:30:29. > :30:32.It was the first time on such a big stage, me and Ell, it was

:33:37. > :33:45.think we might be getting Jedward on the phone. They have performed

:33:45. > :33:49.close to the waterline and they ended their spectacular performance

:33:49. > :33:54.by jumping under a fountain. We were hoping to get a shot of them.

:33:54. > :33:59.I can see them over by their table. Can you see the glinting silver of

:33:59. > :34:06.Jedward? They are over there. Can you see them? They were going to

:34:33. > :34:39.Jedward? Hello. Anyway... Yo-yo, Jedward! Well done. We are here.

:34:39. > :34:49.Did you enjoy it? You were brilliant. We are really wet right

:35:08. > :35:16.UK, it is all about one special guy and his name is the Hump. Look out,

:35:16. > :35:26.old Humpy is back! His latest composition... Always a pleasure to

:35:26. > :35:30.have him on my show. Engelbert Humperdinck! It was after he

:35:30. > :35:36.changed his name he got his big break and he kept The Beatles off

:35:39. > :35:49.He followed this with a string of hits.

:35:49. > :35:54.# Was it too beautiful to last? # He established himself as the King

:35:54. > :36:03.of Romance. Thank you. The Golden Globe winner confirmed his cool

:36:03. > :36:08.credentials recording this for the Beavis and Butthead movie. He is

:36:08. > :36:12.the only performer to have stars on three walks of fame. What can I get

:36:12. > :36:17.you? A proud Leicester lad, he has not forgotten his roots and loves a

:36:17. > :36:25.game of darts and a pint in his own pub. That's a treble. That's what

:36:25. > :36:31.I'm going to get! I want to have a pint there! Thank

:36:31. > :36:37.the Lord and all that is holy, I have some back-up with Scott Mills.

:36:37. > :36:44.It's been exciting. Good luck. have done a lot of stairs. Yeah.

:36:45. > :36:49.is quite a way. Yeah. A bit of cardio! You are going to do - hi!

:36:49. > :36:56.I'm going to leave you. You have to plug your ear in to this. If you

:36:56. > :37:03.want to have a quick look at this? I have to unplug myself and Scott

:37:03. > :37:10.is going to plug his in. Do you want that? See you up stairs.

:37:10. > :37:16.Thanks. Hello. Are you Dr Eurovision? I am. Nice to meet you.

:37:17. > :37:25.You have an actual doctorate in Eurovision? I do. Anything I can

:37:25. > :37:30.ask you, you will know? I think so. Hopefully. Also we have Nikki, last

:37:30. > :37:37.year's winner. Hi. You are the reason it is happening tonight.

:37:37. > :37:40.know. It is so crazy. Julia, who is a reporter for SBS Australia. You

:37:40. > :37:44.were next door to us as we were commentating. What do you think

:37:44. > :37:48.about the show? It is an incredible show. Thank you for bringing it

:37:48. > :37:51.here. It is about time. Look, aren't we all confused by a lot of

:37:51. > :37:56.the stuff that's happened out there on that stage? Who is going to

:37:56. > :38:03.vote? What will they vote for? Who knows. I'm very excited. What was

:38:03. > :38:11.your stand-out moment tonight? favourite one? I think it's Jedward.

:38:11. > :38:16.Also I liked Soluna Samay from Denmark. Lots of them. I like the

:38:17. > :38:22.Russian grannies. San Marino? What a concept doing a song about

:38:22. > :38:27.social networking. Confused by the pole dancing. Look, good on them.

:38:27. > :38:30.Dr Paul, Dr Eurovision, what are your views on tonight? A good show?

:38:30. > :38:35.This year the standard is really high. There could be a few shocks.

:38:35. > :38:39.For me, the stand-out moment was the Russian grannies. The place

:38:39. > :38:45.erupted. Here is a thing - are they going to win? If they do, isn't

:38:45. > :38:49.that a bit of a shame? They might not get through this semifinal

:38:49. > :38:53.tonight? I think they will get through it. They will win the

:38:53. > :38:59.public vote. It depends on the juries. The song is not amazing. It

:38:59. > :39:04.is a nice back-story. It will be quite cute if they won. Julia, you

:39:04. > :39:10.were telling me you heard them sing a different song, right? Which? How

:39:10. > :39:15.do you mean? The grannies? I got in there and they don't have great

:39:15. > :39:19.English. I got their names. I wanted them to be eight women. Then

:39:19. > :39:24.I knew they had done a cover of Yesterday. They started singing it

:39:24. > :39:28.in English. They started singing it and it was magnificent. I kind of

:39:28. > :39:32.wished they were doing something more traditional and not having

:39:32. > :39:39.Party For Everybody. It is a young person's song. They moved me to

:39:39. > :39:46.tears. They were magic. Anyone you think didn't do so well tonight?

:39:46. > :39:52.Pardon? Who didn't do very well? I can't say. All of them are so

:39:52. > :39:57.different. I think each of them are so special. I can't say someone was

:39:57. > :40:02.really bad. All I can say is who was really good. Obviously, you had

:40:02. > :40:07.the secret ingredient - sorry it is so loud - you had the secret

:40:07. > :40:15.ingredient last year. Azerbaijan won the contest. What is the magic?

:40:15. > :40:19.What is it? What is it? Why? What is the magic ingredient? I think it

:40:19. > :40:24.is our love story. They believed in our story. That is why we won. That

:40:24. > :40:29.is what I think. That is what Ell think. He is over there. At the

:40:29. > :40:39.moment, there is a lot of drumming going on behind us. I hope you can

:40:39. > :40:44.still hear me. Keep your comments coming in. We are on Twitter, or on

:40:44. > :40:51.Facebook. You can also print off your score cards for Thursday. We

:40:51. > :41:00.will be doing this again. The final is on Saturday, obviously, on BBC

:41:00. > :41:04.One. How do you think Baku has taken to this tonight? There were

:41:04. > :41:10.some worries about it? They have thrown themselves into this. They

:41:10. > :41:15.built this arena for Eurovision in less than a year. It was chaotic

:41:15. > :41:24.last week. Overall, they have done well. It is a slick show. Now last

:41:24. > :41:27.week, Sara went to catch up with some of the other big, big

:41:27. > :41:37.contestants, people they are expecting to do well on Saturday

:41:37. > :41:38.

:41:38. > :41:43.night. She met one of them. Here I am with the representative for

:41:43. > :41:46.Sweden. You have been one of the big favourites from day one?

:41:46. > :41:50.little pressure. To me, it is not about winning, it is about

:41:50. > :41:54.presenting something and uniting people. That is what we do with

:41:55. > :41:59.music. Have you seen the Russian grandmas? I have met them. They are

:41:59. > :42:08.cool. They don't really care about all this circus. They like to sing

:42:08. > :42:13.and that is what they do. The rest is just like OK. That was Sara.

:42:13. > :42:17.Look who it is, Italy's entry. Hello. Hello. Good evening. Can you

:42:17. > :42:23.hear me? I can. Even though there are lots of drums. This is the

:42:23. > :42:28.loudest thing ever! It is also a million degrees in here! I am not

:42:28. > :42:32.sweating as much as you! I have had to run up five staircases! We are

:42:32. > :42:36.getting a lot of messages on Facebook and Twitter. You are one

:42:36. > :42:41.of the favourites to win. At the moment, you are favourite. That

:42:41. > :42:45.must feel like a lot of pressure? Really? Yes, as of today. I try not

:42:45. > :42:49.to think about the competition. I know it's a competition. When I'm

:42:49. > :42:56.up there, I just have fun. I have so many people in front of me. When

:42:56. > :43:00.I sing, I'm happy. Whatever will be will be. Now, obviously, last year,

:43:00. > :43:06.after a long time, Italy haven't been in the competition for ten

:43:06. > :43:16.years, they kind of lost interest! Yes. Last year, they came second.

:43:16. > :43:16.

:43:16. > :43:23.That must ramp up the pressure for you? No, I was really happy, plus I

:43:23. > :43:29.loved the piano player. I was there! Come on! No, it is great. It

:43:29. > :43:34.was a super, super, you know, a good ending. Second. Any favourites

:43:34. > :43:39.tonight? Actually, I heard the girl from Albania. She has such a great

:43:39. > :43:47.voice. That scared me? Me, too. I don't know what she was wearing

:43:47. > :43:53.sort of a weird thing. She had her hair on her dress! I know. That was

:43:53. > :43:59.spooky. Her voice is very - it goes so high. That was difficult. Then

:43:59. > :44:04.music is not only about technical, it is about soft and hard. How long

:44:04. > :44:11.have you been in Baku? Three days. How are you finding it? Surprising.

:44:11. > :44:21.I didn't expect all this. Very modern, but then also, you know,

:44:21. > :44:22.

:44:22. > :44:28.very rich, very poor, so very different and not really equal. The

:44:28. > :44:33.richest - help me out. If I can hear what you were saying I would

:44:33. > :44:37.help you! She is talking and I'm going yeah, yeah. It is an amazing

:44:37. > :44:45.land. Still, you know, they are getting there. They are making a

:44:45. > :44:50.lot of things. Now, the other day on the red carpet, Sara interviewed

:44:50. > :44:58.you. You said something about how before you go on stage you have to

:44:58. > :45:05.smack someone's bottom. Did you make that up? I always do that.

:45:05. > :45:09.Who's? My musicians, they go on stage before me. They introduce me.

:45:09. > :45:15.They walk and I do this - I slap them. How does that help? I don't

:45:15. > :45:23.know. It is just, you know, a lucky charm. If you want, can I do it

:45:23. > :45:28.with you? Yeah, go for it! See, you might win now! Fingers... I know a

:45:28. > :45:33.lot of people are watching at home in the UK having Eurovision parties.

:45:33. > :45:38.Hello. A lot of gay bars have us on tonight. Do you have a message for

:45:38. > :45:44.the gays that might be watching? Yes, I love them so much. Also in

:45:44. > :45:50.Italy, they call me like a gay, they say I'm a gay icon. I can

:45:50. > :45:57.imagine. Thank you. Obviously, you are going to be on the stage in a

:45:57. > :46:03.matter of days. What will you be thinking and what will be your pre-

:46:03. > :46:12.routine ritual? How do you - do you have anything on your rider? What

:46:12. > :46:22.do you demand? It's probably like oh... Exactly. You don't ask for

:46:22. > :46:26.anything in particular? I just drink a Chinese tea and I go!

:46:26. > :46:31.Listen, it is fabulous talking to you tonight. Thank you. Thank you

:46:31. > :46:37.for being part of the first semifinal on BBC Three in boiling-

:46:37. > :46:43.hot Baku! What are your plans for tomorrow? I'm starting to sweat.

:46:43. > :46:48.Tomorrow, I will go to ancient Baku. OK. That was the loudest interval

:46:48. > :46:52.act in the history of Eurovision. know. We were talking but I got you.

:46:52. > :46:56.We got it. The best of luck for Saturday. Thank you very much for

:46:56. > :47:06.joining us. Thank you. Hopefully, we should be able to say goodbye to

:47:06. > :47:09.

:47:09. > :47:19.Sara now. SARA COX: Hello, Scott. Well done

:47:19. > :47:30.

:47:30. > :47:36.Scott. Ten of them will be back on stage competing for the title.

:47:36. > :47:46.course, the six countrys that are already qualified. Azerbaijan, as

:47:46. > :47:48.

:47:48. > :47:55.the host country, and the big five - Italy, Spain, France, Germany and

:47:55. > :48:05.the United Kingdom. Here is their country entries. We have ten going

:48:05. > :48:13.

:51:00. > :51:01.Those six

:51:01. > :51:06.Those six countries

:51:06. > :51:10.Those six countries are qualified for the Grand Final. Let's get

:51:10. > :51:14.serious. Before we start opening the envelopes with the names of the

:51:15. > :51:24.ten finalists, I would like to introduce the Executive supervisor

:51:25. > :51:26.

:51:26. > :51:31.of the Eurovision Song Contest, Jon Ola Sand. Is everything OK? Yes, I

:51:31. > :51:40.am here to oversee the votes and make sure that they are according

:51:40. > :51:44.to the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest. I can now see we have a

:51:44. > :51:54.valid voting result and ten countries will proceed to the final

:51:54. > :51:59.

:51:59. > :52:03.on Saturday. I leave it now up to you to reveal them. Thank you.

:52:03. > :52:08.Europe has voted. The calculations have been made. The ten countries

:52:08. > :52:16.with the most points move on to the Grand Final. They will be shown in

:52:16. > :52:20.a random order. Here we go then. Ten acts to go through to
