0:02:27 > 0:02:31- I've visited plenty of farms - over the years.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34- Agriculture is very important - to the region.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37- It's a vital foundation - of the rural economy.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42- Most of our farms are sheep farms, - mainly with Welsh mountain breeds.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45- There are dairy farms, - mainly raising store cattle...

0:02:47 > 0:02:51- ..to be sold for fattening - in other areas.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58- There is diversification - in an effort to increase income.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39- I haven't missed one Show - since I was born.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42- I was four weeks old - at my first Show.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46- I've been every year. - It's an integral part of my year.

0:03:46 > 0:03:51- It's a family holiday - and a social event.

0:03:54 > 0:03:58- The feature county is asked to raise - money towards the Royal Welsh Show.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01- We chose to raise money - for a water project.

0:04:01 > 0:04:07- We've held events including - pig races and auctions.

0:04:08 > 0:04:12- The ambassador has to help - with the money-raising.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15- As the county has a water project...

0:04:15 > 0:04:19- ..I decided to kayak - along the coast of Meirionnydd.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22- I started in Porthmadog - and finished in Aberdyfi.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26- The journey took 12 hours - one weekend in June.

0:04:29 > 0:04:33- Meirionnydd is - a small but unique county.

0:04:33 > 0:04:39- There are plenty of enthusiastic - people that get together...

0:15:01 > 0:15:05- They are efficient - converters of grass...

0:15:05 > 0:15:08- ..into milk and money for me.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14- Grass is the cheapest fodder - available for cattle.

0:15:17 > 0:15:21- It's the simplest thing in the - world. Send them out to pasture.

0:15:30 > 0:15:35- I farm Llysun Farm, - Llanerfyl, Montgomeryshire.

0:15:36 > 0:15:40- We bought the farm on a Wednesday...

0:15:43 > 0:15:47- That was in 1968. - A few years have passed.

0:15:48 > 0:15:53- That was just after the Welsh - Grassland Society was formed.

0:15:53 > 0:15:56- They've been part of my life - forever.

0:16:05 > 0:16:11- ..Welsh lamb raised on nothing but - grassland and their mother's milk.

0:16:14 > 0:16:19- The best quality beef comes from - calves raised by pastured cows.
