0:09:15 > 0:09:17Along a great river, there are two villages.
0:09:18 > 0:09:23The first one, way up river, is a farming village full of...
0:09:23 > 0:09:24well, farmers.
0:09:24 > 0:09:27Now, this village isn't a very happy place.
0:09:27 > 0:09:30There's never enough water to feed the crops
0:09:30 > 0:09:32and the people are very hungry.
0:09:32 > 0:09:37Rotten crops, rumbling tums, bad tempers. You get the idea.
0:09:39 > 0:09:40However, some way down river,
0:09:40 > 0:09:43there's a fishing village full of...
0:09:43 > 0:09:45well, fisher-people.
0:09:45 > 0:09:47Now, they depend on the river for all their food,
0:09:47 > 0:09:51and they have lots of lovely fish to eat.
0:09:51 > 0:09:55But one day... Oh no!
0:09:55 > 0:09:58They discover that their lovely fish-filled river
0:09:58 > 0:10:00has dried up completely.
0:10:00 > 0:10:04No water, nothing. No fish at all, not even a goldfish.
0:10:07 > 0:10:10With no fish to eat, people start to go hungry.
0:10:12 > 0:10:16And so, a fearless fisher-girl from the village sets off
0:10:16 > 0:10:19to find out why the river has dried up.
0:10:19 > 0:10:21Packing the last of the fish paste sandwiches,
0:10:21 > 0:10:25she follows the dry river all the way to the farmers' village.
0:10:28 > 0:10:32There, she meets a farmer boy. "Welcome to our village," he says.
0:10:32 > 0:10:33"It's a great place.
0:10:33 > 0:10:37"We have plenty to eat and our crops have lots of water,
0:10:37 > 0:10:39"all thanks to our dam."
0:10:42 > 0:10:45The fisher-girl is horrified.
0:10:45 > 0:10:47"You've stolen our water," she says.
0:10:49 > 0:10:50What do you think?
0:11:10 > 0:11:15I think that the reason why the fisher-girl thinks that
0:11:15 > 0:11:19the farmer's stolen the water is because she's always had the water.
0:11:19 > 0:11:22And the fact that it's gone is really different to her.
0:11:22 > 0:11:26And it makes her think someone's took it. So it's not necessarily stealing.
0:11:26 > 0:11:31It's just taking more of it. It's hers and the farmers'.
0:11:31 > 0:11:32They've taken the water.
0:11:32 > 0:11:36They haven't stolen it because it's a resource,
0:11:36 > 0:11:40while stealing is you're stealing it. It's a property of somebody's.
0:11:40 > 0:11:44I can go and take a rock. I can take natural things.
0:11:52 > 0:11:55Nobody owns the sky or the river
0:11:55 > 0:11:59because they have both been there forever.
0:12:03 > 0:12:06The fisher-girl explains to the farmer boy how the dam has
0:12:06 > 0:12:10stopped the river flowing down to their village.
0:12:10 > 0:12:13She tells him all about her village going hungry
0:12:13 > 0:12:18because they have no more fish. The farmer boy feels bad.
0:12:18 > 0:12:21He hadn't thought about how this would affect his neighbours.
0:12:21 > 0:12:24And then he has an idea.
0:12:24 > 0:12:27"Why don't the fisher-people just come and live with us?"
0:12:27 > 0:12:31The fisher-girl isn't sure this will solve the problem.
0:12:31 > 0:12:32After all,
0:12:32 > 0:12:36the fisher-people have lived in their village for hundreds of years.
0:12:36 > 0:12:39Everything they do is based around fish and fishing.
0:12:39 > 0:12:42If the fisher-people come and live with the farmers,
0:12:42 > 0:12:45they'll have to change their entire way of life.
0:12:45 > 0:12:48Not only that, even if the fisher-people come to
0:12:48 > 0:12:51the farming village, will the farmers welcome them?
0:12:51 > 0:12:54It's an awful lot of new mouths to feed, for a start.
0:12:56 > 0:12:58Well, there are a lot of things to consider here.
0:13:07 > 0:13:10They are selfish because to have...
0:13:10 > 0:13:16just to keep one thing for yourself, it's not right. You should share.
0:13:16 > 0:13:20I mean in the sense of natural, you can share. You can share water.
0:13:21 > 0:13:23Well, no, because the reason why is
0:13:23 > 0:13:27because it wasn't actually for himself, what he did.
0:13:27 > 0:13:32It's because for the crops to grow, and the crops don't actually
0:13:32 > 0:13:36belong to him because everyone's going to eat it anyway.
0:13:36 > 0:13:39So actually, I think he's not being selfish.
0:13:39 > 0:13:41If the fisher-people move,
0:13:41 > 0:13:45they'll have to spend more money on building houses.
0:13:45 > 0:13:51And also, they'll, like... they fish. They don't know how to farm.
0:13:51 > 0:13:55So it might not... It might be kind of harder to get jobs there.
0:13:57 > 0:14:01And I don't think they would actually like it.
0:14:01 > 0:14:08So maybe, the farmer boy should think about it a little bit
0:14:08 > 0:14:11because if it was him, I don't think he would move.
