:08:31. > :08:35.next artist, just hold it there a moment, her first record came out in

:08:36. > :08:39.2010, but it's not until now that we've had her on the show. She has a

:09:29. > :09:34.# A little loving like Valium. # I need somebody to knock me out I

:09:35. > :09:39.need some loving like. # Ooh, I don't know what I'm running

:09:40. > :09:43.from. # But when the sun comes up it won't

:09:44. > :09:49.be wrong. # I need some loving like Valium.

:09:50. > :09:56.# I need some loving like. # It's 5am, all on my own.

:09:57. > :09:59.# I just need someone to talk with me.

:10:00. > :10:03.# I lost my friends, I check my phone.

:10:04. > :10:06.# Still searching for someone to walk with me.

:10:07. > :10:11.# My demons rise, they take their place.

:10:12. > :10:14.# All of a sudden this don't feel right.

:10:15. > :10:20.# I wish I had a pure embrace to keep me warm until the sunlight.

:10:21. > :10:28.# Ooh, I need somebody to calm me down.

:10:29. > :10:33.# A little loving like Valium. # I need somebody to knock me out.

:10:34. > :10:38.# I need some loving like. # Ooh, I don't know what I'm running

:10:39. > :10:42.from. # But when the sun comes up it won't

:10:43. > :10:49.be wrong. # I need some loving like Valium.

:11:34. > :11:38.need some loving like. # Ooh, I don't know what I'm running

:11:39. > :11:41.from. # But when the sun comes up it won't

:11:42. > :11:49.be wrong. # I need some loving like Valium.

:11:50. > :12:00.# I need some loving like. # I need some loving like. I need

:12:01. > :12:18.some loving like #. Thank you Katy B! The next person

:12:19. > :12:22.I'm going to chat with at the pinot, has this super record out called

:12:23. > :12:26.New. He's had marvellous records in the last few years. This is one of

:12:27. > :12:33.the very best. Welcome Paul McCartney.

:12:34. > :12:39.APPLAUSE Oh, interesting sitting on the

:12:40. > :12:46.pinot, straddle. What inspired you to get back into the studio? I was

:12:47. > :12:50.just fed up. Yes. No, it was time. I'd written a bunch of songs and I

:12:51. > :12:57.had done some other stuff in the meantime. I had done an album of old

:12:58. > :13:02.standards, of my dad's era and your era of music. Exactly! I just

:13:03. > :13:06.thought I had some new songs so it was time. The song you just played

:13:07. > :13:15.there, what inspired that song? Where did it come from? It was made

:13:16. > :13:20.up. I went into a session with Paul Epworth. We made up the rhythm track

:13:21. > :13:26.and I started blocking out some words and finally these words "save

:13:27. > :13:31.us" came. And I started to make sense of it. It was made up on the

:13:32. > :13:38.spot. Bearing in mind, you have been one of the most successful composure

:13:39. > :13:43.of -- composers of all time, you say just making it up. I'd like to look

:13:44. > :13:48.into it. Yes, we are all just making it up. But where do you start with

:13:49. > :13:53.composition? Does it start with the words or the headline or an

:13:54. > :13:57.instrument? It depends. You just get something that starts you. If you've

:13:58. > :14:04.got no idea at all, you can just look for something on the pinot. You

:14:05. > :14:12.know, I don't know. You could look for something like that. And start

:14:13. > :14:18.yourself off. Maybe get a little rhythm thing going. You go, no, I

:14:19. > :14:23.hate that. So you change it. We liked that. You just develop it. Out

:14:24. > :14:28.of interest, have you just made that one up? Yeah. First time... See

:14:29. > :14:33.that's, really that was thinking. If you thought about it, you couldn't

:14:34. > :14:39.do it. But just instinctively that's what you've made up. Cancel the

:14:40. > :14:45.show, we'll write it now. Amazing. I think, we've seen the process close

:14:46. > :14:48.up. Oh, shut up! Yes, it's true. So now, the other thing, what about all

:14:49. > :14:52.the songs you've written, because there are great songs on here which

:14:53. > :14:56.we're going to be hearing more of, but you have written a whole

:14:57. > :15:00.catalogue of amazing songs, Wings, the Beatles, all the great songs,

:15:01. > :15:06.when you look back, what are the ones that you are most fond of? It's

:15:07. > :15:10.difficult to answer that question. Because number one, you change your

:15:11. > :15:16.favourites. And number two, they're like your babies. You don't want a

:15:17. > :15:23.favourite. Here, There and Everywhere. Yeah, nice. I like that.

:15:24. > :15:27.Yesterday I like because I dreamed it, so I have no idea where that one

:15:28. > :15:39.came fr. I woke up one morning and I had that tune. That was special.

:15:40. > :15:43.Elnor Ri -- Eleanor Rigby. Lots of people have covered them. They have

:15:44. > :15:48.all done, in fact, one of your favourites was by maybe Earth Wind

:15:49. > :15:53.Fire. That was one of my best favourites. I thought so... Because

:15:54. > :15:56.they're here tonight! I didn't know (! ) Fantastic.

:15:57. > :16:01.APPLAUSE I am really very lucky because some

:16:02. > :16:05.incredible people have covered my songs and I just feel very lucky

:16:06. > :16:09.that they would do that. How about the song writers, the composers that

:16:10. > :16:15.you like, like a lot of the musicians in this room, including

:16:16. > :16:19.me, owe you. Who is a great song writer and it's you, but who is the

:16:20. > :16:27.person that you have? I look to different eras. If you are look

:16:28. > :16:38.being back to -- to my dad's era, Cole Porter and HogieCarmichael. And

:16:39. > :16:45.then Stevie Wonder is a monster. It goes on. There's a load of great

:16:46. > :16:52.people out there and out now. Hearing more from this great record

:16:53. > :16:57.in a moment. Thank you. The wonderful Sir Paul McCartney. More

:16:58. > :17:03.from you in a moment. Now, one of the great new blues

:17:04. > :17:15.artists of today, it is Gary Clark Jr.

:17:16. > :17:31.# Well, I'm numb. # Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing.

:17:32. > :17:43.# Well, I'm numb. # Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing.

:17:44. > :17:47.# She give me a hard time in the day.

:17:48. > :17:53.# A hard time at night. # She can be so sweet till she wanna

:17:54. > :18:10.fuss and fight. # Well, I'm numb.

:18:11. > :18:20.# Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing. # Well, I'm numb.

:18:21. > :18:25.# Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing. # Ain't passing from the right.

:18:26. > :18:30.# I'm passing to the left. # Burn this whole thing down by

:18:31. > :18:43.myself. # Well, I'm numb.

:18:44. > :18:47.# Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing. # Well, I'm numb.

:18:48. > :19:35.# Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing. # Well, I'm numb.

:19:36. > :19:38.# Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing. # Well, I'm numb

:19:39. > :20:36.# Yeah, woman, I can't feel a thing. Gary Clark Jr! Nice. Our next

:20:37. > :20:41.artist, living in London, he moved to Paris and whilst busking on the

:20:42. > :20:44.Metro was discovered by music bigwigs. Here he is, it's the

:20:45. > :21:31.wonderful, Benjamin Clementine. # If I held my breath on you

:21:32. > :21:35.# I'll die a thousand times # If I was to show you how much I

:21:36. > :21:39.care # I'd probably be wearing dentures

:21:40. > :21:47.by now # Promises broken

:21:48. > :21:51.# Gnome Is your token # -- nemesis your token.

:21:52. > :21:55.# You turn around and march into your new home

:21:56. > :22:07.# Whenever you've gone darling # Please don't you ever forget to

:22:08. > :22:19.treat others the way you want to be treated

:22:20. > :22:25.# Yeah, remember your days, yeah. # I said if I held my breath on you,

:22:26. > :22:31.I'll die a thousand times # If she was to show you how much

:22:32. > :22:34.were to care, I'd be wearing dentures by now

:22:35. > :22:46.# I'm trying to say darling, I no ewhere you're going

:22:47. > :22:55.# But aren't you forget # These days dries my face

:22:56. > :22:58.# Such innocence smiles back at me # Herecy might be your new faith

:22:59. > :23:10.# But whatever you believe in, darling, don't you everer forget

:23:11. > :23:23.# To treat others the way you want to be treated, yeah

:23:24. > :23:30.# Remember your days fooling, yeah # Treat others the way you want to

:23:31. > :23:44.be treated # Remember your days full in number

:23:45. > :23:49.# I can't say nothing for you no more

:23:50. > :23:52.# Nemises # Treat others way the you want to

:23:53. > :23:58.be treated # Other-wise you'll get your

:23:59. > :24:12.punishment # Nemises, is bitter

:24:13. > :24:30.# Life is and it's come on, come on # Come on, yeah.

:24:31. > :25:02.# One for the road. # One for the road.

:25:03. > :25:13.# From the bottom of your heart. # The relegation zone.

:25:14. > :25:20.# I saw this coming from the start. # The shake, rattle and roll.

:25:21. > :25:27.# The cracks in blackout blinds cast patterns on the ceiling.

:25:28. > :25:40.# But you're feeling fine. # I thought it was dark outside.

:25:41. > :25:45.# One for the road. # So we all go back to yours and you

:25:46. > :25:47.sit and talk to me on the floor. # There's no need to show me round,

:25:48. > :25:51.baby. # I feel like I've been here before.

:25:52. > :26:00.# I've been wondering whether later when you tell everybody to go.

:26:01. > :26:10.# Will you pour me one for the road? # I knew this would be on the cards.

:26:11. > :26:19.# I knew you wouldn't fold. # I saw this coming from start.

:26:20. > :26:23.# The shake, rattle and roll. # One for the road.

:26:24. > :26:26.# So we all go back to yours. # And you sit and talk to me on the

:26:27. > :26:28.floor. # There's no need to show me round,

:26:29. > :26:33.baby. # I feel like I've been here before.

:26:34. > :26:42.# I've been wondering whether later when you tell everybody to go.

:26:43. > :26:48.# Will you pour me one for the road? # The mixture hits you hard.

:26:49. > :26:57.# Don't get that sinking feeling, don't fall apart.

:26:58. > :27:08.# Some out of tune guitar. # Soundtrack to disaster.

:27:09. > :27:21.# One for the road. # One for the road.

:27:22. > :27:49.# One for the road. # So we all go back to yours.

:27:50. > :27:54.# And you sit and talk to me on the floor.

:27:55. > :28:00.# One for the road. # There's no need to show me round,

:28:01. > :28:04.baby. # I feel like I've been here before.

:28:05. > :28:22.# One for the road. APPLAUSE AND CHEERING. Thank you

:28:23. > :28:29.Arctic Monkeys. Before that we enjoyed Benjamin Clementine. Now,

:28:30. > :28:34.Paul McCartney at the pinot and talking about a band that had

:28:35. > :28:43.covered one of their songs. We have fill p, raffle and Verdine, because

:28:44. > :28:52.we have Earth Wind Fire here. -- Philip, Ralph and Verdine. You

:28:53. > :28:55.have this new record out and on it, you've captured that amazing and

:28:56. > :29:00.unique sound of Earth Wind Fire, which is a unique sound. Where does

:29:01. > :29:07.it come from? My brother, the leader and the founder, devised a concept

:29:08. > :29:12.with the sound which came from Chicago, all of these years we've

:29:13. > :29:18.all put in the sound and made it really a great ridge make and horn

:29:19. > :29:24.sound. That huge sound, with the funk, it always gets me going. When

:29:25. > :29:29.the group first started what music inspired you? A little bit of

:29:30. > :29:34.everything actually. Kind of wanted to make the music very commercial,

:29:35. > :29:41.but at the same time, different genres of music together. Give it a

:29:42. > :29:45.little more of a jazz edge, Latin, Cuban, a little bit of everything.

:29:46. > :29:51.It is very distinctive Kind of a gumbo soup. Delicious. Lots of

:29:52. > :29:56.lovely ingredients. And your live shows were a spectacle. You have

:29:57. > :30:02.just done some shows in London, is that right? Yes, the Royal Albert

:30:03. > :30:07.Hall. It was great music, vishuals. Did you deliberately decide you

:30:08. > :30:11.would have a spectacle when you had live shows? When we started it was

:30:12. > :30:17.just about wanting to be a great band period. As the band progressed,

:30:18. > :30:21.as Maurice kept taking a look Atumpan it, he wanted to expand the

:30:22. > :30:24.concept in terms of what we were doing live. Bring more theatre to

:30:25. > :30:30.it. Every zone of it was expanding in an amazing way. We have a bit of

:30:31. > :30:31.fantasy from 1978 here. We can go down the time tunnel together and

:30:32. > :30:50.hold hands. Here we are. S

:30:51. > :31:17.MUSIC: Kan fantasy APPLAUSE

:31:18. > :31:24.fantastic. # A David Cameron 70s moment and

:31:25. > :31:30.icon -- a fantastic 70s moment. It was a time of mullet hear, dimmer

:31:31. > :31:35.switches, quite an extreme, you know people were, baths of champagne, you

:31:36. > :31:39.know, excessive, let's say that. Let's not go into details. Platform

:31:40. > :31:43.shoes. Yes and people getting off their nut basically. I heard, and I

:31:44. > :31:48.don't know if it's true, that you didn't do this. You avoided,

:31:49. > :31:53.amazingly, avoided that. We all lives in capsules. I thought so!

:31:54. > :31:58.That's why you look so well now. Take your vitamins, say your prayers

:31:59. > :32:06.and drink the green tea. You look very well on it. You also did a

:32:07. > :32:14.great cover of Can't Get You Into My Life. Yes. We do it every night in

:32:15. > :32:21.our show. Did you hear that? Every tight. Yes, got -- Every night. Yes.

:43:52. > :43:55.by a man who's been having tremendous success lately, Alex

:43:56. > :44:00.Turner, from the Arctic Monkeys. Marvellous to have you back at the

:44:01. > :44:04.show. How are you doing, all right? I'm pleased you've got a drink.

:44:05. > :44:10.Yeah, I'm just over here having a casual red wine by myself. I've

:44:11. > :44:17.joined you now. They should get you one. No, nothing for me. You should

:44:18. > :44:20.be celebrating because AM, your fifth album, the fifth to go

:44:21. > :44:27.straight to number one. Congratulations. Thank you.

:44:28. > :44:35.APPLAUSE How do you celebrate this then? Do

:44:36. > :44:42.you faux what -- do you faux what, we -- do you know what, we haven't

:44:43. > :44:47.had time for a celebration. This room seems like a wonderful reward.

:44:48. > :44:52.What a great reward. We've come up trumps tonight with the guests. An

:44:53. > :44:56.amazing lot of guests. Right? Right guys. A load of great guests and one

:44:57. > :45:00.glass of wine. There we go. Is it right you've moved now. You're

:45:01. > :45:04.living in LA? We've been spending a lot of time there. We did the record

:45:05. > :45:07.there. We've been there a lot in the last year. Does that make the record

:45:08. > :45:11.sound different do you think? Perhaps some days I feel like it

:45:12. > :45:15.does. Perhaps I haven't got the hindsight on it yet to make a

:45:16. > :45:20.judgment on that. Still a bit close. Yeah. But maybe it makes it more

:45:21. > :45:24.laid back or something. This might sound like a daft question, what's

:45:25. > :45:28.the main differences between Sheffield and Los Angeles?

:45:29. > :45:34.LAUGHTER I don't think that requires - that

:45:35. > :45:37.laughter just was the best answer to that question perhaps. I don't know.

:45:38. > :45:41.You can ride your motorbike all year round. That's the only difference.

:45:42. > :45:48.Other than that, it's pretty much the same. Similar, yeah. I love

:45:49. > :45:51.Sheff. As do I. We were there this weekend. We caught up with old

:45:52. > :45:57.friends on Saturday night, it was great. Of course, Josh Hom came on

:45:58. > :46:02.the show and he told us you go motorcycling with him. Is that a big

:46:03. > :46:08.lie? No, that's true. That's not him making the myths. So you ride all

:46:09. > :46:13.the year round, not just fair weather? I make out like I ride

:46:14. > :46:22.hard, but I'm just a terrible poser, really. What sort of motorbike do

:46:23. > :46:26.you have? I got a YamahaXS 650. Are you into that? I used to know about

:46:27. > :46:32.the old bikes. I haven't kept up with the modern ones. That's a 70s

:46:33. > :46:39.bike. How much I know then. I'm still with the Brough, superiors.

:46:40. > :46:45.You strike me as four wheels. No I like the Vincent. The black shadows.

:46:46. > :46:51.Or the lightning, if you could get one. Very hard to find. A bit out of

:46:52. > :46:55.my range at the moment. They break a legal. -- leg. Move a few more

:46:56. > :47:03.units, you never know. This record is going the right way. You were

:47:04. > :47:10.given a Q award for the best track I Want To Know. More things to

:47:11. > :47:14.celebrate. Cheers! Yes! APPLAUSE

:47:15. > :47:19.You must have a lot of awards now. Where do you keep those awards? I

:47:20. > :47:25.don't know where any of them are. I remember one BRIT Award that we had

:47:26. > :47:28.was in Jamie's fridge for a long time, just by the mustard and

:47:29. > :47:32.ketchup in the door. Is that what you keep in the fridge? That's where

:47:33. > :47:36.he was keeping one. I do keep the ketchup in the fridge.

:47:37. > :47:41.I don't think there's anything unusual about a Brit in the fridge,

:47:42. > :47:45.but why ketchup? I don't know. What about Marmite, in the fridge or in

:47:46. > :47:52.the cupboard? Cupboard, definitely. I want room temperature. I agree

:47:53. > :47:57.there. A chilled award yes. Room temperature condiments? Hmmm. Does

:47:58. > :48:00.Marmite get classed as a condiment, though or is that ahead in this

:48:01. > :48:05.game. Spread - now that's a question. Or is it a smear? Or maybe

:48:06. > :48:07.just a way of life. It's a statement. Exactly. Well

:48:08. > :48:11.congratulations on it all. Marvellous to have you back here.

:48:12. > :48:17.Thanks for having us. Pleased we could give you a glass of Red wine.

:48:18. > :48:21.Sorry we couldn't give me one. Thanks for being here, Alex Turner
