0:20:13 > 0:20:15who are not familiar with his work?

0:20:15 > 0:20:17Oh, he is probably the greatest French writer since

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Baudelaire, Apollinaire.

0:20:20 > 0:20:22I think people recognise him as being one of

0:20:22 > 0:20:25France's greatest poets.

0:20:25 > 0:20:29He was also a wonderful composer, but he used a lot of classical music

0:20:29 > 0:20:32which is why I did this with the Philharmonic.

0:20:32 > 0:20:38Because of him being inspired by Brahms, Chopin...

0:22:49 > 0:22:52in such a way that it is like film music.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58If it was just you and a piano, I wouldn't get fed up,

0:23:19 > 0:23:21I was just lucky because I got there first.

0:23:21 > 0:23:24I mean, I must have turned up there at around 1968,

0:23:24 > 0:23:28when everything actually was English, fashion-wise.

0:23:28 > 0:23:31There was Jean Shrimpton, there was the Beatles,

0:23:31 > 0:23:35the Rolling Stones, photography, everything, it was a renaissance

0:23:35 > 0:23:41in England and that is when I went to France to see if I would get this

0:23:41 > 0:23:45part in a movie with Serge and I got it and then I did another film

0:23:45 > 0:23:49with Romy Schneider and Alain Delon and suddenly I was off.

0:23:49 > 0:23:54What I was was not anything that great, I just had a very short skirt

0:23:54 > 0:23:56and had a terrible accent, I had teeth with a gap

0:23:56 > 0:23:58in them and I don't know...

0:23:58 > 0:23:59But they loved you.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06The thing is, the French films and the culture is so fantastic,
