:00:28. > :00:31.Hello. Hello.Good afternoon. Welcome back to another beautiful

:00:31. > :00:36.sun-drenched day here at Glastonbury 2013. In fact, we're

:00:36. > :00:41.slightly squinting into the sun. are just a little. We're here up at

:00:41. > :00:46.the park for the final time in fact. If you look overt at our other

:00:46. > :00:52.position at the festival... Can you see us? We're underneath a massive

:00:52. > :00:56.fish. You can just see us - in our tree-top tiki vine we have going on

:00:56. > :01:00.here. The Stones have been and gone, but Glastonbury still very much

:01:00. > :01:05.here. A wonderful sweep across the site to give you the impression of

:01:05. > :01:08.the sheer size of it if you didn't already know. Sunday is a wonderful

:01:08. > :01:11.atmosphere especially when the weather is like this because it

:01:11. > :01:15.builds up to the Saturday night headliner, really excited, then a

:01:15. > :01:19.really kind of mellow atmosphere to Sunday, people just milling around

:01:19. > :01:23.and exploring. It's kind of like the pleasure is off. Everybody has

:01:23. > :01:27.either chosen to see the Rolling Stones or chosen not to see the

:01:27. > :01:30.Rolling Stones, and it diversifys again. People go off and explore.

:01:30. > :01:36.It is really as diverse as ever. Today we have ever from Smashing

:01:36. > :01:40.Pumpkins to Kenny Rogers. We're going from roots reggae to Bruce

:01:40. > :01:44.Forsyth on this programme. Wow. Is he going to be doing the rock

:01:44. > :01:47.steady? He might. We have Kenny Rogers. He's doing the legendary

:01:47. > :01:50.Sunday afternoon sing-ing a long here at Glastonbury on the Pyramid

:01:51. > :01:54.Stage. You can singing a long to his hits in the Sommer set sunshine.

:01:54. > :02:04.Lots to come over the next couple of hours, but let's see what has

:02:04. > :02:04.

:02:04. > :03:53.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 109 seconds

:03:53. > :03:58.# Get your rocks off All those different coloured pop

:03:58. > :04:03.shields back in the day. So yeah, if you have just tuned in and just

:04:03. > :04:09.joined us you have missed quite a bit, but don't worry, you can catch

:04:09. > :04:13.up online, bbc.co.uk/Glastonbury. You can watch all the performances

:04:13. > :04:21.again on iPlayer. We're going to go see a young man who has been the

:04:21. > :04:24.sound track to the summer. I saw him chatting to our BBC Three

:04:25. > :04:31.colleagues and told us his ideal headliner if he could bring anyone

:04:31. > :04:41.back would be Nick Democrat. It is Tom O'Dell live at Glastonbury.

:04:41. > :04:41.

:04:41. > :05:26.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 109 seconds

:05:26. > :05:31.I can feel you breathing with your hair on my skin as we lie here

:05:31. > :05:37.# I will pull up the sheets # When it's cold on your feet

:05:37. > :05:43.# Because you'll fall pack to sleep every time

:05:43. > :05:53.# Grow old with me # And I'll share all we see

:05:53. > :06:03.# And the best it could be # Just you and I

:06:03. > :06:07.

:06:08. > :06:17.# And our bodies will change # But we'll still be the same as we

:06:18. > :06:18.

:06:18. > :06:24.# We'll still sing our song? Won't our hearing is all gone

:06:24. > :06:31.# And our children # Have saw we were right

:06:31. > :06:41.# I say grow old with me # And I'll share all we see

:06:41. > :06:42.

:06:42. > :06:46.# And all the best it could be # Just you and I

:06:46. > :06:55.# And the hairs, they stand up # My feet start to thump

:06:55. > :06:56.# And the feeling of dreaming will rise #

:06:56. > :07:06.Glastonbury! APPLAUSE

:07:06. > :07:08.

:07:08. > :07:18.# I said you'll be the one # Who makes me hard, makes me

:07:18. > :07:18.

:07:18. > :07:22.strong # Makes me feel like I'm alive

:07:22. > :07:25.# Yeah, grow old with me # Let us share what we see

:07:25. > :07:30.# Oh, the best it could be # You and I

:07:30. > :07:40.# I say grow old with me # We'll share what we see

:07:40. > :07:52.

:07:52. > :07:56.# Oh, the best it could be That was Tom O'Dell at Glastonbury

:07:56. > :08:00.2013. Do you know what I really like? You say people have either

:08:00. > :08:04.decided to see the Stones or not. Yes. I think that's one of the

:08:04. > :08:11.great privileges of being at Glastonbury, when you've got one of

:08:11. > :08:15.the world's legendary bands on and you think, know what, I'm going to

:08:15. > :08:19.see someone else. Loads of people saw Public Enemy instead.

:08:19. > :08:24.Absolutely. They were fantastic. Chasing States had to crowd going

:08:24. > :08:28.wild I hear from the young people I know. A good choice. We've got lots

:08:28. > :08:34.of great acoustics, and First Aid Kit are coming in to sing for us in

:08:34. > :08:39.a bit but we have something very exciting. Indeed we have. We talked

:08:39. > :08:49.about the big Malian programme at Glastonbury this year. We have an

:08:49. > :08:49.

:08:49. > :13:32.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 109 seconds

:13:32. > :13:36.artist playing at the Pyramid Stage. awesome. Thank you very much.

:13:36. > :13:40.was smack, that. There was an awkward pause when we were

:13:40. > :13:46.wondering whether it was going to start, but boy, was that worth the

:13:46. > :13:52.wait! And that beaded ball thing had been fashioned from one of

:13:52. > :13:59.Keith Richard's earrings. Captain Jack, he was in great form last

:13:59. > :14:01.night. Yeah. Alarming slightly. But an macing. Speaking of alarming and

:14:01. > :14:10.amazing, Gemma is in the field discovering the delights of

:14:10. > :14:15.Glastonbury. Sorry. Glastonbury, Sunday afternoon, and we've all

:14:15. > :14:20.lost our minds, a place where the abnormal becomes quite the opposite.

:14:20. > :14:26.I am in the Green Peace Field, and it's snowing. They have recreated

:14:26. > :14:33.the arctic - just get out of my cosy tent. Hello. Hello. How are

:14:33. > :14:40.you? I'm all right. This is Ann Daniels, and she's a legend. She's

:14:40. > :14:44.an arctic explorer, a real live one. A real live arctic explorer. You're

:14:44. > :14:51.proper. Tell everyone about some of the amazing experiences you have

:14:51. > :14:54.had proper camping? Proper - I am so lucky. I have gone all the way

:14:54. > :15:00.across Antarctica from the south pole on land to the North Pole. We

:15:00. > :15:05.were the first women in the world to do both the North and South pole.

:15:05. > :15:07.Glastonbury must be a breeze. It's slightly different. In the

:15:07. > :15:14.Green Peace field there are hundreds of people whereas when

:15:14. > :15:17.you're in the North Pole, you see the same people for 18 days. What's

:15:17. > :15:25.the longest you have ever gone without a shower? A lot of people

:15:25. > :15:32.are moaning about three days. 8-0?-0. I am slightly bemused about

:15:32. > :15:38.the queues for the shower. Get dirty. I once did a trek, and I

:15:38. > :15:42.didn't know I could smell so bad. 70 days, and you could break my

:15:42. > :15:47.record. We have a polar bear, which you can all see - beautiful. Have

:15:47. > :15:52.you ever seen a real one? I have actually been stalked by a polar

:15:52. > :15:57.bear about this big for three days, and to be honest, I didn't feel as

:15:57. > :16:02.comfortable as I do now. Stalked by a polar bear? For three days,

:16:02. > :16:06.terrifying. Did it follow you around? No, it came to the tent,

:16:06. > :16:13.left for awhile, then every half an hour to an hour I would see him

:16:13. > :16:18.always to the north of me, and I was going north. They're incredible

:16:18. > :16:23.animals. History repeats itself! I'm going to chill out quite

:16:23. > :16:28.literally. Back over to you guys. I am a bit worried about Gemma. She

:16:28. > :16:36.doesn't look dressed for sub-zero. Thes. When she came out of the tent

:16:36. > :16:44.she looked alarmingly like Brian Blessed. Did they say that was a

:16:44. > :16:47.bipolar bear? She has gone 80 days without a shower, yet she was cold,

:16:47. > :16:52.not sweating. I was there the first day in the queue for the showers -

:16:52. > :16:55.how hot can you get, first day? Touch wood, we have stayed dry

:16:55. > :17:01.since. I think we're going to enjoy some sunshine sounds now,

:17:01. > :17:11.appropriately enough. Played this on 6 Music earlier because they're

:17:11. > :17:42.

:17:42. > :17:52.playing the Congos today? # Row, keep on rowing your boat

:17:52. > :17:59.

:17:59. > :18:06.# Row, fisherman, row # Millions of them

:18:06. > :18:16.# Lots of hungry belly pickney, they ashore

:18:16. > :18:52.

:18:52. > :18:57.# Millions of them # I'm stepping along the seashore

:18:57. > :19:07.# Hail, brother John, have you got any wenchman?

:19:07. > :19:18.

:19:18. > :19:25.# Yes, brother Peter, wenchman, sprat and mackaba #

:19:25. > :19:32.# Row, fisherman, row # Keep on rowing your boat

:19:32. > :19:42.# Brother-man, brother-man. # Row, fisherman, row

:19:42. > :19:46.

:19:46. > :19:50.# We've got to reach on higher grounds

:19:50. > :20:00.# Simon, Peter, James and John come ashore

:20:00. > :20:39.

:20:39. > :20:42.# To feed the hungry belly ones # Quaju Peg the collie man Sell the

:20:42. > :20:52.best collie in sea port town. Quaju Peg the collie man Have the best

:20:52. > :21:19.

:21:19. > :21:26.# United in the Congo, Africa # Yeah!

:21:26. > :21:32.# Raust Farai # Remember, if you drink, don't

:21:32. > :21:42.drive. Keep your eyes on the road. One love, one heart. Congos love

:21:42. > :21:42.

:21:42. > :22:26.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 109 seconds

:22:26. > :22:27.# Quaju Peg the collie man. # Sell the best collie in sea port

:22:37. > :22:47.

:22:47. > :22:51.# Have the best collie weed in town All right. We have another two

:22:51. > :23:01.minutes. We're going to do something else for you. All right.

:23:01. > :23:15.

:23:15. > :23:21.We have another two minutes. Oh, We have a little time, so we want

:23:21. > :23:30.to give you something. Love you. Love you. Love you a lot.

:23:30. > :23:33.Revolution. Yeah. So legends is an overused word at

:23:33. > :23:37.this festival, but reggae legends with strong and health and safety

:23:37. > :23:43.message and also delivering key online messages during songs. If

:23:43. > :23:49.you don't love that, you're basically dead inside. That was the

:23:49. > :23:54.Congos. You can't help but scank? It's like when you see a brass band

:23:54. > :24:00.on a bandstand you have to march in time. Gemma's beard was spectacular,

:24:00. > :24:03.but the white beerds in there were amazing. Which one was Kenny

:24:03. > :24:06.Rogers? You have to wait. We have got Kenny Rogers coming up for you

:24:07. > :24:10.later because it's Sunday, and it's Glastonbury Festival. That's the

:24:10. > :24:15.Kind of thing that happens. We're going to experience something

:24:15. > :24:20.completely different now. We're going to have on stage something

:24:20. > :24:30.from Villagers. Are you sure one of them wasn't? Kenny Rogers? He might

:29:57. > :30:06.

:30:06. > :30:11.incredible. There is something great about Sibling voices. Beach

:30:11. > :30:16.Boys, Everly Brothers, all kinds of things, but these two voices

:30:16. > :30:26.together - shivers down the spine every single time, so this is First

:33:59. > :34:04.APPLAUSE It's just a little piece of heaven,

:34:04. > :34:09.isn't it? I will take many special memories away from Glastonbury 2013,

:34:09. > :34:14.but none more than sitting ten feet away from First Aid Kit singing

:34:14. > :34:19.Emmylou, heavenly. Do you want me to wipe your eye with the

:34:19. > :34:23.microphone? I can do this. Thank you, ladies. Gorgeous. These

:34:23. > :34:29.afternoons are all about bringing you flavour of the massive range of

:34:29. > :34:33.stuff that's going on across the site. There's all sorts of things

:34:33. > :34:37.from cabaret to folk from circus skills to, well, Arcadia, which is

:34:37. > :34:41.a whole world of its own, which we might be checking out later. Right

:34:41. > :34:45.now - I mentioned the circus. Here's our Gemma, who is out

:34:45. > :34:49.exploring all sorts of things at the festival and is considering

:34:49. > :34:53.running away to join the circumstanceus at Glastonbury.

:34:53. > :34:59.Don't ask me what is going on because I don't really know. Um, I

:34:59. > :35:05.think I need to get out of this, guys. So one thing I can guarantee

:35:05. > :35:08.you is that Glastonbury is not all about the music. I am in the circus

:35:08. > :35:15.field where, frankly, your imagination might never recover. I

:35:15. > :35:22.have come across a pop-up circus, of course. It's Igor Rasputin's

:35:22. > :35:28.caravan of lost souls. Welcome to the circus field where we give you

:35:29. > :35:33.things to turn your mind, spur your soul, free your mind and let you go.

:35:33. > :35:36.Blimey. I am looking to join the circus. What do you think? We're

:35:36. > :35:41.looking for a glamorous assistant for the bed of nails later on.

:35:41. > :35:45.have to see what you guys do first. Do you know what? You need to take

:35:45. > :35:50.it away, ringmaster. Welcome to Glastonbury, 2013.

:35:50. > :35:55.APPLAUSE We are bringing you things to turn

:35:55. > :36:00.your mind, turn your stomach, free your spirit and lose your soul, so

:36:00. > :36:10.without further adieu, let's bring on something that'll avenge your

:36:10. > :37:16.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 109 seconds

:37:16. > :37:26.And now, ladies and gentlemen, the And now, ladies and gentlemen, the

:37:26. > :37:44.

:37:45. > :37:49.And now, ladies and gentlemen, the incredible periwinkle! Um, guys,

:37:49. > :37:59.I'm not coming back. I'm joining the circus. This is it. This is

:37:59. > :38:01.

:38:01. > :38:06.what I want from life. See you I worry about that girl. That's

:38:06. > :38:10.what she wants from life - that was scary. That made Tom Waites look

:38:10. > :38:20.like Kenny Rogers. Speaking of which, she is coming up. If you

:38:20. > :38:21.

:38:21. > :38:26.want to Tweet us it's hashtag glasto:

:38:26. > :38:31.Back off, Osmond, and enjoy the next act, which is slightly

:38:31. > :38:38.different to Kenny Rogers... have had Jagger and Mick - that

:38:38. > :38:41.group is Keith Richard's personal house staff. But someone else who

:38:41. > :38:44.has been an indelible presence in our lives. When we revisit it

:38:44. > :38:49.through the Punk Britannia programmes, all the things that

:35:08. > :35:18.the rain. Thank you, guys! 50 years in the biz, 120 million

:35:21. > :35:26.long-held dream to have her here. Maybe next year. We were a bit

:35:26. > :35:30.sketchy on words, but it was a creditable attempt. I liked Kenny

:35:30. > :35:36.actually, he's not changed at all, has he? No.I like the way his

:35:36. > :35:40.banter was and didn't seem he rehearsed, it seemed to be

:35:40. > :35:43.spontaneous. Stop swaying, he said. He's done acting, singing

:35:43. > :35:48.photography, he was a writer as well, very much an all-rounder and

:35:48. > :35:52.he's engaged with the world, which is wonderful to see. A memorable

:35:52. > :35:56.song catalogue, you know. It really worked. He worked the crowd. They

:35:56. > :36:01.were not going to get away without singing, he was going to make 'em

:36:01. > :36:07.sing along. So that was Kenny Rogers on the

:36:07. > :36:11.Pyramid Stage earlier. Immediately he came off, he was accosted by the

:36:11. > :36:15.fragrant iley. Tell me what it was like then? What had you heard about

:36:15. > :36:20.Glastonbury before you came here? was a little disappointed in the

:36:20. > :36:23.fact that it wasn't wet and muddy. I've seen some of the shots from

:36:23. > :36:27.earlier when people were rolling around in the mud, so I couldn't

:36:27. > :36:30.wait for that! But it was everything it was

:36:30. > :36:34.supposed to be and more. We had a great day. I think the people

:36:34. > :36:39.appreciated no rain and certainly I did. That's good. And did you watch

:36:39. > :36:42.the Rolling Stones last night? did. I thought they were awesome.

:36:42. > :36:46.Night-time is so much more dramatic, you can do so much more with the

:37:01. > :37:07.I was great five years ago. could move like that five years ago?

:37:07. > :37:10.I was running around stage five years ago doing that. I thoroughly

:37:14. > :37:18.before? Never. They are probably one of the few groups I haven't at least

:37:18. > :37:21.said hello to. You were on stage, talking about the crowd and the

:37:21. > :37:28.sing-along that you were anticipating, it didn't come at

:37:28. > :37:34.first, did it, you did Ruby Don't Take Your Love To Town? It's one of

:37:34. > :37:39.those songs. Wherever I go, that has a ring of flairty about it and then

:37:39. > :37:45.when you get into Coward of the County and lieu sell and Islands in

:37:45. > :37:49.the Stream and the Gambler, people love to song those. It's so much

:37:49. > :37:57.more fun for me. I'm more an entertainer than a singer and my

:37:57. > :38:03.goal is to break the barrier between me and the audience. It's hard to

:38:03. > :38:09.do. When they start singing, it breaks down the barrier.

:38:09. > :38:13.compared the crowd with a Moroccan crowd? They didn't sing along on

:38:13. > :38:16.Ruby, they sang it in Morocco and they don't speak English there. I

:38:16. > :38:23.was just teasing. We have Wimbledon going on here at the moment and you

:38:23. > :38:26.were a tennis buff in your day? an impulsive obsessive. I

:38:26. > :38:32.impulsively get involved in something and become obsessive about

:38:32. > :38:38.it. I play tennis eight hours a day every day, that's what I did, from

:38:38. > :38:42.the time I was about 38 until I was about 45 or 50. I just loved it. I

:39:46. > :39:50.do you follow Kenny Rogers? Tough act to follow, of course, but almost

:39:50. > :39:54.inevitably, it was left to Vampire Weekend to follow it. I mean, you

:39:54. > :39:57.know, they are probably going to collaborate at some stage. It's got

:39:57. > :40:03.to happen. People have been talking about it, speculating for a long

:47:17. > :47:20.when on the Pyramid Stage. That's the Stones' secret, they are

:47:20. > :47:25.different to everyone else because they follow Keith, not Charlie. The

:47:25. > :47:29.rest of the band is pay parentally the play-off Keith, that's how their

:47:34. > :47:39.have some live music from the Stones later in the programme. But not just

:47:40. > :47:46.yet. Speaking of Knights of the realm. This shows you the variety of

:47:47. > :47:51.things that you can see whilst wondering the vast glaze of

:47:51. > :48:01.Glastonbury. You could have seen Bruce Forsyth. Here is his journey

:48:01. > :48:05.

:48:05. > :48:12.It's quite amazing. It is another world. I've never experienced

:48:12. > :48:20.anything like it. All my life, I've waited for this. Nice to see you, to

:48:21. > :48:27.see you... Nice!This is real rock'n'roll. What the hell I'm doing

:48:27. > :48:32.here, I've no idea at all. I'm going to try to rock and I'm going to try

:48:32. > :48:37.to roll, but I don't know, I might roll over on the stage. That's what

:48:37. > :48:41.I might do. # And this is my moment

:48:49. > :48:59.for Sunday? The hot ticket, yes. I haven't been the hot ticket for a

:48:59. > :49:00.

:49:00. > :49:09.long time! I've got a routine organised where I

:49:09. > :49:13.tap dance sitting on a chair. Four guys from the audience will

:49:13. > :49:17.come up, we'll have a bit of fun from them. Did you all come from the

:49:17. > :49:27.car wash. I teach them how to do a top hat number.

:49:27. > :49:28.

:49:29. > :49:36.# And I trust that you... # Sound rather good, doesn't it?

:49:36. > :49:44.Legend. He knows how to work the crowd. He is a genius. How many

:49:44. > :49:49.all-round performers are there at 85? He's a national treasure. Pf

:49:49. > :49:53.It was an experience I've never had before. It's an experience I would

:49:53. > :50:03.love to have again because it was so wonderful. I was doing what I love

:50:03. > :50:04.

:50:04. > :50:10.to do. Didn't he do well... So, from Sir Mick last night to Sir

:50:10. > :50:14.Bruce today, quite appropriate actually, given the location here in

:50:14. > :50:19.the Vale of Avalon. We were just short of a round table and we'd be

:50:19. > :50:23.getting on quite well! Brucie, what a pro, got both catch phrases in,

:50:23. > :50:29.even in that short item. Of course he did, he knows what he's doing.

:50:29. > :50:32.Marvellous. Part of the tapestry in the variety of things that is on

:51:12. > :51:15.going to be back from 10 o'clock tonight where Mumford & Sons will be

:51:15. > :51:19.amongst the glorious things we bring you. We are going to finish off this

:51:19. > :51:29.programme with more of last night's headliners, the Rolling Stones. This

:51:29. > :51:31.

:51:31. > :51:38.was a song we didn't show you last night actually. The Stones' song,

:51:38. > :51:42.Factory Girl, they sang this and called it, Glastonbury Girl. .

:51:42. > :51:50.Came here last night, right, to Glastonbury, so came around, had a
