:11:47. > :11:59.# Apart, apart. # Fallin' apart. # Apart, apart.

:12:00. > :12:03.# Apart, apart #. APPLAUSE

:12:04. > :12:06.Little Dragon. Klapp Klapp. So tonight we have lots of amazing

:12:07. > :12:10.things, Aloe Blacc, more things to come from him. More stuff at the

:12:11. > :12:16.piano. A room packed with really extraordinary people.

:12:17. > :12:19.because of the increased weather temperature throughout. It means we

:12:20. > :12:29.have heavyweight talent here tonight. Let us hear some things

:12:30. > :13:02.from their new Luminous LP from The Horrors.

:13:03. > :13:18.# We are the ones that the light shines down upon

:13:19. > :13:34.# If we start, it's just a wish we made

:13:35. > :16:46.a guest here from one of my favourite punk groups, the Slits. It

:16:47. > :16:51.is Viv Albertine! You describe this in your book. The punk thing, when

:16:52. > :16:58.it came out, it was 38 years ago or something. Surely not! Near enough.

:16:59. > :17:04.How would you describe it to somebody who had never been there?

:17:05. > :17:10.It sprang out of very dark times which are hard to imagine now, how

:17:11. > :17:15.grim London was. Everything was grey, there was rubbish everywhere.

:17:16. > :17:23.There was nothing to do, nothing on TV, no youth culture. We weren't

:17:24. > :17:28.rated in anyway or given a voice. So punk sprang out of having nothing

:17:29. > :17:35.else to do, it was that or die. And what made you want to be in a band?

:17:36. > :17:42.It was a slow process. I loved music from very young, but I saw Patti

:17:43. > :17:51.Smith's album cover, and she looked like a real girl, a bit boy. And

:17:52. > :17:55.then I saw Johnny rotten perform, he was from north London and went to a

:17:56. > :18:04.comprehensive School, he was like me except a boy, and I realise that was

:18:05. > :18:11.what I was going to do full top and was he an easy person to be in a

:18:12. > :18:15.band with? Who started off playing the saxophone, and that is how he

:18:16. > :18:22.invented the pogo dance, because he had the saxophone to hold, so all he

:18:23. > :18:29.could do was John Bob and down. You heard that here first! It was the

:18:30. > :18:40.live excitement of it all. You went on tour in 1977. We are treated

:18:41. > :18:47.differently as a girl group? Yes. The Slits were told to get off the

:18:48. > :18:50.tour bus, go straight to your rooms, and not be seen until the morning,

:18:51. > :18:57.because how you dress is too offensive. The boys, the Clash and

:18:58. > :19:05.so on, they were allowed to hang out in the bar, that the Slits mustn't

:19:06. > :19:16.be seen. We had to to bribe the driver to take on the bus. People

:19:17. > :19:23.spat at us. We have a little clip here on Omnibus.

:19:24. > :19:27.The infamous Slits, an all girl band who have never made a record. They

:19:28. > :19:41.have refused offers from several record labels.

:19:42. > :19:51.# I'm so glad that you belong to me # We want to be free...

:19:52. > :19:58.#. APPLAUSE

:19:59. > :20:03.And the book is great. You are very frank about things in

:20:04. > :20:08.the book, very clear. Was it an enjoyable process going back over

:20:09. > :20:13.those times? It was like going through your attic and seeing the

:20:14. > :20:16.letters you had written. But I could only talk about the moments that

:20:17. > :20:20.happened when I was in the room so that I could experience them. So I

:20:21. > :20:27.didn't do a lot of research. It isn't a timetable. It is just

:20:28. > :20:32.emotional memories. And one of the things was the lead singer, who

:20:33. > :20:44.sadly is no longer with us. What was so special about her? I think Ari

:20:45. > :20:51.was one of the most underrated people. She was across between Tina

:20:52. > :20:57.Turner and others. She invented new dances, had a new look. She was

:20:58. > :21:06.thrown onto the stage, and she had no inhibitions.

:21:07. > :21:15.Looking back at the 22-year-old ewe, there are some great pictures. What

:21:16. > :21:20.advice would you give that person now? -- the 22-year-old you. Don't

:21:21. > :21:27.think that you now? -- the 22-year-old you. Don't

:21:28. > :21:31.ahead and do it. Don't give up. APPLAUSE

:21:32. > :21:39.Thank you very much for joining us! And she is right. And now, from

:21:40. > :21:43.Kentucky, but now living in Nashville, with a lovely sound, we

:21:44. > :21:52.welcome Sturgill Simpson. # I've seen Jesus play with flames.

:21:53. > :21:58.# In a lake of fire. # That I was standing in.

:21:59. > :22:07.# Met the devil in Seattle and spent nine months inside the lions den.

:22:08. > :22:17.# Met Buddha yet another time and he showed me a glowing light within.

:22:18. > :22:21.# But I every time I glare in the eyes of my

:22:22. > :22:29.# Says my son it's all been done and best

:22:30. > :22:37.# So someday you're gonna wake up old

:22:38. > :22:43.# So # You meet and greet and cheat along

:22:44. > :22:53.the way. # There's a gateway in our mind that

:22:54. > :23:03.# Where reptile aliens made of light this plane.

:23:04. > :23:04.# Where reptile aliens made of light cut you open and pull out all your

:23:05. > :23:13.# Tell me how you make illegal pain.

:23:14. > :23:14.# Tell me how you make illegal something that we all make in our

:23:15. > :23:24.brain. # Some say you might go crazy but

:23:25. > :23:31.then again it might make you go sane.

:23:32. > :23:38.# Every time I take a look inside inside that old and fabled book.

:23:39. > :23:40.# I'm blinded and reminded of the pain caused by some old man in the

:23:41. > :23:48.sky. # Marijuana, LSD, psilocybin, and

:23:49. > :23:54.DMT they all changed the way I see. # Marijuana, LSD, psilocybin, and

:23:55. > :24:03.# But love's the only thing that # So don't waste your mind on

:24:04. > :24:08.nursery rhymes. # Or fairy tales of blood and wine.

:24:09. > :24:12.# It's turtles all the way down the line.

:24:13. > :24:16.# So to each their own til' we go home.

:24:17. > :24:19.# To other realms our souls must roam.

:24:20. > :24:27.# To and through the myth that we all call space and time.

:24:28. > :24:58.# Over and over. # I get to know myself.

:24:59. > :25:06.# Over and over. # There ain't nobody else.

:25:07. > :25:23.# It kills to watch you love another.

:25:24. > :25:26.# I should have known better when I caught you wild. # You were

:25:27. > :25:33.incredible. # Never knew you like I know you

:25:34. > :25:39.now. # You are illegible.

:25:40. > :25:47.# Imperceptible the lines # That form the screw.

:25:48. > :25:56.# It kills to watch you love another.

:25:57. > :26:06.# Over and over # I get to know myself.

:26:07. > :26:13.# Over and over. # There ain't nobody else.

:26:14. > :26:26.# A receptacle of lies. # Construed to waste your time.

:26:27. > :26:35.# It kills to watch you love another.

:26:36. > :26:45.# You know. # Over and over.

:26:46. > :27:08.# I get to know myself. # Over and over.

:27:09. > :27:28.# There ain't nobody else. Imperceptible, the lies. # Construed

:27:29. > :27:30.to waste your time. # It kills to watch you love

:27:31. > :27:33.another. # It kills to watch you love

:27:34. > :27:41.another. # It kills to watch you love another

:27:42. > :28:12.#. Thank you the The Afghan Whigs. We

:28:13. > :28:16.enjoyed Sturgill Simpson before that. Now, a man that is rocking

:28:17. > :28:21.number ones all over the world with endless records and endless

:28:22. > :28:23.successes, he will be in a film and we lovely him madly. He is Aloe

:28:24. > :28:45.Blacc. # Solider in the city.

:28:46. > :28:50.# No job to occupy my time. # What else you expect me to do

:28:51. > :28:52.except crime. # It ain't stealing if it's

:28:53. > :28:55.somebody's fair. # Refuse to lose with this trouble

:28:56. > :29:08.on my mind. # Join it all.

:29:09. > :29:11.# Come knocking at my door? # Where the police don't see me

:29:12. > :29:13.anymore. # Hopped in that backseat so many

:29:14. > :29:16.times before. # Solider in the city.

:29:17. > :29:27.# I'm a solider in the city. # Solider in the city.

:29:28. > :29:31.# Trying to make some cheese out of all these things.

:29:32. > :29:35.# Want to find a queen but all I'm seeing is tramps.

:29:36. > :29:38.# Everyday feels like I'm away at boot camp.

:29:39. > :29:54.# Bad ass little kids busting out the street lamp.

:29:55. > :29:58.# Neighbourhood hustler come knocking at my door.

:29:59. > :30:01.# Got to pay my debts, need to settle the score.
