:00:10. > :00:12.This programme contains some strong language

:00:13. > :00:15.and scenes of repetitive flashing images

:00:16. > :00:31.Disclosure. Dolly Parton. Whoever I see, I will be glad to see them. I'm

:00:32. > :00:55.just going to do good to do my part. Good evening. Welcome to Glastonbury

:00:56. > :00:58.2014, or the year that Dolly came to Glastonbury, that's will be forever

:00:59. > :01:03.known. She is the name on everybody's list. No matter their

:01:04. > :01:07.age, whatever genre they're into, it's about Dolly. Today, it's all

:01:08. > :01:11.about one thing, it started with very, very ominous weather warnings,

:01:12. > :01:17.foreboding and it's turned out to be all right today. It's beautiful this

:01:18. > :01:21.evening. It's twinkling like fairy land as ever. If the weather had

:01:22. > :01:23.been a different pattern, there wouldn't be anything twinkling.

:01:24. > :01:27.There was no power on the site at all. We won't go on and on, but this

:01:28. > :01:30.afternoon, the weather reports were going to be dreadful, but it was a

:01:31. > :01:35.beautiful morning and afternoon. I saw Blondie at midday and there were

:01:36. > :01:40.200,000 Then all people. Of a sudden, the heavens opened and there

:01:41. > :01:45.was lightning, thunder, it was everywhere. All of a sudden we lost

:01:46. > :01:51.power. There was not one stage with any music for about an hour. It was

:01:52. > :01:56.very eerie. It was strange. Really strange atmosphere. I spent time in

:01:57. > :02:00.a tattoo parlour joining in the community singing going on there.

:02:01. > :02:05.People's spirits seemed to survive. It cleared up and we have got a

:02:06. > :02:07.beautiful evening. There was a wonderful rainbow, which you will

:02:08. > :02:11.see at some point, people taking photographs and filming it. An

:02:12. > :02:15.amazing rainbow after the storms had finished. It bodes very well for a

:02:16. > :02:21.vintage Glastonbury all over again. This is a welcome back quick show.

:02:22. > :02:27.Lily Allen later. And Lauren is on a hill, kind of over there.

:02:28. > :02:38.Hello, here I am, overlooking not only the festival site but the Vale

:02:39. > :02:41.of Avalon. You can see the Worthy farm cows nesting away from the

:02:42. > :02:46.noise. The weather was amazing today. When that storm was going on,

:02:47. > :02:49.I was chatting to Lars from Metallica and I got told off for

:02:50. > :02:55.asking if they had brought the thunder. He said, "We don't want

:02:56. > :03:01.your heavy metal cliches." But it was incredible. Was chatting in the

:03:02. > :03:05.BBC music teepee to my colleague Guy and Pete from Elbow as well. They

:03:06. > :03:10.were nervous about their gig on the Pyramid Stage. They were convinced

:03:11. > :03:18.that the weather was going to be terrible. Pete said, the BBC has

:03:19. > :03:24.told us the weather is going to be bad. And they believed the BBC. But

:03:25. > :03:29.the sun set was wonderful. It was a wonderful set. We have some of it

:03:30. > :03:47.for you now. This is Elbow live tonight.

:03:48. > :03:53.# Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid

:03:54. > :03:57.# I've been working on a cocktail called

:03:58. > :04:10.# Polishing a compass that I hold in my sleeve

:04:11. > :04:20.# Down comes him on sticks but then he kicks like a horse

:04:21. > :04:33.# There's a Chinese cigarette case and the rest you can keep

:04:34. > :04:39.# There's a hole in my neighbourhood

:04:40. > :04:46.# Down which of late I cannot help but fall

:04:47. > :04:49.# There's a hole in my neighbourhood

:04:50. > :05:18.# Down which of late I cannot help but fall

:05:19. > :05:26.# Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid

:05:27. > :05:44.# There's this whispering of jokers doing flesh by the pound

:05:45. > :05:49.# To a chorus of supposes from the little town hoods

:05:50. > :05:54.# There'll be twisted karaoke at the aniseed lounge

:05:55. > :05:59.# And I'll bring you further roses But it does you no good

:06:00. > :06:15.# Down which of late I cannot help but fall

:06:16. > :06:25.# Down which of late I cannot help but fall

:06:26. > :06:55.# Down which of late I cannot help but fall

:06:56. > :06:57.Let's hear you do this, Glastonbury.

:06:58. > :07:03.You are apparently the best choir in the world.

:07:04. > :07:49.# Mondays is for drinking to the seldom seen kid

:07:50. > :08:16.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Elbow were so nervous They real

:08:17. > :08:21.today. Ly well. He just went, I will never tire of saying this, "hello,

:08:22. > :08:28.Glastonbury". I like the lumber Jack look. Very beefy. Talking of beefy,

:08:29. > :08:32.I was sharing a drink with the Fisherman's Friends earlier on. They

:08:33. > :08:35.came on and the storm started and they did just two songs before the

:08:36. > :08:40.rain came through the roof of the tent.

:08:41. > :08:42.rain came through the roof of the came out into the crowd and

:08:43. > :08:45.serenaded them and moved There are around. Few bands that could have

:08:46. > :08:50.worked like that. It was meant to be. Yeah, yeah. Someone bringing a

:08:51. > :08:54.bit of glamour, because a lot of wellies today, but someone bringing

:08:55. > :08:57.a lot of glamour to the festival was lily Allen. Quite a few costume

:08:58. > :09:09.changes. Here she is this afternoon. # I suppose I should tell you

:09:10. > :09:13.what this bitch is thinking # You find me in the studio and not

:09:14. > :09:14.in the kitchen # I won't be bragging 'bout my cars

:09:15. > :09:18.or talking 'bout my chains # Don't need to shake my arse

:09:19. > :09:23.for you cos I've got a brain # If I told you about my sex life

:09:24. > :09:25.you'd call me a slut # Them boys be talking 'bout their

:09:26. > :09:29.bitches, no one's making a fuss # There's a glass ceiling to break,

:09:30. > :09:33.uh huh, there's money to make # And now it's time to speed it up

:09:34. > :09:38.cos I can't move at this pace # Sometimes it's hard

:09:39. > :09:41.to find the words to say # Forget your balls

:09:42. > :09:49.and grow a pair of tits # If you're not a size six,

:09:50. > :09:54.then you're not good-looking # It's hard, it's hard,

:09:55. > :09:56.it's hard out here for a bitch # It's hard for a bitch,

:09:57. > :10:00.for a bitch, for a bitch # It's hard for a bitch,

:10:01. > :10:05.for a bitch, for a bitch # If you're not a size six,

:10:06. > :10:17.then you're not good-looking # Well, you better be rich

:10:18. > :10:19.or be real good at cooking # You should probably lose some

:10:20. > :10:28.weight cos we can't see your bones # Forget your balls

:10:29. > :11:54.and grow a pair of tits # It's hard, it's hard,

:11:55. > :11:58.it's hard out here for a bitch # It's hard for a bitch,

:11:59. > :12:00.for a bitch, for a bitch # It's hard for a bitch,

:12:01. > :12:08.for a bitch, for a bitch # It's hard for a bitch,

:12:09. > :12:36.for a bitch, for a bitch # It's hard, it's hard out here

:12:37. > :12:41.for a bitch Is this afternoon. A bit of showmanship there. I love Lily

:12:42. > :12:46.Allen and I'm sure she will be pleased with that performance. At

:12:47. > :12:50.one point I think I caught a glimpse of her pants. I think so! That's the

:12:51. > :12:58.happening look this year, very much so, denim shorts and a La atore's --

:12:59. > :13:09.labrador's head. It's a big look to be rocking this year, the the dog

:13:10. > :13:12.head. First we will go and check out where Gemma is in a camp site

:13:13. > :13:18.somewhere. Hello, I'm on Pennards hill. It's

:13:19. > :13:22.lovely up here. The Arcadia weird spider thing is behind me. I've been

:13:23. > :13:26.having a rave up. I started to really think about the ecosystem of

:13:27. > :13:31.Glastonbury. It does mean staying in a tent for quite a few days. This is

:13:32. > :13:35.where you're going to feel really, really not jealous. I mean the

:13:36. > :13:40.politics of tent camping, where to put it - on a slope or not?

:13:41. > :13:44.Preferably not but you might not have a choice. How about near the

:13:45. > :13:49.loos, you want that in the night, but it might be stinky. I discovered

:13:50. > :13:58.in a moment of need that someone can erect a make mikeshift toilet and

:13:59. > :14:04.found -- erect a make mikeshift toilet and found a tent. We

:14:05. > :14:13.investigated all of this and more a few days ago when everyone arrived.

:14:14. > :14:20.Five, four, three, two, one... CHEERING

:14:21. > :14:23.This weekend, 170,000 are looking for their perfect home at

:14:24. > :14:29.Glastonbury festival and the race is on to find the perfect place to

:14:30. > :14:36.pitch. Location, location, location. Meet Dave, the camp site manager who

:14:37. > :14:40.helped pitchers find their ideal ao bode. -- abode. I wouldn't call us

:14:41. > :14:45.estate agents, but we know where the spaces are. We can point you in the

:14:46. > :14:51.right direction. The main hub of the festival is the Pyramid Stage. A tip

:14:52. > :14:56.for getting is to be at the gate first and first to put your tent

:14:57. > :15:03.It's tradition up. That we go there, so the sooner we get there, the

:15:04. > :15:12.better it will be. It's near the Pyramid Stage. It's down to the left

:15:13. > :15:20.there. It is a race, but a friendly one. Can you see everyone trying to

:15:21. > :15:36.knock each other over on the way? Yay. Here. This will do.

:15:37. > :15:40.Absolutely knackering. Although convenient for the Pyramid Stage,

:15:41. > :15:46.the busy activity of big ground isn't for everyone. For families we

:15:47. > :15:50.have an area here the meadow. The advantage of it being very close to

:15:51. > :15:56.the Kidz Field. So all the things are there for the kiddies. We've

:15:57. > :16:00.come to the family field, because we've come to Glastonbury with our

:16:01. > :16:05.three-year-old and I'm six months pregnant so it seemed like the best

:16:06. > :16:09.place to come. We pitched our tent quite close to the path because

:16:10. > :16:16.we've got a buggy and it's easier access. We're having a Glastonbury

:16:17. > :16:21.for our son, rather than us. I'm sure we'll have a great time but

:16:22. > :16:28.we're focussed on him. We've had a fair few fun Glastonburies. We have

:16:29. > :16:33.the ground to the south. Pennard Hill will be one of the first that

:16:34. > :16:40.actually fills up. It's mainly people who like a bit of hustle and

:16:41. > :16:44.bustle for a few It's the days. Most buzzing place. It's got a really

:16:45. > :16:49.good vibe, with lovely people. You get a beautiful view with the fairy

:16:50. > :16:55.lights. Late comers shouldn't expect to secure their first choice

:16:56. > :17:02.location. Pyramid Stage, we want to be there, near to that. This is the

:17:03. > :17:08.Pyramid Stage now, I think. Yeah? There's no point in walking into the

:17:09. > :17:12.main areas, especially if they're marked on a map because they will be

:17:13. > :17:21.full. Let's look over there and then maybe we go back. Down here? OK. And

:17:22. > :17:29.be prepared to make a small amount of space go a long way. Whether you

:17:30. > :17:34.choose to stay in spacious six-man tent or in a sleeping bag onned

:17:35. > :17:37.bored, one -- bag on the border, one thing is for sure - you're in

:17:38. > :17:46.Britain's best location this weekend.

:17:47. > :17:50.There you go, camping at Glastonbury. It looked blissful in

:17:51. > :17:55.that At that weather. Point, it did. There might be six inches of water

:17:56. > :17:59.in some of the tents now. We are in the luxury BBC dorma bungalow ski

:18:00. > :18:03.lodge on the hill, above the park stage. We're all right. I hope you

:18:04. > :18:07.like our surroundings here. There's been a lot of work going on. They

:18:08. > :18:13.finished the lighting about ten minutes before we went on air. Ten

:18:14. > :18:17.seconds! Everyone Everywhere you go, it's beautiful, there are random

:18:18. > :18:21.creatures on the roofs of stages and it's strange. That's a polar bear

:18:22. > :18:25.and rabbit. It's very weird. There are lots of these creatures around

:18:26. > :18:31.us now. That's nothing to do with the next thing that's happening. She

:18:32. > :18:35.performed with Rude yumental. You might -- Rudimental. This is Ela

:18:36. > :18:43.Aire. Here she is about to play for us now.

:18:44. > :18:57.# Cos you're wanting a little more

:18:58. > :19:59.# Can you hold out and let me do what I want?

:20:00. > :21:45.# Will you love me when I come back? #

:21:46. > :21:49.Great voice that. Was Ella Eyre, who is here today and tomorrow she's

:21:50. > :21:52.playing on the west holt stage. You might see more of her performance

:21:53. > :21:57.tomorrow. We're on the BBC covering all through the day and evening.

:21:58. > :22:03.It's on 6 Music, BBC Three and we're doing these BBC Two shows as well.

:22:04. > :22:08.Lots of music coming our way. Arcade Fire from 11 tonight. I'm glad

:22:09. > :22:16.they've left the piano, because I want to do a few from my new album.

:22:17. > :22:21.We have the surrounding area with people working to make the festival

:22:22. > :22:26.happen and welcome people here. We're calling these Glastonbury

:22:27. > :22:31.tales. We are going to hook up with the station master.

:22:32. > :22:38.# Good morning Mr Railroad man # What time does the train go by? #

:22:39. > :22:44.I'm Paul Mitchell. I'm one of the station staff here at CastleCarey.

:22:45. > :22:49.There's long times when there's not a lot happening, so plenty of time

:22:50. > :22:53.for looking after the flower beds. When Glastonbury comes around, we

:22:54. > :22:58.become the Clapham Junction of the south-west for just a few days each

:22:59. > :23:04.year, about 14,000 people will pass through this sleepy little station.

:23:05. > :23:09.I've lived here for over 30 years. I've never been - I'm not sure it's

:23:10. > :23:16.my type of music really - ABBA have never headlined I don't think?

:23:17. > :23:21.Working here is really an idyllic job. From an early age I thought I

:23:22. > :23:29.wanted to be a station master. Now I am. Train just arrived on platform

:23:30. > :23:33.two is the Glastonbury festival from London Paddington. Make your way to

:23:34. > :23:39.the bus that's will whisk you to the festival site to enjoy the likes of

:23:40. > :23:49.Metallica, Arcade Fire and Kasabian. Enjoy.

:23:50. > :23:54.This is really funny because that was very calm and beautiful. If you

:23:55. > :23:58.could see the carnage that is going on behind the camera right now,

:23:59. > :24:01.there are about 40 people running around trying to move things and

:24:02. > :24:06.mikeshift cows and goodness knows what. Scurrying, beavering away

:24:07. > :24:13.here. There are a lot of people working on this show, not that you'd

:24:14. > :24:19.know! It's extraordinary. I never tire of seeing these lights at

:24:20. > :24:24.night. It's like wonderland. Extraordinary fairy lights. Joining

:24:25. > :24:34.us this year on the telly is our friend Hugh. Welcome Hugh. He's out

:24:35. > :24:42.and about somewhere. Hello, yeah I'm by the side of the John Peel Stage.

:24:43. > :24:46.Lykke Li has just come off stage. I'm joined by Ricky Wilson from the

:24:47. > :24:50.Kaiser Chiefs. Hi Hugh. I can tell you're ready for this. When I came

:24:51. > :24:56.out here, I was kind of low, then Lykke Li has come off and I'm get

:24:57. > :25:02.thering now. I'm feeling ready now. I got on site about 11 today, the

:25:03. > :25:05.first band I saw, a surprise special guests, Kaiser Chiefs. You've had a

:25:06. > :25:10.busy day. It's been really busy today. It's more exciting. I haven't

:25:11. > :25:13.stopped. I'm really enjoying it. It's Glastonbury, it's all about -

:25:14. > :25:18.it's different, all the rules are off. Once you enter these gates, you

:25:19. > :25:21.can be anyone up want to be. That's what everyone is proving. They're

:25:22. > :25:22.all having a brilliant time. And they save up for the tickets and

:25:23. > :25:27.wait a year. Most they save up for the tickets and

:25:28. > :25:30.applied a year ago. So, like, it's a big build up.

:25:31. > :25:32.applied a year ago. So, like, it's a build up for them, it's a build up

:25:33. > :25:36.for us as well. This is our first, this morning was our first proper

:25:37. > :25:40.show in the UK since the album was number one. So we were stoked to see

:25:41. > :25:45.- because you don't know how it translates. You can sell a record

:25:46. > :25:49.and you get all the stats and that, but you don't know until you see

:25:50. > :25:53.people singing the words back to you whether you've connected. So many

:25:54. > :25:58.festival anthems from your band and the new songs as well. You did a

:25:59. > :26:01.Dolly Parton cover on Radio 2 this morning. We did. That was

:26:02. > :26:05.interesting. Ricky, have a great set tonight. Are we done? Yeah, that's

:26:06. > :26:09.it. You're about to go on. Kaiser Chiefs are on very soon. You'll be

:26:10. > :26:13.able to watch this set on BBC Three at 11pm. Now back to you Mark and

:26:14. > :26:18.Jo. Thanks Hugh. Thanks Ricky. He looks

:26:19. > :26:23.well these days. You have to say, he's shed half his body weight. Yeah

:26:24. > :26:29.it's funny seeing him on The One Show earlier on. Ricky was cringing

:26:30. > :26:33.watching that. Working super hard this year at Glastonbury. That's

:26:34. > :26:39.more or less it for this show. Can you get lost now. There's Arcade

:26:40. > :26:41.Fire from 11. Yes, someone here for the entire weekend, this is Mr Paolo

:26:42. > :27:00.Nutini. Enjoy this. # How was I to know you'd just come

:27:01. > :27:01.along? # Lips like they've been singing

:27:02. > :27:03.sexed up strawberry songs # She's the bass, she's the beat

:27:04. > :27:14.She's the rhythm, she's the band # Sly hands, spinning webs like

:27:15. > :27:39.silk # And I never heard the warning when

:27:40. > :27:42.I woke up this morning # She's my rock, she's my bud,

:27:43. > :27:49.she's tequila, she's a trip # I said the only way I win

:27:50. > :28:07.is the way I lose # And I never got the script

:28:08. > :28:11.I unzipped # Got a little bit wet up in my

:28:12. > :28:15.brain # She's your church,

:28:16. > :28:16.she's your sin # She's the oh

:28:17. > :28:26.She's the rain # She gets me silly

:28:27. > :28:44.She's like a trick on me # And in the climax she would scream

:28:45. > :28:52.with me # She gets me funny, she doesn't

:28:53. > :28:55.want none of my money # So I pour it over her like

:28:56. > :28:59.gasoline # Light a match and then I'm back

:29:00. > :29:04.in my teens # Me and super girl smoking my

:29:05. > :29:12.# Unload, reload Eyes back swinging

:29:13. > :29:17.# Sweet thing, knows things Jeff Beck sings

:29:18. > :29:22.# Roundhouse, going down Let's go!

:29:23. > :29:42.# Yeah, the girl, so fine You wanna scream. #
