:04:13. > :04:32.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:04:33. > :04:54.A good way to star. Saying buy to a small Swedish child there. Never see

:04:55. > :05:14.him again. Bye child. What you are watching here

:05:15. > :05:18.represents, and I quote, seeds from all over Europe, watch out hay fever

:05:19. > :05:24.sufferers, starting to rise and travel to the host country. Marking

:05:25. > :05:29.the beginning of the 61st Eurovision Song Contest. Seeds being spread

:05:30. > :05:34.everywhere. Lovely! This venue is the Globe Arena, the world's largest

:05:35. > :05:40.spherical building and for all fans of arenas, it's where the contest

:05:41. > :05:47.took place back in 2000. # Take me to your heaven... Stop me here,

:05:48. > :05:51.Scott. Of course, Sweden, they're the giants of Eurovision. They've

:05:52. > :05:56.won six times. They're just one win away from matching Ireland who hold

:05:57. > :06:02.the title for the most wins with seven. Strong facts. Good work, Mel.

:06:03. > :06:07.Did you know the venue we are in today is normally an ice skating

:06:08. > :06:10.rink. Is it really? Yeah and since Eurovision moved in a couple of

:06:11. > :06:15.weeks ago the venue has sunk 35 milimetres. I am worried about it.

:06:16. > :06:22.The Swedes are relaxed. I didn't know that! I am worried about that.

:06:23. > :06:26.Never mind. A lot of seed there spreading its way through. The

:06:27. > :06:30.Swedes love Eurovision, they're good at it. Over half the country watched

:06:31. > :06:37.the process to find the singer every year. It's a big deal here. A lot of

:06:38. > :07:03.the songs are written by Swedish songwriters this evening.

:07:04. > :07:14.Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the hosts of Eurovision...

:07:15. > :07:17.This is normally the bit where I give you the lowdown

:07:18. > :07:20.on the presenters, but I think you're all very familiar

:07:21. > :07:22.The last time Petra hosted Eurovision was back

:07:23. > :07:38.She was brilliant. Irremember her outfits. She's toned it down tonight

:07:39. > :07:44.for the first one. Let's have a look.

:07:45. > :07:49.Welcome to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

:07:50. > :08:02.but finally we're back in Sweden again!

:08:03. > :08:06.Welcome to our capital Stockholm, and let's begin

:08:07. > :08:09.with saying; Thank you Vienna, for a beautiful show last year!

:08:10. > :08:12."Vielen Dank, Wien fur eine wunderbare show und fur mich

:08:13. > :08:21.This is, of course, Mans Zelmerlow, who WON the entire contest last

:08:22. > :08:43.I might not be a Eurovision-winning international sex symbol,

:08:44. > :08:46.but at least I'm still, you know, Petra Mede!

:08:47. > :08:50.Petra is, of course, hosting this contest

:08:51. > :08:54.Tell us what have you been doing these last three years?

:08:55. > :09:06.I've been sitting on my sofa, alone, hoping and praying for Sweden

:09:07. > :09:10.And what an honor to meet you once again.

:09:11. > :09:16.here from all over the world, and all of you watching at home.

:09:17. > :09:21.It's a privilege for us to be part of a show that salutes

:09:22. > :09:23.all the things that keep us together, rather than focus

:09:24. > :09:27.Tonight is all about music, friendship and love

:09:28. > :09:36.And that's why it gives us so much pleasure to finally get

:09:37. > :10:04.In the opening number you saw Mans perform his winning song

:10:05. > :10:09."Heroes" - together with 44 children from a dance school here in Sweden.

:10:10. > :10:13.And all those 44 kids have one thing in common.

:10:14. > :10:21.Yes, but apart from that, they all dream of one day competing

:10:22. > :10:25.in the Eurovision Song Contest - tonight that dream will come

:10:26. > :10:28.true for 18 performers from all corners of the world.

:10:29. > :10:32.Tonight is the first of two semifinals, where 18 countries

:10:33. > :10:37.will fight for 10 places in the grand final on Saturday.

:10:38. > :10:39.And you and the juries have the power!

:10:40. > :10:45.Your vote is crucial in deciding which ten countries that will be.

:10:46. > :10:47.Now, the big thing to remember is that UK viewers

:10:48. > :10:53.You will be able to vote in the second semi final on Thursday.

:10:54. > :10:56.That's because they split the voting of the Big 5 countries plus last

:10:57. > :11:00.year's winner, Sweden, over the two semifinals.

:11:01. > :11:06.And the reason the UK doesn't compete in the semifinals

:11:07. > :11:10.is because we are part of 'The Big 5' - the countries that make

:11:11. > :11:11.the biggest financial contribution to Eurovision,

:11:12. > :11:19.so we are guaranteed a place in the final along with Sweden.

:11:20. > :11:23.MEL: We want you to get in touch and tell us what you think

:11:24. > :11:26.And send us your questions for Joe and Jake.

:11:27. > :11:29.You can contact us via bbc.co.uk/eurovision OR

:11:30. > :11:41.facebook.com/bbceurovision OR tweet @bbceurovision

:11:42. > :11:45.Were you listening Scott? This is the perfect show to tweet along to.

:11:46. > :11:59.It really is. He is talking about an app, there is

:12:00. > :12:02.none for UK, despite what Mans is saying. Remember there is flashing

:12:03. > :12:12.images and strobe effects. Perfect - grab your towels,

:12:13. > :12:14.it's time to come together! Let the Eurovision

:12:15. > :12:24.Song Contest begin! APPLAUSE AND

:12:25. > :12:35.CHEERING Do you think people watching... They

:12:36. > :12:42.love Eurovision. This is our first act in semifinal one. It's Finland.

:12:43. > :12:55.She's wearing an actual reindeer tonight. Are you sure? She's wearing

:12:56. > :13:02.a suede... That's what she told me. Dressed as a suewe Reindeer? The

:13:03. > :13:05.track is called Sing It Away. It's a girl power anthem and she's a

:13:06. > :13:14.registered nurse, if you need to be resuscitated.

:13:15. > :13:18.# There's nothing harder than the strife

:13:19. > :13:22.# When heavy waters try to break you you will be singing for life

:13:23. > :13:24.# When you feel like your world is falling down

:13:25. > :13:36.# There's no need to be carrying a frown

:13:37. > :14:12.# So if you're focused you can make it

:14:13. > :14:15.# You'll feel like nothing can steer you off your course

:14:16. > :14:17.# When fear will try to make you cave in

:14:18. > :14:30.# When you feel like your dreams are beaten down

:14:31. > :14:34.# There's no need to be carrying a frown

:14:35. > :15:14.# When all of the walls come crashing down

:15:18. > :15:20.# Don't you worry about it Don't you worry about it

:15:21. > :16:12.I tell you what, I had a cracking night with the backing dancers at

:16:13. > :16:16.the EuroClub, the club which plays Eurovision music. You will find out

:16:17. > :16:21.more about that later in the week. Was that reindeers wait or

:16:22. > :16:25.towelling, I wonder? Listen up, you are going to really enjoy this

:16:26. > :16:28.clutch of young people. There's so much to say, here. A bit of a

:16:29. > :16:40.warning comes with this song, there is a Greek wrap in this performance

:16:41. > :16:45.and I like a Greek wrap as long it is filled with feta and that the

:16:46. > :16:50.key. Nice baked on that bread. Do you always say that when you see

:16:51. > :16:56.bread? It's my job. This band are called Argo, they are a melding of

:16:57. > :16:57.hip-hop and folklore. The song is called Utopian Land. This is Argo

:16:58. > :17:30.for Greece. # Peram' apsimon ke achpastame

:18:55. > :20:04.ksimeron Well, I hope you enjoyed those MC

:20:05. > :20:07.Hammer trousers. You were a bit distracted at the end and then you

:20:21. > :20:26.people are having a Eurovision party tonight. Of course they are. In

:20:27. > :20:31.Brighton. You can tweet us or get in touch on Facebook. This is Lady is

:20:32. > :20:37.sacked. It starts off as a standard Eurasian song, pretty girl sings

:20:38. > :20:42.about stars falling but won't beat specular onstage guest. I'm looking

:20:43. > :20:46.forward to it, and look, more good biking, lovely rise. She was part of

:20:47. > :20:51.a duo until last you but ditched the other one. That's show business and

:20:52. > :20:55.now she is here. Lidia Isac with Falling Stars.

:20:56. > :21:09.# The dark surrounds me when you're gone

:21:10. > :21:46.# It's coming down Coming down

:24:04. > :24:08.When I think of Eurovision, I think of big, are bright drums on a high

:24:09. > :24:12.dress all, being beaten, live, usually by someone in robes and

:24:13. > :24:17.that, my friends, is exactly what you can look forward to. This is

:24:18. > :24:20.Freddie, singing for Hungary and his song is called Pioneer. I don't want

:24:21. > :24:25.to be smug or boast or anything but I spent some time with him

:24:26. > :24:29.yesterday. We shared meatballs mascot! I know, we will see it late

:24:30. > :24:32.double there are also three blokes behind him which have been flown

:24:33. > :24:37.first-class from Hungary to Sweden just a whistle, probably. Think

:24:38. > :24:40.about that when you watch it. Lets hope they don't have dry mouths

:24:41. > :24:46.because it is hard to whistle when you have a dry mouth. Maybe just

:24:47. > :24:50.ignore the song and enjoy looking at Freddie. And here he is.

:24:51. > :25:22.# In a world where the poems sound fake

:25:23. > :25:28.# And the love is replaced by the fame

:25:29. > :25:32.# A million hearts of a million people

:25:33. > :25:41.# Be proud, you were born to be real, oh-oh

:25:42. > :25:45.# A million lies in a million temples

:25:46. > :25:55.# It's only fear Become a pioneer, oh-oh

:25:56. > :26:03.# They don't know how to value uniqueness

:27:19. > :27:32.# It's only fear Become a pioneer, oh-oh

:27:33. > :27:41.# You should know, You should know #.

:27:42. > :27:53.Well done, Freddie, and the whistlers. It is hard to whistle on

:27:54. > :28:03.demand. It was well worth getting them over. It is hard!

:28:04. > :28:08.SHE WHISTLES. People are saying he's a bit Zayn Malik. Who's that? One

:28:09. > :28:15.direction! That didn't happen, viewers. This is Nina Kraljic and if

:28:16. > :28:19.she looks in pain in this performance, she's carrying the

:28:20. > :28:23.weight of an eight-year-old child in her dress. There is an excellent

:28:24. > :28:26.costume reveal in this and I want you to look out for it. It's

:28:27. > :28:31.extraordinary, one of the best I have ever seen on Eurovision. If you

:28:32. > :28:35.think that the dress she is wearing when you first see her is out there,

:28:36. > :28:40.which you see the second. It is strong. This is a potential dark

:28:41. > :28:45.horse, the bookies think it should do well. I love Zayn Malik!

:31:41. > :31:52.So that was the first five entries and just a reminder that UK

:31:53. > :31:57.Your chance will come in the second semifinal on Thursday.

:31:58. > :31:58.Hvala Nina Kraljic, and welcome Croatia.

:31:59. > :32:01.You are watching the Eurovision Song Contest,

:32:02. > :32:07.or as most people call me after winning the Eurovision;

:32:08. > :32:14.Well, not so much? But maybe you could??

:32:15. > :32:22.city for what must be the biggest and best party in Europe.

:32:23. > :32:24.Over the past two weeks, Eurovision fans have arrived

:32:25. > :32:29.Mans and I decided to greet the fans with a little surprise.

:32:30. > :32:32.We pretended to be taxi drivers, and picked them up, to see

:32:33. > :32:58.Are you in? There is one more. I love the invisible cameras. Are you

:32:59. > :33:04.here for the Eurovision? Yes. You wouldn't be able to help me with

:33:05. > :33:09.tickets? Sadly, no. That's too bad. The first Eurovision was in 2013.

:33:10. > :33:14.That was in Sweden as well. Yeah. Were you there? Yeah, yeah, I was

:33:15. > :33:22.there. I don't know too much about it. Who is hosting the show in

:33:23. > :33:29.Stockholm? Petra and Mans. Many people say that I look like this,

:33:30. > :33:42.what's her name, Petra? You do. You sound like her too. What? I am

:33:43. > :33:54.telling you that is Petra. Oh my God! Oh my God! This is where Petra

:33:55. > :34:03.got her first kiss in 2012. She was a late bloomer. Yeah, very late. In

:34:04. > :34:12.there Mans actually lost his srir I didn't knowity. -- his virginity.

:34:13. > :34:18.Who was the lucky guy? I am picking up a friend. Hello!

:34:19. > :34:38.Arrange a party. You are right I wouldn't have seen

:34:39. > :34:56.those cameras in the car! Never. They are famous here Mans and Petra.

:34:57. > :35:02.Now look here, this is Douwe Bob. I hope he is jolly or merry. Don't

:35:03. > :35:06.want him to be dour. He has a pop-up bar he has opened in Stockholm. A

:35:07. > :35:11.lot of the acts have been going there to duet with him. He could be

:35:12. > :35:16.in Poldark. He could be the Dutch one. He has a large tattoo you can

:35:17. > :35:31.just see creeping out of his shirt there. A rose. Like Cheryl. This is

:35:32. > :35:40.Slow Down with Douwe Bob for the Netherlands.

:35:41. > :35:43.# I'm going nowhere and I'm going fast

:35:46. > :35:52.# I should find a place to lay my head tonight

:35:53. > :35:55.# Every morning there's another start

:35:56. > :36:01.# Guess I'm running scared Guess I'm running on empty

:36:02. > :36:20.# I keep searching for an answer, for a way

:36:21. > :36:57.# Now all I ever do don't seem to free me

:36:58. > :37:07.# I keep searching for an answer today

:37:08. > :38:37.Open your eyes! That was Douwe Bob. Rachel having a party in Glasgow

:38:38. > :38:41.tonight, that's their favourite so far. Really? Yeah. Who is here? Bob

:38:42. > :38:49.is hoping to get Holland through to the final. They didn't qualify last

:38:50. > :38:55.year. Next we are off to Armenia. This is the sexiest woman in Armenia

:38:56. > :39:03.2012. She has a classic Eurovision look. This is well over the top.

:39:04. > :39:09.With all the flashing images and strobe effects, flames... She makes

:39:10. > :39:14.a lovely flat bread, as well. Much drama in this. Apparently she helped

:39:15. > :39:24.co-write the lyrics. What does that mean? She was in the room. This is

:39:25. > :39:29.Armenia and Iveta Mukuchyan and Lovewave.

:39:30. > :39:34.but suddenly I'm not the same I used to be.

:39:35. > :39:37.It's like I've stepped out of space and time and come alive.

:39:38. > :39:40.Guess this is what it's all about, cos...

:39:41. > :39:46.# When it touched me the world went silent

:39:47. > :39:52.# The ground in motion set off all sirens

:39:53. > :39:57.# You took over my heartbeat... beat...beat...beat...

:39:58. > :40:30.# Gave me faith now I can break every single wall

:40:31. > :40:37.# Prove we can do it all when all is out of love

:40:38. > :40:50.# Spread a lovewave and my heart goes ba-ba-da-bu-who-oh-oh

:40:51. > :40:59.# I would give up and lose all trials

:41:00. > :41:52.# Shook my life like an earthquake Now I'm waking up

:41:53. > :41:56.# Gave me faith now I can break every single wall

:41:57. > :42:00.# Prove we can do it all when all is out of love

:42:01. > :42:11.# Spread a lovewave and my heart goes ba-ba-da-bu-who-oh-oh. #

:42:12. > :42:27.What's the deniere on those tights? I don't know what that means? It's

:42:28. > :42:34.the thickness. First time we have seen this and not flash her pants.

:42:35. > :42:41.She didn't in rehearsal. Bless her. This is absolutely marvellous. This

:42:42. > :42:47.is San Marino. This is Serhat. Hang on to your hats for this... Thanks

:42:48. > :42:57.for your support, Scott! He is the sort of Chris Rea of San Marino. An

:42:58. > :43:01.amazing gravelly voice. He is going sockless, that is the Eurovision

:43:02. > :43:05.law. Nobody from San Marino involved with this at all. It's a small

:43:06. > :43:12.country. They've officially run out of popstars. The backing singers go

:43:13. > :43:30.through the cupboards of Blake Seven. Look at this.

:43:31. > :43:36.# Far from every sight and every fear

:43:37. > :44:20.# Come along and live with my emotions

:44:21. > :46:31.Someone on Twitter says it reminds them of Benidorm, the TV show. I'm

:46:32. > :46:35.addicted to that! Thank you to San Marino, you might be Eurovision's

:46:36. > :46:39.smallest country but size does not matter in this competition. Now, all

:24:42. > :25:11.svako bira svoj grijeh Oh there is something for everyone,

:25:12. > :25:14.isn't there? Barbed wire... I was worried you was going to try to

:25:15. > :25:18.climb through the barbed wire in the dress. The fish tail would not have

:25:19. > :25:24.stood it. And the cellist lady with a cello between her legs, or is she

:25:25. > :25:27.OK? I think so. She was shaking around. Someone said it look like

:25:28. > :25:32.she had finished a marathon and she did with the bit odd. Some nice

:25:33. > :25:38.baked goods there. I thought you would notice that. This is Ira

:25:39. > :25:41.Losco, a big star in Malta, in 2002, she was douze points away from

:25:42. > :25:48.winning the entire Eurasian Song Contest, coming second. She went

:25:49. > :25:58.away for a while. They change their injury, Malta, they decided on this

:25:59. > :26:03.one. -- changed their entry. I hope it's the beginning of an era and not

:26:04. > :26:07.the end of an error. This track is called Walk On Water.

:26:08. > :29:14.She's expecting a baby! I like the lady with a bump. She's great! What

:29:15. > :29:20.a great dancer as well, not that I can really talk about dancing.

:29:21. > :29:23.We are done, I can't believe it. It's gone really quick.

:29:24. > :29:28.And there you have them, the competing songs in Semi-Final 1.

:29:29. > :29:30.Anyway, it's time to start the voting as the power shifts

:29:31. > :29:33.from the artists to the national juries in every country

:29:34. > :29:36.Remember, there's no voting for UK viewers tonight,

:29:37. > :29:37.despite what our Petra and Mans are saying.

:29:38. > :29:40.So please don't try, as your vote won't count

:29:41. > :29:49.UK viewers will be able to vote in the next semifinal on Thursday.

:29:50. > :29:57.It's here on BBC Four. Soon, Scott is going to be chatting to our Joe

:29:58. > :30:02.and Jake and I'm going to be doing some bonding with more of this

:30:03. > :30:07.year's acts, so don't go anywhere. You do that every year now, don't

:30:08. > :30:11.you? And if you can't get enough Eurovision come you can watch the

:30:12. > :30:17.full, an interrupted semifinal on the Eurovision website, obviously

:30:18. > :30:19.after we have finished. Europe, start voting now! You can't vote in

:30:20. > :30:23.the UK tonight. Some of the performances in this

:30:24. > :30:53.recap contain flashing Ah, Greece, remember them.

:30:54. > :30:58.Joe says I don't think Greece are going to the final on Saturday. Oh!

:30:59. > :31:05.You are a good man, Jamie. A nice pun on Argo there.

:31:06. > :31:11.Now, remember her? . Extraordinary stuff. Calum says Tim

:31:12. > :31:15.Peake gets everywhere these days. I thought it was the Stig actually

:31:16. > :31:19.when he first came on. I thought what's going on here?

:31:20. > :31:25.There he is! Still working those moves.

:31:26. > :31:35.Now we got a lot of chat about Hungary. This is Freddie, of course.

:31:36. > :31:40.Hazel said somebody get that man a throat sweet. Fred is - it's

:31:41. > :31:46.Freddie, my love, you are not intimate with him yet. Fred can make

:31:47. > :31:52.me dinner any day of the week, he said. This was a cracking reveal,

:31:53. > :31:56.wasn't it? Remember this? She looked like one of those dolls

:31:57. > :31:59.around a toilet roll holder. She's lovely, though.

:32:00. > :32:16.It's a bold hairdo. Having lots of fun on the

:32:17. > :32:19.make-believe clock there. That's a grower that song. Yeah, it is.

:32:20. > :32:35.Taking it easy there. Now a lot of social media traffic

:32:36. > :32:40.coming in for Armenia. Chris said Kardashian wind in the

:32:41. > :32:48.hair realness. Keith said call the Fire Brigade. She's bold. Yeah,

:32:49. > :32:56.let's just stand up and salute San Marino. The man in the burgundy

:32:57. > :33:03.trilby. Carl says classic Eurovision. Next, I must have bad

:33:04. > :33:15.taste in music because I love it. I am with you, Carl.

:33:16. > :33:19.Oh! # Thunder and lightning. # Yes, it's getting exciting!

:33:20. > :33:28.Man behind is very strong. You know the one I am talking about.

:33:29. > :33:38.I like this Miss Jones. Oh, but you are beautiful Miss Jones when she

:33:39. > :33:43.released her hairdo. That's a fine necklace around her neck, it's come

:33:44. > :33:50.out of the seabed or some such. Good luck to them. Cyprus. My new best

:33:51. > :33:56.friends. I spent a good hour with them yesterday morning and they were

:33:57. > :34:03.an absolute delight. I asked the man with the blue beard if he had five

:34:04. > :34:17.wives in his cellar. He didn't get the reference. Zoe.

:34:18. > :34:38.This is the dynamo of Estonia. He pulled out a little magic trick from

:34:39. > :34:43.the narrow-legged blue suit. I prefer him in Glasgow. I love him

:34:44. > :34:51.in Glasgow. -- I prefer him in glasses.

:34:52. > :35:01.Jonathan said dressed like Brit knee, arranged like Sia. That will

:35:02. > :35:05.do me. Is that Amal Clooney? That's a lookalike. I think Amal is very

:35:06. > :35:12.strong. Now what did we think of this?

:35:13. > :35:19.Sticky floor and a pint of snakebite anyone?

:35:20. > :35:24.I think she was short-changed. There she is.

:35:25. > :35:34.Now, Iceland. Naomi says blooming love this song.

:35:35. > :35:41.Extreme fringing! That would be a nightmare to pack in your case,

:35:42. > :35:52.Naomi. Oh, comedy teeth! Lovely stuff.

:35:53. > :36:00.Gary said very Game of Thrones. Extraordinary stuff.

:36:01. > :36:10.I think he looks like the actor Neil Stuke.

:36:11. > :36:15.Sorry! That tickled me. Like Cat Deeley this lady. When I was

:36:16. > :36:18.pregnant I was literally lying down and eating cheese like it was going

:36:19. > :36:26.out of fashion. She's representing her country. She's singing for Malta

:36:27. > :36:33.and I respect her. Lovely crystalware in the green room. Let's

:36:34. > :36:37.see what Scott is up to out there. Oh, here is Petra first.

:36:38. > :36:41.Thank you very much. Over the years on this show it's become traditional

:36:42. > :36:52.on the semifinals to give you a guided tour of the host city.

:36:53. > :36:55.This year we have someone from the EBU.

:36:56. > :37:00.Some of the information is inaccurate and most scenes have been

:37:01. > :37:04.created for entertainment purposes. Hey, here it is. Here is the bus.

:37:05. > :37:07.Flag it down. Let's do it.

:37:08. > :37:22.All right, mate. Hello. Wow! What a great turnout we

:37:23. > :37:31.have this time. My name is Linda and I am the official spokesperson for

:37:32. > :37:36.the European Broadcasting Union. So, welcome to the official EBU tour of

:37:37. > :37:42.Sweden! Verb very excited. Who have we got

:37:43. > :37:49.here? I am Joe. And I am Jake. We are Joe and Jake. Jackie and John.

:37:50. > :37:56.Joe and Josie. Lovely, welcome. Thank you. Driver, put a foot on it!

:37:57. > :38:07.Let's go. And we are off. This is the town.

:38:08. > :38:13.After months... Selmo... Won last year for Sweden, basically the

:38:14. > :38:18.contest came here. So, lads, if you look to the left you can see the

:38:19. > :38:24.Royal Palace. This is the largest Palace in Europe. It's the official

:38:25. > :38:30.residence of the Swedish monarch. Are you sure it's not the Palace

:38:31. > :38:37.building on the right? No, I think that's the library. It's this one on

:38:38. > :38:42.the right with Carl the King and the Queen. They live there. They must

:38:43. > :38:49.have got it wrong in the book. You know how things look bigger on the

:38:50. > :39:02.telly than real life. That's a statue. Of a person. This is a

:39:03. > :39:09.bridge. Over there somewhere, right, is the building that was designed to

:39:10. > :39:18.architecturally house artefacts of the founding fathers of Sweden,

:39:19. > :39:25.right. Wow. Bjorn, Benny, and... Isn't that Abba? No, it's the

:39:26. > :39:34.founding fathers of Sweden. Say hello to the Swedish people. Hello

:39:35. > :39:47.Swedish people! Hello. Hey, hey. This is Joe-Joe and Jackie. Vote for

:39:48. > :39:55.them in the Eurovision. Singing You Are Alone. It's Linda and Josie and

:39:56. > :40:08.Jackie like a group. What we would be called? Le Joackie. Which harp

:40:09. > :40:15.honey would -- harmony would I get? Even higher. I couldn't hit that.

:40:16. > :40:25.Nailed it. You are in the band. She can do the whistle. You are in the

:40:26. > :40:31.band. Right, lads, time to stretch those legs. Follow me. Up we go!

:40:32. > :40:35.Let's do it. What we need to do, if you want votes this is the street

:40:36. > :40:41.you sing at. We are going to join this girl here and we are going to

:40:42. > :40:44.get votes, right. Let's do it. # You are not alone

:40:45. > :40:53.# We are in this together. # All that you want is here forever

:40:54. > :40:59.# They don't need to know # They don't need to know

:41:00. > :41:04.# I, I, I feel like I am dancing # In the sky

:41:05. > :41:07.# I come alive when I am with you # I come alive when I am with you

:41:08. > :41:17.# Vote for England! Well, they've just about

:41:18. > :41:20.recovered from an afternoon with Lynda Woodruff

:41:21. > :41:28.and they're here. How was that afternoon on the bus?

:41:29. > :41:31.Interesting. It was lovely. It was a great day. Got to meet some people

:41:32. > :41:38.and experience Swedish culture. Incredible. You found her a bit

:41:39. > :41:46.weird? No, you can't get much weeder than us, can you really? Well --

:41:47. > :41:49.much weirder. You have had a few days to soak up the Stockholm

:41:50. > :41:53.experience. When you are in here how do you feel? It's pretty surreal.

:41:54. > :41:56.Obviously knowing that we are going to be performing here on Saturday in

:41:57. > :42:03.front of 200 million people, it's crazy. We are really excited. It's

:42:04. > :42:07.an amazing feeling being here. Looking at your face, you are look

:42:08. > :42:11.um! It's crazy out there. Not going to lie. It's pretty intimidating

:42:12. > :42:16.actually. I was going to say you have watched the show tonight. What

:42:17. > :42:21.have you been thinking? It's an amazing show. It's put on well. We

:42:22. > :42:25.can't wait to perform now. How are rehearsals going? You have been

:42:26. > :42:29.locked in rehearsals for a while? Going great. We were excited to get

:42:30. > :42:33.on the stage and see everything. You know, we can't wait to do it now. In

:42:34. > :42:37.front of the crowd, we are really excited. A lot of people obviously

:42:38. > :42:40.don't take Eurovision seriously in the UK, unlike they do in Sweden,

:42:41. > :42:43.where it's a serious matter. How seriously are you taking it?

:42:44. > :42:50.Massively seriously. We are working so hard to make sure we put on the

:42:51. > :42:56.best performance possible. And make the UK proud. We have Sony involved,

:42:57. > :43:00.one of the biggest labels involved, we can't wait to show everyone how

:43:01. > :43:03.hard we have been working and make everyone proud. We have some

:43:04. > :43:08.questions from Facebook and Twitter. What have you learned from the

:43:09. > :43:13.Eurovision experience so far, that's from Ross. What we have learned how

:43:14. > :43:16.Royal fans are, fans are massively loyal. Did you get mobbed earlier? A

:43:17. > :43:22.couple of times, yeah. But it was great. We loved it. This is from

:43:23. > :43:27.Grace. How did it feel to get a positive response after the

:43:28. > :43:32.rehearsals? Obviously a lot of bloggers report on every single move

:43:33. > :43:37.you make at Eurovision. It's been going down really well with them,

:43:38. > :43:41.with the fans. It's been going down well with the bloggers and fans and

:43:42. > :43:44.that feels incredible. We started on this journey, we wanted to change

:43:45. > :43:48.the perception of the Eurovision in the UK and with those receptions we

:43:49. > :43:53.have genuinely feel we are doing that. That's amazing. Quick one,

:43:54. > :43:58.Philip, what other acts do you get on with? We get on within a lot of

:43:59. > :44:02.other acts. We have a good laugh with France. He is a lad, similar

:44:03. > :44:09.sort of guy to us. We get on with him well. Back to you later and good

:44:10. > :44:12.luck for Saturday. Right, last year if you remember Conchita let Mel

:44:13. > :44:16.help her out. She was busy and Mel helped her in a cake shop. This year

:44:17. > :44:25.she's helping another busy Eurovision presenter, look at this.

:44:26. > :44:40.SHE SNORES PHONE RINGS. Is that the winner of Eurovision 2015 in Vienna?

:44:41. > :44:44.Yes, I have just woken up and it was very convincing. You want me to

:44:45. > :44:47.cover your shift at the meatball restaurant? Honestly, you and

:44:48. > :45:10.meatballs! Morning! Take a seat, I will be

:45:11. > :45:18.right with you. Heh. How are you? As they say in Sweden, heh, heh. Heh,

:45:19. > :45:23.heh, heh. Heh, heh, heh! LAUGHTER Can I get you some meatballs? That

:45:24. > :45:32.is what we serve here. I have got mousse, venison, reindeer, Turkey

:45:33. > :45:37.and Rooster. What do you fancy? The Venezuelan? Have not got that on the

:45:38. > :45:42.menu today. What did you say? Venison! LAUGHTER

:45:43. > :45:48.It looks amazing. Is the look is important to you for your original.

:45:49. > :45:55.Yes, of course, which is why my outfit for Eurovision itself cost

:45:56. > :45:59.more than 20,000 euros. Stop it! My shirt, Erin, microphone, shoes,

:46:00. > :46:02.microphone stand, everything is covered in Swarovski crystals and

:46:03. > :46:08.onstage, I look like I am wet because I chose like the very small

:46:09. > :46:16.ones. When you die your beard, do you have do go like that? Not

:46:17. > :46:19.really, I can just take it and put it on. Ever since even the band,

:46:20. > :46:26.everyone used to ask me about the colour of my hair. I'm sorry, man!

:46:27. > :46:31.I'm so sorry. The wolf is a theme. Tell me about it. It came about by

:46:32. > :46:41.accident. We win this studio. What is your technique for a good towel?

:46:42. > :46:46.There we go. THEY ALL HOW ALL. Do you have things that you do to stop

:46:47. > :46:52.yourself getting to Nevis? Before going on stage, I do some strange

:46:53. > :47:00.exercises for my voice. Show me. Somebody told me that you like to

:47:01. > :47:09.talk to your piano. Yes, I miss it a lot so I call it on based on

:47:10. > :47:15.everyday. -- face time. And I talked to him. OK, we need to get the

:47:16. > :47:26.paramedics! I think so! We really do. Tell me about your song this

:47:27. > :47:33.year. Like you, you are my. We are doing meatballs here, not doner, to

:47:34. > :47:38.make that clear. I did not know that everybody spoke about doner kebab.

:47:39. > :47:44.Yes but I think like we are about to have a seance. It feels very

:47:45. > :47:49.spiritual. Is anybody there? Oh, hello, she is singing, nice. I

:47:50. > :47:55.notice that you are on your own. Do you want some company. Yes? Can I

:47:56. > :48:02.share this if it is not to forward? Rod no, come on. Dig in. You are

:48:03. > :48:06.from Hungary. Are you hungry? Actually, I am. That was a bit of an

:48:07. > :48:16.icebreaker, did not go that well, let's just dig in. One. We might go

:48:17. > :48:17.for two. No! I have got two, slightly Marlon Brown though in the

:48:18. > :48:35.Godfather. Come on, Freddie! No! Sorry. Freddie, I'm so sorry. I

:48:36. > :48:39.don't know what came over me. I was trying to show off and impress you.

:48:40. > :48:46.It was amazing. I will definitely come back. We will? Second state?

:48:47. > :48:54.All right, sure. I'm free most nights. Yeah. Not committing, but

:48:55. > :48:58.never mind. Sorry, we are just doing a bit of

:48:59. > :49:02.this up here on the balcony. I don't know what that move is but we are

:49:03. > :49:05.doing it. We are going to be dissecting some at night's

:49:06. > :49:09.performances very shortly. I'm the luckiest woman in your vision

:49:10. > :49:17.because I'm joined to night by Nicky Byrne, formerly of Westlife... Oh,

:49:18. > :49:21.yeah! How are you? Extreme you well, great to see you, and I've also got

:49:22. > :49:26.the lady that all of you know as the amazing Lynda Woodruff, it is of

:49:27. > :49:35.course, Sarah Finer. Hello! Hallowed darling. Do you speak like that in

:49:36. > :49:40.real life? I don't, not at all. You have got a great accent, slightly

:49:41. > :49:45.Swedish, slightly American. Yes, my mother is from New York and my dad

:49:46. > :49:46.is from Bethnal Green in London and I'm from Stockholm. Great

:49:47. > :49:55.combination. Nikki, you are representing Ireland

:49:56. > :49:59.to have one Eurovision seven times. Sarah, you have the Swedish

:50:00. > :50:02.connection and using tremendously in Sweden a lot. Sweden have won six

:50:03. > :50:06.times, what is it about your countries that make you such

:50:07. > :50:12.consistent winners? How many times have the UK won it? Five. Not far

:50:13. > :50:16.behind. I think all countries, including the UK, have a huge music

:50:17. > :50:21.pedigree, we love Eurovision, we love our party and its 20 years

:50:22. > :50:28.since Ireland have wind it -- Ireland have won it. Sweden have won

:50:29. > :50:30.it twice then. I think the UK, Ireland and Sweden are songwriting

:50:31. > :50:34.countries and the songs are, well, they are very abroad and for the

:50:35. > :50:39.contest, that they have a quality that goes abroad, in every genre and

:50:40. > :50:44.in every country. We are all from countries that really respect

:50:45. > :50:50.musical tradition and melodies. Absolutely. Nicky as a former member

:50:51. > :50:54.of Westlife, I feel I have to give you a stool. Let's bring one in four

:50:55. > :51:02.Nicky. Please sit down. You know how long it's been? Do I get to have

:51:03. > :51:08.one? You can only get off the stool when you hear the words, key change,

:51:09. > :51:13.then you can stand up! All night? That's comfortable. Absolutely. What

:51:14. > :51:17.did you guys make often night's performances? We have seen all of

:51:18. > :51:21.the first semifinal. What are your feelings? I feel like we have better

:51:22. > :51:28.stuff to come but it's a good beginning with a lot of beautiful

:51:29. > :51:32.show numbers. A few good songs. What about the outfits? Any standouts for

:51:33. > :51:37.you? Like Croatia, with that extraordinary reveal out of the cake

:51:38. > :51:41.and into the storm trooper? Yes, there's been some crazy ones come

:51:42. > :51:45.all right but in terms of the songs, I really like the Czech Republic

:51:46. > :51:49.which is good because it is written by an Irish guy. I really liked it.

:51:50. > :51:54.Austria was triggered. I stand, to me, that was my favourite, very

:51:55. > :51:57.good, great screens and great graphics. I was not paying too much

:51:58. > :52:02.attention to the outfits, I'm not going to lie but some of the songs

:52:03. > :52:07.were very strong, Russia as well. Russia had an extraordinary key

:52:08. > :52:13.chains in it... You can step up from the stool, Nicky, there we go! Now,

:52:14. > :52:16.the gap that the Dutch guy left in his song, Douwe Bob, has been the

:52:17. > :52:23.talk of your vision so far. Was it quite a bold move? Ten second gap in

:52:24. > :52:26.the song. What did you think? I think he may be would have wanted to

:52:27. > :52:34.fill it with something else rather than saying, "I love you, too", like

:52:35. > :52:41.a silent sora message. I think it was effective. It made people talk.
