0:00:16 > 0:00:18I love my garden and what I grow in it.

0:00:18 > 0:00:22But this year I've had a new-found envy for allotments.

0:00:23 > 0:00:25This is a double allotment.

0:00:25 > 0:00:29But it's got beans and it's got peas and potatoes.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32It's got onions, fruit, everything.

0:00:32 > 0:00:34It is just such a beautiful place.

0:00:34 > 0:00:37And the room to do things properly.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39There's so much grown on these allotments.

0:00:39 > 0:00:42People of all ages are enjoying growing their veg here.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45Olga and her two children, Penelope and Alexander,

0:00:45 > 0:00:48have their own patch growing all sorts of produce.

0:00:48 > 0:00:52So how long have you had this allotment?

0:00:52 > 0:00:54This is my second summer.

0:00:54 > 0:00:56And it was an allotment or...?

0:00:56 > 0:01:00- It was a dump. - SHE LAUGHS

0:01:00 > 0:01:02- It was a tip. It was overgrown. - Found a worm.

0:01:02 > 0:01:05- Leave the worm. Worms are good. - We love worms.

0:01:06 > 0:01:11'I want to cook a rich and thick tomato and garlic dish.

0:01:11 > 0:01:15'Everything I'm cooking with has been grown on this allotment.'

0:01:18 > 0:01:22- Are you fussy about vegetables? - No, he's the fussy eater.

0:01:22 > 0:01:24What vegetables do you like?

0:01:24 > 0:01:25Nice cutting.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Thank you.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29Um... Yeah, tomato.

0:01:29 > 0:01:31What herbs have you got here?

0:01:31 > 0:01:34We've got some sage and we've got some rosemary.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36- Oh, some rosemary.- Yep.

0:01:36 > 0:01:37Do you know where the rosemary is?

0:01:37 > 0:01:39- Here.- Yep.

0:01:39 > 0:01:40Can I nick a bit of rosemary?

0:01:40 > 0:01:43Do you want to pick some of the tops of the stalks?

0:01:43 > 0:01:44And put them in there?

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Well, let's see what Nigel's going to do.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49'It's great to see the children enjoying this place,

0:01:49 > 0:01:53'and they really get stuck in seeing the seeds they've planted

0:01:53 > 0:01:55'grow into wonderful produce

0:01:55 > 0:01:57'and then eating it.'

0:01:58 > 0:02:01This is the first year that we've had proper crops

0:02:01 > 0:02:05and they've been part of the process from the beginning,

0:02:05 > 0:02:08from the planting, from the watering.

0:02:08 > 0:02:10So they saw the seeds go in?

0:02:10 > 0:02:12They're seeing it through, yeah.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14That's what's making it interesting for them.

0:02:14 > 0:02:20I'm just going to cut this up into very small bits.

0:02:20 > 0:02:21That one has lots.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25Yeah, and you see, that's actually quite spiky when you eat it.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28But if you cut it up, then all you get is the flavour.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Eugh.

0:02:33 > 0:02:35Oh, that smells lovely.

0:02:35 > 0:02:39Mummy, if I like this, one day can you cook it?

0:02:39 > 0:02:42- Yes.- I know it sounds odd,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44but I want to put a little bit of cream in there

0:02:44 > 0:02:47because I just think with those juices...

0:02:47 > 0:02:48I mean, we'll see.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52'In the pan, I have olive oil, tomatoes, rosemary,

0:02:52 > 0:02:53'garlic and a little cream.'

0:02:53 > 0:02:57The cream mixes with the juices from the tomato

0:02:57 > 0:02:59and you just get a completely different flavour.

0:02:59 > 0:03:00Yum, yum.

0:03:00 > 0:03:07The cream mixed up with that thing, it looks like caramel.

0:03:07 > 0:03:12It's something you could have on the side with some meat,

0:03:12 > 0:03:15or you could dump it on top of rice.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19Let it cool down.

0:03:22 > 0:03:23Mmm.

0:03:23 > 0:03:27I agree. Oops! Mine fell.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29- Mummy?- Yep?

0:03:29 > 0:03:35You know I don't really like that meat thing for the pasta.

0:03:35 > 0:03:38I would like you to cook this instead.

0:03:38 > 0:03:39You mean this instead of bolognese?

0:03:39 > 0:03:42OK, we'll do this instead of bolognese.

0:03:44 > 0:03:45- Mmm.- Yes?

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Mm-hm, yes.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49May I have some more?

0:03:49 > 0:03:52NIGEL LAUGHS You certainly can. Just tuck in.
