0:00:02 > 0:00:05Would you hand over your front door keys to complete strangers...

0:00:05 > 0:00:06I can't believe what we've done.

0:00:06 > 0:00:08Coo-ee!

0:00:08 > 0:00:10..in exchange for a massive makeover?

0:00:10 > 0:00:12Red sky at night.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14I'm not sure I would.

0:00:14 > 0:00:17Different people have different tastes.

0:00:17 > 0:00:22I'm Celia Sawyer, and I've been an interior designer for a decade.

0:00:22 > 0:00:25In this series, I'll be introducing families at the end

0:00:25 > 0:00:26of their decorating tether...

0:00:26 > 0:00:30We just can't move forward. Everybody's ideas are so different.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32..to interior designers who are desperate to help.

0:00:32 > 0:00:33Yes!

0:00:33 > 0:00:35The plug for the light.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38But these designers are not professionals.

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Let's just hope they like space films, eh?

0:00:40 > 0:00:42In fact, they're complete amateurs.

0:00:42 > 0:00:43They've wrecked that room.

0:00:43 > 0:00:45That is different.

0:00:45 > 0:00:47What have we done?

0:00:47 > 0:00:48They may have passion...

0:00:48 > 0:00:50I know about composition, dude.

0:00:50 > 0:00:51..they might even have vision...

0:00:51 > 0:00:53I like to create a temple of hope.

0:00:53 > 0:00:57Lovely colours, lovely colours, lovely colours.

0:00:57 > 0:00:59..but I'm giving them just five days to do the job.

0:00:59 > 0:01:00You beauty.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03My question is, will it be tears of joy...

0:01:03 > 0:01:05- Wow.- Wow, look at this.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07Couldn't have wished for anything better.

0:01:07 > 0:01:08..or just plain tears?

0:01:08 > 0:01:10I'm regretting it.

0:01:10 > 0:01:11He's going to hate it.

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Starting a career in interior design isn't easy.

0:01:19 > 0:01:22Mine began by chance when I did up my own place.

0:01:22 > 0:01:26Friends and neighbours saw it and asked me to do theirs too.

0:01:26 > 0:01:28Some might say I got a lucky break.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32But it's what you do with an opportunity like that that spells success.

0:01:32 > 0:01:34It's very important to remember that you have a

0:01:34 > 0:01:37style as an interior designer, but that doesn't mean you just

0:01:37 > 0:01:40stamp your own taste on someone else's home.

0:01:40 > 0:01:41What it means is you have a style

0:01:41 > 0:01:45and you adapt it for your client's needs.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47In this series, I'm giving a break to keen amateurs

0:01:47 > 0:01:50who are at the point I was when my career began.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53Whilst my friends were out in the park playing football,

0:01:53 > 0:01:56I was the one sat indoors watching interior design programmes.

0:01:56 > 0:01:57I'll be testing them to see

0:01:57 > 0:02:00if they have what it takes to become professional...

0:02:00 > 0:02:02I really want to show people what I'm capable of

0:02:02 > 0:02:05and let loose my interior design skills.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07..by hooking them up with families

0:02:07 > 0:02:10so desperate for help they'll try anything.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12But it's not going to be easy, as the home owners

0:02:12 > 0:02:15and designers won't actually meet until it's all done.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22This week I'm in County Durham with two couples

0:02:22 > 0:02:26so stuck in design deadlock, they're prepared to try anything.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30First up is the old steel town of Consett,

0:02:30 > 0:02:32and the terraced house where family of four,

0:02:32 > 0:02:35the Geoghegans, have been living for the past 11 years.

0:02:36 > 0:02:39Lorry driver John is the daddy of the house,

0:02:39 > 0:02:41and he knows exactly what he likes.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44Nothing too dark and nothing gaudy and nothing horrible.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47It's all just lovely, isn't it? Nice and cream.

0:02:47 > 0:02:49- Boring.- Boring.

0:02:49 > 0:02:53I've got a really good burning passion for creams.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56In fact, even the inside of John's lorry is cream.

0:02:57 > 0:02:59He simply can't get enough of it.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Cream furnishings, cream walls, cream everywhere with

0:03:02 > 0:03:05a little bit of, you know, brown just to darken things down.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11But wife Rachel is desperate for a chance to express herself.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14There's nothing in our house that sums up me, it's all John's.

0:03:14 > 0:03:17I would like reds, or teals.

0:03:18 > 0:03:22Every morning when I wake up I just feel as if it's a nightmare.

0:03:22 > 0:03:24I just need that mood lifted.

0:03:24 > 0:03:28I think a bit of colour would make our lives happier.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30But it's not just colour that's the problem.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33The kitchen layout doesn't work for their extended family either.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36There has been occasions where people have had to go through

0:03:36 > 0:03:38the back door and go through the passage

0:03:38 > 0:03:41and up the stairs to go to the toilet, to come back down.

0:03:41 > 0:03:42And the kids, if they want to go,

0:03:42 > 0:03:45they've got to sneak underneath the table.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47It's not functional. It doesn't work.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Things are so bad that John and Rachel have agreed to let two

0:03:50 > 0:03:53amateur designers loose on their home.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56We need somebody to come in and help us

0:03:56 > 0:03:59because we can't work it out between the two of us.

0:03:59 > 0:04:02I think John's terrified of handing over the keys,

0:04:02 > 0:04:05but I'm hoping my cream nightmare is going to be over.

0:04:11 > 0:04:13Well, clearly they need this intervention.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16As John and Rachel won't meet the designers to give them

0:04:16 > 0:04:19the brief, I'd better see the problem for myself.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25- Hello, there. - Hello, you must be John.

0:04:25 > 0:04:26I am.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28- Nice to meet you.- You too.

0:04:28 > 0:04:31And where better to start than the couple's cream bedroom.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33Oh, OK.

0:04:33 > 0:04:38Just observing how beautifully painted this is(!)

0:04:38 > 0:04:39Bit of a bodger, are you, John?

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Yeah, John the Bodger.

0:04:41 > 0:04:42LAUGHTER

0:04:42 > 0:04:45Looks like John needs a spell in finishing school.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47Rachel, you can't feel that this is

0:04:47 > 0:04:50a lovely romantic environment, surely?

0:04:50 > 0:04:52If we go too dark, it's...

0:04:52 > 0:04:55Sounds like you're trying to get your own way, doesn't he?

0:04:55 > 0:04:57It does. It's horrible, it's just like a box.

0:04:57 > 0:04:58A cream box.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00And you like this, do you, John?

0:05:00 > 0:05:01You don't want any colour at all?

0:05:01 > 0:05:02No.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06Well, this is it, the big moment.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08Time for you to leave us.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11Hand over your keys. Come on!

0:05:13 > 0:05:14See you in a few days.

0:05:14 > 0:05:15- Bye.- Bye-bye!

0:05:15 > 0:05:17The Geoghegans will be back in two days to give me

0:05:17 > 0:05:20feedback on the first two rooms.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22Bye-bye, house of cream.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26I don't know what I've let myself in for here.

0:05:26 > 0:05:27John, oh...

0:05:27 > 0:05:30It's this, all the time, over Rachel.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33And I think it's about time Rachel had her voice heard.

0:05:33 > 0:05:36They know that a total of three rooms will be transformed in

0:05:36 > 0:05:38their home, but up until now,

0:05:38 > 0:05:40they've had no idea who'll be doing them.

0:05:44 > 0:05:45First up, I'm bringing in a

0:05:45 > 0:05:4842-year-old mother of two from Somerset.

0:05:48 > 0:05:49Here we go.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Hi, I'm Leila. I love colour.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54I'd hate to live in a world of black and white,

0:05:54 > 0:05:56it would be so boring.

0:05:56 > 0:05:57I feel like I was born in a rainbow.

0:05:57 > 0:06:01It's something about colour and pattern that makes me feel alive.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Interior design is something I really want to do.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07I love the way it makes me feel and the creativity that I can have.

0:06:07 > 0:06:10There is no way that I'm going to play it safe with your home.

0:06:10 > 0:06:12I'm going to add a lot of colour and patterns.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16You've been playing it safe for too long. You are so lucky.

0:06:16 > 0:06:17Eh?!

0:06:17 > 0:06:20That's your nightmare, your proper nightmare.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22Aye. See who pops up next, because

0:06:22 > 0:06:26I tell you what, it can't be any worse.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29Next in is a 38-year-old venture capitalist

0:06:29 > 0:06:32who puts the "prima" in prima donna.

0:06:32 > 0:06:34Hi, I'm Nic, from Milan, Italy,

0:06:34 > 0:06:36the capital of design, creativity and style.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39So, don't worry, you are in safe hands.

0:06:39 > 0:06:41But we don't live in Italy. We live in Consett.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43# This is a man's world... #

0:06:45 > 0:06:47I'm really excited about getting the opportunity

0:06:47 > 0:06:49to transform someone's place.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52I think it's a gift of my experience, it's my style,

0:06:52 > 0:06:54it's a bit of my life that I'm giving to you.

0:06:54 > 0:06:59I would describe my style as contemporary, cosy, cool.

0:06:59 > 0:07:01I am Italian, and that brings a lot of passion,

0:07:01 > 0:07:04a lot of creativity, but also I think I've mixed Italian style

0:07:04 > 0:07:06with lots of the countries I've lived in.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08He can do all of the house.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10Cos that is lush.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13Our life's boring at the minute and needs livened up.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16And you will like it. You will.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20It's a design taste-off.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23Neutral tones versus vibrant colour.

0:07:23 > 0:07:24Remind you of anyone?

0:07:25 > 0:07:29Each designer has seen a floor plan in advance.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32Nic's got £3,500 for the lounge

0:07:32 > 0:07:35and Leila has the same in the bedroom.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38But this is the first time they've actually stood in the space

0:07:38 > 0:07:40they're transforming.

0:07:40 > 0:07:41Wow.

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Yeah, not exactly like my place.

0:07:44 > 0:07:48Probably in a bit of a bad way on the walls and the cracks.

0:07:48 > 0:07:49The pictures on the floor.

0:07:49 > 0:07:52I mean, that looks like a graveyard.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55Yes, needs a little bit of work in here, I think.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57No colour at all.

0:07:57 > 0:07:59It's crying out for help.

0:07:59 > 0:08:01These novice designers have been given some

0:08:01 > 0:08:04information about the home owners and their design dilemmas,

0:08:04 > 0:08:08but I want to make sure they completely understand the brief.

0:08:08 > 0:08:10- Hi.- Hi.- Hi, meet Nic.

0:08:10 > 0:08:12- Hi, Nic, nice to meet you. - Hi, nice to meet you.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14So, Leila, Rachel wants a really romantic feel,

0:08:14 > 0:08:16and actually so does John.

0:08:16 > 0:08:21No kids, so they can close it off and just have their own time there.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24Nic, they want a room that they can all relax in as a family,

0:08:24 > 0:08:27but Rachel wants a wow factor in the room.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31We have cream versus colour here.

0:08:31 > 0:08:32Good luck,

0:08:32 > 0:08:34because you're going to need it.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38As well as working on their individual rooms,

0:08:38 > 0:08:42Leila and Nic will have to combine their very different styles

0:08:42 > 0:08:45and collaborate in the kitchen later in the week.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51Right, this design overhaul needs to begin,

0:08:51 > 0:08:55so I'm sending in builder Russell to help them create their visions.

0:08:55 > 0:08:59His first job is to strip Nic's living room back to basics.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05As you see, we've basically stripped down all of the walls.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07The doors are all going to be changed,

0:09:07 > 0:09:08we're going to make sliding doors.

0:09:08 > 0:09:12The theme for this room, basically, is for it to be a combination

0:09:12 > 0:09:16of a gentleman club, but also a place where kids can stay.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18So it's almost like a family club.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20Rachel wanted a wow factor,

0:09:20 > 0:09:23but I'm not entirely sure this is what she had in mind.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Upstairs, Leila's planning to cover

0:09:28 > 0:09:32all four walls with wild wallpaper.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34A feature wall maybe, but the whole room?

0:09:34 > 0:09:37My God, it's going to be amazing.

0:09:38 > 0:09:39I'm worried.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42This could feel way too busy.

0:09:42 > 0:09:43This is definitely more Rachel.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46She wanted the colour, John, obviously, is a bit more neutral,

0:09:46 > 0:09:50so he's going to have to really, hopefully, go with this.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53And it is going to be a massive colour explosion in here.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56Massive colour explosion for the man who likes cream?

0:09:56 > 0:10:01May not be the best move for a budding interior designer, Leila.

0:10:02 > 0:10:04Just six miles away,

0:10:04 > 0:10:05in the neighbouring town of Stanley,

0:10:05 > 0:10:07lives a second couple desperate for

0:10:07 > 0:10:10some interiors intervention.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13Newly-wed pensioners, Brian and Eileen Ridley, can't work out

0:10:13 > 0:10:18how to combine her feminine taste with his masculine converted chapel.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21And they want a home that suits them both.

0:10:21 > 0:10:23Well, I bought this place in 1988.

0:10:23 > 0:10:27Probably now, it's in need for a little bit of updating.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30Brian met his second wife, Eileen, two years ago,

0:10:30 > 0:10:33and though she fell in love with him

0:10:33 > 0:10:36she wasn't so keen on his house.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38I lived here a long time with my late wife, and she'd had

0:10:38 > 0:10:42a hand in doing all the furnishings and what have you, you know?

0:10:42 > 0:10:47It was still very much their combined taste rather than mine.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50The decor was, for me, quite heavy and oppressive.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53Victorian hunting lodge, I think, about sums it up.

0:10:53 > 0:10:55I just thought, "I can't really live here."

0:10:55 > 0:10:59All these animal heads staring at me with their dead eyes.

0:10:59 > 0:11:01HOWL

0:11:01 > 0:11:05I would prefer things to be lighter and brighter.

0:11:05 > 0:11:06I'm certainly not a minimalist,

0:11:06 > 0:11:11but I'm not that keen on having all that much to dust.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13As the relative newcomer here,

0:11:13 > 0:11:16Eileen has found it tricky to put her stamp on the place.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18It does feel a bit strange,

0:11:18 > 0:11:19as a second wife, to come

0:11:19 > 0:11:21into somebody else's bedroom

0:11:21 > 0:11:23and try to make it yours.

0:11:23 > 0:11:27Maybe it would just take that designer's eye to make it all

0:11:27 > 0:11:29more reflective of who we are as a couple.

0:11:29 > 0:11:30Yeah.

0:11:30 > 0:11:31Really, at the end of the day,

0:11:31 > 0:11:34it's more about Eileen being happy

0:11:34 > 0:11:35with the home.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38I would just like Brian and I to have something that's ours.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41So that it's almost like the fresh start that we've been

0:11:41 > 0:11:42given as a couple.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44The old is gone, the new has come,

0:11:44 > 0:11:46the best is yet to be.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Well, change is on its way.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51I'm heading to see Brian and Eileen's issues for myself.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57- Hi!- Hello.- Come in.

0:11:57 > 0:11:58Are you going to show me around?

0:11:58 > 0:12:00- Yes, come through.- Great.

0:12:01 > 0:12:05Let's start in the heart of the home, the kitchen.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07And right away, I can see that the partition

0:12:07 > 0:12:09is something I'd want to change.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13It's a very interesting shape, isn't it?

0:12:13 > 0:12:16When we're entertaining, I've got to peer through the teapots to

0:12:16 > 0:12:18actually talk to people.

0:12:18 > 0:12:20And what would be your worst nightmare in here?

0:12:20 > 0:12:23Some of the kitchens that you see now look more like laboratories...

0:12:23 > 0:12:26- Right.- ..where you would dissect a mouse rather than cook a dinner.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28So, not too contemporary.

0:12:28 > 0:12:29Not too contemporary.

0:12:31 > 0:12:32And this is the bedroom.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35Wow.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37- Interesting. - LAUGHING:- Yes.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39Is this your favourite room?

0:12:39 > 0:12:40Not especially, no.

0:12:40 > 0:12:41Not your taste.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43Not my taste.

0:12:43 > 0:12:45It's a nice thick carpet and obviously very good quality,

0:12:45 > 0:12:50but I think this kind of hectic floral pattern may have had its day.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52You could be right there, actually.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58So Brian, Eileen, this is it.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00Time to hand over those keys.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04Come on. Be brave.

0:13:04 > 0:13:06Good luck. See you soon.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Brian and Eileen have two nail-biting days

0:13:09 > 0:13:11before they see the results.

0:13:11 > 0:13:12Bye, house.

0:13:12 > 0:13:15- Bye, house.- See you when I get back.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17I think the house could be amazing.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20It needs a lot of love and attention,

0:13:20 > 0:13:22and let's see what we get.

0:13:22 > 0:13:23And who we get.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26It's time to see which amateur designers I'm

0:13:26 > 0:13:28unleashing on their chapel of love.

0:13:31 > 0:13:33First in, a 34-year-old self-proclaimed

0:13:33 > 0:13:35tree hugger from Merseyside.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Here goes.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39Hi, my name's Sam.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41I'm a tattoo artist, not that you'd ever guess,

0:13:41 > 0:13:44and I can't really think of anybody who's got a style like mine.

0:13:44 > 0:13:47It's somewhere between Victorian, Gothic,

0:13:47 > 0:13:50definitely more Bavarian palace than Buckingham Palace.

0:13:50 > 0:13:51As you can see, behind me

0:13:51 > 0:13:53I have my altar which is jam-packed

0:13:53 > 0:13:55full of very beautiful things, because

0:13:55 > 0:13:57I believe in energy in life,

0:13:57 > 0:14:00and feeling the energy in a building.

0:14:00 > 0:14:01So I can't wait to get into your house

0:14:01 > 0:14:03and see what the building wants to tell me,

0:14:03 > 0:14:05see what secret it's got.

0:14:05 > 0:14:07The fact that you're putting your home in my hands says to me

0:14:07 > 0:14:09that you guys are ready for an adventure

0:14:09 > 0:14:12and I think I'm just the girl to take you on it.

0:14:12 > 0:14:13- Oh, dear.- Gosh.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15I think I like her as a person.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18I'm not really sure what she's going to do to the house.

0:14:20 > 0:14:24Following in Sam's footsteps is a 53-year-old mum of two from Devon.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29Hi, I'm Shirley, and I'm a fashion lecturer,

0:14:29 > 0:14:31so I do know what I'm doing.

0:14:31 > 0:14:32I know what I want.

0:14:34 > 0:14:35And I'll push for it.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38Most of the time, I get it.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41# One of these days these boots are going to walk all over you... #

0:14:43 > 0:14:45My personality is big,

0:14:45 > 0:14:48so I always strive to go out and put together the things that

0:14:48 > 0:14:51I know are unique, only to me,

0:14:51 > 0:14:54in a very selfish way.

0:14:54 > 0:14:55Mistakes?

0:14:55 > 0:14:57This lady doesn't make mistakes.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02So it's going to be very much her taste and what she wants.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Is she going to listen to what we want, I wonder?

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Well, I wonder too.

0:15:07 > 0:15:08For the first two days,

0:15:08 > 0:15:12the designers will be working on their individual rooms.

0:15:12 > 0:15:16Shirley's been given the cluttered kitchen and a budget of £8,500.

0:15:16 > 0:15:21Sam's got the old bedroom and 2,500 to transform that.

0:15:23 > 0:15:24Okey dokey.

0:15:24 > 0:15:29A lot of stuff. My gosh! Look at this.

0:15:29 > 0:15:33It's like a giant tub of margarine has exploded in here.

0:15:33 > 0:15:36And that's just like a magic eye picture that's gone wrong.

0:15:36 > 0:15:39It needs bringing up to date.

0:15:39 > 0:15:41It needs a soul.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43A bit scary, aren't they?

0:15:43 > 0:15:46Like an army of advancing wardrobes

0:15:46 > 0:15:48marching across the bedroom towards you.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50As well as working on their own rooms,

0:15:50 > 0:15:54they will be collaborating on the large living room later in the week.

0:15:56 > 0:16:00But for now I want to be sure they understand the brief.

0:16:00 > 0:16:04- Shirley, hi.- Hi.- Come and meet Sam. - Oh.- Sam, meet Shirley.

0:16:04 > 0:16:07- Nice to meet you. Hi.- Nice to meet you.- Good to meet you too.

0:16:07 > 0:16:09So, what do you think of your rooms?

0:16:09 > 0:16:12Oh, overwhelming.

0:16:12 > 0:16:13- Really?- Yeah.

0:16:13 > 0:16:19- This room has to be made a much more sociable room, OK?- Yeah.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21Because Eileen's cooking in there,

0:16:21 > 0:16:23- and her friends are in the bottom level...- Yes.

0:16:23 > 0:16:27- ..and she has to lean over to see them and speak to them.- Yeah.

0:16:27 > 0:16:29So they want it to be a really fun room.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32- A nice room that they can socialise in.- I understand that.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34- Sam.- Hi.

0:16:34 > 0:16:38Your brief is that they want a nice relaxing room,

0:16:38 > 0:16:41so you've got to be very careful there not to put too much

0:16:41 > 0:16:44of what you would like in your home in their home.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47So, girls, you've got to get on with it now.

0:16:47 > 0:16:50- This is your big chance, OK?- Yes, boss.- We hear that. No pressure.

0:16:52 > 0:16:54Pressure? Well, you know what they say -

0:16:54 > 0:16:57if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,

0:16:57 > 0:17:00which is not so easy if you're supposed to be designing it.

0:17:00 > 0:17:04I'm going to get rid of all of this and create space.

0:17:04 > 0:17:09Dividing wall really cuts the kitchen in half

0:17:09 > 0:17:11and makes it really, really poky.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14That's definitely got to go! That one and that one.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16MUSIC: So Macho by Sinitta

0:17:16 > 0:17:19To help Shirley and Sam achieve their goals,

0:17:19 > 0:17:21I'm giving them builder Nathan.

0:17:21 > 0:17:25Shirley will be happy when everything's empty and clean.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28You've got it. You've got the picture.

0:17:28 > 0:17:29I'm a little bit scared of Shirley, as well,

0:17:29 > 0:17:32so I'm just doing what I'm told so I stay out of trouble.

0:17:32 > 0:17:35In the master bedroom, the margarine wardrobes are hitting the skip

0:17:35 > 0:17:39as budding designer Sam branches out.

0:17:39 > 0:17:43So my big idea for the bed, and it is quite a big idea,

0:17:43 > 0:17:45I really want to make a four poster bed,

0:17:45 > 0:17:48- but the four posts are going to be trees.- Trees?

0:17:48 > 0:17:51Yeah, I think it's just going to feel very boudoir-ish

0:17:51 > 0:17:52and very special to them.

0:17:52 > 0:17:55I hope so. That's the vibe.

0:17:55 > 0:17:58Either that or Liberace has exploded in here.

0:17:58 > 0:18:01Sam's also committing an interior design crime -

0:18:01 > 0:18:04painting over wallpaper. Risky if it's this old.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07For the theme for this room, I really like that feel of, like,

0:18:07 > 0:18:09The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11Bringing that touch of Narnia,

0:18:11 > 0:18:15so that you've got that kind of slightly fantastical feel.

0:18:15 > 0:18:19I can't say that's a design inspiration I've ever used.

0:18:19 > 0:18:21The purple paint is on.

0:18:21 > 0:18:24Yeah, it's all gone really well,

0:18:24 > 0:18:26which is a bit scary.

0:18:26 > 0:18:27Yes, it is.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30MUSIC: Half The World Away by Oasis

0:18:30 > 0:18:34Six miles away in Consett, Leila may have put John's dislike of colour

0:18:34 > 0:18:38out of her mind, but John certainly can't put Leila out of his.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41He's filling his nan and mum in on his worries.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43She looks perfectly normal,

0:18:43 > 0:18:48but her tastes suggest that she's come down from a different planet.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51But that's her ideas, you see, John.

0:18:51 > 0:18:55Different people have different tastes in everything.

0:18:55 > 0:18:59She is different. That's the thing. She's different to everybody else.

0:18:59 > 0:19:00Oh, John.

0:19:00 > 0:19:04I think Leila's the best one to have, because she's got colour.

0:19:04 > 0:19:06You've got to give the girl a chance.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08There's more colours going to go into that house

0:19:08 > 0:19:11than what's on a snooker table, I can tell you that.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Well, it just might be nice now. Just hold on.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16I do hope Nan's right.

0:19:16 > 0:19:17I really do.

0:19:19 > 0:19:22MUSIC: Aquarius (Let the Sunshine In) by The Fifth Dimension

0:19:22 > 0:19:26At the house, it appears John's worst fears are coming true.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30Leila has stamped her colourful taste onto the walls.

0:19:31 > 0:19:36Downstairs, Nic is struggling to decide between 50 shades of grey.

0:19:36 > 0:19:39Nic's proving to be a proper Italian prima donna.

0:19:39 > 0:19:41He's taking ages to pick paint

0:19:41 > 0:19:43and see what it looks like when it's dry,

0:19:43 > 0:19:44and we're on a very tight schedule.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47I just can't see his room being done in time.

0:19:47 > 0:19:49He needs to hurry up and make a decision,

0:19:49 > 0:19:52as I'm back tomorrow and that room needs to be good.

0:19:58 > 0:20:00It's a new day in County Durham,

0:20:00 > 0:20:02and, at the chapel, things aren't going too well

0:20:02 > 0:20:04for tattoo artist Sam.

0:20:05 > 0:20:09The moisture in paint has a habit of unsticking old wallpaper.

0:20:09 > 0:20:10Oh.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13She should have stripped.

0:20:13 > 0:20:16God, that's not ideal, is it?

0:20:16 > 0:20:18Oh, that's just completely coming off.

0:20:18 > 0:20:20Good news is - paint looks nice.

0:20:20 > 0:20:24Bad news is - it's now falling off the wall.

0:20:24 > 0:20:26Win some, lose some.

0:20:26 > 0:20:27Only one thing for it.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30MUSIC: Rip It Up by Orange Juice

0:20:30 > 0:20:31Argh! Argh!

0:20:39 > 0:20:42Blissfully unaware of the chaos in their home,

0:20:42 > 0:20:45Brian and Eileen are having drinks with friends.

0:20:45 > 0:20:49They probably need it after taking such a huge risk.

0:20:49 > 0:20:52I think it's really interesting to invite somebody in,

0:20:52 > 0:20:54to actually remodel everything.

0:20:54 > 0:20:56We've handed over the keys.

0:20:56 > 0:20:57Our home is in their hands

0:20:57 > 0:21:02so they can go into any room and do pretty much what they choose.

0:21:02 > 0:21:06I think it's exciting. I wouldn't because...

0:21:06 > 0:21:10- Because I wouldn't let him! - I knew that was coming!

0:21:10 > 0:21:13- Whose idea was this in the first place?- Yeah! Whose?

0:21:16 > 0:21:20I'm quite excited to go back to see which rooms they've done,

0:21:20 > 0:21:22but I'm also going to have a bit of a sleepless night,

0:21:22 > 0:21:26worrying about what they've done to those rooms, I must admit.

0:21:26 > 0:21:31I mean, to be honest, are you just putting on a brave face or...?

0:21:31 > 0:21:34A little bit, maybe.

0:21:34 > 0:21:35What have we done?

0:21:36 > 0:21:38What, indeed!

0:21:44 > 0:21:48In Stanley, the flowers are blooming, the rivers are running

0:21:48 > 0:21:49and the trees...

0:21:49 > 0:21:53Well, they look like they've been chopped down for Sam.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55All righty.

0:21:55 > 0:21:56It's a tree.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59You know what? That's not bad.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02- I have five of these.- Good, good.

0:22:02 > 0:22:06The more trees the better. Let's go! Let's do it!

0:22:06 > 0:22:11Inside, the flowery carpet's coming out at last

0:22:11 > 0:22:13and Shirley's on a roll.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16Yes! At last!

0:22:16 > 0:22:18She's ordered London print wallpaper

0:22:18 > 0:22:22to help bring the chapel kitchen into the 21st century.

0:22:22 > 0:22:26I clearly remember Eileen saying she didn't want contemporary.

0:22:29 > 0:22:34Back at the Geoghegans, Leila's rainbow room is taking shape.

0:22:34 > 0:22:37They're my babies. My babies!

0:22:37 > 0:22:40Bedrooms should be relaxing places to unwind.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42Leila's design is worrying me.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46John is my concern about most of this room.

0:22:46 > 0:22:50I'm hoping that he's going to come round to a bit of colour

0:22:50 > 0:22:52because he hasn't really got a lot of choice.

0:22:52 > 0:22:54Love the colour!

0:22:54 > 0:22:57Downstairs, Nic's finally whittled it down to just one shade of grey.

0:22:57 > 0:23:00MUSIC: Fade To Grey by Visage

0:23:00 > 0:23:02As Leila will soon have to join forces with him,

0:23:02 > 0:23:06his one colour revamp is setting off alarm bells.

0:23:06 > 0:23:07Oh, my God.

0:23:07 > 0:23:10That is very brave.

0:23:10 > 0:23:11I like the colour.

0:23:11 > 0:23:14I'm just not sure about the ceiling.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17If Leila loves rainbows but Nic only likes grey,

0:23:17 > 0:23:21how on earth are they going to work together on a joint room?

0:23:21 > 0:23:24I am a bit nervous, actually, about doing a design with him.

0:23:24 > 0:23:25To be honest with you,

0:23:25 > 0:23:29I'm actually not looking forward to it at the moment.

0:23:29 > 0:23:33Over at the chapel and it's all hands on deck.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36I've got one hour to Celia coming back

0:23:36 > 0:23:39and I've never done grouting before.

0:23:39 > 0:23:43Next door, the tree bed's having a spot of last minute surgery

0:23:43 > 0:23:45before its big unveiling.

0:23:45 > 0:23:46There we go.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49I'm all for the design trend of bringing the outside in,

0:23:49 > 0:23:52but this is bonkers.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55Ah! No! Ah, no! I like that.

0:23:57 > 0:23:58It's time for Sam and Shirley

0:23:58 > 0:24:01to down tools and make themselves scarce.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04Brian and Eileen will be back soon

0:24:04 > 0:24:06and I need to see the rooms for myself.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13Before, the bedroom didn't reflect its occupants' tastes

0:24:13 > 0:24:15with its highly-patterned carpet,

0:24:15 > 0:24:18cream wallpaper and old-fashioned furniture.

0:24:19 > 0:24:23Now, with a budget of £2,500,

0:24:23 > 0:24:26the bedroom has been transformed with statement purple walls,

0:24:26 > 0:24:28upcycled furniture

0:24:28 > 0:24:31and a feature tree trunk bed.

0:24:32 > 0:24:33Wow.

0:24:37 > 0:24:38The bed's interesting.

0:24:40 > 0:24:42I feel like I'm in a forest.

0:24:45 > 0:24:49I don't like the fact that the tree is over the window.

0:24:49 > 0:24:51This room would have worked much better

0:24:51 > 0:24:54had the bed been on this wall.

0:24:54 > 0:24:58That window is a feature, so we're kind of covering that.

0:25:01 > 0:25:03I mean, it's a bit fantasy land.

0:25:03 > 0:25:07I wouldn't say it's in keeping with the property at all.

0:25:07 > 0:25:08It's a childish room.

0:25:08 > 0:25:13It's something a 12-year-old would absolutely adore,

0:25:13 > 0:25:15but not a mature couple.

0:25:15 > 0:25:19Right, I've seen enough. On to Shirley's kitchen.

0:25:21 > 0:25:25Before, it was divided into two with a partition wall

0:25:25 > 0:25:28and filled with trinkets and traditional furniture.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33With the budget of £8,500,

0:25:33 > 0:25:36the space has been dramatically altered.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39Shirley removed the central wall, replaced the units,

0:25:39 > 0:25:42and hung statement London wallpaper,

0:25:42 > 0:25:44all very contemporary.

0:25:48 > 0:25:49Right, it's very bright.

0:25:51 > 0:25:56I love the fact they've opened the space up. That's a really good job,

0:25:56 > 0:25:59but it feels very cold.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01I hate the wallpaper.

0:26:01 > 0:26:03I mean, at least if you're going to do something like that,

0:26:03 > 0:26:06reflect on where your house is.

0:26:06 > 0:26:11It is not, in any way, shape or form,

0:26:11 > 0:26:13in keeping with the rest of the property,

0:26:13 > 0:26:16and Eileen, specifically, said

0:26:16 > 0:26:20that she didn't want a kitchen like a laboratory,

0:26:20 > 0:26:24and, to me, apart from a few test tubes missing,

0:26:24 > 0:26:26there's not much difference.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31And Brian and Eileen are getting closer.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34It's about sympathy for the period of the property

0:26:34 > 0:26:36and for the history of the property,

0:26:36 > 0:26:41and I think we both feel very protective about that.

0:26:41 > 0:26:44I don't think they're going to like it. I really, really don't.

0:26:44 > 0:26:46I really don't. Oh, my goodness.

0:26:48 > 0:26:49It's the moment of truth.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52Welcome back, Brian and Eileen.

0:26:52 > 0:26:56I think I'll show them Sam's bedroom first.

0:26:56 > 0:26:58- Open your eyes.- I daren't!

0:26:59 > 0:27:01SHE GASPS

0:27:03 > 0:27:06- Wow!- Oh, my goodness.

0:27:06 > 0:27:07Gosh.

0:27:16 > 0:27:18Love the bed.

0:27:18 > 0:27:19Yeah.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24- Wow.- Just the trees are...

0:27:24 > 0:27:25The dogs are going to love that.

0:27:25 > 0:27:27We're going to have to keep them out.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32- Gosh.- Wow, I love the wardrobe.

0:27:32 > 0:27:34Yeah, yeah, that's beautiful.

0:27:34 > 0:27:36Oh, the carpet's lovely.

0:27:36 > 0:27:37That's gorgeous. Yeah.

0:27:37 > 0:27:40- Because it was quite a busy carpet before.- It was very busy.

0:27:40 > 0:27:42- Very busy, yes.- Yeah, there was too much going on.

0:27:42 > 0:27:45- And I think this is our old furniture.- It is.

0:27:45 > 0:27:47- What a brilliant idea.- Wow. - That's good.

0:27:47 > 0:27:49I'm really pleased you like it.

0:27:49 > 0:27:53I wouldn't have chosen dark purple, although I did in my teens.

0:27:53 > 0:27:55I see you as quite a colourful lady.

0:27:55 > 0:27:58Yeah. It works, though. It's good.

0:27:58 > 0:28:01Well, I'm really pleased, but you haven't seen the other room yet.

0:28:01 > 0:28:04- I know, we've got one more room to go.- So that's next.

0:28:04 > 0:28:06Fingers firmly crossed.

0:28:07 > 0:28:09Now open your eyes!

0:28:09 > 0:28:11SHE GASPS

0:28:11 > 0:28:14- Whoa!- Wow!

0:28:14 > 0:28:16- Oh, my lord!- It's bright!

0:28:22 > 0:28:25- Are we in the right house? - Are we in the same house?

0:28:25 > 0:28:30I don't think we are. I didn't think this space was this big.

0:28:30 > 0:28:33- What do you think?- It is so different to the bedroom...

0:28:36 > 0:28:39..but it's absolutely fabulous.

0:28:39 > 0:28:43- And the walls! I love the wallpaper. - The wallpaper, yeah.- Yeah.

0:28:43 > 0:28:47We have a London kitchen in our Geordie house!

0:28:47 > 0:28:50Man, this is just phenomenal! I love it.

0:28:50 > 0:28:52You did mention that you didn't want a white kitchen

0:28:52 > 0:28:55that looked quite sort of sterile and like a laboratory.

0:28:55 > 0:28:59But it works. It's amazing and I absolutely love it.

0:28:59 > 0:29:01Honestly, I'm going to cry.

0:29:01 > 0:29:03Fabulous. Fabulous.

0:29:03 > 0:29:06I was so shocked when they came in

0:29:06 > 0:29:09and said, "We love it!"

0:29:09 > 0:29:11How did that happen?

0:29:11 > 0:29:13- I think they've really excelled themselves.- Oh, definitely.

0:29:13 > 0:29:15- Definitely. - Really excelled themselves.

0:29:15 > 0:29:18Before the amateur designers move on to the joint room,

0:29:18 > 0:29:22they need to get the all-important client feedback.

0:29:22 > 0:29:23- Hello, girls.- Hello.- Hi.

0:29:23 > 0:29:26- Welcome back.- Thank you.

0:29:26 > 0:29:28Let's start with you, Shirley.

0:29:28 > 0:29:31Explain to me the London wallpaper.

0:29:31 > 0:29:35Why London when we're in County Durham?

0:29:35 > 0:29:37I just loved it. It felt right

0:29:37 > 0:29:39and that's enough for me.

0:29:42 > 0:29:45- But you know what, Shirley?- Yes.

0:29:45 > 0:29:49- You're very lucky this time, because they love it.- Yes!

0:29:49 > 0:29:53- Sorry.- So, well done.- Oh, my God!

0:29:56 > 0:29:58- Sam.- Hi.

0:30:00 > 0:30:02- We've got a very purple room. - I know.

0:30:02 > 0:30:04And the bed...!

0:30:04 > 0:30:06I have to say, though...

0:30:06 > 0:30:09- they loved it.- Oh, God!

0:30:09 > 0:30:12- They loved it again!- OK.

0:30:12 > 0:30:14Now, the question is, of course,

0:30:14 > 0:30:18we have the most important room of the house to do next,

0:30:18 > 0:30:22how are you two going to work together? And do you think,

0:30:22 > 0:30:26how are we going to put these two very different styles into one room?

0:30:26 > 0:30:28They want a room they can relax in.

0:30:28 > 0:30:31- So I wish you the best of luck. - Thank you.- Thank you.

0:30:31 > 0:30:33You've got two days.

0:30:33 > 0:30:34Two days?!

0:30:36 > 0:30:40I'm giving them a budget of £4,000 to design this amazing space.

0:30:40 > 0:30:44But as they've both got their individual designs right,

0:30:44 > 0:30:48I worry that they may struggle when it comes to compromising now.

0:30:51 > 0:30:54Back in Consett, Nic and Leila

0:30:54 > 0:30:57are running out of time on their individual rooms.

0:30:58 > 0:31:00We've got about 22 seconds left.

0:31:04 > 0:31:07Slightly higher. Perfect, perfect, perfect.

0:31:07 > 0:31:10I'd better take a good look at what they've done before I show

0:31:10 > 0:31:12the clients, John and Rachel.

0:31:14 > 0:31:16For the past 12 years,

0:31:16 > 0:31:20the living room's been catering to John's taste - cream.

0:31:20 > 0:31:26Nic used his £3,500 budget to transform the space, stripping the

0:31:26 > 0:31:31plaster to expose the brick, adding grey to the walls and ceiling,

0:31:31 > 0:31:35and accessorising with a mixture of leather and soft furnishings.

0:31:35 > 0:31:38I can see who Nic's trying to please.

0:31:38 > 0:31:41It's very manly.

0:31:41 > 0:31:44Gosh! Oh, that's awful!

0:31:44 > 0:31:47- LAUGHS:- What is that?!

0:31:47 > 0:31:49God, it's dreadful!

0:31:49 > 0:31:52I don't feel it's a family environment at all.

0:31:52 > 0:31:54It's definitely a bachelor pad.

0:31:54 > 0:31:57I'm not saying I hate it, though, because I don't.

0:31:57 > 0:32:00- I think we'll be surprised with what we're going to see. - I think we'll be in for a shock.

0:32:00 > 0:32:04They wanted wow factor, relaxing family room...

0:32:04 > 0:32:09The only wow factor, I would say, in here is, "Wow, isn't it dark?"

0:32:09 > 0:32:11- There's going to be no cream.- No.

0:32:11 > 0:32:12Fingers crossed, no cream.

0:32:12 > 0:32:15We've been waiting for colour in the house for years.

0:32:15 > 0:32:17I'm just going to see if I can watch TV.

0:32:19 > 0:32:23No. I'm all right here, but I have got to sit like this.

0:32:25 > 0:32:28Fireplace is all right. It's done well.

0:32:28 > 0:32:31It'll be very interesting to see what they think.

0:32:31 > 0:32:36I'm genuinely, genuinely concerned about the room that Leila's done.

0:32:36 > 0:32:37I know the feeling.

0:32:40 > 0:32:42Whoa!

0:32:42 > 0:32:45The bedroom used to be home to poorly painted pale walls

0:32:45 > 0:32:47and uninspired furniture.

0:32:47 > 0:32:52With a budget of £3,500, John the bodger's cream bedroom

0:32:52 > 0:32:54has been transformed into a riot of bright

0:32:54 > 0:32:59and vibrant clashing colours and statement furniture.

0:33:00 > 0:33:02I think this is quite nicely done.

0:33:02 > 0:33:04I think the colour here is good.

0:33:04 > 0:33:08I don't think it needed the wallpaper as well.

0:33:08 > 0:33:10You've got to remember, in a room,

0:33:10 > 0:33:13if your walls are foreground or background.

0:33:13 > 0:33:16And if you're going to put artwork on, which she has,

0:33:16 > 0:33:18it's fighting with the background.

0:33:19 > 0:33:20SHE SIGHS

0:33:20 > 0:33:22How do you sleep in this chaos?

0:33:22 > 0:33:26I feel like I'm in a kind of tacky hotel where, you know,

0:33:26 > 0:33:28these should be flashing.

0:33:30 > 0:33:31He's going to hate it.

0:33:33 > 0:33:35I'm dreading this. I really am.

0:33:39 > 0:33:40- Hello there.- Hello.

0:33:40 > 0:33:43Welcome back to your home. How are you feeling?

0:33:43 > 0:33:45Nervous.

0:33:46 > 0:33:48Nic's living room first, I think.

0:33:49 > 0:33:51Open your eyes.

0:33:51 > 0:33:52Don't want to!

0:33:53 > 0:33:55Oh, my God!

0:33:57 > 0:33:58It's totally different.

0:33:58 > 0:34:00It is.

0:34:00 > 0:34:02And...this is really, really nice.

0:34:02 > 0:34:04- Really?- Really nice.

0:34:04 > 0:34:06Yes, I really do like it. It's very nice.

0:34:06 > 0:34:07What do you think, Rachel?

0:34:07 > 0:34:09I really like it. I really do.

0:34:09 > 0:34:11Totally changed.

0:34:11 > 0:34:14It's absolutely superb.

0:34:14 > 0:34:16- Enough colour for you, Rachel? - It is.

0:34:16 > 0:34:20I wouldn't have chosen this colour, but it looks...looks really nice.

0:34:20 > 0:34:24Space here as well. It's got sliding doors.

0:34:24 > 0:34:28So, considering you only like light colours...

0:34:28 > 0:34:31Yeah, it is kind of light, though, isn't it? It's not exactly...

0:34:31 > 0:34:34- Light? Hmm...- ..tutti-fruttis and a bag of sweets.

0:34:34 > 0:34:38Let's hope that you like the next room as much.

0:34:38 > 0:34:39Miracles do happen.

0:34:45 > 0:34:47What do you think, Rachel?

0:34:49 > 0:34:50You've got your colour.

0:34:50 > 0:34:53Mm-hm. Yeah, I do. I like the wardrobes and...

0:34:53 > 0:34:55No, it's too much.

0:34:55 > 0:34:58For me, it's too busy.

0:34:58 > 0:35:01I wouldn't have done anything like it and I don't like it.

0:35:01 > 0:35:03Supposed to be able to go to sleep in a bedroom,

0:35:03 > 0:35:05and it's like a kids' play area.

0:35:05 > 0:35:06I think it looks horrendous.

0:35:06 > 0:35:09It doesn't look anything like a bedroom.

0:35:09 > 0:35:14So, sorry, but it's a big thumbs-down from me. It's hideous.

0:35:14 > 0:35:16I think it's even too much for Rachel,

0:35:16 > 0:35:17if she was to tell the truth.

0:35:17 > 0:35:19Is it, Rachel?

0:35:19 > 0:35:21I like... I do like the bed and the wardrobes.

0:35:21 > 0:35:24I like the...theme of it.

0:35:24 > 0:35:27- So, overall, you quite like it? - Mm-hm, yeah.

0:35:27 > 0:35:30- It's rank. Don't like it at all. - I like the lights.

0:35:30 > 0:35:31Definitely not.

0:35:31 > 0:35:34I think Rachel likes it, though, John.

0:35:34 > 0:35:36I know you're telling her she doesn't, but I think she does.

0:35:36 > 0:35:39No, I'll leave it to her. Rachel's...

0:35:39 > 0:35:41- But you're answering for her.- Yeah.

0:35:41 > 0:35:44I haven't heard much out of Rachel's mouth, actually. Come on, Rachel.

0:35:44 > 0:35:47I think it'll grow on us. I like... I do like the bed and the wardrobes.

0:35:47 > 0:35:49I did ask for colour.

0:35:49 > 0:35:51If Rachel likes it, yeah, so be it.

0:35:51 > 0:35:55And so if Rachel likes it, can you keep it the same?

0:35:55 > 0:35:56Not for long.

0:35:56 > 0:36:00So you were going to accept what Rachel wanted

0:36:00 > 0:36:02and you said if she's happy, that's fine.

0:36:02 > 0:36:05So what you're actually saying now is it isn't fine?

0:36:05 > 0:36:06- It's rank. Horrible.- I like it.

0:36:06 > 0:36:08I think she's got to be heard.

0:36:08 > 0:36:12No, sorry. It's not for me.

0:36:12 > 0:36:15So what message would you have for the designer?

0:36:15 > 0:36:16Don't touch the other room.

0:36:18 > 0:36:19Right.

0:36:21 > 0:36:25We took a chance when we handed the keys over.

0:36:25 > 0:36:29And she's done colour, what I asked for. Might grow on you.

0:36:29 > 0:36:31Fungus grows. That's horrible.

0:36:33 > 0:36:35'This is feedback Nic and Leila need to hear.'

0:36:35 > 0:36:38- Hello.- Hi.- Hello.

0:36:38 > 0:36:41- How are you feeling?- Erm...OK.

0:36:41 > 0:36:43- Confident.- And Nic?

0:36:43 > 0:36:45Yeah, very curious.

0:36:45 > 0:36:48Do you think that what you did was quite brave?

0:36:48 > 0:36:50- It was quite brave, yes.- OK.

0:36:53 > 0:36:55Good news for you, because they loved it.

0:36:56 > 0:36:58So you've done a good job there.

0:36:58 > 0:37:01- Good, good. Wow!- Well done.

0:37:01 > 0:37:02- So, Leila...- Yes.

0:37:02 > 0:37:05- Now, you obviously listened to Rachel.- Yes.

0:37:05 > 0:37:07She said, "I want colour."

0:37:07 > 0:37:10- John's the one I'm worried about. - Yeah.

0:37:12 > 0:37:15John should be the one you're worried about.

0:37:15 > 0:37:18Now, Rachel, she liked it.

0:37:18 > 0:37:19Right.

0:37:19 > 0:37:23- John, I'm afraid, hated it.- Oh, no!

0:37:23 > 0:37:25I'm afraid he didn't like it.

0:37:28 > 0:37:34Rachel got heard by you, OK?

0:37:34 > 0:37:35He was my challenge.

0:37:35 > 0:37:39You knew what you were doing when you stuck the bright colours up there, didn't you?

0:37:39 > 0:37:42I knew what I was doing and I am... I am sticking by it. I love it.

0:37:43 > 0:37:46- It's just that he hates it. - Yeah. Yeah.

0:37:46 > 0:37:49He'll probably have his roller out later, painting it cream!

0:37:51 > 0:37:56Now you've both got to work together on this room, the kitchen.

0:37:56 > 0:38:00Now, they have a large family, they want to sit round

0:38:00 > 0:38:01and eat at the table.

0:38:01 > 0:38:06- So we have to make this something that works for them.- Yes.

0:38:06 > 0:38:08Although you've both got very different styles, we've got

0:38:08 > 0:38:13to find a way to gel them together so that you work as a team.

0:38:13 > 0:38:15- OK.- And you've got two days.

0:38:15 > 0:38:18- LEILA GASPS - OK.

0:38:18 > 0:38:21This part of the challenge is to see if they can collaborate,

0:38:21 > 0:38:24as professionals often have to work as a team.

0:38:24 > 0:38:26To impress me, they'll have to take on board the feedback

0:38:26 > 0:38:29and hold their nerve,

0:38:29 > 0:38:32and use their £8,000 budget wisely.

0:38:36 > 0:38:38I had a bit of an emotional time last night.

0:38:38 > 0:38:41There's a lot of tension, a lot of stress going on at the moment.

0:38:41 > 0:38:44Emotions are running really high.

0:38:44 > 0:38:48# I see your true colours shining through

0:38:48 > 0:38:50# I see your true colours... #

0:38:50 > 0:38:53My challenge to myself was to get John to like colour,

0:38:53 > 0:38:56and I failed miserably with it.

0:38:56 > 0:38:59# Like a rainbow. #

0:38:59 > 0:39:03Obviously, Leila's got very strong taste.

0:39:03 > 0:39:06She obviously likes to clash things.

0:39:06 > 0:39:09The person to please was probably more John,

0:39:09 > 0:39:12and I think Leila did 99% Rachel and 1% John.

0:39:12 > 0:39:16So I think for the kitchen, we need to compromise.

0:39:16 > 0:39:19But for these two, compromise may not come easy.

0:39:19 > 0:39:22They both have clear but different visions for their joint room.

0:39:22 > 0:39:26I thought for the kitchen... I'm really passionate about this floor.

0:39:26 > 0:39:31- Mm-hm.- Wall lights, I have these amazing rhinos.

0:39:33 > 0:39:37This is a real gem. It's like a... But I think they can all match.

0:39:37 > 0:39:40Yeah, I-I love it, but I have equally as mad wallpaper.

0:39:40 > 0:39:43OK. Well, you know that they don't like that?

0:39:47 > 0:39:50- Here's some tiles that I also have. - What, for the floor?

0:39:50 > 0:39:53For the wall. Kind of like blue-turquoise.

0:39:53 > 0:39:57Cos I've gone with clear glass all the way round.

0:39:57 > 0:40:00We need to compromise on what we're going to do.

0:40:00 > 0:40:02We need to share a vision, this is just reductive.

0:40:02 > 0:40:05- I've had enough of you, actually! - HE CHUCKLES

0:40:05 > 0:40:10All right? I've had absolutely enough of you sighing, huffing and puffing. I'm doing this as well.

0:40:10 > 0:40:11'I have no idea what happened.'

0:40:11 > 0:40:14She's... I think she's overreacted a little bit.

0:40:14 > 0:40:16Ohhh!

0:40:16 > 0:40:19You're just a right control freak!

0:40:19 > 0:40:22I think she's taking it a bit too personal, to be honest.

0:40:22 > 0:40:25She needs to face the fact that she can't just put bright stuff

0:40:25 > 0:40:28in their face, cos they're not going to like it.

0:40:29 > 0:40:30Oh, dear.

0:40:30 > 0:40:33And it's not just Nic and Leila who aren't seeing eye to eye.

0:40:33 > 0:40:35At the chapel, Shirley and Sam

0:40:35 > 0:40:39are at odds over what to use to replace the old chandeliers.

0:40:39 > 0:40:43I've got...two white, two reds.

0:40:43 > 0:40:45Shirley's gone contemporary again.

0:40:45 > 0:40:48And Sam seems have come over all Moroccan.

0:40:48 > 0:40:50O...K!

0:40:50 > 0:40:52- Oh, dear.- Well, I wanted to go big.

0:40:52 > 0:40:55OK, OK, OK, OK...

0:40:55 > 0:40:57OK!

0:40:57 > 0:41:00In Consett, Leila's calling for peace talks.

0:41:02 > 0:41:05At the moment, we're not... Had a bit of a blow out,

0:41:05 > 0:41:07but we've got to get this job done, yeah?

0:41:07 > 0:41:11- Yeah.- Got to work together with this.- Yeah.- OK, that's fine.

0:41:11 > 0:41:16- I do want to work with you.- And I want to work with you, and I want us to make an amazing kitchen.- Yes.

0:41:16 > 0:41:20A look from Shirley is all it takes to get Sam to see things her way.

0:41:20 > 0:41:24I prefer yours. That's really depressing.

0:41:24 > 0:41:29- OK, right. What about this one? I'm using that wallpaper...- Yeah.

0:41:29 > 0:41:31- ..you can have your lights.- Er...

0:41:33 > 0:41:35I brought these along because I thought we might need them.

0:41:35 > 0:41:37It's like a little hug from the universe.

0:41:37 > 0:41:41Whenever you feel a bit "ugggh", just take that out of your pocket, give it a little rub.

0:41:41 > 0:41:44Come here, it's all good. It's all going to be all right.

0:41:44 > 0:41:46That's what that is.

0:41:47 > 0:41:53They're big, painted, burgundy wall cabinets with arches.

0:41:53 > 0:41:55Burgundy?

0:41:55 > 0:41:56Can we repaint?

0:42:02 > 0:42:05Halfway though Brian and Eileen's living room refurb,

0:42:05 > 0:42:08and Shirley's lights are going up.

0:42:08 > 0:42:10It's just right, just the right position.

0:42:10 > 0:42:12Shirley's artwork is being framed.

0:42:12 > 0:42:14- What do you think?- Perfect. - All righty.

0:42:14 > 0:42:17Shirley's cushions are in position.

0:42:17 > 0:42:19Do you own every pillow that's ever been made?

0:42:19 > 0:42:21And wouldn't you know it?

0:42:21 > 0:42:24Shirley's contemporary sofas have got the go-ahead too.

0:42:24 > 0:42:27Sam's seriously in danger of over-compromising.

0:42:27 > 0:42:29No, we've not gone with my sofa.

0:42:29 > 0:42:33I saw Shirley's and it's huge, it's got a great scale.

0:42:33 > 0:42:35So inspiring working with someone like Shirley.

0:42:35 > 0:42:38Surely something of Sam's can squeeze into the design

0:42:38 > 0:42:40of this super-sized sitting room?

0:42:40 > 0:42:42- It's beautiful.- It's what?

0:42:42 > 0:42:47- Look at the petroleum colours in there.- It's what?- It's beautiful.

0:42:49 > 0:42:53- Now...- Do you know, I can't even force myself. No way.

0:42:53 > 0:42:56There's no way I like them, and they certainly don't fit into this

0:42:56 > 0:42:59vision that's going on in here whatsoever.

0:42:59 > 0:43:02- Coin toss? - Sam, heads, Shirley, tails.

0:43:02 > 0:43:03Whatever!

0:43:05 > 0:43:07- Ohhh!- YE-E-ES! Right!

0:43:10 > 0:43:13Even the coin has let you get your own way.

0:43:13 > 0:43:14Ohhhhh!

0:43:14 > 0:43:18I'm not quite sure what you mean by that!

0:43:18 > 0:43:19We are, Shirley.

0:43:20 > 0:43:24In Consett, the clock is ticking before John and Rachel arrive home.

0:43:24 > 0:43:28Nic's hard at work in the garden, and worryingly,

0:43:28 > 0:43:30Leila's injecting some colour into the kitchen.

0:43:30 > 0:43:36Wow, that is amazing. He's going to really like this, John.

0:43:36 > 0:43:38- You think?- Absolutely not!

0:43:39 > 0:43:42I am quite nervous to meet John,

0:43:42 > 0:43:45purely because he absolutely hated my bedroom.

0:43:45 > 0:43:48Celia's warned the guys about not being too colourful in the kitchen,

0:43:48 > 0:43:53yet we've got really crazy colourful wallpaper and pink walls.

0:43:53 > 0:43:56Bit concerned what Celia's going to think about that one.

0:43:56 > 0:43:58At least someone's listened to me.

0:43:58 > 0:44:01But quite frankly I'm the least of their worries.

0:44:01 > 0:44:04John Geoghegan's regretting ever climbing on board this

0:44:04 > 0:44:06makeover merry-go-round.

0:44:06 > 0:44:08Come on, John, cheer up, son.

0:44:08 > 0:44:10No! The house is a mess.

0:44:10 > 0:44:12It's maybe Your Home in Their Hands.

0:44:12 > 0:44:14It'll be my home in my hands as soon as they go.

0:44:14 > 0:44:17Because they haven't listened to a word we asked for.

0:44:17 > 0:44:20The wallpaper that Leila's put on will be the most expensive

0:44:20 > 0:44:23backing paper that anybody's put on any house,

0:44:23 > 0:44:25cos that'll be painted next week.

0:44:25 > 0:44:28It's an absolute mess. It's disgusting.

0:44:28 > 0:44:31Rachel asked for a little bit of colour, but there's less

0:44:31 > 0:44:34colour on this fairground ride than what's in the bedroom at the minute.

0:44:34 > 0:44:36And when you ask for something romantic, you don't

0:44:36 > 0:44:40put yellow wallpaper on a wall with blues and greens and birds

0:44:40 > 0:44:44and stuff like that, then put turquoise furniture in front of it.

0:44:44 > 0:44:47- Right.- And then put lights around your headboard with kiddies'

0:44:47 > 0:44:48figurines on the headboard.

0:44:48 > 0:44:51Two arrows pointing down to it. It's a mess!

0:44:51 > 0:44:55I hope I don't meet the lady, because she'll hate me if I do.

0:44:55 > 0:44:57Maybe the kitchen might be a bit better.

0:44:57 > 0:44:58It can't be any worse, can it?

0:44:58 > 0:45:01I tell you what, kitchens cost a lot of money, and if they get

0:45:01 > 0:45:05that as badly wrong as what they've got the rest of it, God help us.

0:45:05 > 0:45:10It's a mess, and I wouldn't recommend anybody do it.

0:45:10 > 0:45:11Big risk? Yeah, risk too far.

0:45:11 > 0:45:16I'm disgusted in it, and that's the truth. Absolutely disgusted.

0:45:21 > 0:45:24And all the fun of the fair continues back at the house,

0:45:24 > 0:45:28where Nic and Leila are still trapped on their own unmerry-go-round.

0:45:28 > 0:45:30We're just going to have to go...

0:45:30 > 0:45:33Nic, we've got to paint this. It's going to have to go over there.

0:45:33 > 0:45:36You have to start listening and do as you're told for a minute.

0:45:36 > 0:45:39I'd say that Nic and Leila are both very passionate about design.

0:45:39 > 0:45:40- Just stick it over there. - Leila, shut up!

0:45:40 > 0:45:43No, you shut up and stick it over there!

0:45:43 > 0:45:46But they're a little way off being classed as professional designers.

0:45:46 > 0:45:48- This is not for you to worry. - Yes, it is for me to worry!

0:45:48 > 0:45:51It's my bench. You've got all the furniture to be done, don't worry about it.

0:45:51 > 0:45:53- But you're not doing anything! - Don't worry!

0:45:53 > 0:45:56- Any time there's been any stress... - Are you painting, then?

0:45:56 > 0:45:59..you've had Nic walk off in a hissy

0:45:59 > 0:46:03and Leila panic and get all stressy that nothing's happening.

0:46:03 > 0:46:06I am just speechless, absolutely speechless.

0:46:06 > 0:46:09Don't be difficult. Don't try and be difficult!

0:46:09 > 0:46:11- LEILA STUTTERS - Don't be difficult.

0:46:11 > 0:46:14I've got Nic being Nic, I've got Celia about to turn up with

0:46:14 > 0:46:17the home owners, that I'm about to meet for the first time.

0:46:17 > 0:46:18So, stress? Yes!

0:46:18 > 0:46:22And she's not the only one under pressure.

0:46:22 > 0:46:26At the chapel, Shirley and Sam are putting the finishing touches

0:46:26 > 0:46:28to their souped-up sitting room.

0:46:28 > 0:46:31Well, Shirley's souped-up sitting room.

0:46:31 > 0:46:33It's difficult to say how much of me is in this room.

0:46:33 > 0:46:35I'll hazard a guess...

0:46:35 > 0:46:36not very much.

0:46:41 > 0:46:45All the main pieces, the rug, the sofa, coffee tables,

0:46:45 > 0:46:48the artwork, it's just Shirley written all over it.

0:46:48 > 0:46:50It's all her pieces. Sam just sort of went with the flow.

0:46:50 > 0:46:53Honestly, quite a lot of the room is Shirley's.

0:46:53 > 0:46:56Her style is flawless, and I would have been an absolute idiot

0:46:56 > 0:46:58if I wasn't going to use her few more

0:46:58 > 0:47:01years of experience on top of mine to just, like, learn

0:47:01 > 0:47:05and kind of almost study underneath this lady. She's so stylish.

0:47:06 > 0:47:10Even though Sam and I have got very different tastes, I can give

0:47:10 > 0:47:14a little, she can give a little, and we can bring something together.

0:47:14 > 0:47:17I'd say one of them brought more than a little.

0:47:17 > 0:47:20But before I decide who's impressed me the most,

0:47:20 > 0:47:22I want to see this room for myself.

0:47:23 > 0:47:27With a budget of £4,000, the sitting room has been

0:47:27 > 0:47:32transformed from dull, dated and dreary to bright, white and airy.

0:47:32 > 0:47:36The deep pile carpet has made way for wood effect lino.

0:47:36 > 0:47:39The sofas have been replaced with contemporary furniture.

0:47:39 > 0:47:43This chapel's been well and truly converted.

0:47:48 > 0:47:50- Hello.- Hello, Celia.

0:47:57 > 0:47:59Would you say, Shirley,

0:47:59 > 0:48:04that perhaps you've put your stamp on a lot more than Sam?

0:48:04 > 0:48:06Erm, yes.

0:48:07 > 0:48:10She's an endlessly inspiring woman.

0:48:10 > 0:48:12Every time she unpacked a box, I fell in love with something new.

0:48:12 > 0:48:16So I think we've successfully fused an old-fashioned

0:48:16 > 0:48:18and a contemporary style.

0:48:18 > 0:48:23Whose idea was it to put a very light-coloured floor down?

0:48:23 > 0:48:25- Both.- Yeah.

0:48:25 > 0:48:30The sofas. They've very bold, Shirley.

0:48:31 > 0:48:34And a little bit...

0:48:34 > 0:48:36nasty, actually, aren't they?

0:48:36 > 0:48:39I made my choice. I went for visual more than comfort.

0:48:39 > 0:48:44They wanted somewhere relaxing, and a place to entertain.

0:48:45 > 0:48:48Do I think you've created it?

0:48:49 > 0:48:52No, actually, I don't.

0:48:52 > 0:48:53Really?

0:48:54 > 0:48:56Eileen and Brian are about to come back

0:48:56 > 0:49:00- and see what you've done to their home.- OK.

0:49:00 > 0:49:01You excited about that?

0:49:01 > 0:49:03Not any more!

0:49:04 > 0:49:08So, come on, let's get you both out of the way.

0:49:12 > 0:49:15And the couple don't seem that excited either.

0:49:15 > 0:49:18- Nervous for the third room. - Nervous for the third room, yes.

0:49:18 > 0:49:22Let's hope they haven't discarded all our nice antique furniture

0:49:22 > 0:49:24and replaced it with flat-pack.

0:49:24 > 0:49:27That would be dreadful, wouldn't it? That would be dreadful.

0:49:27 > 0:49:29With the girls hiding in the kitchen,

0:49:29 > 0:49:32Brian and Eileen have no idea they're listening in.

0:49:33 > 0:49:35Ooh!

0:49:35 > 0:49:38- SHE GASPS - Oh, my gosh!

0:49:38 > 0:49:40Welcome home.

0:49:40 > 0:49:42Wow. Wow!

0:49:44 > 0:49:46It is light and bright!

0:49:46 > 0:49:48I feel a bit shaky.

0:49:49 > 0:49:51- We'd never have thought it. - Oh, my goodness.

0:49:51 > 0:49:53Not keen on the sofas, I'm really not.

0:49:53 > 0:49:55EILEEN LAUGHS

0:49:55 > 0:49:57- I know what you mean on that one. - Yeah.

0:50:01 > 0:50:04Absolutely love the floor. Love these coffee tables.

0:50:04 > 0:50:06And I like these bright colours.

0:50:06 > 0:50:08So, I mean, it's quite contemporary, isn't it?

0:50:08 > 0:50:11Yes. This really works, this really works for me.

0:50:11 > 0:50:12I absolutely love it.

0:50:14 > 0:50:16So, Brian, Eileen,

0:50:16 > 0:50:20it's time to meet the two designers who had your home in their hands.

0:50:20 > 0:50:21Come on, then, girls.

0:50:22 > 0:50:24BRIAN: Hello.

0:50:24 > 0:50:25SHIRLEY: Hi!

0:50:25 > 0:50:27Hello.

0:50:27 > 0:50:29It's lovely to meet you. Thank you so much.

0:50:29 > 0:50:31BRIAN: Bright and colourful Shirley!

0:50:31 > 0:50:36I'm absolutely delighted that Brian and Eileen loved their home,

0:50:36 > 0:50:37and well done to the designers.

0:50:37 > 0:50:40- LOVED the bedroom. - Oh, thank goodness!

0:50:40 > 0:50:41Fantastic.

0:50:41 > 0:50:44There's a lot more thought has to go into interior design than

0:50:44 > 0:50:46I first thought.

0:50:46 > 0:50:49But I've had a ball doing it, and I think I'm just going to go home

0:50:49 > 0:50:51and completely redecorate my life now.

0:50:51 > 0:50:53I feel really inspired.

0:50:53 > 0:50:55Sam should really think, though,

0:50:55 > 0:50:59if she wants to go forward with this, that she needs to be heard.

0:50:59 > 0:51:02You've got to be strong in design, you've got to go forward,

0:51:02 > 0:51:04show your personality.

0:51:04 > 0:51:06Certainly Shirley does.

0:51:06 > 0:51:12The style that I brought to Brian and Eileen's home is my style,

0:51:12 > 0:51:16but taking into consideration, you know, their home.

0:51:16 > 0:51:20And it's made me reflect on what I do.

0:51:20 > 0:51:22So it's been a good experience.

0:51:22 > 0:51:25- This is not the same house. - It's not the same house!

0:51:25 > 0:51:27Two incredibly talented ladies.

0:51:27 > 0:51:29- Thank you.- Oh, thank you. - Thank you very much.

0:51:29 > 0:51:32I think it's fair to say that Shirley impressed me the most.

0:51:32 > 0:51:35She had the strength to follow through,

0:51:35 > 0:51:36and I could see her style in both rooms.

0:51:36 > 0:51:39- Well, you took a risk, as you know. - Mm.

0:51:39 > 0:51:42You put your home in their hands. What do you think?

0:51:42 > 0:51:44Was it worth...? Was it worth all the nail-biting?

0:51:44 > 0:51:48- It was.- Wow!- I can't think of better hands that it could have been in.

0:51:48 > 0:51:50Honestly, I'm just...

0:51:50 > 0:51:52Well done, girls. Really glad.

0:51:52 > 0:51:56In fact, what's your fee for the rest of the house?

0:51:56 > 0:51:59And that's how you get a professional contract -

0:51:59 > 0:52:01leave a job with happy customers.

0:52:03 > 0:52:06Sadly, I think it'll take a lot for Nic and Leila

0:52:06 > 0:52:09to convert John Geoghegan into one of those.

0:52:09 > 0:52:12But not for lack of trying.

0:52:12 > 0:52:15They've been pulling out all the stops to get the kitchen ready.

0:52:15 > 0:52:19We managed to get 100 things done at once in the last 24 hours.

0:52:19 > 0:52:21We've got an amazing kitchen.

0:52:21 > 0:52:24Before, the kitchen was impractical for a large family,

0:52:24 > 0:52:27and Rachel found it bland and boring.

0:52:27 > 0:52:31Now, despite all the bickering, the kitchen has been transformed.

0:52:32 > 0:52:34With the £8,000 budget,

0:52:34 > 0:52:37Leila and Nic have added space-saving furniture,

0:52:37 > 0:52:42bright wallpaper, colourful tiles and new kitchen units.

0:52:43 > 0:52:45But will the colour inflame John?

0:52:51 > 0:52:53- Hello.- Hello.- Hello, Celia.

0:52:53 > 0:52:55This is a transformation, isn't it?

0:52:55 > 0:52:57It certainly is.

0:52:57 > 0:52:58My goodness!

0:53:02 > 0:53:06I'm just taking it all in. It's quite a shock.

0:53:06 > 0:53:07Yes.

0:53:10 > 0:53:13So, Leila, looks like you had your input on the wall.

0:53:13 > 0:53:15Yes, I have.

0:53:15 > 0:53:17- And the lampshade.- Yes.

0:53:17 > 0:53:19Lots of colour.

0:53:19 > 0:53:21What do you think John's going to say?

0:53:21 > 0:53:25I-I've compromised, but I had to have a little bit...

0:53:25 > 0:53:27I feel really passionate about what I do.

0:53:27 > 0:53:29The tiles?

0:53:29 > 0:53:31- That's Nic.- Ahh!

0:53:31 > 0:53:33Nic, you've used colour.

0:53:33 > 0:53:37- Yeah, yeah, it works. - That's a shock!

0:53:37 > 0:53:41Now, I heard that there was a little bit of tension between you both.

0:53:41 > 0:53:45- Yes, there was quite a bit of tension.- Yeah.

0:53:45 > 0:53:47It's just because we're both very passionate about this

0:53:47 > 0:53:50and we both wanted to please everyone.

0:53:50 > 0:53:51- Was it stressful?- Very.

0:53:51 > 0:53:55Obviously, it's about what John and Rachel want

0:53:55 > 0:53:56and whether they like it or not.

0:53:56 > 0:53:59So, it's crunch time.

0:54:05 > 0:54:07And here comes the crunch.

0:54:07 > 0:54:12I'm excited. Bit nervous, but just wait and see.

0:54:12 > 0:54:14Everybody knows what I wouldn't want to see.

0:54:14 > 0:54:16And if that room's anything like the bedroom...

0:54:18 > 0:54:22I fear for my own sanity, along with anything else.

0:54:22 > 0:54:23'Fearing the worst,

0:54:23 > 0:54:26'Nic and Leila have made a break for the back patio.

0:54:26 > 0:54:27'Lucky them!

0:54:27 > 0:54:31'The family have no idea that they're listening in.'

0:54:31 > 0:54:33Hello.

0:54:36 > 0:54:38Welcome back.

0:54:38 > 0:54:41- Thank you very much. - How are you feeling?

0:54:50 > 0:54:51A lot better now.

0:54:51 > 0:54:53- Relieved?- Yes.
