0:15:19 > 0:15:23- Even my mum came from Poland... - From Poland! Where's Mum?

0:15:23 > 0:15:24CHEERING

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Oh! Hello, Jagoda's mum!

0:15:27 > 0:15:31- And my sister too. I forgot my sister.- Oh, there she is.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34How was the flight, guys, was it OK? Nice snacks on board? Good.

0:15:34 > 0:15:40Now, Kelis, did the Alle Choir get you flying moonwards

0:15:40 > 0:15:43and were All The King's Men worth it for you?

0:15:43 > 0:15:47Well, I have to say, what a great start we've got tonight.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49I'm excited. Alle Choir, I want to say to you guys, dziekuje,

0:15:49 > 0:15:51so thank you for being here.

0:15:51 > 0:15:52CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:15:52 > 0:15:55I love Poland. You guys looked gorgeous.

0:15:55 > 0:15:57Obviously I'm partial so I think I belong in the group tonight.

0:15:57 > 0:15:59Amazing harmonies.

0:15:59 > 0:16:02The way that you guys kind of break in from unison into your harmonies

0:16:02 > 0:16:04and your parts, the blend is beautiful,

0:16:04 > 0:16:06it's really smooth, I love that.

0:16:06 > 0:16:07My one note would be, especially with jazz,

0:16:07 > 0:16:10I think we were lacking just a little bit of swing,

0:16:10 > 0:16:12so I think for the next riff battle if you guys could just really

0:16:12 > 0:16:15kind of get into it and let us feel the rhythm and the vibe of the song.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18For All The King's Men, I think it's important to be able to lock eyes

0:16:18 > 0:16:19and kind of draw your audience in

0:16:19 > 0:16:21and I definitely felt that with you guys.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23It was really, really good, I love that.

0:16:23 > 0:16:27Gareth, a lot of work has gone into both of these Showstoppers.

0:16:27 > 0:16:28What were your thoughts, Gareth?

0:16:28 > 0:16:31Well, I commend any student who's able to do all of that work

0:16:31 > 0:16:34on top of their degree. I was in the bar the whole time...

0:16:34 > 0:16:37- so very well done for that. - LAUGHTER

0:16:37 > 0:16:40I'm a huge enthusiast about a cappella, and I thought

0:16:40 > 0:16:42that beginning was really brave,

0:16:42 > 0:16:45became you came out here and gave us silence

0:16:45 > 0:16:47and that's really bold

0:16:47 > 0:16:49and using silence well in music is so, so important,

0:16:49 > 0:16:51so a really, really strong start.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53I can hear a choral background,

0:16:53 > 0:16:56I can hear vowels that are quite choral and rich

0:16:56 > 0:16:59and that's very good but this is a pop proposition.

0:16:59 > 0:17:00What I'm looking to see is

0:17:00 > 0:17:03can you give me that really kind of edgy pop sound?

0:17:03 > 0:17:04Turning to Alle Choir,

0:17:04 > 0:17:08I would agree with Kelis about the incisiveness of the rhythm.

0:17:08 > 0:17:12Jazz has its own particular rhythmic character, there's ba-da, ba-da,

0:17:12 > 0:17:14just really making them sharp and exciting

0:17:14 > 0:17:17and so I'd like to see that when you go into this Riff-Off

0:17:17 > 0:17:21but it's a great ensemble, really very, very together.

0:17:21 > 0:17:23- This is going to be interesting, I think.- It's exciting, isn't it?

0:17:23 > 0:17:25Bebe, what are you looking for

0:17:25 > 0:17:28as the groups go forward towards the old Riff-Off?

0:17:28 > 0:17:31I loved both of them. I think it's going to be so hard tonight.

0:17:31 > 0:17:34I love you guys because I feel like you're so young and fresh

0:17:34 > 0:17:37and I was excited, I was like, "Wow, I want to dance",

0:17:37 > 0:17:39and then with Alle Choir,

0:17:39 > 0:17:42I felt like I was thrown into The Great Gatsby, you know.

0:17:42 > 0:17:43I know, it's lovely.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46Yeah, I think I'm just looking for blending and good dynamics

0:17:46 > 0:17:50and kind of working as a group and yeah, just having fun.

0:17:50 > 0:17:53Only one group will go through to the Solo Battles tonight.

0:17:53 > 0:17:55The other is about to be knocked out.

0:17:55 > 0:17:59Deciding their fate is the themed Riff-Off.

0:17:59 > 0:18:01CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:18:03 > 0:18:07It's time to reveal the theme.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17CHEERING

0:18:17 > 0:18:19Ooh, lads!

0:18:19 > 0:18:22One group very shortly will be heroes, the other zeroed

0:18:22 > 0:18:25and kapowed right out of the competition.

0:18:25 > 0:18:27The very best of luck to all of you.

0:18:27 > 0:18:29APPLAUSE

0:21:43 > 0:21:48# Oh, it's Spider-Man! #

0:21:48 > 0:21:52CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:22:00 > 0:22:02A fantastic Heroes Riff-Off.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04All The King's Men are almost like the X-Men.

0:22:04 > 0:22:06They've got high notes, they've got low notes,

0:22:06 > 0:22:08they've got instrumental sounds,

0:22:08 > 0:22:10beatbox, they are basically an unstoppable force

0:22:10 > 0:22:13with lots of different weapons. However, on the other side,

0:22:13 > 0:22:15the Alle Choir are like the classic superheroes,

0:22:15 > 0:22:18Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman - all strong on their own

0:22:18 > 0:22:21but when they join forces together through jazz harmonies,

0:22:21 > 0:22:25it's an impenetrable wall of sound, so what's it going to be?

0:22:25 > 0:22:28Thank you so much, Deke Sharon. Lovely stuff.

0:22:28 > 0:22:29APPLAUSE

0:22:29 > 0:22:30Now, Rob...

0:22:30 > 0:22:32WOLF WHISTLE

0:22:32 > 0:22:34How was that for you?

0:22:36 > 0:22:38Um, a bit stressful.

0:22:38 > 0:22:39LAUGHTER

0:22:39 > 0:22:42Well, I'm happy that I didn't break my neck in that roll.

0:22:42 > 0:22:44You did a full flying forward roll.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47Well, we've had some amazing choreography work,

0:22:47 > 0:22:50so yeah, it's just been... I think we really pulled it off.

0:22:50 > 0:22:54- I'm really happy.- Quite a lot of sweat built up in that gilet.

0:22:54 > 0:22:57Well done, Rob. Well done, all of you.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02You guys are so smooth.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06Krystian, you've actually appeared in a superhero movie, is that right?

0:23:06 > 0:23:07That's true.

0:23:07 > 0:23:09LAUGHTER

0:23:09 > 0:23:10What did you have to do?

0:23:10 > 0:23:14Did you have a superpower yourself? Are you Velvet Man? What's your...?

0:23:14 > 0:23:17Velour Man or Beard Man? What's your power?

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Tell me, what's your power?

0:23:19 > 0:23:22I used to be a Groot in Guardians Of The Galaxy.

0:23:22 > 0:23:26I'd be much taller, so yeah, you probably wouldn't recognise me.

0:23:26 > 0:23:30- Guardians Of The Galaxy! Now, Gareth...- Yes.

0:23:30 > 0:23:32Tell us what you thought of that Riff-Off.

0:23:32 > 0:23:34Coming to All The King's Men first, I like the way you did that chorus

0:23:34 > 0:23:38and you embraced that at the beginning, this big larynx sound

0:23:38 > 0:23:41and then we got the real energised vocal stuff later

0:23:41 > 0:23:43and I thought the sense of fun was there.

0:23:43 > 0:23:45You asked for tightness, Gareth. Did you get tightness?

0:23:45 > 0:23:48- I thought it was pretty tight. Did we think it was tight?- Yes.

0:23:48 > 0:23:50CHEERING

0:23:50 > 0:23:53Jazz leggings are certainly quite tight, so...

0:23:53 > 0:23:56I mean, I have no doubt that helps in ways that we won't go into now...

0:23:56 > 0:23:58But very impressive.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01Coming to Alle Choir, I think you had a hard job there

0:24:01 > 0:24:04because your sense of style in your first Showstopper was

0:24:04 > 0:24:08so clear, the jazz choir, I think that came off less well

0:24:08 > 0:24:10and perhaps less suited to the Riff-Off.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14Some of the polyphonic moments where you had different parts intertwining

0:24:14 > 0:24:17got a little bit lost at times, but I loved Spider-Man.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20- I thought that was just absolutely great.- Yes!- Both fantastic groups.

0:24:20 > 0:24:23Bebe, tell me what you thought of the Riff-Off.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25I loved All The King's Men.

0:24:25 > 0:24:29I want to, like, hang out with you guys. You guys seem so cool.

0:24:29 > 0:24:33- Choirs CAN be cool.- Yeah, you guys are cool.- Choirs are cool.

0:24:33 > 0:24:36CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:24:36 > 0:24:37I want to know who does the choreography.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40- George does a lot of it. - Awesome job, awesome job.

0:24:40 > 0:24:43Your harmonies were on point, you were jumping, doing these twirls.

0:24:43 > 0:24:46I mean, if I do that on stage, I will be off pitch in 2.5 seconds,

0:24:46 > 0:24:48so I loved it and I want to watch you more,

0:24:48 > 0:24:51like, I want to come to your show or something, you know?

0:24:51 > 0:24:52Stalker!

0:24:52 > 0:24:54LAUGHTER

0:24:54 > 0:24:55Stalker!

0:24:55 > 0:24:59Alle Choir, I love when you guys do jazz. Your dynamics are so good.

0:24:59 > 0:25:01You get really quiet and then you're able to get really loud

0:25:01 > 0:25:03and you listen to each other. It was beautiful.

0:25:03 > 0:25:06And then, Karolina, I love your voice, by the way,

0:25:06 > 0:25:08and I think you're a star, you're amazing.

0:25:08 > 0:25:10CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:25:10 > 0:25:11Well done, Karolina.

0:25:13 > 0:25:15- Thank you very much. - Some great comments.

0:25:15 > 0:25:19Now, Kelis, who knocked it out of the park for you?

0:25:19 > 0:25:22I think with All The King's Men, you guys are exciting,

0:25:22 > 0:25:24kind of just how you incorporate the playfulness I love.

0:25:24 > 0:25:29- The beatboxing, for me, on the end is so good.- Yes! Freddie!

0:25:29 > 0:25:31Yeah, fantastic, I loved it.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33He's an economist AND a beatboxer!

0:25:33 > 0:25:35I mean - who knew, right?

0:25:35 > 0:25:39My one thing... I don't agree, actually, with Gareth.

0:25:39 > 0:25:41I do think there were some blending issues,

0:25:41 > 0:25:43but all in all I really enjoyed watching you guys.

0:25:43 > 0:25:47And then, Alle Choir, I agree with Bebe, you have really good dynamics

0:25:47 > 0:25:49and you had these really special moments.

0:25:49 > 0:25:51There were some moments when you guys kind of lost me,

0:25:51 > 0:25:53the harmonies kind of get muddled a little bit

0:25:53 > 0:25:56but all in all I think it was a really good performance.

0:25:56 > 0:25:59Thank you, judges. Well, only one group can go through

0:25:59 > 0:26:00to tonight's Solo Battles.

0:26:04 > 0:26:09Bebe, which group do you want to send through to the Solo Battles?

0:26:09 > 0:26:14Um... It was hard because they were both so awesome

0:26:14 > 0:26:17but All The King's Men, I pick you.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19APPLAUSE

0:26:22 > 0:26:26Kelis, who do you think deserves a place into tonight's Solo Battles?

0:26:26 > 0:26:30It was really hard and you guys are so different,

0:26:30 > 0:26:33so making a decision has been difficult.

0:26:33 > 0:26:35I...

0:26:35 > 0:26:37I decided to go with Alle Choir.

0:26:37 > 0:26:40APPLAUSE

0:26:40 > 0:26:41Well, well.

0:26:43 > 0:26:47One apiece. Gareth, you've got the deciding vote.

0:26:47 > 0:26:50Who would you like to see going through to tonight's Solo Battle?

0:26:50 > 0:26:54Thank you. Disagreement on the panel over this. It's a difficult one,

0:26:54 > 0:26:58and I thought both groups were great but the group that I would like to

0:26:58 > 0:27:02see go through to the solo round, to see what you've got, is...

0:27:04 > 0:27:05..All The King's Men.

0:27:05 > 0:27:08CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:27:12 > 0:27:16We've had to say goodbye to our lovely Alle Choir.

0:27:16 > 0:27:19We've absolutely loved having you here.

0:27:19 > 0:27:22Thank you so much for bringing us your joy and your beautiful voices.

0:27:22 > 0:27:27Going through, however, it's All The King's Men. Congratulations.

0:27:29 > 0:27:34We will see you later on in the Solo Battles.

0:27:34 > 0:27:38But the big question is, who will be joining you?

0:27:38 > 0:27:41Let's meet our next two groups, ready for choral combat.

0:27:41 > 0:27:44It's the London International Gospel Choir...

0:27:44 > 0:27:47APPLAUSE

0:27:47 > 0:27:49..versus Songbird Sessions.

0:27:49 > 0:27:51APPLAUSE

0:27:52 > 0:27:56We are the London International Gospel Choir.

0:27:56 > 0:28:00We're an unauditioned, open choir. Everybody welcome, everybody sings.

0:28:00 > 0:28:03Wherever we are, they always have to sing. You just can't stop him.

0:28:03 > 0:28:05He will just sing in front of anyone.

0:28:05 > 0:28:07# It's true! #

0:28:07 > 0:28:09# Ain't no mountain high enough... #

0:28:09 > 0:28:11I'm personally from Germany.

0:28:11 > 0:28:13We have singers from India, Brazil, and South Africa.

0:28:15 > 0:28:18I found this choir and I knew that this is the right place for me

0:28:18 > 0:28:19and this was going to be my family.

0:28:19 > 0:28:22Until about ten years ago I wouldn't even sing in public.

0:28:22 > 0:28:25I kind of found my voice in this choir.

0:28:25 > 0:28:26Food's up, everyone!

0:28:26 > 0:28:30When you're going head-to-head with other choirs who are auditioned,

0:28:30 > 0:28:34chorally trained, it doesn't matter because we sing because we love it.

0:28:34 > 0:28:40# Let's get together and feel all right! #

0:28:40 > 0:28:42Here's to Pitch Battle. Let's go and do this.

0:28:42 > 0:28:43ALL CHEER

0:28:48 > 0:28:50We're Songbird Sessions, and we are all about soul

0:28:50 > 0:28:53and real heartfelt lyrical music.

0:28:55 > 0:28:58The one thing that bonds us is this music college.

0:28:58 > 0:29:01Myself and Kelly met here years ago.

0:29:21 > 0:29:24I think we all know that there's going to be some larger choirs

0:29:24 > 0:29:26but we have a lot of powerhouses in our ensemble.

0:29:26 > 0:29:29On the volume front, I don't think we'll struggle.

0:29:37 > 0:29:40Performing their Showstopper, a Jackson 5 medley,

0:31:38 > 0:31:40CHEERING

0:31:42 > 0:31:46# Sometimes I feel like throwing my hands up in the air

0:31:47 > 0:31:50# I know I can count on you

0:31:50 > 0:31:53# Sometimes I feel like saying

0:31:53 > 0:31:55# Lord, I just don't care

0:31:55 > 0:31:59# You've got the love I need to see me through

0:31:59 > 0:32:03# Sometimes it seems the going is just too rough

0:32:03 > 0:32:04Whoo!

0:32:04 > 0:32:06# And things go wrong no matter what I do

0:32:06 > 0:32:08# Oh

0:32:08 > 0:32:12# Now and then I feel like life is just too much

0:33:03 > 0:33:08# You've got the love I need to see me through. #

0:33:08 > 0:33:11CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:33:24 > 0:33:27Everything is goose-bumping around my area.

0:33:27 > 0:33:29LAUGHTER Everything is goose-bumping.

0:33:29 > 0:33:34Kelly, often in a sort of girl/lady group,

0:33:34 > 0:33:38there's maybe one that you sense maybe isn't singing that much,

0:33:38 > 0:33:40or is there for the dancing.

0:33:40 > 0:33:43This is like having six Adeles in a group, Kelly.

0:33:43 > 0:33:47How did you find that?

0:33:47 > 0:33:48Just an absolute joy.

0:33:48 > 0:33:52A joy to work with such wonderful people and talented singers.

0:33:52 > 0:33:53It's just, yeah, wonderful.

0:33:53 > 0:33:59Now, London International Gospel Choir, that was sensational.

0:33:59 > 0:34:01CHEERING

0:34:01 > 0:34:02Could you sense, Josephine,

0:34:02 > 0:34:06how much the audience just loved your performance?

0:34:06 > 0:34:08Yes. Thank you so much, guys.

0:34:08 > 0:34:09It's so amazing.

0:34:09 > 0:34:12CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:34:14 > 0:34:17What's it like, singing in the choir - can you sum it up?

0:34:17 > 0:34:20Well, I love the inclusivity of the choir, you know, we're non-audition,

0:34:20 > 0:34:23we welcome people of all sorts of levels and abilities

0:34:23 > 0:34:25and I really feel like we're a family.

0:34:25 > 0:34:27Bring it in, bring it in.

0:34:27 > 0:34:30APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:34:33 > 0:34:35That is so nice.

0:34:35 > 0:34:38Listen, I hope this will translate

0:34:38 > 0:34:40to the old judgingtons up on the desk.

0:34:40 > 0:34:43So, Bebe, from gospel to '80s soul,

0:34:43 > 0:34:45who's got your love?

0:34:45 > 0:34:47London International Gospel Choir.

0:34:47 > 0:34:51I love the fact that anyone can join and...Kha, where are you?

0:34:51 > 0:34:52Kha's in there.

0:34:52 > 0:34:57Kha, can I put you in my pocket and take you home? Can you sing to me?

0:34:57 > 0:34:59I'm ready to go.

0:34:59 > 0:35:01LAUGHTER

0:35:01 > 0:35:03- CHEERING - So cute.

0:35:04 > 0:35:06The only thing that...

0:35:06 > 0:35:09I just felt like I wanted a little bit more soul,

0:35:09 > 0:35:10you know, for a gospel choir.

0:35:10 > 0:35:13Like, you guys are so dope, the harmonies are great,

0:35:13 > 0:35:15I love the energy - just break through!

0:35:15 > 0:35:18- Break through.- Songbird Sessions.

0:35:18 > 0:35:20Each and every one of you has amazing vocals.

0:35:20 > 0:35:23You guys kind of could be like a pop group.

0:35:23 > 0:35:24Like, I really believe that.

0:35:24 > 0:35:26- Thank you, Bebe.- Now, Kelis.

0:35:26 > 0:35:29All the glitter and the sequence, you guys are...

0:35:29 > 0:35:31That's my thing, so I felt right at home.

0:35:31 > 0:35:34Did it take you back to your days in a choir?

0:35:34 > 0:35:36Well, first of all I think the energy's fantastic.

0:35:36 > 0:35:39Feels very all-inclusive and I think it's really warm

0:35:39 > 0:35:42and it really comes off, especially because you are a gospel choir.

0:35:42 > 0:35:43I love that element.

0:35:43 > 0:35:45The one note that I would have agreeing with Bebe

0:35:45 > 0:35:47is that it's missing a little bit

0:35:47 > 0:35:49of the kind of grind and grunge that I want.

0:35:49 > 0:35:51That kind of like guttural sound

0:35:51 > 0:35:54that we know gospel kind of lends to.

0:35:54 > 0:35:57I think the gospel breakout at that end, that's like...

0:35:57 > 0:35:59I was in a group in church,

0:35:59 > 0:36:01so if you're going to go there, like, go there.

0:36:01 > 0:36:03Do you know what I mean? Like, commit and go all the way.

0:36:03 > 0:36:06But it's exciting to watch you guys, I can't wait to see what's next.

0:36:06 > 0:36:09- Yes.- And then, Songbirds, you guys are really exciting.

0:36:09 > 0:36:12You do make me feel like I was in a mirror when I was,

0:36:12 > 0:36:13like, 12, singing in Vogue

0:36:13 > 0:36:15and all these other wonderful '90s groups,

0:36:15 > 0:36:17so I love, love, love that.

0:36:17 > 0:36:20You do feel like a bunch of soloists that are together,

0:36:20 > 0:36:22but yet it's a really nice blend.

0:36:22 > 0:36:24I love the dynamics, I love the getting quiet,

0:36:24 > 0:36:25I love the eye contact.

0:36:25 > 0:36:27All in all, I'm in.

0:36:28 > 0:36:30I'm sitting here bursting, sitting on my hands.

0:36:30 > 0:36:33- Come on, Gareth. Give it to us, Gareth.- I loved that - both of you.

0:36:33 > 0:36:36It was so exciting, it was great.

0:36:36 > 0:36:39We've got community here, and I find that incredibly moving.

0:36:39 > 0:36:42I just see so many different backgrounds. Absolutely loving it.

0:36:42 > 0:36:46There's another gear, because in gospel you need that "nyaaaah!",

0:36:46 > 0:36:47that commitment to the sound.

0:36:47 > 0:36:49- Not that one.- Not... You know.

0:36:49 > 0:36:52You need that element in the vocal sound that really cuts and bites,

0:36:52 > 0:36:55and I think that's what we're all missing up here.

0:36:55 > 0:36:57So, in the Riff-Off, take the roof off.

0:36:57 > 0:36:58And, Songbird Sessions,

0:36:58 > 0:37:01I just thought it was excellent, really good.

0:37:01 > 0:37:03And what I'm always interested in in a group is how,

0:37:03 > 0:37:06when you're not singing, how are you supporting the whole,

0:37:06 > 0:37:10and I'm watching people who are absolutely loving the other people.

0:37:10 > 0:37:11There was exemplary support.

0:37:11 > 0:37:15You worked with the band, our amazing band up here.

0:37:15 > 0:37:17What I want to see now

0:37:17 > 0:37:19is how you take that very specific sound

0:37:19 > 0:37:22into a range of music in the Riff-Off,

0:37:22 > 0:37:23and I think you've got a tough job,

0:37:23 > 0:37:25because bigger groups, I think,

0:37:25 > 0:37:28are maybe slightly better suited to the Riff-Off.

0:37:28 > 0:37:31Ah, OK. One group is about to be knocked out of the competition.

0:37:31 > 0:37:35The other will face All The King's Men in tonight's Solo Battles.

0:37:35 > 0:37:39Deciding their fate is the ever-dramatic Riff-Off.

0:37:39 > 0:37:41WHOOPING AND CHEERING

0:37:43 > 0:37:47'This show was recorded before the Grenfell Tower tragedy,

0:37:47 > 0:37:50'and the theme of this Riff-Off was Fire.

0:37:50 > 0:37:51'Due to some of the lyrics,

0:37:51 > 0:37:54'we feel it would be insensitive to show it in full.

0:37:54 > 0:37:57'Both of our lovely choirs fully support this decision.'

0:37:57 > 0:38:00# When the light started up

0:38:00 > 0:38:02# They don't know what they heard... #

0:38:02 > 0:38:06# Satisfaction

0:38:06 > 0:38:08# Ooh ooh-ooh

0:38:08 > 0:38:10# Came in a chain reaction... #

0:38:10 > 0:38:14# I'll be where the eagle's flying higher and higher

0:38:14 > 0:38:16# Gonna be your bird in motion

0:38:16 > 0:38:18# All I need is a pair of wings

0:38:18 > 0:38:20# Take me where my future's lying.... #

0:38:20 > 0:38:25# Ah, you gotta be strong enough to walk on through the night

0:38:26 > 0:38:29# There's a new day on the other side

0:38:30 > 0:38:33# Oh, you gotta have hope in your soul

0:38:33 > 0:38:35- # Gotta have hope - Just keep on working

0:38:35 > 0:38:38# Keep on working, baby

0:38:38 > 0:38:42# And let it shine

0:38:42 > 0:38:46# Just own the night

0:38:46 > 0:38:49# Like the fourth of July... #

0:38:49 > 0:38:54# Knew that that was the last time

0:38:54 > 0:38:56# Last time... #

0:38:56 > 0:38:59CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:39:06 > 0:39:12Now, Caz, I spotted there some genuine Riff-Offery behaviour.

0:39:12 > 0:39:14There was a bit of that going on,

0:39:14 > 0:39:16there was a little bit of that.

0:39:16 > 0:39:18Did you have a real sense of competition?

0:39:18 > 0:39:21All in good jest, yeah. Yeah. We did, yeah.

0:39:21 > 0:39:23That's the purpose of a riff battle, I think,

0:39:23 > 0:39:25you've got to go for it, d'you know what I mean?

0:39:25 > 0:39:28And they gave it to us as good as we gave it to them, so, happy days.

0:39:28 > 0:39:30CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:39:30 > 0:39:32Well done, Songbirds.

0:39:32 > 0:39:35Kha. CHEERING

0:39:37 > 0:39:41Gareth talked about going into a different gear.

0:39:41 > 0:39:46Did your "Kha" go into a different gear, Kha?

0:39:46 > 0:39:48Definitely.

0:39:48 > 0:39:50Together we bring the power and the passion.

0:39:50 > 0:39:52CHEERING

0:39:52 > 0:39:55Thus speaks Kha.

0:39:55 > 0:40:00- Kelis.- I mean, wow, you guys are so much fun to watch -

0:40:00 > 0:40:05and when I say you guys, I mean London International Gospel Choir.

0:40:05 > 0:40:06You guys pulled it out of the bag,

0:40:06 > 0:40:09I really feel like you listen to instruction,

0:40:09 > 0:40:11it was really, really exciting to watch. I love it.

0:40:11 > 0:40:15And then, my Songbirds, you are technically so on point,

0:40:15 > 0:40:17there's really nothing that I can pick out.

0:40:17 > 0:40:19It was seamless, really good.

0:40:19 > 0:40:21Wow. Well done, the Sessions.

0:40:21 > 0:40:23It's going to be really hard. It's hard.

0:40:23 > 0:40:25Gareth, did anybody up here on stage

0:40:25 > 0:40:28really take their performance from Showstopper

0:40:28 > 0:40:31into that extra gear that you were talking about?

0:40:31 > 0:40:33Yes, but I am on the horns of a dilemma with this.

0:40:33 > 0:40:36I thought both groups had significant merits.

0:40:36 > 0:40:40I thought the solos in London International Gospel Choir

0:40:40 > 0:40:44during that Riff-Off were just stellar, really, really exciting.

0:40:44 > 0:40:46- Great job, guys. - CHEERING

0:40:46 > 0:40:49Well done. Well done, my love.

0:40:49 > 0:40:52You know, but I've got to hand it to the Songbirds,

0:40:52 > 0:40:55because you create this lovely block harmony,

0:40:55 > 0:40:58and that's your sound, you kept that all the way through,

0:40:58 > 0:40:59and it was very, very tight,

0:40:59 > 0:41:03and you know how much I like tightness, we discussed earlier.

0:41:03 > 0:41:06I'm going to find this one an extremely difficult decision.

0:41:06 > 0:41:08Bebe, let's turn to you.

0:41:08 > 0:41:11Did you feel that one group had it over the other?

0:41:11 > 0:41:13They were both amazing but I also thought

0:41:13 > 0:41:17that the London International Gospel Choir brought it.

0:41:17 > 0:41:19They did.

0:41:19 > 0:41:21CHEERING

0:41:23 > 0:41:27OK, so now I want to take Kha and Zami home, both you guys.

0:41:27 > 0:41:30- But you have to sing to me all day. - LAUGHTER

0:41:30 > 0:41:33- And dance.- And that dancing, cos that dancing was amazing.

0:41:33 > 0:41:35What about the Songbird Sessions, Bebe?

0:41:35 > 0:41:38There was better solos in the London International Gospel Choir

0:41:38 > 0:41:41than there was on the Songbird Sessions,

0:41:41 > 0:41:43but overall their harmonies are tighter

0:41:43 > 0:41:46than the London International Gospel Choir.

0:41:46 > 0:41:49They were both amazing. I don't know. I don't know.

0:41:49 > 0:41:50Ah!

0:41:50 > 0:41:54Only one of these groups will go through to tonight's Solo Battles.

0:41:57 > 0:41:59Kelis, which group would you like to see

0:41:59 > 0:42:03going through to the next round, which is the Solo Battles?

0:42:06 > 0:42:11I have to say that, as much as I absolutely love you guys,

0:42:11 > 0:42:13I still had to go with the Songbirds,

0:42:13 > 0:42:16you guys are technically what I was looking for...

0:42:16 > 0:42:18- Songbird Sessions.- ..absolutely.

0:42:18 > 0:42:21There's a lot of potential there, I love that.

0:42:23 > 0:42:24Bebe, which group do you think

0:42:24 > 0:42:27deserves a place in tonight's Solo Battles?

0:42:27 > 0:42:29Erm...

0:42:31 > 0:42:33I have to go with my heart,

0:50:21 > 0:50:23CHEERING

0:50:24 > 0:50:27I don't know what that bit was,

0:50:27 > 0:50:29but I hope my bit wasn't too offensively bad.

0:50:29 > 0:50:32Perfect. "Thank you very much" was what I said.

0:50:32 > 0:50:35It's really lovely. Thank you so much for that amazing performance.

0:50:35 > 0:50:39All the way from Aberystwyth. You've brought your supporters with you.

0:50:39 > 0:50:43A legion! They've got T-shirts, dragons, scarves

0:50:43 > 0:50:45and a lot of good vibes with them. Amazing.

0:50:45 > 0:50:50Now, Gareth, from beatboxing to the beautiful Valleys,

0:50:50 > 0:50:52very, very different groups...

0:50:52 > 0:50:54This is why I got into choirs in the first place,

0:50:54 > 0:50:57is people coming together to sing and have a sense of community

0:50:57 > 0:50:59and friendship, and I love that about you.

0:50:59 > 0:51:02I'd like you to make sure that you're not over-singing

0:51:02 > 0:51:05into those microphones and losing your finesse.

0:51:05 > 0:51:06But a really, really solid start.

0:51:06 > 0:51:094Tune Tellers and Kimmy, I thought it was brave.

0:51:09 > 0:51:12It's very different from everything else we've seen in this contest,

0:51:12 > 0:51:14and that was really exciting.

0:51:14 > 0:51:17When something new comes along, we often think it's crazy.

0:51:17 > 0:51:21Dark chocolate with sea salt - I thought they were mad, but no.

0:51:21 > 0:51:23Bebe, what were your thoughts?

0:51:23 > 0:51:25- It's Sgarmes, right?- Sgarmes.

0:51:25 > 0:51:28In the Riff-Off, I would just like a little bit more dynamic.

0:51:28 > 0:51:31I was in a choir in high school and what I learned is,

0:51:31 > 0:51:34you've got to listen to the other...the altos and sopranos.

0:51:34 > 0:51:37You've got to blend with them and then you can work on the dynamics.

0:51:37 > 0:51:40When you say "dynamic", Bebe, is that a vocal thing?

0:51:40 > 0:51:43Getting really loud, crescendo-ing and de-crescendo-ing,

0:51:43 > 0:51:46- like, getting softer.- OK. - It's just being loud -

0:51:46 > 0:51:48# I'm on the edge of... #

0:51:48 > 0:51:51- It could be...- SOFTER: - # I'm on the edge of glory. #

0:51:51 > 0:51:53Like, coming in with harmonies and stuff like that.

0:51:53 > 0:51:56- I absolutely agree.- Cos I feel like you guys did a lot of unison.

0:51:56 > 0:51:59- OK.- Yeah.- When you came in with the harmonies, it felt really cool.

0:51:59 > 0:52:01And then the 4Tune Tellers and Kimmy,

0:52:01 > 0:52:06here you guys are with the guitar, Kimmy's beatboxing on the speaker,

0:52:06 > 0:52:09- and you should give Kimmy a solo. - Yeah.

0:52:09 > 0:52:11- I want solo Kimmy.- I totally agree.

0:52:11 > 0:52:13I think you're like a rock star. I want a moment with Kimmy.

0:52:13 > 0:52:15Thank you, judges.

0:52:15 > 0:52:19Now, one group is about to be knocked out of tonight's contest.

0:52:19 > 0:52:22The other will join All The King's Men and Songbird Sessions

0:52:22 > 0:52:24in the Solo Battles.

0:52:24 > 0:52:28The only thing standing in their way is the Riff-Off.

0:52:28 > 0:52:30CHEERING

0:56:31 > 0:56:34CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:56:41 > 0:56:45That was a great Riff-Off, but deceptively challenging.

0:56:45 > 0:56:48When you think about anger, you think about yelling,

0:56:48 > 0:56:50and you can't yell in perfect harmony,

0:56:50 > 0:56:53so on one side we had Kimmy and the 4Tune Tellers

0:56:53 > 0:56:56driving with rock vocals, getting close to that yelling sound

0:56:56 > 0:56:59but still holding on this side to lock those harmonies,

0:56:59 > 0:57:02but did they lock them tight enough? On the other side,

0:57:02 > 0:57:05we had our Welsh friends with rich harmonies

0:57:05 > 0:57:07and all kinds of cheeky humour in there,

0:57:07 > 0:57:10but did it get angry enough for the judges?

0:57:10 > 0:57:13- This one could go either way, Mel. - Now, 4Tune Tellers and Kimmy,

0:57:13 > 0:57:15Kimmy, I've got to ask you, specifically,

0:57:15 > 0:57:20I'm a 48-year-old perimenopausal lady from Leatherhead.

0:57:20 > 0:57:22Is it too late for me

0:57:22 > 0:57:27- to have a go at the art of beatboxer-y?- Absolutely not.

0:57:27 > 0:57:29- Let's do it now.- Seriously?

0:57:29 > 0:57:31CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:57:31 > 0:57:33Come on. How?

0:57:55 > 0:57:59Thank you very much, Kimmy. That was great. Well done, all of you.

0:57:59 > 0:58:03Superb! Now, Sgarmes, I sensed, in that performance there,

0:58:03 > 0:58:07in the Riff-Off, that you were fired up, weren't you?

0:58:07 > 0:58:10Yeah. You know, we listened to all your lovely comments

0:58:10 > 0:58:12and constructive criticism as well,

0:58:12 > 0:58:15and we just tried to get everything in!

0:58:29 > 0:58:32I think you guys are great singers but I don't love the harmonies.

0:58:32 > 0:58:35The reason why I feel like I'm in love with your group

0:58:35 > 0:58:38is because of Kimmy. I'm sorry, I feel like it should be

0:58:38 > 0:58:41Kimmy and the 4Tune Tellers because there is something so cool

0:58:55 > 0:58:58It's a little bit stronger as a group.

0:58:58 > 0:59:01I think there's pitch problems. I don't think it's perfection.

0:59:01 > 0:59:05But I think they were stronger in the Riff-Off round as a whole.

0:59:05 > 0:59:08Kelis, was there pitch perfect in that Riff-Off?

0:59:08 > 0:59:12Cry Me A River for 4Tune Tellers was a standout moment for me,

0:59:35 > 0:59:36I thought that was great.

1:12:28 > 1:12:31really special. Very well done, guys. Loved it.

1:12:31 > 1:12:32WHOOPING

1:12:36 > 1:12:38Songbird, every time you open your mouths

1:12:38 > 1:12:40it's just honey pouring out of it.

1:12:40 > 1:12:42- Aw.- I really love the sound that you make. It's really great.

1:12:42 > 1:12:45I think, actually, there are things about you

1:12:45 > 1:12:47that are verging on perfection.

1:12:47 > 1:12:50The timing's really good, the tuning is really good.

1:12:50 > 1:12:52I thought that was very, very exciting.

1:12:52 > 1:12:56And finally, I've just written one word for Sgarmes.

1:12:56 > 1:12:59Wow. That was just absolutely great.

1:12:59 > 1:13:00WHOOPING

1:13:03 > 1:13:07Because, for me, it had the Welsh choir sensibility

1:13:07 > 1:13:10and then you had that solo. It was great.

1:13:10 > 1:13:13And you know what? It wasn't as perfect in tuning terms,

1:13:13 > 1:13:16it wasn't as perfect as the girls in the middle.

1:13:16 > 1:13:19- Some tenors were a little bit flat. - I don't agree at all.

1:13:19 > 1:13:21It was. But it doesn't really matter

1:13:21 > 1:13:24because it's not ultimately why we go to see a performance.

1:13:24 > 1:13:27- We don't agree with you.- Well, I'm right!

1:13:27 > 1:13:29Lads, come on, simmer down.

1:13:29 > 1:13:32But, really, we don't care. We don't care

1:13:32 > 1:13:35because when you deliver a moment of special magic like that,

1:13:35 > 1:13:37it goes straight to the heart,

1:13:37 > 1:13:41- so very, very well done.- Well done, Kedma. Well done, all the soloists.

1:13:42 > 1:13:46- Now, Kelis.- OK. Kedma, I have to stand and tell you this.

1:13:46 > 1:13:47Amazing!

1:13:47 > 1:13:49Fantastic!

1:13:49 > 1:13:54Absolutely game changing. And you know what?

1:13:54 > 1:13:57I'm in love, like, love, love, love,

1:13:57 > 1:14:00and every choir needs a leader, and you guys found yours.

1:14:00 > 1:14:04And I do not agree with Gareth. I think it was pitch perfect,

1:14:04 > 1:14:08everything about it was exactly what I wanted.

1:14:08 > 1:14:11Exactly what I wanted. So good. So good.

1:14:11 > 1:14:14The Welsh posse are very pleased with that, Kelis...

1:14:14 > 1:14:16Yeah, I mean like...amazing.

1:14:16 > 1:14:18Now, on to Songbird Sessions, Kelis.

1:14:18 > 1:14:22OK. Now, I loved the vibe, I loved how individual you all are

1:14:22 > 1:14:27and how it really came together. Harmoniously, it was beautiful.

1:14:27 > 1:14:30I will say that I was a little bit underwhelmed

1:14:30 > 1:14:33with your solo. I don't know, there was something that wasn't grabbing.

1:14:33 > 1:14:37I think we felt a little bit of nerves maybe hindered

1:14:37 > 1:14:39or maybe distracted a little bit.

1:14:39 > 1:14:42- All The King's Men.- That was a stellar performance.

1:14:42 > 1:14:44It really was.

1:14:44 > 1:14:47You guys are perfect. Well done.

1:14:47 > 1:14:49No doubt about it.

1:14:49 > 1:14:52APPLAUSE DROWNS SPEECH

1:14:52 > 1:14:55But overall, it felt like, wow, you guys... Yeah.

1:14:55 > 1:14:58- I'm just going to disagree with you there!- I don't care.

1:14:58 > 1:14:59I'm standing.

1:14:59 > 1:15:01Thank you so much, Kelis.

1:15:01 > 1:15:03And finally, Bebe.

1:15:03 > 1:15:06I'm going to start with All The King's Men.

1:15:06 > 1:15:07I would pay to watch you guys.

1:15:07 > 1:15:10Like, I would give you my...

1:15:10 > 1:15:12CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

1:15:14 > 1:15:16I think your harmonies were great.

1:15:16 > 1:15:18I think Robert, to be completely honest,

1:15:18 > 1:15:20it wasn't like, the strongest vocal...soloist performance.

1:15:20 > 1:15:24But at one point I forgot that you guys are an a cappella group.

1:15:24 > 1:15:26- I thought I was hearing music. - That's true.- So, amazing job.

1:15:26 > 1:15:30Songbird Sessions... I'd have to agree with Kelis.

1:15:30 > 1:15:32When you guys came out, I was like, "Oh, my gosh."

1:15:32 > 1:15:34You know, you blew my mind,

1:15:34 > 1:15:36and then just the solo part,

1:15:36 > 1:15:38I just felt kind of let down.

1:15:38 > 1:15:40There was no dynamic to it.

1:15:40 > 1:15:44And as for Sgarmes, Kedma, that was... I agree with Kelis again.

1:15:44 > 1:15:47It was insane. You come in singing that high note at the end,

1:15:47 > 1:15:51I'm like, "Damn." Maybe you should be sitting here.

1:15:51 > 1:15:54CHEERING

1:15:54 > 1:15:56The Welsh are in the house!

1:15:56 > 1:15:59I wish you guys all the best of luck.

1:15:59 > 1:16:02You are, honestly, all amazing, for real. Thank you.

1:16:02 > 1:16:04Oh, lovely comments from the judges.

1:16:06 > 1:16:10Judges, I'd like you please to decide the two groups

1:16:10 > 1:16:14that you would like to take into the final battle.

1:16:24 > 1:16:26Judges, please tell us

1:16:26 > 1:16:30the first group that you would like to see go through to

1:16:30 > 1:16:31the final battle.

1:16:32 > 1:16:35Mel, the first group that we're going to put through

1:16:35 > 1:16:37to the final battle...

1:16:38 > 1:16:41Difficult decision, this one, really tough, but it's...

1:16:41 > 1:16:44All The King's Men.

1:16:44 > 1:16:45CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

1:17:07 > 1:17:10which group you're going to send through?

1:17:10 > 1:17:11Sgarmes!

1:17:11 > 1:17:12CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

1:17:24 > 1:17:27Oh, Songbird Sesh,

1:18:01 > 1:18:04They will share the same song,

1:18:04 > 1:18:06taking it in turns to out-sing each other.

1:18:20 > 1:18:22to the live final.

1:18:22 > 1:18:26And our groups are going to be singing Bebe Rexha's

1:18:26 > 1:18:28summer dance smash Take Me Home.

1:18:28 > 1:18:31Now, Bebe, what would you say to the groups now

1:18:31 > 1:18:34who are about to perform this song that you just live and breathe?

1:18:34 > 1:18:37I think use your diaphragm, it's really high.

1:18:37 > 1:18:40So instead of breathing like, oh, you'd breathe from the stomach.

1:18:40 > 1:18:43- Oh!- No, no. Push out your stomach. Your belly.

1:18:43 > 1:18:45What...what's going on?!

1:18:45 > 1:18:47OK.

1:18:47 > 1:18:52Now, Gareth, this is going to be a monumentally tough choice, isn't it?

1:18:52 > 1:18:55Very, very difficult. Two really interesting groups.

1:18:55 > 1:18:58I'm going to take everything that I've seen tonight

1:18:58 > 1:19:01into account when I'm making the decision, along with
