0:04:43 > 0:04:48- Another is Margaret Jones, who's 93.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51- She's been - a long-standing member too.

0:04:51 > 0:04:56- The church hasn't always been - at its current location.

0:04:56 > 0:05:01- No, the Welsh-language church used - to be situated on Tyndall Street.

0:05:01 > 0:05:03- It later became English speaking...

0:05:04 > 0:05:08- ..and for a time - there was no Welsh-language church.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10- Then, in 1800...

0:05:10 > 0:05:14- ..they decided to erect - a small church in Howard Gardens.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16- It was a small chapel...

0:05:16 > 0:05:20- ..and that's where the church, in - its current form, was established.

0:05:21 > 0:05:25- But then, of course, - came the Second World War...

0:05:26 > 0:05:31- ..and the church was destroyed - by bombing raids in 1941.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35- We then had to - move into the schoolhouse...

0:05:35 > 0:05:39- ..and we were there until - we moved to our present location.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42- We've worshipped here for 60 years.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46- Your father - was once the church's vicar.

0:05:46 > 0:05:51- Yes, my father came and they - struggled to keep the church open.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54- I remember my father saying...

0:05:55 > 0:05:58- ..that he'd been offered - Llanfairfechan...

0:05:58 > 0:06:00- ..and St Peter's, Carmarthen.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03- But he didn't - want to leave Cardiff...

0:06:04 > 0:06:08- ..until a new Welsh-language - church had been established.

0:06:09 > 0:06:13- He thought so much of the Welsh - language and wanted to retain it.

0:06:13 > 0:06:18- Talking of past vicars, many - have gone on to become archbishops.

0:06:18 > 0:06:23- Yes, one of them being George Noakes - and Saunders Davies, of course.

0:06:25 > 0:06:29- There were - good priests amongst them too...

0:06:29 > 0:06:32- ..who've kept the cause going - at Dewi Sant.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36- How did it feel - being the daughter of the vicar?

0:06:42 > 0:06:45- During that time, - my life revolved around Dewi Sant.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49- There were plenty of young members, - there was a choir.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53- We performed plays - and did various activities.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56- We went to church - in the morning and evening...

0:06:56 > 0:06:58- ..and then we'd go for coffee.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02- We used to meet at the Savoy, - as it was called back then.

0:07:02 > 0:07:06- Chapel members would also - congregate there. Good times!

0:07:06 > 0:07:09- How does the church fare nowadays?

0:07:10 > 0:07:13- It's a good church, - it's a good community.

0:07:13 > 0:07:15- We're like a family.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19- People have said to me, - "Dewi Sant is like a family."

0:07:19 > 0:07:23- That means a lot. It's - a good place to go every Sunday.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26- The church arranges many activities.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29- We've been fortunate - to have new vicars...

0:07:30 > 0:07:34- ..who've retained and - strengthened the church's community.

0:10:38 > 0:10:43- Berwyn by Caradog Roberts is one - of our nation's favourite tunes.

0:10:43 > 0:10:47- It has been arranged - on an unusual metre...

0:14:24 > 0:14:28- And then I moved - to Llangefni on Anglesey.

0:14:28 > 0:14:33- My school days were very happy there - and that's where we met each other.

0:14:39 > 0:14:45- I've also been worshipping at Eglwys - Dewi Sant, Cardiff, for 45 years.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50- No, I was a Methodist - and I moved here...

0:14:51 > 0:14:54- ..and met a girl - who worshipped at Dewi Sant.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00- ..and our vicar at the time - was George Noakes...

0:15:00 > 0:15:03- ..who later became Archbishop.

0:15:03 > 0:15:07- It was lovely listening to him. - I was accepted into the Church.

0:15:07 > 0:15:11- My family has been coming here - since the church relocated.

0:15:11 > 0:15:15- The church - seems to offer a great social life.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18- Yes, the church - is a hive of activity.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21- We're always trying - to introduce new things.

0:15:21 > 0:15:25- We've recently been - on two trips to Germany.

0:15:25 > 0:15:29- We've also started having - familial services here...

0:15:29 > 0:15:32- ..akin to those - that were held at school.

0:15:32 > 0:15:34- They're incredibly popular...

0:15:34 > 0:15:39- ..because the message is simple - and everyone understands it.

0:15:39 > 0:15:43- The fact it's - a Welsh-language church is unique.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46- Yes, - it's completely unique in Wales.

0:15:46 > 0:15:48- Every service is in Welsh.

0:15:48 > 0:15:53- Sometimes we unite with another - city centre church, St John's...

0:15:53 > 0:15:59- ..and when they can't hold services, - they join us at our church.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03- We have a few words in English - but the majority is in Welsh.

0:16:03 > 0:16:07- Some of our members - sit next to members of St John's...

0:16:07 > 0:16:10- ..and simultaneously translate - the service.

0:16:11 > 0:16:13- As a Methodist from Anglesey...

0:16:13 > 0:16:16- ..you've been happy - to settle in Cardiff as an Anglican.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19- Yes, incredibly happy...

0:16:19 > 0:16:24- ..because I believe the community - within the Church is very welcoming.

0:16:24 > 0:16:28- It's not at all highbrow.

0:16:28 > 0:16:33- It's very inclusive and - treats everyone on the same level.
