0:04:39 > 0:04:42- I was confident enough - - I knew what I was doing.

0:04:48 > 0:04:52- It spun and hit the kerb - on the other side.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59- In the field on the other side - was a steep cliff.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19- I broke the bone around - and under my left eye.

0:05:22 > 0:05:27- I damaged important organs - like my lungs, liver and spleen.
0:05:27 > 0:05:33- But what caused most concern - were the head injuries.
0:05:37 > 0:05:39- I had a diffusal injury.
0:05:40 > 0:05:44- That means the connections - in the brain become damaged.
0:05:44 > 0:05:48- It affects the whole brain - - not just one part.
0:05:48 > 0:05:52- It's very serious.
0:05:52 > 0:05:56- A lot of people don't wake from it.
0:05:56 > 0:05:58- If they do, - they're never the same again.

0:06:05 > 0:06:11- They found out that over two-thirds - of my small intestine had died.

0:07:15 > 0:07:19- That was something incredible - they never thought would happen.

0:15:29 > 0:15:33- We also take in - the Holy Communion to the patients.
0:15:34 > 0:15:39- Sometimes, patients ask to celebrate - the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50- But to return - to the Sacrament of Extreme Unction.

0:15:55 > 0:15:59- Some expect, - after receiving the sacrament...

0:16:04 > 0:16:08- ..that some sort of miracle - will happen.
0:16:08 > 0:16:13- It's very hard sometimes for people - to accept that won't happen.
0:16:14 > 0:16:20- But, of course, - we pray for spiritual miracles.
0:16:25 > 0:16:31- Sometimes, patients get the feeling - that they're ready to face the end.
0:16:32 > 0:16:34- In our case as Christians...
0:16:34 > 0:16:38- ..that they're ready to face God.
0:16:39 > 0:16:42- Some ask a number of questions.
0:16:42 > 0:16:46- Why has God let this happen to us?
0:16:47 > 0:16:51- Unfortunately, - we don't have answers.
0:16:51 > 0:16:54- Jesus died for us.
0:16:54 > 0:16:56- Jesus suffered too.
0:16:57 > 0:17:01- And, of course, - we as Christians believe...
0:17:02 > 0:17:04- ..that Jesus is the son of God.
0:17:05 > 0:17:09- That means that God has suffered.
0:17:13 > 0:17:16- Our work as chaplains...
0:17:16 > 0:17:19- ..is to be there...
0:17:19 > 0:17:23- ..to listen, to pray and to comfort.
0:17:24 > 0:17:28- But, most of all, to be a presence.
0:17:28 > 0:17:30- The presence of God in our world.
0:17:31 > 0:17:36- Of course, - that's true for all Christians.
