:18:04. > :18:08.

:18:08. > :18:13.Great to have you here. I've got the lot here. It is nice

:18:13. > :18:22.to have somebody who has a record. Can I get it out and smell it?

:18:22. > :18:27.have not seen this. I don't think any of us have. Oh, vinyl! Have a

:18:27. > :18:34.sniff of this! That is a nice quality piece of vinyl. People can

:18:34. > :18:40.see it, smell it, live it. It is the first record for 16 years. Why?

:18:40. > :18:43.What inspired you to make it after all this time - 16 years - why?

:18:43. > :18:47.discussed having a long history of recordings and albums and fans we

:18:47. > :18:54.were not in touch with. It was our responsible to go out there and

:18:54. > :18:59.reconnect with them. In that process, we decided, it is the most

:18:59. > :19:08.fun thing, but since... Making new music is the most fun thing. There

:19:08. > :19:11.are a lot of skulls here. And snow:. Correct me if I am wrong, but the

:19:11. > :19:17.ancient Greeks would hang these on the buildings of the wooden temples

:19:17. > :19:22.to ward off evil spirits. Is that what you were doing here? Exactly.

:19:22. > :19:29.It is a great record. You are playing back together, do you have

:19:29. > :19:35.a different atmosphere together after all this time? It makes 15

:19:35. > :19:39.years seem like not that long. Music seems to transcend time, when

:19:39. > :19:44.we are rehearsing a song we have not played in 25 years and we are

:19:44. > :19:48.listening to the radio and why we arrange it that way and you

:19:48. > :19:52.remember the room we were standing in and the discussion we were

:19:52. > :19:59.having. What made you want to start in the first place? What made you

:19:59. > :20:03.think, right I have to do music? are all big fans of music. I, for

:20:03. > :20:07.one, believed if I was good enough and into music as a musician and

:20:07. > :20:12.writer that the best band in the world would show up and beg me to

:20:12. > :20:20.be in their band and that didn't happen. So you had to get there.

:20:20. > :20:29.we had to invent our dream band and that's Soundgarden. You have done a

:20:29. > :20:33.superb job of it. Others all coming from Seattle - is that an important

:20:33. > :20:38.part of the city - did that play an important part in creating your

:20:38. > :20:45.sound and what you were about? think we were part of a bigger

:20:45. > :20:49.picture, which was the Indy scene, it was in the US, the UK, Australia,

:20:49. > :20:55.Canada. That is what we wanted to participate in and all our friends

:20:55. > :21:03.wanted to be part of that same thing. It is how it started out.

:21:03. > :21:07.Johnnie Cash did one of your songs, Rusty Cage. Did you meet him?

:21:07. > :21:12.was terrifying. He seemed to be 11 feet tall when he spoke. He had a

:21:12. > :21:16.very deep voice. He was a gentleman, a very sweet person, but I was

:21:16. > :21:22.afraid. Fantastic! He loved that song, he must have loved it to do

:21:22. > :21:30.it. He was great. He is almost part of the unique, special club of

:21:30. > :21:40.people who have recorded a James Bond theme, which is casino Royale.

:21:40. > :21:40.

:21:40. > :21:50.Were you a fan before that? I was a huge ShaunConnery fan and a huge

:21:50. > :21:51.

:21:51. > :22:01.fan of Paul McCartney, Live And Let Die. Did you know where the 007

:22:01. > :22:09.comes from? No. Well Ian Flemming lived in Kent and the bus, from

:22:09. > :22:16.Dover to London or Deal was 007. Is that true? As far as anything,

:22:16. > :22:23.truish. Do you have any tools you take with you? Just a respirator.

:22:23. > :22:31.Are there any gad goats you would like? The Aston -- any gadgets you

:22:31. > :22:36.would like to have? The Aston Martin. I wanted it when I wrote

:22:36. > :22:39.Martin. I wanted it when I wrote the song. It has been great having

:22:39. > :22:49.you here. The band is sounding marvellous. Thank you for joining

:22:49. > :22:53.

:22:53. > :22:57.D we will look forward to hearing Soundgarden in a moment. Now, let's

:22:57. > :23:02.momentarily discuss harmonies, harmonies, which can always be the

:23:02. > :23:12.sweetest, ladies and gentlemen. We welcome The Staves.

:37:53. > :37:58.Thank you Soundgarden. Before that we enjoyed Bhi Bhiman.

:37:58. > :38:03.And now, over at the piano, one of France's greatest artists, she has

:38:03. > :38:08.just played at the Albert Hall last week. She has done a marvellous

:38:08. > :38:12.record. I am delighted she is here, Patricia Kaas.

:38:12. > :38:16.Welcome to the show. Fantastic that Welcome to the show. Fantastic that

:38:16. > :38:21.you are here. , now we have this marvellous CD

:38:21. > :38:25.here. You are hugely successful all around the world, which is

:38:25. > :38:30.fantastic for a French-speaking artist. Was music a part of your

:38:30. > :38:36.upbringing? Were your parents very musical? Not really. My father

:38:36. > :38:40.liked to dance, but not a musician. What got you into the whole thing?

:38:40. > :38:50.Listen to records, sing in front of a mirror and then suddenly you wish

:38:50. > :38:53.

:38:53. > :38:58.to be on a stage. And never looked back. You made this album of Edith

:38:58. > :39:07.Piaf. When did you first hear her? Maybe I was ten, because you had to

:39:07. > :39:11.sing a song of Piaf. I was more interested in Piaf when

:39:11. > :39:16.they tried to compare me to her because I wanted to understand. I

:39:16. > :39:22.think it's, to understand her music, you need to have an experience of

:39:22. > :39:28.life and knowing sadness and difficulties and.... It is like the

:39:28. > :39:31.blues music. It is like poetry, but it is grown up music, somebody who

:39:32. > :39:36.has lived a life. Of course you can listen to it when you are younger,

:39:36. > :39:42.but I think you understand it better. Also I, when I sang it,

:39:42. > :39:46.when I was younger, it was much different. Now I don't need to

:39:46. > :39:52.think about the emotions and everything, I just think, because I

:39:52. > :39:56.have more experience. In a moment, we're are going to do a song she

:39:56. > :40:03.wrote, which is Hymne A L'Amour. What is that song about? It's the

:40:03. > :40:10.end of love. Nothing can happen. Even God can't separate us - we'll

:40:10. > :40:15.be always together. It doesn't matter what happens. Yeah. I will

:40:15. > :40:21.introduce somebody over there and then I will be back hear and then I

:40:21. > :40:27.look forward to have an Edith Piaf song with Patricia Kaas, ladies and

:40:27. > :40:37.gentlemen. And now, let's enjoy, once again that chart-topping
