0:00:40 > 0:00:41LAUGHTER

0:00:41 > 0:00:43..which is weird, cos I didn't put any in.

0:00:43 > 0:00:46And it's also the fourth Sunday in Lent, and the Archbishop of York

0:00:46 > 0:00:52finds out why one girl gave up all her savings to buy a big purple bus.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04We have some lovely music for you today,

0:01:08 > 0:01:11so perfect for Mothering Sunday.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Right, open your arms out, so...

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Lorraine Jones is a mum with many talents.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47She has seven children and is a pastor in her church.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Three years ago she would never have imagined she'd also be

0:03:50 > 0:03:52running a boxing gym.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54ROCK MUSIC

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Lorraine and her family live in Angell Town in Brixton.

0:03:57 > 0:03:58In the past,

0:03:58 > 0:04:00the area has had a lot of problems with youth violence

0:04:00 > 0:04:06and, in 2014, Lorraine's son Dwayne was killed on the street.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09- This is my home.- Uh-huh.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11And there's all my children here.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16- And these are the pictures... of Dwayne.- Yes.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18- 20 years old.- Yes, yeah.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20That's so young.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22He was very fit.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25- But very humorous... - Yeah, you can see he's smiling...

0:04:25 > 0:04:28You can see it in all his pictures, he's smiling.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30How did you find out?

0:04:30 > 0:04:34I literally saw Dwayne 45 minutes before the incident.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38I just popped to the shops, got back, unpacked the shopping.

0:04:38 > 0:04:40Two of his friends knocked the door

0:04:40 > 0:04:45and said, "Mum, Mum, Dwayne's been stabbed." I said, "Is it serious?"

0:04:45 > 0:04:47They said, "Yes, Mum." I said, "Do I need my car?"

0:04:47 > 0:04:50They said, "No, Mum, it's just over there,"

0:04:50 > 0:04:53pointing just literally about five minutes from here.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Dwayne had seen a young boy that he knew being chased

0:04:57 > 0:05:00by a man with a knife and had run to help,

0:05:00 > 0:05:04but he himself was attacked and fatally wounded.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06The place where he fell has been turned into

0:05:06 > 0:05:09a memorial by the local community.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12The ribbons just bring me comfort.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16It's where Dwayne was tragically struck down,

0:05:16 > 0:05:18but it's a place that has become beautiful.

0:05:18 > 0:05:22What is it that held you together through this?

0:05:25 > 0:05:27I was helpless.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32But I felt a strong presence...

0:05:32 > 0:05:35of the Holy Spirit.

0:05:35 > 0:05:36Peace.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41And it's like I shifted into gear,

0:05:41 > 0:05:45the gear of faith, strength and hope.

0:05:46 > 0:05:51God has held me together and is holding us all together

0:05:51 > 0:05:55as a family and as a community.

0:05:57 > 0:06:01Lorraine wanted to do something to preserve Dwayne's memory.

0:06:01 > 0:06:06- I didn't realise the extent of what he was doing until he died.- Yeah.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09He was working with the young people, doing the training

0:06:09 > 0:06:10and boxing,

0:06:10 > 0:06:15he was mentoring, he was motivating a lot of the young,

0:06:15 > 0:06:18young boys, especially those that had come out of prison.

0:06:18 > 0:06:21I was filled with compassion.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25And I said, "OK, I'm going to set this up again."

0:06:26 > 0:06:27And the help came from...

0:06:27 > 0:06:29all over.

0:06:31 > 0:06:35Lorraine worked closely with the local police to set up Dwaynamics.

0:06:35 > 0:06:40It's a boxing gym for all ages, here in the heart of Brixton.

0:06:40 > 0:06:42It's like family here.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44And to help young people get off of the streets,

0:06:44 > 0:06:48- I think it's really great. - I think she's amazing.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51She is probably one of the most inspiring people

0:06:51 > 0:06:54I've ever met in my life.

0:06:54 > 0:06:58It's important, because children are our future.

0:06:58 > 0:07:02And what we invest in them is exactly what we will get back.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06She wanted to build better relationships with the police

0:07:06 > 0:07:09and the community and she wanted to help young people,

0:07:09 > 0:07:11and that's what drew us together to try and do that.

0:07:11 > 0:07:12Is it making a difference?

0:07:12 > 0:07:15I think it is, because once they're in here, they're working with

0:07:15 > 0:07:18positive role models, including the police officers that give up

0:07:18 > 0:07:20their own time to come down here and help.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22And then this leads to other things.

0:07:22 > 0:07:26What you're seeing here is what Dwayne had a passion about,

0:07:26 > 0:07:30to bring the community together in the midst of youth violence

0:07:30 > 0:07:32that has been happening in Lambeth for many years.

0:07:32 > 0:07:36Most of the young men and women on the estate refer to her as Mum,

0:07:36 > 0:07:39because she's seen as a community leader, so she's a mum to everyone.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41You've trained as well, haven't you?

0:07:41 > 0:07:46Yes, in fact my whole life has taken a different direction!

0:07:46 > 0:07:49I'm a qualified boxing tutor now, David.

0:07:49 > 0:07:52- So you're a punching preacher? - Yes, a punching preacher!

0:07:52 > 0:07:54THEY LAUGH

0:09:24 > 0:09:25# Shine your light. #

0:09:51 > 0:09:54# Saviour... #

0:10:34 > 0:10:36CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:10:43 > 0:10:46Now it's time for the second in our series for Lent

0:10:46 > 0:10:50from our very special guest the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52He's interviewed three remarkable women

0:10:52 > 0:10:55whose faith he's found particularly inspiring.

0:10:57 > 0:10:59The Almighty has his own plan for us

0:10:59 > 0:11:04and we all know he moves in mysterious ways

0:11:04 > 0:11:05but, for one young woman,

0:11:05 > 0:11:09that meant giving up her savings to buy a big, purple bus.

0:11:11 > 0:11:1525-year-old Emily Finch has an indomitable spirit

0:11:15 > 0:11:19and she's following what she believes is a calling from God.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23Student Emily created a charity,

0:11:23 > 0:11:26enabling churches to build relationships with young people.

0:11:27 > 0:11:31Instead of a church hall, this is a youth club on wheels.

0:11:34 > 0:11:38I'm...wondering in my brain, you know, what made you think

0:11:38 > 0:11:41particularly that God was calling you and calling you to sink

0:11:41 > 0:11:45- all your money into a second-hand bus?!- Yeah, it's so true!

0:11:45 > 0:11:47I've had a lot of questions about that.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50I think a bus because it's mobile

0:11:50 > 0:11:53and we're helping local churches do youth work.

0:11:53 > 0:11:57- So, you spent all your savings? - Yeah.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00It was the money that my lovely parents put aside,

0:12:00 > 0:12:03probably to go towards a deposit on a house, or something like that.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05Is it paying any dividends?

0:12:05 > 0:12:07It definitely is paying dividends.

0:12:07 > 0:12:11We've seen amazing things happen in young people's lives

0:12:11 > 0:12:13and they say that the bus is like their second home.

0:12:13 > 0:12:17Most of the young people who come on our bus aren't Christian,

0:12:17 > 0:12:21but the fact that we're Christians doesn't seem to bother them at all.

0:12:21 > 0:12:24They know that we're there for them if they want to talk about God,

0:12:24 > 0:12:26but also we don't have to talk about God.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29We love them wherever they're at in life.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32Have you ever had experience of young people coming there

0:12:32 > 0:12:35and as soon as you start talking about praying, talking about God,

0:12:35 > 0:12:37they say, "Oh, my goodness!"?

0:12:37 > 0:12:38Oh, all the time! Yeah!

0:12:38 > 0:12:41But often they... they end up loving it.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44I think they love that we talk about the real things in life.

0:12:44 > 0:12:49We had a boy on recently and we were doing, like, a prayer activity,

0:12:49 > 0:12:52and it was listing the things that you are good at, your good

0:12:52 > 0:12:56qualities that God has given you, and he said, "I've got nothing."

0:12:56 > 0:13:00And so many of our young people don't believe they've got any worth

0:13:00 > 0:13:03and it's such a privilege to walk alongside them

0:13:03 > 0:13:06and show them that, in God's eyes, they are so loved

0:13:06 > 0:13:08and they are precious to him.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11The theme for today is thinking about hopes...

0:13:11 > 0:13:13our hopes and dreams for the future.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16And so what I want to say is dream big,

0:13:16 > 0:13:18and I think all of these things,

0:13:18 > 0:13:20God has so much greater plans than we can imagine.

0:13:21 > 0:13:25The bus is the most recent thing that I've trusted God in.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28It wasn't going from no faith to suddenly being like,

0:13:28 > 0:13:29"I'm going to buy a bus,"

0:13:29 > 0:13:31there was lots of other things that I trusted in him.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34Yeah, as they say, you know, little drops of water,

0:13:34 > 0:13:37if a lot of them keep coming, keep coming,

0:13:37 > 0:13:40- eventually they will turn a water wheel, won't they?- Yeah.

0:13:41 > 0:13:44I've seen people's lives change and that's been the most

0:13:44 > 0:13:47incredible thing, to witness that, to just see God at work,

0:13:47 > 0:13:49and that is the best job that I could ever have,

0:13:49 > 0:13:51so, yeah, it's changed my life.

0:13:51 > 0:13:53So, how do you see your future?

0:13:53 > 0:13:57- A career in public transport maybe? - Ooh, um... I'm not sure!

0:13:57 > 0:13:59At the moment, the charity is growing massively,

0:13:59 > 0:14:01which is really exciting

0:14:01 > 0:14:05and I imagine I'm going to be doing the bus for quite a bit longer.

0:14:06 > 0:14:07HORN BEEPS

0:14:11 > 0:14:15# Praise is rising

0:14:15 > 0:14:21# Eyes are turning to you

0:14:22 > 0:14:25# We turn to you

0:14:28 > 0:14:32# Hope is stirring

0:14:32 > 0:14:37# Hearts are yearning for you

0:14:39 > 0:14:41# We long for you

0:14:43 > 0:14:50# When we see you we find strength to face the day

0:14:52 > 0:14:58# In your presence all our fears are washed away

0:14:58 > 0:15:01# Washed away

0:15:01 > 0:15:05# Hosanna

0:15:05 > 0:15:09# Hosanna

0:15:09 > 0:15:13# You are the God who saves us

0:15:13 > 0:15:17# Worthy of all our praises

0:15:17 > 0:15:22# Hosanna

0:15:22 > 0:15:26# Hosanna

0:15:26 > 0:15:30# Come have your way among us

0:15:30 > 0:15:34# We welcome you here, Lord Jesus

0:15:37 > 0:15:41# Hear the sound of

0:15:41 > 0:15:46# Hearts returning to you

0:15:48 > 0:15:51# We turn to you

0:15:54 > 0:15:58# In your kingdom

0:15:58 > 0:16:03# Broken lives are made new

0:16:05 > 0:16:08# You make us new

0:16:10 > 0:16:16# When we see you we find strength to face the day

0:16:18 > 0:16:24# In your presence all our fears are washed away

0:16:24 > 0:16:27# Washed away

0:16:27 > 0:16:31# Hosanna

0:16:31 > 0:16:35# Hosanna

0:16:35 > 0:16:39# You are the God who saves us

0:16:39 > 0:16:44# Worthy of all our praises

0:16:44 > 0:16:49# Hosanna

0:16:49 > 0:16:52# Hosanna

0:16:52 > 0:16:56# Come have your way among us

0:16:56 > 0:17:01# We welcome you here, Lord Jesus

0:17:03 > 0:17:07# Hosanna. #

0:17:15 > 0:17:18Comic Relief was launched on Christmas Day, 1985

0:17:18 > 0:17:21and since then has raised billions,

0:17:21 > 0:17:24supporting projects across the UK and the world.

0:17:24 > 0:17:28Josie d'Arby has been to one scheme being cooked up in Somerset.

0:17:29 > 0:17:33It's a cookery course run by Methodist teacher Jacquelene Seel,

0:17:33 > 0:17:35where it's only men allowed.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38I think, uh, 170...

0:17:38 > 0:17:40Morning, everybody.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42I thought it'd be really good if we did something for Red Noses

0:17:42 > 0:17:44and I've got some little red noses, look.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47The "Men Get Cooking!" classes have been running for 16 years

0:17:47 > 0:17:50and have grown after funding from Comic Relief.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54So, Jackie, where did the idea for "Men Get Cooking!" come from?

0:17:54 > 0:17:57My Methodist background means that really I want to use all my skills

0:17:57 > 0:18:00for the good of everybody else, so...

0:18:00 > 0:18:02So why men only?

0:18:02 > 0:18:07Some wanted to just dabble, they were maybe at a low ebb.

0:18:07 > 0:18:11For example, if someone was bereaved and they were maybe having to

0:18:11 > 0:18:15get by on ready meals, and also, sometimes we had people

0:18:15 > 0:18:20who suddenly found themselves in a situation where they needed to cook.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23Yeah, cos when you try and slice that, it's going to...

0:18:23 > 0:18:28My wife, unfortunately, has a few health problems at the moment.

0:18:28 > 0:18:30I've certainly taken on more of the cooking.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34And beyond the cooking, Jackie, what-what are people telling you

0:18:34 > 0:18:38that they're getting out of it on a very personal level?

0:18:38 > 0:18:42It's so healing, really, just that humour...

0:18:42 > 0:18:45- This is turning into the most perfect quiche! - That's looking good, Sid. It is!

0:18:45 > 0:18:49We've all got stories and episodes in our life

0:18:49 > 0:18:52- where we just need somebody to help us along the way, don't we?- Yeah.

0:18:54 > 0:18:57'As it's a Comic Relief project, look who's turned up.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00'It's comedian Milton Jones.'

0:19:00 > 0:19:03- It reminds me of being in a sandpit. - Yeah!

0:19:03 > 0:19:05- Do you cook?- Uh...

0:19:05 > 0:19:09- You know Gordon Ramsay's a really good cook who swears a lot?- Yes.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12- I'm like him, only I'm not a really good cook.- Now, why is that?

0:19:12 > 0:19:16- Is it because you're a man? - No, it's because I'm incompetent.

0:19:16 > 0:19:17So what do you think about the fact

0:19:17 > 0:19:19that it's more than about just cooking?

0:19:19 > 0:19:23I think, especially for men, who find it difficult just to chat,

0:19:23 > 0:19:26and it's really useful to have something that they can do

0:19:26 > 0:19:30and talk off the back of it cos men aren't particularly good

0:19:30 > 0:19:32at opening up and just being themselves.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35The big thing for me was... was packing in work.

0:19:35 > 0:19:38After 50 years of getting up and going to work all day,

0:19:38 > 0:19:40I suddenly stop,

0:19:40 > 0:19:44and the psychological adjustment I found very hard.

0:19:44 > 0:19:45- Cos I never did much cooking.- Mm-hm.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47My wife usually did it and my mother wasn't keen

0:19:47 > 0:19:49on being interfered with in the kitchen!

0:19:49 > 0:19:52She was old school, you know, and you weren't allowed in.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55And do you think that it's important that Comic Relief,

0:19:55 > 0:19:58who fund so many things across the world,

0:19:58 > 0:20:01also recognise the need within individual communities?

0:20:01 > 0:20:05People are poor in all sorts of ways and often it's emotionally,

0:20:05 > 0:20:08and that kind of poverty is sometimes harder to see

0:20:08 > 0:20:10than, you know, not having money or food.

0:20:10 > 0:20:14- That's really good, forming good clumps now.- Yeah, I'm a natural.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16For me, it's a privilege...

0:20:16 > 0:20:19as a Christian to be walking along their journey.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23If we can help each other along, faith and life,

0:20:23 > 0:20:26we're just all in the hands of God, really, aren't we?

0:20:26 > 0:20:28'With the quiches ready,

0:20:28 > 0:20:32'it's now time for the all-important taste test.'

0:20:32 > 0:20:33I'm getting wood, I'm getting onions...

0:20:33 > 0:20:36which is weird cos I didn't put any in.

0:20:36 > 0:20:39Wow, that was good fun. What do you make of that then, Milton?

0:20:39 > 0:20:40Uh, it was great, wasn't it?

0:20:40 > 0:20:42Seeing those old guys coming out of themselves.

0:20:42 > 0:20:45And what about for you personally, first time having a crack in the kitchen?

0:20:45 > 0:20:48It could be the beginning of something very big indeed.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52- Oh, I hope to taste the fruits of your labour, Milton.- Yeah.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54Well, if you would like to donate to "Men Get Cooking!"

0:20:54 > 0:20:57or any of the other fabulous causes supported by Comic Relief,

0:20:57 > 0:21:00you can do so on your mobile phone...

0:22:58 > 0:22:59Like many mums on Mother's Day,

0:22:59 > 0:23:02Jackie Meredith loves having her family around.

0:23:02 > 0:23:05As well as having three children and eight grandchildren,

0:23:05 > 0:23:10she and her husband Bob have also fostered more than 20 children.

0:23:11 > 0:23:14Seven years ago, Jackie and Bob received an unusual request.

0:23:14 > 0:23:18They were asked to become foster carers with a difference

0:23:18 > 0:23:21and to take on three boys who'd just arrived from Afghanistan.

0:23:22 > 0:23:24'Back in 2009,

0:23:24 > 0:23:27'the two brothers and their cousin were aged between 11 and 12,

0:23:27 > 0:23:31'and they've really settled into life here with Jackie and Bob.'

0:23:31 > 0:23:34- This is Ahmad.- Nice to meet you. - Ahmad, lovely to meet you.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37Jackie, tell us, how did the boys come to be here?

0:23:37 > 0:23:38Bob called me from home,

0:23:38 > 0:23:42he said he'd had a telephone call from the fostering people saying,

0:23:42 > 0:23:46would we look after some young asylum-seeking boys?

0:23:46 > 0:23:47And, to be honest,

0:23:47 > 0:23:50I feel quite guilty now because I didn't sort of know what to say

0:23:50 > 0:23:54at the time to him, I was like, "I'm not sure about this."

0:23:54 > 0:23:58And then, when we met the boys, they were so terrified,

0:23:58 > 0:24:00just small, young boys,

0:24:00 > 0:24:03didn't know where they were, didn't know who to trust,

0:24:03 > 0:24:06and they'd had a horrendous journey for six months

0:24:06 > 0:24:08getting from Afghanistan...

0:24:08 > 0:24:12walking in the night to not being fed.

0:24:12 > 0:24:14However they survived, I'll never know.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18The boys' parents had sent them away to escape the dangers

0:24:18 > 0:24:20of their war-torn country.

0:24:20 > 0:24:23They arrived speaking little or no English

0:24:23 > 0:24:25and with no understanding of our way of life.

0:24:25 > 0:24:27The culture, obviously, was very different.

0:24:27 > 0:24:31If you walked into the room they would stand up and we just...

0:24:31 > 0:24:33You know, "You're at home, you don't have to, just sit down,

0:24:33 > 0:24:35"relax, this is your home."

0:24:35 > 0:24:39And also, I can remember distinctly with Ahmad, with his trousers,

0:24:39 > 0:24:40his school trousers...

0:24:40 > 0:24:44I ironed them and I gave them to him with the rest of the ironing

0:24:44 > 0:24:47and he gave them back and was like, "Not good enough."

0:24:47 > 0:24:51And I realised, yeah, the creases, I hadn't done it perfect enough,

0:24:51 > 0:24:54so I did them again and he said, "No, not good enough."

0:24:54 > 0:24:57And I thought, "This is going to go on here,

0:24:57 > 0:24:58"it's never going to be good enough!"

0:24:58 > 0:25:01So I got the ironing board out and said,

0:25:01 > 0:25:03"You iron them how you want to do it."

0:25:03 > 0:25:06And Ahmad said that back in their country,

0:25:06 > 0:25:09the mum and the sisters would be inside and they would iron

0:25:09 > 0:25:13those trousers 20 or 30 times because that's...

0:25:13 > 0:25:15that was just the way it was.

0:25:15 > 0:25:18I accepted that and understood it over a period of time -

0:25:18 > 0:25:22we've just got to go slowly and understand each other,

0:25:22 > 0:25:26and obviously we moved on and we smile about it now.

0:25:26 > 0:25:29- And there were, of course, faith differences.- Yes, exactly.

0:25:29 > 0:25:33Um, obviously, we follow our faith, our Christianity faith,

0:25:33 > 0:25:36and that's important to us in our life and our children

0:25:36 > 0:25:40and our grandchildren, so we really respected how important it was

0:25:40 > 0:25:43for the boys to continue with their faith, with being Muslims.

0:25:43 > 0:25:47Having that faith there, you know, we're all human,

0:25:47 > 0:25:49we can all help each other, we all have our own beliefs,

0:25:49 > 0:25:51but at the end of the day,

0:25:51 > 0:25:54this is the world and this is all that we live in,

0:25:54 > 0:25:57and let's all make it one nice, happy place as best as we can.

0:25:58 > 0:26:01- CHILD:- Daddy, look, here's some...

0:26:01 > 0:26:03There's a lot of love in this home, isn't there?

0:26:03 > 0:26:06They've done every single thing that a real parent would do

0:26:06 > 0:26:07for their own child.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10They've supported us through school, supported us through, uh...

0:26:10 > 0:26:11Just learning the language,

0:26:11 > 0:26:15and they've always motivated us to go on and achieve and succeed.

0:26:15 > 0:26:18I'm so grateful for them.

0:26:18 > 0:26:22They've been like my mum and dad through all my time being here.

0:26:22 > 0:26:25Jackie has been an amazing mum.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29For me, being a mum, it's all really about making them happy,

0:26:29 > 0:26:34secure and loved, and I think then the child will just flourish

0:26:34 > 0:26:37if you can provide all that and the empathy with it.

0:28:33 > 0:28:36This weekend has been a time for reflection and prayer

0:28:36 > 0:28:40after the terror attack on Westminster on Wednesday.

0:28:40 > 0:28:43Aled Jones went to meet the Reverend Rose Hudson-Wilkin,

0:28:43 > 0:28:47who has close ties with Westminster through her role as chaplain

0:28:47 > 0:28:50to the Speaker of the House of Commons.

0:28:50 > 0:28:51They met at Lambeth Palace,

0:28:51 > 0:28:54just across the Thames from the Houses of Parliament.

0:28:54 > 0:28:57I know you were at the Houses of Parliament

0:28:57 > 0:29:00when the attacker struck.

0:29:00 > 0:29:02What was the atmosphere like there?

0:29:02 > 0:29:07The atmosphere... I think at first it was bewilderment and shock.

0:29:07 > 0:29:11We'd heard by then that someone had been hurt and I think we were

0:29:11 > 0:29:18just hoping and praying that he or she would not have succumbed

0:29:18 > 0:29:21to their injuries but sadly we learnt otherwise.

0:29:21 > 0:29:24A police officer lost his life

0:29:24 > 0:29:29trying to save other people's lives.

0:29:29 > 0:29:32How do you reflect on his actions?

0:29:32 > 0:29:39PC Keith will have given his life, he's given his life for us,

0:29:39 > 0:29:45for me, and I hope for all of us that we will not take that

0:29:45 > 0:29:51for granted, but that we will do something positive with our lives,

0:29:51 > 0:29:58that we will shine the light of goodness, the light of compassion,

0:29:58 > 0:30:02the light of mercy, as we continue with our own lives.

0:30:02 > 0:30:03A lot of people also...

0:30:03 > 0:30:06I've heard conversations on the news carried out,

0:30:06 > 0:30:09saying that without religion, maybe we'd be better off.

0:30:09 > 0:30:13You know, atrocities carried out in the name of so-called God.

0:30:13 > 0:30:17Um, I think those people of faith...

0:30:17 > 0:30:20the Christian faith, the Muslim faith,

0:30:20 > 0:30:22or any other faith for that matter,

0:30:22 > 0:30:25those people of real faith would not do something like...

0:30:25 > 0:30:29This is perverted, this is evil personified.

0:30:29 > 0:30:33Do you have a message for people watching our programme

0:30:33 > 0:30:34who have maybe been affected by this,

0:30:34 > 0:30:39or are watching at home frightened about the world that we live in now?

0:30:39 > 0:30:44Yes, I think my message to those who are watching this programme today

0:30:44 > 0:30:48is not to be fearful.

0:30:48 > 0:30:50It's those words of our Lord Jesus,

0:30:50 > 0:30:54"Let not your hearts be troubled at this time.

0:30:54 > 0:30:59"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you..."

0:30:59 > 0:31:06And also, to say, do not allow someone who lived in a way

0:31:06 > 0:31:11contrary to love to determine how WE respond.

0:31:19 > 0:31:26# Make me a channel of your peace

0:31:26 > 0:31:29# Where there is hatred

0:31:29 > 0:31:36# Let me bring your love

0:31:36 > 0:31:40# Where there is injury

0:31:40 > 0:31:44# Your pardon, Lord

0:31:44 > 0:31:46# And where there's doubt

0:31:46 > 0:31:55# True faith in you

0:31:55 > 0:32:02# Make me a channel of your peace

0:32:02 > 0:32:06# Where there's despair in life

0:32:06 > 0:32:12# Let me bring hope

0:32:12 > 0:32:16# Where there is darkness

0:32:16 > 0:32:19# Only light

0:32:19 > 0:32:23# And where there's sadness

0:32:23 > 0:32:28# Ever joy

0:32:28 > 0:32:36# Oh, Master grant that I may never seek

0:32:36 > 0:32:44# So much to be consoled as to console

0:32:44 > 0:32:52# To be understood as to understand

0:32:52 > 0:33:03# To be loved as to love with all my soul

0:33:03 > 0:33:05# Love with all my soul

0:33:05 > 0:33:12# All my soul Love with all my so-o-o-o-oul

0:33:12 > 0:33:18# All my so-o-o-ul

0:33:19 > 0:33:23# Make me a channel of your peace

0:33:23 > 0:33:26- # A channel of your peace - Oh!

0:33:26 > 0:33:29# It is in pardoning

0:33:29 > 0:33:34- # That we are pardoned - Oh!

0:33:34 > 0:33:38# In giving to all men

0:33:38 > 0:33:44# That we receive

0:33:44 > 0:33:56# And in dying that we're born to eternal life. #
