0:00:02 > 0:00:05If you believed a better life was waiting for you in another country,
0:00:05 > 0:00:08would you be willing to gamble everything to find it?
0:00:08 > 0:00:12Especially if your family didn't share your dream.
0:00:12 > 0:00:16Tracy Evans has become obsessed with emigrating...
0:00:16 > 0:00:20It's got to the point where I can't even focus on life in this country any more,
0:00:20 > 0:00:22because I don't want to even be in this country any more.
0:00:22 > 0:00:24..but it's pushing her family to the brink.
0:00:24 > 0:00:29All you go on about, all she goes on about, every day, and it does drive me mad.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31It's such a big risk to move to Australia,
0:00:31 > 0:00:33and I'm not sure if I really want to take the risk.
0:00:33 > 0:00:36..and it could lead to heartache.
0:00:36 > 0:00:37I hope you have just one last
0:00:37 > 0:00:41thought about going to Australia.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43I hope you change your mind.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08Every year, over 35,000 of us emigrate to Australia.
0:01:08 > 0:01:11As a country renowned for its beautiful landscapes,
0:01:11 > 0:01:16golden beaches and relaxed lifestyle, it's easy to see why.
0:01:16 > 0:01:19However, leaving behind everything you know can be a lot harder
0:01:19 > 0:01:23than people expect, and nearly a third end up returning home.
0:01:26 > 0:01:29Ahead of the Evans family is a week exploring
0:01:29 > 0:01:32the reality of living in Australia.
0:01:32 > 0:01:35At the end of it they will have to make one of the hardest decisions
0:01:35 > 0:01:39of their lives, whether to stay in the UK, or to move down under.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45After 10,000 miles, and 24 hours in the air,
0:01:45 > 0:01:48the Evans finally get their feet onto Australian soil.
0:01:50 > 0:01:53They might have all been on the same plane,
0:01:53 > 0:01:55but it seems they had very different journeys.
0:01:57 > 0:02:01It was a great flight, it was fine, no worries with the flight.
0:02:01 > 0:02:03I'm very happy - ecstatic.
0:02:03 > 0:02:06Knackering, really. A hard thing to do.
0:02:06 > 0:02:09Sitting on there for 24 hours is not going to happen once or twice
0:02:09 > 0:02:12a year, it would have to be first-class.
0:02:14 > 0:02:16Well, opinion may be divided about the journey,
0:02:16 > 0:02:20but I'm sure they all agree that Perth is a long way from home.
0:02:25 > 0:02:29Back in the UK, the Evans live in leafy Virginia Water in Surrey.
0:02:29 > 0:02:36They are mum Tracy, dad Paul, 16-year-old Liam, Ryan aged 14,
0:02:36 > 0:02:39Keira who is six, and little Aaron who's four.
0:02:44 > 0:02:48Tracy works as a nurse, and Paul is a building labourer.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51With young children to look after, both of them
0:02:51 > 0:02:55can only work part-time, making finances a constant problem.
0:02:55 > 0:02:59Life is really hard in the UK, for all of us at the moment.
0:02:59 > 0:03:02We struggle, life is a struggle, everyday life is a struggle.
0:03:02 > 0:03:05This is a hospital house, erm,
0:03:05 > 0:03:07so it will never be ours,
0:03:07 > 0:03:10but the rent goes up every year, the council tax goes up,
0:03:10 > 0:03:15gas and electricity goes up, wages don't match everything else,
0:03:15 > 0:03:18and you are just literally scrimping and scraping.
0:03:18 > 0:03:22The main point is, financially, where we are living in the UK,
0:03:22 > 0:03:26it's obviously expensive where we are living here, yeah,
0:03:26 > 0:03:29and I think everything is going up here all the time.
0:03:29 > 0:03:31We're always arguing about money, aren't we?
0:03:31 > 0:03:34Silly things, like if you want to go out for a drink
0:03:34 > 0:03:36with your mates, I will be saying, "How much are you taking?
0:03:36 > 0:03:38"Are you taking £20 out of the pot,
0:03:38 > 0:03:41"because that is £20 out of our food money?" or something.
0:03:41 > 0:03:43He should be able to go out with his mates for a drink,
0:03:43 > 0:03:48so it's not the way to live, really.
0:03:52 > 0:03:54After years of struggling,
0:03:54 > 0:03:58Tracy is convinced that Australia is the answer to their problems.
0:03:58 > 0:04:02Australia, for me, has got to the point where it just
0:04:02 > 0:04:05consumes me, it's just all I think about every day,
0:04:05 > 0:04:09and if I could just pack up and go tomorrow, I would just go.
0:04:09 > 0:04:12It's got to the point where I can't even focus on life in this country
0:04:12 > 0:04:17any more, because I don't want to be in this country any more, so, I just...
0:04:17 > 0:04:20It's all you go on about, she goes on about it every day,
0:04:20 > 0:04:22and it does drive me mad.
0:04:24 > 0:04:28Having to think about the needs of children, aged from 4 to 16,
0:04:28 > 0:04:32Tracy can see no other way to give them a better future.
0:04:32 > 0:04:35I think it's sad that you have to go halfway around the world to try
0:04:35 > 0:04:38and give your kids a better life, and I think,
0:04:38 > 0:04:41Australia as a country, and as a lifestyle, has more to
0:04:41 > 0:04:47offer our type of family, than this country ever can at the moment.
0:04:47 > 0:04:51If the kids are going to have a better life...
0:04:51 > 0:04:53more options for their future,
0:04:53 > 0:04:58then that is a massive thing for me, that would be the main thing.
0:04:58 > 0:05:00And it is not just about lifestyle - it is
0:05:00 > 0:05:02also about Aaron's health.
0:05:02 > 0:05:05Although he'll be staying in the UK with his grandparents
0:05:05 > 0:05:09during the trial week, the dry Australian weather could really benefit him.
0:05:09 > 0:05:12He was born with a congenital lung abnormality.
0:05:12 > 0:05:15You always worry when the weather is not too good,
0:05:15 > 0:05:19so obviously the weather out there is a driving factor for Aaron.
0:05:19 > 0:05:24However, not all the children can see the upsides of emigrating.
0:05:24 > 0:05:26I feel a bit nervous and scared,
0:05:26 > 0:05:30because if we do move out there I'll have to start everything fresh.
0:05:30 > 0:05:32I'll have no friends, hardly any family,
0:05:32 > 0:05:35just us that's moved out there,
0:05:35 > 0:05:38and I don't know what to do out there, so...
0:05:39 > 0:05:42When mum gathered us round the table to write all the good
0:05:42 > 0:05:45things and the bad things about Australia, I listed as many
0:05:45 > 0:05:49negative things as I could, because that's all that came into my head.
0:05:49 > 0:05:50It's such a big risk to move to Australia,
0:05:50 > 0:05:53and I'm not sure if I really want to take the risk.
0:05:53 > 0:05:56And it's not just Liam who's filled with doubts.
0:05:56 > 0:05:59Paul knows what he stands to lose.
0:05:59 > 0:06:01One of the main reasons...
0:06:01 > 0:06:04I wouldn't go is for family and friends,
0:06:04 > 0:06:09you know, I am close to my brother, my sister, mum and dad.
0:06:10 > 0:06:14Whereas now I can go and see them, whenever I want, when I'm out
0:06:14 > 0:06:17there, I won't have them there to fall back on, you know.
0:06:19 > 0:06:21The pressure on me I think is massive,
0:06:21 > 0:06:25I do have a lot of sleepless nights,
0:06:25 > 0:06:26I constantly think about it,
0:06:26 > 0:06:29whether I'm at work, or at home,
0:06:29 > 0:06:31it just always plays on my mind,
0:06:31 > 0:06:34because I still don't know what to do.
0:06:36 > 0:06:37As an only child,
0:06:37 > 0:06:41Tracy can't bear to contemplate the heartache involved in emigrating.
0:06:41 > 0:06:44I do have moments when I stop and think
0:06:44 > 0:06:48about the impact it will have on my mum,
0:06:48 > 0:06:52obviously she will be absolutely devastated, erm...
0:06:52 > 0:06:55but I can't dwell on it too long,
0:06:55 > 0:07:01I can't allow myself to think of the impact that it will have, really.
0:07:01 > 0:07:04Rightly or wrongly, I just have to put blinkers on, because I know if I
0:07:04 > 0:07:10dwell on it too much, I would probably never even pack my bags.
0:07:12 > 0:07:15With only one week to make the biggest decision of their lives,
0:07:15 > 0:07:18their entire future could be at stake.
0:07:18 > 0:07:22I want much more from life, I want more than just waking up
0:07:22 > 0:07:25and working out the figures, and plodding through another day,
0:07:25 > 0:07:27and thinking, "God, is this it?"
0:07:27 > 0:07:30There's got to be more than this.
0:07:31 > 0:07:34If I come back and say, "That's it, I'm not going,"
0:07:34 > 0:07:38if I made that decision, I'm not sure where it would leave us,
0:07:38 > 0:07:42really, if I'm honest, because I think she would resent me.
0:07:50 > 0:07:52The Evans are in an agonising position.
0:07:52 > 0:07:56Tracy is convinced that Australia can offer the life they desperately
0:07:56 > 0:08:01seek, but Paul knows just how much they stand to lose by leaving.
0:08:01 > 0:08:05So, could the grass really be greener so far from home?
0:08:05 > 0:08:08The Evans will be spending those seven days in Perth.
0:08:08 > 0:08:11Spread along the coast of Western Australia, it's a busy city,
0:08:11 > 0:08:14with a booming economy, and plenty of outdoor spaces.
0:08:14 > 0:08:18However, it does mean that property costs have also been going up
0:08:18 > 0:08:20faster than most of Australia.
0:08:20 > 0:08:22Could the Evans struggle to afford a house big
0:08:22 > 0:08:24enough for a family of six?
0:08:24 > 0:08:26Home for the week is this three- bedroom
0:08:26 > 0:08:28property in the Carlisle area.
0:08:31 > 0:08:32In we come.
0:08:34 > 0:08:37- Oh!- Oh, this is lovely.
0:08:37 > 0:08:38That's not bad, actually, is it.
0:08:38 > 0:08:40Oh, it's got an en-suite, look at that!
0:08:40 > 0:08:44Well, it's definitely made a good first impression on everyone.
0:08:44 > 0:08:46Oh, look, Keira!
0:08:47 > 0:08:49Oh, it's beautiful!
0:08:49 > 0:08:51Look at that telly!
0:08:51 > 0:08:53It's all right, isn't it?
0:08:53 > 0:08:56This is nice.
0:08:56 > 0:08:57That's lovely.
0:08:57 > 0:09:00Oh, look, Keira.
0:09:00 > 0:09:01It is nice, yeah.
0:09:03 > 0:09:04Oh, that's fab!
0:09:04 > 0:09:06So, there you go.
0:09:06 > 0:09:07This cushion's got hair!
0:09:07 > 0:09:09Yes, it's got hair!
0:09:09 > 0:09:10SHE LAUGHS
0:09:10 > 0:09:14Unfortunately, the outside space is far from ideal.
0:09:14 > 0:09:16It's not much.
0:09:16 > 0:09:18There's no space, really, is there?
0:09:18 > 0:09:21I wanted a swimming pool.
0:09:21 > 0:09:25It hasn't got a swimming pool, darling, has it?
0:09:29 > 0:09:31And once the family have had a chance to settle in,
0:09:31 > 0:09:34everyone seems to be changing their tune.
0:09:34 > 0:09:37It's not really what I expected, at all.
0:09:37 > 0:09:39Bit disappointed in the house, but, you know...
0:09:39 > 0:09:42You've got to prove this week and show that you could live here.
0:09:42 > 0:09:43Yeah...
0:09:43 > 0:09:47so far, its UK one, Australia nil.
0:09:50 > 0:09:53This is not a good start for Tracy's dream, and Paul is
0:09:53 > 0:09:57already concerned about whether they could even afford to make the move.
0:09:57 > 0:10:00If it doesn't work out financially, then obviously, we will not be able to do it,
0:10:00 > 0:10:03there's no point in coming to the other side of the world
0:10:03 > 0:10:06when we're going to be in the same position where we are now.
0:10:11 > 0:10:13Back in the UK, the Evans live in this detached
0:10:13 > 0:10:16house in Virginia Water, near Woking.
0:10:16 > 0:10:18It's a spacious, five-bedroom property that they
0:10:18 > 0:10:22rent from Tracy's hospital for £1,200 a month.
0:10:24 > 0:10:27This house has plenty of space for all the family.
0:10:28 > 0:10:32They would be looking for a similar sized property to rent in Australia.
0:10:33 > 0:10:35And there are a couple of features that would make
0:10:35 > 0:10:38the idea of emigrating a little more appealing.
0:10:38 > 0:10:43I love the style of Australian houses, that they're all kind of on one level, big and open planned.
0:10:43 > 0:10:45We just want space, really.
0:10:45 > 0:10:48A barbecue area, a pool would be absolutely fantastic,
0:10:48 > 0:10:52of course it would, but it's got to be near schools, near shops, so...
0:10:55 > 0:10:59Today will give the Evans a taste of Perth's rental market.
0:10:59 > 0:11:01We will show them the three options based on what
0:11:01 > 0:11:05they want from their ideal home, and what they can afford.
0:11:05 > 0:11:07After seeing for themselves what's on offer,
0:11:07 > 0:11:10they'll find out the cost of each of the houses.
0:11:11 > 0:11:14The first house is in Yanchep, north of Perth.
0:11:14 > 0:11:17It's a modern area, popular with young families,
0:11:17 > 0:11:20but being over 20 miles from the main hospital,
0:11:20 > 0:11:22it would mean a long commute for Tracy.
0:11:23 > 0:11:26This three-bed property is a typical, modern,
0:11:26 > 0:11:29Aussie style house, but will it suit the Evans?
0:11:31 > 0:11:33This is really nice.
0:11:35 > 0:11:37That does look all right out there.
0:11:37 > 0:11:41Oh, this is nice. Look at that telly, Ryan.
0:11:41 > 0:11:43OK. Living room.
0:11:43 > 0:11:44Oh, wow!
0:11:45 > 0:11:47- This is lovely.- It's nice.
0:11:47 > 0:11:50It's a really good sized bedroom.
0:11:50 > 0:11:52Lovely en-suite, yeah.
0:11:52 > 0:11:55Let's have a look in here, Keira.
0:11:55 > 0:11:58Oh, wow, yeah, now this is nice.
0:11:58 > 0:12:00- Oh, my God.- This is nice.
0:12:00 > 0:12:01It's a hit.
0:12:01 > 0:12:03There's plenty of living space,
0:12:03 > 0:12:06and the clean modern lines seem to be to everyone's taste.
0:12:06 > 0:12:09This is proper spacious, isn't it?
0:12:09 > 0:12:11It is nice, this.
0:12:11 > 0:12:12Another sitting area, look.
0:12:12 > 0:12:14Is that nice there?
0:12:16 > 0:12:18Oh, wow, Keira, look, this is fab.
0:12:18 > 0:12:23The bedrooms are a good size, but Tracy has spotted one major fault.
0:12:23 > 0:12:25- Oh, now we have a problem.- What?
0:12:25 > 0:12:30Well, problem as in...you would have to get two of these in here,
0:12:30 > 0:12:33and he doesn't want to share.
0:12:33 > 0:12:35- Yeah.- Yeah.
0:12:35 > 0:12:36Pretty much.
0:12:36 > 0:12:38It wouldn't happen.
0:12:38 > 0:12:42No, it wouldn't happen, because Liam needs his own room.
0:12:42 > 0:12:46It's a nice house, but this room has ruined it.
0:12:46 > 0:12:49If Liam is a bit too old to be sharing a bedroom,
0:12:49 > 0:12:52will they have to stretch their budget to a bigger house?
0:12:52 > 0:12:55Luckily, Paul has spotted a simple solution.
0:12:55 > 0:12:57What about the rumpus room at the front?
0:12:57 > 0:13:01There are two TV rooms, you've got one here, and one at the front.
0:13:01 > 0:13:04Turn that one, that's a big enough room.
0:13:04 > 0:13:06That could be my room.
0:13:06 > 0:13:09And where the open-plan kitchen is, they've got a settee there,
0:13:09 > 0:13:11you could easily get another in there,
0:13:11 > 0:13:14and that's your main living room/ dining room/kitchen.
0:13:14 > 0:13:16And from there that would work.
0:13:16 > 0:13:19I'd have that, I wouldn't mind having any of these bedrooms.
0:13:19 > 0:13:21So, basically, this house is doable.
0:13:21 > 0:13:24OK, sleeping problem solved.
0:13:24 > 0:13:26But what about the small garden?
0:13:27 > 0:13:31You see, I like the fact that it's low-maintenance...
0:13:31 > 0:13:34This house certainly doesn't need an estate agent,
0:13:34 > 0:13:36Tracy's doing a great job selling it.
0:13:36 > 0:13:38- There's no grass...- Yeah, that's a good thing.
0:13:38 > 0:13:41..because we're not gardeners, and what's that?
0:13:41 > 0:13:43Is that a hot tub, it's just fab.
0:13:43 > 0:13:46We're not overlooked.
0:13:46 > 0:13:49You don't feel as if you're on top of each other.
0:13:49 > 0:13:50Is there a swimming pool?
0:13:50 > 0:13:52You're sitting on it.
0:13:54 > 0:13:58So what's the final verdict?
0:13:59 > 0:14:02- Sold.- Sold.
0:14:02 > 0:14:06Tracy's sales pitch may have done the trick, but no-one knows the price.
0:14:06 > 0:14:10Could they afford to rent this house on their £1,200 budget?
0:14:12 > 0:14:15Right, are you ready?
0:14:15 > 0:14:17Do it.
0:14:17 > 0:14:18Do you want to have a look?
0:14:18 > 0:14:20I think it's over budget, do it.
0:14:20 > 0:14:23Three, two, one.
0:14:23 > 0:14:25- £970 per month.- No way!
0:14:25 > 0:14:28- That is well within our budget.- That is good.
0:14:28 > 0:14:29Wow, I'm well chuffed.
0:14:29 > 0:14:31All within budget -
0:14:31 > 0:14:35actually, under budget, leaves us some money in the pot.
0:14:35 > 0:14:37That's a great start.
0:14:37 > 0:14:39Everyone can see themselves living here,
0:14:39 > 0:14:43and the rent is £300 less than they are paying in the UK.
0:14:43 > 0:14:46Has Tracy achieved her dream already?
0:14:46 > 0:14:47Let's pack!
0:14:47 > 0:14:50Well, I don't know, yet.
0:14:50 > 0:14:55Nice try, Tracy, but I don't think it's going to be that simple.
0:14:55 > 0:14:58Maybe the second house can add more weight to her case.
0:14:58 > 0:15:02It's in the area of Butler, nearer to central Perth, it's also
0:15:02 > 0:15:06closer to beaches, shops and parks, ideal for the Evans household.
0:15:06 > 0:15:09Oh, this is nice, look.
0:15:09 > 0:15:13This four-bedroom house should have enough rooms for the family, but
0:15:13 > 0:15:17Tracy isn't wasting any time she's straight in with a sales pitch.
0:15:17 > 0:15:18Oh, wow!
0:15:18 > 0:15:21Lovely size, you could stick a couple of barstools there,
0:15:21 > 0:15:24and then you got this wall here, which kind of separates it,
0:15:24 > 0:15:28so you've got your living room, living area, open plan, it's lovely.
0:15:28 > 0:15:32Tracy really is determined to convince everyone that it
0:15:32 > 0:15:34could work for them.
0:15:34 > 0:15:37And again it's a great size, the wardrobes are built-in,
0:15:37 > 0:15:40everything you need's in here, bed, that's fine.
0:15:40 > 0:15:44However, not everyone is seeing this house in quite the same light.
0:15:44 > 0:15:48It's a bit cramped compared to the other house we've seen...
0:15:48 > 0:15:52Yeah, for these two, they would want bigger, wouldn't they?
0:15:52 > 0:15:54Keira and Aaron, fine.
0:15:54 > 0:15:57- The size is a bit small, for me anyway.- OK.
0:15:57 > 0:16:01Come on, then, Keira, let's go and see what else we can see.
0:16:01 > 0:16:06But Tracy isn't deterred. Perhaps the garden can change Liam's mind...
0:16:06 > 0:16:08Oh, this is lovely.
0:16:08 > 0:16:10Oh, that's fab.
0:16:11 > 0:16:13..or make matters worse.
0:16:13 > 0:16:16It a bit small, it's a bit cramped.
0:16:16 > 0:16:19Why do you think it's cramped?
0:16:19 > 0:16:23There's just so much stuff going on at once, it's weird.
0:16:23 > 0:16:26I don't know, it might be the furniture...
0:16:26 > 0:16:27I do agree...
0:16:27 > 0:16:29It feels like it's smaller than the other one.
0:16:29 > 0:16:35- There seems to be more here, but it's all cramped in.- Yes.
0:16:35 > 0:16:37Despite Tracy's best efforts,
0:16:37 > 0:16:40the rest of the family have not been taken by this house.
0:16:40 > 0:16:43Will the cost be another blow for Tracy's hopes?
0:16:43 > 0:16:45- Time to find out.- Ready?
0:16:45 > 0:16:47- Three, two...- You ready?
0:16:47 > 0:16:48..one.
0:16:52 > 0:16:56That's £1,100 a month, only just in budget,
0:16:56 > 0:17:00and Tracy's changed her tack on selling this house.
0:17:00 > 0:17:04I like this area. I really like this area.
0:17:04 > 0:17:05Mum, I'm not being funny,
0:17:05 > 0:17:09you can't pick your house just on the location...
0:17:09 > 0:17:13Ryan, it's location, location, location.
0:17:13 > 0:17:15Tracy has tried every tactic,
0:17:15 > 0:17:17but this house has not won over her family.
0:17:17 > 0:17:20Can the final property turn things around for her?
0:17:21 > 0:17:25Also in the area of Butler, it's a little closer to the beach
0:17:25 > 0:17:27and main shopping area than the last house,
0:17:27 > 0:17:30which could make it more appealing, but also more costly.
0:17:32 > 0:17:33Wow!
0:17:33 > 0:17:35Yeah, I'm not sure if we can afford this one, Keira,
0:17:35 > 0:17:38- it looks beautiful, doesn't it?- Yeah, this one could be...
0:17:38 > 0:17:40It's a large, detached house with the modern look Paul
0:17:40 > 0:17:44and Tracy want, but most crucially will it be big enough?
0:17:47 > 0:17:49Oh, look! Keira, let's start here.
0:17:49 > 0:17:52- Oh, my God.- Wow!
0:17:52 > 0:17:54Oh, this is beautiful.
0:17:54 > 0:17:56This is massive.
0:17:56 > 0:17:58Oh, wow, look!
0:17:58 > 0:18:01A walk-in wardrobe each,
0:18:01 > 0:18:02his and hers sinks.
0:18:02 > 0:18:04Well, this would be our room, obviously.
0:18:04 > 0:18:06Oh, my God, look at that shower!
0:18:06 > 0:18:07It's...
0:18:07 > 0:18:08This is stunning.
0:18:08 > 0:18:13It's a great start, but now it's Tracy's turn to be unsure.
0:18:13 > 0:18:16This is got, "You can't afford it," written all over it.
0:18:20 > 0:18:23With four bedrooms, there's enough for a family of six,
0:18:23 > 0:18:25but are they large enough for Liam?
0:18:25 > 0:18:31This would be a perfect size - not to big, not too small, so...
0:18:31 > 0:18:33it's a good house.
0:18:33 > 0:18:35Good. Good!
0:18:35 > 0:18:37- I think it's more than good...- It's amazing!
0:18:37 > 0:18:40- It's spot on.- It's 20 out of 10.
0:18:42 > 0:18:44OK.
0:18:44 > 0:18:46Oh my God!
0:18:46 > 0:18:48I'm totally speechless.
0:18:52 > 0:18:55This house is certainly getting top marks,
0:18:55 > 0:18:58and there's one last room that could make it a winner.
0:18:58 > 0:19:00Oh, my life!
0:19:00 > 0:19:03Oh, my God, you've got another room.
0:19:03 > 0:19:04I want to know what that is.
0:19:04 > 0:19:06That's a projector room.
0:19:06 > 0:19:09It looks like the Evans have landed in their dream house,
0:19:09 > 0:19:12however, Paul isn't getting carried away.
0:19:12 > 0:19:15I think it's a house we can only dream of, really.
0:19:16 > 0:19:21Everything is just too good for us.
0:19:21 > 0:19:23Basically, too good for us.
0:19:23 > 0:19:27But Tracy is not giving up her dream that easily.
0:19:27 > 0:19:32I would work every overtime shift that was going if it meant me
0:19:32 > 0:19:36and my family could live in a house like this, totally.
0:19:36 > 0:19:39You've got to admire Tracy's determination to
0:19:39 > 0:19:41give her family a better life in Australia,
0:19:41 > 0:19:44but this is the only house they've all agreed on.
0:19:44 > 0:19:46If it's beyond their budget,
0:19:46 > 0:19:49could it spell the end for Tracy's hopes of emigrating?
0:19:51 > 0:19:54It all depends on the turn of the final card.
0:20:02 > 0:20:03Turn it over, Keira.
0:20:04 > 0:20:05Oh!
0:20:05 > 0:20:072,100?
0:20:07 > 0:20:09Oh, my God!
0:20:09 > 0:20:14That's £1,350 per month, just over their budget.
0:20:14 > 0:20:19This is £150 more a month than what we've got at home, that's all.
0:20:19 > 0:20:23It's bang on the top end of our budget, so this house is doable,
0:20:23 > 0:20:29it's not a dream house, it's a house we could have when we moved over.
0:20:29 > 0:20:30We have to leave this house.
0:20:30 > 0:20:33So, the dream house could be within their reach,
0:20:33 > 0:20:36if Tracy can find the right job.
0:20:36 > 0:20:40So, have the Evans been won over by Perth properties?
0:20:40 > 0:20:42The first house could accommodate the family
0:20:42 > 0:20:45with some creative use of the rooms.
0:20:45 > 0:20:48The second house was just a bit too small and cramped,
0:20:48 > 0:20:51despite Tracy's best sales talk.
0:20:51 > 0:20:55But the third house, definitely fell into their dream home category,
0:20:55 > 0:20:58and could be affordable.
0:20:58 > 0:21:01So, is the move off to a winning start,
0:21:01 > 0:21:04or will it be a vote to stay at home in the UK?
0:21:04 > 0:21:08Based on the three properties that we've seen today, our vote goes to...
0:21:12 > 0:21:15- ALL:- Australia!
0:21:15 > 0:21:17Woo hoo!
0:21:18 > 0:21:20Good thing!
0:21:20 > 0:21:23That is just on the properties!
0:21:23 > 0:21:26- Don't get too carried away! - Yeah, OK, but it's a start.
0:21:29 > 0:21:32After finding an affordable dream house,
0:21:32 > 0:21:36Tracy could hardly have hoped for a better start to the week.
0:21:36 > 0:21:38And if Perth's lifestyle is as attractive to the Evans,
0:21:38 > 0:21:41it would be another big step towards her ultimate goal.
0:21:43 > 0:21:47Back home, there's one thing Paul and the boys can't do without.
0:21:47 > 0:21:52Football is what connects our family together, I mean, we watch it on TV,
0:21:52 > 0:21:56we play it, we go out weekdays, we go and watch it, it's what we do.
0:21:56 > 0:22:01Football is big for me and my brother.
0:22:01 > 0:22:05The boys both said if they can't find a football club out there they don't want to go.
0:22:05 > 0:22:06They feel that strongly about it,
0:22:06 > 0:22:10they have to be able to do their sports and we need to get them into a football club.
0:22:10 > 0:22:12Their lives basically revolve around football.
0:22:12 > 0:22:14- Hi, guys!- Hiya.
0:22:14 > 0:22:18So, to find that what is on offer for football fanatics,
0:22:18 > 0:22:20they've come to scout a local club.
0:22:20 > 0:22:24Coach Phil moved here 17 years ago, and he's got good news.
0:22:26 > 0:22:28There's plenty of football.
0:22:28 > 0:22:33This is what they were worried about, that they would come over here and...
0:22:33 > 0:22:37When I came to Australia the only thing I missed was the soccer.
0:22:37 > 0:22:42But now, we have all the games on, so, you'll never miss your soccer.
0:22:42 > 0:22:43Who do you support?
0:22:43 > 0:22:45- Arsenal.- Man United.
0:22:46 > 0:22:49That's just the result they were looking for,
0:22:49 > 0:22:51except I think Ryan would rather be wearing red.
0:22:51 > 0:22:53Go!
0:22:56 > 0:22:58And while he's put through his paces, Tracy and Alan get
0:22:58 > 0:23:02more good news from another expat family on the touchline.
0:23:03 > 0:23:07The pitch never freezes up, you're not standing with a big jacket on.
0:23:07 > 0:23:09Yeah, you're not waiting for that phone call on Sunday saying,
0:23:09 > 0:23:11"Match cancelled - iced over."
0:23:11 > 0:23:13You don't get any cancelled?
0:23:13 > 0:23:16- No, never, we've been three years now...- Three years?
0:23:16 > 0:23:19..and our kids have settled right in, and they came over as teenagers.
0:23:19 > 0:23:22There just seems so much out here to do for the kids, doesn't there?
0:23:22 > 0:23:24Yes, there is.
0:23:33 > 0:23:36But moving to Australia isn't just about the boys being able to
0:23:36 > 0:23:38play football.
0:23:38 > 0:23:42Paul and Tracy would love to spend more time together as a family.
0:23:42 > 0:23:45So, today, they're off to visit Perth's Kings Park.
0:23:45 > 0:23:47It's the world's biggest inner-city park,
0:23:47 > 0:23:51and a great way to experience the scale of Australia for free.
0:23:51 > 0:23:52It's lovely, isn't it?!
0:23:53 > 0:23:55Come on, guys!
0:23:55 > 0:23:57Oh, look - a kookaburra!
0:23:57 > 0:23:58Oh, wow, Keira, look!
0:23:58 > 0:24:01Oh, yeah... Don't they make funny noises?
0:24:01 > 0:24:03Oh, yeah, look, Keira!
0:24:03 > 0:24:05Look at the tree.
0:24:05 > 0:24:08Halfway up the tree, where mummy's finger is.
0:24:08 > 0:24:10Yes, I've seen it!
0:24:10 > 0:24:13As usual, Tracy is quick to point out the positives.
0:24:13 > 0:24:14I just think it's absolutely stunning,
0:24:14 > 0:24:17I just said to the kids, you know, it's even the sort
0:24:17 > 0:24:19of place they could come after school,
0:24:19 > 0:24:22or at the weekends with a blanket, chill,
0:24:22 > 0:24:25relax or even do their homework, it's so peaceful and quiet.
0:24:25 > 0:24:28And it's really winning over the rest of the family.
0:24:30 > 0:24:33I don't think we've ever done something like this,
0:24:33 > 0:24:38I don't think we've ever gone out as a family and sat down.
0:24:38 > 0:24:42Every day, I think we could here, cos of what there is...
0:24:42 > 0:24:45and the space...
0:24:45 > 0:24:47Oh, look, look at that view!
0:24:47 > 0:24:48It's beautiful, isn't it?
0:24:48 > 0:24:49Look down there now!
0:24:49 > 0:24:51Isn't it beautiful, Keira?
0:24:51 > 0:24:55I haven't been that positive about the move up until now, I'm starting
0:24:55 > 0:25:00to see that the move, for me, and all of us, would be a good thing.
0:25:10 > 0:25:15This is what I imagined Australia to be, the outdoor life,
0:25:15 > 0:25:19things to do with the kids, cheap things to do with the kids,
0:25:19 > 0:25:21family time, we'd never do this.
0:25:23 > 0:25:27So, after sampling just a little of what is on offer,
0:25:27 > 0:25:31has everyone been convinced by the Australian lifestyle?
0:25:32 > 0:25:35Based on our day out, and my day with the family,
0:25:35 > 0:25:37our vote cast goes to...
0:25:43 > 0:25:44Australia!
0:25:44 > 0:25:46Australia!
0:25:46 > 0:25:47Australia.
0:25:47 > 0:25:49Liam, why you, Liam?
0:25:49 > 0:25:52I thought you would go UK.
0:25:52 > 0:25:54I thought YOU would go UK.
0:25:54 > 0:25:56Based on how nice it is out here,
0:25:56 > 0:25:58it would be Australia, without a doubt.
0:25:58 > 0:26:00There's just absolutely no comparison,
0:26:00 > 0:26:02so, no choice, it had to be Australia.
0:26:02 > 0:26:03What about you, Keira?
0:26:03 > 0:26:05I like the weather.
0:26:06 > 0:26:10This is just the result Tracy hoped for, however, despite
0:26:10 > 0:26:16the unanimous vote, Liam and Paul are still far from certain about moving.
0:26:16 > 0:26:20I would find it hard to actually move out here, cos...
0:26:20 > 0:26:25it's a weird and different lifestyle to what I'm normally used to,
0:26:25 > 0:26:30and it's going to be quite hard for me to fit in here.
0:26:30 > 0:26:35The pressure's on me - it's going to be a hard decision to make.
0:26:35 > 0:26:38Tracy's going to be over the moon right now, but I think
0:26:38 > 0:26:42at the same time, I think she knows, it's not a done deal, yet,
0:26:42 > 0:26:44there's still a long way to go.
0:26:47 > 0:26:52Enjoying the Perth lifestyle was a ray of sunshine for the Evans,
0:26:52 > 0:26:55but Paul and Liam's' worries cast a shadow on the day.
0:26:55 > 0:26:57Everything now rests
0:26:57 > 0:27:00on Tracy being able to find good work opportunities.
0:27:02 > 0:27:06In the UK, Tracy works as a nurse and Paul is a building labourer.
0:27:06 > 0:27:10Both work part-time, and struggle to make ends meet.
0:27:10 > 0:27:13I have a little financial book, and you need so much each week
0:27:13 > 0:27:16to pay this and pay that, and you know,
0:27:16 > 0:27:17one day off with Paul
0:27:17 > 0:27:20and it just mucks up that money that you've got
0:27:20 > 0:27:22coming in for that week - it's not the way to be, just grey hairs,
0:27:22 > 0:27:25every week over money.
0:27:25 > 0:27:27As the main visa applicant,
0:27:27 > 0:27:30it will be down to Tracy to bring in the bacon.
0:27:30 > 0:27:33Paul will be at home in charge of childcare.
0:27:33 > 0:27:36For the first five, six months, I'd be looking after Aaron, and
0:27:36 > 0:27:42then, yes, obviously looking to get into work, once he starts school.
0:27:42 > 0:27:45We've arranged for Tracy to spend the day at Joondalup Hospital,
0:27:45 > 0:27:48to give her a taste of working life in Australia,
0:27:48 > 0:27:52and she's already feeling the pressure.
0:27:52 > 0:27:56I'm feeling very nervous about work in Australia
0:27:56 > 0:27:58and going to find out about it.
0:27:58 > 0:28:01Excited at the same time, but everything depends on work,
0:28:01 > 0:28:06because I'd be the only earner for when we come over here -
0:28:06 > 0:28:09everything rides on the job.
0:28:12 > 0:28:14- Hi!- Hi, I'm Tracy.
0:28:14 > 0:28:17Tracy is met by Lisa and Aoife,
0:28:17 > 0:28:20both nurses who have also emigrated from Britain.
0:28:23 > 0:28:27So, this is the high dependency unit, and we've actually only been
0:28:27 > 0:28:33open for nearly four weeks, so do you want to come in and have a look.
0:28:33 > 0:28:35It's fabulous.
0:28:35 > 0:28:40And again, all brand-new equipment, all individual rooms.
0:28:40 > 0:28:42Is this the sort of thing that you would have expected?
0:28:42 > 0:28:45No, it's exceeded what I expected.
0:28:45 > 0:28:48They are just beautiful hospitals, aren't they?
0:28:48 > 0:28:50They're just unbelievable, it's like you said,
0:28:50 > 0:28:53you have got state-of-the-art equipment, they are just...
0:28:53 > 0:28:56they just look so brand-new, and clean,
0:28:56 > 0:28:59and they are just stunning hospitals.
0:28:59 > 0:29:02Even walking down the corridor was a pleasure. They are amazing.
0:29:02 > 0:29:03Yes, we are very, very lucky.
0:29:03 > 0:29:06This is a promising start for Tracy.
0:29:08 > 0:29:12In the meantime, Paul and the children are exploring the area.
0:29:12 > 0:29:16They know how much is riding on Tracy finding well-paid work.
0:29:16 > 0:29:19Mum would be very nervous about going into this new job,
0:29:19 > 0:29:26as it's a new environment, new people, and basically...
0:29:26 > 0:29:28she doesn't want to let us down.
0:29:28 > 0:29:32She doesn't want to let herself down,
0:29:32 > 0:29:37she wants to just prove to everyone that this is the right move.
0:29:37 > 0:29:39The salary is a big thing for us,
0:29:39 > 0:29:44cos what she thinks she could earn might be totally
0:29:44 > 0:29:47different from what she's actually offered,
0:29:47 > 0:29:49and that is massive for us and obviously for making the move,
0:29:49 > 0:29:52so it's a massive thing for me, because I'm not prepared to
0:29:52 > 0:29:55make the move if we're just going to be struggling.
0:29:55 > 0:29:57It doesn't make sense, to me,
0:29:57 > 0:29:59because you're giving up a lot of things,
0:29:59 > 0:30:03back in the UK just to move to the other side of the world, and struggle.
0:30:05 > 0:30:08The tour is over and Tracy is keen to get to the nitty-gritty.
0:30:10 > 0:30:13What's the job availability like, say, in a hospital like this,
0:30:13 > 0:30:15are there plenty of jobs going?
0:30:15 > 0:30:18Joondalup is expanding,
0:30:18 > 0:30:23so, there are always opportunities within a growing hospital.
0:30:23 > 0:30:28We do try and recruit nurses here, because we need them.
0:30:28 > 0:30:33What would be the starting salary for a new nurse coming over from the UK?
0:30:35 > 0:30:40I think it's around the 66-67,000 Australian dollars...
0:30:41 > 0:30:45but then you've got, there are other things such as your shift allowance,
0:30:45 > 0:30:48that would all be added on.
0:30:48 > 0:30:51I must admit, that's a lot more, than I thought it would be,
0:30:51 > 0:30:53I thought starting nurses would be
0:30:53 > 0:30:59on about 50-55,000 dollars a year, so that's a good starting....
0:30:59 > 0:31:02And they do recognise your experience that you've heard before,
0:31:02 > 0:31:05so if you've been qualified for a while,
0:31:05 > 0:31:09they will actually give you a salary according to how long
0:31:09 > 0:31:11you've been qualified,
0:31:11 > 0:31:14rather than your experience within that certain field.
0:31:14 > 0:31:16You would never go home now?
0:31:16 > 0:31:18I would never say never,
0:31:18 > 0:31:22but I love it here, my family loves it here,
0:31:22 > 0:31:23my children love it here,
0:31:23 > 0:31:26and if I went home I'd probably have to go on my own,
0:31:26 > 0:31:29so it's not an option.
0:31:29 > 0:31:32We love the lifestyle out here, it's all about family.
0:31:32 > 0:31:35You work, and you work hard, which is good,
0:31:35 > 0:31:39but when you're on your downtime, it's time to put the feet up and
0:31:39 > 0:31:45relax, and it's very much outdoor living, and it's all about family.
0:31:45 > 0:31:47You finish work and go to the beach.
0:31:47 > 0:31:50Yes. Fantastic.
0:31:50 > 0:31:52Very reassuring.
0:31:52 > 0:31:54Thank you.
0:31:54 > 0:31:57It's all good, but with Paul having to stay at home, it would
0:31:57 > 0:32:00mean Tracy having to work full-time, and perhaps doing overtime.
0:32:00 > 0:32:03Is that a sacrifice she is prepared to make?
0:32:03 > 0:32:07Based on my experience today, my vote goes to...
0:32:11 > 0:32:13Australia!
0:32:13 > 0:32:15I think we all knew that was coming!
0:32:15 > 0:32:17The wages are a great bonus,
0:32:17 > 0:32:21because I found out today that I can potentially earn a lot more
0:32:21 > 0:32:24here in Australia as a nurse full-time,
0:32:24 > 0:32:27than I actually could back home in the UK,
0:32:27 > 0:32:29and I know Paul will be really pleased,
0:32:29 > 0:32:33because the wage thing is obviously a huge issue for us.
0:32:34 > 0:32:37Today has really been Tracy's day,
0:32:37 > 0:32:40and she's itching to share the news with Paul.
0:32:40 > 0:32:42All right?
0:32:42 > 0:32:44- Yes.- How d'you get on?
0:32:44 > 0:32:46Really, really well.
0:32:46 > 0:32:49- Was it?- It was absolutely fantastic.
0:32:49 > 0:32:51There are plenty of jobs available...
0:32:51 > 0:32:52Oh, they do?
0:32:52 > 0:32:56..wage is about 66-67,000,
0:32:56 > 0:32:59on top of that you've also got lates, nights, weekends,
0:32:59 > 0:33:03there's plenty of opportunities for overtime, the hospitals are just
0:33:03 > 0:33:09outstanding, they're just beautiful, it was lovely, absolutely lovely.
0:33:09 > 0:33:10That's really good, then, isn't it?
0:33:10 > 0:33:12It was really, really good.
0:33:12 > 0:33:15I'm surprised. Would you rather have this job here than...
0:33:17 > 0:33:22I would have to say I would love to work at that hospital, it would be
0:33:22 > 0:33:28the sort of place I would need to go to, leaving what I've left behind.
0:33:31 > 0:33:36Tracy's news has her all but ready to pack her bags for Oz,
0:33:36 > 0:33:40but Paul still needs convincing that things aren't too good to be true.
0:33:40 > 0:33:42Finding out if they really can afford to
0:33:42 > 0:33:46live in Australia could be the reality check everybody needs.
0:33:47 > 0:33:51Looking at the household budget isn't the children's idea of fun...
0:33:51 > 0:33:53- Are you ready to go, Shorts?- Yeah. - Come on, then.
0:33:53 > 0:33:56..so they are off to play in the sunshine,
0:33:56 > 0:33:59while mum and dad get to grips with some serious sums.
0:34:01 > 0:34:03We've prepared a table,
0:34:03 > 0:34:07comparing day-to-day living costs in the UK with those in Australia.
0:34:07 > 0:34:09So how do they add up?
0:34:11 > 0:34:14Right, shopping list.
0:34:14 > 0:34:15And, as usual,
0:34:15 > 0:34:18Tracy's leaning towards the positives of Aussie living.
0:34:18 > 0:34:24Cheaper, cheaper, cheaper, cheaper...
0:34:24 > 0:34:28Hold on, I'm sure Australian living costs are higher.
0:34:28 > 0:34:30That one is cheaper, ketchup's cheaper.
0:34:30 > 0:34:33Look, it's at the bottom, you've got... All right?
0:34:33 > 0:34:35Yeah, you've got the UK...
0:34:35 > 0:34:39£123,
0:34:39 > 0:34:41and then Australia, 170.
0:34:41 > 0:34:43Well spotted, Paul.
0:34:43 > 0:34:46That's nearly £50 a month extra on food.
0:34:46 > 0:34:48So, what about the other costs?
0:34:48 > 0:34:53At the moment, they pay £1,200 rent per month at home.
0:34:53 > 0:34:55Right, properties, do you want to work it out...
0:34:55 > 0:34:57- We'll work it out on property three...- OK.
0:34:57 > 0:35:01..and then we can always look at the property round about.
0:35:01 > 0:35:04Yes, because we'd be quite happy to live in something like property one.
0:35:04 > 0:35:06OK.
0:35:06 > 0:35:08Due to the demand for nurses,
0:35:08 > 0:35:12Tracy's job could entitle the family to extra benefits.
0:35:12 > 0:35:15But will those make emigrating affordable?
0:35:17 > 0:35:20Yeah, yeah, oh, right, they've taken that into account.
0:35:20 > 0:35:26So we're actually £615 a month better off in Australia.
0:35:26 > 0:35:28And we get a tan.
0:35:28 > 0:35:31And that's been done on the most expensive property.
0:35:31 > 0:35:33Yes, I'm shocked.
0:35:33 > 0:35:35And this is just based on me working.
0:35:35 > 0:35:37You know, when Aaron goes to school out here,
0:35:37 > 0:35:39if you then wanted to go and find work,
0:35:39 > 0:35:44- we've then got two incomes coming in, we're potentially laughing.- Yeah.
0:35:44 > 0:35:46Because my wages is paying all of this,
0:35:46 > 0:35:51- so whatever you earn, is play money...- Extra.
0:35:51 > 0:35:53That's great news for Tracy.
0:35:53 > 0:35:55The Evans can afford the house of their dreams,
0:35:55 > 0:35:58and still be financially better off in Australia.
0:35:58 > 0:36:04I knew, at the end of the day, that the whole dream would have ended on
0:36:04 > 0:36:09this one piece of paper quite easily, and it's just ignited it instead...
0:36:10 > 0:36:13- So, it's all good.- It's all good.
0:36:13 > 0:36:15Shall we move here?
0:36:18 > 0:36:22I thought all along that Tracy was not lying, but just living in
0:36:22 > 0:36:25her little fantasy world,
0:36:25 > 0:36:27but this has just made it more reality, now.
0:36:27 > 0:36:31I've only got to get over one other obstacle, now,
0:36:31 > 0:36:33which is leaving my family.
0:36:33 > 0:36:37So, with worries about leaving family still to be resolved,
0:36:37 > 0:36:38has Paul been swayed by seeing they
0:36:38 > 0:36:41can afford a better life in Australia?
0:36:41 > 0:36:46After looking at the figures, today, and being pleasantly surprised,
0:36:46 > 0:36:50at the cost of living in Australia, we're now going to vote for...
0:36:53 > 0:36:55BOTH: Australia.
0:36:55 > 0:36:57It's another vote for Tracy's dream,
0:36:57 > 0:37:01and when the children get back, there's good news on the table.
0:37:02 > 0:37:04All right?
0:37:05 > 0:37:07What's the verdict?
0:37:07 > 0:37:09Why is there a face on that?
0:37:09 > 0:37:10A smiley face?
0:37:10 > 0:37:11Mummy's happy!
0:37:11 > 0:37:14I'm happy because we can afford to live here, we're much,
0:37:14 > 0:37:17much better off in Australia than we would be back at home.
0:37:17 > 0:37:19I'd like to live in Australia.
0:37:19 > 0:37:21You would? Well, we can.
0:37:21 > 0:37:24And we can afford to live in Australia, as well.
0:37:27 > 0:37:28Seeing the figures in black
0:37:28 > 0:37:31and white looks to have made the breakthrough Tracy has been
0:37:31 > 0:37:35hoping for, but there's still one cost the Evans have to face -
0:37:35 > 0:37:38the reality of leaving behind the people they love.
0:37:40 > 0:37:44We have prepared a DVD of thoughts from friends and family back home.
0:37:44 > 0:37:46As there are messages for everyone, Paul
0:37:46 > 0:37:49and Tracy have decided to watch them with the children.
0:37:52 > 0:37:54Hi, guys, hope you're having a wonderful time,
0:37:54 > 0:37:56hope you're really enjoying it out there.
0:37:56 > 0:37:59Hi guys, hope you're having a great time there in Australia,
0:37:59 > 0:38:01and the weather is great.
0:38:01 > 0:38:03Tracy's a hard-working girl,
0:38:03 > 0:38:06she can find work out there and she'll do well at it,
0:38:06 > 0:38:08she's very good at her profession,
0:38:08 > 0:38:12and she's a lovely daughter-in-law, she's smashing, she really is.
0:38:12 > 0:38:15I can't go to the airport, or anything like that,
0:38:15 > 0:38:18because I think I'd just have to jump in front of the plane.
0:38:18 > 0:38:22Erm, I know there are telephones,
0:38:22 > 0:38:24Sky something or other,
0:38:24 > 0:38:26that you can talk to them on computers,
0:38:26 > 0:38:31and things like that, but you don't get the cuddles,
0:38:31 > 0:38:37you don't get the things that happen in a moment...
0:38:37 > 0:38:39something they say,
0:38:39 > 0:38:44or do, that's there for a minute, and then it's gone.
0:38:46 > 0:38:51It's those sort of things that...
0:38:52 > 0:38:54..I will miss.
0:38:55 > 0:38:58They're not just your own children, they're your best friends,
0:38:58 > 0:39:03and it's like losing a good mate, a really good mate, that you've
0:39:03 > 0:39:06known for years and years, because he's not just my son,
0:39:06 > 0:39:09he's a good mate, and I will miss that, a lot,
0:39:09 > 0:39:11because I see a lot of them, we see a lot of him,
0:39:11 > 0:39:13and we're as close as that.
0:39:13 > 0:39:15Obviously, I love him so much.
0:39:15 > 0:39:17You know, he's my son.
0:39:19 > 0:39:21The bond between my daughter
0:39:21 > 0:39:27and myself is such it can never be broken, no matter how far away
0:39:27 > 0:39:30she is, whether she was in this country...
0:39:30 > 0:39:31or Australia.
0:39:33 > 0:39:40So, she will always be in my heart and my thoughts.
0:39:40 > 0:39:43Paul, just speaking to you personally,
0:39:43 > 0:39:46I know we've had this conversation many times in the last few months,
0:39:46 > 0:39:49but, you know, love you lots and lots, you know that,
0:39:49 > 0:39:54but, I hope you have just one last thought about going to
0:39:54 > 0:39:56Australia, and I hope you change your mind.
0:39:56 > 0:39:59If you decide to go back to Australia,
0:39:59 > 0:40:05or stay in Australia, I will miss you all very, very much,
0:40:05 > 0:40:09and my message to you is, "Don't forget your nan,"
0:40:09 > 0:40:11I love you all.
0:40:13 > 0:40:15Wow!
0:40:16 > 0:40:18Are you all right, Keira?
0:40:19 > 0:40:22That's all right, darling!
0:40:22 > 0:40:24You've seen Nanny, there, didn't you?
0:40:39 > 0:40:41They would just miss us, wouldn't they?
0:40:48 > 0:40:50Now we know everyone's thoughts, don't we?
0:40:53 > 0:40:57The prospect of leaving loved ones is always painful.
0:40:57 > 0:41:00For those moving, and those left behind.
0:41:00 > 0:41:01But over the last seven days,
0:41:01 > 0:41:04the Evans have fallen for life in Australia, so are they ready
0:41:04 > 0:41:09to take that huge final step and vote for a new start down under?
0:41:14 > 0:41:19Seeing my friends and family was probably the worst thing I've
0:41:19 > 0:41:22ever had to do in my life.
0:41:22 > 0:41:24It's still hard when you see it on there, and your dad is saying,
0:41:24 > 0:41:26"Don't go!"
0:41:26 > 0:41:28As well as bringing the family closer together, we're
0:41:28 > 0:41:31also tearing it apart, and that's going to be the hardest thing for me.
0:41:31 > 0:41:34I'm not 100% on which way I'm going to vote, yet.
0:41:36 > 0:41:38Yes, this decision I've got to make,
0:41:38 > 0:41:42is easily the hardest decision of my life, really.
0:41:45 > 0:41:47And so our final vote goes to...
0:41:50 > 0:41:52Australia!
0:41:53 > 0:41:55Australia!
0:41:55 > 0:41:56Australia!
0:41:59 > 0:42:00Australia!
0:42:02 > 0:42:04Australia!
0:42:04 > 0:42:07- Wow!- Yes, Liam!
0:42:07 > 0:42:10We've seen what it's like, what it could be like.
0:42:10 > 0:42:12We know we can afford to do it.
0:42:12 > 0:42:14And I just think it would be better for us
0:42:14 > 0:42:17as a family to at least try it, and experience it.
0:42:18 > 0:42:21I just think it's the right thing to do, that's it.
0:42:23 > 0:42:26- Keira, do you want to come and live in Australia?- Yes.
0:42:26 > 0:42:28It seems like a much better lifestyle for us.
0:42:28 > 0:42:31At the end of the day, as a family,
0:42:31 > 0:42:35if you get the chance like we have to come over here and live it,
0:42:35 > 0:42:38then you should take that chance with both hands.
0:42:38 > 0:42:41It's like Liam and Paul have always said, "Give it a couple of years -
0:42:41 > 0:42:43"if you don't like it, you go home,"
0:42:43 > 0:42:46It's better than never coming out here and spending the rest
0:42:46 > 0:42:48of your life thinking, "What if?"
0:42:48 > 0:42:50So, to all you viewers back home...
0:42:50 > 0:42:52Oh, no - cut!
0:42:56 > 0:42:59After years of dreaming of a new life down under,
0:42:59 > 0:43:02Tracy has finally won over her family.
0:43:02 > 0:43:05And wherever their journey takes them, we wish them the very best.
