:06:11. > :06:11.So
:06:11. > :06:11.So good.
:06:11. > :06:14.So good. Plan
:06:14. > :06:21.So good. Plan B earlier on the main stage. And he is here, hello, Plan
:06:21. > :06:25.B. How you doing? Very well. Are you all right? I am good. We are in
:06:25. > :06:29.your manor. Kind of, we were in east London. Was it good to play to
:06:29. > :06:34.your home crowd? Amazing, first time we ever had anything like this
:06:34. > :06:37.to this scale, know what I mean n the East End of London, it's great.
:06:37. > :06:42.To be part of the build-up to the Olympics as well, must be special
:06:42. > :06:48.to play this Festival. Obviously, that's a massive event. So, I don't
:06:48. > :06:53.know t felt right to be doing this at this point, obviously BBC, you
:06:53. > :06:56.know agreed with that as well, that's why we are here but for me
:06:56. > :07:00.personally, done the BBC Three documentary we were talking about
:07:00. > :07:04.and it felt like the right time in my life to give something back to
:07:04. > :07:09.my community, you know. You are properly serious about this, you
:07:09. > :07:13.don't want to just drop in and you want to make a difference. It's
:07:13. > :07:17.insincere otherwise. When I first came out as Plan B as the artist,
:07:17. > :07:23.my first record I was trying to get through to those kids that I felt
:07:23. > :07:28.that society was ignoring. Now people were listening to me, it
:07:28. > :07:33.feels like OK, this is the beginning of changing the way they
:07:33. > :07:37.think about themselves and the rest of the country thinks about them.
:07:37. > :07:42.And we can - I can only do that through kind of going into schools,
:07:42. > :07:48.working with young people, making them believe in themselves. A lot
:07:48. > :07:53.of them, 90% of them, all love music, into music and all in their
:07:53. > :07:56.own way, like writing lyrics and stuff. It was just about tapping
:07:56. > :08:01.into that, with the documentary anyway, tapping into that, showing
:08:02. > :08:07.them the hard work that goes into performing at an event like this or
:08:07. > :08:16.having this as a career. It's hard. Shall we see a bit of it, we have a
:08:16. > :08:25.At 15, Ben was excluded from school for throwing a chair at a teacher.
:08:25. > :08:30.12 years, man. A long time. arrived in 199. Do you remember I
:08:30. > :08:35.used to really try and wind me up. Do you remember the sick twisted
:08:36. > :08:40.stories. I hated your stories, I said it's revolting, but I gave it
:08:40. > :08:46.an A. I can't remember. Well, I can. I was going for shock tactics.
:08:46. > :08:51.were, it was all about about snot- encrusted... Nice! That was
:08:51. > :08:54.fascinating that documentary. saw a side of you was you being a
:08:54. > :08:59.teacher, and you had to really tell these kids off and get them into
:08:59. > :09:01.line because when they first saw you they were like oh, my God, it's
:09:02. > :09:06.Plan B and towards the end their interest went a little. Did you
:09:06. > :09:08.find it hard to do that? We spoke about this earlier, it's not
:09:08. > :09:13.actually telling them off is what they're used to, they're used to
:09:13. > :09:19.being told off and some of them they'll do things in order to get
:09:19. > :09:22.that side of you out. When somebody's showering them with love
:09:22. > :09:28.and encouragement and motivation they're not used to it. They look
:09:28. > :09:33.at you and they think what's your game? Why do you care? Into they
:09:33. > :09:40.try and test you, some of them. I guess they don't believe that what
:09:40. > :09:43.you are trying to give them or show them is real. Some of them try and
:09:43. > :09:47.get the reaction out of you that they're used to getting from other
:09:47. > :09:53.adults and actually the trick is not losing your temper, not judging
:09:53. > :09:55.them, not telling them off. It's by giving them even more love. Say
:09:55. > :09:59.listen, I am here for you and trying to do something positive
:09:59. > :10:02.with you and talking to them on a real level because if they don't
:10:02. > :10:06.take the opportunity that I am giving them, what have they got?
:10:06. > :10:10.That's the one thing, they know what they've got if they don't take
:10:10. > :10:14.up this chance. They don't know what they've got unless they do
:10:14. > :10:18.this. That's the great thing about having a dream and the problem with
:10:18. > :10:24.a lot of these kids, they're made to feel they're not aloud to have a
:10:24. > :10:28.dream, purely from the environment they've grown up in or come from.
:10:28. > :10:32.As a society, that's our fault, we make these kids believe they're not
:10:32. > :10:36.aloud to dream or be something. would love to look at some of your
:10:36. > :10:46.kids, they were down here on the Introducing Stage. Let's check them
:10:46. > :10:50.
:10:50. > :10:58.# It gets fun around here, # You don't want to come round here
:10:58. > :11:04.# You get spun round here # It's not fun around here
:11:04. > :11:07.#. One of my - those kids had done amazingly there, you set them up
:11:07. > :11:11.and sort of taught them all the bits and written a song with them
:11:11. > :11:13.and one thing they couldn't get past was performing in front of the
:11:14. > :11:17.girls, that was one of my favourite bits of the documentary. You went
:11:17. > :11:24.what's wrong? They got intimidated by the girls, that little hurdle.
:11:24. > :11:31.It shows how much power women have! That's it. Men rule the world. You
:11:31. > :11:36.know, we start wars, all those kind of things. I am intimidated by Fern
:11:36. > :11:42.all the time. But women run things really. That's it. You know, a girl
:11:42. > :11:46.can just cut you down to size and these girls are from east London,
:11:46. > :11:55.you know, they can hang with the boys. They can hold it up with
:11:55. > :11:59.their own. Yeah, that's one kind of hurdle. -- a hurdle the guys had to
:11:59. > :12:03.get over. But there's so many other things. It's amazing documentary. I
:12:03. > :12:08.urge to you watch it, it's on the iPlayer for another week, I think.
:12:08. > :12:11.It's proper good. Thank you, Plan B. Thanks for having me. It's great to
:12:11. > :12:21.see you. Let's catch up with more live music that happened today,
