:12:36. > :12:40.You have this incredible new record and the London Sessions, made in

:12:41. > :12:46.London and a lot of the artists are new artists. How did it come about?

:12:47. > :12:53.It came about with me doing a song with disclosure. It blew up over

:12:54. > :12:58.here in London and did very well. Then it started blowing up Indian

:12:59. > :13:04.knighted States. The whole idea was to do an EP with disclosure. I just

:13:05. > :13:10.signed at Capitol records. I was speaking to the head of Capitol

:13:11. > :13:15.records, Steve Barnett about the idea of doing the EP with

:13:16. > :13:22.disclosure. He said don't do an EP with disclosure, do a whole album in

:13:23. > :13:25.London and surround yourself with the producers and writing and the

:13:26. > :13:36.amazing up and coming talent here. That is how it came about.

:13:37. > :13:42.Disclosure Sam Smith, Emily Sunday, great people. Emily said she had

:13:43. > :13:46.been in the studio with you. How does it compare working with these

:13:47. > :13:52.people because you have some of the top Americans, how does the methods

:13:53. > :13:56.of working change? Do the British people stop and have tea and cake?

:13:57. > :14:03.They definitely have their lunch more often than the people in the

:14:04. > :14:12.United States do. The hours are early, I was in the studio at 12

:14:13. > :14:22.noon every day. That is not normal. We usually do it at six p.m..

:14:23. > :14:31.We get there at 12, stop about 12.15 for lunch? No. We are working - once

:14:32. > :14:36.we get something. Once we get a song, everybody takes a break

:14:37. > :14:43.because we got it. We go, let's have lunch. That is how it goes. Did you

:14:44. > :14:50.look at stuff while you were here. Did you look around? I have been

:14:51. > :14:54.here several times. This time asat in parks I hadn't sat with before.

:14:55. > :15:00.There is a park with a gigantic hill. I don't know the name of it.

:15:01. > :15:06.There is benches and people, I don't know. Greenwich Park. Yeah. You

:15:07. > :15:12.didn't tell me. You went to Greenwich Park and you didn't tell

:15:13. > :15:16.me. Amazing. I discovered Shoreditch. I didn't know, all the

:15:17. > :15:23.years I had been coming here. I had no idea. This is the modern world.

:15:24. > :15:29.10, 20 years ago nobody went to the East End, except for me I played the

:15:30. > :15:33.piano there. It is a groovy bit. You are there. You are going to do a

:15:34. > :15:39.song you have written with Sam Smith. Tell us about that song? The

:15:40. > :15:46.song, that we are about to sing, is called If You're Not Loving You. It

:15:47. > :15:51.was written by Sam Smith alone. When I heard his reference, of course, it

:15:52. > :15:56.gave me goose pumps. I couldn't wait to record it. Yeah. That's the song.

:15:57. > :16:02.I hope we can do that in a moment here at the piano. Yeah. Mary J.

:16:21. > :16:24.# I should've worshiped her sooner. # If the heavens ever did speak.

:16:25. > :16:29.# She's the last true mouthpiece. # Every Sunday's getting more bleak.

:34:35. > :34:38.# when my time comes around. # lay me gently in the cold, dark

:34:39. > :35:13.earth. Before that, the skills of GoGo

:35:14. > :35:19.Penguin. Now one of the great legends of music. She has celebrated

:35:20. > :35:26.50 years in music, we are delighted to have here, Marianne Faithfull.

:35:27. > :35:32.Good to see you. Marvellous to see you. It is a great treat to have

:35:33. > :35:42.been here. You are sounding better than ever with Anna Calvi. It is

:35:43. > :35:51.almost, give my love to London. It is slightly sarcastic. Do you like

:35:52. > :35:56.London? I am kind of fond of London, but I have had my ups and downs with

:35:57. > :36:04.London, especially with the media. I don't like the British press.

:36:05. > :36:11.Where'd do you live now? Between Dublin, or Ireland in general, and

:36:12. > :36:18.Paris. So Dennis and champagne. A lovely treat. The first song you

:36:19. > :36:24.played, you have Anna Calvi, you have other great guests? I wrote

:36:25. > :36:30.that song with Anna Calvi. She picked up her little guitar -

:36:31. > :36:39.wellhead big guitar. She is a little girl, with a guitar. I had the

:36:40. > :36:43.lyrics and she is so talented. I immediately change them because I

:36:44. > :36:47.thought she was too talented for these lyrics and I have to make them

:36:48. > :36:55.better. It is a bit unnerving but somebody when you suddenly change

:36:56. > :37:03.it. But she was perfectly able. You have lots of other great people?

:37:04. > :37:27.Yes, Nick Kaye, who I have worked with before. Steve Earle is so

:37:28. > :37:35.wonderful. He wrote, Give My Love To London with me. You have to say, if

:37:36. > :37:48.you need to change the lyrics to fit into the music, you can. Bruised

:37:49. > :37:54.ego! I think they are big enough men to take it. No, they are allowed to

:37:55. > :38:07.change it, it is me with the bruised ego. You have been in an opera,

:38:08. > :38:18.Seven Deadly Sins? It was written in the 20s. It wasn't a big hit and it

:38:19. > :38:25.has never been a big hit. People don't seem to like it. It is almost

:38:26. > :38:30.still, even now, because it is very anti-religious and very antifamily.

:38:31. > :38:50.What are the seven deadly sins, just for the people at home. Pride,

:38:51. > :39:00.sloth, anger, lust, greed... Food, that one. Gluttony? Gluttony!

:39:01. > :39:10.Avarice and envy. What is the worst? Envy. I think we have learnt

:39:11. > :39:14.something there. You have been making fantastic records and you

:39:15. > :39:23.have toured with those, which was delightful. But I would like to go

:39:24. > :39:40.back to the beginning. It would be a lovely thing to do.

:39:41. > :40:02.# it is the evening of the day. # I sit and watch the children play.

:40:03. > :40:13.# smiling faces, I can see. # but not for me.

:40:14. > :40:29.# I sit and watch as tears go by. # my riches cannot buy every second.

:40:30. > :40:41.# I want to hear the children sing. # all I hear is the sound of rain

:40:42. > :41:05.falling on the ground. # I sit and watch as tears go by.

:41:06. > :41:17.# doing things I used to do. # they think I am mean.

:41:18. > :41:28.# I sit and watch as tears go by. The wonderful, Marianne Faithfull.

:41:29. > :41:47.And now, first aid kit. # The sun shone high

:41:48. > :41:59.those few summer days. # But just

:42:00. > :42:19.as the moon it shines straight. # What if our hard work ends

:42:20. > :42:37.in despair? # What

:42:38. > :42:39.if the road won't take me there? # Oh, I wish, for once,

:42:40. > :42:43.we could stay gold. # What if to love

:42:44. > :42:46.and be loved is not enough? # What if I fall

:42:47. > :42:49.and can't bear to get up? # Oh, I wish, for once,

:42:50. > :42:55.we could stay gold. # We're

:42:56. > :43:10.on our way through rugged land. # Top of that mountain

:43:11. > :43:16.we wanted to stand. # But there is only forward,

:43:17. > :43:30.no other way. # Tomorrow was your hope

:43:31. > :43:36.at the end of the day. # What if our hard work ends

:43:37. > :43:49.in despair? # What

:43:50. > :43:52.if the road won't take me there? # Oh, I wish, for once,

:44:08. > :44:22.they fall and form a bridge. # All of my dreams,

:44:23. > :44:34.they fall and form a bridge. # Of memories where I

:44:35. > :44:56.can't get back to. # What if our hard work ends

:44:57. > :44:58.in despair? # What

:49:55. > :49:59.Marianne Faithfull with Give My Love To London much before that we

:50:00. > :50:05.enjoyed First Aid Kit. It's sad because we have to say that the

:50:06. > :50:10.greatest British jazz trumpeter, Kenny Wheeler has passed away. We

:50:11. > :50:16.have a clip of him. He is introduced by Ronnie Scott who doesn't seem to
