:00:00. > :00:07.This programme contains some strong language
:00:08. > :00:08.and scenes of repetitive flashing images
:00:09. > :00:20.I like the one with the singing. # And it was all yellow. Favourite
:00:21. > :00:23.Coldplay song would be... Yellow. That was where it started. Magic.
:00:24. > :00:52.Crocs. Paradise, I like that one. Hello and welcome to the final night
:00:53. > :00:58.of Glastonbury 3016. We are the Coldplay fan club. There are only
:00:59. > :01:04.two Mike remembers, and that is why we are here. What is your favourite?
:01:05. > :01:11.Um, shiver. Mine is warning sign. Good evening, everybody. Coldplay of
:01:12. > :01:14.course are at 9.30 this evening, headlining the Pyramid Stage. It has
:01:15. > :01:20.been a great day, but the weather has not been the greatest. Never has
:01:21. > :01:26.a festival needed the rainbows and vibrancy and enthusiasm to bring of
:01:27. > :01:32.Coldplay to bring colour to the mud. Look at these shoes. I have lived
:01:33. > :01:36.it, baby. But it has been a good day, despite the drizzle. We have a
:01:37. > :01:40.lot coming up. We have a live acoustic, but first an artist who
:01:41. > :01:47.was playing on the Pyramid Stage. It is Back. This is new pollution. --
:01:48. > :02:09.Beck. # She's got the lily-white
:02:10. > :02:15.cavity crazes # She's got a carburetor
:02:16. > :02:18.tied to the moon # Pink eyes looking
:02:19. > :02:22.to the food of the ages # She's got a hand
:02:23. > :02:39.on a wheel of pain # She can talk to
:02:40. > :02:43.the mangling strangers # Throwing troubles
:02:44. > :02:50.to the dying embers # Like a whip-crack
:02:51. > :03:53.sending me shivers # She's the boat
:03:54. > :05:09.in a strip mine ocean That is Beck from the Pyramid Stage
:05:10. > :05:12.earlier today. And the set has included a David Bowie cover, for
:05:13. > :05:17.obvious reasons. Speaking of David Bowie... We have Gemma out there,
:05:18. > :05:23.with a different review to David Bowie. Tell us what is going on and
:05:24. > :05:26.who you are with. There has been a particular emotional element to
:05:27. > :05:30.Glastonbury this year, and that has a lot to do with the fact that we
:05:31. > :05:36.have lost so many musical icons. There have been many DJ tributes and
:05:37. > :05:40.covers of Prince. There is Lemmy from Motorhead represented on The
:05:41. > :05:47.Other Stage, and of course, we cannot forget one of our biggest
:05:48. > :05:51.losses of 2016, Bowie. And this lady has just created something
:05:52. > :05:59.spectacular so that we can remember him in a phenomenal light. Tell me
:06:00. > :06:01.about this. Well, I was talking with some home educational people in
:06:02. > :06:08.Brighton who needed a giant puppet to represent individuality of style,
:06:09. > :06:14.so between the three of us, we went, Bowie! And it gave me the
:06:15. > :06:21.opportunity. When he died, I am not the Uber fan I see all over
:06:22. > :06:26.Glastonbury, but to me, he was a constant through my life. And he
:06:27. > :06:30.also showed me how to be an individual, whether it was conscious
:06:31. > :06:40.or not. And I felt a real loss. It was like a bolt to the heart. And
:06:41. > :06:45.this was a labour of love. How have people reacted to this? It is so
:06:46. > :06:51.big. It has been awesome. The responses have been amazing,
:06:52. > :06:56.gobsmacking. They have had me going up and down, round and about. We
:06:57. > :07:03.have had tears, laughter and everything. Usually, I make things
:07:04. > :07:09.and I am used to people going, that's amazing and things like that.
:07:10. > :07:12.And that is great, but it has been overwhelming, because people have
:07:13. > :07:19.been coming up thanking me all over the place. Well, it's so beautiful.
:07:20. > :07:26.All weekend, we have been following the different tributes to David
:07:27. > :07:31.Bowie. Here is a little about that. -- a little film about that. For
:07:32. > :07:35.many, me included, David Bowie was a cultural icon and perhaps the
:07:36. > :07:40.greatest, most innovative British pop artist of them all. He provided
:07:41. > :07:44.his fans with the soundtrack to their lives, and this weekend, they
:07:45. > :07:48.have been out in force to celebrate him in their own special ways. It
:07:49. > :07:52.still hurts now when I think about it, that he has passed away. Do
:07:53. > :07:56.don't think there will ever be another David Bowie. There is no one
:07:57. > :08:00.better than Bowie. We have got to honour him at Glastonbury. I just
:08:01. > :08:06.wanted to create something for people to come along and sing along
:08:07. > :08:11.and celebrate his life. # With as a star man waiting in the
:08:12. > :08:16.sky. # He'd like to come and meet us but
:08:17. > :08:20.he thinks he'd blow our mind. The connection between David Bowie
:08:21. > :08:24.and the festival runs deep, and he even appeared that the very first
:08:25. > :08:31.one, the legendary Glastonbury Fayre. David Bowie played here first
:08:32. > :08:36.in anti-71. I think he went on stage at the break -- in 1971.
:08:37. > :08:43.He didn't have a vehicle, he just came with the guitar on his back,
:08:44. > :08:49.with lovely long and hippie clothes. He really looked the part. I didn't
:08:50. > :08:56.have a clue who he was. But I listened to him sing out for 30
:08:57. > :09:04.a.m.. -- at 4.30. Then he came back in
:09:05. > :09:09.2000 and did a storming set on the Pyramid. Probably one of the best
:09:10. > :09:17.things I have seen on the Pyramid. I have just written this one. That was
:09:18. > :09:21.the first time I played Glastonbury in 1971. Oh, Glastonbury!
:09:22. > :09:41.# Changes. Ch-ch-ch-changes.
:09:42. > :09:48.# Time may change me, I can't change time.
:09:49. > :09:52.A very special celebration of David Bowie at this year's festival took
:09:53. > :09:56.place last night in a thrilling performance of Philip Glass'
:09:57. > :10:07.Symphony in four, which was inspired by Bowie's 1977 album, Heroes. We
:10:08. > :10:11.are looking at Heroes, reimagined by another iconoclastic genius, Philip
:10:12. > :10:24.Glass. He was close to Bowie and was an enormous influence.
:10:25. > :10:31.We have been hearing groups all day, and this was a totally different
:10:32. > :10:37.feeling. I forget makes it more fitting for Bowie, because it had to
:10:38. > :10:44.be something unique. The hypnotic music was like a collective vigil.
:10:45. > :10:49.And this afternoon, even the security guards got in on the act,
:10:50. > :10:52.dancing along as part of a Star man flash mob on the Pyramid Stage,
:10:53. > :11:00.overlooked by Bowie's all seeing eye. The weekend's events have got
:11:01. > :11:04.me thinking about my favourite Bowie moment, and there are quite a few.
:11:05. > :11:08.But one of them has to be the conclusion of his final performance
:11:09. > :11:12.at Glastonbury, with his anthem, Heroes.
:11:13. > :11:23.# We could be heroes, just for one day.
:11:24. > :11:33.That is a hell of a song, it really is. It's very exciting, and very
:11:34. > :11:45.romantic. He was the bees knees in that sense.
:11:46. > :11:48.There have been some beautiful tributes, and none more beautiful
:11:49. > :11:52.than the one last night. I was watching the orchestra on the Park
:11:53. > :11:56.Stage last night. It was an incredible moment, straight after
:11:57. > :12:01.Adele. Everyone crowded up here. We are 15 minutes away from Coldplay
:12:02. > :12:05.taking to the Pyramid Stage. Lots of rumours, people gossiping about who
:12:06. > :12:09.might be joining them, maybe one of the Bee Gees. There were rumours
:12:10. > :12:12.that we are had been spotted at Glastonbury. I haven't seen her!
:12:13. > :12:21.This is it, things start and then it goes around the festival. We will
:12:22. > :12:25.find out what happens. Right now, we have Clara at the front of the
:12:26. > :12:32.Pyramid Stage. Maybe she has her own ideas. What is going on? Here we are
:12:33. > :12:38.again at the Pyramid Stage on Sunday evening at Glastonbury. The sun
:12:39. > :12:44.hasn't quite set, and we are feeling the energy again of the 150,000
:12:45. > :12:48.people, who I feel have all rushed forward to come and catch Will,
:12:49. > :12:55.Johnny, Guy and of course Chris on the stage. They will be with us in
:12:56. > :12:58.about 15 minutes, making what I think of their fourth appearance on
:12:59. > :13:05.the Pyramid Stage, first performing here in 1999 and with you again from
:13:06. > :13:10.9:30 p.m.. I like how Clara's hair looks like the Pyramid Stage as
:13:11. > :13:16.well! So in 15 minutes, we will bring you Coldplay live, closing
:13:17. > :13:19.Glastonbury 2016. Some acoustic performances now. The lady you are
:13:20. > :13:24.about to listen to have had a certain degree of success, but she
:13:25. > :13:28.was playing a place called bread and Roses, which is a tiny little pub.
:13:29. > :13:33.That was where she was spotted playing much the same way that Adele
:13:34. > :13:37.was playing in the Guardian tent years ago and then ended up playing
:13:38. > :13:52.on the Pyramid Stage. No pressure! We would love to hear from you.
:13:53. > :14:03.# And I was living in Hollywood. # Trying to make it, I know I could,
:14:04. > :14:09.when something is turned upside down, reached the top and I hit the
:14:10. > :14:19.ground. # And they said I would have to
:14:20. > :14:27.start on the walk of Fame. # And almost there, I got so far, I
:14:28. > :14:36.know who is to blame. # You said my skin was porcelain.
:14:37. > :14:50.# And I want fame like Marilyn. # Bury me in Azalea.
:14:51. > :15:03.# Now they call me Black Dahlia. # They call me Black Dahlia.
:15:04. > :15:17.# And I was living in Hollywood. # Working hard to get what I should.
:15:18. > :15:24.# Always at the silver screen. # I'd try my best to catch my dream.
:15:25. > :15:34.# And they said I would have a star on the walk of Fame.
:15:35. > :15:43.# And almost there, I got so far. # I know who is to blame.
:15:44. > :15:51.# You said my skin was porcelain. # And I want fame like Marilyn.
:15:52. > :16:05.# Bury me in Azalea. # Now they call me Black Dahlia.
:16:06. > :16:25.# They call me Black Dahlia. # I trusted you.
:16:26. > :16:33.# You lured me in. # And I sold my soul.
:16:34. > :16:43.# I thought I would win. # You said I would have a star on
:16:44. > :16:47.the walk of Fame. # Almost there, you know I got so
:16:48. > :16:57.far. # I know you're to blame.
:16:58. > :17:04.# You said my skin was porcelain. # I wanted fame like Marilyn.
:17:05. > :17:27.# Bury me in Azalea. # Now they call me Black Dahlia.
:17:28. > :17:40.# They call me Black Dahlia. # Old, oh.
:17:41. > :17:49.Aine Cahill, thank you so much for joining us. How was Thursday? It was
:17:50. > :17:52.one of the best experiences of my life, to be able to play at
:17:53. > :17:57.Glastonbury, and this is even better. One of the best things about
:17:58. > :18:03.Glastonbury is you will get new fans, did you get some sense of
:18:04. > :18:07.that? Yes, you could see as the performance went on, it started to
:18:08. > :18:12.build, which I was surprised about because we usually play with the
:18:13. > :18:15.full band and thought myself and the piano might not work for the
:18:16. > :18:20.festival but I was so delighted, just delighted! What have you
:18:21. > :18:25.enjoyed about the Festival? We watched a Dell last night. Just
:18:26. > :18:32.walking around and you will not even get to see all of it. Just being
:18:33. > :18:37.here, it is an experience in itself. And the amazing view behind us! That
:18:38. > :18:46.is what I said. All my God! You can see everything. The weather has set
:18:47. > :18:51.in! Coldplay coming up but we shall go to a woman who followed ELO this
:18:52. > :18:53.afternoon. Chibok an injection of pop and vitality to the festival.
:18:54. > :19:57.This is Ellie Goulding. # It's a little dirty how
:19:58. > :19:59.the whole thing started # I don't even really
:20:00. > :20:01.know what you intended # Thought that you were cute
:20:02. > :20:04.and you could make me jealous # Poured it down,
:20:05. > :20:06.so I poured it down # Next thing that I know I'm
:20:07. > :20:09.in the hotel with you # You were talking deep
:20:10. > :20:12.like it was mad love to you # You wanted my heart
:20:13. > :20:15.but I just liked your tattoos # Poured it down,
:20:16. > :20:17.so I poured it down # You don't mess with love,
:20:18. > :20:21.you mess with the truth # I always hear,
:20:22. > :20:48.always hear them talking # Talking 'bout a girl,
:20:49. > :20:51.'bout a girl with my name # Saying that I hurt you
:20:52. > :20:54.but I still don't get it # Wait,
:20:55. > :21:00.I could have really liked you # I'll bet, I'll bet that's why I
:21:01. > :21:03.keep on thinking 'bout you # It's a shame (shame),
:21:04. > :21:06.you said I was good # So I poured it down,
:21:07. > :21:09.so I poured it down # You don't mess with love,
:21:10. > :21:15.you mess with the truth # You got yourself
:21:16. > :21:52.in a dangerous zone # Cause we both have the fear,
:21:53. > :21:58.fear of being alone # You don't mess with love,
:21:59. > :22:04.you mess with the truth # And my heart don't understand it,
:22:05. > :23:07.understand it, understand it APPLAUSE.
:23:08. > :23:12.Thank you. That was Ellie Goulding. That is talk about your favourite
:23:13. > :23:18.parts? When I got here on Friday morning, I ran to the Other Stage
:23:19. > :23:21.because James were starting and I had them play on the issue of the
:23:22. > :23:26.week before and they were great. You worry when somebody opens up, how
:23:27. > :23:30.many people will be there but the field was full and it was the most
:23:31. > :23:34.superb set and then I saw Christine and the Queen 's so if you want to
:23:35. > :23:38.fall in love with the new act, that is everybody's favourite. Lots of
:23:39. > :23:45.people are talking about that. What about you? The one that would stick
:23:46. > :23:51.out so far is Fatboy Slim, yesterday, unbelievable, it was 30
:23:52. > :23:55.deep outside, it was a perfect set at 9pm and today, Catfish and the
:23:56. > :24:02.Bottlemen the bottle men, they are the headliners of the future. They
:24:03. > :24:08.were just one point. They just got it. Let us get better and this
:24:09. > :24:13.evening. We are few moments away from Coldplay headlining for the
:24:14. > :24:19.fourth time at the world's greatest festival. Here is a history of the
:24:20. > :24:25.band doing that. I don't know if anybody has ever heard of us, but we
:24:26. > :24:31.are called Coldplay! Yes, there was a time when some of us had not heard
:24:32. > :24:34.of Coldplay. Tonight we're on the cusp of Glastonbury folklore,
:24:35. > :24:38.preparing to headline the Pyramid Stage for a record-breaking fourth
:24:39. > :24:44.time. It is amazing we have got to headline this Ford times,
:24:45. > :24:48.incredible. Making their debut on the Other Stage into thousands, they
:24:49. > :24:55.had head but they were not yet superstar material. # Look at the
:24:56. > :24:58.stars... We might have looked like for students he had won a
:24:59. > :25:03.competition and in many ways that is what had happened! The first
:25:04. > :25:09.headline slot in 2000 and two was a huge leg up to the pop Premiership.
:25:10. > :25:13.We got called up really early and it was a big deal, the equivalent of
:25:14. > :25:18.scoring a goal and bubbly. The world watched in wonder, transfixed by the
:25:19. > :25:25.blinding set. Somebody said before we went on stage, but every do,
:25:26. > :25:32.don't stare at the laser! I could not help but! We came off stage with
:25:33. > :25:40.better eyesight! And I have some hair on my back but was gone! And in
:25:41. > :25:43.2005 when the rain and mud threatened to drench the spirit of
:25:44. > :25:50.Glastonbury, Coldplay knocked the weather or off the front page. Chris
:25:51. > :25:56.Martin Road and old to the magic that defines their favourite
:25:57. > :26:08.festival. # The weather does no harm... Michael Evers and the Worthy
:26:09. > :26:19.Farm! Is a macro give me mud, up to my knees... Such a special place to
:26:20. > :26:24.us, we loved that audience. # Every watcher for... In 2011 they
:26:25. > :26:29.headlined for a third time, setting the probe and light with a stage
:26:30. > :26:35.show but proved they had graduated into global rock icons. # Every
:26:36. > :26:43.teardrop... Tonight it will be a heroes welcome as a return to the
:26:44. > :26:51.West Country residence. Our home does appears for 360 Air two days a
:26:52. > :26:55.year, this is like on. -- 362. They have been on the road since March
:26:56. > :27:00.this year and now we bring them to you live on BBC Two. Headlining
:27:01. > :27:02.Glastonbury on this glorious Sunday evening, ladies and gentlemen, we
:27:03. > :28:07.give you... Coldplay! We all want to help one another. We
:28:08. > :28:13.want to live by each other's happiness, not misery, we don't want
:28:14. > :28:21.to hate and despise one another. This world can provide for everyone.
:28:22. > :28:25.Do not despair. The misery that is upon us is the passing of creed, the
:28:26. > :28:31.bitterness of men. The hate of men who will pass and dictators die and
:28:32. > :28:36.the Power they took from the people will be returned to the people. The
:28:37. > :28:51.kingdom of God is within man, not just one man... The people have the
:28:52. > :29:06.power. CHEERING AND APPLAUSE. Wonderful adventure...

:37:07. > :37:19.Good evening, everybody. Thank you for waiting for three days of rain
:37:20. > :37:23.and mud. We came here a bit scared about the state of the world, but to
:37:24. > :37:28.see the that Glastonbury makes me feel like people are great and
:37:29. > :37:32.together, can do wonderful things. Thank you for restoring my faith in
:37:33. > :37:35.the world. We are going to give it everything we have for you tonight

:08:07. > :08:10.all, Michael and Emily and all of us who get to play would like to thank
:08:11. > :08:14.you all for going through everything you're going through to make this is

:08:20. > :08:25.this festival. In fact, you know what, I don't want this to be the
:08:26. > :08:30.last song. Who is in charge of this festival? Is there anyone we can
:08:31. > :08:36.speak to to make this not the last song? Is there anyone we can speak
:08:37. > :08:45.to who is in charge? Can we speak to someone in charge, someone with some
:08:46. > :08:56.power? The perfect person, Michael. Can we do one more song, please? We
:08:57. > :09:00.will do one more song. And this is going to be special, everybody.

:14:47. > :15:06.Thank you, everybody. Have a safe journey home.
:15:07. > :16:06.Ending with that traditional Coldplay bow. I managed to sneak out
:16:07. > :16:09.when that was on and on that massive crowd I found my family and the time
:16:10. > :16:14.I spent with them sums up what Coldplay are about, having the time
:16:15. > :16:17.of their lives and make kids range from tiny too big and all-round
:16:18. > :16:23.everybody was singing to every song, having a wonderful time. That is
:16:24. > :16:27.what Coldplay are about, they got the tone of what is going on at the
:16:28. > :16:37.moment, it is all about love. That was wonderful. It was euphoric. I
:16:38. > :16:49.thought the tribute to Viola Beach was heartfelt. And who knew Coldplay
:16:50. > :17:00.could do disco! World champion onstage strumming! And everybody was
:17:01. > :17:04.singing. And Michael Evers. Some bel canto singing to finish. And a lot
:17:05. > :17:10.of the monitor equipment up before they went on and they have stolen
:17:11. > :17:19.some stuff from one of the BBC tents. And that is why we are here
:17:20. > :17:23.in this little dome! We are close to the Pyramid Stage. Under the
:17:24. > :17:30.crackling of the fireworks. We are here until midnight and we have if
:17:31. > :17:34.you things to show you. We will kick off with something from the Other
:17:35. > :17:46.Stage, they were headliners tonight, LCD Soundsystem.
:17:47. > :18:26.# Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house

:18:51. > :19:01.# Well, Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house
:19:02. > :19:07.# You got to set them up kid, set them up
:19:08. > :19:22.# Set them up up, ooh-ooh yeah
:19:23. > :19:25.# Well, Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house
:19:26. > :19:38.# There's every kid for miles at my house, my house
:19:39. > :19:45.# And the neighbors call the police?
:19:46. > :19:51.# There's a fist fight brewing at my house, my house?
:19:52. > :19:57.# Because the jocks can't get in the door

:21:23. > :21:30.# There's a freak out brewing in my house, my house
:21:31. > :21:39.# Cos Daft Punk is playing at my house, my house
:21:40. > :22:08.# Set them up up, ooh-ooh yeah
:22:09. > :22:13.# And never, never, never let them go
:22:14. > :22:47.APPLAUSE. Very atmospheric LCD Soundsystem.
:22:48. > :22:57.That was on the Other Stage. The alternative to Coldplay this
:22:58. > :23:03.evening. We have some Beck for you. And an acoustic set from John
:23:04. > :23:09.Taylor. We're still marooned on the stage on the hill. We came down the
:23:10. > :23:15.mudslide from that stage but she was stuck at the top. It has been a
:23:16. > :23:19.hectic weekend, it has been towering, when it is muddy, it has
:23:20. > :23:29.not rained much but whenever you cannot sit down and you are wading
:23:30. > :23:36.through this ankle-deep mud. We have been flown around in sedan chairs,
:23:37. > :23:42.obviously! These have come from wardrobe! I went to Earth, Wind and
:23:43. > :23:47.Fire and they have never worn a pair of wellies in their lives ever! They
:23:48. > :23:53.were pristine. Why are we wearing these? What are we doing here? They
:23:54. > :23:59.are at the West Holts stage! I felt sorry for them. The end of the
:24:00. > :24:07.Healing Fields is a good place to end up for the weekend to detox and
:24:08. > :24:15.James Maloney is out there. The final day of the festival, a little
:24:16. > :24:19.bit of rain and a little bit of mud, but what a festival. I started in
:24:20. > :24:29.Glastonbury time with Michael Labour's. And then last night,
:24:30. > :24:37.things got pretty wild. Today, I have come up to Greenfields for a
:24:38. > :24:40.cup of tea. In the midst of adversity and treacherous weather
:24:41. > :24:51.conditions, you have some clotted cream. Lovely! Home-made jam.
:24:52. > :25:00.Life-saver! How has business been? Weeded twice as many on Thursday and
:25:01. > :25:08.Friday as last year. 800 scones. That is a lot of scones and jam.
:25:09. > :25:17.Gallons of jam. Any sugar? I don't want to get a sugar high whenever I
:25:18. > :25:22.am trying to chill! Still warm! That hit the spot. I have come here to
:25:23. > :25:25.the healing Fields. Because my shoulders are a little bit tight.
:25:26. > :25:46.Can I have a massage? Ahh. But is great. Can you feel
:25:47. > :25:52.those knots? You are an expert in helping people to relax. What is a
:25:53. > :25:58.relaxing part of Glastonbury? I love green fields. I love being outside
:25:59. > :26:06.in the summer, you can always come here and find a nice place to just
:26:07. > :26:13.chill. There you go. You have just got that knot. I might have a little
:26:14. > :26:26.wonder, down here, to see what else is here.
:26:27. > :26:46.# I was born to be wild... # Never want to die! # Born to be wild! I
:26:47. > :26:51.have had a lovely couple tea and Rob dying, nice and relaxed but I was
:26:52. > :26:58.born to be wild so I am going to go back to the party down there.
:26:59. > :27:10.Nice one! In the healing Fields. Did he have the best time or Gemma? They
:27:11. > :27:18.had all of the fun! Out and about. Summary different faces. Huge crowds
:27:19. > :27:22.for Coldplay and Adele, born to be wild at the healing Fields. They
:27:23. > :27:26.have played in that stage and that was a completely different side of
:27:27. > :27:30.things. If you are watching and did not get the ticket, this will whet
:27:31. > :27:34.your appetite to come here in the future because is so much to and
:27:35. > :27:41.Explorer. There was a young man who came through BBC introducing in has
:27:42. > :27:44.had great success and it meant a lot to him to be here playing on the
:27:45. > :28:14.John Peel Stage. Please enjoy Jake Bugg.
:28:15. > :28:49.Visit macro try to keep it up late. # Never going to be the same.
:28:50. > :29:00.Just gimme the love Just gimme the love
:29:01. > :29:02.Shakes hard, turning out to get paid Bad times,
:29:03. > :29:04.sees the people real fake Pushing on her heart
:29:05. > :29:07.thats allready been made Coming up fast, cut glass the next take
:29:08. > :29:10.# Better put your sticker on cause you gonna break
:29:11. > :29:13.# Late nights make you walk sideways And now we're gonna party my way
:29:14. > :30:53.That was Jake Bugg. I like seeing him in that environment. Last year,
:30:54. > :31:00.he was quite exposed and had a big slot, but in that John Peel tent, it
:31:01. > :31:05.kind of works. A darker atmosphere. Moodier. So, we are sitting
:31:06. > :31:10.backstage under the shadow of the Pyramid Stage. Up the hill about two
:31:11. > :31:13.miles is the Park Stage. We are going to have a live session from
:31:14. > :31:16.Joanne Shaw Taylor, a blues guitarist is covered by Dave Stuart
:31:17. > :31:18.from the Eurythmics. She's put her time between Detroit and Michigan.
:31:19. > :31:59.Here she is. # When your name's
:32:00. > :33:30.already mud, honey # You ain't getting redeemed
:33:31. > :33:54.cos karma's intervened # No more running 'round town
:33:55. > :33:57.waving that blood money # Your name's long been mud,
:33:58. > :34:48.honey APPLAUSE AND CHEERING.
:34:49. > :34:52.Thank you, Joanne. What are the chances of that, being that good on
:34:53. > :34:57.the guitar and having a voice like that? She's amazing. Really good. If
:34:58. > :35:01.you are wondering why I keep looking at Mark intently, it is because
:35:02. > :35:04.somebody commented that I looked extraordinarily disinterested in
:35:05. > :35:08.everything you said, so I'm hanging on your every word. But think of
:35:09. > :35:15.something interesting to say! I am always amazed by how people plan
:35:16. > :35:21.ahead. During ELO, did you see that guy who had blown up a little Binny
:35:22. > :35:28.and was rowing across? To do that -- a little dinghy, I love that. I
:35:29. > :35:34.asked Jeff about that. When you are standing there on stage, did you see
:35:35. > :35:38.the dinghy? He went, yes, I saw that. And the puppets. He was
:35:39. > :35:42.obsessed with the puppets. Anyway, next to a performance that happened
:35:43. > :35:47.on the Park Stage, not far from where you just saw that acoustic.
:35:48. > :36:06.The headlines that came from Grimes. This is kill versus Maine.
:36:07. > :36:27.# I got in a fight, I was indisposed
:36:28. > :36:29.# I was in despite all the wicked prose
:36:30. > :36:32.# But I'm only a man and I do what I can
:36:33. > :36:35.# I got friends in high places, I get out for free
:36:36. > :36:38.# I got in a fight but they don't know me
:36:39. > :36:43.# 'Cause I'm only a man and I do what I can
:36:44. > :36:50.# Tell me I'm a mobster looking so precious, uh
:36:51. > :36:59.# You gave up being good when you declared a state of war
:37:00. > :37:09.# Eh, oh, don't behave, oh, don't behave, oh
:37:10. > :37:18.# 'Cause I'm only a man, do what I can, ooh-whoa-oh
:37:19. > :37:26.# 'Cause I'm only a man, do what I can
:37:27. > :37:31.# I did something bad, maybe I was wrong
:37:32. > :37:33.# Sometimes people say that I'm a big time bomb
:37:34. > :37:40.# But I'm only a man and I do what I can
:37:41. > :37:47.# Tell me I'm a mobster looking so precious, uh
:37:48. > :37:54.# Never more You gave up being good
:37:55. > :38:06.# Eh, oh, don't behave, oh, don't behave, oh
:38:07. > :38:16.# 'Cause I'm only a man, do what I can, ooh-whoa-oh
:38:17. > :38:31.# 'Cause I'm only a man, do what I can
:38:32. > :38:36.# 'Cause we can make 'em all a bit crazy
:38:37. > :38:38.# We can make 'em all right
:38:39. > :38:52.# I can't touch it, even though it's mine
:38:53. > :39:02.# Eh, oh, don't behave, oh, don't behave, oh
:39:03. > :39:13.# 'Cause I'm only a man, do what I can, ooh-whoa-oh
:39:14. > :39:22.# 'Cause I'm only a man, do what I can (do what I can)
:39:23. > :39:28.# Tell me I'm a mobster looking so precious, uh
:39:29. > :40:19.That was Grimes on the Park Stage. There were times at past festivals
:40:20. > :40:23.when you would walk past The Other Stage and no matter what time it
:40:24. > :40:26.was, there were always four moody people with fringes staring at
:40:27. > :40:34.effects pedals. Doesn't happen nowadays. Laura Mvula had some great
:40:35. > :40:38.dancers today. It sets them apart. When you go and see a band, you want
:40:39. > :40:44.to performance, something to feast your eyes on. This is a great event.
:40:45. > :40:49.Makes me feel wholly adequate, being completely unable to dance. Speak
:40:50. > :40:54.for yourself. You have got all the moves. I often interpret music
:40:55. > :40:59.through the medium of dance. Want to do it now? We have an audience. It
:41:00. > :41:04.is a bit late, everybody is winding down, let's leave it. Let's go and
:41:05. > :41:09.see Gemma instep. She is obviously having the time of her life. I think
:41:10. > :41:14.she is in Arcadia, which is of course where you have the best fun.
:41:15. > :41:18.In so many ways, Glastonbury has been more unforgettable than ever
:41:19. > :41:22.before, more special and more important. It is more than about the
:41:23. > :41:26.headliners, more than the party or the copious amounts of glitter you
:41:27. > :41:31.can put on yourself. It is about coming together, adding in the mud
:41:32. > :41:38.and enjoying yourself. My goodness, here we are at Arcadia, the Sunday
:41:39. > :41:42.night finale. It is infamous for its madness, it's industrialism, it's
:41:43. > :41:47.dancing. Basement Jack played here earlier. What a way to finish off an
:41:48. > :41:52.incredible festival one of the festivals on the planet if you ask
:41:53. > :41:58.me. Look at these guys! It hasn't been easy, but they are still here.
:41:59. > :42:02.The mud has been nuts, and they are hitting the party on a Sunday night.
:42:03. > :42:11.I have seen so much this year. My mind is blown to smithereens.
:42:12. > :42:16.You know what, Gemma's energy is the same as it was when we got here. I
:42:17. > :42:22.am losing my voice, but she has enough voice for all of us. She has
:42:23. > :42:25.such a vitality. She is lovely. I passed the family the other day who
:42:26. > :42:30.were talking about what they enjoyed. Their kid was about six and
:42:31. > :42:35.he was going, I really loved Arcadia and the big spider! How much would
:42:36. > :42:38.that blow your mind if you were a six-year-old kid? Talking about
:42:39. > :42:42.things blowing your mind, Beck was here earlier. So many people were
:42:43. > :43:02.clamouring to see what he had to offer.
:43:03. > :43:36.# Let the handcuffs slip off your wrists
:43:37. > :43:58.# Neptune's lips taste like fermented wine
:43:59. > :44:30.# Let the handcuffs slip off your wrists
:44:31. > :45:13.# Let the handcuffs slip off your wrists
:45:14. > :46:02.APPLAUSE. Melody, that was Sexx Laws and that
:46:03. > :46:13.was not The New Pollution, but it was Beck! Puku the cat dragged in!
:46:14. > :46:18.You wanted to see me? Well done! How does it feel straight after doing
:46:19. > :46:24.something like that? Just so happy. And grateful. It was quite
:46:25. > :46:31.emotional, more poignant than before and also joyous. Life is emotional.
:46:32. > :46:41.Did you mean to reflect that? I cannot help that. And the audience
:46:42. > :46:48.was so wonderful. Lovely. It is a mistake to interview me! What about
:46:49. > :46:57.Barry Gibb? I was impressed to see world champion swinging a disco
:46:58. > :47:05.number like him! Heeded! He did. I said three months ago, what do you
:47:06. > :47:12.think about this? Because Robert and Morris have gone, bring back the Bee
:47:13. > :47:17.Gees. They were like, well... And one week later they had learned at!
:47:18. > :47:29.Will you ever be able to hit the high notes like can? At his age? No!
:47:30. > :47:38.He was so sweet. He was like, I don't know if anybody is going to
:47:39. > :47:43.remember it! That made me happy. Daisy agreed to it straightaway?
:47:44. > :47:50.Button away that you would imagine, like some superstar, are you sure?
:47:51. > :47:54.Yes, we definitely do. And how did he feel when it was finished? I have
:47:55. > :48:02.not seen him since. Can we talk about Michael Evers? Added that idea
:48:03. > :48:07.came about? Is 80th birthday, I saw him doing that. And my frontman took
:48:08. > :48:15.over that. That is the end of Glastonbury! It was the entire
:48:16. > :48:20.thing! And he loves to sing! Karaoke and stuff! There is something
:48:21. > :48:26.freeing about a Sunday night. Maybe people are very -- the people who
:48:27. > :48:32.are cool have already gone! I was thinking about destiny, the thing
:48:33. > :48:43.you did for while the beach was very heartfelt. And in a way, they made
:48:44. > :48:49.it to the Pyramid Stage. -- Viola Beach. You never know what is
:48:50. > :48:54.coming. None of us do. And it was trying to reflect. That is how I am
:48:55. > :49:01.trying to live at the moment. What is nice is, all other family was
:49:02. > :49:10.here. We had to e-mail them to say, is this OK? And they came down. That
:49:11. > :49:19.bit made me like... I have never seen you so emotional! They were so
:49:20. > :49:24.young. And I have seen lots of bands like that. Will you play Glastonbury
:49:25. > :49:30.again? I think people probably need a break from us! Congratulations for
:49:31. > :49:40.tonight. It was fantastic! What is next? I think we're going to go
:49:41. > :49:46.to... Nathanial Ratliff? And the night sweats? Amazing last night,
:49:47. > :49:53.the man who did the song, he was wearing cotton trousers to hear, it
