:16:39. > :16:47.# By 11, smoking herb and drinking burning liquor

:16:48. > :16:50.# Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure

:16:51. > :16:56.# My daddy told me, go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely

:20:14. > :20:18.Such a big year, what has been the highlight of the past 12 months? To

:20:19. > :20:24.play music for a living all around the world is quite a big award for

:20:25. > :20:31.us. I became a father which was the highlight. We got nominated to the

:20:32. > :20:35.BBC awards, three Grammys. Compared to becoming a father, it's just

:20:36. > :20:38.awards, you know? The greatest award is I'm going to drive home to my

:20:39. > :20:46.little baby girl now. That's wonderful. Thank you for being with

:20:47. > :20:57.us. Lukas Graham, everybody. Thanks for having us.

:20:58. > :20:59.OK, time now to head backstage, where Gemma Cairney

:21:06. > :21:07.Thank you, Fearne and Claudia, yes, welcome backstage.

:21:08. > :21:09.This is where the beautiful people hang out.

:21:10. > :21:17.Carry on walking and who do I bump into? You'll never believe it. Lulu

:21:23. > :21:28.you? I'm OK except time standing next to Ricky. He's crazy. That is

:21:29. > :21:36.not a bad thing. Now you've upset me a little bit. What is the atmosphere

:21:37. > :21:42.right? What have you seen so far back here? What haven't we seen?

:21:43. > :21:49.Ooh. Not going to tell everybody, Ayew? Filthy. There's a Jacuzzi full

:21:50. > :21:53.of jellybeans. No, it's pretty good actually, everybody is looking after

:21:54. > :21:59.themselves but I think it'll go pretty mental later. Absolutely,

:22:00. > :22:03.jellybeans and all. Lulu, you've had an incredible year, right? I've had

:22:04. > :22:13.an incredible life. Yes you have, Babe. Still here, that's what you

:22:14. > :22:19.are amazed at. I am in awe. What do you need to keep going? It's the

:22:20. > :22:24.music, if the musicians can kill it and I can still smash it, and people

:22:25. > :22:31.come in, it's the sweetest love affair. Killing it, smashing it, and

:22:32. > :22:36.coming in. And that's what it feels like tonight, the energy, the love

:22:37. > :22:40.affair? So nice, I saw my old mate Robbie which was brilliant and I

:22:41. > :22:45.just met Emily Sandy for the first time. It's all going on. And Ricky

:22:46. > :22:49.will be on later with some surprises later.

:22:50. > :22:52.As well as the Kaiser Chiefs, we've got John Legend,

:22:53. > :22:56.Craig David, Zara Larsson and Robbie Williams still to come,

:22:57. > :23:00.Right now, though, something a little bit special.

:23:01. > :23:04.In fact, scrap that - right now something very special!

:28:20. > :28:24.Rebecca, who are you looking forward to seeing? I think Emeli Sande was

:28:25. > :28:29.amazing but I'm looking forward to seeing John Legend. That's going to

:28:30. > :28:32.be very special. So glad to have you both here. Over to you guys, Adam,

:28:33. > :28:42.let's do this. Here, with some support from a few

:28:43. > :28:44.celebrity fans, are the nominees for the BBC

:28:45. > :28:51.Music British Artist of the Year. Big year for Adele,

:28:52. > :28:56.I'm a fan of Adele as an artist, You know, she's a star

:28:57. > :29:01.in the truest term. To be there to witness one

:29:02. > :29:07.of her many crowning moments Adele is your post-break-up

:29:08. > :29:20.mix you go to. "I'm in the pits

:29:21. > :29:24.here, I need Adele." She's the hand that pulls

:29:25. > :29:26.you back from the brink. Adele is like the Queen

:29:27. > :29:30.of everything. This is by far the best

:29:31. > :29:33.moment of my life so far. I've got so much respect for him,

:29:34. > :29:41.producer, DJ and can do the vocals, and that's why I put

:29:42. > :29:44.Calvin Harris in his own lane. I love Calvin Harris,

:29:45. > :29:47.I think he's really talented, I saw him at Coachella in front

:29:48. > :29:51.of a record-breaking crowd, and he knows how to

:29:52. > :29:55.put on a good show. What You Came For with Rhianna

:29:56. > :30:05.was just one of those tunes that as soon as you heard it,

:30:06. > :30:07.you were moving. The man just keeps delivering

:30:08. > :30:13.hit after hit after hit. At the beginning of my career,

:30:14. > :30:20.I went on tour with them around Europe, and I was just so inspired

:30:21. > :30:23.by their dedication to the fans. I became a massive fan of Coldplay

:30:24. > :30:27.when they played the closing ceremony at the

:30:28. > :30:30.London 2012 Paralympic Games. Head full of dreams this year,

:30:31. > :30:37.you put the album on, and everyone is bouncing along

:30:38. > :30:40.to one of the songs. When Coldplay put on a show, it's

:30:41. > :30:45.like watching a moving art piece. Colours are flying everywhere,

:30:46. > :30:53.people are screaming. They really are just warm

:30:54. > :30:55.individuals who just appreciate people

:30:56. > :30:57.coming out to watch them sing. He was one of those artists that

:30:58. > :31:06.really strived to push the borders. and I think that's when

:31:07. > :31:11.you become a legend. I love Bowie because he is

:31:12. > :31:13.a completely eclectic, Somehow that man managed

:31:14. > :31:19.to capture the moment that he was living,

:31:20. > :31:21.and his dying too. That last album is just genius,

:31:22. > :31:28.you know, to be facing what he was and still sort

:31:29. > :31:30.of brought that out, I think it's just

:31:31. > :31:36.complete inspiration. Jess Glynne, I think,

:31:37. > :31:43.has got an amazing voice, And I think with Jess Glynne

:31:44. > :31:49.you know who it is straightaway. The power she has in her voice,

:31:50. > :31:53.with that kind of big soul vocal. Now she's doing arena

:31:54. > :31:58.tours, amazing. Jess Glynne's lyrics

:31:59. > :32:01.and her songs are very inspiring. Before my gold medal

:32:02. > :32:05.winning race in Rio, which is a memory that

:32:06. > :32:08.I'll never forget. OK, well, we've heard

:32:09. > :32:23.from the famous fans. The BBC Music British

:32:24. > :32:48.Artist of the Year is... Hold on a minute! Coldplay! Hello,

:32:49. > :32:53.BBC Music Awards, we are Coldplay, we have just got told about winning

:32:54. > :32:57.this beautiful Artist of the Year award, sorry we are not there, we

:32:58. > :33:02.are about to go onstage in Australia. Look at those people! We

:33:03. > :33:04.love you, we are so grateful, and we will see you soon. Thank you so

:33:05. > :33:40.much, bye. # This particular

:33:41. > :33:46.timing is extra special # When I should but I can't let

:33:47. > :34:01.you go # There's a feeling of ever,

:34:02. > :34:44.everglow # Life is shortest

:34:45. > :35:05.in fall, in the snow # And you give me this

:35:06. > :36:00.feeling, this everglow # What I wouldn't give

:36:01. > :36:09.for this moment to hold # Because I live for this

:36:10. > :36:24.feeling, this everglow # So if you love someone,

:36:25. > :36:33.you should let them know # Oh, the light that

:36:34. > :36:55.you left me will everglow. # CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:36:56. > :36:55.Thank you so much! What a special performance that was.

:36:56. > :37:00.to our very worthy winners of best British Artist, Coldplay.

:37:01. > :37:02.Now, from the other side of the planet

:37:03. > :37:17.So here we are in the green room, thank you, ladies, it is going

:37:18. > :37:24.lovely at there, and I am enjoying my company right now. Hi, everyone!

:37:25. > :37:31.How are you doing, darling? Just in case you don't know, I'm with Robbie

:37:32. > :37:36.Williams! Hi, audience, mum! As someone just come over and build

:37:37. > :37:40.your pockets with chocolate? Is this on your right? Monday night is

:37:41. > :37:47.chocolate night, I eat like a ninja all through the week, and Monday

:37:48. > :37:52.night I go for it. Which is your favourite? Galaxy, but there are

:37:53. > :38:01.other confections! Of course! We have just been chatting about the

:38:02. > :38:05.vibe back here. It is, it is like a celebrity village, and back in the

:38:06. > :38:09.olden days for the Brits, everybody used to get drunk, then people use

:38:10. > :38:14.to fight each other, it was a really interesting, entertaining evening.

:38:15. > :38:20.And then the Brits now is just like a dressing room, nobody, there is no

:38:21. > :38:26.vibe backstage. This is excellent, although nobody is wanting to fight

:38:27. > :38:29.me. Let's not do the fights. I have heard there are jellybeans, we can

:38:30. > :38:38.throw them. What can we expect later? Fireworks, I am doing a song

:38:39. > :38:41.called Sensational, which is off my new album, The Heavy Entertainment

:38:42. > :38:45.Show, which is available in all stores! It is a big finale. I am

:38:46. > :38:50.really ready to get my dancing boots on and go wild at the end. It is

:38:51. > :38:57.going to be fabulous. It has been excellent to get so close to you,

:38:58. > :39:02.your chocolate and your chest out. Bye, everyone! Back to you, ladies!

:39:03. > :39:06.That is little hair thing was like a special treat, I cannot wait for

:39:07. > :39:08.that performance. OK, the great music keeps coming

:39:09. > :39:10.now, and we've got one of America's

:39:11. > :39:13.hottest properties for you. From Springfield, Ohio,

:39:14. > :39:15.to ExCeL London - his mum knows him

:39:16. > :39:17.as John Roger Stephens, but you'll know him better as the

:39:18. > :39:24.phenomenally talented - John Legend. # Love your curves

:39:25. > :39:34.and all your edges # Pulling me further,

:39:35. > :40:26.further than I've been before # Making me stronger,

:40:27. > :40:33.shaking me right to the core # Oh, I don't know

:40:34. > :40:39.what's in the stars # Never heard it from above,

:40:40. > :40:42.the world isn't ours # If you ain't mine,

:40:43. > :40:50.I'll be torn apart # I don't know who's gonna kiss you

:40:51. > :40:54.when I'm gone # So I'm gonna love you now,

:40:55. > :40:58.like it's all I have # I know it'll kill me

:40:59. > :41:01.when it's over # I don't wanna think about it,

:41:02. > :41:12.I want you to love me now # Something inside us

:41:13. > :41:28.knows there's nothing guaranteed # Yeah, girl, I don't need you to

:41:29. > :41:36.tell me that you'll never leave, no # To turn darkness into light,

:41:37. > :41:43.turn evil to good # Even when we try so hard

:41:44. > :41:49.for that perfect kind of love # And who's gonna kiss you

:41:50. > :41:55.when I'm gone? # Oh, I'm gonna love you now,

:41:56. > :42:00.like it's all I have # And I know it'll kill me

:42:01. > :42:03.when it's over # I don't wanna think about it,

:42:04. > :42:07.I want you to love me now # Oh, I don't know how the years

:42:08. > :42:31.will go down, it's all right # Let's make the most of

:42:32. > :42:38.every moment tonight # I don't know who's gonna kiss you

:42:39. > :42:41.when I'm gone # So I'm gonna love you now,

:42:42. > :42:45.like it's all I have # I know it'll kill me

:42:46. > :42:49.when it's over # I don't wanna think about it,

:42:50. > :42:53.I want you to love me now # I don't know who's gonna kiss you

:42:54. > :42:57.when I'm gone # Oh, love you now,

:42:58. > :43:29.oh, oh, oh, oh # What a voice, what a jagged! John

:43:30. > :43:32.Legend, utterly brilliant. Wonderful.

:43:33. > :43:35.Now here at the BBC, as well as bringing you

:43:36. > :43:37.big performances from established superstars like that,

:43:38. > :43:38.we also promote the superstars of the future

:43:39. > :43:46.It's a platform supporting the very best in undiscovered

:43:47. > :43:53.and unsigned music and has helped the likes of Jake Bugg,

:43:54. > :43:57.the 1975 and Florence and the Machine, amongst many others.

:43:58. > :44:07.Our two previewed winners of this award are Jack Garratt and Catfish

:44:08. > :44:10.and the Bottlemen. This year goes to one of the most stunning voices in

:44:11. > :44:22.music, the beautiful Izzy Bizu. Her voice is unique. She's also got

:44:23. > :44:31.an amazing stage presence. She's quite a pure voice,

:44:32. > :44:34.so I love the jazz influences, I love the soul

:44:35. > :44:42.and the simplicity of it. I'd describe my music

:44:43. > :44:45.as quite soulful and quite funky. The album is quite positive

:44:46. > :44:47.and uplifting. So White Tiger's very,

:44:48. > :44:51.like, upbeat, whoo-hoo! And then Mad Behaviour's more,

:44:52. > :44:54.like, really, like, chilled, and about things that I probably

:44:55. > :45:00.wouldn't talk about to anybody. and I didn't know Emeli Sande

:45:01. > :45:05.was there. Izzy Bizu came on stage and just

:45:06. > :45:08.like shut the whole place down. She was using her voice in quite

:45:09. > :45:10.an unconventional way, and I think she's an exciting

:45:11. > :45:17.new talent for the UK. I think it was the first awards

:45:18. > :45:23.show we'd ever played. The rise of the band has been

:45:24. > :45:27.massively helped by it. The platform that BBC Introducing

:45:28. > :45:35.offers young artists It's amazing to see it go to someone

:45:36. > :45:42.making the kind of music that she's making without doing it in a way

:45:43. > :45:46.that anybody would expect. I'm really thankful

:45:47. > :45:54.for BBC Introducing. To back you at the start when nobody

:45:55. > :45:57.knows you is really lovely, # Give me love

:45:58. > :46:08.Give me love... # This year's winner of the BBC

:46:09. > :46:15.Music Introducing Award. She's a superstar in the making,

:46:16. > :46:18.and to prove it here she is right now with the

:46:19. > :46:24.incredibly catchy White Tiger. # White

:46:25. > :46:28.Oh, white tiger # If I am still caught up on

:46:29. > :46:35.these safety bars # And all adrenaline

:46:36. > :47:03.rushes to my head # Wanna back out

:47:04. > :47:09.but not alone right now # If I am still

:47:10. > :47:25.caught up on these safety bars # Drunken waves take control,

:47:26. > :47:44.oh, oh, oh # If I am still caught up on

:47:45. > :48:26.these safety bars # You know you're my

:48:27. > :48:35.ooh, la da da da da uh # You know you're my

:48:36. > :49:04.ooh, la da da da da uh # You know you're my

:49:05. > :49:09.ooh, la da da da da uh # If I am still caught up on

:49:10. > :49:23.these safety bars # If I am still caught up on

:49:24. > :50:03.these safety bars I love that song. Here is your

:50:04. > :50:12.exceedingly heavy award. Thank you so much. Where might you put this

:50:13. > :50:19.award? In my new house. I live with this girl. Ayew OK with that? This

:50:20. > :50:27.is a brilliant end to the year but what is next? Japanese tour, and the

:50:28. > :50:32.European tour with these guys which we are so excited about. How much

:50:33. > :50:37.has BBC introducing helped you out? So much from the get go, right from

:50:38. > :50:42.the EP, so thank you so much. And all my family and friends. Thank

:50:43. > :50:45.you, and we are so happy for you to win this award. Please show your

:50:46. > :51:01.love and support for Izzy Bizu. Behind-the-scenes there are hundreds

:51:02. > :51:10.of people, riggers, stage managers, international press. Q Ricky Wilson

:51:11. > :51:13.but undercover. I don't know if people will suss me out but say

:51:14. > :51:17.goodbye to the guy from Kaiser Chiefs, he's not here. I'm going to

:51:18. > :51:26.get that mask on. A lot of people know me here. I can't wait to get it

:51:27. > :51:29.on. Hey, welcome to the BBC music awards 2016. I'll be taking you on a

:51:30. > :51:37.journey through pot, rock, rock 'n' roll. It's going to be great.

:51:38. > :51:42.I'm here with Lukas Graham. Hey guys, can you think of anyone on the

:51:43. > :51:47.build you'd like to collaborate with? Walk around backstage looking

:51:48. > :51:53.at the names, you think, that guy, this girl, yeah. Kaiser Chiefs? That

:51:54. > :52:00.could be a fun collaboration. I love the Kaiser Chiefs.

:52:01. > :52:15.On this stage there will be many pop stars laying many pot eggs of Peel

:52:16. > :52:18.pot yoke. How you doing? Good to see you, man. If you could collaborate

:52:19. > :52:24.with anyone on the list of players who would it be? Craig David, we

:52:25. > :52:28.have spoken about that before. We'll see if we find any time to do it.

:52:29. > :52:32.Sounds like a perfect match made in heaven. This is the world famous

:52:33. > :52:44.piano of the John Legend. My God, that was Robbie Williams,

:52:45. > :52:50.there, rocking the world. So cool. The main man, the main dude, King of

:52:51. > :52:57.the night, Robbie Williams. You are famous for a lot of collaborations.

:52:58. > :53:15.Who would you collaborate with? Kaiser Chiefs? May be Emeli. Kaiser

:53:16. > :53:25.Chiefs? Who? Take this for a spin. Good luck, girls. Thank you. Give it

:53:26. > :53:35.a spin yet? I haven't, mate, not yet. It's right up your street. Izzy

:53:36. > :53:44.Bizu, you are one of the great line-up of artists whose name

:53:45. > :53:53.presents a question. Izzy Bizu? Jessie Ware? . I am joined by the

:53:54. > :53:59.man, the myth, the legend, John Legend, the legend. I'm told you

:54:00. > :54:15.have an interesting vocal warm up. I always do the same warm up. MAKES

:54:16. > :54:22.BIRD SOUNDS. Kind of like this. Practice giving out an award. Prize

:54:23. > :54:26.for the best guy from a band and coach on a reality vocal show goes

:54:27. > :54:36.to... Ricky from the Kaiser Chiefs. I knew it! I didn't know it was you

:54:37. > :54:42.but I knew something was going on. The Kaiser Chiefs? They are a great

:54:43. > :54:55.band, yeah. See you later. I'm going to miss him. He got us good. I smell

:54:56. > :55:05.a rat. But he got us good at first. A modern-day master of disguise. Now

:55:06. > :55:07.please welcome the greatest thing to come out of lead since the

:55:08. > :55:15.Industrial Revolution, the Kaiser Chiefs.

:55:16. > :55:32.# All together now, strike up the band

:55:33. > :55:59.# Take it all from the top, the top, the top, the top

:58:24. > :58:57.The Kaiser Chiefs. Ricky. You've spent the last two days to rest up

:58:58. > :59:01.tricking us, how fun was that? It was quite unusual. You know when you

:59:02. > :59:04.wake up with your socks on in the middle of the night, you take them

:59:05. > :59:11.off and you think, that's amazing, that's what it felt like. Use my

:59:12. > :59:14.microphone, it's much nicer. Hello. Thanks for performing, that was very

:59:15. > :59:22.lovely, I enjoyed it. Who was your favourite victim? Probably you. The

:59:23. > :59:28.bits when I kept calling you Fern Britton. Thank you for that. I love

:59:29. > :59:33.Fern Britton, though. Thank you for being part of this. I'll be your

:04:20. > :04:26.Hello, thank you very much, thank you so much. We didn't write it, so

:04:27. > :04:35.we can't take too much credit, but thank you to radio one. Being really

:04:36. > :04:38.sincere, I want to thank Radio 1 for everything, basically, they have

:04:39. > :04:43.been intrinsic in our success and the Live Lounge and stuff like that.

:04:57. > :05:03.and quite simply one of the greatest musical comebacks - ever!

:05:04. > :05:09.Yes, our next performer first burst on to the music scene 16 years ago,

:05:10. > :05:11.when he sang on the smash hit Re-Rewind.

:05:12. > :05:13.But jump forward a decade, and he's smashing it once again,

:05:19. > :05:26.Please welcome the lovely Craig David!

:05:27. > :06:53.The Rhodes I've been doing this since I was 16, it's like living the

:06:54. > :06:57.dream # Crashing every record, I'm giving

:06:58. > :07:06.it clean # Sometimes you gotta take a chance

:07:07. > :07:21.to break through # That's what gives you everything

:07:22. > :07:25.or breaks you # Ain't giving up on you,

:07:26. > :07:50.ain't giving up on you # Just remember

:07:51. > :08:18.it's me and you for life # Ain't giving up on you,

:08:19. > :09:51.ain't giving up on you Thank you so much! Craig David,

:09:52. > :09:59.thank you! Love that. So good to hear Rewind in there. Sometimes you

:10:00. > :10:05.have got to go back to go forward. And you loved that too, right? Thank

:10:06. > :10:11.you so much for the love. What has been the most surprising moment this

:10:12. > :10:16.year? Do you know what? When we announced the new album, telling me

:10:17. > :10:23.it got to number one, 18 date tour, are you joking me?! 16 years was the

:10:24. > :10:27.first time, it is just amazing, I am so grateful for everyone that has

:10:28. > :10:32.been supporting, amazing. Does it feel different this time around? It

:10:33. > :10:37.is so much sweeter, I am just focusing on the things that made me

:10:38. > :10:39.get into music in the first place, writing songs, performing, giving

:10:40. > :10:45.everything I possibly can on stage. And it is this that makes it all

:10:46. > :10:50.possible, so thank you so, so much. Trust me. Are you allowed to stop at

:10:51. > :10:56.Christmas and have a proper break? It is important to go home and spend

:10:57. > :11:01.time with my mum and dad, we can recapture by what is going on. It is

:11:02. > :11:05.your friends and family, the journey you are on, rather than rushing to

:11:06. > :11:10.the next thing, so I am very grateful. Are you cooking Christmas

:11:11. > :11:14.dinner? My mum! Craig David, everyone!

:11:15. > :11:18.and performances from Zara Larsson and Robbie Williams,

:11:19. > :11:24.Gemma Cairney's backstage with some more star guests.

:11:25. > :11:32.Thank you very much, ladies. Oh, my goodness, Craig David, I was

:11:33. > :11:38.absolutely loving that, I don't know about you guys. I have been boogying

:11:39. > :11:42.with Rebecca Ferguson, Adam Lambert and Matty from the 1975, looking

:11:43. > :11:48.exquisite, did you have to shine your shoes hard tonight? I do not

:11:49. > :11:54.know if I signed my shoes hard! There is like a chip in this one.

:11:55. > :11:58.Look, right there. We need to discuss this, not only did you win

:11:59. > :12:05.an award for the Live Lounge Performance of the Year, but the

:12:06. > :12:12.best shoes of the evening, Matty. They are nice, aren't they? I think

:12:13. > :12:16.they are made of dog. I hope not! Matty, are you feeling good? How

:12:17. > :12:22.does this feel in your hands? Exceptionally heavy and far too

:12:23. > :12:26.lavish, I love it. Where are you going to keep it? Everything goes in

:12:27. > :12:33.the bathroom. I say bathroom - toilet! Everything, just a few more

:12:34. > :12:38.awards! It is getting a bit muggy, we might need to get your shoe shine
