0:07:56 > 0:07:58of 12 singers.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02And the search begins at the blind auditions.

0:08:02 > 0:08:03We have our backs turned to the artist.

0:08:03 > 0:08:07You have no preconceived idea about what that person looks like.

0:08:07 > 0:08:10My ears are just like magnets.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14You're listening for some magical moment to spark!

0:08:14 > 0:08:15Ooh!

0:08:15 > 0:08:18If a coach likes what they hear, they hit a button.

0:08:18 > 0:08:21- REGGIE:- And that artist wins a place in their team.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23But if more than one chair turns around...

0:08:23 > 0:08:24The power shifts.

0:08:24 > 0:08:27- REGGIE:- And the coaches have to convince that artist

0:08:27 > 0:08:28to join their team.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31Then we're in a bidding war, an old school record company bidding war.

0:08:56 > 0:08:57Come on!

0:08:57 > 0:08:58This is so hard.

0:09:00 > 0:09:04- REGGIE:- But if no coach turns, the artist is out of the competition.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06I am gutted.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08I don't know if I would've made it on The Voice,

0:09:08 > 0:09:10because the level really is that high.

0:09:12 > 0:09:16- REGGIE:- Each coach wants to discover the one artist who'll win it all.

0:09:33 > 0:09:35It's such an incredible platform.

0:09:35 > 0:09:39You're singing to millions of people right away.

0:09:39 > 0:09:40And I think you got a great voice

0:09:40 > 0:09:42and I would love to have you on my team.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46I can't wait to fight for a singer to join my team

0:09:46 > 0:09:48so I can fight for them.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50The blind auditions start now.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57- REGGIE:- So this it it.

0:09:57 > 0:10:00Thousands applied but only the very best were chosen

0:10:00 > 0:10:03to sing in front of our four global superstars.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11And as the first of those arrive, nerves are starting to kick in.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21- REGGIE:- Our coaches know nothing about these acts,

0:10:21 > 0:10:24but here's everything you need to know about this man.

0:10:24 > 0:10:29My name is Ash Morgan, I'm 26 and I'm a youth arts coordinator.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32I'm from South Wales, in the Valleys,

0:10:32 > 0:10:36and I've lived here all my life and it's where I live and work now.

0:10:36 > 0:10:40I work predominantly with children from special schools.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43These are the leaves for the big flowers, yeah?

0:10:43 > 0:10:45The job can sometimes be challenging,

0:10:45 > 0:10:48but it's really rewarding.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50Looks like a stained glass window, doesn't it?

0:10:50 > 0:10:52I've never had any singing lessons.

0:10:52 > 0:10:55I sang at a karaoke evening when I was 16.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58That was the first time, really, that I sang in public.

0:10:58 > 0:11:00But I don't do any gigs these days.

0:11:17 > 0:11:22- I'm not helping, am I?- No. - I'll shut up.

0:11:22 > 0:11:27I think, image, if you're a singer, is really, really important,

0:11:27 > 0:11:29but it should be secondary to the voice.

0:11:29 > 0:11:34To be able to go out there and to be judged purely on vocal ability,

0:11:34 > 0:11:36I tink is really liberating, actually.

0:11:39 > 0:11:43I don't really play that often in public, so singing in front

0:11:43 > 0:11:46of the coaches is going to be really nerve-racking.

0:11:51 > 0:11:55- How do you reckon he's feeling? - Terrified.- Do you think?- Mm.

0:38:07 > 0:38:09The fact the coaches can't see me

0:38:09 > 0:38:11is the one part that is getting me nervous because a lot of my act

0:40:40 > 0:40:41I'm 16.

0:40:41 > 0:40:43CHEERING

0:40:46 > 0:40:49As far as singing goes, what is your background in singing?

0:40:49 > 0:40:53Well, mainly sort of rock and roll sort of thing. Old stuff.

0:40:53 > 0:40:55Elton John, the Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis,

0:40:55 > 0:40:58all that sort of style. That's sort of my style of singing.

0:40:58 > 0:41:00OK, I just thought it was a little too proper.

0:41:00 > 0:41:02It is when you're over-pronouncing the words a little bit.

0:41:02 > 0:41:04It loses the sentiment, for me.

0:41:04 > 0:41:06Your pitch was perfect.

0:41:22 > 0:41:27You know? You only live through that once. Maybe put that in your music.

0:41:27 > 0:41:29Thank you, thank you.

0:41:37 > 0:41:40OK, good. If I was in the front row of any musical,

0:41:40 > 0:41:44I would have just stood up for that performance because it was clean,

0:41:44 > 0:41:48it was on pitch, it was pronounced, it was projected, it was believable.

0:41:48 > 0:41:52I honestly think that tomorrow you could audition for Les Mis,

0:41:52 > 0:41:55you could audition for any musical and be a leading role at 16.

0:42:07 > 0:42:09- I'll be in it. - And you make more money

0:42:11 > 0:42:16- Can I just say I have written a musical.- Yes!

0:42:16 > 0:42:21That's what I'm talking about. Boom. Boom.

0:44:20 > 0:44:21CHEERING

0:44:24 > 0:44:26Oh, wow.

0:44:26 > 0:44:28Giving them Great Balls Of Fire!

0:44:29 > 0:44:32He can go anywhere he wants to, that kid.

0:44:32 > 0:44:35Oh, yeah, no, I'm buzzing now. That was amazing.

0:44:35 > 0:44:39Just to play and to be asked to play again was just incredible.

0:44:45 > 0:44:49Four superstars, four chairs, one chance.

0:44:49 > 0:44:52If Louis couldn't get them spinning, what's going to get them

0:44:52 > 0:44:53to push their buttons?

0:44:53 > 0:44:56What I listen for is originality.

0:44:56 > 0:45:00I like the ones that hit me with a natural-sounding voice.

0:45:00 > 0:45:02I'm not looking for anything in particular.

0:45:02 > 0:45:04I'm just looking for the voice.

0:45:04 > 0:45:09'It's just like desire, attraction, magnetic, sucks you in.'

0:45:09 > 0:45:12I'm going to look for massive diversity in all ranges

0:45:13 > 0:45:15I want to hear someone with potential and

0:45:15 > 0:45:18if someone gives you goose bumps then I think you have to go for it.

0:45:18 > 0:45:20I like somebody that could stand up anywhere

0:45:44 > 0:45:46When I was about five years old,

0:45:46 > 0:45:51I found out I had a condition called glaucoma which is high-pressure

0:45:57 > 0:46:02Glaucoma is a degenerative condition so once your vision is gone,

0:46:02 > 0:46:05Basically, that's it. There is no means of getting it back.

0:46:05 > 0:46:09I had to adapt the way I did things.

0:46:09 > 0:46:14For example, playing for friends are watching TV or the ordinary

0:46:14 > 0:46:16things that you normally take for granted.

0:46:16 > 0:46:19You're judging me completely on how I am speaking to you.

0:46:20 > 0:46:24- Am I doing OK? - You're doing great.- Good.

0:46:24 > 0:46:28Music really became, I suppose, my get-out.

0:46:28 > 0:46:30'It was a natural progression, really.'

0:46:30 > 0:46:33She just loves singing. She sings round the house

0:46:33 > 0:46:36and we are tired of listening to her singing in the house.

0:46:36 > 0:46:40When I sing, it just takes me to somewhere else.

0:46:40 > 0:46:45Somewhere that's totally cut off from reality that

0:46:45 > 0:46:50I just feel a complete sense of relaxation and it's something

0:46:50 > 0:46:54that I can just automatically do without needing any assistance or

0:46:54 > 0:46:58having any issues so I think that is maybe why it is so important to me.

0:47:01 > 0:47:05This is the biggest challenge I have ever put myself to.

0:47:07 > 0:47:10I am hopeful that the blind audition will put me

0:47:10 > 0:47:16on a more level playing field with the other artists rather than

0:47:16 > 0:47:20sometimes feeling at a bit of a disadvantage because I can't see.

0:47:40 > 0:47:44# Spend all your time waiting

0:47:45 > 0:47:48# For that second chance

0:47:49 > 0:47:55# A break that would make it OK

0:47:55 > 0:47:58# I need some distraction

0:47:59 > 0:48:03# Oh, beautiful

0:48:03 > 0:48:08# Memories seep from my veins

0:48:09 > 0:48:13# Let me be empty

0:48:14 > 0:48:19# Oh, and weightless, yeah, maybe

0:48:19 > 0:48:24# I'll find some peace tonight

0:48:25 > 0:48:32# In the arms of the angel

0:48:32 > 0:48:39# Fly away from here

0:48:39 > 0:48:47# From this dark, cold hotel room

0:48:47 > 0:48:53# And the endlessness that you fear

0:48:54 > 0:49:01# You are pulled from the wreckage

0:49:01 > 0:49:07# Of your silent reverie

0:49:08 > 0:49:15# You're in the arms of the angel

0:49:16 > 0:49:22# May you find

0:49:22 > 0:49:28# Some comfort here. #

0:49:28 > 0:49:29CHEERING

0:49:35 > 0:49:37Wow.

0:49:49 > 0:49:51That was incredible. What's your name?

0:49:51 > 0:49:52Andrea Begley.

0:49:52 > 0:49:54Where do you come from?

0:49:54 > 0:49:57Northern Ireland. County Tyrone.

0:49:57 > 0:49:59What's your background?

0:49:59 > 0:50:05I'm 26. I work as a civil servant and I'm also visually impaired

0:50:05 > 0:50:08so I'm not entirely sure whether anyone turned round or not.

0:50:08 > 0:50:10CHEERING

0:50:26 > 0:50:28Well, that's a relief.

0:50:28 > 0:50:32I can assure you, not only we turned around, myself and Tom,

0:50:32 > 0:50:34but the whole of the UK just turned around too.

0:50:34 > 0:50:35CHEERING

0:50:41 > 0:50:42What inspired you to come on The Voice?

0:50:42 > 0:50:46Well, actually, just for the very basic reason that you guys

0:50:46 > 0:50:49couldn't see me and I couldn't see you so...

0:50:49 > 0:50:50For once...

0:50:53 > 0:50:54For once...

0:50:54 > 0:50:57For once I'm on a level playing field with all the other contestants

0:50:57 > 0:51:00so that's the most important part for me.

0:51:00 > 0:51:01CHEERING

0:51:01 > 0:51:03Hear, hear.

0:51:06 > 0:51:09- I'm Tom.- Hi, Tom.- Hi.

0:51:09 > 0:51:14And I didn't know whether to push my button or not because it

0:51:14 > 0:51:18seems like you were really something that Danny loves to listen to.

0:51:18 > 0:51:21I know that. But the reason that I did with my button is

0:51:21 > 0:51:24I couldn't help myself because your voice is so beautiful.

0:51:24 > 0:51:26Yeah, it is.

0:51:26 > 0:51:27APPLAUSE

0:51:30 > 0:51:33And I just had to let you know that and I would love it

0:51:33 > 0:51:38if you would be on my team and I would work my guts out for you.

0:51:38 > 0:51:39Thank you.

0:51:39 > 0:51:40CHEERING

0:51:42 > 0:51:46Firstly, I want to just say I applaud how courageous you are

0:51:46 > 0:51:49and how proud of yourself you should be right now.

0:51:55 > 0:51:58I think that your voice is definitely something that

0:51:58 > 0:52:01lends itself to either Team Tom on Team Danny so, girl,

0:52:01 > 0:52:03you better pick your man.

0:52:03 > 0:52:05Tough choice. It's a tough choice.

0:52:05 > 0:52:06It is a tough choice.

0:52:06 > 0:52:10I think we both feel very emotional about the way you sing.

0:52:10 > 0:52:14It's a very emotional thing in that comes over really, really strong.

0:52:14 > 0:52:19- I feel Danny feels the same way so. - Oh, absolutely. Absolutely.

0:52:19 > 0:52:21My gut instinct and I can only kind of go with my ears

0:52:21 > 0:52:22and what I feel and stuff

0:52:22 > 0:52:25but there's one thing that doesn't lie and that is the hairs

0:52:25 > 0:52:28on my arms and I've used it as a test throughout this whole thing.

0:52:28 > 0:52:29I could coach you impeccably, you know.

0:52:29 > 0:52:32Excellence is what this team is all about.

0:52:32 > 0:52:34Your song choice is impeccable.

0:52:34 > 0:52:37The emotion that you sang with is exactly the same emotion that

0:52:37 > 0:52:40I have strived for myself to try and get and also to

0:52:40 > 0:52:43look for another artists and I really, really believe you have it.

0:52:43 > 0:52:45It would be an absolute honour for me cos I think

0:52:45 > 0:52:49I would be in the arms of an angel, in fairness, if you're on my team.

0:52:49 > 0:52:50Thank you.

0:52:50 > 0:52:53CHEERING

0:52:53 > 0:52:56And I would be really, really sick if you went over to Tom's,

0:52:56 > 0:52:58I really would.

0:52:58 > 0:53:01I might be going out on a limb here but, you know, you are Irish.

0:53:01 > 0:53:03LAUGHTER

0:53:03 > 0:53:05Oh, no, not the Irish card.

0:53:07 > 0:53:10Well, I'm a Celt, you know, myself.

0:53:10 > 0:53:13OK, so this is a question of me making my mind up then.

0:53:13 > 0:53:15AUDIENCE MEMBER: Pick Tom!

0:53:32 > 0:53:35I'm going to opt with...

0:53:47 > 0:53:48Danny.

0:53:48 > 0:53:50CHEERING

0:53:51 > 0:53:52Thank you.

0:53:58 > 0:53:59Give it up. Come on.

0:54:05 > 0:54:07It was wonderful. Wonderful.

0:54:11 > 0:54:13Give it up.

0:54:13 > 0:54:14Wow.

0:54:19 > 0:54:22- Well, that was touching, wasn't it? - It was amazing.

0:54:26 > 0:54:28Every part of me was, like, electrified through it.

0:54:28 > 0:54:31I knew straightaway, from the first line of that song, I was like,

0:54:31 > 0:54:35"This is something special." Cos the mood just changed in the room.

0:54:35 > 0:54:37That's what a megastar does. They just change it.

0:54:37 > 0:54:39So, wow, great moment.

0:54:43 > 0:54:47Like everyone, 29-year-old Kirsty Crawford has one shot

0:54:47 > 0:54:49but it hasn't been her only shot.

0:54:49 > 0:54:52I know it sounds cheesy to say that you've got a lot riding on it.

0:54:52 > 0:54:54This girl kind of does.

0:54:57 > 0:55:00I have been singing since I was a kid.

0:55:00 > 0:55:02Always with dreams of being in musical theatre

0:55:02 > 0:55:04or on MTV at some point.

0:55:05 > 0:55:08My parents had always hit home the importance of education.

0:55:08 > 0:55:15I got into med school and I ended up taking a gap year of singing

0:55:15 > 0:55:16and I didn't go back.

0:55:18 > 0:55:21I think my parents were more anxious than they were disappointed.

0:55:23 > 0:55:28About 10 years ago, I got signed off the back of a singing competition.

0:55:28 > 0:55:30For many reasons, it didn't quite work out.

0:55:30 > 0:55:34So that really, really did knock my confidence because you think,

0:55:34 > 0:55:35"Have I failed?

0:55:35 > 0:55:38And I was very disappointed in myself

0:55:38 > 0:55:40so for three years I stopped singing.

0:55:45 > 0:55:49The only way I can ever see myself fulfilling everything that

0:55:49 > 0:55:54I love is as a singer but every time I sing,

0:55:54 > 0:55:57I get so nervous and I panic.

0:55:59 > 0:56:02I need to prove to myself I stuck it out through

0:56:02 > 0:56:04the dip in confidence for a reason.

0:56:09 > 0:56:13The nerves aren't going to get the better of me. I'll be fine.

0:56:28 > 0:56:29Come on.

0:56:37 > 0:56:40# Does laughter still discover you?

0:56:40 > 0:56:43# I see through all those smiles that look so right

0:56:43 > 0:56:46# Do you still have the same friends now

0:56:46 > 0:56:49# To smoke away your problems and your lies?

0:56:49 > 0:56:50# How do you remember me?

0:56:52 > 0:56:55# The one that made you laugh until you cried

0:56:55 > 0:57:00# I hope you're feeling happy now

0:57:00 > 0:57:06# Just because you feel good

0:57:06 > 0:57:09# Doesn't make it right

0:57:09 > 0:57:11# Oh, no

0:57:11 > 0:57:17# Just because it feels good

0:57:17 > 0:57:21# Still want you here tonight

0:57:21 > 0:57:24# Want you

0:57:24 > 0:57:30# I want you... #

0:57:30 > 0:57:31Come on, Jessie.

0:57:32 > 0:57:33Come on, Jessie.

0:57:33 > 0:57:36# Oh, yeah

0:57:36 > 0:57:40# Just because you feel good

0:57:40 > 0:57:41# No-oh-oh-oh

0:57:41 > 0:57:44# Doesn't make it right

0:57:44 > 0:57:47# No

0:57:47 > 0:57:53# Just because you feel so good

0:57:53 > 0:58:00# Still want you here, here, here

0:58:00 > 0:58:06# Here tonight. #

0:58:06 > 0:58:11APPLAUSE

0:58:18 > 0:58:20I bet you just want to get out there, don't you,

0:58:20 > 0:58:22and go and give her a hug?

0:58:24 > 0:58:26Please, don't cry. Do you need a hug?

0:58:28 > 0:58:30APPLAUSE

0:58:35 > 0:58:38Let it out.

0:58:38 > 0:58:41Look at all your make-up...

0:58:44 > 0:58:47Can I have a hand cos I'll probably fall.

0:58:50 > 0:58:53APPLAUSE

0:58:56 > 0:58:59- What's your name?- Kirsty.

0:58:59 > 0:59:02- How old are you, love?- I'm 29.

0:59:02 > 0:59:05I just completely bottled it at the top of the stairs

0:59:05 > 0:59:08and I hadn't anticipated that.

0:59:08 > 0:59:11I'm just going to say, from female to female, I know how it feels,

0:59:11 > 0:59:15trust me. Nerves are a very un...

0:59:15 > 0:59:18Underestimated thing that people don't realise are very real,

0:59:18 > 0:59:21but I want you to know that you're a great singer. You are.

0:59:21 > 0:59:24But I will say you need to work on your breathing cos that's

0:59:24 > 0:59:26what's going to conquer your nerves and, trust me,

0:59:26 > 0:59:30crying is a normal thing and I'm very happy that your voice just got

0:59:30 > 0:59:33that opportunity and you did, as a person. So, well done.

0:59:33 > 0:59:36APPLAUSE

0:59:36 > 0:59:38The thing is, I bottle it all the time.

0:59:38 > 0:59:41I've been on David Letterman, Ellen, all these shows

0:59:41 > 0:59:44and absolutely made a hames of it but I'm still here.

0:59:44 > 0:59:45I'm still rocking. I'm still rolling.

0:59:45 > 0:59:48You take something like this, you take it on the chin

0:59:48 > 0:59:50- and come back bigger, stronger and better than ever.- Yeah.

0:59:50 > 0:59:53So, you know, take that with you. Absolutely.

0:59:53 > 0:59:55APPLAUSE

0:59:55 > 0:59:57Just learn from this experience.

0:59:57 > 0:59:59But thank you so much for coming and singing.

0:59:59 > 1:00:02APPLAUSE

1:00:02 > 1:00:05Well done, hon. Bye.

1:00:11 > 1:00:13It's gutting, isn't it?

1:00:18 > 1:00:20You did so well. Please, don't cry.

1:00:20 > 1:00:23My nerves definitely got the better of me.

1:00:23 > 1:00:26I've never been like this before. Never.

1:00:26 > 1:00:27It is quite a big stage though.

1:00:27 > 1:00:29That's a shame though, isn't it?

1:00:29 > 1:00:31I quite simply didn't deserve any turn arounds

1:00:31 > 1:00:35cos that wasn't me on stage. That just... It just wasn't.

1:00:35 > 1:00:38You think it's meant so much to them and sometimes the nerves is

1:00:38 > 1:00:40the power you're trying to put in because it means so much.

1:00:40 > 1:00:42You have to try and push through it.

1:00:42 > 1:00:44The biggest challenge for any act is nerves.

1:00:44 > 1:00:46And, as performers themselves,

1:00:46 > 1:00:49that's something our coaches understand all too well.

1:00:49 > 1:00:53JESSIE: It's hard. It's crazy tough.

1:00:53 > 1:00:55DANNY: It's petrifying.

1:00:55 > 1:00:58They have waited their whole life for this moment.

1:00:58 > 1:01:03Nerves can either give you more strength, that little edge.

1:01:03 > 1:01:06But if your nerves get the better of you, it can destroy you.

1:01:09 > 1:01:13The advice I have for singers that are going to step up there

1:01:13 > 1:01:17is pick a song that you really like to give the best performance

1:01:17 > 1:01:20that you feel that you can give.

1:01:20 > 1:01:26Take a deep breath and remember why you are there. That's all.

1:01:26 > 1:01:29Take advantage of the fact that our backs are turned.

1:01:29 > 1:01:33'Use that as a metaphor. Sneak up on us.'

1:01:33 > 1:01:36- REGGIE:- But will it be easier said than done for our next act?

1:01:39 > 1:01:43My name is Mike Ward. I'm from Salford. I'm 21 and I'm unemployed.

1:01:43 > 1:01:45'I've got three brothers and one sister.'

1:01:45 > 1:01:46MUSIC: "Lose Yourself" by Eminem

1:01:46 > 1:01:48# If you had

1:01:48 > 1:01:50# One shot

1:01:50 > 1:01:52# One opportunity

1:01:52 > 1:01:54# Would you capture it? #

1:01:54 > 1:01:57'I'm probably the quietest one in the house.'

1:01:57 > 1:02:01My little brother John, he is very confident.

1:02:03 > 1:02:05The opposite of me, basically.

1:02:05 > 1:02:09Life growing up in Salford, there's not a lot to do so me

1:02:09 > 1:02:12and Mike just normally do music together in our room.

1:02:12 > 1:02:14We'll just put a beat on and sit there and write a song.

1:02:14 > 1:02:17- # Taking the first step is always the- hardest

1:02:17 > 1:02:20- # Writing up your lyrics Getting- known as an artist. #

1:02:20 > 1:02:23I've never thought about being a professional singer before

1:02:23 > 1:02:26'until my mum told me I was good enough and to give it a go.'

1:02:26 > 1:02:29# Tell me your problems your worries and your dreams

1:02:29 > 1:02:32# When it comes down to it you're the beauty and the beast. #

1:02:32 > 1:02:34You must have real faith in your son then

1:02:34 > 1:02:37if you're the one that put him forward for this.

1:02:37 > 1:02:39I've got every faith in him. He's amazing.

1:02:39 > 1:02:42- Why do you think he didn't do it himself?- Cos he'd be too nervous.

1:02:42 > 1:02:46He don't believe in himself. He doesn't think he is good enough.

1:02:46 > 1:02:48He says, "I'm all right." That's all he says.

1:02:48 > 1:02:50'I never would have done it by myself.'

1:02:50 > 1:02:52That's it now, pal. Good luck. All the best.

1:02:58 > 1:03:01'I've never really sung in front of public before.

1:03:01 > 1:03:03'I normally keep my music to myself.'

1:03:07 > 1:03:10'My mum believing in me has given me a lot more confidence

1:03:10 > 1:03:13'and I just want to show her I can do it now.'

1:03:21 > 1:03:23You know he can do this.

1:03:42 > 1:03:46# I know you loved him

1:03:49 > 1:03:52# A long time ago

1:03:55 > 1:03:59# Even now in my arms

1:04:01 > 1:04:04# You still want him, I know... #

1:04:04 > 1:04:07I know what you mean about not expecting that voice to come out.

1:04:07 > 1:04:11# But, darling, this time

1:04:13 > 1:04:19# Let your memories die

1:04:19 > 1:04:23# When you hold me tonight

1:04:26 > 1:04:32# Don't close your eyes

1:04:32 > 1:04:35# Don't close your eyes

1:04:35 > 1:04:38# Let it be me

1:04:38 > 1:04:40# Don't pretend it's him

1:04:40 > 1:04:44# In some fantasy

1:04:44 > 1:04:47# Darling, just once

1:04:47 > 1:04:50# Let yesterday go

1:04:50 > 1:04:52# Girl, you'll find more love

1:04:52 > 1:04:56# Than you've ever known

1:04:56 > 1:04:59# Just hold me tight

1:04:59 > 1:05:02# When you love me tonight

1:05:02 > 1:05:14# And don't close your eyes. #

1:05:14 > 1:05:22CHEERING

1:05:27 > 1:05:29How are you doing, man?

1:05:29 > 1:05:30I can't believe this.

1:05:34 > 1:05:36What's your name and where do you come from?

1:05:36 > 1:05:37My name is Mike Ward, I'm from Manchester.

1:05:37 > 1:05:39CHEERING

1:05:42 > 1:05:44You have an incredible recording voice.

1:05:44 > 1:05:46What type of stuff do you normally listen to?

1:05:46 > 1:05:49Country. Country and western. Everything, really.

1:05:49 > 1:05:52You know what? Country singers, these days, are literally...

1:05:52 > 1:05:53They are very, very, very rare.

1:05:53 > 1:05:55Especially in the UK.

1:05:55 > 1:05:58Literally, the first line, that tone that came out, a lovely,

1:05:58 > 1:06:01current country voice. Cos it's a massive, massive market.

1:06:01 > 1:06:03One of the biggest markets in the world

1:06:03 > 1:06:05and I know exactly how to write a song for that market.

1:06:05 > 1:06:08CHEERING

1:06:09 > 1:06:12You have a very wonderful gift and to turn around

1:06:12 > 1:06:16and see a too-cool-for-school dude doing country, that is, like...

1:06:16 > 1:06:17- That's fresh.- Look at the belt, man.

1:06:17 > 1:06:20- I know, I see it. - Come on.- You really sounded fresh.

1:06:20 > 1:06:22The reason why I didn't turn around is

1:06:22 > 1:06:24because I didn't want it to be confusing again.

1:06:24 > 1:06:28So you have three great choices and I didn't want to confuse it

1:06:34 > 1:06:38You have three people to pick from. Not just Danny, so...

1:06:38 > 1:06:42I was like, pow. First one to turn. These lot were, late, man.

1:06:42 > 1:06:46Three completely different coaches but I feel like, I don't know,

1:06:46 > 1:06:49I just feel like I'd be the perfect coach for you just to be able to

1:06:49 > 1:06:51team the country-ness that you have...

1:06:51 > 1:06:55I know that you can probably sing anything. Yeah, I got you.

1:06:57 > 1:06:59- Pick me.- All right?- Yes.

1:06:59 > 1:07:02I wanted to hear the whole thing, you know, from start to

1:07:02 > 1:07:05finish before I pressed the button because you never know.

1:07:05 > 1:07:08Some people are strong starting off and they don't get any stronger,

1:07:08 > 1:07:13but you did. To use Will's expression, it was fresh.

1:07:13 > 1:07:17Because, you're the first country singer we have had...

1:07:17 > 1:07:20That was the dopest thing in the history of, like, freshness!

1:07:20 > 1:07:22From Tom Jones!

1:07:22 > 1:07:25But, you know, I feel I know what I'm talking about

1:07:25 > 1:07:31because I've had experience in this area of music.

1:07:32 > 1:07:34I feel I'm the one for you.

1:07:34 > 1:07:36JESSIE J: Right now, it's hard work time.

1:07:36 > 1:07:39- IN MOCK DRAMATIC VOICE: - You have three choices!

1:22:48 > 1:22:52The really strange thing about this show is that whatever's gone on

1:22:52 > 1:22:55in a person's life has no relevance when you get on that stage.

1:22:55 > 1:22:58You can be the most consummate performer, but you get up there,

1:22:58 > 1:23:01you see the names on the back, the crowd and everybody goes "whack".

1:23:01 > 1:23:05Really, really hard to see a mate not get through, you know.

1:23:08 > 1:23:12Last up, 33-year-old charity worker Matt Henry.

1:23:14 > 1:23:18The Dogs Trust is a charity that helps to rehome stray

1:23:18 > 1:23:20or abandoned dogs.

1:23:20 > 1:23:24Not only does it do that but we also work with young people

1:23:24 > 1:23:28in the community by training them to help care for the dogs.

1:23:28 > 1:23:32It is very much a change in people's life, helping them to see that

1:23:32 > 1:23:36there is more to life than just living on that street,

1:23:36 > 1:23:38in that neighbourhood, in that gang.

1:23:39 > 1:23:42I've been singing since I was young. I was brought up in a church,

1:23:42 > 1:23:46left church when I was 18 so I was always singing in gospel choirs.

1:23:49 > 1:23:51one being The Lion King.

1:23:51 > 1:23:54But when people ask me, "Do you sing professionally?" I don't know,

1:23:54 > 1:23:56cos what is professional singing?

1:23:59 > 1:24:02'I don't gig, that's what I wish I did.

1:24:02 > 1:24:05'I wish I had that confidence to get up and sing with everybody else.

1:24:08 > 1:24:11'Not having the confidence and the belief in my ability,

1:24:11 > 1:24:14'I think that's kind of stopped me.

1:24:17 > 1:24:19'I feel like I'm free-falling at the moment.

1:24:19 > 1:24:21'It's been a long time coming.

1:24:21 > 1:24:23'And I think it's time for me to step up.'

1:25:04 > 1:25:05CHEERING

1:25:05 > 1:25:12# Well, I've been saved by a woman

1:25:15 > 1:25:23# I've been saved by a woman

1:25:25 > 1:25:28# She won't let me go

1:25:29 > 1:25:32# She won't let me go now... #

1:25:53 > 1:25:58# Well I've been saved by a woman

1:26:01 > 1:26:08# I've been saved by a woman

1:26:08 > 1:26:09# Hear me now

1:26:09 > 1:26:13# She won't let me go

1:26:15 > 1:26:18# She won't let me go now

1:26:19 > 1:26:22# She won't let me go. #
