:08:53. > :08:55.be here. A huge thank you to the brilliant Kaiser Chiefs, weren't

:08:56. > :08:57.they fantastic? Brilliant. What better way to start the celebration

:08:58. > :09:00.they fantastic? Brilliant. What better way to start the here in

:09:01. > :09:04.Scotland, just a few days ahead of what promises to be a fantastic

:09:05. > :09:09.Commonwealth Games just over in Glasgow.

:09:10. > :09:14.Over the next two hours performing live we are joined by some of the

:09:15. > :09:23.biggest names in rock, pop, classical music and comedy, Bill

:09:59. > :10:03.Sidwell. Well, we have been having a bit of

:10:22. > :10:27.I tell you what, it will be, I promise, worth every single drop of

:10:28. > :10:31.rain. OK. We may be outside, but what better venue for tonight's show

:10:32. > :10:35.than the magnificent Edinburgh Castle. It's, believe it or not,

:10:36. > :10:41.right behind us, they tell me. There is a bit of mist! For over 1,000

:10:42. > :10:45.years it's clung to this rock giving shelter to Kings, protection to

:10:46. > :10:51.people, and inspiration to writers. You may notice more than a passing

:10:52. > :10:55.resemblance to the magical school of Hogwarts, for example. To this day,

:10:56. > :11:01.the Castle dominates the skyline and every summer plays host to the world

:11:02. > :11:05.famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. But tonight this stage will

:11:06. > :11:11.play host to talent of a different kind. We saw them open the show and

:11:12. > :11:17.I hope that the front man has got his breath back. Please welcome on

:11:43. > :11:47.so much. Saucy cow! It's BBC1, get off! All right, she's on stage

:11:48. > :11:53.already. She's had ten hit singles, two brilliant albums and a third on

:11:54. > :11:55.the way. She's sexy, sassy, show her some love, it's the unstoppable

:11:56. > :12:16.Jessie J! Come on, let's get warm! On your

:12:17. > :12:41.feet! # Seems

:12:42. > :12:44.like everybody's got a price. # We don't need your money, money,

:12:45. > :13:16.a good time. # We just wanna make

:13:17. > :13:19.the world dance. # And it wasn't low blows and video,

:13:20. > :13:43.video. # Can we all slow down

:13:44. > :13:53.and enjoy right now? # Guarantee we'll be

:13:54. > :13:56.feeling alright. # We don't need your money, money,

:13:57. > :14:11.money. # We just wanna make

:14:12. > :14:54.the world dance. Come on, you sing it to me. # Ain't

:14:55. > :15:01.about it... # Wanna make the... # We don't need your money.

:15:02. > :15:07.# I just wanna make Edinburgh Castle dance

:15:08. > :15:21.# I just wanna make the world dance # Ain't about the ch-ching

:15:22. > :15:24.# Ain't about the bl-bling # I just wantia make the world dance

:15:25. > :16:03.# Forget about the price tag. band, everybody. That was fun. Are

:16:04. > :16:08.you guys a little warmer now? I want to get one of those coats with

:16:09. > :16:16.hoods. This next song is called Keep Us Together. I want you to hug

:16:17. > :16:19.someone you'll of, and stay like that for this next song, please

:16:20. > :16:37.enjoy it. # I started feeling

:16:38. > :16:42.like everything's figured out. # Seems

:16:43. > :16:49.like everybody's got a price. # It ain?t easy trying to stay

:16:50. > :17:32.in love. # When it rains tell me we got

:17:33. > :17:36.enough # Said we got enough

:17:37. > :17:40.of our love to keep us together. # Arguments, back and forth,

:17:41. > :17:45.disagreements. # Can we make it up, make it right,

:17:46. > :17:49.can we fix this? # It ain?t always gonna be perfect,

:17:50. > :17:56.baby. # It?s unpredictable,

:17:57. > :18:07.but I feel so good about it. # Ain't nothing that we can

:18:08. > :18:12.promise. # Said we got enough

:18:13. > :19:06.of our love to keep us together. # When it rains tell me we got

:19:07. > :20:16.enough Thank you so much.

:20:17. > :20:23.Wasn't that fantastic? And I loved her gold shoes. And I think Todorov

:20:24. > :20:27.has done the job because the coats are coming off. We have got some

:20:28. > :20:32.great comedy coming up later, but for now, let's stick with the music

:20:33. > :20:40.and with an army of fans, including Stephen Fry, two best selling

:20:41. > :20:41.albums, please put your hands together for the brilliant Rizzle

:20:42. > :20:58.Kicks! # Do you remember back in school

:20:59. > :21:02.# When the boys and girls that could Yo, you might hear me make a racket

:21:03. > :21:11.like Wilson. Cause I love summer no Rachel

:21:17. > :21:18.Change your boyfriend (let's 'av him).

:21:19. > :21:19.We're rowdy, girls make our judgement cloudy.

:21:20. > :21:21.But when the sun comes through we're still alcys.

:21:22. > :21:23.We don't wanna be lowsy, or shameless.

:21:24. > :21:25.But we're running round like we're brainless.

:21:26. > :21:27.Now I've got grass stains on my brand new white trainers.

:21:28. > :21:30.Ummmm... I know a few guys hate us. They're as compelling as neighbours

:21:31. > :21:31.so laters. It's blaters we've got our own

:21:32. > :21:34.style, you know now. So go wild and get hosed down, n-no

:21:35. > :23:09.no. Pardon me, just don't return that if

:23:10. > :23:13.I wasn't older, you wouldn't want to dance with me. I was top boy in the

:23:14. > :23:22.class, in my year. The headmaster, say yeah. I am looking at a bright

:23:23. > :24:33.blue sky. Standstill, standstill! Good evening, everybody! Might as

:28:07. > :28:21.Tell her I love her Thank you very much, everybody. Have

:28:22. > :28:33.fun! Thanks, guys, that was brilliant. It

:28:34. > :28:37.is brilliant to see everybody getting into the dancing, including

:28:38. > :28:44.our very own brass section and there they are. Now, there is a lot of

:28:45. > :28:48.focus of course on Scotland over the coming weeks. Not only do we have

:28:49. > :28:53.the Commonwealth Games to look forward to, but next month, every

:28:54. > :28:56.theatre, club, function room and phone box will be crammed full of

:28:57. > :29:01.comedians saying to packed audiences, as the city hosts the

:29:02. > :29:06.Edinburgh festival French of course. The line-up reads like a Who's Who

:29:07. > :29:10.of comedy, and our next guest has played there are so many times, it

:29:11. > :29:14.is like his second home. He is not just really funny, he is brilliantly

:29:15. > :29:27.clever, quick and musical as well. In fact, if I were to sum him up in

:29:28. > :29:28.one word, it would be. Beardy Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the

:29:29. > :29:46.wild imagination of Bill Bailey. Hello! What a fantastic setting.

:29:47. > :29:50.Yes, it is true, I have played here many times in the festival. I

:29:51. > :29:55.remember one year, I came up here, I needed a pair of bongos, as you do.

:29:56. > :30:00.And I went to a drum shop and said, can I get a pair of bongos? And the

:30:01. > :30:05.guy said to me coming yes, I will have a look. He came back and said,

:30:06. > :30:11.I have got one pair left. Because right now it is the bongos season. I

:30:12. > :30:22.love the idea of bongos being in season!

:30:23. > :30:32.So I am a big fan of theme tunes, one of my favourites is Match of the

:30:33. > :30:35.Day, what a great theme... Hold on!

:30:36. > :30:40.It's fantastic, it's uplifting and great. A brilliant theme tune. But

:30:41. > :30:44.it's versatile. I like to play in different versions. I am a big fan

:30:45. > :31:40.of the lounge version. The thing is you can play it in

:31:41. > :31:43.different keys, as well. The major key. It's jolly and uplifting. In

:31:44. > :31:50.the minor key you get a different thing entirely. You get a soundtrack

:31:51. > :32:03.to like a pole ircartoon. -- to a Polish cartoon.

:32:04. > :32:10.# The tractor that would not start. # That's if you speed it up. If you

:32:11. > :32:14.slow it right down and change it into the minor key you get something

:32:15. > :32:51.totally different again. You get a Jewish folk song.

:32:52. > :33:00.Thank you, see you later, cheers! Brilliant. I am pleased to say we

:33:01. > :33:07.will be seeing a lot more of Bill later on in the show. Plus we have

:33:08. > :33:13.got performances from Smokey Robinson, Culture Club are back

:33:14. > :33:18.together right here on this stage. One Republic, Ella Henderson and Il

:33:19. > :33:22.Divo. And we will be meeting a local boy turned national hero. I don't

:33:23. > :33:26.want to give too much away but if I say it will be a good night from him

:33:27. > :33:32.that might give you a little clue. First, I am very excited to

:33:33. > :33:36.introduce this next lady. She's got style and sophistication by the

:33:37. > :33:45.bucketload and a voice to die for. Please give a stupendous welcome to

:33:46. > :33:50.the one, the only, Miss Paloma Faith.

:33:51. > :34:10.APPLAUSE AND CHEERING # I'd tell myself you don't mean

:34:11. > :34:18.a thing. # But what we got,

:34:19. > :34:21.got no hold on me. # But when you're not

:34:22. > :34:25.there I just crumble. # I tell myself I

:34:58. > :35:06.if you walked away. # When you come close

:35:07. > :35:13.I just tremble. # It's like a knife that

:35:14. > :35:23.cuts right through my soul. # Only love,

:35:24. > :35:30.only love can hurt like this. # Love is torture

:35:31. > :36:20.makes me more sure. # 'Cause only love can hurt

:36:21. > :37:40.like this. # And it must have been

:37:41. > :37:54.the deadly kiss.# APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:37:55. > :37:58.Thank you so much. Welcome to the great British summer time! For those

:37:59. > :38:02.watching at home, it is basically just a grey cloud. Here's another

:38:03. > :38:20.song. Let's dance. # We're getting close,

:38:21. > :38:26.still goes on. # You changed

:38:27. > :38:50.and I need a little loving. # I can't keep giving all

:38:51. > :38:55.and get back nothing. # Come on, come on, boy,

:38:56. > :39:03.just shake me. # 'Cause I know, I do,

:39:49. > :39:52.and get back nothing. # Come on, come on, boy,

:39:53. > :40:01.just shake me. # 'Cause I know, I do,

:40:02. > :40:08.too bad for you. # Momma said there'll be days

:40:09. > :40:31.like this. # Now the whole knows I

:40:32. > :40:34.got trouble with my baby. # Come on, come on, boy,

:40:35. > :40:39.just shake me. # 'Cause I know, I do,

:40:40. > :41:19.too bad for you. APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:58:13. > :58:16.an amazing night tonight? It is such a pleasure and honour to be here,

:58:17. > :58:22.especially alongside such amazing acts. This next song is a personal

:58:23. > :58:24.song of mine and it is one of my favourite covers to perform, this is

:58:25. > :58:33.Believe. # You're gonna be the lonely one,

:58:34. > :59:08.oh oh # I really don't think

:59:09. > :59:27.you're strong enough, now # I really don't think

:59:46. > :00:29.# I don't need you any more. # I really don't think

:00:30. > :01:35.you're strong enough, now That was such a stunning version of

:01:36. > :01:44.that song, even better than the original, maybe? For more home-grown

:01:45. > :01:52.talent. He is one of Scotland's favourite comedians, please welcome

:01:53. > :01:59.Fred MacAulay. Thank you, folks. This is incredible. What a gig! It's

:02:00. > :02:05.such a massive year for Scotland. As you all know, in Scotland we have

:02:06. > :02:11.that big day in September, when we are all going to get together and

:02:12. > :02:15.watch the Ryder Cup. Cannot wait! It's a great gig. I know the

:02:16. > :02:19.difference between good gigs and bad gigs, I have done tough gigs in my

:02:20. > :02:24.time, ladies and gentlemen. 2003 they asked me to go to Iraq to

:02:25. > :02:30.entertain the troops. That was a tough gig. Naively I assumed it

:02:31. > :02:38.would have been the allied troops. Tough one. Last gig I was at like

:02:39. > :02:43.this it was when Bob Geldof and Bono came to Murrayfield, do you remember

:02:44. > :02:49.that. Bob came out on to the stage with Bono, it was like Gandalf with

:02:50. > :02:55.a Hobbit. They came up to Scotland to make poverty history. Pretty much

:02:56. > :03:00.kicked off the financial crisis. Sadly, they made poverty popular for

:03:01. > :03:05.goodness sake. I was thinking about Bob's lyrics to the Band Aid song

:03:06. > :03:11.because a few years ago one January, 2011, I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.

:03:12. > :03:16.Yeah, thank you very much. That was tough, as well. It's a long, slow

:03:17. > :03:24.plod and on the last day you climb up there and about teatime, you eat

:03:25. > :03:27.loads of pasta and stuff and try and have a kip and get up at night and

:03:28. > :03:33.put on all your clothes and try to climb up to the top of the mountain.

:03:34. > :03:39.It was minus 18C. And a blizzard came in at 4.00am and all I could

:03:40. > :03:48.think of were Bob's lyrics and there won't be snow in Africa this

:03:49. > :03:51.Christmas time. There will. You know the other lyrics to that song, it's

:03:52. > :03:56.Christmas time, no need to be afraid. It's Christmas time, we let

:03:57. > :04:06.in light and we banish shade. Do you think that's a good idea? For my

:04:07. > :04:12.Tanzanian friends, in the middle of summer, 54 Celsius. A temperature

:04:13. > :04:21.that we in Scotland know little of. Even in cookery. I am

:04:22. > :04:30.that we in Scotland know little of. too. Will we go and get some shade?

:04:31. > :04:35.We can't. Bob's banned it. The worst lyric of all are at the end when

:04:36. > :04:40.Bono himself sings, and tonight, thank God it's them, instead of you.

:04:41. > :04:46.Possibly the least Christian sentiment I have ever heard in my

:04:47. > :04:51.life. This is good for Scotland, we have the Commonwealth Games, so much

:04:52. > :04:57.going on. Ladies and gentlemen, since I am here I have to say,

:04:58. > :05:02.sadly, you no - he is no longer Wimbledon champion, but Andy Murray,

:05:03. > :05:13.a Wimbledon champion from Scotland, yeah, good on you, Andy. I saw him

:05:14. > :05:19.when he was - I saw him on TV going... I thought he had won. I

:05:20. > :05:22.heard one of our politicians saying Andy Murray winning Wimbledon,

:05:23. > :05:26.another example of Scotland punching above its weight. It's a shame that

:05:27. > :05:31.we measure our successes in terms of violence and obesity. Now we are

:05:32. > :05:35.going to have to crack on, on with the show. A band who have flown from

:05:36. > :05:43.America to be with us this evening. Five lads, one incredible sound.

:05:44. > :05:45.Give a mighty democratic Edinburgh welcome to the rebellious One

:05:46. > :06:00.Republic! # But, baby, I've been, I've been

:06:01. > :06:02.praying hard # I see this life like a

:06:03. > :06:29.swingin' vine # Everything that kills me makes me

:06:30. > :07:08.feel alive # Lately, I've been, I've been

:07:09. > :07:14.losing sleep # We'll be counting stars

:07:15. > :07:20.praying hard # Lately, I've been, I've been

:07:21. > :07:26.losing sleep # Dreaming about the things that we

:07:27. > :07:30.could be # But, baby, I've been, I've been

:07:31. > :07:34.praying hard # Yeah

:07:35. > :07:47.I feel this love # Young, but I'm not that bold

:07:48. > :08:02.I don't think the world is sold # I'm just doing what we're told

:08:03. > :08:07.I feel something so wrong # At doing the right thing

:08:08. > :08:13.I could lie, could lie, could lie # Everything that drowns me makes me

:08:14. > :08:18.want to fly # Lately, I've been, I've been

:08:19. > :08:22.losing sleep # Dreaming about the things that we

:08:23. > :08:25.could be # But, baby, I've been, I've been

:08:26. > :08:34.praying hard # Lately, I've been, I've been

:08:35. > :08:38.losing sleep # Dreaming about the things that we

:08:39. > :08:41.could be # But, baby, I've been, I've been

:08:42. > :08:45.praying hard # Said, no more counting dollars

:08:46. > :08:50.We'll be, we'll be, counting stars # Take that money

:08:51. > :08:59.Watch it burn # Take that money

:09:00. > :09:06.Watch it burn # Sink in the river

:09:07. > :09:23.The lessons I learned APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:09:24. > :09:31.Thank you. This is the first time we have been here. We have to say it is

:09:32. > :09:37.absolutely everything we imagined and we wouldn't be any happier if it

:09:38. > :09:48.was sunny. We are glad we are in the clouds.

:09:49. > :09:58.This is our new single Love Runs Out.

:13:41. > :13:47.Brilliant boys. One Republic everybody. And look who I found

:13:48. > :13:53.dancing to One Republic back stage, it's Boy George! Hello you. Nice to

:13:54. > :13:57.see you. Now, you did mention back in May that you were reforming. We

:13:58. > :14:02.are all thrilled. How are you feeling tonight back on stage for

:14:03. > :14:06.the first time in 15 years? Now we have a lovely audience, I am quite

:14:07. > :14:10.excited now. Can't wait to get on with it, you know. You are a man

:14:11. > :14:14.down, we have to mention. Yeah, Roy, unfortunately, is having an

:14:15. > :14:18.operation on his knee. So, I tried to get him to come, but he couldn't

:14:19. > :14:24.do it. We can do without him! I think I can speak on behalf of

:14:25. > :14:27.everybody here and at home when I say we really are looking forward to

:14:28. > :14:31.seeing you back on stage later on. Thank you. Absolutely. Boy George

:16:54. > :18:01.# When we've been here ten thousand years

:18:02. > :18:21.# We've no less days to sing God's praise

:18:22. > :19:19.Well, I do not know about you, but I am an emotional wreck. Brilliant,

:19:20. > :19:27.Boyce. Shame one of them turned up late! Not really. Thank you as well

:19:28. > :19:36.to pipe Major Alan Mowbray, from the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards, who are

:19:37. > :19:40.based here at Edinburgh Castle. And our lone piper will be back later on

:19:41. > :19:43.with a few friends. Now,, they say you cannot have too much of a good

:19:44. > :19:49.thing, and we wholeheartedly agree with them. So, we are giving you a

:19:50. > :19:54.second helping of the man with comic genius and lovely fluffy hair.

:19:55. > :20:01.Please welcome back the exceptional Bill Bailey!

:20:02. > :20:05.Hello! Right, I want to try something with all of you, I want to

:20:11. > :20:16.want you to be the drone, but constant note, and then we will try

:20:17. > :20:23.and play a tune over the top. Here is your note, can you harm this for

:20:28. > :21:34.we go. This is the BBC! Do not listen to

:21:35. > :21:43.the others! They are false profits! Only us, we are the true way!

:21:44. > :21:57.APPLAUSE Thank you, see you later. And there

:21:58. > :22:01.will be more of Bill Bailey later on. Now, although we are all having

:22:02. > :22:06.a ball here at Edinburgh Castle this evening, let's take a moment to

:22:07. > :22:12.remember a great man who sadly is no longer with us. Now, yesterday would

:22:13. > :22:17.have marked the 96th birthday of Mr Nelson Mandela, a man who brought

:22:18. > :22:25.peace, justice, equality and reconciliation to his country, and

:22:26. > :22:29.in doing so, inspired the world. To pay tribute to Nelson Mandela and

:22:30. > :22:33.his many heroic achievements, we are joined by a singer who grew up in

:22:34. > :22:39.the townships of South Africa and went on to win a scholarship at the

:22:40. > :22:43.Royal College Of Music in London. She has been hailed as one of

:22:44. > :22:50.opera's most exciting new voices. And tonight, performing Thula Baba

:22:51. > :23:00.and O Mio Babbino Caro, please welcome Pumeza.

:23:04. > :23:20.# Thula thul', thula baba, thula sana.

:23:21. > :27:00.Wasn't that just incredible? And so atmospheric. But you don't care now,

:27:01. > :27:02.do you, because we have got Alfie Boe here. You cannot have a big

:27:03. > :27:05.concert, can you, Boe here. You cannot have a big

:27:06. > :27:12.Boe? I got changed to go home Boe here. You cannot have a big

:27:13. > :27:17.you called me back! I Barcelona was absolutely stunning,

:27:18. > :27:24.it was epic, were you happy with how it went? I was thrilled, I am glad

:27:25. > :27:29.everybody enjoyed it, and I must say , Edinburgh is the best city in the

:27:30. > :27:33.world. We have had a brilliant welcome here. We are here because

:27:34. > :27:38.the Commonwealth Games 1-0 next Wednesday, so what will you be

:27:39. > :27:46.watching? Are you a fan? Oh, my goodness, I will be watching the

:27:47. > :27:51.domino rally... Putting you on the spot. I continue, we do know you are

:27:52. > :27:57.domino rally... Putting you on the a rock fan. Who are you most looking

:28:14. > :28:16.this venue here, Alfie, it must help you with those high notes, it is a

:28:17. > :28:24.magnificent place to seeing, isn't it? It is beautiful, and the people

:28:25. > :28:27.make it even better. I will be doing it at the end of the year as well,

:28:28. > :28:38.it is going to be fun. Alfie Boe, everybody! I think they are nearly

:28:39. > :28:44.ready. A quick reminder that tonight's concept does contain

:28:45. > :28:48.flashing images, so please bear that in mind at home. The battlements of

:28:49. > :28:54.Edinburgh Castle have witnessed history being made. There have been

:28:55. > :29:00.wars, sieges, murders and revolutions. But all of that is

:29:01. > :29:05.nothing compared to what our next guests have been through. Please

:29:06. > :29:16.welcome Culture Club! # Precious kisses

:29:17. > :30:12.words that burn me. # Wrapped in sorrow,

:30:13. > :31:21.words are token. # You've been talking

:31:22. > :31:30.but believe me. # Everything's not what

:31:31. > :33:34.you see it's over again. APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:33:35. > :33:38.Thank you very much. Hope you are going to come and see us when we

:33:39. > :33:47.play in December and I hope you have a lovely evening. Happy birthday to

:33:48. > :34:01.John's son Clyde who's 17 today. We are one big happy family. This is

:34:02. > :34:08.Karma Chameleon. # Desert loving

:34:09. > :34:10.in your eyes all the way. # If I listened to

:34:11. > :34:14.your lies would you say. # Karma karma karma

:34:15. > :34:39.karma karma chameleon. # Loving would be easy

:34:40. > :34:50.if your colors were like my dream. # Didn't hear

:34:51. > :35:02.your wicked words every day. # And you used to be so sweet I

:35:03. > :35:05.heard you say. # Karma karma karma

:35:06. > :35:37.karma karma chameleon. # Loving would be easy

:35:38. > :35:43.if your colors were like my dream. # Karma karma karma

:35:44. > :36:46.karma karma chameleon. # Loving would be easy

:36:47. > :36:52.if your colors were like my dream. # Karma karma karma

:36:53. > :37:21.karma karma chameleon. # Loving would be easy

:37:22. > :37:59.if your colors were like my dream. APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:38:00. > :38:09.Absolutely phenomenal. So brilliant to have you back. Wasn't it good?

:38:10. > :38:14.Now then boys, come here. When we have recovered from that. Now, the

:38:15. > :38:20.reason I have got Il Divo back on stage is because a little bird has

:38:21. > :38:29.told us that it's actually your birthday today. Oh, yes. So,

:38:30. > :38:36.audience, sing along, please, if you will. They've sung to you.

:38:37. > :38:46.# Happy birthday # Happy birthday to you.

:38:47. > :38:54.Happy birthday indeed. # Happy birthday to you.

:38:55. > :38:59.this. Hang on. Thank you so much. I can't believe this. I have a cake

:39:00. > :39:12.for you. Thank you so wish. Three, two, one!

:39:13. > :39:18.Happy birthday to you. Thank you so much. It's not just your birthday,

:39:19. > :39:22.of course you boys are celebrating ten years together this year. Any

:39:23. > :39:27.plans specifically? Well, we are touring. We are about to actually

:39:28. > :39:31.come to Europe. This is how we are going to celebrate it because

:39:32. > :39:38.there's nothing better than celebrating with an audience. You

:39:39. > :39:42.are the best crowd here. And you have played all over the world in

:39:43. > :39:47.venues everywhere. How does Edinburgh Castle compare? We know

:39:48. > :39:50.the audience are fab. As a location, it's pretty special, isn't it? It's

:39:51. > :39:56.amazing. We played here before, when was it? A few years ago. 2006 we did

:39:57. > :40:01.a tour. It's unbelievable this environment. We are going to be soon

:40:02. > :40:07.again back in the UK, it's October, touring over here. We are going to

:40:08. > :40:14.be back very soon. Great. Boys, go and enjoy your cake. Happy birthday

:40:15. > :40:19.again. Il Divo everybody! APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:40:20. > :40:23.Still to come we have Smokey Robinson. We are not finished yet.

:40:24. > :40:31.For the final time this evening it's time to welcome Bill Bailey. Bill,

:40:32. > :40:35.come and have a chat. They're not quite ready. We will put you on this

:40:36. > :40:44.side. There you are. Now, I think you are the favourite

:40:45. > :40:49.of the night so far. Oh. I love you too. What have you got planned for

:40:50. > :40:54.the final instalment? The final instalment I am going to be

:40:55. > :41:02.attempting to play popular songs on an instrument of my own devising.

:41:03. > :41:03.It's a tuned car horns. The thing is with Bill Bailey he can do

:41:04. > :41:08.everything. How many musical instruments can you actually play?

:41:09. > :41:16.342. Have you just plucked that figure? Yes. Mainly keyboards.

:41:17. > :41:21.Piano, horn, percussion, guitar. I will give it my best shot. We can't

:41:22. > :41:36.wait to hear the last instalment. Ladies and gentlemen, Bill Bailey!

:41:37. > :42:43.OK, a medley of popular songs. Take it away, Steve.

:42:44. > :43:01.APPLAUSE AND CHEERING Do you want one more? One more! All

:43:02. > :44:24.right then we will try. All right, the 1812 Overture.

:44:25. > :44:43.Fantastic. Now, that was the last appearance by Bill Bailey this

:44:44. > :44:47.evening, and a big thank you to him for being such an integral part of

:44:48. > :44:53.this concert. It was a spectacular finish, but we are having some

:44:54. > :44:57.complaints from the neighbours, so, if you are one of the families who

:44:58. > :45:08.have lost your garden wall, we are very, very sorry. Once again, ladies

:45:09. > :45:14.and gentlemen, Bill Bailey! So, the question is now, how do we top

:45:15. > :45:18.that? And the answer is, with our very special next guest. Ladies and

:45:19. > :45:22.gentlemen, we are in the presence of a living legend. He has been a

:45:23. > :45:30.musical superstar for more than 50 years. He has released 100 singles

:45:31. > :45:36.and recorded more than 4000 songs. The standout voice of Motown, a

:45:37. > :45:40.one-man hit machine whose sound is burnt into our memories. It gives me

:45:41. > :45:43.enormous pleasure to introduce the eternal genius of Mr Smokey

:45:44. > :46:28.Robinson. # It's only there trying to fool

:46:29. > :46:33.the public # But when it comes down to fooling

:46:34. > :46:35.you # Now, honey, that's quite a

:46:36. > :46:37.different subject # Really I'm sad, oh, sadder than

:46:38. > :46:41.sad # Now, there's some sad things known

:46:42. > :46:48.to man # But ain't too much sadder than

:46:49. > :46:51.the tears of a clown # Now, if I appear to

:46:52. > :47:08.be carefree # I try

:47:09. > :47:17.to cover this hurt with # A show

:47:18. > :47:20.of gladness # That I've been happy since you

:47:21. > :47:30.decided to go # Oh, I need you so, I'm hurt and I

:47:31. > :47:38.want you to know # Now, there's some sad things known

:47:39. > :47:46.to man # Now, if there's a smile upon my

:47:47. > :48:28.face # Really I'm sad, I'm hurting so

:48:29. > :49:53.bad. # Excuse me, is this supposed to be

:49:54. > :50:00.The Tracks Of My Tears?! Here comes Jessie J, and I love her so much!

:50:01. > :50:05.# Don't be confused, the way is clear.

:50:06. > :50:15.# And if you want it, you got it forever.

:50:16. > :50:34.# You're gonna fly away, glad you're going my way.

:50:35. > :50:40.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:50:41. > :50:53.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:50:54. > :51:13.# Everything's right, do what you must.

:51:14. > :51:19.# And inch by inch we get closer and closer.

:51:20. > :51:26.# To every little part of each other, oh baby yes.

:51:27. > :51:43.# You're gonna fly away, glad you're going my way.

:51:44. > :51:48.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:51:49. > :52:03.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:52:04. > :53:09.# And if you want it, you got it forever.

:53:10. > :53:20.# You're gonna fly away, glad you're going my way.

:53:21. > :53:26.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:53:27. > :53:40.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:53:41. > :53:50.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:53:51. > :54:17.# I love it when we're cruisin' together.

:54:18. > :54:45.# People say I'm the life of the party.

:54:46. > :54:58.# Although I might be laughing loud and hearty.

:54:59. > :55:17.# You'll see my smile looks out of place.

:55:18. > :55:22.# If you look closer, it's easy to trace.

:55:23. > :55:44.# Since you left me if you see me with another girl.

:55:45. > :55:56.# Although she may be cute, she's just a substitute.

:55:57. > :56:16.# You'll see my smile looks out of place.

:56:17. > :56:22.# Yeah, look a little bit closer and it's easy to trace.

:56:23. > :57:06.# Just a clown ooh yeah since you put me down.

:57:07. > :57:26.# You'll see my smile looks out of place.

:57:27. > :57:32.# Yeah just look closer, it's easy to trace.

:57:33. > :57:40.# The tracks of my tears baby, baby baby baby.

:57:41. > :57:52.# Yeah you'll see my smile looks out of place.

:57:53. > :57:58.# Look little bit closer, it's easy to trace.

:57:59. > :58:35.How good was that?! I think I will finally stop crying maybe at some

:58:36. > :58:43.point this evening. I just glanced over and saw how brilliant the

:58:44. > :58:46.castle looks as well. It is a perfect setting. Now, it has been a

:58:47. > :58:52.summer of sport here in Britain, hasn't it? First of all we had a

:58:53. > :58:55.tennis at Wimbledon. We have had the World Cup as well in Brazil

:58:56. > :58:56.tennis at Wimbledon. We have had the all enjoyed. But this summer, the

:58:57. > :59:00.spotlight is all enjoyed. But this summer, the

:59:01. > :59:05.Scotland. Now, Edinburgh, tonight, and from Wednesday, Alaska will play

:59:06. > :59:09.host to the 20th Commonwealth Games. The whole country is getting

:59:10. > :59:14.behind it, the excitement is mounting, and records will be made

:59:15. > :59:19.and broken. Preparations have been under way for five years. For the

:59:20. > :59:24.past ten months, Queen's Baton Relay has been crossing continents, making

:59:25. > :59:28.its way towards the very centre of the universe, right here in

:59:29. > :59:34.Scotland. Second only to Wales! In that time it has covered 70 nations

:59:35. > :59:40.and 120,000 miles, and the journey continues here tonight. Bringing the

:59:41. > :59:47.baton into the castle, we have two of Scotland's finest sports

:59:48. > :59:52.personalities, swimmer Greg or take and L col, accompanied by the Royal

:59:53. > :00:53.Scots Dragoon Guards. Thank you so much. And to take the

:00:54. > :01:00.baton on to Glasgow, please welcome back to the stage, Fred Mac Aulay.

:01:01. > :01:06.Thank you very much. Ronnie, would you do us the honour of passing the

:02:22. > :02:26.OK. Ronnie just stepped on my dress. We have had a little bit of a rip.

:02:27. > :02:30.Never mind. It's no exaggeration to say we have had a truly wonderful

:02:31. > :02:37.evening. I would like to say a very big thank you to all the performers

:02:38. > :02:42.here, not least, of course, our beloved Ronnie Corbett. Thank you so

:02:43. > :02:46.much. Also to all the people working back stage, to everyone in our

:02:47. > :02:53.audience tonight. You have been the best audience. And especially to all

:02:54. > :02:57.of you watching at home. Two years ago the country came together as

:02:58. > :03:02.never before to clap, cheer and compete in the 2012 Olympics. But

:03:03. > :03:09.now we are getting a second bite at the cherry as Glasgow hosts the 2014

:03:10. > :03:15.Commonwealth Games. They start this Wednesday. You can catch all the

:03:16. > :03:19.action right across the BBC. If the competitors get just a 10th of the

:03:20. > :03:24.welcome we have had tonight in Edinburgh, it's going to be a truly

:03:25. > :03:34.fantastic Games. To bring the evening to a rousing, pyrotechnics

:03:35. > :03:42.finish we have a man who knows how to write a crowd-pleaser. Please

:03:43. > :03:47.raise the Castle roof for the fantastic MrJohn Miles with his epic

:03:48. > :03:53.song Music. They're nearly ready. Here we go. Ronnie, we will fill.

:03:54. > :03:57.Right. A round of applause to everybody in the show this evening.

:03:58. > :04:00.They've been fantastic. What was your highlight, Ronnie? The whole

:04:01. > :04:09.evening has been fantastic. Hasn't it? It's been opera, hip hop. And

:04:10. > :04:13.your amazing performance, darling, holding it together. Thank you,

:04:14. > :04:19.Ronnie. I think they're ready. Again, please give a big welcome to

:04:20. > :04:25.MrJohn Miles with his epic song Music and it's good night from the

:04:26. > :04:49.both of us. Ronnie, say good night. Good night.

:04:50. > :04:54.# And it will be my last # Music of the future.

:04:55. > :05:10.# To live without my music would be impossible to do.

:05:11. > :06:50.# Cos in this world of troubles, my music pulls me through.

:06:51. > :06:58.# And it will be my last # Music of the future.

:06:59. > :09:58.# To live without my music would be impossible to do.

:09:59. > :10:16.# Cos in this world of troubles, my music pulls me through.
