0:00:02 > 0:00:07On today's To Buy Or Not To Buy, we're finding the perfect home for our house hunters, all three of them.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09- All three of them?- Indeed.

0:00:09 > 0:00:12- There's Sid, he's the man, there's Gaynor, she's the lady.- Fair enough.

0:00:12 > 0:00:15- And then there's Simpson. - Who's Simpson, the dog or something?

0:00:15 > 0:00:19This is Simpson, all 23 foot of him.

0:00:19 > 0:00:22A caravan! We are going to need a bigger house.

0:00:32 > 0:00:38Caravans, the bane of motorists or a colossus of British culture.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40They do have a bit of an image problem, don't they?

0:00:40 > 0:00:43What we need to do is glam them up a bit.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44Have you got something in mind?

0:00:44 > 0:00:45Hmm!

0:00:47 > 0:00:50'Today on To Buy Or Not To Buy...

0:00:52 > 0:00:53'..me...'

0:00:53 > 0:00:56Honestly, I am really confident that this caravan

0:00:56 > 0:00:58is going to steal the show.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00'..Nikki...'

0:01:00 > 0:01:04Three houses and one caravan, it really doesn't get any bigger than this.

0:01:04 > 0:01:10'..Simpson, the 23-foot caravan...

0:01:12 > 0:01:15'..Sid and Gaynor.'

0:01:15 > 0:01:18- This needs redoing. - This needs gutting.

0:01:18 > 0:01:22I've not come here to walk away empty handed.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26I'm still very, very concerned about the width down that end.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28It has to fit on that drive.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30I don't feel comfortable in here.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33No-one said this was going to be easy, did they?

0:01:33 > 0:01:36- That view is fabulous.- Spectacular.

0:01:36 > 0:01:38We will find the perfect property.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41Let battle commence.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53To Buy Or Not To Buy...

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Sidney, Gaynor and Simpson?

0:01:56 > 0:02:01Sid and Gaynor have been married seven years and live in Leicestershire.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05But Sid works in Warrington and Gaynor works in Birmingham.

0:02:05 > 0:02:12Between them, they drive 1,200 miles a week for work, and quite frankly they crave a quieter life.

0:02:12 > 0:02:17They want to settle in one of England's more sedate counties, Shropshire.

0:02:17 > 0:02:24But, will these quiet country lanes and blue remembered hills have seen the like of Simpson before?

0:02:24 > 0:02:28So, Sid and Gaynor, we're in the heart of Shropshire.

0:02:28 > 0:02:34We're going to find you, hopefully, your ideal house today but you have got one, rather like a tortoise has

0:02:34 > 0:02:38a house on its back, you've got yours with you here, haven't you?

0:02:38 > 0:02:42We've got our summer house we go away in, and we call it Simpson.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45Can you explain that? Because I'm sure it makes sense in your world.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48It was Sid's idea, not mine.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50- So, Sid names a lot of things, does he?- He does, yes.

0:02:50 > 0:02:52Explain why this is called Simpson.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Because it's a Homer from home!

0:02:55 > 0:02:57I thought there'd be something like that in it.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59What else has names in your world?

0:02:59 > 0:03:01- My car has.- What's your car called?

0:03:01 > 0:03:05Its called Gertrude because it plods along like off Magic Roundabout.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09Hang on, where was the Gertrude in Magic Roundabout?

0:03:09 > 0:03:13- The cow.- Ermintrude. - I thought it was Gertrude.

0:03:13 > 0:03:15Anything else got a name?

0:03:15 > 0:03:17- Not at the moment, no. - Have you got names for each other?

0:03:17 > 0:03:20- No...- No, we won't go there!

0:03:20 > 0:03:24So, what are we looking for today? What's your dream house, Gaynor.

0:03:24 > 0:03:30- What would you really like?- Well, for me, it's got to be something in the countryside with nice views.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34We've both got very good, but demanding, jobs so we want

0:03:34 > 0:03:40something when we come home from work that we can relax and we can chill in the garden, basically.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43My sister lives in Shropshire so that's going to be a good thing

0:03:43 > 0:03:47for us to be near my sister, and my dad lives in Staffordshire which is not too far away.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Now, am I right, you work in Birmingham and you work in Warrington?

0:03:50 > 0:03:52Head office is in Warrington.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55But you do a ludicrous amount of miles a week.

0:03:55 > 0:03:59I do a 220-mile round trip to go to the office, when I do, it's maybe

0:03:59 > 0:04:02two or three times a week. I've been doing that for three years.

0:04:02 > 0:04:09So, you do that with a car and yet your idea of going on a holiday is driving with a car.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13It's fantastic. It's the best thing you'll ever do.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15Do we need to store it at the property?

0:04:15 > 0:04:18Ideally to park it and store it, if possible.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20OK, so we want a garden, we want countryside,

0:04:20 > 0:04:22somewhere where you can switch off.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26Any particular period that you want, do you want an old cottage?

0:04:26 > 0:04:29I definitely don't want a very old house.

0:04:29 > 0:04:33You just go through the door and you can sort of sense an atmosphere,

0:04:33 > 0:04:36whether it's a good atmosphere or a bad atmosphere.

0:04:36 > 0:04:41I don't mind something 1930s onwards, but I'd hate to think one of those

0:04:41 > 0:04:44ancient houses with the dark black beams or anything like that, no.

0:04:44 > 0:04:49So many people who come into the countryside want exactly that, so maybe...

0:04:49 > 0:04:51- You might get more for your money. - Exactly, yeah.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54So, where would we compromise? Because Simpson is a great big lump,

0:04:54 > 0:04:59he's a lovely lump, but you could store these things. Is that something you've looked into?

0:04:59 > 0:05:01Yes, we have.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03So, it could be a compromise.

0:05:03 > 0:05:05The non compromise is a view.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08We need to be able to sit in the back garden, after a hard day's

0:05:08 > 0:05:12work, stresses of driving down the motorway, we'd like to sit...

0:05:12 > 0:05:14Nice glass of wine in the summer.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16- Ohh. Yes.- You love that.

0:05:16 > 0:05:20We are at the point we need to find out the fundamental, which is... Nikki, do you want to do it?

0:05:20 > 0:05:22Yes, what is the budget?

0:05:22 > 0:05:25I think the maximum would be £200,000, absolute maximum.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28- Absolute max. - Ideally, if we could get it for...

0:05:28 > 0:05:30- 180, 190.- 170, 180 maybe.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32So, we've got a spread...

0:05:32 > 0:05:38We could go anywhere from £160,000 to £200,000, depending on the state of repair or disrepair.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41- What you might have to do.- Exactly. - I would say that's kind of achievable.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45- See you later on.- See you later. - Bye.- Bye.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47What a show, ladies and gentlemen.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50We have got a caravan called Simpson.

0:05:50 > 0:05:55- We have a car called Gertrude, although technically she should be called Ermintrude.- Marvellous.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57And, you know what, Ed? When I think of Homer,

0:05:57 > 0:06:02- I don't think Homer Simpson, I think of the Iliad and the Odyssey.- That's because you're posh and clever.

0:06:02 > 0:06:06No, it's because I'm edumacated. And we are on an odyssey today, of sorts.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08An "oddity" more like, Nikki!

0:06:10 > 0:06:14As you can imagine, being one of England's most rural counties,

0:06:14 > 0:06:17there's very little urban jungle in Shropshire.

0:06:17 > 0:06:22Telford is the major town, and that's fairly new at just over 40 years of age.

0:06:22 > 0:06:26The county does have a motorway, however, the M54.

0:06:26 > 0:06:30This allows access to the West Midlands conurbation, Birmingham

0:06:30 > 0:06:34and beyond, so it's a great place for commuters to base themselves.

0:06:34 > 0:06:40House prices for the accessible parts are quite keen and are on or above the national average.

0:06:40 > 0:06:45But, there are some bargains to be had in the more remote parts of the county.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49Simpson might struggle with those narrow lanes though, so where else in

0:06:49 > 0:06:54the UK would £200,000 buy you a caravan-friendly house.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57A modern home doesn't mean you have to compromise on space.

0:06:57 > 0:07:01This three-bedroomed house is in Chester and features a conservatory,

0:07:01 > 0:07:04open-plan living and a very generous driveway for caravans.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07Bang on the money at 200 grand.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12The beautiful Gower peninsula is but a short caravan ride from this

0:07:12 > 0:07:16three-bedroom extended house in Llanelli, South Wales.

0:07:16 > 0:07:22Terrific accommodation and very generous parking which includes a double garage.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25Offers in the region of £199,950.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32Simpson wouldn't have any problems parking on this driveway.

0:07:32 > 0:07:40Situated in the county of Wiltshire it has spacious bedrooms, a nice maturing garden and no upstairs.

0:07:40 > 0:07:44Bungalow living at offers in excess of £200,000.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51Nikki is off doing the sensible thing and speaking to the agents.

0:07:51 > 0:07:56You may be wondering what I'm doing, but apparently this practice of dowsing is good for spotting

0:07:56 > 0:08:02negative atmospheres in buildings, something which Gaynor seems particularly prone to.

0:08:02 > 0:08:06Have you ever walked into a building and felt an atmosphere you didn't

0:08:06 > 0:08:10like but you couldn't actually put your finger on what it was?

0:08:10 > 0:08:15Well, the World Health Organisation actually acknowledges something called sick building syndrome.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17But what are the causes?

0:08:17 > 0:08:23Their budget is £200,000 and that's their absolute maximum.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26For that, what they want is, lovely garden

0:08:26 > 0:08:30with spectacular views, the views are the most important thing for them.

0:08:30 > 0:08:35But, one very special request is they need a place

0:08:35 > 0:08:41for a 23-foot single-axle caravan. They want to store that on the property.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43It's going to be very, very difficult.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45- In that budget?- In that budget, yeah.

0:08:45 > 0:08:49You might get something without the land, or without the views.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52I've got a feeling they are going to have to compromise somewhere.

0:08:52 > 0:08:57The earth's natural radiation can be affected by electromagnetic fields.

0:08:57 > 0:09:03These can be caused by fault lines, underground streams, mobile phone masts and pylons.

0:09:03 > 0:09:08There are those that believe if your house is near to one of these things it may become affected.

0:09:08 > 0:09:12If I took away the fact that they needed somewhere for the caravan and I found somewhere for them to put the

0:09:12 > 0:09:18caravan, what would I be looking at then, could I bring that down a spectacular amount of money?

0:09:18 > 0:09:24You could bring it down. You can have a lot more choice of properties, then. Looking in

0:09:24 > 0:09:28the area, there's very few properties in these sort of villages anyway.

0:09:28 > 0:09:31Because they're so prestigious?

0:09:31 > 0:09:35And also because people that buy in the villages tend to stay there for some time.

0:09:35 > 0:09:40The process of house healing, whereby a man or a woman turns up at your property with

0:09:40 > 0:09:45dowsing rods and attempts to dispel any bad energies contained within, is actually on the rise.

0:09:45 > 0:09:49Estate agents reported that properties that were reluctant to

0:09:49 > 0:09:54sell actually achieved a quick sale once the house was healed.

0:09:54 > 0:10:01Because they don't want an olde worlde beautiful cottage with beams and character features...

0:10:01 > 0:10:04But maybe that will be easier and maybe slightly cheaper?

0:10:04 > 0:10:06It's not going to be easy.

0:10:06 > 0:10:12I've just been doing something quite ludicrous, but is actually true, with the dowsing business.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14Have you done anything a bit more sensible?

0:10:14 > 0:10:15Yes, I've met the estate agent.

0:10:15 > 0:10:22- Has he helped us?- Well, of course he's helped but the problem is, for the budget that they've got, in

0:10:22 > 0:10:28- the areas that they want, we'll have to compromise, which brings me to property number one.- A compromise?

0:10:28 > 0:10:30- It is slightly.- Go on then.

0:10:30 > 0:10:34Three bedrooms, the most spectacular views.

0:10:34 > 0:10:41An annex which has obviously been a granny flat so far, but there's nowhere to park Simpson.

0:10:41 > 0:10:43Nowhere for Simpson the caravan?

0:10:43 > 0:10:46They did say they might make a compromise with Simpson.

0:10:46 > 0:10:51Well, they're going to have to because you're not going to get that kind of land for that money.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53- You're not getting rid of Simpson entirely, are you?- No.

0:10:53 > 0:10:57OK, property two, my one, is in a beautifully named village called

0:10:57 > 0:11:01Norton-in-Hales in Shropshire. This village is phenomenal.

0:11:01 > 0:11:06It wins Best Kept Village, it wins Village In Bloom, it is lovely, gorgeous, beautiful.

0:11:06 > 0:11:11The property is actually an ex-council house but it looks absolutely adorable.

0:11:11 > 0:11:18It has got planning permission and that will be vital to expand, but Simpson the caravan can stay there.

0:11:18 > 0:11:24- Thank you very much. - Ah, well, property number three, the wild card, and it really is.

0:11:24 > 0:11:27It really is, it's wild as in overgrown, wild as

0:11:27 > 0:11:32in kind of pushing the envelope. And Simpson can be there, can't he, Simpson can stay there?

0:11:32 > 0:11:36- Oh, Simpson can stay there but I'm not sure they can.- At the moment.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38But, the potential.

0:11:38 > 0:11:43Oh, it stinks of potential. So, those are the houses, where should we start the journey?

0:11:43 > 0:11:46- Mine, number one.- It should be the one that's a compromise.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52Compromise is a word often used when looking for a perfect home.

0:11:52 > 0:11:55Property one, which is in the pretty village of Preston upon the Weald,

0:11:55 > 0:12:01fits all the criteria that Sid and Gaynor set for us, except in one very important area.

0:12:01 > 0:12:06So, Gaynor, Sid, property number one. This is my property.

0:12:06 > 0:12:10So, Sid, how good are you at manoeuvring Simpson?

0:12:10 > 0:12:17Very well, but looking at this driveway, the width is a little bit tight.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20You'd get a car in here but up at the top there's a bush.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22I don't know whether I can get the caravan round.

0:12:22 > 0:12:27- Could you get out and push Simpson? - Gaynor, could you push Simpson?

0:12:27 > 0:12:30- I'd give it a go. - "I'll give anything a go once."

0:12:30 > 0:12:36I just love the fact that you didn't walk up here and go, "What has she done? There's no way..."

0:12:36 > 0:12:38You're actually being really kind.

0:12:38 > 0:12:39Being kind, it is tight.

0:12:39 > 0:12:44I'm going to be even kinder. You might not have to worry about this tightness.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46You're going to get out and push as well?

0:12:46 > 0:12:53No. I'm going to give you a solution to this but I want you to see the house first.

0:12:53 > 0:12:59In the house, I have given you everything that you've asked for and maybe more.

0:12:59 > 0:13:04First impressions, Gaynor, of the house outside, because it's the period we were concerned about.

0:13:04 > 0:13:05From an atmosphere perspective?

0:13:05 > 0:13:10- Yeah.- Seems OK to me. - From an architectural perspective.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13It seems a nice location. The only

0:13:13 > 0:13:18thing I don't particularly like is dark wood but we've got a paintbrush, we could change that.

0:13:18 > 0:13:24- Find a fault, make a feature. - Absolutely.- Upstairs, one vital thing is missing.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26Your task is to work out what that is.

0:13:26 > 0:13:28- Right. - Are you ready?- We're ready.

0:13:28 > 0:13:30- Are you excited?- Very much so.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34Go in that house and let's hope the aura gives you a high five. Go.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40Bit of a slope, isn't it?

0:13:40 > 0:13:42Yes, close to the door.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45Small hallway.

0:13:45 > 0:13:48Mind you, what do you use a hallway for?

0:13:48 > 0:13:52Just coming in. To the left, the lounge.

0:13:52 > 0:13:55It's a good size.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58I love that wood burner, absolutely.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00Yes, you've thought about a wood burner, haven't you?

0:14:00 > 0:14:02Yeah, I really like that, perfect.

0:14:02 > 0:14:06Wood burning fireplace, Gaynor in her element.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08If you're coming out of Leicestershire, which is

0:14:08 > 0:14:12rural and smoggy, when you wipe your washing line, you get that... Yeah? This won't have that, will it?

0:14:12 > 0:14:18It's lovely, be lovely in the wintertime, Christmas, we'll put our Christmas tree there.

0:14:18 > 0:14:20Yeah, three-piece suite fit in?

0:14:20 > 0:14:23Yes, it will fit in, won't it?

0:14:23 > 0:14:25Yeah, chair there, settee there.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29- Do you get any feelings in here?- No.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32- Oh, Ed, they're moving the furniture in.- They are, they are.

0:14:32 > 0:14:33What's in this room?

0:14:33 > 0:14:36Dining room and the kitchen.

0:14:36 > 0:14:40- Dining-kitchen.- Yes, it's an OK kitchen, isn't it? Nice units.

0:14:40 > 0:14:42It's got a country feel, hasn't it?

0:14:42 > 0:14:48We could change the kitchen to a country kitchen with a hearth, or something like that.

0:14:48 > 0:14:55What I was thinking, is that you could make that a breakfast room but when you come into this annex part,

0:14:55 > 0:15:01- which they don't know exists yet, you could make that first room a nice big dining room, couldn't you?- OK.

0:15:01 > 0:15:03This is an extension on the back.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08It's a good-sized room, isn't it?

0:15:08 > 0:15:09It's got an en suite there.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12- This must be an annex.- It's OK.

0:15:12 > 0:15:16Actually, it's huge, it's a stand-in shower.

0:15:16 > 0:15:18I don't like this.

0:15:18 > 0:15:20- You don't?- Absolutely not.

0:15:20 > 0:15:23I did have the feeling that Gaynor, when she came into the

0:15:23 > 0:15:27annex, wouldn't like it, but she doesn't have the purpose for it.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30It's a granny flat conversion which they've done.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33Just take it out, it's of no use to Sid and Gaynor.

0:15:33 > 0:15:36Absolutely, and then you wouldn't need this window, which is frosted.

0:15:36 > 0:15:39- You'd have a lovely view over the garden.- Exactly.

0:15:39 > 0:15:42I think we'd have to redo this, it's not to my taste.

0:15:42 > 0:15:46- We could have a bath in here, a proper bath.- Absolutely, it's a really good-sized room.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48It is, isn't it?

0:15:48 > 0:15:51We'd just have to redo it.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54The other thing I was thinking, the back annex part, where we've

0:15:54 > 0:15:59got this big bathroom, you could almost make that the kitchen

0:15:59 > 0:16:04and have that room as a dining room, and then keep the rest of it all as living space.

0:16:04 > 0:16:07French-door me off, you'd put them there.

0:16:07 > 0:16:09- What's in there?- What's in here?

0:16:09 > 0:16:11Have a look.

0:16:11 > 0:16:12A downstairs toilet.

0:16:12 > 0:16:15Fabulous. At last, a downstairs toilet.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18- You've always wanted a downstairs toilet.- Yes. Always.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20- Well, you've got one.- Fabulous.

0:16:20 > 0:16:26I have never heard anybody get so excited about a downstairs toilet.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29I did once when I'd come from a very long car journey...

0:16:29 > 0:16:31- OK, yeah, right, TMI, TMI. - ..I totally mistimed,

0:16:31 > 0:16:37I was very excited, I wouldn't have been able to have got upstairs.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Which wing? We'll start with this one.

0:16:40 > 0:16:44Front one, this is definitely the box room.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47- It's big enough, isn't it? - You'd get bunk beds in here.

0:16:47 > 0:16:49Definitely.

0:16:49 > 0:16:52Quite a good-sized room.

0:16:52 > 0:16:55I wonder if this is the master or the second one?

0:16:55 > 0:16:58Oh, yes, now we're talking.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00That is really nice.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03- That is spectacular. - There's the Shropshire cows.

0:17:03 > 0:17:08Oh, listen to them waxing eloquent about the views. Not just that, but the Shropshire cows.

0:17:08 > 0:17:11It's nature's supermarket. When they're hungry in the morning,

0:17:11 > 0:17:15they just grab a cow from the field, there's a farm down there if they want to get eggs.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17- They have got everything. - Who eats a cow for breakfast?

0:17:17 > 0:17:20People love cows, I love cows, I love beefburgers.

0:17:20 > 0:17:26- Bathroom.- Quite a reasonable size but no toilet in here.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29There isn't, is there? There's no toilet in the upstairs bathroom.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32- This needs redoing. - This needs gutting.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35It's OK as it is but it's just not how...

0:17:35 > 0:17:37No toilet upstairs.

0:17:37 > 0:17:41Bed pan, want a bed pan?!

0:17:41 > 0:17:44Good old Sid. Bed pan, I like it.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46It's quite a good size, isn't it?

0:17:46 > 0:17:49It is very big. The master bedroom.

0:17:49 > 0:17:51Ah, just love that view.

0:17:51 > 0:17:57Imagine waking up on a weekend after a hard stressful week at work.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59So far it's

0:17:59 > 0:18:01ticking some of the boxes.

0:18:01 > 0:18:04I think it's ticking quite a few boxes. I think it's very nice.

0:18:04 > 0:18:06There we go, there's a dilemma.

0:18:06 > 0:18:10Sid - some of the boxes. Gaynor - a lot of the boxes.

0:18:10 > 0:18:14- And yet, I thought it was the other way round.- Well, there we go.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17The only thing that keeps nagging me is about Simpson.

0:18:21 > 0:18:26So, Sid, I've heard everything you've said on the tour and we'll speak more about that when

0:18:26 > 0:18:32we guess the price with Gaynor, but your big concern is Simpson and I need to address that with you.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36This space we're standing in - big enough for Simpson, surely?

0:18:36 > 0:18:40Yes, it is, but I'm still very, very concerned about the width down that end.

0:18:40 > 0:18:44- What if I told you I found another solution?- Interesting.

0:18:44 > 0:18:51Store Simpson eight miles down the road in a beautiful place where he'll be kept company with lots of other

0:18:51 > 0:18:58caravans and, not only that, but this place will only cost you £200 a year.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00- That's...- That's not very much.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03That isn't compared to some places we've been looking at.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07- Precisely. Does that make you happier?- That makes me better.- Good.

0:19:07 > 0:19:12So, Sid and I have had a little chat about the caravan situation and I

0:19:12 > 0:19:15- have provided a wonderful solution. - Yes, she's very good.

0:19:15 > 0:19:20An exciting solution. But let's not talk about the caravan right now, let's talk about the house.

0:19:20 > 0:19:23- I think it's not bad, needs a bit of decoration.- Not bad?

0:19:23 > 0:19:27But for me, the views are spectacular and I think that's really nice

0:19:27 > 0:19:29and it's quite a quiet location, so that's ideal.

0:19:29 > 0:19:32For the bathroom upstairs, I think we could possibly

0:19:32 > 0:19:37knock out the airing cupboard and make that a toilet.

0:19:37 > 0:19:40That's the only solution we could see.

0:19:40 > 0:19:41You've got to cross your legs a lot!

0:19:41 > 0:19:45Or you've got to stagger down in the middle of the night.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47We've not played guess the price today on the programme.

0:19:47 > 0:19:50Who would like to go first in the guess-the-price arena?

0:19:50 > 0:19:55We've got a maximum budget up to £200,000 to play with,

0:19:55 > 0:19:58but we wanted to spend anywhere between £160,000 and £200,000.

0:19:58 > 0:20:00So, who'd like to go first?

0:20:00 > 0:20:03- Go on, Gaynor. - I will, I think about 195.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05195? Sid?

0:20:05 > 0:20:11- 187,500.- 187,500?

0:20:11 > 0:20:16OK, you are the winner of the first round of guess the price, Gaynor, but

0:20:16 > 0:20:18it is in fact more than that -

0:20:18 > 0:20:24it's 199,995, a fiver under

0:20:24 > 0:20:32your absolute limit, but in my opinion, and this is only my opinion, there's a lot of haggle room here.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34I don't think you should settle for this one.

0:20:34 > 0:20:38I think we should be going somewhere else, and maybe to another property after that.

0:20:38 > 0:20:41- Really, which property would that be, Ed(?) - My one, shall we go?

0:20:41 > 0:20:43Let's shimmy over that fence.

0:20:46 > 0:20:50Now, with Simpson being a key member of the family, so to speak,

0:20:50 > 0:20:52it's rather important that he feels involved.

0:20:52 > 0:20:58Hence bringing Sid and Gaynor to the award-winning loveliness that is the village of Norton-in-Hales.

0:20:58 > 0:21:03The house may be on the small side but it's perfect accommodation for everyone.

0:21:03 > 0:21:05Sid and Gaynor, walk toward the property.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Now, this beauty is my choice.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11I want to know what you think about it,

0:21:11 > 0:21:15- then I'll give you some facts. What do you think?- It's OK.

0:21:15 > 0:21:16- I like the village.- "It's OK"?

0:21:16 > 0:21:18I always reserve judgment.

0:21:18 > 0:21:19You're allowed to. Sid, what do you think?

0:21:19 > 0:21:23I actually very much like it. First impressions, it's good.

0:21:23 > 0:21:26The village is excellent, the house is nice.

0:21:26 > 0:21:31There's a few modifications I'd do to the outside, like paint the door white, and the

0:21:31 > 0:21:36surrounding paintwork white, and I would change the windows to UPVC.

0:21:36 > 0:21:41OK, but not so much, and that would make you feel from the outside it was lovely?

0:21:41 > 0:21:42- Yeah.- All right, that's not so bad.

0:21:42 > 0:21:45And the village is absolutely stunning.

0:21:45 > 0:21:46Super, really nice.

0:21:46 > 0:21:49OK, Sid, do you believe

0:21:49 > 0:21:53that lovely driveway is fit enough for Simpson, the caravan?

0:21:53 > 0:21:55It is, he'd love his home there.

0:21:55 > 0:21:59And would Gertrude, the inaccurately named vehicle that drives it?

0:21:59 > 0:22:00Yes, yes.

0:22:00 > 0:22:04- It's a confusing world in your world, isn't it?- It is yes.

0:22:04 > 0:22:06Are you excited and thrilled to be going into

0:22:06 > 0:22:11- a property which has Shropshire's bestest village title.- Can't wait.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14- Best of the best.- Go and enjoy it.

0:22:18 > 0:22:21- Step there. - This is the hallway bit.

0:22:21 > 0:22:25Should we go round to the right?

0:22:25 > 0:22:27Here's the lounge.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29It's a nice size, I like the fireplace.

0:22:29 > 0:22:33I wonder if that's real, it looks like it is.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36Look at the views over the back, lovely.

0:22:36 > 0:22:40Nice feel to it, like a sort of cosy cottagey feel to it.

0:22:40 > 0:22:43I'm not too keen on the wood flooring, we'd have to put a carpet down

0:22:43 > 0:22:46because we do like our soft carpets, don't we, darling?

0:22:46 > 0:22:51- Yeah, definitely. - They're not keen on your wood flooring, Ed.- Lovely wood floor.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54That's the first I remarked on, I absolutely adore your floors.

0:22:54 > 0:22:58Some people had wood floors growing up and think it's rubbish. I like it.

0:22:58 > 0:23:00Wow, look at the garden, fantastic.

0:23:00 > 0:23:05What a view, there's a gate into the field, I wonder if the field comes with it.

0:23:05 > 0:23:08Now, you've heard your wows, Ed.

0:23:08 > 0:23:15- The views.- Well, the views over the gardens and greenery of Norton in Hales, are exemplary.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18Here's the hallway again. What sort of atmosphere is on this house, love?

0:23:18 > 0:23:21It seems OK, I don't feel anything bad,

0:23:21 > 0:23:24Good, because it's quite an older house, isn't it?

0:23:24 > 0:23:28So, the whole thing about Gaynor sensing atmospheres

0:23:28 > 0:23:34- and just sensing anything in the ether...- It's positive. - Well, she likes this.

0:23:34 > 0:23:35Right...

0:23:35 > 0:23:38OK, smaller than I expected.

0:23:38 > 0:23:42It's an OK size, but for me it's got to be completely redone.

0:23:42 > 0:23:46It's an old kitchen but looks like it's got a utility room.

0:23:46 > 0:23:50- Now, you're happier. - Perfect and a downstairs toilet.

0:23:50 > 0:23:57- Absolutely perfect.- I didn't know you'd get excited about a downstairs toilet all these years.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00Just makes it so much easier when you've got guests.

0:24:00 > 0:24:02Yeah, I like this concept.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04Let's go in the small bedroom first.

0:24:06 > 0:24:08It's a box room.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10It's an OK size.

0:24:13 > 0:24:15It's a nice size.

0:24:15 > 0:24:17This must be the master bedroom, I think.

0:24:17 > 0:24:21- Looks like it's got a built in wardrobe over there.- That's handy.

0:24:21 > 0:24:22Handy for me.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25- As usual. - Let's have a look at the views.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28Oh wow, look at this,

0:24:28 > 0:24:31really, really nice.

0:24:31 > 0:24:33I like this room, this room's nice.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36I've got a good feeling for this one. But listen...

0:24:36 > 0:24:38..quiet, isn't it?

0:24:38 > 0:24:41It's very quiet, it's peaceful, it's just what we're after.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43Yeah, OK.

0:24:46 > 0:24:50- OK.- Ooh, bijou, very small.

0:24:50 > 0:24:56- It is small, but how long do you spend in the bathroom? - Not long, but...

0:24:56 > 0:25:00I would have liked it to have a sort of bigger shower area.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03But this one has got an upstairs toilet.

0:25:03 > 0:25:05That's better than the other one.

0:25:05 > 0:25:08Nikki, would my character say, "In your face" or not?

0:25:08 > 0:25:14Your character says, "In your face" one more time and I will do something.

0:25:14 > 0:25:18He's thinking about saying in your face because it does have a toilet upstairs and yours didn't.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22He's also thinking about saying in your face because they like the village

0:25:22 > 0:25:27and are prepared to compromise and because of the extension that would make the bathroom bigger.

0:25:27 > 0:25:30Now, this must be hopefully the second bedroom.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35It's a little bit small for the second bedroom.

0:25:35 > 0:25:38Yeah, it's a bit smaller than we're used to, however,

0:25:38 > 0:25:41you could still get a three quarter double bed in there.

0:25:41 > 0:25:46Yeah, but I'd want our double bed in here plus the two bedside cabinets

0:25:46 > 0:25:49and it's just a little bit too small for that.

0:25:49 > 0:25:51Then again, there's the views.

0:25:51 > 0:25:53Stunning views.

0:25:53 > 0:25:58As Ed says, it's a bit smaller than the other house because of the location.

0:25:58 > 0:26:02We've both met the criteria of not giving them a housing estate because,

0:26:02 > 0:26:04they currently live in one in Leicestershire area.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07- So, they want the countryside. We've ticked those boxes equally. - Indeed.

0:26:07 > 0:26:12You've given them slightly more space but I've given the cuteness of Norton in Hales.

0:26:12 > 0:26:14SHE INHALES DEEPLY

0:26:14 > 0:26:20There is work to be done in this house, as well as the fact it doesn't have a dining room.

0:26:20 > 0:26:25- If it's for the right price we can always do something.- Potentially. I don't mind redecorating.

0:26:25 > 0:26:28And maybe a conservatory on the back.

0:26:28 > 0:26:34But it all adds up, so you're going to have to see what it's up for, definitely.

0:26:37 > 0:26:41- So, Gaynor and Sid, I would say you liked it.- Yes, I liked it.

0:26:41 > 0:26:47Liked it quite a lot, but one reservation was the size of certain rooms and maybe the size overall.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49Yes, definitely.

0:26:49 > 0:26:53So, this is an intriguing piece of information I'm about to deliver to you.

0:26:53 > 0:26:56- See that part of the house where the garage is?- Yes.

0:26:56 > 0:27:01Planning permission has been granted for a two storey extension to go on the side of the house.

0:27:01 > 0:27:09- Right.- They have granted and they have priced it between £30,000 to £40,000.

0:27:09 > 0:27:14So, that would take the size issue out of the equation probably.

0:27:14 > 0:27:17Depends on the asking price.

0:27:17 > 0:27:22That's the biggest question, isn't it? Depending if it goes above our budget.

0:27:22 > 0:27:27- Do you want to do the thing you want to know?- Absolutely.- Guess the price.- We're desperate to know.

0:27:27 > 0:27:31Well, you won last time, Gaynor, so I think she should go again.

0:27:31 > 0:27:35- Controversial!- Ladies first. - Yes, absolutely.

0:27:35 > 0:27:41- I think 185.- 185? I reckon 190.

0:27:41 > 0:27:43190...

0:27:43 > 0:27:45The price it's on the market for,

0:27:45 > 0:27:49- and placing Gaynor into an unassailable lead,- No.

0:27:49 > 0:27:51Is £179,950.

0:27:51 > 0:27:53Oooh!

0:27:53 > 0:27:55What do you think, knowing all that?

0:27:55 > 0:27:58- The extension would be essential, frankly. - It would be essential.

0:27:58 > 0:28:00£30,000 to £40,000 built are estimates.

0:28:00 > 0:28:04- Let's look at some spreadsheets en route to the wild card. - Let's do that.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06I'll get a pen out...

0:28:06 > 0:28:08After you.

0:28:08 > 0:28:14Sitting in a quiet backwater close to Market Drayton

0:28:14 > 0:28:17the wild card certainly earns its credentials today.

0:28:17 > 0:28:23Sid and Gaynor will need to use their imagination, as there's a large project here for the right buyer.

0:28:23 > 0:28:28But for sheer character, this place, which used to be the local pub, is hard to beat.

0:28:28 > 0:28:31So, Gaynor, Sid the wild card.

0:28:31 > 0:28:35We often say the wild card, everyone loves the wild card.

0:28:35 > 0:28:39Now, looking at the exterior I would forgive you for being slightly concerned.

0:28:39 > 0:28:41That's an understatement.

0:28:41 > 0:28:43- What's your first impression though? - OK, we have an understatement.

0:28:43 > 0:28:45Gaynor, go on.

0:28:45 > 0:28:49- It looks challenging, let's put it that way. - I like that, it's a good phrase.

0:28:49 > 0:28:55You know what, to me from the outside, this looks like a country little house.

0:28:55 > 0:28:57It's in a beautiful village.

0:28:57 > 0:29:01- That it is.- That's a plus point, it's quiet.- Have you got your contacts in Nikki?

0:29:01 > 0:29:05Even I can spot that it looks challenging from the outside.

0:29:05 > 0:29:10Now, before I ask you your opinion, Sid, we have got a third of an acre of land here.

0:29:10 > 0:29:15- A third of an acre?- That's a lot of land.- I do the mowing!

0:29:15 > 0:29:18This is what I'm thinking. See this area here,

0:29:18 > 0:29:22there's some kind of ramshackle buildings there in a state of disrepair.

0:29:22 > 0:29:28Turn that into Homer's home away from home and maybe a home for other Homers around the world or Simpson,

0:29:28 > 0:29:29which is your caravan.

0:29:29 > 0:29:31You could have a caravan site here.

0:29:31 > 0:29:37It's got a huge amount of potential and we are, like property number two,

0:29:37 > 0:29:41about the same distance from here to Warrington and Birmingham.

0:29:41 > 0:29:44So, thoughts on it, thoughts on house, thoughts on garden.

0:29:44 > 0:29:50I'm always an optimist. I believe you can always see things in things which are good.

0:29:50 > 0:29:56I like, actually like a chocolate box cottage feel from outside.

0:29:56 > 0:29:59- Nice symmetry.- Yes, nice area.

0:29:59 > 0:30:02- So, you're positive Sid. - I'm very positive about it.- Gaynor?

0:30:02 > 0:30:08I think it could be made into a fantastic house but I think you're looking at least £60,000.

0:30:08 > 0:30:12And you've not even seen inside yet.

0:30:12 > 0:30:16Well, listen, I tell you what, your early comment Gaynor, challenging, it is challenging.

0:30:16 > 0:30:19Are you prepared to face the challenge of the wild card?

0:30:19 > 0:30:21- Yes.- Definitely wild, isn't it?

0:30:21 > 0:30:23Breathe in deeply.

0:30:23 > 0:30:24THEY INHALE DEEPLY

0:30:24 > 0:30:25Good luck.

0:30:29 > 0:30:32Interesting's the word. Let's turn left.

0:30:35 > 0:30:37It's very dark.

0:30:37 > 0:30:39It is dark, isn't it?

0:30:39 > 0:30:46It's quite a good size room and quite nice flooring.

0:30:46 > 0:30:50I'm banking on Sid on this property, I'll be honest, because quite frankly, Gaynor...

0:30:50 > 0:30:53It will be a challenging thing too far.

0:30:53 > 0:30:56Yes, he is the optimist, ever the optimist.

0:30:56 > 0:31:02It would be interesting to know what age the property is, because I'm just not sure.

0:31:02 > 0:31:03How's the atmosphere feeling?

0:31:03 > 0:31:06How is the atmosphere feeling? Crucial question that we want addressed.

0:31:06 > 0:31:09I could tell you that from the word go. Not very good.

0:31:09 > 0:31:14A little bit hesitant, I feel...

0:31:14 > 0:31:18- I don't feel particularly fine here.- OK.

0:31:18 > 0:31:23- The second reception room on the right hand side,- Slightly brighter. - Exactly.

0:31:23 > 0:31:28Oh, this is a good sized room. I think possibly we could have this as the lounge.

0:31:28 > 0:31:33Actually this is much lighter and feels a lot better in here than in there.

0:31:33 > 0:31:37It's a little bit too dark for me.

0:31:37 > 0:31:40I prefer lighter houses.

0:31:40 > 0:31:43Lots of light coming into a house

0:31:43 > 0:31:46but it's got a nice cottagey feel.

0:31:46 > 0:31:50It's the cottage feel which we've always talked about living in the country.

0:31:50 > 0:31:54One of the benefits of living in the country was to get a cottage.

0:31:54 > 0:31:57This is definitely a wild card, that's for sure.

0:31:57 > 0:32:01Sid's a fan of the show, he knows it's a wild card.'

0:32:01 > 0:32:04We do like to tease, probe and prod in all manners.

0:32:04 > 0:32:10And, what they need to do right, to stop some of the darkness is to chop some of the hedges down.

0:32:10 > 0:32:11- Yes, exactly.- That would help.

0:32:11 > 0:32:13Everything needs to be pulled back here.

0:32:13 > 0:32:17Well, it is a small kitchen.

0:32:17 > 0:32:25It's a very compact kitchen and I think it would need redoing.

0:32:25 > 0:32:30I think it needs redecoration and a new carpet.

0:32:30 > 0:32:32That's only material things.

0:32:32 > 0:32:36Absolutely. You're very good with decorating.

0:32:36 > 0:32:39- We are in potentially something magnificent.- But there is an awful lot of work to do.

0:32:39 > 0:32:44- Needs some...- It's bigger than I expected it to be as a cottage.

0:32:44 > 0:32:46Definitely a good size.

0:32:46 > 0:32:49Yes, yes.

0:32:49 > 0:32:55- A really small bath mind.- Yes, it's been built some time, I think it's been built in the 70s maybe.

0:32:55 > 0:32:58- We'd have to put a corner bath in there.- Yes.

0:32:58 > 0:33:00But again it's just a new bathroom.

0:33:00 > 0:33:07It's got a shower, that's a good thing and it's quite light as well, which I like about it.

0:33:07 > 0:33:13Good views, really nice views and the village location is fantastic.

0:33:13 > 0:33:17- Really, really like that. - That is a good view.- Spectacular.

0:33:17 > 0:33:20A spectacular from this house and guess what it's for?

0:33:20 > 0:33:22It's not from the house.

0:33:22 > 0:33:23No, it's the view.

0:33:24 > 0:33:26Is this a master bedroom?

0:33:26 > 0:33:30No, I think it's another small bedroom.

0:33:32 > 0:33:35- Definitely atmospheres in here. - I don't feel comfortable in here.

0:33:35 > 0:33:37Gaynor is not happy.

0:33:37 > 0:33:44It's quite a small room and I'm just trying to think if this is the second bedroom,

0:33:44 > 0:33:47how we're going to get the double bed in, I don't think we are.

0:33:47 > 0:33:52This must be the master bedroom if that was the smaller one.

0:33:52 > 0:33:57- Right, now this is definitely a cottage bedroom, isn't it?- Yes.

0:33:57 > 0:34:01- Nice room.- We could make the downstairs lighter by extending out.

0:34:01 > 0:34:04At the end of the day it is the wild card.

0:34:07 > 0:34:10This is the garden.

0:34:10 > 0:34:12The secret garden.

0:34:12 > 0:34:14- Look at those views. - Look at those views.

0:34:14 > 0:34:17Spectacular.

0:34:17 > 0:34:19Come on.

0:34:19 > 0:34:20Come on!

0:34:20 > 0:34:22Interesting.

0:34:22 > 0:34:26It's gone from challenging to interesting.

0:34:26 > 0:34:29Not everyone loves the wild card although most people do

0:34:29 > 0:34:32and I think you fall into the camp of not loving it.

0:34:32 > 0:34:35I've got a lot of positives to say about it.

0:34:35 > 0:34:42You've got a beautiful village here, spectacular views and if we bought this property

0:34:42 > 0:34:46what I would like to do is to knock those buildings down at the front

0:34:46 > 0:34:54and to actually build a property on there and then sell this as separate house.

0:34:54 > 0:34:55- Crafty.- If that was possible.

0:34:55 > 0:35:00You've got an awful land, with a third of an acre you could actually divy up gardens and you could do.

0:35:00 > 0:35:04We should do probably the most vital thing, which is playing guess the price.

0:35:04 > 0:35:10- I've lost.- You've lost, Sid, you could go for a hollow two-one loss or you

0:35:10 > 0:35:14could go for the pride which may be there in losing all three.

0:35:14 > 0:35:18It's up to you. Now, Gaynor's guessed first every time hasn't she?

0:35:18 > 0:35:20Yeah, let's not break with tradition.

0:35:20 > 0:35:24OK, Gaynor, you go again. £200,000 is the maximum budget.

0:35:24 > 0:35:27I going to say 165.

0:35:27 > 0:35:28165.

0:35:28 > 0:35:35See, I would say because of the land and the location it's going to be a little bit higher, 172.

0:35:35 > 0:35:37Right, brace yourselves.

0:35:39 > 0:35:42It's a hollow two-one to you

0:35:42 > 0:35:45because in fact, the price is

0:35:45 > 0:35:50£195,000 or offers in the region.

0:35:50 > 0:35:53Offers in the region, £195,000.

0:35:53 > 0:35:56So five grand below your maximum budget.

0:35:56 > 0:36:00But it is a fantastic house in a fantastic location

0:36:00 > 0:36:02and would make an absolutely wonderful home for somebody.

0:36:02 > 0:36:07You now have to go off and make the biggest decision of your adult lives,

0:36:07 > 0:36:11about which one you wish to test drive. Are you confident, able and excited about that?

0:36:11 > 0:36:15- Very.- Very, very you've got Lulu.

0:36:15 > 0:36:18- Oh, you've named them.- Yes! - Are there reasons for these names?

0:36:18 > 0:36:21- There are. - So, tell me why my property is Lulu.

0:36:21 > 0:36:23Because it's got two loos downstairs but nothing upstairs.

0:36:23 > 0:36:25Very good!

0:36:25 > 0:36:26- Property number two.- Is Bob.

0:36:26 > 0:36:28- Bob because?- He needs a builder.

0:36:28 > 0:36:31- Right, yes.- What's this one if it's not called Bob?

0:36:31 > 0:36:35This one's called Maverick because it definitely is a wild card.

0:36:35 > 0:36:37Wander off, make the decision.

0:36:37 > 0:36:41I have no idea which you'll go for. I've got a suspicion maybe not this one.

0:36:41 > 0:36:45- Anyway we will see you later on. Good luck.- Choose wisely.

0:36:45 > 0:36:51Well, for all of you at home, here's a recap of Lulu, Bob and Maverick.

0:36:53 > 0:36:56Lulu, realistically lacked the space for Simpson

0:36:56 > 0:36:59but I gave Sid and Gaynor a workable solution.

0:36:59 > 0:37:02The house was in a perfect location and offered them stunning views.

0:37:02 > 0:37:06There wasn't an upstairs toilet but with a little work there could be.

0:37:06 > 0:37:08On the market at:

0:37:10 > 0:37:14Bob may need the extension to make it a totally practical solution

0:37:14 > 0:37:16but I use the word may quite freely

0:37:16 > 0:37:19because property two was not exactly small and there was

0:37:19 > 0:37:23room for Simpson on the drive and it had those stunning views,

0:37:23 > 0:37:25and it's in the best kept village in Shropshire.

0:37:25 > 0:37:27Need I go on? Well, under budget.

0:37:30 > 0:37:34I'm not sure Sid and Gaynor have bought into the idea of Maverick.

0:37:34 > 0:37:38The wild card is meant to throw a proverbial spanner in the works

0:37:38 > 0:37:40but rather than get them excited

0:37:40 > 0:37:42it brought things to a standstill.

0:37:42 > 0:37:46On for offers in the region of:

0:37:51 > 0:37:55Gaynor and Sid the wild card didn't win today and it normally does.

0:37:55 > 0:37:57I have won.

0:37:57 > 0:38:01- No, your property, it's not about you.- I have won today.

0:38:01 > 0:38:04OK, so that's cleared up, I have won.

0:38:04 > 0:38:07You have chosen this beauty in Norton in Hales, which is gorgeous.

0:38:07 > 0:38:10- It is.- Why did you go for this one? - Go on, Gaynor.

0:38:10 > 0:38:12We really liked the village.

0:38:12 > 0:38:17It's got a lovely aspect, lovely views at the back and seems quite cottagey.

0:38:17 > 0:38:21And of course, Simpson will be able to fit quite nicely without paying any extra.

0:38:21 > 0:38:29Now, here we go, we have had our mysterious surveyor, the man you never really see in full vision.

0:38:29 > 0:38:30He's had a look round the house.

0:38:30 > 0:38:35It's a good heads up if you wish to purchase the property as to what you're getting into.

0:38:35 > 0:38:39- If you do buy, get your own survey, that's what I'm saying. - OK.- Anyway, Nikki.

0:38:39 > 0:38:45- Well, the amazing thing is the surveyor could find nothing wrong with this place.- Nothing.

0:38:45 > 0:38:47But he's made a lot of suggestions.

0:38:47 > 0:38:53So if you look at the roof there's a lot of space in there.

0:38:53 > 0:38:58He says that that is potential for a loft conversion. That is something that you might consider doing

0:38:58 > 0:39:01as well as the extension that has been granted permission.

0:39:01 > 0:39:06The fact that permission is granted, because this is bordering green belt if not actually in green belt.

0:39:06 > 0:39:11- That you've got that planning permission is worth lot of money. A great thing to have.- Yes, definitely.

0:39:11 > 0:39:18- What else have we got? - The only other thing he mentioned was because this is solid fuel heating,

0:39:18 > 0:39:23so you've got an oil tank at the back, that could be, compared to gas, expensive.

0:39:23 > 0:39:25So, there we go the house is lovely.

0:39:25 > 0:39:28We are minus something or someone, aren't we?

0:39:28 > 0:39:30We are definitely missing somebody.

0:39:30 > 0:39:34- And yes, who is it, the 23 foot person?- It's Simpson.

0:39:34 > 0:39:38- Simpson the caravan, go get Simpson and test drive this house. - Brilliant.

0:39:41 > 0:39:45Well, it was always going to be about the big guy, wasn't it?

0:39:45 > 0:39:48Yes, will Simpson fit? Might be a bit of a struggle.

0:39:48 > 0:39:54- That's perfect.- That's it, job done.

0:39:57 > 0:39:59It's got a really nice feel to it, this room.

0:39:59 > 0:40:02Second viewing, the atmosphere is getting better and better.

0:40:02 > 0:40:05Let's face it, my property was always going to win.

0:40:05 > 0:40:08- I'm not listening.- Brilliant.

0:40:10 > 0:40:15- Nice.- I really like this. - I do. Sit down for a minute.

0:40:15 > 0:40:17Time to relax. Oh, no, we're off again.

0:40:17 > 0:40:22- I really, really like this house, I mean genuinely.- I do.

0:40:22 > 0:40:27- Absolutely love it. - It is perfect, isn't it?

0:40:27 > 0:40:30I never realised relaxing could be such hard work.

0:40:35 > 0:40:40- Oh, I'm glad I got Simpson on the driveway. It took a bit of manoeuvring didn't it?- Yes, it did.

0:40:40 > 0:40:44At least we'll be able to bring it home, have it here for the week,

0:40:44 > 0:40:49get it prepped, get Simpson ready so he can enjoy our company as well as the caravans he lives with.

0:40:49 > 0:40:52You got any atmospheres?

0:40:52 > 0:40:55No, no atmospheres at all.

0:40:55 > 0:40:57- Brilliant, brilliant.- Perfect. - Glad to hear it.

0:40:57 > 0:41:01So, that must be a case of home sweet Homer then, Nikki.

0:41:01 > 0:41:03Oh, yes, thanks, Ed.

0:41:03 > 0:41:11Gaynor, Sid, not only do both of you look exceedingly at home here but Simpson's made a place for himself.

0:41:11 > 0:41:14- He has.- And it could be argued in caravan terms,

0:41:14 > 0:41:20- Simpson is almost smiling by lifting his windows up in such a manner.- Could be.

0:41:20 > 0:41:24Can you speak caravan, Has he given you any sign of how happy he is?

0:41:24 > 0:41:27He's grunted,

0:41:27 > 0:41:30- when I moved the wheels. - That's a positive sign?

0:41:30 > 0:41:32That's a positive sign, never done that before.

0:41:32 > 0:41:38This is good. But I guess the main focus is not on Simpson's happiness but yours.

0:41:38 > 0:41:42Gaynor, there was a concern on the size of the house when we first came here.

0:41:42 > 0:41:48Definitely, I thought some of the rooms were a little small and I really wasn't sure about the house

0:41:48 > 0:41:52but having come back and done a test drive, I really like it.

0:41:52 > 0:41:58It's really grown on me and I think with the extension it will really enhance the property.

0:41:58 > 0:42:01- It's just a lovely location. - It is lovely.

0:42:01 > 0:42:05And also, you have got a ready made extra bedroom in the form of Simpson

0:42:05 > 0:42:08should you require one throughout any renovations.

0:42:08 > 0:42:10This is all sounding very promising.

0:42:10 > 0:42:12Well, let's think about it.

0:42:12 > 0:42:14Whoa, there.

0:42:14 > 0:42:20We've not done the big question yet, Sid. I think we're almost getting to what your conclusion is.

0:42:20 > 0:42:24- I think you should ask? - Well, I'm reluctant to do it now but here it comes.

0:42:24 > 0:42:31- To buy or not to buy, Sidney, Gaynor and Simpson?- That is the question.

0:42:31 > 0:42:32That is the question.

0:42:32 > 0:42:34What do you think?

0:42:35 > 0:42:36To buy.

0:42:36 > 0:42:43- Yes. - I thought you were going for the no to buy. So, you're going to buy?

0:42:43 > 0:42:47- We will make an offer. - That's fantastic, well done, you.

0:42:47 > 0:42:51- That is fantastic news. We are going to leave you here in your new house. - Thank you.

0:42:51 > 0:42:56- I love it. - Enjoy it.- See you soon. - Thanks a lot, bye.

0:42:57 > 0:43:01That was an exhausting day. Goodnight.

0:43:01 > 0:43:04Brilliant. Ladies and gents, if you are out there

0:43:04 > 0:43:07and struggling for the property of your dreams

0:43:07 > 0:43:10then please don't hesitate and get in touch with the show. Goodnight.
