0:00:02 > 0:00:05I'm in part of the country famous for its waterways and fenlands.

0:00:05 > 0:00:08It's a wet and wild habitat for this tasty resident,

0:00:08 > 0:00:12traditionally served up as something of a delicacy in this part of the world.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Curious as to where I am?

0:00:14 > 0:00:16Join us, as we escape to the country.

0:00:28 > 0:00:32In today's show, we'll be helping a family escape the confines of the Big Smoke,

0:00:32 > 0:00:34and get more for their money out in the country.

0:00:34 > 0:00:38And we're hoping to blow them away with all the lovely properties we've lined up.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40- Phew!- Wow!

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Some of them take their breath away.

0:00:42 > 0:00:45- Are you still breathing(?) - No.- Just!

0:00:45 > 0:00:49And finally we'll end up at the mystery house, which will hopefully be a resounding success.

0:00:49 > 0:00:52You can hear the echo on it, it's so big!

0:00:56 > 0:01:00I'm in East Anglia, where Fenland eels have been trapped and eaten for generations.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03They were once so important to the local economy

0:01:03 > 0:01:06that a bag of eels could be used instead of money.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08If only that were the case these days.

0:01:08 > 0:01:10But there's more to East Anglia than eels.

0:01:10 > 0:01:14We're here for the houses. Today our property search takes us to north Cambridgeshire.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Cambridgeshire sits in the east of England.

0:01:22 > 0:01:25The landscape is shaped by the fens, a vast region of wetlands

0:01:25 > 0:01:27rivers and waterways created by centuries

0:01:27 > 0:01:30of water drainage and land reclamation.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33It covers some 1,500 square miles

0:01:33 > 0:01:37stretching across the top of Cambridgeshire and west Norfolk,

0:01:37 > 0:01:41and they contain over 250 different species of wildlife.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45The county's capital is Cambridge, home of the world famous university,

0:01:45 > 0:01:48and there's the town of Ely, with its imposing medieval cathedral.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52It's the incredible view from its impressive spire that gave rise

0:01:52 > 0:01:54to its nickname, the Ship of the Fens.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56So what about the architecture?

0:01:56 > 0:01:59Predictably, there's a bit of everything for all tastes,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02from cosy country cottages to classic Victorian

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and Georgian properties.

0:02:04 > 0:02:09But if you're looking for something quirky, you could snap up something like this - a converted windmill.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18So, what's the cost of living, with all these liquid assets?

0:02:18 > 0:02:23Well, I can tell you that the average property price here in Cambridgeshire

0:02:23 > 0:02:28is just over £254,000, 4 per cent above national average.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32It's a property market that consistently holds its own, thanks to architecture,

0:02:32 > 0:02:34academic buzz,

0:02:34 > 0:02:36and really good rail links to London.

0:02:36 > 0:02:41It's a very popular destination for growing families in search of more room to roam.

0:02:41 > 0:02:47Tempted? You might be, after you've seen some of the finest properties currently on the market.

0:02:47 > 0:02:50If it's pure luxury you're after,

0:02:50 > 0:02:56how about this magnificent 17th century Grade II country pile in Glinton, near Peterborough?

0:02:56 > 0:02:59The living space is breathtaking, and there's a wealth

0:02:59 > 0:03:04of period features too. The price tag for this impressive house? £975,000.

0:03:04 > 0:03:09£625,000, on the other hand, would buy you this five-bed,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12stone-built home in Alwalton. Entertain to your heart's content

0:03:12 > 0:03:15in this beautifully fitted kitchen and dining room

0:03:15 > 0:03:18and tasteful living space. It's got great transport links too.

0:03:19 > 0:03:22But if it's something smaller that you're after,

0:03:22 > 0:03:25how about this four-bedroom detached property in Wisbech?

0:03:25 > 0:03:29Lots of warmth here with its great use of wood and natural materials.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33Plus it has the bonus of each bedroom having ensuites.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35On the market for £295,000.

0:03:35 > 0:03:40With such a wide range of properties available here in Cambridgeshire,

0:03:40 > 0:03:43let's hope we can satisfy today's house hunters.

0:03:43 > 0:03:49Today we're with Mark, an audit manager and his wife Dinah, a retail manager.

0:03:49 > 0:03:53They live in Ilford in a four-bedroom semi, with their two boys, Joshua and Joel.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55When we moved in here 12 years ago,

0:03:55 > 0:03:58it pretty much was our dream house, but we've got children now,

0:03:58 > 0:04:02and we just feel that we're looking for our new dream house.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06The boys share a bedroom, and it would be good for them to have one bedroom each.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09I also work from home a lot, and I'm tucked away in the loft,

0:04:09 > 0:04:14which isn't properly converted, and it would be great to have a study that I could use for work.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18We'd also like a reasonable size garden, so the boys have got more room to play.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20I'd also like a guest room, for people to come and stay.

0:04:20 > 0:04:25They'd like to be near a church, too. It's all about quality of life, especially for the boys.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27We'd like to move to the country

0:04:27 > 0:04:30cos we really feel it'd be good for us as a family and for the boys,

0:04:30 > 0:04:34a better lifestyle, lots of nice country air, country walks.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37All four of us also like motor racing as well,

0:04:37 > 0:04:42- and it would be good to get the boys into quad biking or go-karting. - We'd like a village location.

0:04:42 > 0:04:47We like to feel part of a community and have people around us, though not right on top of us.

0:04:47 > 0:04:53And it's also very important for our children to be able to make friends, and for us to make friends as well.

0:04:53 > 0:04:56Mark and Dinah want to have the big outdoors on their doorstep,

0:04:56 > 0:04:59but they need a location where it's easy to get to and from work.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02They've set their hearts on Cambridgeshire.

0:05:02 > 0:05:07It's still within a reasonable commute back to friends and family in this area, but...

0:05:07 > 0:05:10it's well away from the built-up area we live in now.

0:05:10 > 0:05:14They both have clear ideas about what they want from their new home.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16It would be good to have some special features,

0:05:16 > 0:05:21like an open fireplace, perhaps a few oak beams, although not too many.

0:05:21 > 0:05:26We'd like to have a bit of character to it as well, to have some rooms that are nice and light and airy.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28This kitchen's been great for us, but in the new property

0:05:28 > 0:05:31I'd like somewhere you can have a table so the children can eat.

0:05:31 > 0:05:36A real passion of mine is music. I play the flute, piano and guitar.

0:05:36 > 0:05:40The piano's here, but the other instruments are spread out round the house at the moment.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43It'll be great in the new property

0:05:43 > 0:05:47to have a music room where we can keep the instruments and I can just enjoy my music.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Mark and Dinah have sold their property already.

0:05:49 > 0:05:54They put it on the market last year, and sold it for £335,000.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00- So, what's their budget?- Our budget for the new property

0:06:00 > 0:06:07is £365,000, but if we actually took out a small mortgage we could stretch to £400,000.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16Mark and Dinah have a good budget for their new family home.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19With two growing sons, space is going to be the key.

0:06:19 > 0:06:24Not only are they after four bedrooms, but ideally they'd like three reception rooms,

0:06:24 > 0:06:28so that would give Mark a good-size study and that all-important music room.

0:06:28 > 0:06:33They also want a good-size garden, and they want all of this in, or on the edge of, the village.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35No pressure, then!

0:06:35 > 0:06:37Well, actually, yes, quite a lot of pressure.

0:06:37 > 0:06:42There's huge demand from families for this type of property in Cambridgeshire.

0:06:42 > 0:06:45We'll just have to get there before the rest!

0:06:47 > 0:06:51We'll start our search near the Cambridgeshire border.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54The towns Cambridge and Ely have great transport links,

0:06:54 > 0:06:57important as Mark and Dinah will both need to commute.

0:06:57 > 0:06:59I'll be taking them to see some fantastic properties,

0:06:59 > 0:07:04but as usual I won't be revealing how much they cost until after they've had a good look around.

0:07:04 > 0:07:08And then, just to throw a spanner in the works, I'll show them the mystery house.

0:07:11 > 0:07:12Mark, Dinah,

0:07:12 > 0:07:15welcome to north Cambridgeshire. Really good to meet you.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18- And you.- Home of the fenlands. You want a village location.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20This is typical of what you get in this area.

0:07:20 > 0:07:25- You've still got the budget? - Yes, we haven't spent it yet! Still the maximum of £400,000.- Phew!

0:07:25 > 0:07:27- Phew!- I'm glad about that.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30- You're circumstances have changed, haven't they?- They have.

0:07:30 > 0:07:35We've sold our house and are renting accommodation, so we're desperate to move out quickly really.

0:07:35 > 0:07:39- The pressure's on.- The pressure's on.- My reservation is you're after this substantial property

0:07:39 > 0:07:42and you want it in the village or on the edge of it.

0:07:42 > 0:07:46- Will you move further out? - If we fell in love with something you showed us

0:07:46 > 0:07:48then perhaps we would consider moving further out, yes.

0:07:48 > 0:07:52- So I can sway you.- Might be able to. - Even a couple of miles out? - Maybe, yeah.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55- Shall we get on with it? - Yeah.- Come on.- Excellent.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03So, Mark and Dinah have a budget of up to £400,000.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14They'd also like to be near good schools.

0:08:16 > 0:08:20- You're moving with the boys very much in mind, aren't you?- Yes, definitely.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23We just feel there's a better quality of life,

0:08:23 > 0:08:28and as the boys get older we want to make sure that they've got better schooling,

0:08:28 > 0:08:33and that they grow up really having that extra quality of life that the country brings, I feel.

0:08:33 > 0:08:37- How do the boys feel about this move?- Now we've moved into the rented property,

0:08:37 > 0:08:39because it's so small,

0:08:39 > 0:08:42they're really looking forward to having their space back again.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45So they're quite excited about us finding something, really.

0:08:45 > 0:08:48Absolutely. We promised them space, so we've got to keep to our promise.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51There's plenty of space for the boys at our first property.

0:08:51 > 0:08:55It's in Lakes End, in the north of the county.

0:08:55 > 0:08:57Surrounded by the fens, this village really has that

0:08:57 > 0:09:00get-away-from-it-all feeling about it.

0:09:00 > 0:09:04There's a pub, and it's an hour's commute to London from Peterborough.

0:09:04 > 0:09:05It has good schools nearby, too.

0:09:05 > 0:09:09Let's hope this period detached house, which oozes history,

0:09:09 > 0:09:10is as appealing inside

0:09:10 > 0:09:12as it is out.

0:09:12 > 0:09:15- I can't wait to see what you think of this.- Oh, right.

0:09:17 > 0:09:19- Do come in.- OK.- Thank you.

0:09:19 > 0:09:22- Thank you.- So, instantly, a bit of luxury for you here.

0:09:22 > 0:09:28- A grand hallway with a wonderful sweeping staircase. - It's a lovely staircase.

0:09:28 > 0:09:34You usually come into a property dating this period and the hallways can be quite small, quite dark.

0:09:34 > 0:09:38- But you get the impression of light airiness. Shall I lead you on?- Yes, please.

0:09:38 > 0:09:39Come with me!

0:09:40 > 0:09:42Mark, Dinah, this is the sitting room.

0:09:42 > 0:09:48- Right.- Nice size.- Very bright. - Yes.- Double aspect. Plenty of light coming through.

0:09:48 > 0:09:53- Sun coming through.- Can you imagine yourselves as a family sitting here? - Yeah, it's a nice room.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55- Lots of original features. - Yes, I can see that.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59- French windows leading out in to the garden. Don't look out into the garden yet!- OK.- OK.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03- And the shutters.- Yeah, they work! - Excellent.- Excellent.

0:10:03 > 0:10:07- It's a lovely touch.- Yes. - And I know, Mark, you were after a fireplace that also worked.- Yeah.

0:10:07 > 0:10:11- You've got a coal fire there. - That's lovely.- That's good.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14- The ceiling looks like it needs a bit of attention. - I noticed that...

0:10:14 > 0:10:18- You don't miss a trick, do you?- No. - That's what you call in this sort of property, "character".

0:10:18 > 0:10:23Oh, right. We've got that character in our rented property at the moment, actually.

0:10:23 > 0:10:28- But you can imagine yourself in this room?- Yes. It's a nice family room. - It's a nice size.- Onward and upward!

0:10:28 > 0:10:32- Lovely.- Excellent. - Peel off to the right when you come through the door.- OK.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35'The cracks in the ceiling aren't structural,

0:10:35 > 0:10:38'and can be easily fixed with some plastering and a lick of paint.'

0:10:38 > 0:10:41So Mark, if you do decide to escape to the country

0:10:41 > 0:10:46- one of your requirements is a study. - Yes.- You're going to be working from home.- Working from home.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48- This is currently a study.- OK. - Big enough for you?

0:10:48 > 0:10:54Yes...that's ample space. I think the only concern here would be that

0:10:54 > 0:10:57it needs to be somewhere I can get peace and quiet.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00Being near the sitting room, don't know quite how that would work.

0:11:00 > 0:11:06- Tell you what, this room that we're going into now is currently a playroom.- OK.- Oh right.

0:11:06 > 0:11:09It could well turn into a music room, of course.

0:11:09 > 0:11:13- Of course. - That'll be good to have the study and music room close together.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15This'll be my part of the house.

0:11:15 > 0:11:19And in here you'd have, what? The baby grand piano?

0:11:19 > 0:11:23Yes. The two guitars, flute, and hopefully one day

0:11:23 > 0:11:26if I can get the boys on drums. That's my only way to get a drumkit, you see,

0:11:26 > 0:11:29I get one of the boys on drums and we buy a drumkit.

0:11:29 > 0:11:32- Let's go and have a look at the rest of the house. Come on!- OK. - Excellent.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36'So, a few pluses already.

0:11:36 > 0:11:41'Now we're leaving the 18th century part of the property behind and going back to the 17th century.'

0:11:41 > 0:11:45- Um, and, er, not a straight line anywhere!- No.

0:11:45 > 0:11:46SHE LAUGHS

0:11:46 > 0:11:50- There's a great story behind this amazing inglenook fireplace... - Lovely character.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53- which is such the focal point of this room.- Yes.- Yes.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55The current owners found it, basically.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58- There was a 1950s fireplace in there.- Right.- Mm.

0:11:58 > 0:12:01They went further back, there was a Victorian fireplace in there,

0:12:01 > 0:12:05- and eventually they unearthed this. - That is lovely. - It's got real character.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08- You can cook your dinner off this. - Oh, really?- OK.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11It's not on now, thankfully. I've just put my hand on it! Um...

0:12:11 > 0:12:14- What do you think of this room? - It's got a lot of character. - I like this room.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17- Let's got through to the kitchen. - Lovely.- OK.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19With a vaulted ceiling.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22Lots of the original beams evident here.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24And if you look at that one over there,

0:12:24 > 0:12:26- there's a name engraved into it. - Oh yes, I can.

0:12:26 > 0:12:31"John Clements, 1787." Basically he was the builder

0:12:31 > 0:12:37- that built the 18th century part of the house.- Yeah.- They found the beam outside and put it into the kitchen.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39So, you've got the electric range.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42It's got a Belfast sink - also that was found chucked outside.

0:12:42 > 0:12:47- Oh, really?- So they've used original features that the owners before them got rid of.- Got rid of.

0:12:47 > 0:12:51- Then put them back in.- That's nice. - It's a typical farmhouse kitchen.

0:12:51 > 0:12:55- It's nice.- Shall we go upstairs? - Sounds good to me. - Sounds good.- Come on.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58- Watch your head.- Will do.- I'm OK!

0:12:58 > 0:13:00SHE LAUGHS

0:13:00 > 0:13:05'The kitchen seems to have gone down well, but I think they'll really like the space upstairs.'

0:13:07 > 0:13:12So, first off I'll take you to the north wing, the 17th century part of the house.

0:13:12 > 0:13:18- Two potential boys' bedrooms?- OK. - OK.- And the first thing that strikes you when you walk into this room?

0:13:18 > 0:13:21- Sloping floor! - Ooh yes, yeah.

0:13:21 > 0:13:26- It's almost like being on a boat. - It is.- The current owners have been quite ingenious.

0:13:26 > 0:13:30- They've got a huge brick under that side of the bed so it brings it all up.- Yeah.

0:13:30 > 0:13:31- Good size, though?- It is.- Yes.

0:13:31 > 0:13:35- Would the boys be happy with this? - Yeah, they would be.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38It wouldn't be long before they'd put their cars one end of the room

0:13:38 > 0:13:41- and...- Let them run. - Propelling them to the other.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43- It's a great room for that. - A novelty.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45I almost feel like we should do that now!

0:13:45 > 0:13:48- But let's not. We've got plenty more bedrooms to see.- OK.

0:13:48 > 0:13:50- Peel to the left when you go outside.- Excellent.

0:13:52 > 0:13:57'This house certainly has lots of character. And there's another, quirky room next door.'

0:13:57 > 0:14:02- It's an unusual-shaped room.- It is. - You've got the chimney breast going that way.

0:14:02 > 0:14:06- What do you make of it? - It's a nice-sized room for one of the boys. It'd be fine.

0:14:06 > 0:14:11- Do you think they'd be happy in here?- I think they would be, yes. - I hope they don't bounce too much.

0:14:11 > 0:14:15- Yeah, the floor's...- You can feel... - Wow! It really does move. - You can feel it giving a little.

0:14:15 > 0:14:20- It's interesting. The room we've been in sloped one way and this slopes the other.- That's all right.

0:14:20 > 0:14:24- You don't mind that? - No, that's the nature of the house because of the old style of it,

0:14:24 > 0:14:25and that's the way it is.

0:14:25 > 0:14:31Along the corridor there's also a large third bedroom, plus a bathroom with a nice view over the fields.

0:14:31 > 0:14:35But we've saved the master bedroom till last.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37This would probably be your bedroom.

0:14:37 > 0:14:42- No more sloping floors.- Right.- Good. - We're back in the Georgian part so it's straight lines everywhere.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45- Lovely spacious room.- That's very nice. It is very big. Yes.

0:14:45 > 0:14:50- Probably room for an ensuite if you wanted one.- Yes. - South-facing windows. Very bright.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52We've seen the whole house now.

0:14:52 > 0:14:57- Shall we see outside?- Sounds good. - That could sway your opinion.- OK. - There's plenty of outside space.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59- Let's go and have a look.- OK. - Let's go.

0:14:59 > 0:15:04'Maybe this lovely old property is just a little too quirky for Mark and Dinah's tastes,

0:15:04 > 0:15:08'but I think they, and the kids especially, are going to love the enormous garden.'

0:15:08 > 0:15:13- Nice size garden.- You see, I can imagine you both sat there with a glass in your hand

0:15:13 > 0:15:16- watching the boys on their trampoline...- Yes.- Or in the pool.

0:15:16 > 0:15:20- There's plenty of space for that. - There is.- I like the way it's got trees and shrubs around.

0:15:20 > 0:15:21You've got quite a lot of privacy.

0:15:21 > 0:15:25- You've got your mature garden.- Yeah. - You're totally private here.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27And I say part of the grounds,

0:15:27 > 0:15:31because over in the back you've got paddocks. The current owners have horses.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33But you could change it into a garden.

0:15:33 > 0:15:34It's work in progress, really.

0:15:34 > 0:15:37So how much do you think this property's on the market for?

0:15:37 > 0:15:39- Hm...- Hm...

0:15:39 > 0:15:42I actually think this is probably over our budget.

0:15:42 > 0:15:43And I would say...

0:15:43 > 0:15:45£415,000.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48£415,000.

0:15:48 > 0:15:49How about you?

0:15:49 > 0:15:51I'm going to go for 420.

0:15:51 > 0:15:55- So you both think that this property's over your budget of 400,000.- Mm.- Yes.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58Well, I can tell you, and I will tell you,

0:15:58 > 0:16:02that this property was once on the market for...

0:16:02 > 0:16:04£435,000.

0:16:04 > 0:16:08- Yeah.- It's no longer on the market for £435,000.- Right.

0:16:08 > 0:16:11It's on the market for £350,000.

0:16:11 > 0:16:16- Really?- OK.- Well, that's really interesting. That's a big drop, really, isn't it?

0:16:16 > 0:16:21- It's a huge drop.- Huge.- Well within your budget. You're dying to get back in there!- I am, yeah.

0:16:21 > 0:16:26- Take a look around. Take your time and I'll see you back here in a few moments.- That's great.- Thank you.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28Well. Not quite sure how that went.

0:16:28 > 0:16:33I get the impression that they liked half of the property, the Georgian half of the property,

0:16:33 > 0:16:37They're not quite sure about the 17th-century characterful bit. Um...

0:16:38 > 0:16:41Maybe the price of the property's changed all that.

0:16:41 > 0:16:42We'll see

0:16:57 > 0:17:00But I'm not sure that all that quirky character

0:17:00 > 0:17:02has won them over.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05I do like this room. Lovely and spacious.

0:17:05 > 0:17:11- Yeah, it is nice.- I think if you put in an ensuite it would ruin it because it'd be a lot smaller.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13But the boys would be in the bathroom.

0:17:13 > 0:17:16- Well. We just have to make sure we're first in there.- OK.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19I like the house a lot. I particularly like the Georgian side of it.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22I like the study,

0:17:22 > 0:17:26and the music room together. I could really make that my part of the house, if you like.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30I'm a bit concerned about a few substantial cracks in the ceilings.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33Other than that, I like the house a lot.

0:17:33 > 0:17:38I thought it was a nice big property. Had potential to do things we'd like to do with it.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40The garden was nice and spacious.

0:17:40 > 0:17:44The boys would really like the garden. But the money it was on for, 350,

0:17:44 > 0:17:46was actually a fantastic price for this sort of house.

0:17:47 > 0:17:50- Oh! I'm loving the smiles. - Very nice.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53- Let's move on. Plenty more to see. - OK.- OK.- Come on!

0:17:57 > 0:18:02Taking a break from property hunting, Mark and Dinah decide to check out the local area.

0:18:02 > 0:18:06Ely is the jewel in the county's crown. Its name means Isle of Eels,

0:18:06 > 0:18:11as once eel fishing and wild fowling provided the sole livelihood of all fen men.

0:18:11 > 0:18:16Before the fens were drained in the 18th century, the town stood alone,

0:18:16 > 0:18:19surrounded by water and marshland. Dominating the centre

0:18:19 > 0:18:21of Ely old town is Ely cathedral,

0:18:21 > 0:18:25which dates back to William I's reign in 1083.

0:18:25 > 0:18:30Ely cathedral's long nave was built in the 13th century, so the style is Romanesque.

0:18:30 > 0:18:34The main transepts are the oldest surviving part of the cathedral.

0:18:34 > 0:18:38Today, they're being shown around by the local tour guide John Webster.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41You've come right to the very heart of the cathedral.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45This is the place where this wonderful Norman church was begun in 1081.

0:18:45 > 0:18:50Originally here in the centre was a small, square tower. Today,

0:18:50 > 0:18:55a very big octagonal tower. But it's not the original tower.

0:18:55 > 0:18:59The central tower collapsed in 1322 and then it took 18 years

0:18:59 > 0:19:03to build this new octagonal tower.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06The walls go up for about 120 feet.

0:19:06 > 0:19:10And then inside it was built the lantern tower.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12- Follow me.- Excellent.- Lovely.

0:19:12 > 0:19:16'So, time to climb up those 165 long steps to the top.'

0:19:16 > 0:19:21If you come round here and look out there, you might get a surprising view.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25- Oh, wow!- You can look all the way down the nave of the cathedral.

0:19:25 > 0:19:27- That's fantastic. - If you look up to the top,

0:19:27 > 0:19:31you can see that - it's called a boss. Right in the centre up there.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33It's carved from a single piece of oak.

0:19:33 > 0:19:37It took one of our monks a year to carve that from a single piece of oak.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39And that was put there as the finishing touch.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45That is awesome. That really is.

0:19:46 > 0:19:48If you do come to Cambridge,

0:19:48 > 0:19:52and I really hope you do, this is one of the views you'll become accustomed to.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55We're looking due east. We're right on the top now.

0:19:55 > 0:19:58We're about 120 feet up on top of the lantern tower.

0:19:58 > 0:19:59And right in the distance,

0:19:59 > 0:20:0312 miles away over there, is Thetford Forest.

0:20:03 > 0:20:04You can see for miles.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06Absolutely.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08This could be our local area that we're viewing here.

0:20:08 > 0:20:12I don't think we'd be viewing it from this high, though, normally(!)

0:20:12 > 0:20:14I hope not!

0:20:14 > 0:20:18- I'd get scared of heights if this was the top of my house. - It's lovely though.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20It is. It's beautiful.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23And, after all that climbing,

0:20:23 > 0:20:25what better way to round off a trip

0:20:25 > 0:20:29than a traditional English tea at one of the area's finest tea shops?

0:20:30 > 0:20:33A welcoming round of sandwiches, scones and cake

0:20:33 > 0:20:36should be enough fuel to keep them going for the rest of the day.

0:20:36 > 0:20:38This looks really lovely, doesn't it?

0:20:38 > 0:20:39It does, yep.

0:20:39 > 0:20:45- I don't think we'll bring the boys here. We'll come just the two of us. - Absolutely.- When they're at school.

0:20:45 > 0:20:49- Afternoon tea while they're busy working.- That sounds really good.

0:21:00 > 0:21:02The next property I'm showing them

0:21:02 > 0:21:05is in Haddenham.

0:21:05 > 0:21:07A great location for Mark

0:21:07 > 0:21:10as it's only an hour train commute into London.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13This picturesque village is one of the most popular in the area,

0:21:13 > 0:21:15and has all the amenities you'll need,

0:21:15 > 0:21:19including a pub, post office, and a selection of shops.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Very pretty house, with a central village location.

0:21:22 > 0:21:27- What do you think?- It is. It's pretty. It's well cared for. - Do you want to have a look inside?

0:21:27 > 0:21:29- Absolutely.- Oh yeah. - Let's have a look.

0:21:37 > 0:21:40This is the hallway.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43- Victorian tiles on the floor. - I like the floor. That's good.- Yes.

0:21:43 > 0:21:48- How do you feel about opening the door with the staircase right in front of you?- It's a bit small

0:21:48 > 0:21:53than what we're used to in our old house. But you don't spend time in the hallway, normally.

0:21:53 > 0:21:57- So, it's what the rest of the house has to give. - I'll show you the rest of the house.

0:21:57 > 0:22:01- If you just walk that way. - OK.- OK.- Head off into the living room.- That's good.

0:22:11 > 0:22:15- Phew!- Wow!- You don't expect it when you look at the house from the outside.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17- No, certainly not.- Certainly not.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19One of our criteria for moving

0:22:19 > 0:22:23was we wanted to get involved in the church, cos we're involved in our church at home.

0:22:23 > 0:22:25This looks like we're actually in the church!

0:22:25 > 0:22:29You wouldn't have to go anywhere. Why don't you invite the village to you?

0:22:29 > 0:22:33- Invite the church to us.- Exactly. It's actually green oak, the entire structure.

0:22:33 > 0:22:38- It does look very church-like, doesn't it?- It does, yeah. - What a room for entertaining!

0:22:38 > 0:22:43- It's beautiful.- It really is something else.- Yeah. Christmas in here would be really lovely.

0:22:43 > 0:22:47We always have big family Christmases and that would look great.

0:22:47 > 0:22:51Also, it's very warm now but I can imagine in the winter it might get a little bit cold.

0:22:51 > 0:22:55- You know, all the glass. - I've already spotted

0:22:55 > 0:23:00an interesting feature over there, which looks like something that's going to keep it warm.

0:23:00 > 0:23:03I hate to disappoint you but it's not a woodburner.

0:23:03 > 0:23:04It's a gas fire.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06- OK.- OK.

0:23:06 > 0:23:12- So they've been very clever in putting the wooden logs next to it. - They've fooled us.- They have.

0:23:12 > 0:23:17- But don't panic because it's got underfloor heating in this whole area.- That's great!

0:23:17 > 0:23:20And also real stone flooring. Let's move on, to the kitchen.

0:23:24 > 0:23:25Wow.

0:23:25 > 0:23:29Yeah, this kitchen was fitted 18 months ago, only,

0:23:29 > 0:23:32- and nothing needs to be touched. - I love pine. Most of my furniture is pine.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35So it would just fit in really well.

0:23:35 > 0:23:37Is the underfloor heating here as well?

0:23:37 > 0:23:41- It's not.- It's not.- But let's gloss over that.- Fair enough.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44- If you don't want this property, I'm having it!- Yeah, OK.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46'Hey, it looks like we're on to a winner.'

0:23:46 > 0:23:49Over here you've got a downstairs toilet.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51- OK.- Right.- Yes.

0:23:51 > 0:23:52Very useful utility room.

0:23:52 > 0:23:57- Right.- Right. - Plumbing for washing machine, fridge-freezer, dryer.

0:23:57 > 0:24:01- And down here, your all-important study.- Oh, right.

0:24:01 > 0:24:03Wow.

0:24:03 > 0:24:05DINAH LAUGHS

0:24:05 > 0:24:07- Is it big enough?- It's some study.

0:24:07 > 0:24:11- I know you're after the music room as well.- Right.

0:24:11 > 0:24:16But you could probably get your mini grand piano in here.

0:24:16 > 0:24:19I think that would certainly... be Dinah's use for the room.

0:24:19 > 0:24:24- It would, wouldn't it?- It would. - So you've got your music room and your study in one.

0:24:24 > 0:24:29- Yeah. Not sure how that would work. The study is actually for work-work. - Uh-huh.

0:24:29 > 0:24:33And squashed in there with a grand piano - not 100 per cent sure on that.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36But with what we've seen already, you know.

0:24:36 > 0:24:41- We're going to have to compromise on something, so...- You don't have to spend that long in a study, do you?

0:24:41 > 0:24:46- No...- Much better a music room. - Yeah.- I agree.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49It's great to have so much choice.

0:24:49 > 0:24:52One of the upstairs bedrooms could be turned into a music room,

0:24:52 > 0:24:57still leaving plenty of bedrooms for the boys and a good-sized bathroom to boot.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00I'm thinking this one for, maybe, Joshua?

0:25:00 > 0:25:03- That one for Joel?- Yeah, I think this is ideal for them.

0:25:03 > 0:25:06They've both got single beds so they'd fit nicely into these rooms.

0:25:06 > 0:25:10A lot of thought has gone into this building and the way it's been refurbished,

0:25:10 > 0:25:13You've got sash windows to the front of the building.

0:25:13 > 0:25:17- They're all double glazed. - That's lovely.- So you don't hear the traffic going past.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19If you turn to your left.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26And here we have the master bedroom.

0:25:27 > 0:25:31- Nice box bay window seat there. - That's nice. I could just see myself sitting there,

0:25:31 > 0:25:33in the summer, nothing else to do.

0:25:33 > 0:25:37- No mention of Mark.- He's at work. - Oh, of course. OK.

0:25:37 > 0:25:42- Is this a big enough master bedroom? - This is a lovely size master bedroom, yes.

0:25:42 > 0:25:44- I've got a really nice surprise now. Go in there.- Oh.

0:25:46 > 0:25:49Oh, the bathroom! Ensuite, that's really nice.

0:25:49 > 0:25:53- And Mark's shower.- That's great. You wouldn't know that was here.

0:25:53 > 0:25:55- That's really good. - Have you got one of those at home?

0:25:55 > 0:26:00At the moment you can be in the bath and everyone seems to come piling in to use the toilet.

0:26:00 > 0:26:05So you'd be away from either guests or family. They could use their own toilet

0:26:05 > 0:26:07- you could have yours. - That would be really nice.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10- You haven't seen the garden yet. Come on.- OK.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14'So the upstairs has all the rooms they want. There's the music room and study too.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17'Will the outside clinch the deal?'

0:26:17 > 0:26:20- So, follow me out to your potential garden.- OK.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22DINAH LAUGHS

0:26:22 > 0:26:25It's basically a 300-metre sloping garden.

0:26:25 > 0:26:31- So almost as far as you can see, is your garden.- Right. - You've got a man-made pond.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34No, it's really nice. I really like this garden.

0:26:34 > 0:26:36- Mm.- Well then.

0:26:36 > 0:26:38Mark, Dinah...

0:26:39 > 0:26:43We've come to that bit again. What price do you think it's on the market for?

0:26:43 > 0:26:45- It's got to be 450 at least. - 450, says Mark.

0:26:45 > 0:26:47Dinah?

0:26:47 > 0:26:49I think 425.

0:26:49 > 0:26:54- Somewhere in the middle, actually. It was initially on the market for 450.- Right.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58- It's now on the market for 435. - Right.

0:26:58 > 0:27:00But before your jaw drops even more,

0:27:00 > 0:27:03I should tell you that the owner will take an offer.

0:27:04 > 0:27:09- And by that I mean the owner WILL take an offer.- Right, OK.

0:27:09 > 0:27:12So it...could be within budget.

0:27:12 > 0:27:15- Right, OK.- OK.- Yeah. - How do you feel about it now?

0:27:15 > 0:27:20- It's something to think about. - Definitely.- Mm.- Definitely. - Go and have a think. Go back inside.

0:27:20 > 0:27:25- OK.- Enjoy the underfloor heating. - It's warm in there!- I'll stay out here and freeze.- Yeah.- Fine.

0:27:25 > 0:27:29- Not a problem. I'll see you in a while.- OK.- Bye.

0:27:29 > 0:27:31They seem disappointed.

0:27:32 > 0:27:35It's obvious that they really, really love this property.

0:27:35 > 0:27:39They're already talking about how they can incorporate their life into that space.

0:27:40 > 0:27:42Is it out of their budget?

0:27:42 > 0:27:45In this current climate, anything could happen.

0:27:45 > 0:27:48And if they do move in, I want to be invited to the Christmas party.

0:27:49 > 0:27:53It may be over budget, but you get a lot for your money.

0:28:00 > 0:28:04The question is, are they prepared to push the boat out for it?

0:28:04 > 0:28:09- What do you think to the bedroom? - It's a beautiful master bedroom. - It is lovely.

0:28:09 > 0:28:10The ensuite shower is really good.

0:28:10 > 0:28:13- It's a bonus, really.- Absolutely.

0:28:13 > 0:28:17- And our furniture would look nice. - I was thinking that.- It's quite similar to what's here already.

0:28:17 > 0:28:23I like the house ever such a lot. I'm a bit...scared to like it too much, actually,

0:28:23 > 0:28:26um, because it's out of our price range.

0:28:26 > 0:28:29We'd have to think seriously about how much we can afford.

0:28:29 > 0:28:32And what sort of offer we would be able to put in on the property.

0:28:32 > 0:28:35But it's an excellent family house, and I'd like to think,

0:28:35 > 0:28:39love to think, that it could be the next Jordan house.

0:28:39 > 0:28:42I really like this house. This is my favourite room.

0:28:42 > 0:28:46This oak conservatory is just absolutely fantastic.

0:28:46 > 0:28:51I could see my family here. The garden is lovely for the boys. They'd really enjoy that.

0:28:51 > 0:28:53The only downside is the price.

0:28:53 > 0:28:59If we really liked it and put in an offer, would he come down and meet us at some point in the middle?

0:28:59 > 0:29:03- You took your time!- Yeah, nice and warm in there. - How cold is it out here?

0:29:03 > 0:29:06- Come on, let's move on.- OK.

0:29:10 > 0:29:14Time for Mark and Dinah to meet their prospective new neighbours.

0:29:14 > 0:29:19This area is home to the fenland eel, which has helped shape the lives of people

0:29:19 > 0:29:24here in the fens for centuries. In the old days, eels were the local currency.

0:29:24 > 0:29:29With every village paying taxes in eels. There were so many of them,

0:29:29 > 0:29:33it seems everything was made out of them too, from wedding rings to garters.

0:29:33 > 0:29:39Eel fishing is now a dying trade and one of the last eel fishermen in the region is Peter Carter.

0:29:39 > 0:29:40We've come to meet him

0:29:40 > 0:29:44in his favourite stretch of fen fishing ground.

0:29:44 > 0:29:47- Hello.- This is the eel man of Cambridgeshire.- Nice to meet you.

0:29:47 > 0:29:52- Pretty impressive title.- It's an old family tradition, a family trade. We've been doing it 200 years,

0:29:52 > 0:29:54catching eels on the fen.

0:29:54 > 0:29:56- What sort of life is it? - It's a good life.

0:29:56 > 0:29:59It can be hard work. The weather can be hard. But...

0:29:59 > 0:30:02It's peaceful, isn't it? And that's what I like about it.

0:30:02 > 0:30:06- So there are eels in there now?- Yes! They're in the mud at the bottom.

0:30:06 > 0:30:10They're there all year round. They hibernate in the mud in the winter,

0:30:10 > 0:30:14- and go out feeding in the summer. - So where do they come from? - Sargasso Sea, which...- Where?

0:30:14 > 0:30:17- About 4,000 miles away.- Ah.

0:30:17 > 0:30:22- I didn't expect you to say that. - They come up with the Gulf Stream as tiny glass eels, or elvers.

0:30:22 > 0:30:26They stay here on the fen about 20 years before they make the trip back.

0:30:26 > 0:30:29- They die and lay their eggs. - How do you catch them? - We use our eel traps.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32- Traditional trap, around for over 1,000 years. - Is that what they are?

0:30:32 > 0:30:36- That's what they are, yeah. I can show you how they're made. - Yeah, come on.

0:30:36 > 0:30:41- Let's go for it. I was hoping you'd say that! - DINAH LAUGHS

0:30:41 > 0:30:44'Eels are commonly caught using hives made of willow,

0:30:44 > 0:30:50'which was an original industry on the River Ouse as far back as pre-Norman times.

0:30:50 > 0:30:53'European eels stock has plummeted, and as an endangered species,

0:30:53 > 0:30:57'they enjoy special protection and can only be caught under license.'

0:30:57 > 0:31:01- How long does it take you to make a whole trap?- About three hours.

0:31:01 > 0:31:06I like to sit in the winter, in front of the fire, and just make these up ready for the new year.

0:31:06 > 0:31:11- Do you want to have a go?- Yep, that'd be great.- All right. See what you can do with that.

0:31:11 > 0:31:14- MARK TAKES SHARP INTAKE OF BREATH - It's alive!- It's lethal.

0:31:14 > 0:31:16Watch what you're doing, will you!

0:31:18 > 0:31:20So how do you trap them?

0:31:20 > 0:31:25Oh, well the way it works, is they've got an entrance with spikes on.

0:31:25 > 0:31:28That's an old fen word, it means "chair".

0:31:28 > 0:31:33Chair is an old name for a narrow gap. Then you've got a second chair, in there.

0:31:33 > 0:31:35- Even narrower. - Which is even narrower.

0:31:35 > 0:31:40So as the eel works his way up, he can't turn back there, and he tries to go in there

0:31:40 > 0:31:43- and gets stuck, leaving that empty for the next eel. - How many can you get in there?

0:31:43 > 0:31:46- A dozen eels in there, on a good night.- Really?

0:31:46 > 0:31:50'Well, that's enough fishiness for now. It's time to hit the road again.'

0:31:54 > 0:31:59As the day draws to a close in the Cambridgeshire countryside, Mark and Dinah take time

0:31:59 > 0:32:02to mull over the two properties they've seen so far.

0:32:02 > 0:32:06- It was a busy day, wasn't it?- It was a busy day. Enjoyable, but busy.

0:32:06 > 0:32:08What did you think of the farmhouse we saw?

0:32:08 > 0:32:12I felt as though I should like it cos of the sheer amount of space,

0:32:12 > 0:32:15but I could see faults. I was surprised at the price being so low.

0:32:15 > 0:32:22- Yeah, I was surprised at the price being so low.- But... - Quite a bit of work.- A lot of work.

0:32:22 > 0:32:28- What about the house in Haddenham that we saw?- Excellent. I could imagine that being our next house.

0:32:28 > 0:32:34- But, one slight problem. The price. - The price. It was a lot of money but it was beautiful.

0:32:34 > 0:32:39- The garden room...- It was. - ..was lovely. The oak ceilings. It just looked like a chapel

0:32:39 > 0:32:41when you walked into it.

0:32:41 > 0:32:44- It was nice it was a bigger village. - It was.

0:32:44 > 0:32:47It had its own primary school. The boys could make friends

0:32:47 > 0:32:50- and go on to senior school with them.- It was an excellent property.

0:32:50 > 0:32:55- Perhaps best sleep on it. - Yeah. See what tomorrow will bring. - That's right. OK.

0:33:00 > 0:33:03We're looking for a spacious family home

0:33:03 > 0:33:09for Mark and Dinah, who can't wait to leave Ilford in Greater London behind and start a new life here,

0:33:09 > 0:33:10in north Cambridgeshire.

0:33:10 > 0:33:15They have a budget of £400,000, and so far they've seen two very different houses

0:33:15 > 0:33:16with some unusual features.

0:33:16 > 0:33:19This looks like we're actually in the church.

0:33:19 > 0:33:23This house will make them think with their hearts, not their heads.

0:33:23 > 0:33:26- My heart's stopped beating!- It's great.- It's stopped beating now.

0:33:26 > 0:33:30But will I set the cat amongst the pigeons with the mystery house?

0:33:31 > 0:33:36So, the search continues to find Mark and Dinah their dream family home

0:33:36 > 0:33:41here in north Cambridgeshire. We've ascertained they don't want a newly built property.

0:33:41 > 0:33:47But also we found out yesterday that a 17th-century cottage with "bouncy floors", as Mark put it,

0:33:47 > 0:33:49is also too much to take on.

0:33:49 > 0:33:54What I think they're after is a property with character, but with all the modern touches.

0:33:55 > 0:33:58Let's hope the third property comes up trumps.

0:33:59 > 0:34:02It's on the outskirts of the village of Christchurch.

0:34:02 > 0:34:05It's a real find as it overlooks nothing but open fields.

0:34:05 > 0:34:10It's not on the edge of a village as such, but the nearest one isn't that far away.

0:34:10 > 0:34:12That's where they can find a pub

0:34:12 > 0:34:13and a few local shops.

0:34:17 > 0:34:23- That's the property.- That's impressive.- That looks fantastic. - I like the symmetrical-ness of it,

0:34:23 > 0:34:26- with the windows at the top on either side.- Yeah.

0:34:26 > 0:34:30- Do you...?- Lots of windows. I like lots of windows. - You do like lots of windows.

0:34:30 > 0:34:31Do you think it's old or new?

0:34:31 > 0:34:36I don't know. It gives the impression it could be old, but it's probably new.

0:34:36 > 0:34:41- Right.- It's a tale of two houses. The original deeds to this house date back to about 1840.- Right.

0:34:41 > 0:34:43No one lived here for 20 years.

0:34:43 > 0:34:46And then in 2002, the present owners renovated it...

0:34:46 > 0:34:51- Oh, right.- To a really, really high standard.- Looks lovely. - Shall we get in there?

0:34:51 > 0:34:55- I'd love to.- Can't wait.- Come on. - It's a bit cold out here!- A bit(!)

0:34:55 > 0:34:56DINAH LAUGHS

0:35:05 > 0:35:06Come on in.

0:35:07 > 0:35:10- Oh, wow. Lovely!- Mark, you asked for a fire,

0:35:10 > 0:35:12and I think I've delivered a fire.

0:35:12 > 0:35:17- You can feel the warmth from it. That's really nice. - I'm going to take my coat off.

0:35:17 > 0:35:21- Yes.- Make myself at home. - You're making yourselves at home. That's a good start.

0:35:21 > 0:35:25- Well, this is the original brickwork.- Right. - From the 1840s cottage.

0:35:25 > 0:35:31- The interesting thing about this is, some bricks taken from a local windmill.- Oh, right.

0:35:31 > 0:35:35- They're a slightly different colour. - You can see.- There's a lovely cubby hole there. Take a look.

0:35:35 > 0:35:39- That was from the original cottage. But it's a lovely snug. - Yeah.- It's lovely.

0:35:39 > 0:35:43- You can actually smell the wood in here, can't you?- You can.

0:35:43 > 0:35:49- Let's get the work aspect over and done with.- Sounds good to me.- Yep. - Follow me into the study.- OK.

0:35:50 > 0:35:54First thing that hits you is this massive reclaimed oak beam.

0:35:54 > 0:35:59- I hope it doesn't hit you.- You're not tall enough. You're fine. So, the current owners have this as a study.

0:35:59 > 0:36:04- You come in through the front door. - Yes.- Straight into the office. - Yes.- OK.

0:36:04 > 0:36:09- But it could equally be a music room.- Could be.- It's big enough. Would you keep this as a study?

0:36:09 > 0:36:14- That depends on what there is in the rest of the house.- Pwhoar. You've thrown down the gauntlet.- I have.

0:36:14 > 0:36:19- What isn't there in this house, is more like it.- Well.- OK.- Let me take you through to the living room. OK.

0:36:27 > 0:36:30So you can't but be impressed by this room.

0:36:30 > 0:36:33- No, this certainly is impressive. - It is.

0:36:33 > 0:36:36This vaulted oak ceiling

0:36:36 > 0:36:39- It gives tremendous space.- It does. - It's lovely.

0:36:39 > 0:36:42- And a lovely fireplace. - Another lovely fire. And those Tudor bricks

0:36:42 > 0:36:46- in a herringbone design. It's really effective, isn't it? - It is. That's lovely.

0:36:46 > 0:36:52- I think the boys would love it. Especially looking out. Lovely scenery.- It's a really grand space.

0:36:52 > 0:36:57- But it's also a homely living room. - Nice and warm as well.- Really special.- There's plenty more to see.

0:36:57 > 0:37:00- Follow me.- OK.- OK.

0:37:01 > 0:37:02Watch your heads.

0:37:04 > 0:37:07- And even more so here.- OK.

0:37:07 > 0:37:10- Stairs leading up to the first floor. I'll show you that later.- OK.

0:37:10 > 0:37:12- Mind your head again.- Yep.

0:37:12 > 0:37:16- Dinah, you probably don't have to, do you?- No.- Look at that!

0:37:16 > 0:37:18- I can fit through that. - It was made for her (!)

0:37:18 > 0:37:22- What with all the sun you get in Cambridgeshire, you need a sun room.- Aww.

0:37:22 > 0:37:24- Yes.- This is a sun room.- It is.

0:37:24 > 0:37:28- This is a lovely space. - It's beautiful. - It's a sun room/dining room.

0:37:28 > 0:37:30You've got underfloor heating.

0:37:30 > 0:37:36- And I like what's over the top of it. The galleried landing. - You can imagine Romeo and Juliet...

0:37:36 > 0:37:38- Where art thou, Romeo?- There you go.

0:37:38 > 0:37:40You've got the part! And you've got these...

0:37:40 > 0:37:43Oak screens. French doors leading out into the garden.

0:37:43 > 0:37:46- Another eating area.- That's really lovely. You can imagine

0:37:46 > 0:37:51- coming out of the bedroom and looking out. It'd be really lovely. - Let me take you to the kitchen.

0:37:51 > 0:37:52- OK.- OK.

0:37:55 > 0:37:56Wow. Look at that. Great!

0:37:56 > 0:37:59It's massive, isn't it, for a kitchen.

0:37:59 > 0:38:00It's a good size, isn't it?

0:38:00 > 0:38:02You've got a wonderful range.

0:38:02 > 0:38:06The oak beam running above the range, that's from a local church.

0:38:06 > 0:38:07- What do you make of it?

0:38:07 > 0:38:12- It looks really nice. I love the units. Lovely. - They are.- Beech-top units.- Yeah.

0:38:12 > 0:38:15- You've got the Belfast sink as well. - Belfast sink.- Yes.

0:38:15 > 0:38:21- You say this is a large kitchen, but it's actually, yet again, a warm, cosy kitchen.- It is.

0:38:21 > 0:38:25- Pushing the right buttons? - Absolutely. Downstairs is really excellent.

0:38:25 > 0:38:28Upstairs is really excellent, too. Come on, follow me!

0:38:30 > 0:38:35'So far so good. Another bonus is the utility room for all that extra washing they'll need to do

0:38:35 > 0:38:36'after those country rambles.

0:38:36 > 0:38:41'There's also the garage, that Mark wants, but I'm desperate to get them upstairs

0:38:41 > 0:38:43'to show them the bedrooms.'

0:38:43 > 0:38:45Step up, into the master bedroom.

0:38:46 > 0:38:53- This is a big room.- Some bedroom! - Good space for you?- It's a very good-sized room.- It is.- It's lovely.

0:38:53 > 0:38:56- Follow me through here.- OK.- OK.

0:38:56 > 0:38:58- This is the dressing room.- Right.

0:38:58 > 0:39:02- And the substantial ensuite bathroom.- Oh, I like that.

0:39:02 > 0:39:07- That is some ensuite shower room. - That's really big.- It is.- Don't say anything until you've seen this.

0:39:07 > 0:39:09OK.

0:39:11 > 0:39:13- Follow me.- OK.

0:39:14 > 0:39:17Along the corridor are two more of the four bedrooms,

0:39:17 > 0:39:19also with the characterful beams they like.

0:39:19 > 0:39:22There's plenty of space for the boys to have a room each,

0:39:22 > 0:39:26which is what Dinah wants. And there's even more upstairs.

0:39:26 > 0:39:29Up here, you've got this wonderful communal space.

0:39:29 > 0:39:34It's just...room after room. I don't know what we'd do with it, actually.

0:39:34 > 0:39:39- It's a mind game to try and work out what to do with it all.- Again, you've got the view there.

0:39:39 > 0:39:42- Oh yeah. More farmland! - SHE LAUGHS

0:39:42 > 0:39:46- You're definitely not overlooked here.- No, you're not. - More communal space.

0:39:46 > 0:39:49- Yeah.- Plenty of headroom. What do you think you'd put here?

0:39:49 > 0:39:54- The boys do have a snooker table. - Ah, ideal.- So they'd want that up here, probably.

0:39:54 > 0:39:57- In either room, really. - Either room.- Yes.

0:39:57 > 0:40:01If the boys have got their snooker table here, you'd want to keep that room as a bedroom,

0:40:01 > 0:40:06- because I was thinking, could be a study, could be a music room. Have a look.- OK.- All right.

0:40:06 > 0:40:10- Wonderful window, by the way, as you walk in.- Fantastic window. I love that window.

0:40:10 > 0:40:13- That's fantastic. - With that window like that,

0:40:13 > 0:40:17- I could see Dinah sleeping in this room, rather than in the master bedroom.- Probably.

0:40:17 > 0:40:19- Yeah. - That's Dinah's sort of thing.

0:40:19 > 0:40:24- Definitely.- I like things that are a little bit different, sometimes. - You've got one more room to see.

0:40:24 > 0:40:27- OK.- Can you guess what it is?

0:40:27 > 0:40:32- Er...the bathroom?- You're right. - Family bathroom. We've already got an ensuite shower room.

0:40:32 > 0:40:36- But lead the way!- This could be my bathroom. You have the other room. I'm having this one.

0:40:36 > 0:40:39It's good that you're planning ahead!

0:40:41 > 0:40:44And if it's a family bathroom you're after...

0:40:44 > 0:40:47Wow, that is a big room. A big bathroom.

0:40:47 > 0:40:50Again, you've got light coming in as well.

0:40:50 > 0:40:55- Wonderful long window.- Love a lovely window. It's one of the biggest bathrooms I've ever seen!

0:40:55 > 0:40:56OK, we've seen the inside.

0:40:56 > 0:40:59- Get your coats back on! Let's go outside.- Ohh.

0:41:07 > 0:41:09- So come on outside.- OK.

0:41:11 > 0:41:13This is a lovely garden, isn't it?

0:41:13 > 0:41:16I can see a big decision in the summer,

0:41:16 > 0:41:19whether you eat your meal here, or on your personal decking.

0:41:19 > 0:41:23- Mm.- Yeah. We had decking at our old house but it was nowhere near the size of that.

0:41:23 > 0:41:28- No.- This is a good size garden. - Very good size garden. - Three-quarters of an acre.

0:41:28 > 0:41:31- You've got the man-made pond. Lovely pond with a bridge. - That's beautiful.

0:41:31 > 0:41:35- Really beautiful.- Yeah. Lovely property, lovely garden.

0:41:35 > 0:41:36OK.

0:41:37 > 0:41:40- Have another look before I ask you the big question.- The big question.

0:41:40 > 0:41:41Take it all in.

0:41:43 > 0:41:45How much do you think this property is on the market for?

0:41:45 > 0:41:47I reckon...

0:41:47 > 0:41:50440,000.

0:41:50 > 0:41:53- Mark?- 460.

0:41:53 > 0:41:54You're wrong.

0:41:55 > 0:41:58So, do you think you're above or below the mark?

0:41:58 > 0:42:00I'm hoping that we're above the mark.

0:42:01 > 0:42:06- It was initially on the market for £650,000. - DINAH GASPS

0:42:08 > 0:42:09You still breathing?

0:42:09 > 0:42:12- No!- Just.

0:42:12 > 0:42:13You can breathe.

0:42:13 > 0:42:15It's currently on the market for...

0:42:16 > 0:42:19£395,000.

0:42:19 > 0:42:20Really?

0:42:20 > 0:42:22They're that desperate to move?

0:42:22 > 0:42:26- I kid you not. It's been on the market for two-and-a-half years. - Really?- Yeah.

0:42:26 > 0:42:31- It's a long time.- This property could be yours for £395,000.

0:42:31 > 0:42:32That's amazing, really.

0:42:32 > 0:42:36- My heart's stopped beating now. - He looks like he's going to cry! - It's stopped beating now.

0:42:36 > 0:42:41- So, 3,700 square foot...- Mm. - ..Of property could be yours

0:42:41 > 0:42:46- for £395,000.- I've stopped worrying about the money and started worrying about the schools.

0:42:46 > 0:42:48Don't worry about the schools!

0:42:48 > 0:42:52Lovely schools, lovely village close by, and you have the neighbours as well.

0:42:52 > 0:42:55- But more than anything, you've got a remarkable property. - Yeah.

0:42:55 > 0:42:59- It's lovely.- Don't decide yet. Go and enjoy it. See you at the front door.

0:42:59 > 0:43:03- See you. You might have to come and find us! - I don't know if I can, there!

0:43:03 > 0:43:04What a great reaction!

0:43:04 > 0:43:06Did you see Mark's face?

0:43:06 > 0:43:10I'm so thrilled for them. They've loved this property from the beginning.

0:43:10 > 0:43:14They were worried that it was out in the open and remote, but with a house like that,

0:43:14 > 0:43:17you're never going to be short of house guests.

0:43:17 > 0:43:20At £395,000

0:43:20 > 0:43:22this property is just under budget.

0:43:28 > 0:43:30But is it too far out on a limb for them?

0:43:30 > 0:43:34I cannot believe you can get so much property for 395,000.

0:43:34 > 0:43:38Although it's outside a village, it's such a good property,

0:43:38 > 0:43:41that it's one that we would want to be top of our list.

0:43:41 > 0:43:43It's an excellent bathroom.

0:43:43 > 0:43:48- I think the boys... They wouldn't believe how big a bathroom could be. - Yeah. They'd be gobsmacked,

0:43:48 > 0:43:50- about the house.- They would be.

0:43:50 > 0:43:55This is an amazing property. It's been wonderfully built. Everything's been thought about really well.

0:43:55 > 0:43:59It's got so much space. The children would love it.

0:43:59 > 0:44:04The fact it's outside a village might just make me think a bit more. But actually, my heart says

0:44:04 > 0:44:06this is our property.

0:44:06 > 0:44:08Come on, you two. I'm dragging you away.

0:44:08 > 0:44:11- But we want to stay. - You can't. Come on.- Oh. OK.

0:44:16 > 0:44:19When you move to the country, what greater opportunity is there

0:44:19 > 0:44:23to take up a new hobby. The family already have a passion for motor racing,

0:44:23 > 0:44:27and they've chosen the perfect place to indulge in their hobby, as the flat landscape

0:44:27 > 0:44:29is just ideal for it.

0:44:29 > 0:44:33So today they're with Malcolm Swan at Wildtracks off-road activity park.

0:44:33 > 0:44:38He'll be giving them a taste of the motor sport they can enjoy when they move to the area.

0:44:38 > 0:44:41Right. What we have here, Thunder Hawk kart, 270cc.

0:44:41 > 0:44:44We'll get you strapped in and I'll explain all the controls.

0:44:44 > 0:44:47The first thing they need to do is get their safety gear on

0:44:47 > 0:44:50before they let rip and get ready for lots of mud.

0:44:53 > 0:44:57OK, guys. Are you ready? I'll just start the karts up and away we go.

0:44:57 > 0:45:03The karts are not for the faint-hearted, as the 90 bhp off-road beasts

0:45:03 > 0:45:05can reach a top speed of 30 miles an hour,

0:45:05 > 0:45:10and as the karts are so low to the ground, this makes for quite a bumpy ride.

0:45:10 > 0:45:14Although motor racing is not a typical countryside pursuit, it's a great way to get outside,

0:45:14 > 0:45:16- and get muddy.- Good!

0:45:20 > 0:45:23And it looks like Dinah reached that chequered flag first.

0:45:34 > 0:45:36- OK?- I can't see!

0:45:36 > 0:45:38Excellent.

0:45:38 > 0:45:41- Thanks ever so much. That was really good.- You're most welcome.

0:45:41 > 0:45:44- You OK?- I'm fine.- I think I must be as muddy as you are.

0:45:44 > 0:45:47- We're both pretty muddy. That was excellent though.- Really good.

0:45:47 > 0:45:52- The boys'll really love it.- We'd better go and get cleaned up.- You're right. Let's go.- Come on, then!

0:46:03 > 0:46:05Well, now it's time for our mystery house.

0:46:05 > 0:46:10I'm not quite sure how our couple are going to react to what I've got on offer.

0:46:10 > 0:46:14They're both Christians, both heavily involved in the local Baptist scene in Ilford.

0:46:14 > 0:46:18We've found out that they like a well-presented property

0:46:18 > 0:46:21with bags of character and spirit.

0:46:21 > 0:46:23Well, I can promise them spirit.

0:46:23 > 0:46:28Holy spirit, in fact. But will they think it's heaven, or hell?

0:46:30 > 0:46:35You're like two children in a sweet shop, which must mean you're excited about the mystery house.

0:46:35 > 0:46:40Yes. We are really excited about the mystery house, but I'm not sure what it's going to be, really.

0:46:40 > 0:46:42Oh, I reckon I've got a few good ideas.

0:46:42 > 0:46:45I think it's going to be either a thatched property

0:46:45 > 0:46:47cos Dinah really doesn't like thatch,

0:46:47 > 0:46:50and I'm not that keen either, to be honest.

0:46:50 > 0:46:53Or, it's going to be a barn conversion.

0:46:53 > 0:46:56Out of the two? If I was a betting man, which of course I'm not,

0:46:56 > 0:46:59I'd put my money on...the thatch.

0:46:59 > 0:47:02I'm not giving the game away just yet.

0:47:04 > 0:47:06Our mystery property is in Upwell,

0:47:06 > 0:47:09just over the border, in Norfolk.

0:47:09 > 0:47:12This little village has all the amenities they've asked for,

0:47:12 > 0:47:16including that all-important primary school for the boys.

0:47:16 > 0:47:19- I'm taking you back to chapel. - You are.- I can see.

0:47:19 > 0:47:22It is indeed a chapel.

0:47:22 > 0:47:25- It is.- It's going to be interesting seeing what it's like inside.

0:47:25 > 0:47:29How the features have been turned round to be homely.

0:47:29 > 0:47:34- The good news is that you don't have to wash in the font, so come on. I'll show you inside.- OK.

0:47:34 > 0:47:39'This former Baptist chapel has bags of character on the outside,

0:47:39 > 0:47:41'and some original features inside too.'

0:47:41 > 0:47:42Come on in.

0:47:43 > 0:47:47As you can see, it's no longer a chapel inside.

0:47:47 > 0:47:50It's really nice. Quite impressive, actually. Nice hallway.

0:47:50 > 0:47:52Lovely little touch here.

0:47:52 > 0:47:56- These doors were the original Sunday school doors from the back of the chapel.- Right.

0:47:56 > 0:48:00- They're acid-etched, and they've moved them to the front. - Very nice, yeah.

0:48:00 > 0:48:05- I like the moulding above the doors. That's really nice too. - Let's go through to the kitchen.

0:48:09 > 0:48:12- It's a big kitchen. - I thought you would say that.

0:48:12 > 0:48:15- You can hear the echo on it. - Granite work surfaces.

0:48:15 > 0:48:16All the mod cons.

0:48:16 > 0:48:22- Not quite a chapel kitchen that... - No, that we're used to. - That we're used to.

0:48:22 > 0:48:25But again, it's got those big windows letting a lot of light in.

0:48:25 > 0:48:28This is my favourite bit of the kitchen. Have a look up there.

0:48:30 > 0:48:34- Speakers.- Yeah. Surround sound in this room, in the living room

0:48:34 > 0:48:35and in the master bedroom.

0:48:35 > 0:48:39- Can't be bad.- I knew you'd like that. - Could get used to that.

0:48:39 > 0:48:41I know what floats your boat now.

0:48:42 > 0:48:45'Also downstairs is this lovely spacious and light lounge,

0:48:45 > 0:48:49'with its marble fireplace and exposed floorboards.

0:48:49 > 0:48:53'There's a utility room and the study Mark's after. On the first floor we'll start

0:48:53 > 0:48:55'with the first of the five bedrooms.'

0:48:55 > 0:48:58I'm thinking maybe a guest bedroom?

0:48:58 > 0:49:03Yeah. There's a double bed in here now, so it's big enough for a guest bedroom, yeah.

0:49:03 > 0:49:05I'm sensing that you're not loving the mystery house.

0:49:05 > 0:49:07It's...

0:49:07 > 0:49:09it's lovely...decor.

0:49:09 > 0:49:13But there's no special features. There are no oak beams being pointed out.

0:49:13 > 0:49:15You know, it's...

0:49:15 > 0:49:19- It's got nothing special.- Minimalist. - Yes, it's minimalistic.

0:49:19 > 0:49:23- But if it's special features you're after, I've got a couple to show you.- OK. Excellent.

0:49:23 > 0:49:27Here's a lovely little feature. From the original chapel.

0:49:27 > 0:49:32I recognise the feature. I don't know what it is. All I know is they're in the roofs of chapels.

0:49:32 > 0:49:33It works on a pulley system,

0:49:33 > 0:49:37and you can open it to let cold air in if it gets too warm in the chapel.

0:49:37 > 0:49:40- OK.- Oh, right. - It still works, apparently.

0:49:40 > 0:49:43- Where's the pulley?- We won't do it today.- Can't show you now.- OK.

0:49:43 > 0:49:45- Take my word for it.- Will do. - Come along.

0:49:45 > 0:49:50'This house may not offer Mark and Dinah the character they wanted,

0:49:50 > 0:49:55'but the fact that there are five bedrooms more than makes up for it.

0:49:55 > 0:49:58'Dinah could even have her own walk-in wardrobe if she wanted one

0:49:58 > 0:50:02'and the bathroom is equally generous in size.

0:50:02 > 0:50:05'Finally, there's one more bedroom to show them.'

0:50:06 > 0:50:07What do you think?

0:50:07 > 0:50:13It's a nice bedroom, a nice master. It's very much similar to the other rooms, actually, in style.

0:50:13 > 0:50:15It's all very sort of clean and clinical.

0:50:15 > 0:50:20It is at the moment. But can't you imagine your life in here, if you like?

0:50:20 > 0:50:23Do you think you'd be able to put your Jordan stamp on this building?

0:50:23 > 0:50:28I actually think this bedroom is too small for us to put our furniture in it.

0:50:28 > 0:50:32- OK.- Cos we have a lot of bedroom furniture. The bedroom of our old house was quite big.

0:50:32 > 0:50:36- Don't say no just yet.- OK.- Let's go and look at the grounds.- Okey-dokey.

0:50:36 > 0:50:40- Then you can make a decision. - That'd be lovely.- Sounds good. - Come on then.

0:50:40 > 0:50:42'OK. A few negatives upstairs,

0:50:42 > 0:50:46'but will the three-quarters of an acre of space outside sway them?'

0:50:47 > 0:50:52So this is your totally private side garden, if you like.

0:50:52 > 0:50:54Not overlooked at all.

0:50:54 > 0:50:56- It's gravel, so...- Yes.

0:50:56 > 0:50:59- Difficult for the boys to play football, I know.- Yes.

0:50:59 > 0:51:03- But there's the possibility of purchasing some land behind that fence.- OK.- OK.

0:51:03 > 0:51:05So, that's grass. What do you think?

0:51:05 > 0:51:08Yeah, I mean I don't really like the gravel,

0:51:08 > 0:51:12- but that interests me with the land behind, possibly.- Mm.

0:51:12 > 0:51:16I'm not sure if this is a property you'd want to buy. Maybe I'm wrong.

0:51:16 > 0:51:20But if you were going to put in an offer, how much do you think it's worth?

0:51:20 > 0:51:22I reckon...

0:51:22 > 0:51:25420,000.

0:51:26 > 0:51:28420,000.

0:51:28 > 0:51:29OK.

0:51:29 > 0:51:31I think that's too high.

0:51:31 > 0:51:33I'm going to go for 380.

0:51:33 > 0:51:35- 380?- Yep.

0:51:35 > 0:51:40- It's on the market for £335,000. - Really?- Hm.- Yeah.

0:51:40 > 0:51:44- Well within your budget, that chapel is.- It is, yeah.- Yes.

0:51:44 > 0:51:49- Do you want another look around? - Yep.- Yes, OK.- Go on then. - All right. See you in a bit.

0:51:49 > 0:51:52There was me thinking I was giving them a surefire hit.

0:51:52 > 0:51:5719th-century converted chapel with all the modern extras, and they want beams

0:51:57 > 0:51:58and uneven floors.

0:51:58 > 0:52:03I tell you, if I was going to live in a chapel, I'd probably live in one just like this but...

0:52:03 > 0:52:09I get the impression that this isn't a property where Mark and Dinah feel closer to God.

0:52:25 > 0:52:28Let's see what they think.

0:52:28 > 0:52:31I'm not sure the best use of the space has been made. I mean,

0:52:31 > 0:52:36- there's a lot of space up there. - Yeah.- And if the walls had been brought forward a bit,

0:52:36 > 0:52:41- there'd be more space for the bedrooms.- I think this old Baptist chapel is really good at the price,

0:52:41 > 0:52:45but the bedrooms are very small and we'd have to think about extending the garden,

0:52:45 > 0:52:47perhaps putting a conservatory on the back.

0:52:47 > 0:52:53I don't think we'd want to be going down that route, so probably this isn't a contender for us.

0:52:53 > 0:52:58The conversion from an old chapel... is good,

0:52:58 > 0:53:02but I don't think it's been converted in the right way to make the property right for us.

0:53:02 > 0:53:06By the time all our furniture comes in there, there wouldn't be the room we needed,

0:53:06 > 0:53:10If it had been converted into four large bedrooms, for us that would have been better.

0:53:10 > 0:53:16Ah, Dinah, Mark, that's it. The property search is over.

0:53:16 > 0:53:19- No more properties to see.- OK. - Huge smile on your face.

0:53:19 > 0:53:23Don't tell me what you think yet. Take your time. Think through the options.

0:53:23 > 0:53:26- All right.- How about we meet later? - For a drink?

0:53:26 > 0:53:29- Sounds like a plan to me.- OK. - Sounds good to me.

0:53:33 > 0:53:38Our journey is almost over. Mark and Dinah have now seen all the properties.

0:53:38 > 0:53:43It's only fair to give them a bit of thinking time to try and work out which, if any,

0:53:43 > 0:53:45are right for them.

0:53:49 > 0:53:52Let's talk about the properties you've viewed.

0:53:52 > 0:53:58- We'll start with the old farmhouse. - It was very old. We wanted something with character,

0:53:58 > 0:54:02but that was very old. The way, you know, the floorboards were sloping in some rooms.

0:54:02 > 0:54:08It was of very old character, which was older than we were actually really looking for.

0:54:08 > 0:54:12- Were there any positives? - I think the Georgian part of it.

0:54:12 > 0:54:17Straight walls and ceilings that didn't sag or bounce up and down was good.

0:54:17 > 0:54:20OK, what about the cottage in the heart of the village?

0:54:20 > 0:54:23Liked this one very much, really did.

0:54:23 > 0:54:27From the outside it looked nice. The school was opposite.

0:54:27 > 0:54:31- It just gave you that real wow factor.- It was so spacious.

0:54:31 > 0:54:34When you looked up, it was like being in a church.

0:54:34 > 0:54:38The kitchen was nicely done, the bedrooms had been well done.

0:54:38 > 0:54:42There wasn't much you could say that you didn't like about it.

0:54:42 > 0:54:43It was slightly over-budget

0:54:43 > 0:54:46and we're talking about what's Mark going to do for a study.

0:54:46 > 0:54:48That would mean more money.

0:54:48 > 0:54:53Moving on to the slightly remote converted house. I think you liked this one.

0:54:53 > 0:54:59- I would say it's probably close to my dream house.- Wow!

0:54:59 > 0:55:01I liked the sheer volume of space in that house.

0:55:01 > 0:55:05A lovely house, but it's quite a bit about community for me

0:55:05 > 0:55:08and I don't know if the community would be there.

0:55:08 > 0:55:09He said it was his dream home!

0:55:09 > 0:55:12It was CLOSE to being my dream house, I think I said!

0:55:12 > 0:55:16Right. Come on, then - why is it not your dream house?

0:55:16 > 0:55:18Pick it up and move it to the edge of the village.

0:55:18 > 0:55:21Other than that, it was my dream house.

0:55:21 > 0:55:24And finally, sent you back to Sunday school.

0:55:24 > 0:55:27- What do you think of the chapel? - It just hadn't quite been converted

0:55:27 > 0:55:31the way we would have liked it converted.

0:55:31 > 0:55:34- Any redeeming features? - The hallway, again, was lovely.

0:55:34 > 0:55:37It did give you that wow factor.

0:55:37 > 0:55:39So, not for you?

0:55:39 > 0:55:41No, I don't think so. Not for us.

0:55:41 > 0:55:43How long have you got left on your rented property?

0:55:43 > 0:55:46- About...- Five and a half months. - Yeah.

0:55:46 > 0:55:48- So, you've got to find somewhere quick.- Yes!

0:55:48 > 0:55:51I'm sensing that there's a choice of two here -

0:55:51 > 0:55:54the house in Haddenham and the remote house.

0:55:54 > 0:55:58Or has this experience said to you, let's rent our property for another six months?

0:55:58 > 0:56:00No! No way!

0:56:00 > 0:56:04- No way!- No! We're still desperate to find somewhere and move quickly.

0:56:04 > 0:56:08It could be one of these two houses but we desperately want to move.

0:56:08 > 0:56:12- That's excellent news! So, we've succeeded, in a way.- Yeah.- Yes.

0:56:15 > 0:56:19Mark and Dina's house hunting has gone remarkably well.

0:56:19 > 0:56:23They're really keen on two of the four properties we've shown them,

0:56:23 > 0:56:24but they had to find somewhere.

0:56:24 > 0:56:28They've sold their house, they're living in rented accommodation

0:56:28 > 0:56:29with time fast running out,

0:56:29 > 0:56:32but that added pressure seems to have focused their minds.

0:56:32 > 0:56:35They're really committed to this move.

0:56:35 > 0:56:37Maybe that's the incentive we all need

0:56:37 > 0:56:39when considering an escape to the country.

0:56:39 > 0:56:41Till next time, bye-bye.

0:56:41 > 0:56:45If you want to escape to the country and would like our help,
