going to find that really hard.

0:35:11 > 0:35:16Seeing their loved ones was a painful experience for the Carrolls,

0:35:16 > 0:35:19but if the life Stuart and Debbie want isn't for everyone in their family,

0:35:19 > 0:35:21their dream could be over for good.

0:35:21 > 0:35:24With their future resting in the balance,

0:35:24 > 0:35:28it's time for the Carrolls to make their final vote.

0:35:28 > 0:35:32It's been an eye-opening week for everyone.

0:35:32 > 0:35:34I think Natalie in the friends and family video

0:35:34 > 0:35:36did use some very evocative terms.

0:35:36 > 0:35:39She thought we were forcing the kids into doing something

0:35:39 > 0:35:41that they perhaps didn't want to do

0:35:41 > 0:35:44and I hadn't thought of it in quite those terms,

0:35:44 > 0:35:46but it is making me think more about

0:35:46 > 0:35:48how much pressure we are putting on the kids.

0:35:48 > 0:35:51Are we trying to push them along too hard to meet our dreams

0:35:51 > 0:35:54and aspirations without taking into account theirs?

0:35:54 > 0:35:57I do feel like we are under a bit of pressure to move.

0:35:57 > 0:35:59I know that it is the dream.

0:35:59 > 0:36:03It's, like, even just by saying that it puts you under pressure

0:36:03 > 0:36:07because I don't want to be the person to, like, ruin their dreams.

0:36:07 > 0:36:11There's a pull and a push between enjoying the lifestyle

0:36:11 > 0:36:16and leaving behind the family and everything we've got at home.

0:36:16 > 0:36:19We are creating a bit of a gap.

0:36:19 > 0:36:23I don't know that we can fill that gap with telephone calls

0:36:23 > 0:36:25and with the occasional visit.

0:36:25 > 0:36:28When Natalie was saying, like, how we are a family

0:36:28 > 0:36:31and we're a massive part of her life,

0:36:31 > 0:36:35that one sentence really showed me that she does actually care.

0:36:35 > 0:36:40I don't think I'd be able to cope without her - not now anyway.

0:36:40 > 0:36:43I would love to make a new life over here

0:36:43 > 0:36:47with Shan, Sophie and Scott, and Stuart of course,

0:36:47 > 0:36:52but I can't sort of stop thinking about Natalie and Sara.

0:36:52 > 0:36:57My dream would be for Natalie and Sara to follow us...

0:36:57 > 0:37:00but I can't make that decision for her.

0:37:01 > 0:37:05Now with their future on the line, it's time to make the last

0:37:05 > 0:37:07crucial decision.

0:37:07 > 0:37:09It's been a pretty incredible week.

0:37:09 > 0:37:12It's been very busy and at the end of that very long week,

0:37:12 > 0:37:15the country that we are going to choose to live in is...

0:37:21 > 0:37:22ALL: Australia! Undecided!

0:37:24 > 0:37:26Have you gone for Australia, mate?

0:37:26 > 0:37:29What's the big wow factor for you?

0:37:29 > 0:37:31Everything. It's just a much nicer place to live.

0:37:31 > 0:37:34What is it that's pulling you into Australia?

0:37:34 > 0:37:37- I don't know.- It's a nice lifestyle and everything,

0:37:37 > 0:37:40but you and me mum seem dead happy out here.

0:37:40 > 0:37:43We don't want you to choose just because we're happy.

0:37:43 > 0:37:45We have to be happy as a family.

0:37:45 > 0:37:49I know but, I want you two to be as happy as, like, we are.

0:37:49 > 0:37:52So I don't want it to just be about us.

0:37:52 > 0:37:54You're going to make me cry in a minute, babe.

0:37:54 > 0:37:57It seems like it could be really good place to live.

0:37:59 > 0:38:01And I'd really enjoy it.

0:38:01 > 0:38:04But I also like the UK as well...

0:38:04 > 0:38:06- So you're still thinking about it. - Yeah.

0:38:06 > 0:38:08We need to go and think about whether or not

0:38:08 > 0:38:12we can really put that distance between the people we love back home.

0:38:17 > 0:38:20The Carrolls' week in Melbourne has shown them

0:38:20 > 0:38:24how difficult a choice it is for any family thinking of moving abroad

0:38:24 > 0:38:26and with strong feelings all round,

0:38:26 > 0:38:29are they any closer to making that final decision?

0:38:29 > 0:38:33The family have been back for six weeks and I've come to meet them.

0:38:35 > 0:38:38As Debbie and Stuart are the ones who have been driving this move,

0:38:38 > 0:38:40I thought I'd speak with them first.

0:38:42 > 0:38:44So what's the next step?

0:38:44 > 0:38:49We've said to the children, we're not planning on going forever,

0:38:49 > 0:38:52let's just try it. Give it a year, two years.

0:38:52 > 0:38:55If we don't like it, we'll come home.

0:38:55 > 0:38:58I just feel if I don't go, I'll always have that regret.

0:38:58 > 0:39:02Basically we're going to wait until the kids have finished their GCSEs,

0:39:02 > 0:39:06and if we can convince them to give it a go, then fantastic,

0:39:06 > 0:39:07we'll be off this year.

0:39:07 > 0:39:10Otherwise I think what we'll probably look to do

0:39:10 > 0:39:13is really let them do their A-levels in the UK...

0:39:13 > 0:39:18And if it has just to be the two of us, then we need to give it a go.

0:39:18 > 0:39:20We'll go because they'll be young adults then.

0:39:20 > 0:39:23They can do what they want to do anyway.

0:39:23 > 0:39:26We've also got to talk about Natalie and little Sara.

0:39:26 > 0:39:30Was that the dream when we started off?

0:39:30 > 0:39:34It was but I suppose from day one, I knew that it was never going

0:39:34 > 0:39:35to be the case.

0:39:35 > 0:39:38Maybe if we get out there, in a year or two she might follow us out,

0:39:38 > 0:39:42having come for a short visit and seeing what it's all about.

0:39:42 > 0:39:44But that's a bit of a pipe-dream right now.

0:39:44 > 0:39:47If we decide to leave it another couple of years,

0:39:47 > 0:39:48it could then be harder again

0:39:48 > 0:39:52because we might not just be leaving one child...

0:39:52 > 0:39:54We could be leaving up to four.

0:39:54 > 0:39:57That's a difficult decision to make, isn't it?

0:39:57 > 0:40:00Debbie, how do you think the girls are feeling now?

0:40:00 > 0:40:01Scott's sold on Australia

0:40:01 > 0:40:04but the girls are the ones with the big question mark.

0:40:04 > 0:40:08I still think that they won't come with us. I'm almost convinced.

0:40:08 > 0:40:14In years to come, they'll... If we don't go, they'll probably look back

0:40:14 > 0:40:17and say, "We should've listened to my mum and dad".

0:40:17 > 0:40:20We should've gone. I feel that I've just got to try it.

0:40:20 > 0:40:22- You don't want to live with regrets. - No.

0:40:22 > 0:40:26And if we go and we don't like it, then we've tried.

0:40:27 > 0:40:30So how do the triplets feel since their return?

0:40:30 > 0:40:32Although the girls didn't vote for Australia,

0:40:32 > 0:40:34they were taken by the experience.

0:40:36 > 0:40:39I thought before we went that I was going to hate it

0:40:39 > 0:40:41cos I didn't want to move in the first place,

0:40:41 > 0:40:45and to be honest, I'm not really fond of hot weather. I prefer the winter.

0:40:45 > 0:40:49But when I got there, I was really surprised about how good it was,

0:40:49 > 0:40:51and I really enjoyed it.

0:40:51 > 0:40:52Australia ticks all the boxes.

0:40:52 > 0:40:53LAUGHS

0:40:53 > 0:40:55You're sold!

0:40:55 > 0:40:58If we could just pick everyone up and take them with us, then I'd move.

0:40:58 > 0:41:00But I don't know.

0:41:00 > 0:41:05Like, it was a brilliant country, and I would love to live there.

0:41:05 > 0:41:09Just with everyone. Because I just don't want to leave everyone.

0:41:14 > 0:41:18In a way, I don't want to move, but like you said, my mum and dad

0:41:18 > 0:41:20have been thinking about this for ages.

0:41:20 > 0:41:25It's become their dream so I don't want to be, like, the person to say,

0:41:25 > 0:41:28"I'm not going", and take that away from them.

0:41:28 > 0:41:31So it's, like, sort of choosing between what I want

0:41:31 > 0:41:34and what they want because I don't want to make them upset

0:41:34 > 0:41:36by saying, "No, I don't want to go".

0:41:36 > 0:41:38It's a joint decision for everybody,

0:41:38 > 0:41:41but it's also a big individual one as well, isn't it?

0:41:41 > 0:41:44Shall we go back and join Mum and Dad?

0:41:44 > 0:41:47The triplets have all been excited by Australia,

0:41:47 > 0:41:50but Sophie and Shan are obviously torn about their future.

0:41:50 > 0:41:54What I'd like to know is have they made their final decision?

0:41:54 > 0:41:57It's been great talking to you all about this experience

0:41:57 > 0:42:01in Australia, but some of you are undecided,

0:42:01 > 0:42:04so I'm going to ask you to vote one more time

0:42:04 > 0:42:05to see if anything's changed.

0:42:10 > 0:42:14Is it going to be life in the UK or Australia?

0:42:23 > 0:42:25GIRLS: UK!

0:42:25 > 0:42:28No surprises there.

0:42:28 > 0:42:31- I feel really bad!- You shouldn't because this is what you feel.

0:42:31 > 0:42:33You can't help the way you feel.

0:42:33 > 0:42:38Best get your exams over with, and then we'll have a chat then.

0:42:38 > 0:42:41Well, you've got a lot on your plate at the moment.

0:42:41 > 0:42:43I hope you get fantastic grades with your exams,

0:42:43 > 0:42:47and we wish you the best of luck with whatever decision you make,

0:42:47 > 0:42:49individually and as a family. Thank you.

0:42:49 > 0:42:51ALL: Thank you.

0:42:53 > 0:42:58Family ties are always the hardest to break and at the moment,

0:42:58 > 0:43:01the Carrolls are going to stay together in the UK.

0:43:01 > 0:43:04Whatever their future holds, we wish them the best.
