0:01:25 > 0:01:28whose father had emigrated to America from Germany
0:01:28 > 0:01:30as a 16-year-old boy,
0:01:30 > 0:01:33and together Mary Anne and Frederick raised five children.
0:01:35 > 0:01:40Mary Anne's middle son would return to Scotland years later,
0:01:40 > 0:01:42the home of his MacLeod ancestors,
0:01:42 > 0:01:47whose clan motto is, "I burn but I am not consumed."
0:01:47 > 0:01:53And here, in the name of progress and profit, and executive golf,
0:01:53 > 0:01:57he would pit himself against time and tide.
0:01:57 > 0:02:00And in his wake, the shifting dunes of Balmedie in Aberdeenshire
