:14:34. > :14:41.You've missed the starting gun Like D, default

:14:41. > :14:45.Django Django and their Django Django album. Now we're going to

:14:45. > :14:48.chat to a man over here that you have to have huge respect for

:14:48. > :14:56.because as well as being a successful musician, he's really

:14:56. > :14:57.broken into the world of film on his own terms. Now, let's welcome

:14:57. > :15:01.Plan B. APPLAUSE

:15:01. > :15:04.And one of the stars of the film. Nice to see you now. First of all,

:15:04. > :15:08.let's go back. What was the first film that you wanted to make?

:15:09. > :15:13.Because you have made this film now, but what was the first film?

:15:13. > :15:17.wrote a film in my head when I couldn't get to sleep. It was based

:15:17. > :15:22.on - my house got raided by police because the police thought we had a

:15:22. > :15:26.real gun. We had a toy gun. I wrote a film about it. I posted it to the

:15:26. > :15:33.film company. They said, we love it. We want to give you a budget of a

:15:33. > :15:38.million pounds. Great. Did you do it? No, because they asked who I

:15:38. > :15:44.wanted to direct it? I said me. I had to prove that I could direct. I

:15:44. > :15:49.took the last four grand I had from the recording in advance, put it

:15:49. > :15:52.into the pilot for the feature film I just shot. It's amazing because

:15:52. > :15:55.it's very difficult to make a feature film these days, and you

:15:55. > :15:59.have managed to do that what is the story of Ill Manors? It's six

:15:59. > :16:04.stories, isn't it, really? It's kind of like all the stuff you read

:16:04. > :16:08.in the newspaper, like, all the mindless crimes that happen for me

:16:08. > :16:12.that newspapers - they never write about why they happen, just that

:16:12. > :16:16.they happen. For me, I am always interested in getting to the root

:16:16. > :16:19.of the problem, not why someone committed a crime, but why their

:16:19. > :16:24.mind thinks in that way anyway, you know, what happened to them in the

:16:24. > :16:32.past, you know? A lot of our issues stem from our childhood, and Ill

:16:32. > :16:36.Manors kind of - it kind of - it definitely shows that. When you

:16:36. > :16:39.watch the film, we tell back stories going right back to when

:16:39. > :16:44.people are kids in the film. The only way we can do that is the

:16:44. > :16:48.musical element of it. Parts of the film are told through music videos.

:16:48. > :16:58.Let's have a look at a little bit of it, shall we?

:16:58. > :17:04.

:17:04. > :17:08.# Boy, I said boy # What you looking at? You little

:17:08. > :17:14.rich boy # Open the door

:17:14. > :17:24.# Don't come round here no more # You looking for a thrill

:17:24. > :17:29.

:17:29. > :17:33.Ill Manors - just a glimpse of that film there and quite a dark-looking

:17:33. > :17:36.film, but there is a positive side to it. I think if you can

:17:36. > :17:40.understand why negative things happen more, then it's easier to

:17:40. > :17:44.find a solution to prevent them in the future. I think if we don't

:17:44. > :17:48.educate ourselves about why things happen, then the only thing we can

:17:48. > :17:52.do to these people is punish them, you know? And we can't learn from

:17:52. > :17:59.it or make, you know, the younger generations learn from what they've

:17:59. > :18:06.done, you know? Where did you get the actors and the crew for all the

:18:06. > :18:12.film? Ed. Hey! Me and Ed - Ed actually got me into rapping. How

:18:12. > :18:16.long have we known each other? Three, four years. He started out

:18:16. > :18:22.me rapping. I knew he could do it, so I asked him. You went around to

:18:22. > :18:25.schools and got people to work as actors and on the crew. Yeah, I

:18:25. > :18:29.specifically targeted underprivileged kids in poorer

:18:29. > :18:33.schools because those were the kind of kids I was looking for. I was

:18:33. > :18:39.looking for 13 to 14-year-old kids. I needed the real deal. Some of the

:18:40. > :18:43.kids that didn't make it in the film - because not everybody has an

:18:43. > :18:48.obvious talent in acting. There are other things they could do. We gave

:18:48. > :18:52.them runner jobs. By making the film, they have a greater sense of

:18:52. > :18:55.purpose. And to get an opportunity to get an understanding of a

:18:55. > :19:01.different sort of world. As well as being the writer and director of

:19:01. > :19:06.the film, you're starring in a film yourself - a remake - or a feture

:19:06. > :19:16.film of the Sweeney. It's a proper London gangster film, isn't it?

:19:16. > :19:17.

:19:17. > :19:22.Yeah, it's Nick Love's version of the Sweeney. It's me and Nick. He's

:19:22. > :19:28.an idol of mine. He took me under his wing. Do you go screaming

:19:28. > :19:33.around London in Grenadas? we're driving a Focus. Not a

:19:34. > :19:38.Woolsly or a Grenada? No, that was the thing. I think we would have

:19:38. > :19:42.shot ourselves in the foot if we tried to set it in the '70s. I

:19:42. > :19:46.think it was the right move... Thank you very much for joining us,

:19:46. > :19:54.and Ed. We look forward to seeing you in a moment. Thank you very

:19:54. > :20:04.much, Plan B. And now so delighted to have back in this room the

:20:04. > :20:26.

:20:26. > :20:36.sensational talent that is Melody # The felicidad

:20:36. > :20:50.

:20:50. > :21:00.# And if in the world # Mira

:21:00. > :21:09.

:21:09. > :21:19.# In all that I've seen # In every smile there's a trace

:21:19. > :21:19.

:21:19. > :22:16.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:22:16. > :22:26.# Mira, this is such a lovely way # Mira, this is such a lovely way

:22:26. > :22:26.

:22:26. > :24:52.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:24:52. > :24:57.Absolutely fantastic, the marvellous Melody Gardot. We'll be

:24:57. > :25:02.hearing more from her Absence album later, and now also incredible

:25:02. > :25:06.guest - one of the greatest singers of all time, yes, who stayed at the

:25:06. > :25:12.top of music because he's always reinventing and finding something

:25:13. > :25:16.new. I am delighted now to record a man who is about to have a superb

:25:16. > :25:26.new record come out. Please welcome the wonderful Tom Jones.

:25:26. > :25:42.

:25:42. > :25:45.# Well, my friends are gone # I ache in the places

:25:45. > :25:51.# And I'm crazy for love But I'm not coming on

:25:51. > :26:01.# I'm just paying my rent every day Oh, in the Tower of Song

:26:01. > :26:01.

:26:01. > :26:07.# I said to Hank Williams How lonely does it get?

:26:07. > :26:12.# Hank Williams hasn't answered me yet

:26:12. > :26:17.# But I hear him coughing all night long

:26:17. > :26:27.# A hundred floors above me In the Tower of Song

:26:27. > :26:27.

:26:27. > :26:31.# I was born like this I had no choice

:26:31. > :26:36.# I was born with the gift of a golden voice

:26:36. > :26:41.# And 27 angels from the great beyond

:26:42. > :26:46.# They tied me to this stage right here

:26:46. > :26:51.# In the Tower of Song

:26:51. > :26:55.# So you can stick your little pins in that voodoo doll

:26:55. > :27:00.# I'm very sorry, baby Doesn't look like me at all

:27:00. > :27:08.# I'm standing by the window Where the light is strong

:27:08. > :27:17.# They don't let women kill you Not here in the Tower of Song

:27:17. > :27:27.# Now you can say that I've grown bitter

:27:27. > :27:42.

:27:42. > :27:46.# Now you can say that I've grown bitter

:27:46. > :27:48.# But of this you may be sure

:27:48. > :27:49.# The rich have got their channels in the bedrooms of the poor

:27:49. > :27:52.# And there's a mighty judgement coming, baby

:27:52. > :27:58.# But I may be wrongYou see, you hear these funny voices

:27:58. > :28:07.# In the Tower of Song

:28:08. > :28:10.# I see you standing on the other side

:28:10. > :28:13.# I don't know how the river got so wide

:28:13. > :28:22.# I loved you baby, way back when

:28:39. > :28:43.# I bid you farewell I don't know when I'll be back

:28:43. > :28:45.# They're moving us tomorrow to that tower down the track

:28:45. > :28:50.# And you'll be hearing from me Baby, long after I'm gone
