:00:00. > :00:28.This programme contains repetitive flashing images.

:00:29. > :00:38.Good evening to everyone back in the United Kingdom. This is Graham

:00:39. > :00:45.Norton wading you a warm welcome to the Eurovision Song Contest 2016,

:00:46. > :00:58.the 61st contest. You join me and 10,000 other people packed into the

:00:59. > :01:06.Globe Arena here in Stockholm. Sweden won it last year with Heroes

:01:07. > :01:12.and Mans Zelmerlow. Everybody just getting ready here. This Globe Arena

:01:13. > :01:20.was built in '89 and has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in the year

:01:21. > :01:24.2000. OK, down to the serious matter at hand. This is the Opening

:01:25. > :01:29.Ceremony, the flag ceremony, when all the acts come out on the stage.

:01:30. > :01:39.No physical flags tonight. Instead they're projected flags onto these

:01:40. > :01:45.extraordinary white costumes. The costumes were designed and they are

:01:46. > :01:52.hand folded. They are draped on models.

:01:53. > :02:03.The music is a mix of Swedish dance tracks, people like Swedish house

:02:04. > :02:14.Mafia Alesso. Here's the first country, Belgium. And Laura.

:02:15. > :02:18.The first time the Czech Republic have been in a final, well, ever.

:02:19. > :02:22.It's going to be a great show tonight. Do stay with us. We'll be

:02:23. > :02:25.here for about three-and-a-half hours, I imagine. There is a twist

:02:26. > :02:28.to the voting this year. There's a change to the way the results will

:02:29. > :02:34.be announced. Basically, it's just going to make it more dramatic at

:02:35. > :02:37.the end. More about that in a bit. A live performance from Justin

:02:38. > :02:45.Timberlake as well. And Joe and Jake will be flying the flag for Britain.

:02:46. > :02:57.They are performing in 25th place. 25 out of 26. So you can wait for

:02:58. > :03:00.them. I'm a bit like cheap wine, I don't travel very well, but I have

:03:01. > :03:08.so enjoyed my time here in Stockholm. They put on a wonderful

:03:09. > :03:15.welcome. The Swedes love Eurovision, I mean, deeply. They've got so good

:03:16. > :03:22.at it. It's just three years since we were in Malmo and now we're back.

:03:23. > :03:30.The production is stunning. You can follow all the action tonight with

:03:31. > :03:42.BBC Eurovision on Twitter, Facebook and bbc.co.uk/Eurovision. Bulgaria

:03:43. > :03:47.very popular. Not as popular as this next man, Sweden, it's Frans. He's

:03:48. > :03:54.only 17 years old that boy and he will be performing in ninth place.

:03:55. > :03:58.That's the only draw, the draw for the host country, which position

:03:59. > :04:02.they're going to be performing in. Sweden got number nine. For the

:04:03. > :04:16.rest, the producers put together. We are 25 out of 26. In the past few

:04:17. > :04:21.years, with the semifinals, a lot of the dross has been filtered out. Not

:04:22. > :04:25.tonight, ladies and gentleman! A couple of corkers have slipped

:04:26. > :04:31.through the net. Of course, tonight is being watched

:04:32. > :04:56.worldwide by only 200 million people in 50 countries.

:04:57. > :05:03.# Oh, sometimes I get a good feeling # Get a feeling that... #

:05:04. > :05:11.Wonder if they get to keep the costumes.

:05:12. > :05:39.All the time in the gym and that's what he's doing. I should remind you

:05:40. > :05:42.of course that as in most years, some of tonight's performances will

:05:43. > :05:47.contain flashing images and strobe effects.

:05:48. > :05:51.Do get in touch if you want a shout out for your party or whatever

:05:52. > :05:57.you're doing, if you want to hear what you think about tonight's

:05:58. > :06:19.performance, get in touch. Lithuania. Oh, that's got to hurt.

:06:20. > :06:43.And here come our boys. United Kingdom. Joe and Jake! Just 21 and

:06:44. > :06:47.22. They are so young. I think you will be thrilled when

:06:48. > :06:53.you see their performance later on tonight. They do such a good job,

:06:54. > :06:57.really, really proud of those boys. They've worked incredibly hard. The

:06:58. > :07:04.song is a credible pop song. Fingers crossed. That's all the countries.

:07:05. > :07:16.Now it's time to meet our hosts. They are familiar faces to our

:07:17. > :07:20.vision fans. It's last year's winner, Mans Zelmerlow and Petra

:07:21. > :07:24.Mede, she hosted it two years ago and worked in me in London when we

:07:25. > :07:30.hosted the 60th anniversary of Eurovision. They are genuinely

:07:31. > :07:34.funny. They're competent. They do, honestly, the interval song, they do

:07:35. > :07:39.an homage to Eurovision that is genius. You will, if you're a fan,

:07:40. > :07:47.you'll love it. As I say, the lighting tonight, they

:07:48. > :07:51.have gone hog wild. I'm told there are 90 million pixels in the

:07:52. > :07:58.staging. Write that down and remember it.

:07:59. > :08:15.Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Stockholm, Sweden, and the Grand

:08:16. > :08:18.Final of the biggest music competition in the world, my name is

:08:19. > :08:27.Petra Mede. CHEERING.

:08:28. > :08:33.The crowd really love these two, because they hosted the semifinals

:08:34. > :08:47.during the week. They're well known here. And my name is Mans Zelmerlow.

:08:48. > :08:51.This is the moment we've all been waiting for. Tonight 26 countries

:08:52. > :08:54.will compete for the win, while over 50 countries are watching live,

:08:55. > :09:03.including China and, for the first time ever, the US.

:09:04. > :09:06.CHEERING And when we reach the end of the show, in approximately three

:09:07. > :09:12.to eight hours... LAUGHTER

:09:13. > :09:14.We will have a new champion and the reigning champion, Mans will go back

:09:15. > :09:20.to being Mans Zelmerlow again. Do you know what that means? Yes. I can

:09:21. > :09:27.eat carbs again. Yes! Congratulations. This competition

:09:28. > :09:31.was created in 1956 to unify a continent torn apart by war. And

:09:32. > :09:35.right now Europe is once again facing darker times. That reminds us

:09:36. > :09:40.just how important this evening actually is. Because tonight, we set

:09:41. > :09:45.aside any differences we might have and unite through our love for

:09:46. > :09:49.music. This is what is so beautiful about this contest and exciting.

:09:50. > :09:53.Another beautiful thing about this contest is the fans, who have

:09:54. > :09:59.travelled here from all over the world, surrounding us right now.

:10:00. > :10:04.CHEERING You truly are the best and the most

:10:05. > :10:11.devoted audience in the world. Yes, you are. And I might add, the most

:10:12. > :10:15.respectful audience in the world. I was at a Eurovision party last night

:10:16. > :10:21.surrounded by fans and none of the guys came onto me.

:10:22. > :10:29.LAUGHTER Was it the same for you? Well... Any way. 26 nervous artists

:10:30. > :10:33.are waiting back stage ready to win your hearts and your support,

:10:34. > :10:37.because the power rests in your hands, together with the national

:10:38. > :10:41.juries in every country. Vote by calling or... This is the annoying

:10:42. > :10:45.bit where I speak over people speaking demrish. I apologise every

:10:46. > :10:49.year, I'm sorry. I need to explain some things. UK voters cannot vote

:10:50. > :10:55.by text the the lines won't open until the last song has been

:10:56. > :11:02.performed. You may have heard that there's a new system for this year.

:11:03. > :11:05.It's designed to make a more dramatic finish. Juries watch the

:11:06. > :11:09.rehearsal and cast their votes, which are converted into points. The

:11:10. > :11:12.spokesperson from each country will announce that. Those points are

:11:13. > :11:15.added to the scoreboard first. Once that's done, the public votes from

:11:16. > :11:19.each country will be converted into another set of points. They are then

:11:20. > :11:26.put into a big pot and added together. Petra and Mans will

:11:27. > :11:32.announce them from the lowest to the highiest. If you want to know more

:11:33. > :11:37.about these changes, Richard Osman has made a film and it is available

:11:38. > :11:40.on the website. This won't take any longer, but it will heighten the

:11:41. > :11:47.suspense. It might take a little longer! Are we ready to start the

:11:48. > :11:56.competition? Oh, yes, we are, Mans. CHEERING Really good atmosphere

:11:57. > :12:04.here, as I say, Stockholm is just putting on the biggest party. Lot

:12:05. > :12:12.the Eurovision Song Contest begin! OK. We're up and running, the small

:12:13. > :12:18.stand-alone spores create a big dandelion. The theme is "come

:12:19. > :12:21.together". I'd like to be at that meeting, but there you go, they

:12:22. > :12:26.signed off on it. The first song is Belgium. The young girl is 19. She's

:12:27. > :12:35.Laura Tesoro. The song is called What's the Pressure.

:12:36. > :12:39.Age 11 she performed as Anni and now she's doing this upbeat, funky

:12:40. > :12:40.number. It's a catchy pop song. But it is difficult performing in the

:12:41. > :12:47.first place. So, we begin song number one for

:12:48. > :13:04.Belgium. # Don't ask me why

:13:05. > :13:06.the sun is shining # The evening falls

:13:07. > :13:15.The bright lights # I see massive walls

:13:16. > :13:24.weighing down the people all around # Don't ask me why

:13:25. > :13:57.the sun is shining # Brings me all the joy

:13:58. > :14:01.and hope in life # I see massive walls

:14:02. > :14:13.weighing down the people all around Come on guys, stand up and dance

:14:14. > :16:04.with me, let's party! Song number one, What's The

:16:05. > :16:13.Pressure. The pressure is being 19 and opening this show. Onto number

:16:14. > :16:23.two, the Czech Republic have never appeared in the final before. This

:16:24. > :16:28.is Gabriela Guncikova, with I Stand. A woman standing alone, belting out

:16:29. > :16:36.a massive Eurovision and them. No Irish involvement, but one of the

:16:37. > :16:39.co-writers of this is Irish. Nicky Byrne had not get through the

:16:40. > :16:43.semifinals. When you see some of the songs that did get through, you will

:16:44. > :16:56.howl at the moon at the injustice of it all.

:16:57. > :19:59.Gabriela Guncikova, Czech Republic. She did a great job, but nobody has

:20:00. > :20:14.ever won performing in the second position. Off to the Netherlands,

:20:15. > :20:18.that man is Douwe Bob, the song is Slow Down, railing against modern

:20:19. > :20:23.life and how frenetic it is. In the middle of the song, he did not just

:20:24. > :20:29.slow down, he stops for ten seconds. It is quite lengthy. He is

:20:30. > :20:34.apparently putting 1000 euros on himself to win. I hope he does not

:20:35. > :20:39.need the money for tattooed laser removal later in life, because I

:20:40. > :20:41.think he has lost. It is quite a nice song, though, a country and

:20:42. > :20:56.western feel. See what you think. # I'm going nowhere

:20:57. > :21:00.and I'm going fast # I should find a place

:21:01. > :21:04.to go and rest # I should find a place

:21:05. > :21:11.to lay my head tonight # Every morning

:21:12. > :21:15.there's another start # Guess I'm running scared

:21:16. > :21:27.Guess I'm running on empty # I keep searching

:21:28. > :21:40.for an answer, for a way # Now all I ever do

:21:41. > :22:13.don't seem to free me # I keep searching

:22:14. > :23:56.for an answer today Slow Down, Europe, I love you!

:23:57. > :24:04.Thank you! Anybody else found the guitarist creepy? Shutouts for Alex,

:24:05. > :24:16.and Kelly, they are having a barbecue. Becky and then are there

:24:17. > :24:27.as well. This is Samra, for Azerbaijan, with Miracle. Azerbaijan

:24:28. > :24:47.always do well. I am sure they will tonight. Flaming towers!

:24:48. > :24:51.# You got in my head, boy Like a song?

:24:52. > :25:06.# But the radio stopped to play us long ago, long ago

:25:07. > :25:12.# Guess I've had enough, boy Guess I'm done

:25:13. > :25:24.# I made a mistake There's nothing to say

:25:25. > :25:38.# Gonna take a miracle to heal this love

:25:39. > :25:48.# This time I say goodbye I'm letting you go

:25:49. > :26:00.# It was a one way road for you and I

:26:01. > :26:04.# Yeah, we built this castle based on lies

:26:05. > :26:10.# And now we have hit the point of no return

:26:11. > :26:15.# We crash and we burn You live and you learn

:26:16. > :26:25.# Gonna take a miracle to heal this love

:26:26. > :26:35.# This time I say goodbye I'm letting you go

:26:36. > :26:46.# Gonna take a miracle to save us now?

:26:47. > :26:49.# And I won't pretend to be all right

:26:50. > :26:52.# My heart is on the line Our end is my start

:26:53. > :27:26.# Gonna take a miracle to save us now

:27:27. > :27:39.# Gonna take a miracle to save us now. #

:27:40. > :27:54.Thank you! Quite a good reaction in the hall. She did it better in

:27:55. > :28:01.rehearsal. We will see how the schools go. That was Azerbaijan.

:28:02. > :28:08.This is Freddie from Hungary, performing Pioneer. You must not

:28:09. > :28:15.worry about him. If he does not do well to night, he has always got his

:28:16. > :28:22.hotel management degree. He may be using it! The staging of this song

:28:23. > :28:26.is extraordinary. On one side of the stage, you have a Tibet and Monk

:28:27. > :28:33.drumming. Who knows why? On the other side, three backing singers,

:28:34. > :28:34.they must have said on their CV they were also backing dancers. They

:28:35. > :28:44.lied. # In a world

:28:45. > :29:17.where the poems sound fake # And the love

:29:18. > :29:23.is replaced by the fame # A million hearts

:29:24. > :29:27.of a million people # Be proud, you were born

:29:28. > :29:36.to be real, oh-oh # A million lies

:29:37. > :29:40.in a million temples # It's only fear

:29:41. > :29:50.Become a pioneer, oh-oh # They don't know

:29:51. > :29:58.how to value uniqueness # When there ain't no products

:29:59. > :30:10.to sell # A million hearts

:30:11. > :30:20.of a million people # Be proud, you were born

:30:21. > :30:30.to be real, oh-oh # A million lies

:30:31. > :30:33.in a million temples # It's only fear

:30:34. > :30:44.Become a pioneer, oh-oh # A million hearts

:30:45. > :31:00.of a million people # Be proud, you were born

:31:01. > :31:09.to be real, oh-oh # A mllion lies

:31:10. > :31:13.in a million temples # It's only fear

:31:14. > :31:24.Become a pioneer, oh-oh # You should know

:31:25. > :31:47.You should know. # I got the feeling he would have done

:31:48. > :31:53.better if he dropped the drummer and the dad dancing at the back.

:31:54. > :31:58.Song number six is the first of the big five to perform. That is Italy.

:31:59. > :32:00.The big five are the countries that make the biggest financial

:32:01. > :32:04.contribution to Eurovision, so they didn't have to take part in the

:32:05. > :32:07.semifinals along with Sweden, who won last year. The others are Spain,

:32:08. > :32:13.Germany, France and of course ourselves in the United Kingdom.

:32:14. > :32:18.Italy has been represented by Francesca Michielin and the song is

:32:19. > :32:23.No Degree Of Separation. It's already been a big hit in Italy, a

:32:24. > :32:27.number one and certified gold. It is a very good song, but the staging,

:32:28. > :32:32.well, it's incomprehensible. It's something to do with the Tree

:32:33. > :32:36.of Life and a seed and no separation between us. I did read a press

:32:37. > :32:39.release but I didn't understand. This is song six for Italy.

:34:03. > :34:08.# Sempre un passo indietro e l'anima in allerta

:34:09. > :34:21.# Mai completamente aperta e non da vicino

:34:22. > :34:31.# E no non c'e alcuna esitazione finalmente dentro di me

:34:32. > :34:42.# There is no degree of space between us

:34:43. > :35:07.# Dancing through the sky We are shining

:35:08. > :35:29.# E poi ho sentito un'emozione accendersi veloce

:35:30. > :35:37.# E farsi strada nel mio petto senza spegnere la voce. #

:35:38. > :35:54.Is it a potato? I don't know. I just don't know. We are precious. Grazi.

:35:55. > :35:59.You can get in touch by the BBC Eurovision website, Facebook or

:36:00. > :36:08.Twitter. You can download a score card. Sarah and Helen are all

:36:09. > :36:13.getting married and Sarah Martha S had a w wanted to say hello it them.

:36:14. > :36:18.This is song seven, Israel. His name is Hovi Star and the song is Made Of

:36:19. > :36:26.Stars. It's one of the better ballads in the show tonight. It's

:36:27. > :36:32.very popular with the Eurovision fans. He's comes with a mighty hoop.

:36:33. > :36:36.Sometimes his hoop lights up, sometimes it doesn't. It's

:36:37. > :36:39.temperamental like that. Let's see how it is tonight. Hovi Star, Made

:36:40. > :36:44.Of Stars, song seven. # You speak, I listen

:36:45. > :36:52.I'm your friend # Like there's no floor

:36:53. > :38:46.and there's no ceiling and # Dance with me like

:38:47. > :38:51.we are made of stars # Cos we are

:38:52. > :38:56.Cos we are # Dance with me like

:38:57. > :39:47.we are made of stars. # The dreams that you dare to dream

:39:48. > :39:51.really do come true. Thank you Europe! That was tense that. Many

:39:52. > :39:55.indoor fireworks and that amount of hair spray - never a good idea. But

:39:56. > :40:00.his hoop lit up, that's the main thing.

:40:01. > :40:05.Song eight is really terrific. I think it will do very well. Her name

:40:06. > :40:11.is Poli Genova and the song is If Love Was A Crime, representing

:40:12. > :40:15.Bulgaria. When I say this next performance contains flashing images

:40:16. > :40:21.and strobe effects, it really does. Some of them are on her. She might

:40:22. > :40:27.have been in a Bulgarian version Dragon's Den. She's invested in some

:40:28. > :40:31.lovely light-up knee pads, handy for gardening at night I imagine. I

:40:32. > :40:34.don't know what she gets up to. It's a really catchy pop song.

:40:35. > :40:48.Song eight, enjoy. ( # Like the stars

:40:49. > :43:45.on the summer night top five I'd say. Tonight's

:43:46. > :43:52.Eurovision is a bitter sweet one for many of us. It's the first contest

:43:53. > :43:56.since the death of Sir Terry Wogan. Eight years ago when I got this job,

:43:57. > :44:01.Sir Terry graciously phoned me. The only advice he had for me was -

:44:02. > :44:09.don't have a drink before song nine. Well, this is song nine. It's Frans

:44:10. > :44:13.representing Sweden with a song called If I Were Sorry. While the

:44:14. > :44:17.crowd here cheer on their home boy, I would urge you, back in the UK at

:44:18. > :44:22.home, to raise a cup, a mug, a glass, whatever you have in front of

:44:23. > :44:29.you and give thanks for the man who was and always will be the voice of

:44:30. > :44:41.Eurovision Sir Terry Wogan. Sir Terry, this is song nine.

:44:42. > :44:44.# I'd crawl through the desert on my hands and knees

:44:45. > :44:55.# Swim under water until my lungs exploded

:44:56. > :45:09.# Wouldn't take a break to breathe until I got close enough

:45:10. > :45:20.# But I know deep inside for you it's just another dance

:45:21. > :45:45.# I'd hold my breath until my face turned blue

:45:46. > :45:47.# I'd rob a bank and the post office too

:45:48. > :46:50.# And would you save the falling tear or act as if

:46:51. > :47:50.Frans is only 17, he has been hanging out with Joe and Jake all

:47:51. > :47:55.week. That is the song that has been stuck in my head all day. Will we be

:47:56. > :48:04.coming back to Sweden next year? Who knows.

:48:05. > :48:15.What can we say, thank you so much to our very own Frans. Yes, thank

:48:16. > :48:22.you to Frans. We are here in beautiful Stockholm. That is all

:48:23. > :48:28.because of one man. Thanks! The founder of our city! It was back in

:48:29. > :48:33.1252, and maybe he is looking back at us now, wishing to see the song

:48:34. > :48:42.from Germany. Guess what, it is your lucky day. The stage is ready for

:48:43. > :48:48.Jamie-Lee from Germany. Yes, another of the big five,

:48:49. > :48:54.Germany. Jamie-Lee is performing a song called Ghost. Maybe I am old

:48:55. > :49:03.and grumpy, but there is not a thing about her that does not annoy me.

:49:04. > :49:13.They had a very lengthy meeting about costume and set design, and

:49:14. > :49:17.daylight every single idea they had. I am sure the people at home would

:49:18. > :49:20.love this, lasers coming from trees, the moon, it has got things on her

:49:21. > :49:31.head. If you like this, enjoyed! # The love we get

:49:32. > :50:11.is the love we give # We're lonely

:50:12. > :50:23.in a crowded room together # We're playing house

:50:24. > :50:34.in these walls forever # Can we get

:50:35. > :50:51.an alternate ending, ooh # The love we get

:50:52. > :51:34.is the love we give # A money chest full of love

:51:35. > :51:37.But we hid the key # We're lonely

:51:38. > :51:45.in a crowded room together # We're playing house

:51:46. > :51:56.in these walls forever # We're lonely

:51:57. > :52:07.in a crowded room together # We're playing house

:52:08. > :52:36.in these walls forever Thank you, Europe!

:52:37. > :52:50.Jamie-Lee, making York seem great. Now, this is a man called Amir, J'ai

:52:51. > :52:56.cherche, France. It had been the bookies favourite, he is an

:52:57. > :53:00.engaging, charismatic performer, and one of the catchiest songs in the

:53:01. > :53:11.competition. It is a lovely song, he does a great job of it. Again, don't

:53:12. > :53:19.worry about him, because he is in fact a trained dentist.

:53:20. > :54:03.# You're the one that's making me strong

:54:04. > :54:19.# You're the one that's making me strong

:54:20. > :54:50.# You're the one that's making me strong

:54:51. > :55:05.# You're the one that's making me strong

:55:06. > :55:21.# C'est quand on n'y croit plus du tout

:55:22. > :55:36.# You're the one that's making me strong

:55:37. > :55:52.# You're the one that's making me strong

:55:53. > :56:08.# You're the one that's making me strong

:56:09. > :56:42.Lots of love he for Amir, with J'ai cherche. But that may not translate

:56:43. > :56:45.into votes, not everybody is a die-hard like the people here

:56:46. > :56:54.tonight. Tom and David with Brad and Andrew are watching. Roger, Sam,

:56:55. > :57:03.Tim, Kevin and the gang in Islington. Andreas Andersson bussed

:57:04. > :57:12.in our here in the stadium. This is song 12 for Poland, his name is

:57:13. > :57:14.Michal Szpak, with Color Of Your Life. He does not seem to enjoy

:57:15. > :57:22.performing very much. # When loneliness is

:57:23. > :57:28.knocking on your door # Everything you loved

:57:29. > :57:35.just disappears # And when you feel that

:57:36. > :57:40.everything is lost # You need to know there's

:57:41. > :57:46.no life without tears # No-one is forever beautiful

:57:47. > :58:18.and young # Everything you know

:58:19. > :58:24.just disappears # Fame and gold are nothing

:58:25. > :58:29.you can be sure # When there is no love

:58:30. > :58:35.in your heart # The choice is yours

:58:36. > :58:40.who you really want to be # So when you feel that

:58:41. > :58:52.everything is lost # You need to know

:58:53. > :58:58.there's no life without fear # Every day we must

:58:59. > :59:27.fight with the wind # All these things

:59:28. > :00:31.are just empty desire Even if you loved that, you have to

:00:32. > :00:34.agree socks, a belt and hair conditioner might have improved

:00:35. > :00:38.that. Song 12 from Poland. There's some Union Jacks. Hello boys. I'm

:00:39. > :00:42.sure somebody at home knows them. Thank you to Poland. I don't know

:00:43. > :00:47.what the colour of life is, but I do love the colour of his jacket. We

:00:48. > :00:50.have now heard almost half of the competing songs. Wow. If you haven't

:00:51. > :00:56.found your favourite yet, don't worry. We still have 14 songs to go.

:00:57. > :01:01.She says that like it's a good thing (! ) They are so crazy about

:01:02. > :01:08.stadiums and Eurovision here, there is a stadium next door with 10,000

:01:09. > :01:14.people in it. You are watching the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. So are

:01:15. > :01:18.over 50 other countries. Right now there are Eurovision parties all

:01:19. > :01:23.around the world and one is happening in the enormous arena next

:01:24. > :01:30.to us. Mans has run over there to check it out. I decided not to

:01:31. > :01:32.because of high heels. Here's Mans with Eurovision veterans. They're

:01:33. > :01:36.watching a big screen in the stadium. More fans are watching the

:01:37. > :01:40.show on a very, very big screen. Like I said. The atmosphere in here

:01:41. > :01:48.is unbelievable. It's like being at a football game, but you know, with

:01:49. > :01:53.more champagne. I'm standing here with two Eurovision royalties, look.

:01:54. > :01:58.Here we have them, Carola, who won in '91. And Lorraine, who won in

:01:59. > :02:06.2012. Are you enjoying the show? Very much. I can't even hear new

:02:07. > :02:12.this. Are you enjoying the show? Very much, thank you. We were

:02:13. > :02:15.discussing our Eurovision favourites, mine being

:02:16. > :02:18.# Everybody move your body # We are dancing

:02:19. > :02:27.# Everybody must be ready # Jump it up. Which is yours? Mine

:02:28. > :02:36.is from Israel with the universal language

:02:37. > :02:41.# Hallelujah What's your favourite? My absolute favourite song of all

:02:42. > :02:48.times is... # We are the heroes of our time... I

:02:49. > :02:58.love that song! Nicely handled, Mans! All right it's song 13 and you

:02:59. > :03:02.heard Mans, it's Australia. Now Australia were special guests last

:03:03. > :03:06.year for the 60th anniversary. Now it looks like they're here to stay.

:03:07. > :03:10.Hey, one of the things we love about Eurovision is the fact that it

:03:11. > :03:13.defies logic, so let's not try to explain it.

:03:14. > :03:18.Australia are now in Eurovision. Not just in it, they're In It To Win

:03:19. > :03:23.It. This is one of the bookies' favourites. Her name is Dami Im and

:03:24. > :03:28.she's performing a really great pop song called Sound Of Silence.

:03:29. > :03:33.Without doubt one of the best vocals in the competition tonight. She was

:03:34. > :03:38.born in South Korea but emigrated to Australia with her family at the age

:03:39. > :03:45.of nine. She won Australia X Factor in 2013. I don't know what's in the

:03:46. > :03:47.big box, that she's sitting on, possibly just her way home, I'm not

:03:48. > :03:49.sure. Song 13, it could be a winner,

:03:50. > :03:56.Australia. # Trying to feel your love

:03:57. > :04:08.through face time # Symphonies of dreams

:04:09. > :04:12.and highlights # Caught up

:04:13. > :04:16.in this crazy fast life # Now my heart awakes

:04:17. > :04:36.to the sound of silence # Now my heart awakes

:04:37. > :04:50.to the sound of silence # And it beats to

:04:51. > :04:58.the sound of silence # Getting hard to break

:04:59. > :05:04.through the madness # You're not here

:05:05. > :05:12.It never makes sense # Now my heart awakes

:05:13. > :05:39.to the sound of silence # Now my heart awakes

:05:40. > :05:53.to the sound of silence # And it beats to

:05:54. > :06:02.the sound of silence # I know I'm stronger

:06:03. > :06:09.and I'm capable # Now my heart awakes

:06:10. > :06:30.to the sound of silence # Now my heart awakes

:06:31. > :06:44.to the sound of silence # And it beats to

:06:45. > :07:04.the sound of silence. # Seriously impressive lungs on that

:07:05. > :07:13.girl, Dami Im, representing Australia. They're loving it in the

:07:14. > :07:19.arena. It's really, between that and Russia tonight. For one of the best

:07:20. > :07:25.songs in the competition... To Cyprus, song 14. The band is calls

:07:26. > :07:31.Minus One. Frankly Minus five might be better. The song is called Alter

:07:32. > :07:38.Ego. The next performance contains extreme flashing images and

:07:39. > :07:43.strobing. It's a big, rocky, noisy number. It's the sort of song that

:07:44. > :07:47.doesn't appeal, I think, so much to the Eurovision fans in the arena,

:07:48. > :07:53.but possibly to people watching across Europe, they will like this.

:07:54. > :07:55.The band perform in cages. I'm not sure who's being protected - them or

:07:56. > :08:09.the audience. Cyprus, song 14. # Waking up alone

:08:10. > :08:12.like a man that failed # Trapped into the mist

:08:13. > :08:15.of our fairytale # And you know, you know

:08:16. > :08:23.You know I'm still inside # I knew it all along

:08:24. > :08:26.but I couldn't tell # This kind of love

:08:27. > :08:30.would lock my heart in jail # You know, you know, you know

:08:31. > :08:37.it's doing time # Caught in the middle

:08:38. > :08:40.of the dawn and the sunrise # Life is a miracle

:08:41. > :08:44.I saw it in your eyes # Under the spotlight

:08:45. > :08:47.I howl in the moonlight # Take it on

:08:48. > :08:56.and get me through the night # Take it on

:08:57. > :09:05.and get me through the night # Take it on

:09:06. > :09:14.# I've heard it all before People always say

:09:15. > :09:18.# Time can take the sorrow and the pain away

:09:19. > :09:25.# You know, you know This love will never die

:09:26. > :09:28.# Caught in the middle of the dawn and the sunrise

:09:29. > :09:32.# Life is a miracle I saw it in your eyes

:09:33. > :09:36.# Under the spotlight I howl in the moonlight

:09:37. > :09:43.# Caught in the middle of the dawn and the sunrise

:09:44. > :09:48.# Life is a miracle I saw it in your eyes

:09:49. > :09:52.# Under the spotlight I howl in the moonlight

:09:53. > :09:58.# Take it on and get me through the night

:09:59. > :10:02.# Take it on Take it on until the morning light

:10:03. > :10:06.# Take it on and get me through the night

:10:07. > :10:08.# Take it on Take it on

:10:09. > :10:14.# I cross the oceans I fly on the skyline

:10:15. > :10:24.# Drive any road that will bring me by your side

:10:25. > :10:38.# Take it on and get me through the night

:10:39. > :10:40.# Take it on Take it on until the morning light

:10:41. > :10:46.# Take it on and get me through the night

:10:47. > :10:49.# Take it on Take it on

:10:50. > :10:53.# Caught in the middle of the dawn and the sunrise

:10:54. > :10:58.# Life is a miracle I saw it in your eyes. #

:10:59. > :11:11.Something for everyone. Eurovision 2016 - if you are joining us Joe and

:11:12. > :11:20.Jake have not performed yet. They're song 25 out of the 26. The King's

:11:21. > :11:27.Cross massive are watching. Pauline in Metherington. Gem in Bexleyheath.

:11:28. > :11:35.And Julie and Sharon at a party of 20 in Gravesend. They're all

:11:36. > :11:40.watching the show. This is song 15. Her name is Sanja Vucic ZAA,

:11:41. > :11:45.representing Serbia. The song is called Goodbye (Shelter). It takes a

:11:46. > :11:53.serious theme of domestic abuse and violence. There is a strange backing

:11:54. > :11:57.dancer, more like lurking than choreography. He is meant to be.

:11:58. > :12:06.There -- to be there. Song 15, Serbia.

:12:07. > :12:11.# I wish I could stop it I wish I could fight it

:12:12. > :12:22.# I thought that we were meant for each other

:12:23. > :12:37.# I played a fool so many times Can't even count it

:12:38. > :12:46.# Gotta fight my way out of your hands

:12:47. > :12:57.# I won't let you tear my world apart

:12:58. > :13:18.# I thought that it was supposed to hurt me

:13:19. > :13:29.# I put my hands up but I won't surrender

:13:30. > :13:34.# Don't need what doesn't serve me any more

:13:35. > :13:44.# I lick my wounds so many times so that I can keep on fighting

:14:51. > :14:59.# I won't let you tear my world apart

:15:00. > :15:02.# Every time I say goodbye You try to break me down #

:15:03. > :15:16.A date Eurovision ballad, the crowd seemed to like it.

:15:17. > :15:25.Thank you! Does this face look familiar? His

:15:26. > :15:37.name is Donny Montell, he came 14th in 2012. He wore a blindfold. This

:15:38. > :15:44.year, he is singing a song called I've Been Waiting for This Night. He

:15:45. > :15:53.is a really good performer, it is a very catchy pop song. Bless him, he

:15:54. > :15:54.has brought with him from Lithuania a mini trampoline. See if you can

:15:55. > :16:10.spot it. It gets minimal use. # Here we are together

:16:11. > :16:16.You and I...I... # Watching lights surround us

:16:17. > :16:23.Feel the night...night... # I was living in the dark

:16:24. > :16:26.Try to heal my broken heart # Here we are together

:16:27. > :16:40.You and I...I... # For a thousand years

:16:41. > :16:44.Through a million tears # With a hungry heart

:16:45. > :16:47.Every day apart # When I see your smile

:16:48. > :16:58.and your beautiful eyes # I get lost in time

:16:59. > :17:02.Now I know that I... # If only I could stay here

:17:03. > :17:16.by your side...side... # To promise you forever

:17:17. > :17:23.here tonight...night... # There is nothing I can do

:17:24. > :17:27.That can take my heart from you # If only I could stay here

:17:28. > :17:39.by your side...side... # For a thousand years

:17:40. > :17:42.Through a million tears # With a hungry heart

:17:43. > :17:46.Every day apart # When I see your smile

:18:46. > :19:11.You and I. # Song 16, four Lithuania, Donny

:19:12. > :19:18.Montell. It ever happens, he has got some new sneakers out of the

:19:19. > :19:23.competition. A quick shout to Paul Murphy and the gang on Dublin Hill,

:19:24. > :19:31.and Cameron, Matt, Paul and Jamie making flags in London. Still to

:19:32. > :19:35.come, the actual Justin Timberlake, performing two songs, plus Joe and

:19:36. > :19:45.Jake are song 25. This lady is hugging trees. Her name is Nina

:19:46. > :19:48.Kraljic, for Croatia, with a song called Lighthouse. The backing

:22:57. > :23:15.Song 17, Croatia. We love you guys!

:23:16. > :23:24.Now time for the actual bookies' favourite. Song 18, for Russia, this

:23:25. > :23:28.is Sergey Lazarev, You Are The Only One. He has been on a charm

:23:29. > :23:33.offensive to get rid of some of the negative reaction which often

:23:34. > :23:36.happens for Russia in the hall. He has spoken out against the

:23:37. > :23:47.homophobic laws in Russia, talked about Ukraine, and he has a bakery

:23:48. > :23:57.making cakes for dogs called Poodle Strudel. It looks like Mans' staging

:23:58. > :24:01.from last year, but he takes it up a notch. The song is fine, but the

:24:02. > :24:08.staging is extraordinary. It could be a winner.

:24:09. > :24:13.# We can never let the word be unspoken

:24:14. > :24:15.# We will never let our loving go come undone

:24:16. > :24:17.# Everything we had is staying unbroken, now

:26:57. > :27:12.Kitchen sink, please. He deserves point, just for syncing while

:27:13. > :27:16.climbing a wall. The ball is at a slight angle, that is how he can

:27:17. > :27:27.pick his feet in and climb up. It is really clever. That may well the our

:29:04. > :29:28.# No need to be afraid Ooh, ah

:29:29. > :29:39.# More than a thousand wounds upon my hands

:29:40. > :29:43.# Of every time I fought them face to face

:29:44. > :29:53.# To find the way to go back straight

:29:54. > :29:55.# I feel alive Bringing into play

:29:56. > :29:57.# My whole life Going all the way

:29:58. > :29:59.# I'm still alive And I turn away

:30:00. > :30:02.# I feel alive When I dare to say

:30:03. > :30:10.# Won't fix by running, running, running

:30:11. > :30:16.# Hurray Sing it la, la, la, la

:30:17. > :30:21.# Right now you're following your dreams

:30:22. > :31:05.If it was down to the crowd tonight, that might be the winner, they

:31:06. > :31:13.loved. It -- loved it. She tore the roof

:31:14. > :31:19.off this place, which is actually the largest spherical building in

:31:20. > :31:23.the world. You are watching the Eurovision Song Contest. For all you

:31:24. > :31:27.guys at home who love this show, it doesn't have to end when the

:31:28. > :31:33.broadcast is over. Whilst Petra tries to flog you some euro tat, let

:31:34. > :31:42.me tell you the names of the UK jury, made up of professionals in

:31:43. > :31:45.the UK. CC Sammy, BMonroe, Sean McGee and they cast their votes last

:31:46. > :31:51.night. If you are a true fan you can buy

:31:52. > :31:56.this cap. If you're a crazy fan, I strongly recommend the Eurovision

:31:57. > :32:00.straightjacket. You know what they say - crazy is the new black. Let's

:32:01. > :32:05.get back now to the show and the seven remaining songs. Yes only

:32:06. > :32:15.seven to go. Remember, Joe and Jake, song 25. Ben, Rachel Paul and the

:32:16. > :32:21.dogs are watching in London. There's a UK-Belgian mash up in Brixton.

:32:22. > :32:28.This man is Justs. He's singing Heartbeat and representing Latvia.

:32:29. > :32:34.He began his music career as a street musician in Riga. Look at him

:32:35. > :32:39.now. He's training as a vocal coach and hoping to open an alternative

:32:40. > :32:46.music school, whatever that might be. It's a really catchy song once

:32:47. > :32:53.it gets going, but the verse does seem a bit endless.

:32:54. > :32:58.This is song 20, Justs representing Latvia.

:32:59. > :33:22.# And things I did for sure were wrong

:33:23. > :33:47.# Feeling again that you're breathing with me

:33:48. > :33:55.# I learned by heart You're not my own

:33:56. > :34:36.# Feeling again that you're breathing with me

:34:37. > :34:54.# Feeling again that you're breathing with me

:34:55. > :35:29.# Feeling again that you're breathing with me

:35:30. > :35:34.# Feeling your heartbeat # Feeling again that

:35:35. > :35:55.you're breathing with me Wow, well the people of Latvia that

:35:56. > :36:00.Justs didn't give it his all. Thank you so much. This is all for you. If

:36:01. > :36:02.effort means points, he's getting a lot of them.

:36:03. > :36:07.He put everything into that. We've had a special visitor in the box.

:36:08. > :36:13.Next time you see Petra on stage, if she's a bit sweaty and breathless,

:36:14. > :36:17.it's because she madly made the long trek up to our commentary box just

:36:18. > :36:22.to say hi, extraordinary. Very nice to see her. I think we're putting a

:36:23. > :36:28.picture on Twitter apparently. We used it as a photo opportunity,

:36:29. > :36:34.obviously, didn't waste her time. This is Jamala, performing a song

:36:35. > :36:39.for the Ukraine, called 1944. It refers to her grandmother who was

:36:40. > :36:45.deported from Crimea in the 40s at the hands of Stalin. This has caused

:36:46. > :36:49.some controversy. But Jamala and Ukraine deny it's anything to do

:36:50. > :36:51.with Russia at the moment. Song 21 for Ukraine, a sincere, heart-felt

:36:52. > :40:02.performance here. Thank you. Thank you, Europe. That's

:40:03. > :40:05.a moment of real emotion and you can see the crowd reacted to it. I don't

:40:06. > :40:12.know how it came across on television, but here in the hall,

:40:13. > :40:18.people really appreciated it. That was song 21 for the Ukraine. OK we

:40:19. > :40:21.move on to Malta now. They failed to qualify last year, but now they're

:40:22. > :40:26.back. This is another artist who's already been in the contest, 2002.

:40:27. > :40:30.She came second. She was only 12 points from winning the competition.

:40:31. > :40:36.Her name is Ira Losco and the song is called Walk On Water. I can tell

:40:37. > :40:39.you, this isn't a secret, I didn't overhear it in a lift or anything,

:40:40. > :40:43.she is five months, no I don't know how many months pregnant she is.

:40:44. > :40:48.That's a lie. I don't know that! But she is pregnant and it's a little

:40:49. > :40:58.boy. Maternity wear is different in Malta, that's all I'm saying.

:40:59. > :44:06.Wow. Glad the water didn't break through that song. Those weren't the

:44:07. > :44:10.waters she was working on. Not sure whether that was the father lurking.

:44:11. > :44:18.But they're gone now. This is Georgia. They've appeared in the

:44:19. > :44:25.final six times. This year they're represented by Nika Kocharov and

:44:26. > :44:31.Young Georgian Lolitaz. The song is Midnight Gold. I have to warn you

:44:32. > :44:35.that the next performance contains extreme and prolonged flashing

:44:36. > :44:40.images and strobing. You've never seen anything like this. It's a wall

:44:41. > :44:44.of noise. It's not for me, to be honest, I don't think it's going to

:44:45. > :44:47.go down very well here, but in lots of countries, they may like this.

:44:48. > :44:50.There's nothing else like it in the competition apart from Cyprus.

:44:51. > :44:54.They're the two, big, noisy, rocky songs.

:44:55. > :44:56.Given the graphics available, they are doing things that looked

:44:57. > :45:11.embarrassing in 1977, there you go. # And grabbed a cigarette

:45:12. > :45:26.out of your bag # I never thought

:45:27. > :45:48.this all could happen to me # Pain and pleasure mixing in

:45:49. > :46:03.one bowl # My flesh and bones

:46:04. > :46:40.are dreaming in a haze # Night will come

:46:41. > :46:48.and so will the sin # Night will come

:46:49. > :46:55.and so will the sin # Night will come

:46:56. > :47:03.and so will the sin # On your skin, on your skin

:47:04. > :47:36.so come on # And grabbed a cigarette

:47:37. > :48:01.out of your bag. # Thank you, and happy birthday to my

:48:02. > :48:04.mother! Perhaps Stephen Hawking can explain

:48:05. > :48:13.how that was only three minutes. It felt a lot longer. I think Nicky

:48:14. > :48:20.Byrne is in's is not in the final, and that was! Kelly and Paul and the

:48:21. > :48:30.boys in London, and Nick and George in London. Mark watching in Wapping,

:48:31. > :48:42.and Conrad in Farringdon. This is song 24, Joe and Jake are next. This

:48:43. > :48:47.is Austria, ZOE, with Loin d'ici, the first French in the Austrian

:48:48. > :48:52.entry since 1966, when they went on to win. Her grandparents are French,

:48:53. > :48:55.she is comfortable speaking French. It is a pretty song, but the staging

:48:56. > :48:57.overwhelms her. # Et quand tu chantes

:48:58. > :49:05.oui moi je chante aussi # Et quand tu voles

:49:06. > :49:15.oui moi je vole aussi # Et quand la route nous semble

:49:16. > :49:55.sans issue # Sans aucun doute

:49:56. > :50:08.meme si on s'ra perdu # On s'elance, reuni,

:50:09. > :50:54.enivre, dans l'imprudence # On chante, on chante

:50:55. > :51:39.On danse, on danse # On chante, on chante

:51:40. > :52:06.On danse, on danse A really charming young performer

:52:07. > :52:10.there, ZOE. A pretty song. But it might get lost on a night like this,

:52:11. > :52:17.you don't know. This is the moment of truth, song 25, Joe and Jake, for

:52:18. > :52:24.the UK. There they are. They have done such a great job. Slightly

:52:25. > :52:29.awkward! They are just 21 and 22. Their performance, they really

:52:30. > :52:33.engage with the camera, they do a great job. On stage are the drummers

:52:34. > :52:44.Ross Harries and Mark Pusey, the backing vocals. If you sent in a

:52:45. > :52:50.self it, you might see it projected onto one of the screens. Jake has a

:52:51. > :52:52.nice time dancing on my face towards the end of the song. Good luck, Joe

:52:53. > :52:59.and Jake, this is it! # When you're not around

:53:00. > :53:04.it's beating slow # And it's something

:53:05. > :53:09.that I've never known # I'll be, I'll be the answer

:53:10. > :53:20.you've been waiting for # I'll be the truth

:53:21. > :53:24.that you've been looking for # You're not alone

:53:25. > :53:31.We're in this together # All that you want

:53:32. > :53:35.is right here forever # You're not alone

:53:36. > :53:46.We're in this together # All that you want

:53:47. > :53:50.is right here forever # And when you fall

:53:51. > :54:09.I'll be your parachute # I-I-I feel like

:54:10. > :54:19.I'm dancing in the sky # You're not alone

:54:20. > :54:31.We're in this together # All that you want

:54:32. > :54:35.is right here forever # I-I-I feel like

:54:36. > :54:49.I'm dancing in the sky # Your smile

:54:50. > :55:04.tells me all I need to know # Your eyes

:55:05. > :55:12.show me where I want to go, oh # You're not alone

:55:13. > :55:16.We're in this together # All that you want

:55:17. > :55:19.is right here forever # I-I-I feel like

:55:20. > :55:54.I'm dancing in the sky Heads held high, well done, Joe and

:55:55. > :55:59.Jake. Whatever happens tonight, they can go home very proud of

:56:00. > :56:04.themselves, two very young boys doing a great job for the United

:56:05. > :56:11.Kingdom. Lots of union Jacks in the hall and a good response, a really

:56:12. > :56:18.good response. This is it, this is the last song in the competition.

:56:19. > :56:29.Song 26, Armenia, her name is Iveta Mukuchyan, and the song is LoveWave.

:56:30. > :56:39.It is one of those songs, there is a slow build, and then it just kicks

:56:40. > :56:43.off. It will be a great final, and get the arena moving. This is the

:56:44. > :56:46.last song tonight, after we hear this, we will have heard the winner.

:56:47. > :56:50.Hey, it's me. Look, I know it might sound strange,

:56:51. > :56:54.but suddenly I'm not the same I used to be.

:56:55. > :57:02.It's like I've stepped out of space and time and come alive.

:57:03. > :57:04.# When it touched me the world went silent

:57:05. > :57:12.# The ground in motion set off all sirens

:57:13. > :57:34.# You took over my heartbeat... beat...beat...beat...

:57:35. > :57:52.# Gave me faith now I can break every single wall

:57:53. > :58:00.# Prove we can do it all when all is out of love

:58:01. > :58:11.# Spread a lovewave and my heart goes ba-ba-da-bu-who-oh-oh

:58:12. > :58:22.# I would give up and lose all trials

:58:23. > :59:08.# Shook my life like an earthquake Now I'm waking up

:59:09. > :59:16.# Gave me faith now I can break every single wall

:59:17. > :59:24.# Prove we can do it all when all is out of love

:59:25. > :59:32.# Spread a lovewave and my heart goes ba-ba-da-bu-who-oh-oh. #

:59:33. > :59:48.That's it. We've seen it all. You'll be able to vote very soon. Get a Ben

:59:49. > :59:54.and paper ready for all -- pen and paper ready for all the details,

:59:55. > :00:02.which I will give you shortly. 26 people have sung now back to Petra

:00:03. > :00:05.and Mans. Thanks to Iveta. There you have the 26 competing songs. I'm

:00:06. > :00:09.sure opinions are flying all around in your living rooms. Who was best?

:00:10. > :00:12.What was she wearing? This is a show that everyone can have an opinion

:00:13. > :00:18.about, some of them are nice, some of them are filled with phrase and

:00:19. > :00:22.some are down right vicious. I love watching Eurovision. I hope somebody

:00:23. > :00:28.from one of the more attractive countries wins. You know I

:00:29. > :00:33.considered appearing on Eurovision when I was a young man. There was no

:00:34. > :00:42.Eurovision when you were a young man. There was barely Europe. This

:00:43. > :00:45.feels like the longest night of my life. How long have we been

:00:46. > :01:11.watching? Five minutes. Sir Ian McKellan and jark Jacobi! --

:01:12. > :01:16.Derek. We have Eurovision fans from all over the world.

:01:17. > :01:21.CHEERING And you're just amazing. You know what - OK. I even saw... I

:01:22. > :01:24.have to talk over this, the new system this year doesn't affect the

:01:25. > :01:28.way you vote. I will give you voting numbers in a second. As usual expert

:01:29. > :01:32.juries watching the rehearsals last night and cast their votes which are

:01:33. > :01:37.converted into points and remain under lock and key. The difference

:01:38. > :01:39.is that the spokesperson from each country will only announce the

:01:40. > :01:43.points awarded by the jury. Those points will be added to the

:01:44. > :01:46.scoreboard first. Then the public votes will be converted into another

:01:47. > :01:52.set of points. They are put into one big pot and added together. Petra

:01:53. > :01:56.and Mans will announce them from the countries receiving the lowest total

:01:57. > :02:00.points to the highest. Stand by for a thrilling reveal. It's worked well

:02:01. > :02:05.in rehearsals. Don't vote yet as your vote won't count and you may be

:12:03. > :12:05.Timberlake in the Green Room. Hello. Welcome to the Eurovision Song

:12:06. > :12:10.Contest. Thank you. How's everyone feeling?

:12:11. > :12:17.CHEERING What have you been up to lately?

:12:18. > :12:24.Well, we've been going all the way across Europe promoting our new film

:12:25. > :12:28.DreamWorks animations Trolls. Then your people called my people and I

:12:29. > :12:32.said I have to come to Eurovision. Yes, we did. Yeah, that's what

:12:33. > :12:36.happened (! ) You're very, very welcome. Had you heard of the

:12:37. > :12:39.Eurovision Song Contest before? I've seen the last two years, yes. You

:12:40. > :12:43.have. So you saw me winning last year? Congratulations. You're doing

:12:44. > :12:48.just as good a job as the host. Isn't he doing a great job tonight?

:12:49. > :12:52.Can't argue with that. He is doing a great job, as is Petra. Do you have

:12:53. > :12:57.anything to say to the artists here tonight? To all of you, I know what

:12:58. > :13:00.it's like to sing a song for the first time or perform a song for the

:13:01. > :13:07.first time in fronts of - how many people? 200 million. No big deal! So

:13:08. > :13:10.I know you must have been nervous tonight, but you all represented

:13:11. > :13:17.your countries so very well. You should all be so very proud. Cheers

:13:18. > :13:23.to you. All those cameras but not one back there.

:13:24. > :13:26.Justin my new BFF. We're so happy and honoured to have you here. The

:13:27. > :13:30.stage will be yours in a couple of minutes. I'm performing my new song

:13:31. > :13:35.for everybody tonight, I'm nervous myself. I'm got to stretch, get

:13:36. > :13:39.ready. Go stretch. Thank you, Justin Timberlake. Yes, Justin is doing two

:13:40. > :13:44.songs tonight. I don't think it will be the last big American to come

:13:45. > :13:51.visiting. I'm not so bad either. Well... Maybe. No, you're not. Thank

:13:52. > :13:55.you very much. OK let's get concentrated. This is a show that

:13:56. > :14:00.celebrates popular muse nick all shapes and forms, in all genres and

:14:01. > :14:03.from all cultures. Let us stay on this subject for a few minutes. For

:14:04. > :14:07.decades the pop scene has been dominated by the US and UK. But in

:14:08. > :14:12.recent years, this little small country in the north that we call

:14:13. > :14:24.Sweden has emerged as a force to be reckoned with. Yes, we're not just

:14:25. > :14:29.Democrats. April 61974 was an historical date in our country when

:14:30. > :14:33.the band Blue Swede became the first ever artists to reach the number one

:14:34. > :14:39.spots on the American bill board. And on the exact same date, Sweden

:14:40. > :14:44.won their very first Eurovision Song Contest with a group called ABBA...

:14:45. > :14:48.CHEERING The next video will tell you the

:14:49. > :14:52.story. So buckle up. This video is made by the man who

:14:53. > :14:57.put together Madonna's Ray of Light video. He likes fast cutting. He's

:14:58. > :15:01.packed in over 70 Sweden songs and you are going to recognise the vast

:15:02. > :15:04.majority of them. It is extraordinary the amount of songs

:15:05. > :15:05.that have come from this small country, population of just nine

:25:20. > :25:30.could well be a regular occurrence now. They have finally figured out

:25:42. > :25:46.genius, you will really enjoy it. The lines are still open, your vote

:25:47. > :25:50.is crucial, the artists need your support. They are waiting in the

:25:51. > :25:56.green room. Before the night is over, one of them will be the new

:28:35. > :29:29.Soho. A lot of people asking if they can

:29:30. > :29:32.vote for the American entrant. Just to remind you, Justin Timberlake is

:29:33. > :30:10.a special guest, he has not fallen on hard times.

:30:11. > :30:18.Remember, you can't vote for the United Kingdom. Nothing amusing

:30:19. > :30:21.happens, you just can't. I'm told, it doesn't matter what I say, they

:30:22. > :30:29.always get loads of people trying to vote for the United Kingdom. You

:30:30. > :30:33.can't. Coming up soon such a great piece of entertainment from Petra

:30:34. > :30:36.and Mans. It's really clever and it's something for the Eurovision

:30:37. > :30:39.fans. This is very sweet as well. Your vote will make a difference.

:30:40. > :30:44.Now we have another special guest with us here in the arena. This

:30:45. > :30:49.young lady is none other than last year's winner of junior Eurovision

:30:50. > :30:57.Song Contest, Destiny from Malta. Hi everybody. Thank you. You won with a

:30:58. > :31:01.record-breaking 185 points, with your song Not My Soul. How has your

:31:02. > :31:06.life changed since winning? It is brilliant. I'm so lucky I've won the

:31:07. > :31:10.junior Eurovision. Right now I'm working on new material to grow in

:31:11. > :31:14.the music industry. Last but not least, I would love to invite you

:31:15. > :31:19.all to the Malta for this year's junior Eurovision. Thank you.

:31:20. > :31:25.Wonderful. Good luck to you Destiny and good luck to Malta hosting this

:31:26. > :31:27.year's junior Eurovision Song Contest. What a special moment for

:31:28. > :31:45.her. The lines are still open, keep

:31:46. > :31:49.voting to make sure your favourite will be our new winner of

:31:50. > :31:54.Eurovision. First let's look back in time. Up until this year, the

:31:55. > :31:59.Eurovision Song Contest has crowned 60 winners. Actually 63 if you count

:32:00. > :32:06.1969 when four countries split the win. Please don't interrupt me

:32:07. > :32:10.again. Over the years, 63 winners have graced our stage. It's

:32:11. > :32:14.interesting to look at all these winners and see if one can find a

:32:15. > :32:21.common thread. Is there a formula? Me and Mans decided to look deeper

:32:22. > :32:26.into this and sent all the 60... 3! Winners to a lab in Switzerland

:32:27. > :32:31.where some of the brightest minds in modern science wrote the songedz

:32:32. > :32:35.into -- songs into molecules and pieced them back together again. We

:32:36. > :32:40.finally got the result. This, ladies and gentleman, is the ultimate

:32:41. > :32:43.Eurovision winner. All the components from previous success is

:32:44. > :32:50.melted down into one perfect Eurovision smash. It's time for us

:32:51. > :32:54.to present the results. If you want to win the Eurovision Song Contest

:32:55. > :33:03.we suggest that you listen and learn. This is so ambitious and

:33:04. > :33:08.funny. Fans will love it. A powerful, majestic start, maybe a

:33:09. > :33:12.battle horn of some kind. Step two, drums. There has to be drums. It

:33:13. > :33:15.doesn't hurt if the drums are played by gorgeous, topless men. It's

:33:16. > :33:20.proven very efficient throughout the years. But please feel free to try

:33:21. > :33:29.other alternatives. It's proven helpful to go the exact opposite

:33:30. > :33:34.way, use a grandmother. Step three, show the viewers your country's

:33:35. > :33:38.ethnic background by using an old, traditional folklore instrument that

:33:39. > :33:42.no-one's heard of before. No, no, in this case, it's proven much more

:33:43. > :33:49.efficient to not use a young model. Go with an old man instead. A beard

:33:50. > :33:53.helps. This is a Swedish instrument, a small piece from the horn family

:33:54. > :33:59.inherited from the Vikings. Just make something up. No-one will know.

:34:00. > :34:09.Step four, in Eurovision nothing says winner like a violin. Trust us,

:34:10. > :34:17.bring a violin. That is the actual Alexander Vybeck. Guess he wasn't

:34:18. > :34:21.busy. The violin, drums can make it feel old fashioned but this can be

:34:22. > :34:26.fixed by adding a DJ who pretends to scratch. In real life, this is 30

:34:27. > :34:30.years old, but in Eurovision it will give your number a contemporary

:34:31. > :34:40.feel. Costumes - look memorable. Something that the viewers will

:34:41. > :34:48.notice. Perfect! Step seven, the song. Everything else might -- the

:34:49. > :34:52.song is essential. Love works. Peace is also a popular way to go. Peace

:34:53. > :34:57.is good. ABBA won the competition with a song about war, Waterloo, but

:34:58. > :35:06.this is not something we recommend. Now, when you have everything you

:35:07. > :35:11.need go for it and don't look back. # Let the song begin with passion

:35:12. > :35:14.# Let the wind begin to blow. # You can break the rules of fashion

:35:15. > :35:20.and your chance to win shall grow. # Look into the TV camera, so the

:35:21. > :35:26.audience can see # That you love but not desperate.

:35:27. > :35:30.# Fill the stage with light as dancers will join us.

:35:31. > :35:40.# The expectations grow # It's time for the chorus.

:35:41. > :35:45.# Love, love, peace, peace. # Peace, peace, love, love. And a

:35:46. > :35:50.man in a hamster wheel. #, love, peace, peace, love.

:35:51. > :35:55.# Make it unforgettable # You will be the best.

:35:56. > :36:02.# And win the Eurovision Song Contest.

:36:03. > :36:07.# Now we'll go down a notch. # Hour hands will touch, pretending

:36:08. > :36:14.we're in love # It's you and me and when we change

:36:15. > :36:25.the key, we'll give the world a show.

:36:26. > :36:29.# It begins to snow. Love, love, peace, peace

:36:30. > :36:34.# And a burning fake pinot # Peace, peace, love, love

:36:35. > :36:42.# And a Russian man on skates # Love, peace, peace, love

:36:43. > :36:54.# It will be incredible # You will be the best

:36:55. > :36:58.# Love, love, peace, peace # Party for everybody

:36:59. > :37:02.# Peace, peace, love, love # More tricks and a hamster wheel

:37:03. > :37:08.# Love, peace, peace, love # And we can guarantee that you will

:37:09. > :37:15.be the best # And win the Eurovision Song

:37:16. > :37:17.Contest. # And win the Eurovision Song

:37:18. > :37:21.Contest! #

:37:22. > :37:29.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Wow. The winners of

:37:30. > :37:33.Eurovision Song Contest 2016 really are Petra and Mans and the Swedish

:37:34. > :37:38.production team, the writers, directors, they've done a stunning

:37:39. > :37:42.job. I'm in awe of these two, Petra and Mans. To do all that, now

:37:43. > :37:45.they've got to talk. That's how it's supposed to be done according to the

:37:46. > :37:50.experts. Exactly. This is just a suggestion. You don't have to do

:37:51. > :37:58.everything. Of course. But talking of experts, I'd like to introduce a

:37:59. > :38:06.friend of ours, a special guest Miss Linda Woodruf.

:38:07. > :38:12.Her real name is different. Her dad is from Bethnal Green. I am the

:38:13. > :38:19.spokesperson from the EBU. I work together with the executive

:38:20. > :38:25.supervisor, Mr Jon Ola Sand. I love you. It is a great honour to share

:38:26. > :38:35.the stage tonight with these two amazing hosts, Miss Petra Mede and

:38:36. > :38:38.Mr Mans. We love us some Mans. Eurovision is being broadcast in

:38:39. > :38:46.every country in the world, except for a few, but even China is

:38:47. > :38:51.watching this year. And America. Yo. I'm here as a spokesperson to answer

:38:52. > :38:56.some of your questions. And because Petra and Mans have a costume

:38:57. > :39:05.change... You've been able to e-mail me at my official address

:39:06. > :39:11.Linda.spokesperson at EBU. Woodruff. Eurovision slash question slash

:39:12. > :39:17.fans.co.uk. The first question is from Mr Banna. Why are we in Sweden?

:39:18. > :39:25.Well, that's hay question Swedes ask themselves every winter, Autumn and

:39:26. > :39:34.spring. The answer is this: Mans and his balloon boy won last year in

:39:35. > :39:40.Austria. , beating out this poor Russian girl and her song A Million

:39:41. > :39:47.Horses. That is why Mans won and we brought back the contest here to

:39:48. > :39:55.beautiful Switzerland. Lovely. Next question is from Sam. "Do you want

:39:56. > :39:59.to buy Viagra? Sorry spam! Last question, is Mans single? Very valid

:40:00. > :40:09.question. I can tell you this much - he wasn't last night. So that's all

:40:10. > :40:18.for me. This is Linda Woodruf saying hope and glory.

:40:19. > :40:19.I wondered if they'd use the real audience, no they went with security

:40:20. > :40:31.guards. Much wiser. Welcome back. The lines are still

:40:32. > :40:37.open. Keep voting for your favourite. We are live here in

:40:38. > :40:41.Sweden, a country that is, well, obsessed with the Eurovision. Not in

:40:42. > :40:46.the way Petra, for example, is obsessed with attention. But in a

:40:47. > :40:54.more healthy way! Look and you'll see for yourselves in this new

:40:55. > :41:01.documentary, the nerd nation. Sweden has won the Eurovision Song

:41:02. > :41:04.Contest six times in 41 years. It might just be their proudest

:41:05. > :41:10.achievement since inventing the cheese slicer. If you ask any Swede,

:41:11. > :41:15.which is the greatest Eurovision nation in the world? He would

:41:16. > :41:19.answer, without hesitation, Ireland. Because he knows that. Swedes are

:41:20. > :41:24.obsessed with the Eurovision. You can see it everywhere, from the only

:41:25. > :41:30.tear drops ear drops to the every way that I can soup. We're

:41:31. > :41:37.absolutely bonkers for that stuff. To bratwurst. You can see it in

:41:38. > :41:42.religion, culture, astron my, even in education. Right now the most

:41:43. > :41:46.popular school in Sweden is the Dana international school, where they

:41:47. > :41:55.incorporate the Eurovision Song Contest in all subjects. From

:41:56. > :42:01.language studies. Douze points. To mathematics. If Norway gives Sweden

:42:02. > :42:04.ten points and the remaining 41 countries give Sweden 12 points

:42:05. > :42:10.each, how many points will Sweden have? Eurovision is so popular some

:42:11. > :42:17.Swedish computer hackers have even hacked their own computers so that

:42:18. > :42:22.it escape now means Eurovision Song Contest. I bet something cool

:42:23. > :42:25.happens when you press it. The Eurovision Song Contest is moving

:42:26. > :42:39.fast. Some claim it's taken God's place. Take me to your heaven. In

:42:40. > :42:43.the name of the Lordy, I hear by baptise you Conchita Katarina and

:42:44. > :42:47.the waves. The Swedish obsession with Eurovision has a down side.

:42:48. > :42:59.Street gangs roam the streets of Stockholm. The infamous monsters are

:43:00. > :43:02.a group of juvenile delink wents, but the dreaded kids are these. We

:43:03. > :43:06.don't care what society says. We want to hang out and listen to

:43:07. > :43:11.Euphoria. And other well known songs. No doubt.

:43:12. > :43:16.Have the Swedes lost their minds? Has it all gone too far? And the

:43:17. > :43:24.Lord said, go out and compete in music. Is the Eurovision movement a

:43:25. > :43:32.blessing or a curse? I know one thing, the future belongs to the

:43:33. > :43:53.Eurovisionaries not the euro don't know varies. I'm going to press it.

:43:54. > :43:59.Back to Petra in a fabulous gown for the voting. Thank you to the

:44:00. > :44:03.documentary the nerd nation. All right, behind me now the clock is

:44:04. > :44:09.ticking. Believe me, I know exactly what that feels like.

:44:10. > :44:14.LAUGHTER There are only seconds left to affect the outcome of this

:44:15. > :44:22.competition. If you want to see your favourite song win, you have to

:44:23. > :44:29.vote. Joe and Jake. Yay. Tonight you will have the final word. Hurry up

:44:30. > :44:36.and vote, because the lines will close in... 15, 14, 13... Counts

:44:37. > :44:46.downs are very hard. Even the Swedes struggle with a counts down.

:44:47. > :44:52.4, 3, 2, 1... Europe, stop voting. That's it. The lines are now closed.

:44:53. > :44:59.Please do not call or use the app, your vote will not count and you may

:45:00. > :45:03.still be charged. In 2007, a young singer entered our national

:45:04. > :45:08.selection and won the hearts of an entire country. Eight years later,

:45:09. > :45:12.he got to represent us in the Eurovision Song Contest and won the

:45:13. > :45:21.hearts of an entire continent. Ladies and gentleman, the reigning

:45:22. > :45:25.champion of Eurovision, and my dear, dear friend, Mans Zelmerlow. This is

:45:26. > :45:29.Mans going, if I'd entered this year - I would have won again. Look at my

:45:30. > :45:33.clever staging. The dots on the suits track the lights along the

:45:34. > :45:49.floors. You'll see what the mean. -- what I mean.

:45:50. > :46:26.# And the dreams we share, they are never gonna fade

:46:27. > :46:53.# We could mend every scar by looking at the stars

:46:54. > :47:51.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:47:52. > :48:04.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:48:05. > :48:16.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:48:17. > :48:55.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:48:56. > :49:05.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds

:49:06. > :49:33.Mans Zelmerlow. Much loved here in the hall. They have hosted all week,

:49:34. > :49:40.they are so popular here in Sweden. It is nearly time.

:49:41. > :49:45.The first half of the voting. Thank you to Mans Zelmerlow, last year's

:49:46. > :49:52.winner, and it is time to find ourselves a new winner. It is time

:49:53. > :49:57.to find out how you have voted. As we mentioned earlier, we were going

:49:58. > :50:01.to present the votes in a new way. This year, for the very first time

:50:02. > :50:06.in history, we are going to present the vote from the national jury 's

:50:07. > :50:11.and the telephone vote separately. Nothing has been changed in how you

:20:23. > :20:40.That is very nice. Barei. Good evening, I have to say

:20:41. > :20:45.that you made us laugh so much tonight, thank you.

:20:46. > :20:52.Just ten for Australia. Thank you so much. We are excited to

:20:53. > :21:02.receive 12 points from you. 12 points from Poland go to... Ukraine.

:21:03. > :21:07.Ukraine, 12 point four. -- 12 points.

:21:08. > :21:12.87 more points in it, but so many more points to be awarded.

:21:13. > :21:16.Good evening, Slovenia. I think she was in it last year, she

:21:17. > :21:24.had headphones then. Here for you the votes of the

:21:25. > :21:37.Slovenian jury. Exciting, and the 12 point? Our 12 point go to...

:21:38. > :21:44.Ukraine. Ukraine, 12 points. Taking them over 200. It is

:21:45. > :21:51.Australia and Ukraine over 200 points. They might get a cash prize,

:21:52. > :21:54.I'm not sure. Hello, Europe, thank you for this

:21:55. > :22:03.beautiful evening, we have really enjoyed it, fantastic. In all of

:22:04. > :22:08.Budapest, I wonder where she is. Hungary gives 12 points to...

:22:09. > :22:16.Australia. Back in the 12 is. Just two more to

:22:17. > :22:18.vote. And then we will get onto the popular vote. Very quickly, we will

:22:19. > :22:46.know the winner. So we say in Montenegro, the real

:22:47. > :22:51.thing. 12 point? Where do they go? Just four to Australia.

:22:52. > :22:59.12 points from Montenegro go to... Malta. Malta, 12 points.

:23:00. > :23:10.Again, no history of them giving votes to them.

:23:11. > :23:17.And now, I say good evening... She is popular here, she presents

:23:18. > :23:26.the national selection. Hello, Petra, and hello, Europe!

:23:27. > :23:32.They are crazy out here. As you can see, all of these crazy Eurovision

:23:33. > :23:43.fans will not fit into one arena, so we have two. If there is room in the

:23:44. > :23:48.heart, there is room in the butt. We want to receive the 12 points. You

:23:49. > :23:53.have done such a good job. The Swedish 12 points go to...

:23:54. > :24:03.Australia! There we go. Over 100 points in it

:24:04. > :24:05.at the moment, but that might all change as we get to the popular

:24:06. > :24:16.vote. Thank you to the Swedish jury and to

:24:17. > :24:21.Gina Dirawi. Back to you in the green room.

:24:22. > :24:39.We now know 50% of the final vote, let's take a look at the top five.

:24:40. > :24:47.Surprising that Sweden is not top five.

:24:48. > :24:51.We know you are the favourite, according to the jury,

:24:52. > :24:58.congratulations. What did you do five minutes before you went on

:24:59. > :25:04.stage? I drank water. You do not have a ritual? Or my rehearsals I

:25:05. > :25:11.have done the same thing, carrying my big dress, I land and I have a

:25:12. > :25:17.drink of water and go on, exactly the same each time. What will you do

:25:18. > :25:23.after the show if you win? Go and have a lemonade with Micro. A

:25:24. > :25:29.lemonade with your crew. If they win, it will not be in

:25:30. > :25:33.Australia, they will partner with an EBU member and it will be held in

:25:34. > :25:39.Europe. It is only the jury vote, we don't

:25:40. > :25:42.know what will happen, it is still very exciting for us Australians,

:25:43. > :25:47.said thank you for the nice votes will stop whatever happens, they are

:25:48. > :25:52.going to do very well indeed. It is an impressive lead, with half

:25:53. > :25:56.the votes to come. We are getting ready to present the

:25:57. > :26:06.telephone votes. This is where it gets very exciting.

:26:07. > :26:12.Thank you. The jury has voted, but everything can now change, as you at

:26:13. > :26:21.home have the final word. We are about to present your votes. But

:26:22. > :26:30.first, have the voting on according to plan? Yes. We have a result that

:26:31. > :26:33.is correct. He is always surprised when the

:26:34. > :26:38.camera goes to him, it happens every year.

:26:39. > :26:42.We will see how the new points system plays out, we present the

:26:43. > :26:46.points in a different way. Please do it now so we can find winner for the

:26:47. > :26:52.Eurovision Song Contest 2016, take it away.

:26:53. > :26:57.Thank you so much! This process is quite quick.

:26:58. > :27:01.Those of the votes from you watching at home. You have the same amount of

:27:02. > :27:07.points to give out as the jury. Your points from each country have been

:27:08. > :27:12.added together and will present them from the lowest to the highest.

:27:13. > :27:14.Let's take a look at the scoreboard with all of the points from the

:27:15. > :27:29.jury. It is the best result for the UK for

:27:30. > :27:37.a long time. Oddly ready? I think I am. It is now

:27:38. > :27:46.time to present the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. We

:27:47. > :27:55.will start by showing duty 16 countries that got the lowest scores

:27:56. > :27:58.from the viewers. Here they are. Zero points to Czech Republic.

:27:59. > :29:25.This is harsh. Oh, no. Gutting. We can see Belgium is in the top

:29:26. > :29:34.three. Still Australia in the lead, though.

:29:35. > :29:38.This is really nerve-racking. Ten songs are waiting for their points.

:29:39. > :29:42.These are the ten favourites, according to the televote. One of

:29:43. > :29:49.these ten songs will be the winner tonight. I'm afraid we've done the

:29:50. > :29:50.math and I think this is going to be a bad night for us. We might come

:29:51. > :30:10.24th. The country with the tenth highest

:30:11. > :30:16.score, with 96 points is... Lithuania.

:30:17. > :30:20.This is interesting. The huge disparity between the juries and the

:30:21. > :30:43.popular phone vote. The country... Something's gone a

:30:44. > :30:50.bit wrong. They're OK. They've fixed it. The country with the ninth

:30:51. > :31:02.highest score with 109 points is... France.

:31:03. > :31:05.So France are not winning. Again, a really good effort for

:31:06. > :31:24.France. The best they've done in a long, long time. The country with

:31:25. > :31:27.the eighth highest score. That is... With 120 points, I should say is...

:31:28. > :31:46.Austria. People liked Zoe and her sweet song.

:31:47. > :31:55.Getting a big cheer in the audience. That's very sweet for her.

:31:56. > :32:17.The country with the seventh highest score with 134 points is... Armenia.

:32:18. > :32:27.That was for LoveWave and Iveta. The country that got the sixth

:32:28. > :32:35.highest score, with 139 points is... Sweden.

:32:36. > :32:48.Good result for Sweden. But they can't win. The country with the

:32:49. > :33:03.fifth highest score with 180 points is...

:33:04. > :33:12.Bulgaria. This is extraordinary, Poland just got seven from the jury

:33:13. > :33:21.vote and look at them now. They're going to get a massive percentage of

:33:22. > :33:25.the phone vote. In the lead right now we still have Australia,

:33:26. > :33:30.followed by Bulgaria. Australia with 320 points, followed by Bulgaria

:33:31. > :33:36.with 307 and swede anyone third place with 261 points. I think

:33:37. > :33:41.Australia have to win now. You at home have a lot of points still to

:33:42. > :33:44.give out. Yes, ah, gosh. The atmosphere in this arena is very

:33:45. > :33:49.tense to say the least. Certainly very warm. I'm sure it's the same

:33:50. > :33:53.for you watching at home. And in the Green Room. Only four countries left

:33:54. > :34:00.that still haven't received their points from the televote. These four

:34:01. > :34:09.countries are: It's like The Hunger Games.

:34:10. > :34:12.Will one of these be tonight's winner? Let's find out. The Ukraine

:34:13. > :34:35.could do it. The country that got the fourth

:34:36. > :34:54.highest score... With 191 points is... Australia. Well, this is

:34:55. > :34:58.interesting. Is that enough to win? I like this, it's down to the wire.

:34:59. > :35:10.Now only three countries left that still haven't received their points

:35:11. > :35:15.from the televote. They are: If Ukraine get more than 300 votes...

:35:16. > :35:19.Russia, Ukraine and Poland. If Poland get the most votes that

:35:20. > :35:33.doesn't affect anybody. The country with the third highest score with

:35:34. > :35:42.222 points is... Poland. OK that's irrelevant. Extraordinary, but

:35:43. > :35:50.irrelevant. Euro nerds are going to have a field day analysing these

:35:51. > :35:55.votes. Only two countries left now to receive their points from you

:35:56. > :36:10.guys at home. The two favourite songs according to the televote,

:36:11. > :36:12.Russia and Ukraine. Will one of these get enough points to pass

:36:13. > :36:42.Australia in the lead? CHEERING The country that got the

:36:43. > :36:52.second highest score with 323 points is... That could do it.

:36:53. > :37:00.Ukraine. I think they've won. I think the Ukraine have won.

:37:01. > :37:08.Putting them in the lead. Kiev calling. Thunder and lightning, it's

:37:09. > :37:11.getting exciting. I don't think Russia can do it. I don't think

:37:12. > :37:15.there are enough votes left. The favourites according to the televote

:37:16. > :37:20.is Russia. They'll need more than 404 votes. Will the votes be enough

:37:21. > :37:38.to pass Ukraine? Loving this new voting system. This is great. Wow.

:37:39. > :37:48.Poor old Sergey. Popular in the room. 361 points... He hasn't done

:37:49. > :37:56.it. He nearly did. Where will he come

:37:57. > :38:03.now? In third place. We have a new winner of the Eurovision Song

:38:04. > :38:09.Contest 2016 - it's Ukraine! That is fascinating. The disparity between

:38:10. > :38:14.the jury vote and the popular vote, so revealing. I feel so sorry for

:38:15. > :38:17.Joe and Jake. I wish their dream had stayed alive for a little longer.

:38:18. > :38:24.But they did not do well in the phone vote at all. Didn't do well at

:38:25. > :38:29.all. But the joy was they got a 12 and they got lots of votes along the

:38:30. > :38:32.way from the juries. So at least they know that music professionals

:38:33. > :38:37.thought they did a good job and appreciated the song. But there's no

:38:38. > :38:40.stopping the Ukraine. Very disappointing for Australia, of

:38:41. > :38:45.course, to be in the lead for so long. Just so you know, the British

:38:46. > :38:49.popular vote, the phone vote in Britain, we gave one point to

:38:50. > :38:55.Sweden, two to Cyprus, three to Latvia, four to Spain, five to the

:38:56. > :39:02.Ukraine, six to Australia, seven to Russia, eight to Bulgaria, ten to

:39:03. > :39:12.Poland, interesting - but our 12 points went to - Lithuania.

:39:13. > :39:14.Lithuania, Donny Montell, I've Been Waiting for This Night, the most

:39:15. > :39:30.popular song with you watching at home. Now it's time to focus on our

:39:31. > :39:32.winner. The Ukraine! Jamala with her really personal, heart-felt song

:39:33. > :39:39.1944. I thought the seriousness of the topic may have been undermind by

:39:40. > :39:42.some of these euro fans. But what an extraordinary night for her. Oh, we

:39:43. > :39:46.nearly lost her. She's all right that. Would be awful, to win and

:39:47. > :39:59.then break your leg, that would be unfortunate. A sense of humour.

:40:00. > :40:06.How tantalising for Australia, though, to come so close. Yeah, I

:40:07. > :40:15.think we'll be doing this voting system again this year. That worked

:40:16. > :40:23.so well. The winner of Eurovision 2016, Jamala, representing Ukraine.

:40:24. > :40:30.Congratulations. I know it's hard, but do you have anything you want -

:40:31. > :40:37.what do you feel right now, what do you want to say to everyone who

:40:38. > :40:43.voted out there? I know that you sing song about peace and love, but

:40:44. > :40:51.actually, I really want peace and love to everyone! Thank you, Europe!

:40:52. > :40:58.Jamala from Ukraine. Welcome to Ukraine.

:40:59. > :41:05.CHEERING It is a very sweet Eurovision moment, when something

:41:06. > :41:07.sincere and serious wins the day. A really heart-felt performance and it

:41:08. > :41:16.obviously touched people all across Europe.

:41:17. > :41:23.We have a new winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, it's Jamala

:41:24. > :41:27.from Ukraine. Soon she will perform her winning song once again.

:41:28. > :41:33.Fantastic, and another amazing year comes to an end. It's time for us to

:41:34. > :41:39.say goodbye. If you want more Eurovision, and of course you do,

:41:40. > :41:42.just log onto Eurovision. TV and you will have everything you can dream

:41:43. > :41:45.of. Thank you for making this one of the best weeks of my life. Lovely,

:41:46. > :41:49.lovely Mans. Thank you for making this just the greatest week I ever

:41:50. > :41:56.had. And thanks to everyone watching us at home. We wish you a good and

:41:57. > :42:04.peaceful night. Take it away, the stage is yours, Ukraine! And huge

:42:05. > :42:12.kudos to Petra and Mans, who have steered this show so expertly this

:42:13. > :42:18.evening. A really wonderful job. Here she is, our winner, Jamala and

:42:19. > :42:34.her song, representing Ukraine, 1944.

:42:35. > :45:21.Thank you. Thank you, Europe. How emotional for her to be singing that

:45:22. > :45:25.tonight. I'm so sorry for Joe and Jake, terrible to not have done

:45:26. > :45:32.better in the phone vote. At least they got some love from the juries.

:45:33. > :45:41.Before we go, I have to thank the team back in London. They kept us on

:45:42. > :45:51.the air, thank you very much. Here in Stockholm, the team as well.

:45:52. > :45:57.Maybe we'll see you next year in Kiev. I'm Graham Norton, thanks for

:45:58. > :46:02.watching. Good night everybody.
