0:06:50 > 0:06:53and decided he was going to run a free festival.
0:06:53 > 0:06:55She came down when she was about 19-20
0:06:55 > 0:07:00and she was a bit of a debutante figure, got into the flower power thing.
0:07:00 > 0:07:05And so she turned up with some money to help and she's been around here ever since.

0:40:05 > 0:40:09If we go back to 2000, it's been no secret that history shows
0:40:09 > 0:40:12there's been more and more people coming on to the site.

0:40:18 > 0:40:23And therefore, we had to do something this time to make sure we kept to the numbers on the license.

1:19:17 > 1:19:20Glastonbury's iconic Pyramid Stage has a history more mythical
1:19:20 > 1:19:22than even the most legendary performers
1:19:22 > 1:19:25who've trodden its sacred boards.
1:19:25 > 1:19:28Making its new-age debut at the festival in 1971,
1:19:28 > 1:19:32the original Pyramid Stage played host to the likes of Hawkwind,
1:19:32 > 1:19:34Traffic and David Bowie.
1:19:34 > 1:19:36Instrumental in organising that festival,
1:19:36 > 1:19:40and the man behind the stage's celestial design concept
1:19:40 > 1:19:42was Andrew Carr.
1:19:42 > 1:19:45We had a discussion about what the stage would look like,
1:19:45 > 1:19:51and the pyramid is sort of a symbol of the ancient wisdom.
1:19:51 > 1:19:55But it wasn't just the shape of the stage
1:19:55 > 1:19:59but also its positioning that was of huge importance to the hippie revellers.
1:19:59 > 1:20:02Now there's a ley line from Glastonbury
1:20:02 > 1:20:06to Stonehenge to Canterbury.
1:20:06 > 1:20:09And that line runs just behind the Pyramid.
1:20:09 > 1:20:13The stage was remodelled slightly in the early '80s,
1:20:13 > 1:20:17but despite the good vibes created by the Pyramid's karmic inheritance
1:20:17 > 1:20:20occasionally ley lines got crossed
1:20:20 > 1:20:23and it suffered the effects of negative energy.
1:20:23 > 1:20:28The Pyramid that I grew up with was the one which went up to 1994 and then burnt down.
1:20:28 > 1:20:32I remember looking out the bedroom window and I just saw the flames.
1:20:32 > 1:20:34And that was the worst moment for me.
1:20:34 > 1:20:37That was about two weeks before the festival started.
1:20:37 > 1:20:40Rising like a phoenix-thing from some of those ashes
1:20:40 > 1:20:43came a new Pyramid, which spiritually enhanced
1:20:43 > 1:20:46the festival experience into the new millennium.
1:20:49 > 1:20:52But whatever your thoughts about the Pyramid's mystical powers,
1:20:52 > 1:20:55it seems that setting foot on its hallowed boards
1:20:55 > 1:20:58can often transform a good band into a great one
1:20:58 > 1:21:02and a performance into a transcendental moment of pop history.

1:26:41 > 1:26:45so we had a lot of audience down there, so it was a good gig to do.

1:46:59 > 1:47:04Their son, William, was a big cheese maker. He made a cheese which
1:47:04 > 1:47:06actually went to South Wales for the miners.
1:47:06 > 1:47:11The general strike came about in 1926,
1:47:11 > 1:47:15when the miners weren't earning, so they couldn't buy the cheese, so we had to throw it all out.
1:47:15 > 1:47:20But I remember going down to the south of the village, which is called Bread Street,
1:47:20 > 1:47:23And he's holding me up, I was about four or something,
1:47:23 > 1:47:27he said, "This is the Prince of Wales," because I was the heir to the throne.
1:47:27 > 1:47:30I didn't know what he meant.
1:47:30 > 1:47:33But I obviously know now.
1:47:33 > 1:47:36But then he handed over to one of his sons, my father.
1:47:36 > 1:47:39And he's very easy going, very pleasant, very jovial,

1:47:43 > 1:47:48My mother was a hard working teacher and she had a good salary, that was really helpful.

1:48:10 > 1:48:15so I had to leave all that and come back and milk the cows myself,

1:48:23 > 1:48:26and I love that farm now, I really do.
1:48:26 > 1:48:30The farm is more important to me, long term, than the festival, it really is.
1:48:30 > 1:48:34My father and grandfather would be thrilled with the amount of milk we're producing.

1:52:51 > 1:52:54I do get incredible feedback when I go anywhere and people say,
