0:00:02 > 0:00:04Hello and welcome to To Buy or Not to Buy.

0:00:04 > 0:00:06Today, we are in wet and windswept Weymouth.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08We've got a tough challenge today.

0:00:08 > 0:00:11It's a chance to turn a dream into reality.

0:00:21 > 0:00:25Creating a dream is not the task of a lone male or even lone female.

0:00:25 > 0:00:27It is, in fact, a group process.

0:00:27 > 0:00:31Yes, it's about people coming together and working in unison.

0:00:31 > 0:00:36We've got the mysterious property hunting team out finding three properties.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38Don't forget the estate agents.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41- Without them and their expertise, where would we be?- Nowhere.

0:00:41 > 0:00:46We've got estate agents and the mysterious property hunting team and us,

0:00:46 > 0:00:51- forming a writhing mass of co-operation. It is absolutely beautiful.- It is teamwork.

0:00:51 > 0:00:54- I'm off now.- Where are you going?

0:00:54 > 0:00:57To get a coffee, as everyone else is doing all the work. See you later.

0:01:00 > 0:01:05You'll have to get it later, it's time to say hello to our buyers.

0:01:05 > 0:01:09- All right, all right. - Meet Chris and Mike Hill.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12They have a dream - a dream of living by the sea.

0:01:12 > 0:01:15Which, at the moment, they couldn't be further from.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18- How do you mean? - They live in Welwyn Garden City,

0:01:18 > 0:01:22- about as far from the sea as you can get.- Certainly is a long way.

0:01:22 > 0:01:27They are based there because of Mike's job as an industrial software consultant.

0:01:27 > 0:01:32But as retirement beckons, they are making plans for a new life together on the south coast.

0:01:32 > 0:01:37This is one of those move and never move again missions that we get.

0:01:37 > 0:01:41Not to just get a house for the next few years, but for the rest of their lives.

0:01:41 > 0:01:46- Could you build this up more? I'm getting nervous. - I'll hold your hand, Ed.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51Are you looking for a holiday type of home

0:01:51 > 0:01:54or is this going to be your family home for the rest of your lives?

0:01:54 > 0:01:59- Yes, the latter.- So, what sort of area are you looking for?

0:01:59 > 0:02:03As long as it's close to the sea, that's the main thing.

0:02:03 > 0:02:08Where we are now is in the countryside and you can't get to the sea.

0:02:08 > 0:02:14Can you list the hobbies we're considering taking up and some that we've got?

0:02:14 > 0:02:16I'm always told I'm doing too many things in the U3A,

0:02:16 > 0:02:21- because I've joined lots of different clubs.- The U3A is...?

0:02:21 > 0:02:25The University of the Third Age, which anyone over 50 can join.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28There are 100 groups around the country.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32The University of the Third Age encourages you to be more artistic

0:02:32 > 0:02:35or is it a bit of everything?

0:02:35 > 0:02:38You can do what you like. Members decide what they want to do

0:02:38 > 0:02:40and if there isn't one, they can start one.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43I started an Italian for Beginners,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46even though I don't speak Italian, We taught ourselves.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48Now, we've got someone who teaches.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52What did you do before the teacher turned up in your Italian class?

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Did you just wander around eating pizza? What did you do?

0:02:55 > 0:03:02Did you guess Italian words? What did you do?

0:03:02 > 0:03:05We put CDs on and followed the course.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08What you want to do in Weymouth is far more outdoorsy, by the look of the list.

0:03:08 > 0:03:12Yes, I would like to get back to doing something on the water.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16- I'd love to crew for somebody with a big cruiser and do water skiing.- OK.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18- Right. - So some kind of aquatic sport.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21You're saying water-skiing. Would you like to have a boat?

0:03:21 > 0:03:23I'd like a boat that I could use for water-skiing

0:03:23 > 0:03:27and to get to different bays, to go and swim off small bays.

0:03:27 > 0:03:28This is amazing.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32You're going to have the busiest retirement ever, aren't you?

0:03:32 > 0:03:35- Well, that would be nice. - Yes.- Keep busy.

0:03:35 > 0:03:39And walking, I believe, is one of the things you want to do, Mike, coastal walking?

0:03:39 > 0:03:42Walking around areas where it's pretty and nice

0:03:42 > 0:03:46and I think the coast is a nice area to walk, just to carry on active sports, as well.

0:03:46 > 0:03:51- I like active sports. Something where there's aggression! - Ooh, aggression action sports!

0:03:51 > 0:03:54OK, Chris, what do you want from the house?

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Ideally, I'd love a swimming pool.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01- A swimming pool?- I'm hoping the budget's going to be up there.

0:04:01 > 0:04:03I don't think it will be.

0:04:03 > 0:04:05But you never know. Let's dream a dream.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08- Fingers crossed.- How many bedrooms are you looking at?

0:04:08 > 0:04:10Including the studies, we want four.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13- Four bedrooms.- At least three good sized ones.

0:04:13 > 0:04:18- Three good sized, because we're going to have relatives to stay? - Yes. Grandchild.- Right, yes.

0:04:18 > 0:04:22- And a detached property, presumably? - Yes.- Yes.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Do we want an elaborate kitchen, a kitchen diner, a separate diner?

0:04:25 > 0:04:27How do we want the downstairs?

0:04:27 > 0:04:29We'd like a nice sized kitchen,

0:04:29 > 0:04:31where we could probably eat in the kitchen as well.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34OK. Do we want old, new, do you want a bungalow,

0:04:34 > 0:04:37do you not want a bungalow, what do you want?

0:04:37 > 0:04:39I don't particularly want a bungalow.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42There's a lot around here that will be bungalow-style.

0:04:42 > 0:04:44It depends if it's a nice bungalow.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47All right then. Do you want to do...?

0:04:47 > 0:04:49Well, what sort of budget do you have, then?

0:04:49 > 0:04:51With the help of a mortgage,

0:04:51 > 0:04:53because we're going to rent it for a couple of years

0:04:53 > 0:04:56and we can pay it off when we sell our house,

0:04:56 > 0:04:58we thought we could manage about 550.

0:04:58 > 0:04:59That's a good amount down here.

0:04:59 > 0:05:03Have you looked around, done the internet searches? Have you struggled?

0:05:03 > 0:05:04I have struggled.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07That's why I came online and asked for your help.

0:05:07 > 0:05:11- We're going to remedy that, hopefully.- Fingers crossed.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14Wish us luck, and we'll see you later.

0:05:14 > 0:05:15OK.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19I've got to admit, Chris has inspired me with her U3A thing

0:05:19 > 0:05:24and Italian club. We can start our own house club, almost today.

0:05:24 > 0:05:26We could and we can call it U3A2,

0:05:26 > 0:05:30because it could stand for Unique Three Abodes.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34Perfect, to get our club stripes, what do we need to do?

0:05:34 > 0:05:37She wants a swimming pool. I'll be honest, it's not going to happen.

0:05:37 > 0:05:40Even though they've got £550,000, they can't get one.

0:05:40 > 0:05:44- Four bedrooms, though?- They can have that. Let's make it happen!

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Today's search brings us

0:05:49 > 0:05:52to the popular seaside town of Weymouth on the West Dorset coast.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55The grand esplanade, built in the Georgian

0:05:55 > 0:05:59and Regency period gives some clue to the town's historic heyday as a holiday destination,

0:05:59 > 0:06:03when George III used to bathe here during his reign.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07It was from this period the English seaside holiday was born.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10And with statistically the sunniest climate in the UK,

0:06:10 > 0:06:14you can see why holidaymakers have been flocking here ever since.

0:06:14 > 0:06:17But soon, the town will be placed firmly on the global map.

0:06:17 > 0:06:21The sailing events for the 2012 Olympics are going to be held here and in nearby Portland.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24And signs of the boost for the local economy

0:06:24 > 0:06:26are already in evidence.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29With house prices expected to rise in the run-up to the Olympics,

0:06:29 > 0:06:33it's got to be a great time for Mike and Chris to take the plunge

0:06:33 > 0:06:35into the local property market.

0:06:35 > 0:06:36But the big question is,

0:06:36 > 0:06:39what will Chris and Mike's budget of £550,000

0:06:39 > 0:06:42get you in other coastal areas of the UK?

0:06:42 > 0:06:44If DIY isn't your thing,

0:06:44 > 0:06:48check out this detached four-bed in Drayton near Portsmouth.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51It's just been completely redone from top to bottom.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54The property boasts a luxury kitchen with peninsula breakfast bar

0:06:54 > 0:06:56and a high-spec bathroom.

0:06:56 > 0:07:00Yours for £485,000.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03Or if it's period charm on a grand scale you're after,

0:07:03 > 0:07:07this semi-detached Victorian residence in Penzance could be for you.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10With five double bedrooms and three large reception rooms,

0:07:10 > 0:07:14there's no shortage of space and it's only a short walk to the beach.

0:07:14 > 0:07:18On the market for £475,000.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20Last, but certainly not least,

0:07:20 > 0:07:23this detached house in the Derriford area of Plymouth.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26This four-bedroom property is a fine example

0:07:26 > 0:07:30of 1930s architecture, set in its own private and established grounds.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32The price? £525,000.

0:07:33 > 0:07:37That's the rest of the UK taken care of. Now back to Weymouth

0:07:37 > 0:07:39and today's search.

0:07:39 > 0:07:42Around this area, if you've got half a million quid to spend,

0:07:42 > 0:07:46you want four bedrooms, a nice back garden

0:07:46 > 0:07:49and you have about 25,000 hobbies,

0:07:49 > 0:07:51which our couple do have, where's a good area?

0:07:51 > 0:07:54Sutton Points is probably my favourite village.

0:07:54 > 0:07:56It's got a great local park, a village pond,

0:07:56 > 0:07:59beautiful houses, all sitting at the foot of the White Horse.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02So, quite an iconic local landmark, as well.

0:08:02 > 0:08:07If they wanted to be, say five or ten minutes from the sea...

0:08:07 > 0:08:12- Yes.- ..and they wanted to be able to go on walks

0:08:12 > 0:08:14and really have the great outdoors?

0:08:14 > 0:08:17- That's possible from Preston. - Right.- Yes.

0:08:17 > 0:08:20- Is that where you live? - Near there, yes.- Right.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22So you're biased, aren't you?

0:08:22 > 0:08:23THEY LAUGH

0:08:23 > 0:08:25- Portland, very nice.- Yes, fantastic.

0:08:25 > 0:08:29- Where's more expensive? Portland or Weymouth?- Weymouth.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32- Portland, so she could get a bit more for her money.- She could.

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Styles of property there, what are they like?

0:08:35 > 0:08:39There's been habitation there for about 7,000 years,

0:08:39 > 0:08:42largely speaking, based on the quarrying industry.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45And you can get really unique stone cutters' cottages.

0:08:45 > 0:08:48Lots of people round here go kite surfing,

0:08:48 > 0:08:52lots of people go surfing, locally, in local areas, as well.

0:08:52 > 0:08:57It's like a year-long holiday, in terms of what you can do.

0:08:57 > 0:08:58I've got a job, as well!

0:08:58 > 0:08:59THEY LAUGH

0:08:59 > 0:09:02Are there lots of clubs and things to do here?

0:09:02 > 0:09:05I think it's a Mecca for places like that.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07Each village has its own community centre

0:09:07 > 0:09:09and really busy calendar of activities.

0:09:09 > 0:09:11And what about Portland?

0:09:11 > 0:09:14- I work on Portland.- Do you? - Portland's also very spectacular.

0:09:14 > 0:09:18- You work at the prison? - I do.- Aren't I clever?- Yes.

0:09:18 > 0:09:22- If she's a birdwatcher, like me... Are you?- I'm a twitcher.

0:09:22 > 0:09:26People are a little bit fussy about being called twitchers.

0:09:26 > 0:09:30I'm a little uncomfortable, but I'm settling into it.

0:09:30 > 0:09:34- Do the prisoners get a great sea view?- Yes, actually, they do!

0:09:34 > 0:09:38There are some who have a brilliant view of the Jurassic coast.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40Should it be achievable for half a million?

0:09:40 > 0:09:42Definitely. They should have money to spare.

0:09:42 > 0:09:46- Is there anything you don't know about the area?- Not really.

0:09:46 > 0:09:47The birds, even the stone, everything.

0:09:51 > 0:09:52What are you doing?!

0:09:52 > 0:09:54I've got a new hobby.

0:09:54 > 0:09:57Chris has inspired me with her 7,000 hobbies.

0:09:57 > 0:10:00- This is my new one, skateboarding. - Can I have a go?

0:10:00 > 0:10:02No, you can't. It's my hobby.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05- Property hunting, how's it gone for you?- Fantastic.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07Four, potentially five-bedroom property.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10Part of the property is built in the 18th century

0:10:10 > 0:10:13and part in the 20th century.

0:10:13 > 0:10:17And it really works and you can hear the sea from one of the windows.

0:10:17 > 0:10:22Now, my one caught my eye because of one word,

0:10:22 > 0:10:25"Executive." It is a cracker. It's massive.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28My concern here is...

0:10:28 > 0:10:31I've got them almost too much and within their budget.

0:10:31 > 0:10:35It's very near the centre of Weymouth, so not where yours is.

0:10:35 > 0:10:39Very lovely, good rental value for their long-distance plan of renting it out.

0:10:39 > 0:10:40But the wild card...

0:10:40 > 0:10:43- Normally, sometimes, we don't show the viewers.- No.

0:10:43 > 0:10:47We don't want to spoil the surprise, but here, I can show you.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50- And I've still not shown you. - You can't see anything.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53It's hidden behind a bush. it's a different style of house.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56- Where shall we start? - My one.- Property one.

0:10:56 > 0:11:00I'm off on my new hobby, I'll see you there later.

0:11:03 > 0:11:07For my property, I've gone just over the causeway to Portland,

0:11:07 > 0:11:09about three miles south of Weymouth.

0:11:09 > 0:11:11This versatile...

0:11:11 > 0:11:16Ooh, "versatile", you're getting into the estate agent patter!

0:11:16 > 0:11:20Yes, Ed! This versatile five-bedroom detached period cottage

0:11:20 > 0:11:23is a real beauty and it's a stone's throw from the sea.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26Don't you mean a Portland stone's throw?

0:11:26 > 0:11:31So, Chris, Mike, we are on the peninsula of Portland.

0:11:31 > 0:11:35What you see in front of you is Portland stone.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38Did you enjoy the drive up here? Do you know this area?

0:11:38 > 0:11:42We visited once before with friends, but never as far as here,

0:11:42 > 0:11:45just to see the monument at the top.

0:11:45 > 0:11:47What have you thought so far? The view is spectacular.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50- It is. - Let's hope it is from the house, too.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53What can you see ahead of you now?

0:11:53 > 0:11:56A lovely stone building, which he will love, he likes stone.

0:11:56 > 0:11:59- We're onto a good thing having Portland stone?- Yes.

0:11:59 > 0:12:02Do you want as much character as this? Are we hitting the mark?

0:12:02 > 0:12:05Has Nikki found something that's up your alley?

0:12:05 > 0:12:08Mike, you're going to like it, but Chris?

0:12:08 > 0:12:13Yes, I love character houses, as well. I like modern and character.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15I've failed you on one count.

0:12:15 > 0:12:17- No swimming pool?- Correct!

0:12:17 > 0:12:19SHE LAUGHS

0:12:19 > 0:12:23- I think that could be a theme today.- Yes, I think it might be.

0:12:23 > 0:12:25- Are you ready? - Any Jacuzzis anywhere? No?

0:12:25 > 0:12:29There's always potential for a Jacuzzi, as my old vicar used to tell me.

0:12:29 > 0:12:33- In three, two, one, enter the house!- Enjoy.- Lovely.

0:12:36 > 0:12:37Ooh.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Nice wooden staircase.

0:12:40 > 0:12:41Gosh.

0:12:43 > 0:12:49- This is the lounge, this is huge. - Oh, wow. This is a nice lounge. - This is really nice.

0:12:49 > 0:12:52- It's lovely.- Look at the fireplace.

0:12:52 > 0:12:56Is that a real log burner? I think it is.

0:12:56 > 0:13:00You said this when you first walked in, it's nice and warm.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03I'm getting to an age when I appreciate warmth.

0:13:03 > 0:13:07I think it's very cosy at the same time as being quite big,

0:13:07 > 0:13:10which is surprising, to have cosy and big.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13It's a nice size. we can get our furniture in easily.

0:13:13 > 0:13:17Don't do that before you've bought the house, that would be silly.

0:13:17 > 0:13:19You would infringe on the rights of the owners.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22Always best to buy a house before you move in!

0:13:23 > 0:13:25Oh...

0:13:25 > 0:13:28Lovely nice, big conservatory,

0:13:28 > 0:13:31where you can sit and have your breakfast.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34Get your table, sit in the sun.

0:13:34 > 0:13:35It's very secluded, anyway.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38- Not quite as big a garden as we'd hoped for.- It's quite nice.

0:13:38 > 0:13:42It might be easier to keep when I get a bit older.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45Well, now, with the hobbies they're going to have,

0:13:45 > 0:13:48which include water-skiing, windsurfing...

0:13:48 > 0:13:52- Hang-gliding from the open windows.- They want a motorbike.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55They haven't got time for gardening, quite frankly.

0:13:55 > 0:13:59And I notice the back of the garage. looks like it could be used as a workshop,

0:13:59 > 0:14:03so I could get back to doing a bit of woodwork if I find a class.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07This is another hobby. Woodwork? Did you remember that? Woodwork?

0:14:09 > 0:14:12- Oh, it goes round the corner. - It's quite big.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14It looks small at first.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Nothing fitted in, but it's quite nice.

0:14:24 > 0:14:28Gosh, I didn't think there was another room.

0:14:28 > 0:14:29It's like a little TARDIS.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32This is the breakfast-room, we don't have to eat at the bar.

0:14:32 > 0:14:36You've got three areas you can eat here.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38Three areas!

0:14:38 > 0:14:39Not one, not two...

0:15:20 > 0:15:22they have got other things to be doing.

0:15:22 > 0:15:25They don't want to overlook, even if they could.

0:15:36 > 0:15:38I need a sewing room and for all my other hobbies.

0:15:38 > 0:15:43- Now, here is the noise that we wanted - "Oh!".- I wanted this noise.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46And it has happened. And you know why? That big sewing machine.

0:15:46 > 0:15:50Going to look in the cupboard, see what's in here.

0:16:19 > 0:16:22Has it got a shower? Yes, it has.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26That is what we need. We like our showers.

0:16:27 > 0:16:28Last room upstairs.

0:16:30 > 0:16:31Yet another bedroom.

0:16:31 > 0:16:33This is a reasonable sized one.

0:16:35 > 0:16:38Can you go out to the outside garden, then?

0:16:40 > 0:16:43Now you can actually... You can actually see now...

0:16:43 > 0:16:46Is it a castle or what, next door?

0:16:46 > 0:16:48It is a castle.

0:16:48 > 0:16:52It was built in the 1800s, so it is a very new one, in castle terms.

0:16:52 > 0:16:54In any other, it's old, but in castle terms, it's young.

0:16:54 > 0:16:59- I think the actual downstairs, I like.- I love it, yes.

0:16:59 > 0:17:01It's just upstairs lacks a couple of features.

0:17:01 > 0:17:04It is a lovely lounge, nice conservatory.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07Great having the other little dining area as well.

0:17:07 > 0:17:09If you look round, nobody is around.

0:17:09 > 0:17:12And you have got the garage and the other areas,

0:17:35 > 0:17:42So, your impressions of my beautiful five-bedroomed Portland stone home,

0:17:42 > 0:17:46with a view of the sea and everything you want.

0:17:46 > 0:17:48It's lovely, full of character.

0:17:48 > 0:17:53I'd like an en-suite, but I think you can probably pop one in there.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55- An en-suite upstairs?- Yes.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59Did you look to the left when you went upstairs?

0:17:59 > 0:18:02There is the huge cupboard space.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05An en-suite is so easy to plumb in and it wouldn't even cost you

0:18:05 > 0:18:08that much money, so don't see that as a negative.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10No, it has pretty much everything.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12Mike, what did you like?

0:18:12 > 0:18:14I like the downstairs very much.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17Very comfortable to live in.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20I can see myself sitting in the lounge and relaxing.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23So you mentally put yourself in an armchair?

0:18:23 > 0:18:26I did, it was very cosy and the cats would like it.

0:18:26 > 0:18:30You're thinking about getting a camper van or something like that?

0:18:30 > 0:18:33Look up there, that is possibly going to be big enough.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36And if it isn't, you have got that down there, as well.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38I fancy that for my woodworking room.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41This is a new hobby again!

0:18:41 > 0:18:42How many do you have?

0:18:42 > 0:18:47I used to do a course in woodworking, but I'm no good on my own.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50If I can find a course, I can do it in there.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53Do you want to play guess the price?

0:18:55 > 0:18:58We are playing with a budget of £550,000. Mike?

0:18:58 > 0:19:02I will say 510.

0:19:02 > 0:19:04You said prices have started to go up,

0:19:04 > 0:19:07so perhaps a little more, maybe 520.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09520? OK.

0:19:09 > 0:19:17You're both under, but you're closest, because it is actually 550.

0:19:17 > 0:19:19But remember, you are in a great haggling position,

0:19:19 > 0:19:23because you've got nothing to sell and they have already moved out,

0:19:23 > 0:19:25so there is room for negotiation, I would say.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28That said, I don't want you to move into here.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31- I want you to move into my one, property two.- I expect you do.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33I am sorry about that. Shall we go and look at it? Come on.

0:19:36 > 0:19:39If you are looking for a four-bedroom detached

0:19:39 > 0:19:41property in Weymouth, look no further.

0:19:41 > 0:19:44It's three storeys of beautifully presented Victorian charm

0:19:44 > 0:19:48with a mass of period features. Stunning.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50Sorry, did I say four bedrooms? I meant five.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Very nice, very nice,

0:19:52 > 0:19:54but it's only Mike and Chris who are going to live here.

0:19:54 > 0:19:58That is my only concern - have I given them too much?

0:19:59 > 0:20:03Mike and Chris, we are no longer in the Portland Peninsular,

0:20:03 > 0:20:06we are here in Weymouth.

0:20:06 > 0:20:07Just have a look at that.

0:20:07 > 0:20:09That is a house, isn't it?

0:20:09 > 0:20:11A house and a half.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13The other was near a castle, but this is a house.

0:20:13 > 0:20:19You said you wanted four bedrooms, this has got four bedrooms

0:20:19 > 0:20:21and then some. Mike?

0:20:21 > 0:20:23It seems a nice size to me.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27I like the brickwork, it looks nice and modern.

0:20:27 > 0:20:29The back garden is huge.

0:20:29 > 0:20:31Much bigger than yours, Nikki?

0:20:31 > 0:20:32It is, it is.

0:20:32 > 0:20:35I have to be honest, this is stunning.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39Are you excited to go in?

0:20:39 > 0:20:40Yes, I like it.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43The good thing is there's nothing that needs to be done,

0:20:43 > 0:20:47so you can spend all of your time doing your myriad of hobbies.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50Three, two, one - enter that beautiful property!

0:20:56 > 0:20:59I love the flooring.

0:20:59 > 0:21:02On a rainy day like today, you appreciate that, don't you?

0:21:02 > 0:21:06Huge, isn't it? And nice seeing the open staircase.

0:21:06 > 0:21:08(We're going to whisper, because they are just there.

0:21:08 > 0:21:12(We have to be very, very quiet. But she is right.

0:21:13 > 0:21:16(Because it rains an awful lot in this country,

0:21:16 > 0:21:19(a tiled entrance is very handy.)

0:21:19 > 0:21:22- (And apart from handy, it is absolutely stunning.- True.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24(And handy.)

0:21:24 > 0:21:26I think I might have used this as the dining room.

0:21:26 > 0:21:31It is quite comfy, I think this would be quite nice with the fire.

0:21:31 > 0:21:34I think I would paint the radiators white.

0:21:34 > 0:21:38I thought that, I thought I don't want a brown radiator.

0:21:38 > 0:21:41It takes me back to my parents' house.

0:21:41 > 0:21:42I thought it would.

0:21:42 > 0:21:47Did you used to have ceiling roses like that in your old house?

0:21:47 > 0:21:50In the hallway, we did. We had the same height ceilings.

0:21:50 > 0:21:54There we go, a bit of an emotional journey.

0:21:54 > 0:21:55Yes, nostalgia.

0:21:55 > 0:21:59It's always quite nice when something is familiar, isn't it?

0:21:59 > 0:22:04Oh, goodness. This is the main lounge. Oh, wow.

0:22:04 > 0:22:06So I could have that as the dining room -

0:22:06 > 0:22:10unless there's a dining room somewhere else, as well!

0:22:10 > 0:22:11Wallpaper.

0:22:13 > 0:22:15Is it wallpaper? It's painted walls.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19I think that would have to go white again.

0:22:19 > 0:22:20I like a little bit of red.

0:22:20 > 0:22:26Hang on a minute, do you know that show with John Craven?

0:22:26 > 0:22:27Oh, Countryfile?

0:22:27 > 0:22:30Yeah. I think if Mike was on that show,

0:22:30 > 0:22:33it would be called "Paint-a-wall-a-white-a-file".

0:22:33 > 0:22:36He just wants to paint everything white.

0:22:36 > 0:22:38He wants to paint the radiators white, the walls white.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42Ah, look at that garden, Mike.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46Isn't that great? It is a long garden.

0:22:48 > 0:22:49Nice long depth.

0:22:49 > 0:22:55I like the way Mike described that - it's got a "nice long depth".

0:22:55 > 0:22:56And it does.

0:22:56 > 0:22:59Let's have a look in here.

0:22:59 > 0:23:04More wooden floors. Got that lovely flooring through there.

0:23:05 > 0:23:09And is this granite? Real granite? I think it is.

0:23:09 > 0:23:12It feels like it. Like ours in our kitchen.

0:23:12 > 0:23:14- I love granite tops.- That is nice.

0:23:14 > 0:23:19Look, you have got your fridge down here, as well. Washing machine.

0:23:19 > 0:23:21Oh, yes. It's all in there.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24What I like to call this, Nikki - I don't know

0:23:24 > 0:23:28if you have heard this phrase - it is a "loo-tility" area.

0:23:28 > 0:23:32A toilet and a utility area - a "loo-tility" area.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35I'm trying to get it in the Oxford English Dictionary.

0:23:35 > 0:23:38Why isn't it "toi-til.." "Toil-tility" area?

0:23:38 > 0:23:41Because you can't say it. "Loo-tility" area.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46This is a good size, as well.

0:23:46 > 0:23:48Separate dining rooms, that's good.

0:23:48 > 0:23:52There is one, two, three, four... Keeps going up.

0:23:52 > 0:23:53Let's look in here.

0:23:55 > 0:23:57Oh, gosh!

0:23:57 > 0:24:01Keep this room nice and warm, two radiators in it. Another fire.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04Yes, I like all the fireplaces.

0:24:04 > 0:24:06I spotted this, isn't it fabulous?

0:24:06 > 0:24:08Old-fashioned bathroom.

0:24:08 > 0:24:11Oh, my goodness, is that big enough for you, dear?

0:24:11 > 0:24:15- For your shower in the morning? - A decent shower.

0:24:15 > 0:24:17Isn't this wonderful?

0:24:17 > 0:24:20Is that what they call a roll-top bath?

0:24:20 > 0:24:25- Do you know what it actually is? It is a slipper bath.- Yes.

0:24:25 > 0:24:27- Is that because of the shape?- Yes.

0:24:30 > 0:24:34Old-fashioned toilet as well, a pull chain right in the air.

0:24:34 > 0:24:36Oh, yes.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39It is a mixture of old and new,

0:24:39 > 0:24:42like Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas.

0:24:44 > 0:24:45Another big room.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49A lot of bed space there.

0:24:49 > 0:24:51It is good for a double room.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54A double bed, that is all we need. The loft.

0:24:56 > 0:24:58Well, what was the loft, anyway.

0:24:58 > 0:25:00- It is quite spacious.- It is.

0:25:00 > 0:25:04Oh, it has got my name on the door - Chris.

0:25:04 > 0:25:08Do you know when I went off earlier on and went out to the name shop

0:25:08 > 0:25:12- to buy names for doors and I got the name "Chris" screwed on to the door?- No.

0:25:12 > 0:25:17Well, I did and it's paid off. It's made her feel more at home.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19Another red room.

0:25:19 > 0:25:23You see, I like this, yellow and red together.

0:25:23 > 0:25:27It's not so overpowering now, cos it's only a couple of walls.

0:25:27 > 0:25:30Look at that window with the red inside and the yellow around it.

0:25:30 > 0:25:31It's really sweet.

0:25:31 > 0:25:36Space for another double bed.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39So that's the third room you can get a double bed in.

0:25:39 > 0:25:41Or the fourth, because...

0:25:41 > 0:25:43They're all big rooms, you'd get doubles in all of them.

0:25:43 > 0:25:47Upstairs, three bedrooms on the top floor.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50It's just ridiculous, the amount of bedrooms.

0:25:50 > 0:25:54We've been here for hours, the temperature has changed outside.

0:25:54 > 0:25:55It is going dark.

0:25:55 > 0:25:58I've got to get home for my tea I can't be here much longer.

0:26:00 > 0:26:03Into the room called after you, dear.

0:26:03 > 0:26:06This is my room, is this where you're going to lock me away?

0:26:06 > 0:26:09This is even bigger.

0:26:09 > 0:26:11This is my room, thank you.

0:26:11 > 0:26:14They have made use of the loft properly. The height again.

0:26:14 > 0:26:17You're not going to bump your head.

0:26:17 > 0:26:20Normally you are going to bang your head in these things,

0:26:20 > 0:26:22but no chance in here.

0:26:22 > 0:26:26So these three bedrooms have got a shower. That is lovely.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29It is like having a separate en-suite up here.

0:26:31 > 0:26:36Mike and Chris, I think this place tickled your fancy, didn't it?

0:26:36 > 0:26:40And you loved the bathroom.

0:26:40 > 0:26:42What isn't there to love about that bathroom?

0:26:42 > 0:26:45My question is, is it too big, almost?

0:26:45 > 0:26:46The house or the bathroom?

0:26:46 > 0:26:51Everything. The house, the land, is it too big?

0:26:51 > 0:26:56I think we can cope with this one quite easily. I quite like it.

0:26:56 > 0:26:59I think it is spacious, we can spread out instead of being cramped.

0:26:59 > 0:27:05- So we quite fancy the idea of this property?- I think so.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07I think the attic is fantastic.

0:27:07 > 0:27:13I have to say, I heard a lot of, "Wow! Love it! Wonderful!"

0:27:13 > 0:27:17Some very positive words. What about the garden? Do you like that?

0:27:17 > 0:27:21Yes, I think it is laid out nicely, like a garden should be.

0:27:21 > 0:27:26- Guess the price time.- Oh, gosh.

0:27:26 > 0:27:29You were the closest last time, Chris.

0:27:29 > 0:27:30So who should start?

0:27:30 > 0:27:34I think Mike went first last time, so Chris should go.

0:27:34 > 0:27:38Maximum budget of £550,000.

0:27:38 > 0:27:42The thing is, because I like this one slightly more,

0:27:42 > 0:27:46I would put it as more, but perhaps it's not worth more.

0:27:46 > 0:27:48Oh, come on, woman.

0:27:48 > 0:27:51- I would pay more for this. - How much?- 560.

0:27:51 > 0:27:56I think it would be less, around 540.

0:27:56 > 0:27:58You are closest, Mike.

0:27:58 > 0:28:04The actual price is £534,950.

0:28:05 > 0:28:06It is less than your budget.

0:28:06 > 0:28:09Sometimes people value with their heart

0:28:09 > 0:28:11because of how much they like it.

0:28:11 > 0:28:15You could negotiate on that because of the position you're in.

0:28:15 > 0:28:21It's really good, it is lovely, but there is one more to go to.

0:28:21 > 0:28:25Do you want to see the wild card or just buy this one?

0:28:25 > 0:28:28Ooh, we will have a look at the wild card.

0:28:28 > 0:28:29It's this way.

0:28:32 > 0:28:34Yes, it is that time again,

0:28:34 > 0:28:38the moment you've all been waiting for - the wild card.

0:28:38 > 0:28:41It is a beautifully presented four-bedroom detached property

0:28:41 > 0:28:44in the upmarket Sutton Points, on the outskirts of Weymouth.

0:28:44 > 0:28:46It is located close to the coast

0:28:46 > 0:28:48and closer to the Dorset countryside.

0:28:48 > 0:28:51If Mike and Chris can get past one key issue,

0:28:51 > 0:28:53I think they are going to love it.

0:28:53 > 0:28:57So, Mike, Chris, this is the property that, generally,

0:28:57 > 0:28:59people get most excited about.

0:28:59 > 0:29:01I am very excited.

0:29:01 > 0:29:03And they know nothing about it.

0:29:03 > 0:29:05And not only that,

0:29:05 > 0:29:07you can't really see any of it, can you?

0:29:07 > 0:29:09That is my first impression.

0:29:09 > 0:29:12You can't see it, which means it is nice and secluded.

0:29:12 > 0:29:14So that is a good thing for you? Good.

0:29:14 > 0:29:18You saw from the road and you have figured out what, so far?

0:29:18 > 0:29:20We think it is a bungalow.

0:29:20 > 0:29:22Are you averse to bungalows?

0:29:22 > 0:29:25We wanted to see one for the wild card.

0:29:25 > 0:29:26We hadn't originally wanted one

0:29:26 > 0:29:29and thought it would be nice to be converted.

0:29:29 > 0:29:34- People have recommended a bungalow for older age.- Don't say that!

0:29:34 > 0:29:38This does not seem like it is a bungalow for an older generation.

0:29:38 > 0:29:43This is really, really quite modern, and fabulous and I like it.

0:29:43 > 0:29:45I am excited now.

0:29:45 > 0:29:46Now, if it was a lovely day

0:29:46 > 0:29:50and we wanted to spend more time outside, the White Horse is

0:29:50 > 0:29:53on one of the hills outside here, think it is that way.

0:29:53 > 0:29:57You can see that from the house, the owner said in the garden.

0:29:57 > 0:29:59I think the chalk has worn off it slightly.

0:29:59 > 0:30:02That could be another project for you, another hobby.

0:30:02 > 0:30:06Challenge Anneka did it in 1989, that is 20 years ago.

0:30:06 > 0:30:08So it could do with a buff-up.

0:30:11 > 0:30:16So, knowing that you have got at least one hobby already to add to,

0:30:16 > 0:30:19if you move here, and there is a hobby that you will discover,

0:30:19 > 0:30:21do you want to enter into the wild card?

0:30:21 > 0:30:23- Yes, we definitely do. Enjoy!- Go!

0:30:33 > 0:30:35- This is a nice size.- Open plan.

0:30:36 > 0:30:42- Totally different to the other two that we saw.- Quite a nice cosy area.

0:30:42 > 0:30:44I like that. Put your feet up on that.

0:30:44 > 0:30:46I think I have just about finished.

0:30:46 > 0:30:49You can take your hat off and come in.

0:30:49 > 0:30:51I do quite like the hat.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54I have done quite a good job there, haven't I?

0:30:54 > 0:30:55It doesn't look a bit like me.

0:30:55 > 0:30:58I like the windows, as well.

0:30:58 > 0:31:01They're not the normal white, they are nice and brown.

0:31:01 > 0:31:06They have got blinds to pull down, blinds and curtains.

0:31:06 > 0:31:10And you're sitting here and no-one can see because of the hedges.

0:31:10 > 0:31:15Yes, so you can sit in here quite comfortably, not too much of a problem.

0:31:15 > 0:31:19Ed, is that inch of it a Van Gogh?

0:31:19 > 0:31:23He never wore headphones and presented a property programme.

0:31:23 > 0:31:27- He had one ear, though. - I will give you that.

0:31:29 > 0:31:32This is a nice bedroom.

0:31:32 > 0:31:37- I think this is the spare bedroom, is it?- I'm not sure.

0:31:37 > 0:31:39I think it might be the main, but who knows?

0:31:39 > 0:31:40I don't think it is.

0:31:40 > 0:31:43The same windows. Central heating again.

0:31:43 > 0:31:47I tell you what - Mike, I don't know how much he talks about heating

0:31:47 > 0:31:52and radiators in his normal life, but today, that is his department.

0:31:52 > 0:31:55- He is happy with it.- Instantly.

0:31:55 > 0:31:58Oh my goodness, this is a big room.

0:31:58 > 0:32:00This is the master bedroom.

0:32:00 > 0:32:04It definitely wasn't the master bedroom next door.

0:32:04 > 0:32:09- They've got some fabulous furniture. - Look through here.

0:32:09 > 0:32:12Now Chris has fallen in love with the furniture.

0:32:12 > 0:32:14You thought they would do.

0:32:14 > 0:32:19I did, because it does something for the whole building.

0:32:19 > 0:32:23The building is really simple lines, but the way that they have

0:32:23 > 0:32:25chosen their furniture, the couple who own it,

0:32:25 > 0:32:29it makes it not only a home, but slightly glamorous and exotic.

0:32:29 > 0:32:30Let's have a look this way.

0:32:30 > 0:32:34- A little television.- A little one.

0:32:34 > 0:32:39- That would be fantastic for the bed. - Yes, well, what a bed.

0:32:39 > 0:32:43- And the front of the house is well sheltered again.- Yes, it is.

0:32:43 > 0:32:47Mike loves privacy - and this house gives you privacy.

0:32:47 > 0:32:50Oh, that is nice.

0:32:51 > 0:32:53A Jacuzzi bath!

0:32:53 > 0:32:54That will keep you happy.

0:32:54 > 0:32:57They haven't got me a swimming pool, but at least a Jacuzzi.

0:32:57 > 0:32:59Here is the shower.

0:32:59 > 0:33:01That is quite a big one.

0:33:01 > 0:33:05- That's everything for an en-suite. - It's just the right size.

0:33:05 > 0:33:09Yeah. And I like the floor.

0:33:09 > 0:33:12Yeah, I like tiled flooring. Well, this is a walk-in wardrobe.

0:33:12 > 0:33:18- Goodness me, it goes all the way down.- This is huge.

0:33:18 > 0:33:21It's fabulous, isn't it? We've never had a walk-in wardrobe.

0:33:21 > 0:33:23It goes all the way round the back.

0:33:23 > 0:33:26That's incredible.

0:33:26 > 0:33:28Let's see what the kitchen looks like, then.

0:33:28 > 0:33:31Oh, we could fit my sideboard in quite happily.

0:33:31 > 0:33:34- Oh, look at this kitchen.- Oh, gosh.

0:33:34 > 0:33:36They don't do anything by halves, do they?

0:33:36 > 0:33:39Oh, you've got a bar to sit at...

0:33:39 > 0:33:42A table to sit at, with bar chairs.

0:33:42 > 0:33:45- Carpeted, as well.- Hey, we've got a couple of arches here.

0:33:45 > 0:33:47- It's an artist's studio.- Here we go.

0:33:47 > 0:33:51- Isn't this fabulous? - It's lovely, isn't it?

0:33:51 > 0:33:54- Don't mind us.- So, this is definitely a workroom.

0:33:54 > 0:33:57OK, let's have a look, back to the kitchen.

0:33:57 > 0:33:59These beams are nice.

0:34:01 > 0:34:04- Wow.- This is the living area. - This is great, isn't it?

0:34:04 > 0:34:07Everything, this one. Nice windows.

0:34:07 > 0:34:09A huge area for eating here.

0:34:09 > 0:34:11Look at the patio area.

0:34:11 > 0:34:15I know, I'm dying to... Shame it's not sunny today, isn't it?

0:34:15 > 0:34:19- Let's see what we have here. - An office.- So, you've bagged the one upstairs, dear.

0:34:19 > 0:34:22- And this is yours.- And this is mine.

0:34:22 > 0:34:24It's just the right size.

0:34:24 > 0:34:26Oh, you'll love this. It's perfect for you.

0:34:26 > 0:34:31- Now, Chris stuck her flagpole in this room.- She did.

0:34:31 > 0:34:33And it wasn't budging for love nor money.

0:34:33 > 0:34:36I think Chris was slightly concerned that Mike might not have an office.

0:34:36 > 0:34:39She's got one, she's given him the beautiful office.

0:34:39 > 0:34:40That's love, isn't it?

0:34:40 > 0:34:43- Shall we sit down for a second? - We can do.

0:34:44 > 0:34:47Well, it's two double bedrooms.

0:34:47 > 0:34:51- Both reasonable sizes. - They're good.- The master bedroom is fantastic.- Fantastic, yes.

0:34:54 > 0:34:59So, Mike and Chris, you have had a look around the wild card.

0:34:59 > 0:35:01You saw nothing from the outside

0:35:01 > 0:35:04because it was so secluded - your word.

0:35:04 > 0:35:06What have you seen inside?

0:35:06 > 0:35:08- Open-plan.- Mm-hm.

0:35:08 > 0:35:10- Amazing space.- Mm-hm.

0:35:10 > 0:35:14- An en-suite.- Ah-hah. - I heard the word "amazing". - The first en-suite,

0:35:14 > 0:35:16out of all the properties.

0:35:16 > 0:35:18The main bedroom is fantastic.

0:35:18 > 0:35:21What do you think about bungalow living now?

0:35:21 > 0:35:24I think the space in this bungalow

0:35:24 > 0:35:26is as much as in a detached house, anyway,

0:35:26 > 0:35:31apart from maybe just two bedrooms, as opposed to having four.

0:35:31 > 0:35:33That's about the only drawback.

0:35:33 > 0:35:37Initially, this is what we were recapping.

0:35:37 > 0:35:43You said four bedrooms, but two of them would be used as studies, so we figured this is perfect.

0:35:43 > 0:35:45- Yes, it has that. - We accept that, yes.

0:35:45 > 0:35:50Also, you didn't mention it, but the lack of greenery, because one of your passions is gardening.

0:35:50 > 0:35:55You have the garden at the front but there are allotments in the area.

0:35:55 > 0:35:59The price of an allotment is virtually nothing, it's like 20 quid for a year.

0:35:59 > 0:36:02If that's something you felt you would miss out on here,

0:36:02 > 0:36:04you won't, you can have an allotment.

0:36:04 > 0:36:06Guess the price.

0:36:06 > 0:36:10You're even right now, aren't you? 50-50.

0:36:10 > 0:36:14This is it, this could cause World War Three here.

0:36:14 > 0:36:15- Who'd like to go first? - I'll go first.

0:36:15 > 0:36:19- Come on, then, Mike. - I think it's around 490.

0:36:19 > 0:36:21£490,000.

0:36:21 > 0:36:25We have up to £550,000 to spend, so 490. Chris?

0:36:25 > 0:36:27475.

0:36:27 > 0:36:30Right, I've got to tell you something.

0:36:30 > 0:36:37Until today, it was on the market for £495,000,

0:36:37 > 0:36:39which would have made you the closest.

0:36:39 > 0:36:42- However...- They've changed their minds today, have they?

0:36:42 > 0:36:47It is now on the market for £460,000.

0:36:47 > 0:36:49So now, I'm the closest.

0:36:49 > 0:36:51Aside from being excited about winning guess the price,

0:36:51 > 0:36:55it's nearly £100,000 cheaper than the most expensive one we've shown,

0:36:55 > 0:37:01with a possible negotiation because of the position you're in, you don't have to sell anything.

0:37:01 > 0:37:03That's all to spend on your hobbies.

0:37:03 > 0:37:05You have seen all three properties.

0:37:05 > 0:37:11You've got to go away and make the biggest decision of your adult lives about which one to test-drive.

0:37:11 > 0:37:13- Are you prepared to do that?- Yes. - See you later.

0:37:13 > 0:37:15- Choose wisely!- See you later.- Bye.

0:37:15 > 0:37:20What we need now, almost, is something like a refresher.

0:37:20 > 0:37:23- I'd love something like that, something to remind us. - What a good idea.

0:37:23 > 0:37:27While Mike and Chris make the biggest decision of their adult lives so far,

0:37:27 > 0:37:29here's a recap for you watching at home.

0:37:32 > 0:37:35Will Chris and Mike be tempted by my property?

0:37:35 > 0:37:39They seemed lukewarm, but it has the space and seclusion Mike is keen on. And the neighbours

0:37:39 > 0:37:42are almost royalty. Well, they own a castle.

0:37:42 > 0:37:44On the market for...

0:37:46 > 0:37:51Or will they go for my property? There was some question about its size - was it too big?

0:37:51 > 0:37:53But that didn't seem to matter to Chris and Mike,

0:37:53 > 0:37:55and they loved the space.

0:37:55 > 0:37:58I'm certainly in with a strong chance today and it was under budget

0:37:58 > 0:38:00at..

0:38:02 > 0:38:05Or will it be the wild card? The bungalow.

0:38:05 > 0:38:09Beautifully presented and with separate office spaces that Chris and Mike were after.

0:38:09 > 0:38:11It has got to be a contender.

0:38:11 > 0:38:13But will Mike be able to overcome bungalow issues?

0:38:14 > 0:38:17Recently reduced to...

0:38:21 > 0:38:24Surprise, surprise, here we are again at the secret entrance

0:38:24 > 0:38:27to the bungalow, and this is your choice.

0:38:27 > 0:38:30- It is!- Congratulations, I think it's a very good choice.

0:38:30 > 0:38:33What was the deciding factor?

0:38:33 > 0:38:35The first deciding factor was the seclusion.

0:38:35 > 0:38:38- You love seclusion. - You do. We've really noticed this.

0:38:38 > 0:38:42I like to be secluded from the outside world when sitting in my house.

0:38:42 > 0:38:45- OK.- And I think it's nice, but when we went inside,

0:38:45 > 0:38:50we were surprised by the spaciousness and how well laid-out it was.

0:38:50 > 0:38:53- The master bedroom was rather... - It is lovely, isn't it?

0:38:53 > 0:38:58OK, now, we've had our mysterious surveyor round to have a look.

0:38:58 > 0:39:00A few things he spotted - it's not legally binding

0:39:00 > 0:39:05- but if you were to purchase the house, it's a good heads-up. Nikki.- I'll start.

0:39:05 > 0:39:10Behind us there, we have all those lovely green fields.

0:39:10 > 0:39:14Nothing can be built on those, so your view will never be spoilt.

0:39:14 > 0:39:17That is protected land. so that is very good news.

0:39:17 > 0:39:20He looked at the house and didn't find much wrong with it.

0:39:20 > 0:39:22This next thing is something to look into -

0:39:22 > 0:39:25it's not something that will definitely happen,

0:39:25 > 0:39:30but on the patio where it's raised up, and your...

0:39:30 > 0:39:32I was going to say greenhouse, but it's not,

0:39:32 > 0:39:37it's your posh conservatory, there could be the potential for a huge downfall of rain,

0:39:37 > 0:39:40and there could be possible potential for flooding.

0:39:40 > 0:39:42It is something he suggested looking into.

0:39:42 > 0:39:44Ask if it has ever been a problem.

0:39:44 > 0:39:47Maybe put some drainage at the top of the steps.

0:39:47 > 0:39:48Sounds sensible.

0:39:48 > 0:39:51But that was a worst-case scenario.

0:39:51 > 0:39:55- He could find so little wrong with it.- It's a great house.- It's tickety-boo.

0:39:55 > 0:39:58- Are you excited?- Yes.

0:39:58 > 0:40:01Have you heard anything that has made you not want to test drive it?

0:40:01 > 0:40:03- No.- Nothing at all.

0:40:03 > 0:40:07OK, shall you get in there and start driving? Go on, guys.

0:40:10 > 0:40:15Right, off we go. I'm pretty sure we are going to see some hobby action.

0:40:15 > 0:40:17What you think Chris will go for?

0:40:17 > 0:40:20It looks like painting is the order of the day.

0:40:20 > 0:40:23I can never decide whether I prefer Renaissance or Impressionism.

0:40:23 > 0:40:27After hearing your impressions, you should stick to Renaissance.

0:40:27 > 0:40:29I'm talking about art! Never mind.

0:40:29 > 0:40:31Anyway, Mike seems to be having a nice look around,

0:40:31 > 0:40:35doing a spot of proverbial tyre kicking.

0:40:37 > 0:40:39The creative juices seem to be in full flow now.

0:40:39 > 0:40:42Chris certainly looks at home, doesn't she?

0:40:42 > 0:40:46- OK, Chris, shall we go out and try some new things?- Right-oh.

0:40:46 > 0:40:50They're off out to try some new things, I wonder what they might be?

0:40:50 > 0:40:51I wonder.

0:40:53 > 0:40:55Looks like the green baize to me.

0:40:55 > 0:40:56Jimmy White, eat your heart out.

0:40:56 > 0:41:00Ed, it's not snooker, it's bowling!

0:41:02 > 0:41:06- What do you mean? She's just about to pot the yellow!- Oh, I give up.

0:41:12 > 0:41:15Right, then.

0:41:15 > 0:41:17So, we have been test-driving

0:41:17 > 0:41:20and it would seem, accruing more hobbies.

0:41:20 > 0:41:23How many are we up to at the moment, hobbies wise?

0:41:23 > 0:41:26- I've lost count. - Well, I can help you -

0:41:26 > 0:41:29woodwork, needlework, er, Italian lessons.

0:41:29 > 0:41:34- Now you're an artist and you might be a framer.- And also a bowler.

0:41:34 > 0:41:38It is a lot. So how has the test drive gone?

0:41:38 > 0:41:42We are here at the wild card, how does it feel?

0:41:42 > 0:41:46This is radical living for you, the whole concept of a bungalow.

0:41:46 > 0:41:49Does it feel like home? Does it feel strange?

0:41:49 > 0:41:54I would say it very much feels like home. I feel comfortable here.

0:41:54 > 0:41:56What about you, Chris?

0:41:56 > 0:42:00Yes, I like the open plan, the openness of it.

0:42:00 > 0:42:03- Nikki, do you want to release the big question?- I would love to.

0:42:03 > 0:42:06- Get it out of your lips. - To buy or not to buy?

0:42:07 > 0:42:10We are seriously considering putting in an offer.

0:42:10 > 0:42:12That's fantastic!

0:42:12 > 0:42:17And obviously, you've got to do a bit more research about the area.

0:42:17 > 0:42:20Are you thinking of haggling?

0:42:20 > 0:42:22That would be nice. That would be lovely.

0:42:22 > 0:42:25This is staggering, you've never looked at bungalows before.

0:42:25 > 0:42:27- No, no.- But it fits the bill.

0:42:27 > 0:42:33So, if you do buy it, and I hope you do, in the future maybe,

0:42:33 > 0:42:35one day when we want to come paddling in Weymouth,

0:42:35 > 0:42:40could we possibly come and stay as reward for finding this beast?
