:03:51. > :03:57.collection of his greatest Eurovision commentary gems. Like
:03:58. > :04:06.this one. Keep an eye out for the high priest of the Bongo. There's
:04:07. > :04:14.the fellow o. CHEERING. The spirit of Eurovision

:04:23. > :04:33.Katrina! CHEERING. It's a feast. Katrina has
:04:34. > :04:38.a right to be on our expert panel tonight. She's the one who blew
:04:39. > :04:44.everyone away with Love Shine A Light. Later on I will be shining a

:05:09. > :05:15.that. He's a gorgeous Swede. Almost as gorgeous as swede with butter and
:05:16. > :05:21.pepper. That's an image ultimatum conjuring with now. Mans Zelmerow.
:05:22. > :05:26.This, my friends, is how he won. I need to know that some of tonight's
:05:27. > :05:34.performances may contain flashing images.

:07:26. > :07:40.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds
:07:41. > :07:52.# Don't say a word, don't make a sound
:07:53. > :08:11.# When you were lost I followed right behind

:08:31. > :09:04.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds
:09:05. > :09:19.# But we're dancing with the demons in our minds
:09:20. > :10:00.This is what a winner looks like, ladies and gentlemen!
:10:01. > :10:08.Mans, I'm missing slightly the leather trousers I'm sorry, I forgot
:10:09. > :10:15.them. At home. Next time I see you, I want you to wear them. Only
:10:16. > :10:19.leather. Always. What advice can you give to our six acts tonight? You
:10:20. > :10:23.have been through the whole process, you know what it is like. What
:10:24. > :10:27.advice can you give to them in Just that they should enjoy this moment.
:10:28. > :10:32.Show the audience that you really want to be here, want to be in
:10:33. > :10:38.Eurovision, want to represent your country. And sing the hell out of
:10:39. > :10:42.your song. Great advice. What about viewers watching at home, Mans. What
:10:43. > :10:46.advice can you give to them when they are trying to decide which act
:10:47. > :10:52.they should vote for? I think you should look for a song that catches
:10:53. > :10:55.your attention straight away and you just are mesmerised for those three
:10:56. > :11:00.minutes. That's what you are looking for. There are so many songs in
:11:01. > :11:06.Eurovision. You really need to stand out. So remember, you should be
:11:07. > :11:10.mesmerised, a little bit like I am at this very moment.
:11:11. > :11:15.CHEERING. Mans, it is so nice to see you. Let's catch up for some
:11:16. > :11:20.meatballs in Stockholm in May. Definitely. He doesn't want to, I
:11:21. > :11:30.can tell. Everybody, Mans Zelmerow! CHEERING. Thank you Mans.
:11:31. > :11:32.So, it's been made very clear to me that
:11:33. > :11:34.I can't spend the whole evening with Mans,
:11:35. > :11:39.But what should you be looking for?
:11:40. > :11:42.As Mans has just shown us, it's not enough to just
:11:43. > :11:44.have a brilliant song, you also need a great performance
:11:45. > :11:47.Now I know what you're all thinking.
:11:48. > :11:50.We love spectacular staging but we don't know what the stage in
:11:51. > :11:54.Stockholm looks like. Help us out! Well, luckily for you I nipped
:11:55. > :11:56.over to SVT, the Swedish broadcaster, had a look
:11:57. > :11:58.at their design for the Stockholm stage
:11:59. > :12:11.and knocked up this I'm very multi-skilled. Have a look
:12:12. > :12:15.at this. They've seen it. That was very quick wasn't it!
:12:16. > :12:32.LAUGHTER. I thought it was going to be longer! It doesn't matter.
:12:33. > :12:34.First up is vocal coach and former Eurovision performer,
:12:35. > :12:37.Then we've got choreographer Jay Revell.
:12:38. > :12:51.He's worked with stars like Ellie Goulding,
:12:52. > :12:53.Jess Glynne and Years Years so he knows
:12:54. > :12:55.a thing or two about putting on a show.
:12:56. > :12:57.And finally, who better to help our entrants
:12:58. > :12:58.than our last winner, the amazing Katrina!
:12:59. > :13:09.Look at the lovely panel on their survive el green chairs. Carrie,
:13:10. > :13:15.what are you going to be looking for in each performance? OK, two things
:13:16. > :13:19.for me tonight. Anthemic song and a singer who can sing in front of 200
:13:20. > :13:27.million people and not get nervous. Good. Katrina, you won in 1997. What
:13:28. > :13:33.did you have those years ago that you think has maybe been missing
:13:34. > :13:38.since? A really smelly green shirt I think, Mel. I loved your green
:13:39. > :13:42.shirt. You could have taken off with those collars. It was absolutely
:13:43. > :13:46.fantastic. You've got to have a lot of confidence. You have to have a
:13:47. > :13:52.very strong song and really want it with all your heart. Amazing. Jay, a
:13:53. > :13:56.little word from you, my love. A quick word about the staging. What
:13:57. > :14:03.should the guys be looking out for? Wow, they need to make it big and
:14:04. > :14:09.exciting. Just needs to match the song. Mans is a great example of how
:14:10. > :14:14.it matches the song. He won Eurovision. Lovely, thank you Jay. I
:14:15. > :14:18.told you I would deliver a good panel of experts. They are here to
:14:19. > :14:23.help but at the end of the day it is all down to our six performers and
:14:24. > :14:26.of course you at home. Your votes will start which of the six is off
:14:27. > :14:31.to Sweden. That's a lot of pressure on you guys. To ease that pressure a
:14:32. > :14:35.bit we won't be opening the vote until we've seen everyone perform,
:14:36. > :14:41.so please don't try voting just yet. Your vote won't count and you may
:14:42. > :14:45.still be charged. I think it is time we get this party started. What do
:14:46. > :14:52.you reckon? CHEERING. First up it's Dulcima, who
:14:53. > :14:55.will be performing When You Go. Let's find out a little bit more
:14:56. > :15:10.about them. I'm Tom, and I wrote the song. I'm
:15:11. > :15:15.Dulcima, I'm singing Tom's song. The name is also Dulcima, which refers
:15:16. > :15:20.to me and the band behind me as well. We are as one, Dulcima. We
:15:21. > :15:26.were buskers from Canterbury, that met on the high Street. Dulcima was
:15:27. > :15:29.a violin player and I used to play guitar and sing. Initially when we
:15:30. > :15:32.started busking we would play a lot of folk but as the years have
:15:33. > :15:36.developed we've gone on to play different styles of music. The song
:15:37. > :15:43.is about the positive spin on somebody we knew, how you deal with
:15:44. > :15:49.it. My favourite lyric is I held your hand, you help my heart. I
:15:50. > :15:53.don't know, it's fun to sing other thing, it's a great line to thing
:15:54. > :15:57.and I have a wonderful mental image of hands and hearts kind of
:15:58. > :16:03.intertwining and holding. My favourite lyric in the song is,
:16:04. > :16:07.well, the title, when you go, when you go I'm going to light a candle
:16:08. > :16:11.so I can see in the dark, and I'd like to say it had a deep meaning,
:16:12. > :16:18.but it's just because I do light candles. It's a really strong song
:16:19. > :16:22.and we've worked really hard on it. It's great fun to perform. I'd just
:16:23. > :16:29.really hope the British public will love it as much as we do.
:16:30. > :16:34.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Dulcima, with When You Go.
:16:35. > :16:52.# It was only you and me at the start
:16:53. > :16:55.# I held your hand, you held my heart
:16:56. > :17:00.# So when you go I'm gonna light a candle
:17:01. > :17:07.# So please don't make things difficult
:17:08. > :17:22.# It was only you and me at the start
:17:23. > :17:50.# So when you go I'm gonna light a candle
:17:51. > :17:58.# So please don't make things difficult
:17:59. > :18:02.# It was only you and me at the start
:18:03. > :18:10.# And finally we'll try to read through the heart
:18:11. > :18:15.# So please don't make things difficult
:18:16. > :18:23.# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever
:18:24. > :18:31.# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever
:18:32. > :18:40.# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever
:18:41. > :18:48.# Now you're gone we can sing this song forever
:18:49. > :18:56.# So when you go I'm gonna light a candle
:18:57. > :19:04.# So please don't make things difficult
:19:05. > :19:09.# It was only you and me at the start
:19:10. > :19:17.# And finally we'll try to read through the heart
:19:18. > :19:21.# So please don't make things difficult
:19:22. > :19:39.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Thank you.
:19:40. > :19:49.Well done first up. I want it to go like that, it's one of those songs.
:19:50. > :19:55.Loved it! Carrie, the lovely Carrie Grant. What did you think of that?
:19:56. > :19:59.Locally, and otherwise? I love the fact there was lots of musicians on
:20:00. > :20:03.stage, that's fantastic. Goods long. My slight question with these guys
:20:04. > :20:08.is when I look at you I feel like your music should be darker -- good
:20:09. > :20:18.song. More rock, something a bit more sinister, and... AUDIENCE
:20:19. > :20:23.BREWS. It looks lightweight, far how you look and sound. It's quite a
:20:24. > :20:28.folksy look and song that Dulcima have got. How would that translate
:20:29. > :20:30.onto a huge stage in Stockholm? The energy they bring is absolutely
:20:31. > :20:34.electric. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:20:35. > :20:38.Look at what happened just now, with the players up there, the energy
:20:39. > :20:44.they've give playing their instruments, they are real musicians
:20:45. > :20:50.and showcasing that. They turn up, stomp in and nailed it. Well done,
:20:51. > :20:53.Jay. Magical. There's electricity already here between Jay and
:20:54. > :20:58.Dulcima. Katrina, you know more than any of us hear what it's like to
:20:59. > :21:02.sing with a band behind you. Do they give you support on the night, when
:21:03. > :21:06.you are out there right Eurovision? Is it nice, singing with a band? Of
:21:07. > :21:12.course, it's a wonderful iconic moment to be able to spend with the
:21:13. > :21:16.band that you love. The clean-up of -- Katrina and the Waves was the
:21:17. > :21:20.name of the group, we had help from the back-up singers. It was a
:21:21. > :21:22.rousing start. If the next band are like that...
:21:23. > :21:30.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE How are you, love? My face is
:21:31. > :21:33.twitching from smiling. Don't you worry, it's a beautiful twitching
:21:34. > :21:35.face. If you think that Dulcima has got what it takes to represent the
:21:36. > :21:53.UK, then you will need to call... You can vote online for free. Give
:21:54. > :21:59.them your love, Dulcima. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:22:00. > :22:07.Time now to find out about song Liberty. It's called A Better Man,
:22:08. > :22:17.and is being performed for you by Matthew James. -- song number two.
:22:18. > :22:21.Let's take a look. AIDS joined -- I joined 22 years ago when I was
:22:22. > :22:24.studying at college and was literally hating it and wanted to
:22:25. > :22:30.get out of college, I got a phone call, can you thing? I think so, I
:22:31. > :22:36.sang and the next day I was in a teacup at Alton Towers in a boy
:22:37. > :22:42.band. That's it! Six top 40 hits and travelled the world, take me away,
:22:43. > :22:49.on Top Of The Pops was hysterical. Give it all this weird looks,
:22:50. > :22:53.brilliant. The song I'm singing is A Better Man. I heard the song, it was
:22:54. > :22:58.like, this is so uplifting. It gave me goose bumps. The song is about
:22:59. > :23:04.love, clearly, and it's about how when you find somebody that you
:23:05. > :23:09.really, really connect to, that person makes you a better person
:23:10. > :23:12.yourself. My favourite lyric is you inspire me, give me reason to
:23:13. > :23:16.believe. It's nice to have people around you, whether a partner or
:23:17. > :23:19.friends, and everyone has been so supportive of me doing Eurovision.
:23:20. > :23:23.It feels like now was the right time. It's a great song. I will give
:23:24. > :23:26.it my best. There will be an element of nerves for performance. Nerves
:23:27. > :23:33.and excitement will get me through and give me that little lift to get
:23:34. > :23:35.through the song. I want to do my best performance, really, and
:23:36. > :23:37.hopefully people can relate to it and people like it.
:23:38. > :23:39.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Its Matthew James, with A Better
:23:40. > :23:48.Man. # The sound of your laugh
:23:49. > :24:05.is what I live for # With a single word you make me
:24:06. > :24:28.who I am # And with every day
:24:29. > :24:35.you make me want to be # And I'll take care of all
:24:36. > :24:54.your needs # All you've gotta do is let
:24:55. > :25:00.me know # With a single word
:25:01. > :25:23.you make me who I am # And with every day
:25:24. > :25:29.you make me want to be # With a single word you make me
:25:30. > :26:13.who I am # And with every day
:26:14. > :26:55.you make me want to be CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:26:56. > :27:01.Thank you. Well done. Did I scare you? It's lovely to see you. Now,
:27:02. > :27:04.Jay, that struck me, it was an intimate performance, it was an
:27:05. > :27:08.intense performance. Did it work for you question might it was definitely
:27:09. > :27:13.intimate. He made a real connection with his audience. He got his
:27:14. > :27:17.message across as best he could. He sang the song excellently, it was
:27:18. > :27:23.awesome. Good job. Carrie, let's talk about the vocals. What did you
:27:24. > :27:26.think? It's really clear you are an experienced performer and there's a
:27:27. > :27:31.security that we feel when we hear that. I actually really love this
:27:32. > :27:36.song. But the public have got to decide, is this the type of song
:27:37. > :27:41.that can win it for the UK? That's the big question. Katrina, you write
:27:42. > :27:46.lots of songs. What did you think a bit in terms of its lyrics? This
:27:47. > :27:51.song has a beautiful narrative. It's very passionate. It feels as if it's
:27:52. > :27:55.coming from such a personal place. It's very inspiring lyrics as well.
:27:56. > :28:01.Really beautiful singing. Wise words from the panel. If you think that
:28:02. > :28:03.Matthew here has got what it takes to represent the UK, then you will
:28:04. > :28:18.need to call... The vote opens after we have seen
:28:19. > :28:27.everyone perform, later in the show. Give it up for Matthew. Well done,
:28:28. > :28:32.Matthew. So two down, four to go, and next up we have a gorgeous
:28:33. > :28:42.country pop duo, called Darline, and the song, Until Tomorrow. Let's see
:28:43. > :28:48.what they have to say. We first met through a mutual friend, we knew Ben
:28:49. > :28:52.from the shires and he put us together because we worked so great
:28:53. > :28:57.together. Every day we get to get up and do everything we love to do, and
:28:58. > :29:01.two passions together makes it explode. It's so fun, so fantastic,
:29:02. > :29:08.someone to laugh at the stuff you would laugh at yourself with. Our
:29:09. > :29:11.sound is country, a bigger pop sound basically, but still with our
:29:12. > :29:16.country routes that we have grown up on. We were very, very lucky to be
:29:17. > :29:21.asked to go on tour with the Shires, an amazing country duo. We were
:29:22. > :29:26.really excited, so nervous. It was really fun. The song is called Until
:29:27. > :29:31.Tomorrow and it's kind of about grasping hold of a moment,
:29:32. > :29:33.basically. Having fun. It just relates really well to every
:29:34. > :29:46.situation, so it's really lovely. We wrote the same one? It's a strong
:29:47. > :29:50.lyric. We both absolutely love the opening lyric, if you've never seen
:29:51. > :29:55.the dark then you've never seen the stars. I love, that because it means
:29:56. > :29:59.that you have to go through some bad time to see the good times. To
:30:00. > :30:05.represent the UK would be amazing for us. We want to have fun. We want
:30:06. > :30:09.everyone to enjoy it, and the buzz from that will be amazing. It's
:30:10. > :30:21.Darline with Until Tomorrow. # If you've never seen the dark,
:30:22. > :30:27.then you've never seen the stars # Even if you break my heart,
:30:28. > :30:32.I'll be here tomorrow # Nothing ventured, nothing gained,
:30:33. > :30:37.throw your other plans away # Even if you only
:30:38. > :30:44.stay until tomorrow # Hold on to me and
:30:45. > :30:50.I'll hold on to you # I won't let go, won't
:30:51. > :30:54.let go until tomorrow # Hold on to me, like
:30:55. > :30:59.the last leaf on a tree # I won't let go, won't
:31:00. > :31:06.let go until tomorrow # And in the harbour you'll be warm,
:31:07. > :31:11.you'll be safe against the storm # But that's not what
:31:12. > :31:15.I'm looking for, no # What will be will surely
:31:16. > :31:27.be, until tomorrow # Hold on to me and
:31:28. > :31:32.I'll hold on to you # I won't let go, won't
:31:33. > :31:37.let go until tomorrow # Hold on to me, like
:31:38. > :31:42.the last leaf on a tree # I won't let go, won't
:31:43. > :31:48.let go until tomorrow # I will always want
:31:49. > :32:10.you until tomorrow # If you've never seen the dark,
:32:11. > :32:15.then you've never seen the stars # Hold on to me and
:32:16. > :32:23.I'll hold on to you # I won't let go, won't
:32:24. > :32:28.let go until tomorrow # Hold on to me, like
:32:29. > :32:34.the last leaf on a tree # I won't let go, won't
:32:35. > :32:39.let go until tomorrow # I'll always want you,
:32:40. > :32:54.until tomorrow # I'll always want you,
:32:55. > :33:27.until tomorrow #. Well done. Loving the braids, girls.
:33:28. > :33:33.Carrie, Darline sing together so beautifully. They harmonise so well,
:33:34. > :33:37.what did you make of that I think you both have really beautiful
:33:38. > :33:41.voices. I think you are both stunningly beautiful. At the end you
:33:42. > :33:45.both looked at each other and did a total vibe with each other once the
:33:46. > :33:52.music had finished. I don't want to see two soloists. I want to see a
:33:53. > :33:56.duo who interact more. Apart from that you are brilliant soloists.
:33:57. > :34:01.AUDIENCE BOOS. Lovely, she is being constructive, guys. Jay, beautiful
:34:02. > :34:06.staging. What would you do for them? Stockholm? I think you want to
:34:07. > :34:12.enhance how beautiful it is. It won't be the first time a beautiful
:34:13. > :34:18.performance has won Eurovision. Like Carrie said, they need to connect as
:34:19. > :34:25.a group. I personally think they did. Katrina, do you think this type
:34:26. > :34:29.of music will go down well in Stockholm this year?
:34:30. > :34:41.CHEERING. That's a yes from our audience! Yeah? It sounds like it.
:34:42. > :34:46.If this song went through, this is the type of song other Europeans
:34:47. > :34:52.would vote for. Interesting. Girls, huddle up. If you think Darline has
:34:53. > :35:04.got what it takes to represent the UK you will need to call:
:35:05. > :35:11.Or vote online for free when the vote opens after we've seen
:35:12. > :35:16.everybody perform later in the show. I think they like you Darline.
:35:17. > :35:24.CHEERING. Please give it up for Darline! Thank you, girls. Off you
:35:25. > :35:31.go now. A bit bossy. Next up, let's find out about Karl William Lund,
:35:32. > :35:38.who is performing his self-penned song, Miracle. Something that
:35:39. > :35:42.started off as a hobby has now become a true passion. I started
:35:43. > :35:50.performing in bars around Liverpool, where I was living at the time. I
:35:51. > :35:55.started up loading videos on YouTube and I was getting 30,000 or 40,000
:35:56. > :36:01.views per video, quite a lot back then. So in 2012 I lived in Greece.
:36:02. > :36:06.I was working in a Beatles tribute band playing John Lennon. We lived
:36:07. > :36:13.in a complex with other singers and performers. There was a Tina Turner
:36:14. > :36:18.tribute act, The Drifters and The Supremes. I started lyrics. It was
:36:19. > :36:22.interesting between opportunity to put a song forward for this came
:36:23. > :36:28.about. Straight away I thought Miracle is right for this. I hope
:36:29. > :36:34.that people love it. There's a lyric in Miracle on the chorus that says,
:36:35. > :36:39.chasing down your star will never be the same again. I think what that
:36:40. > :36:43.means is I'm almost saying that my love and my admiration for you is
:36:44. > :36:49.now on a completely different level. I think that is the key to a good
:36:50. > :36:54.song, to put your own experience into that, but to write it in a way
:36:55. > :36:59.where it can touch other people as well. I hope that's what will make
:37:00. > :37:05.it a success. Let's go to Sweden! CHEERING. It's Karl William Lund
:37:06. > :37:10.with Miracle. # I feel you coming, miracle,
:37:11. > :37:47.oh oh # This life I'm living, beautiful,
:37:48. > :38:04.oh oh # I believe that I'll
:38:05. > :38:13.be there for life # Give up all your thoughts
:38:14. > :38:17.of luck # What you'll give, not you'll
:38:18. > :38:21.get back # This life I'm living, beautiful,
:38:22. > :39:25.oh oh # I believe that I'll be
:39:26. > :39:29.# I'll be there for life (Miracle, oh oh)
:39:30. > :39:34.# I'll be there for life (I feel you coming, miracle, oh oh)
:39:35. > :39:47.# A miracle (It's beautiful, oh oh)
:39:48. > :39:54.# You are (This life I'm living, beautiful, oh oh)
:39:55. > :40:22.Karl, the neatest suit in showbiz. And a little bit of Tom Hiddlestone
:40:23. > :40:27.going on there in those eyes. Lovely. Carrie Grant, what did you
:40:28. > :40:32.think of Karl's performance? Karl, that is the most solid performance
:40:33. > :40:37.we've seen tonight, the best singing we've heard tonight. You look great
:40:38. > :40:41.on camera and you've got loads of inner life. These are some of the
:40:42. > :40:46.qualities we were talking about us looking for earlier. Fantastic. Jay,
:40:47. > :40:50.how would you take what Karl did to that enormous stage in Stockholm? I
:40:51. > :40:55.think everyone saw here tonight that Karl takes you into his world. He
:40:56. > :41:02.makes the stage as small as he wants it to be. And everyone else feels
:41:03. > :41:06.it. You can enhance it in so many ways. You can only have six people
:41:07. > :41:13.on stage, with technology you can build it up. Katrina, like you, Karl
:41:14. > :41:17.so songwriter. He wrote this song himself. I did indeed. Do you think
:41:18. > :41:21.it makes a difference when you are singing a song if you have written
:41:22. > :41:25.it yourself in do you give it more passion, do you think? Yeah, sure.
:41:26. > :41:29.Karl has an emotional connection with the song and that comes
:41:30. > :41:34.through. I think we all felt it. Lovely. Thank you so much panel. If
:41:35. > :41:37.you think Karl's got what it takes to represent the UK, you'll need to
:41:38. > :41:49.call: Or vote online for free when the
:41:50. > :41:54.vote opens after we've seen everybody perform later in the show.
:41:55. > :42:03.Go crazy for Karl! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Well done,
:42:04. > :42:15.Karl. Bianca is up now with the song Shine A Little Light. Hopefully this
:42:16. > :42:22.will prove illuminating. I started off as a cellist. I was lucky. I got
:42:23. > :42:26.an Elton John scholarship to train in London. It was a huge part of my
:42:27. > :42:31.life for a really long time. Then I started singing. It was clear that
:42:32. > :42:38.was where my heart was, so this represents my time in the girl band.
:42:39. > :42:43.It was wonderful. We toured with Shakira, the black eyes peas. It was
:42:44. > :42:50.phenomenal. The producer who wrote the song, I've worked with him
:42:51. > :42:55.before and know him well. It was nice to be with a song that spoke to
:42:56. > :42:59.me straight away. The song is called Shine A Little Light. I really love
:43:00. > :43:07.this song, because it is so positive. The lyric that I'm writing
:43:08. > :43:12.down now is my favourite. It is I've been carrying a concrete heart, got
:43:13. > :43:17.me worrying there is no fire in the dying flame. I like the sentiment in
:43:18. > :43:21.it. Whatever has got you down, there is someone or something that picks
:43:22. > :43:25.you up and makes you feel better. I love songs like that which are
:43:26. > :43:33.optimistic and positive, because I think we need more of that in the
:43:34. > :43:37.world. For me to represent the UK in Eurovision would be incredible. I
:43:38. > :43:42.physically cannot put into words how exciting it would be. It is like a
:43:43. > :43:45.childhood dream come true. CHEERING. It's Bianca with Shine A
:43:46. > :43:50.Little Light. # But every time I reach out,
:43:51. > :43:56.the fingers burn # I've been carrying
:43:57. > :44:03.a concrete heart # Got me worrying there's just no
:44:04. > :44:10.fire in a dying flame # That's when you
:44:11. > :44:18.shine a little light # You keep burning
:44:19. > :44:27.bright so I can see # You shine a little light,
:44:28. > :44:47.shine a little light on me # I've been carrying
:44:48. > :44:59.a concrete heart # Got me worrying there's just no
:45:00. > :45:04.fire in a dying flame # That's when you shine a little
:45:05. > :45:13.light, shine a little light on me # You keep burning bright so I can
:45:14. > :45:25.see # You shine a little light,
:45:26. > :45:39.shine a little light on me # When there's no-one to hold on to
:45:40. > :45:50.# Shine a light # You shine a little light,
:45:51. > :46:01.shine a little light on me # You keep burning
:46:02. > :46:06.bright so I can see # You shine a little light,
:46:07. > :46:52.shine a little light on me Bianca, now, listen love, listen,
:46:53. > :46:58.don't trip over, don't trip over. I'm going to be your bridesmaid. I'm
:46:59. > :47:01.just going to hold this. If you get to Stockholm, there are a lot of
:47:02. > :47:05.wind machines. We don't want to see this getting caught in a wind
:47:06. > :47:10.machine and then ripping off the whole outfit! Bianca, well done,
:47:11. > :47:16.that was tremendous. Thank you so much. Well done. So, Jay, what did
:47:17. > :47:20.you think of that performance? You just can't fault that vocal. That
:47:21. > :47:24.vocal was insane. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:47:25. > :47:30.But I think she's got even more to give. I think she could give even
:47:31. > :47:33.more, even more, keep rising and rising, three months until
:47:34. > :47:35.Eurovision, and if this is our act, she will do us proud.
:47:36. > :47:42.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE . Carrick -- Carrie, have you got
:47:43. > :47:49.any more to say about the vocal performance? That was great, that's
:47:50. > :47:54.what we were waiting for, this is the type of song that can win! She's
:47:55. > :47:58.fantastic! They are cheering for Carrie now, they are cheering.
:47:59. > :48:06.Katrina, a big power ballad. Is this what we need for this year in
:48:07. > :48:15.Stockholm? I like the lyrics. The lyrics are great. Come on, Bianca,
:48:16. > :48:19.take is to Stockholm! Katrina is sounding a bit like Davos at the
:48:20. > :48:23.moment, there is something like a Dalek about her. We still love you,
:48:24. > :48:29.Katrina, whatever you say or do. Didn't hear any of that! If you
:48:30. > :48:30.think that Bianca has got what it takes to represent the UK, then you
:48:31. > :48:46.will need to call... You can vote online for free when
:48:47. > :48:49.the vote opens after we have seen everyone perform later in the show.
:48:50. > :48:56.Thank you so much to Bianca. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:48:57. > :49:02.Just helping, there we go, helping. Now, listen up. We are at song
:49:03. > :49:08.number six already. I can't believe it. Our final act is a pair of young
:49:09. > :49:16.lads, Joe and Jake, performing You're Not Alone. Let's hear more
:49:17. > :49:20.from them. I think the voice is a great stepping stone, singing in
:49:21. > :49:25.front of millions of people, a live audience, probably one of the best
:49:26. > :49:33.moments of my life to date. Yes, it was incredible. I do get chills when
:49:34. > :49:38.I see it. I was about to say the same thing. Me and Jake always got
:49:39. > :49:42.on when we were in the Voice, backstage and stuff we got on as
:49:43. > :49:46.mates and we have a similar music style. I work in with Joe, having
:49:47. > :49:50.good fun with what we are doing. It's nice to work with someone who
:49:51. > :49:56.is passionate about their music, like me. Do I look like that? The
:49:57. > :49:59.song we are singing is You're Not Alone and we personally love the
:50:00. > :50:02.song, love singing this song and the whole message behind it is about
:50:03. > :50:07.unity and love, really. Our favourite lyric is don't speak, your
:50:08. > :50:10.smile tells me all I need to know because the song is very energetic,
:50:11. > :50:20.it's nice to have a solid -- soft lyric in it. We had to fight for who
:50:21. > :50:24.would sing it. Jake got it. I got it. I think what people will like
:50:25. > :50:27.about the performance it's genuine. They will see that me and Joe enjoy
:50:28. > :50:32.performing the track and love what we are doing. Every moment in our
:50:33. > :50:36.musical career so far has built up to this and for us to get the chance
:50:37. > :50:40.to represent the UK would be a dream come true for us. It's Joe and Jake,
:50:41. > :50:46.with You're Not Alone. # Heartbeat, when you're not
:50:47. > :50:50.around it's beating slow. # And it's something that
:50:51. > :50:59.I've never known, oh-oh. # I'll be, I'll be the answer
:51:00. > :51:05.you've been waiting for. # I'll be the truth that you've
:51:06. > :51:13.been looking for, oh-oh. # You're not alone,
:51:14. > :51:16.we're in this together. # All that you want
:51:17. > :51:20.is right here forever. # And they don't need
:51:21. > :51:24.to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # And they don't
:51:25. > :51:28.need to know, oh-oh. # You're not alone,
:51:29. > :51:31.we're in this together. # All that you want,
:51:32. > :51:35.I'm right here forever. # And they don't need
:51:36. > :51:40.to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # And they don't
:51:41. > :51:44.need to know, oh-oh. # You're free, free to let go 'cos
:51:45. > :51:49.I'll be here for you. # And when you fall I'll
:51:50. > :51:59.be your parachute, oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm
:52:00. > :52:04.dancing in the sky, I, I. # You're not alone,
:52:05. > :52:16.we're in this together. # All that you want is right
:52:17. > :52:20.here forever. # And they don't need
:52:21. > :52:24.to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm
:52:25. > :52:34.dancing in the sky, I, I. # Don't speak, your smile
:52:35. > :52:49.tells me all I need to know. # Your eyes show me
:52:50. > :52:58.where I wanna go, oh-oh. # You're not alone, we're
:52:59. > :53:01.in this together. # All that you want
:53:02. > :53:04.is right here forever. # And they don't need
:53:05. > :53:09.to know-oh, oh-oh-oh. # I, I, I feel like I'm
:53:10. > :53:50.dancing in the sky, I, I. Well done. And our lovely panel are
:53:51. > :53:57.here just to give their opinions. It's you who are going to decide who
:53:58. > :54:00.is going to go to Stockholm. Now, these two Carrie, looked as if they
:54:01. > :54:03.were having a great time on stage together, didn't they? They
:54:04. > :54:08.certainly did. I think there's going to be a lot of young people voting
:54:09. > :54:11.for these guys tonight. You've got a lot of young fans out there,
:54:12. > :54:18.probably. They've got great stage presence haven't they, Jay? Or some
:54:19. > :54:23.stage presence, two lads having the time of their life, it looks great.
:54:24. > :54:28.Would you do a sort of Oxford one rips off the other was mac trousers
:54:29. > :54:33.or jacket or something? It's what the audience want to see! We might
:54:34. > :54:42.have to make it happen. Now, Katrina, you our -- are our high
:54:43. > :54:47.priestess of Eurovision. Would you think that these two are contenders
:54:48. > :54:57.for Stockholm? Yes, come on, we can't get the open -oh out of our
:54:58. > :55:03.head. It's very catchy. It's a winner. These guys are really cute,
:55:04. > :55:09.too. Come on, I want to take them home. They are indeed and Eurovision
:55:10. > :55:17.loves a duet, don't they? Carrie, wouldn't you say that's true? Do
:55:18. > :55:22.they? Eurovision love a duet. Thank you, thanks, panel. Now, if you
:55:23. > :55:25.think, thanks, guys, you are making me look slightly younger and
:55:26. > :55:30.definitely cooler. Let's keep this pose. Good. If you think that Joe
:55:31. > :55:32.and Jake have got what it takes to represent the UK, then you will need
:55:33. > :55:46.to call... Vote online for free, and the vote
:55:47. > :55:52.opens, my friends, very, very shortly. Thank you so much. Give
:55:53. > :55:57.them your love, Joel and Jake. Well done, guys.
:55:58. > :56:01.We've now seen all six of our talented hopefuls perform,
:56:02. > :56:03.but only one of them can go to Sweden.
:56:04. > :56:05.If you want to pick up the phone and vote
:56:06. > :56:07.for your favourite song, calls will cost 15p
:56:08. > :56:15.plus any network access charge and please ask the bill payer's
:56:16. > :56:20.plus any network access charge permission before you call.
:56:21. > :56:31.My daughters are at home, watching. I'm the bill payer, you can vote.

:56:48. > :56:53.now, as the vote is now... Open. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome
:56:54. > :56:59.your host... Hello, sailor, that was nice! The lines close in around 20
:57:00. > :57:03.minutes from now, so not long to catch that all-important vote. We
:57:04. > :57:05.live which means that if you are watching on demand, then
:57:06. > :57:09.unfortunately you have missed your chance. So please don't vote. If
:57:10. > :57:14.there's a song you really, really like, please don't assume everyone
:57:15. > :57:20.else will vote for it. You need to vote for it. Let's have a quick look
:57:21. > :57:21.back now at all of tonight's performances, complete with that
:57:22. > :58:06.all-important vote information. # everyday you make me want to be a
:58:07. > :58:26.a better man #. # It's beautiful, it's like I'm
:58:27. > :59:47.living... #. If you are at home arguing about
:59:48. > :00:03.what makes a winning song, we are so here to help. This is what makes
:00:04. > :00:05.outstanding performances. If your view of Eurovision looks something
:00:06. > :00:19.like this... Where have you been for the past few
:00:20. > :00:24.years? It's time to cast away those old cliches and look at how more
:00:25. > :00:29.recent acts have used not just the song but staging and style to win
:00:30. > :00:33.what is now the world's biggest live entertainment event. Norway had a
:00:34. > :00:39.landslide victory in 2009, achieving to date the highest ever score of
:00:40. > :00:46.the Eurovision Song Contest. The fact that instruments can only be
:00:47. > :00:51.mimed in Eurovision didn't stop Alexander Ryback from using it to
:00:52. > :00:55.good effect, along with some playful looks at the camera. He secured his
:00:56. > :01:22.victory with a whopping 380 points. In 2010 Germany's simplistic staging
:01:23. > :01:33.and modest pop song stood out in a sea of overcomplicated performances.
:01:34. > :01:42.Azerbaijan took total advantage of the contest's grand scale in 2011
:01:43. > :01:45.with a pyrotechnic curtain, full stage use and camera angles to
:01:46. > :01:57.stepped up production values. CHEERING. Meanwhile it was a

:03:02. > :03:12.And so we come to a performance style that's redefined the staging
:03:13. > :03:18.of Eurovision yet again. Again. Impeccable timing and phenomenal
:03:19. > :03:30.screen interaction with a character called Chalk Boy which became more
:03:31. > :03:35.famous than Mans helped Sweden win again. All you've got to do is
:03:36. > :03:42.choose the perfect staging, lighting and song and have an artist with
:03:43. > :03:44.amazing stage presence deliver it impeccably. We've got somebody who
:03:45. > :03:53.Now, we've got someone who did all of that.

:07:31. > :07:40.She's still got it! Wow! Katrina, that was a wonderful, wonderful
:07:41. > :07:45.performance. It still sounds as good and as fresh as ever. I can't
:07:46. > :07:52.believe it is 19 years since you sang that. Has the time just flown
:07:53. > :07:56.by? Didn't I sing it well when I was only 12 years old?
:07:57. > :08:02.LAUGHTER. And you still sing it well at 29. Katrina, I need to ask you
:08:03. > :08:07.and I think the gang here really need to know. Do you think we can do
:08:08. > :08:14.it in 2016? CHEERING. Everybody said in 1997
:08:15. > :08:19.that we couldn't win it because of political voting this, that and the
:08:20. > :08:24.other, but it is a croc. Of course we can and we should. We have
:08:25. > :08:30.everything we need to win it this year. Year. Everything. I believe
:08:31. > :08:36.everything Katrina says. She has the most intense blue eyes I have ever
:08:37. > :08:40.seen. I watched your performance from 1997 today actually, and you
:08:41. > :08:45.had the look when you went on stage that was focused as if to say, I'm
:08:46. > :08:51.going to go out there and win it. So what does our winning act have to to
:08:52. > :08:57.do when they get to Stockholm? Do exactly what I did. Do exactly the
:08:58. > :09:05.same thing. Just get that killer look. Thank you Katrina. Take note,
:09:06. > :09:11.guys. These are the wise words of our high priestess of Eurovision,
:09:12. > :09:16.Katrina. Thank you so much again for a top-notch performance Katrina and
:09:17. > :09:21.for your insight into the wonderful world of Eurovision. Now if that
:09:22. > :09:25.little trip down memory lane has made you hungry for another UK
:09:26. > :09:29.Eurovision winner, don't worry there is still time to vote. Don't leave
:09:30. > :09:34.me, Katrina. I need you to stay right here. Let's remind ourselves
:09:35. > :09:39.of tonight's six acts all desperate to represent the UK at Eurovision
:09:40. > :12:02.2016. You have about six minutes left to vote.
:12:03. > :12:15.Here is a con under Birmingham. What's the greatest Eurovision
:12:16. > :12:20.performance ever? For me it it was Sweet Dreams 1983. The truth is it
:12:21. > :12:26.wasn't the birth of Abba or the skirts being whipped off bucks fizz
:12:27. > :12:31.or even when Ireland sent Dustin the turkey. It was one man, Sir Terry
:12:32. > :12:42.Wogan. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. APPLAUSE..
:12:43. > :12:56.Hold it down to a dull roar. The rest of Europe thinks the British

:13:05. > :13:12.Mermaid and D death. This pair will kill you. Song one. 25 to go after
:13:13. > :13:16.this. Watch out for the lead singer. You will be able to tell what he had
:13:17. > :13:42.for breakfast! It's life, Jim, but what as we know
:13:43. > :13:45.it. Keep an eye out for the high priest of the Bongo. There is the
:13:46. > :14:00.fellow. The very nasty shock before she came
:14:01. > :14:10.on. Be in good cheer, we're nearly halfway through. You're going to
:14:11. > :14:18.like these. There they are. There's Silly and Spotty and Soppy and
:14:19. > :14:27.Saucy, the four Croatian Spice Girls. The girls are wearing just a
:14:28. > :14:39.few little things run up by their mothers. This girl will need the
:14:40. > :15:00.neck muscles of around Schwarzenegger to keep this up.
:15:01. > :15:13.You've had a few, haven't you, son? You look like Will and Grace, you
:15:14. > :15:17.do. Thanks for dressing up. I made a little mistake, six points, Croatia
:15:18. > :15:26.and Austria five points. Now, don't panic. Sorry, we have to start
:15:27. > :15:41.again. That's OK, you're fired. Ten points goes to... It's not easy,
:15:42. > :15:46.this. Bosnia-Herzegovina. Yes. Ake. 12 points goes to... Are you related
:15:47. > :16:02.to the Director-General of Swedish television? We wish you all the
:16:03. > :16:10.best, from all of us. Terry Wogan. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:16:11. > :16:14.Gone, but never forgotten. His legacy and the love of Eurovision
:16:15. > :16:20.that he inspired in so many of us will live on. Now, back to business
:16:21. > :16:28.full stop important news. The vote is now closed. That said, please
:16:29. > :16:35.don't try to vote now, as it won't count and you may still be charged.
:16:36. > :16:40.Lovely, lovely stuff of Sir Terry in that footage there. Carrie, you were
:16:41. > :16:44.an entrant at the Eurovision in 1983. What memories have you got of
:16:45. > :16:48.Sir Terry? You've got to remember these were the days when we only had
:16:49. > :16:53.about three or four TV channels, so he was a legend. He was a giant in
:16:54. > :16:57.our industry back in the days when they really were giants. He was the
:16:58. > :17:01.most encouraging man. Me and my band, I was only 17 at the time, he
:17:02. > :17:06.was so encouraging. I remember him in Munich, we spent a week with him
:17:07. > :17:11.singing on the dance floor going, oh my gosh, there's Terry Wogan damn
:17:12. > :17:21.thing in a discotheque. Adorable, a lovely man. -- damn thing in a
:17:22. > :17:25.discotheque. Katrina, you must have got to know Terry quite well? Toure
:17:26. > :17:29.was wonderful company, he knew how to mix a black velvet, champagne and
:17:30. > :17:34.Guinness, and he taught me how to smoke a bad cigar as well. Rock and

:17:41. > :17:41.they literally are, let's raise a glass.
:17:42. > :17:45.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE OK, it's going to take a moment to
:17:46. > :17:51.count and verify all the votes that have come in, but while we do that,
:17:52. > :17:56.have I got a little treat for you? Yes. Last year was the 60th
:17:57. > :17:59.anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, and we threw a big party,
:18:00. > :18:05.hosted by Graham Norton and Petra Mede. And starring some of the most
