0:36:55 > 0:36:57CHEERING

0:37:14 > 0:37:19# There was a lad in Glesga toon, Ramensky was his name

0:37:19 > 0:37:23# Johnny didnae know it then but he was set for fame

0:37:23 > 0:37:28# He did a wee bit job or two, he blew them open wide

0:37:28 > 0:37:30# But they caught him and they tried him

0:37:30 > 0:37:33# And they bunged him right inside

0:37:33 > 0:37:35# Alley-oo alley-ay

0:37:35 > 0:37:38# Alley-oo alley-oh

0:37:38 > 0:37:43# Open up your prison gates and let Ramensky go

0:37:46 > 0:37:50# And when they let him oot he said he'd try his best, but then

0:37:50 > 0:37:54# He yielded tae temptation and they bunged him in again

0:37:54 > 0:37:59# Noo Johnny hit the headlines, entertained the boys below

0:37:59 > 0:38:03# When he climbed up tae the prison roof and gave a one-man show

0:38:03 > 0:38:06# Alley-oo alley-ay

0:38:06 > 0:38:08# Alley-oo alley-oh

0:38:08 > 0:38:13# Open up your prison gates and let Ramensky go

0:38:16 > 0:38:20# But when the war was raging, the brass-hats had a plan

0:38:20 > 0:38:25# Tae purloin some information, but they couldnae find a man

0:38:25 > 0:38:29# So they nobbled John in prison, asked if he'd take a chance

0:38:29 > 0:38:32# Then they dropped him in a parachute

0:38:32 > 0:38:34# Beyond the coast of France

0:38:34 > 0:38:36# Alley-oo alley-ay

0:38:36 > 0:38:39# Alley-oo alley-oh

0:38:39 > 0:38:43# Open up your prison gates and let Ramensky go

0:38:46 > 0:38:51# And when the war was over, they shook him by the hand

0:38:51 > 0:38:55# For stealing secret documents fae the German High Command

0:38:55 > 0:39:00# So Johnny was rewarded for the job he did sae well

0:39:00 > 0:39:05# They granted him a pardon fae the prison and the cell

0:39:05 > 0:39:07# Alley-oo alley-ay

0:39:07 > 0:39:10# Alley-oo alley-oh

0:39:10 > 0:39:15# Open up your prison gates and let Ramensky go

0:39:17 > 0:39:22# But Johnny was in error when he tried his hand once more

0:39:22 > 0:39:26# For they caught him at a blastin', and it wasnae worth the score

0:39:26 > 0:39:31# The jury pled for mercy, but the judge's voice was heard

0:39:31 > 0:39:35# "Ten years without remission, and that's my final word"

0:39:35 > 0:39:40# "Ten years, my lord, that's far too long", wee Johnny cried in vain

0:39:40 > 0:39:44# "For if you send me up for ten I'll ne'er come oot again

0:39:44 > 0:39:48# "Oh, give me another chance, my lord, I'm tellin' you no lie

0:39:48 > 0:39:53# If you send me up for ten I'll sicken and I'll die

0:39:53 > 0:39:55# Alley-oo alley-ay

0:39:55 > 0:39:58# Alley-oo alley-oh

0:39:58 > 0:40:03# Open up your prison gates and let Ramensky go

0:40:05 > 0:40:07# Now Peterhead's a fortress

0:40:07 > 0:40:10# Its walls are thick and stout

0:40:10 > 0:40:12# But it couldnae hold wee Johnny

0:40:12 > 0:40:14# When he felt like walking out

0:40:14 > 0:40:16# Five times he took a powder

0:40:16 > 0:40:18# He left them in a fix

0:40:18 > 0:40:21# And every day they sweat and pray

0:40:21 > 0:40:23# In case he makes it six

0:40:23 > 0:40:25# Alley-oo, alley-ay
