:00:00. > :00:00.News, East London. Time now for a look at the news as

:00:00. > :00:09.seen across the United States a couple of hours ago in ABC World

:00:10. > :00:14.News with David Muir. Welcome to ABC World News. The US

:00:15. > :00:23.now knows who this masked man is in those horrific ISIS videos. The only

:00:24. > :00:29.reporter on board a US warship in the Gulf as the fighter jets take

:00:30. > :00:35.off. Caught on camera, the officer who pulled over a driver for not

:00:36. > :00:43.wearing a seatbelt is opened fired upon. The story that shocked the

:00:44. > :00:45.world. The parents of the 12`year`old girl lured into the

:00:46. > :00:59.woods by her friends and left for dead. What they reveal tonight.

:01:00. > :01:05.Good evening. That major development. What we have learned

:01:06. > :01:09.from the FBI today. Top officials confirming they have identified the

:01:10. > :01:15.man behind this mask. The killer from those horrific ISIS videos

:01:16. > :01:22.killing American hostages. Now we go to our correspondent.

:01:23. > :01:27.I spoke with the FBI director today and he said they now know who that

:01:28. > :01:32.man is. The barbaric video is haunting. A masked man standing

:01:33. > :01:38.above James Foley. The man in the mask known as the nickname Jihadi

:01:39. > :01:44.John. A variety of techniques had been used to find his real

:01:45. > :01:48.identity. He speaks in a British accent. That voice has been compared

:01:49. > :01:51.to known recordings and intelligence officials have been allowing

:01:52. > :01:55.informants to listen to them. They searched for a match with his eyes

:01:56. > :02:01.and hands and examined the backgrounds of the tapes, using

:02:02. > :02:08.computer simulations to try to construct his face. The FBI director

:02:09. > :02:11.told me and a small group of reporters that he is now confident

:02:12. > :02:19.he knows who this man is but refused to reveal his name. The big

:02:20. > :02:23.question, if they now know who he is, where is he tonight? They

:02:24. > :02:28.believe he is somewhere in Syria but do not know for sure and a manhunt

:02:29. > :02:35.is now under way to find him. Thank you. Moving on to the Gulf with our

:02:36. > :02:42.reporter as one of the only reporters on board one of the

:02:43. > :02:47.warships. Look at this, the before and after of an airstrike.

:02:48. > :02:55.Decimating the abutment ISIS is using to get oil and money. Here is

:02:56. > :03:01.Raaqa, a young mother with a weapon on her shoulder walking with her

:03:02. > :03:06.toddler. A fighter holding an iPod and a woman logging onto Facebook

:03:07. > :03:14.before missiles rain down. Now we go to our correspondent. We are in the

:03:15. > :03:26.middle of the Persian Gulf. US ships and work lanes are making 20 47 war

:03:27. > :03:31.against ISIS. `` warplanes. There are over 60 aircraft on this

:03:32. > :03:33.carrier, most of them are strike fighters but there are also

:03:34. > :03:40.surveillance and reconnaissance planes. The strikes targeting those

:03:41. > :03:45.critical ISIS controlled oil supplies, multiple oil supplies

:03:46. > :03:53.generating millions of day but now destroyed. I was on a tanker

:03:54. > :03:57.mission. This commander is telling us that the goal is to stop the ISIS

:03:58. > :04:05.money flow. Another major target is the stronghold of Raaqa. We are seen

:04:06. > :04:10.inside the city, this video secretly shot by a woman before the airstrike

:04:11. > :04:18.showing the brutality within. Heavily armed men and women

:04:19. > :04:20.everywhere. Here extremists burning Western paraphernalia and a

:04:21. > :04:27.harrowing moments when the woman is called over to militants who think

:04:28. > :04:32.her face is overly exposed. Life has not been the same since the campaign

:04:33. > :04:37.began. Indeed, after the sun went down in the Persian Gulf, flight

:04:38. > :04:50.operations intensified as we watched and waited for what comes next.

:04:51. > :04:58.Back at home, startling new video. Watch this. A routine traffic stop,

:04:59. > :05:03.somebody pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, sees the officer opened

:05:04. > :05:12.fire. The driver survives and you are about to see and hear it all.

:05:13. > :05:16.Startling video of the moments after a trooper pulls a man over for an

:05:17. > :05:21.alleged seatbelt violation. Can I see your licence please?

:05:22. > :05:29.Watch again. The man, told to produce his drivers license, reaches

:05:30. > :05:31.into his car. The trooper fired at least four shots, hitting him once

:05:32. > :05:43.in the hit. The former state trooper is now

:05:44. > :05:47.charged with assault and battery. It is the latest in a string of police

:05:48. > :05:51.in `` incidents that were caught on tape for all to see and judge for

:05:52. > :05:59.themselves. California police paid $1.5 million to settle with this

:06:00. > :06:02.woman, heated by a patrolman. And a jury decided this week to not charge

:06:03. > :06:08.the officers who fatally shot this man at a Walmart. He was holding a

:06:09. > :06:13.pellet gun he'd picked up of a stall shelf. It's having an effect across

:06:14. > :06:16.the country. In New York City and Washington, DC, police are

:06:17. > :06:19.considering using body after a recent study showed that technology

:06:20. > :06:28.reduced the rate of unnecessary force I50 9%.

:06:29. > :06:34.`` by 59%. They are thinking of using these body cams elsewhere?

:06:35. > :06:38.Yes. Chief has come out and apologised to that 18`year`old shot

:06:39. > :06:40.and killed by police last month, saying he is deeply sorry.

:06:41. > :06:45.Turning to that missing college student, last seen on this

:06:46. > :06:50.surveillance tape. The man seen on the tape has been charged with

:06:51. > :06:59.abduction. He has been discovered in Texas. Where was he headed next?

:07:00. > :07:03.Into Texas court rooms today, the 32`year`old hospital assistance,

:07:04. > :07:10.accused in the disappearance of Hannah Graham, in police custody.

:07:11. > :07:13.Complaining about his jailhouse jumpsuit and the hard bed in his

:07:14. > :07:19.cell, he waived his right to extradition.

:07:20. > :07:27.The lawn arm of the law reached down to a beach in Texas on Wednesday,

:07:28. > :07:31.where they say he pitched at hand. `` the long arm. On Tuesday,

:07:32. > :07:37.somebody called the sheriff at a deputy and he was taken in. Matthew

:07:38. > :07:41.is seen in surveillance videos with Hannah Graham just minutes before

:07:42. > :07:44.she went missing. Police say she had already been drinking heavily and he

:07:45. > :07:49.was buying her more at a restaurant and bar. Today, Abare said that when

:07:50. > :07:57.they left Matthew had to help a walk. Police asked local realtors to

:07:58. > :08:01.search vacant homes for sale. We don't know where Hannah Graham is

:08:02. > :08:04.and we have defined her. It's not clear why Matthew headed to Texas

:08:05. > :08:08.but records show he may have had family there. He has not yet ended a

:08:09. > :08:12.plea. Thank you. From one surge to

:08:13. > :08:17.another. The nationwide man`hunt tonight for the suspect, on the run

:08:18. > :08:22.now for nearly two weeks, accused of ambushing state troopers and killing

:08:23. > :08:30.one father. After being spotted, how is he surviving in the woods?

:08:31. > :08:34.Tonight, law enforcement now battling the elements. We saw the

:08:35. > :08:40.dogs searching the woods. Police said they had picked up his ascent,

:08:41. > :08:48.only to lose it on the wet ground and at water crossings. `` his

:08:49. > :08:50.scent. He has played for months or years for this attack and his

:08:51. > :08:57.efforts to avoid apprehension. Today, we went out with two people

:08:58. > :09:06.who teach survival skills. Watch how he shows how a person can hide in a

:09:07. > :09:12.hollowed out blog. Judy hiding in plain sight. If she doesn't move,

:09:13. > :09:16.there is a good chance he will walk right past her. They believe he

:09:17. > :09:23.knows those tricks. He probably has MREs, things that have heaters, so

:09:24. > :09:28.he can stay on the run. But in these conditions, he can only run so long.

:09:29. > :09:33.The longer they can keep him contained, the more energy he will

:09:34. > :09:38.burn, the more likely he will be to make mistakes and be spotted. And

:09:39. > :09:41.tonight, that's exactly what law enforcement say they are doing.

:09:42. > :09:45.Keeping him on the runs are doing. Keeping him on the run so he tires

:09:46. > :09:49.out and starts to make errors. Thank you.

:09:50. > :09:54.To California and an image of a home break`in. Authorities say a lesson

:09:55. > :10:00.for us all. Incredible. The young woman crouched on her rooftop. Above

:10:01. > :10:06.her, the intruder closing in. Her split`2nd decision saved her life.

:10:07. > :10:11.Tonight, how she survived it. `` split second.

:10:12. > :10:16.A terrifying image. A woman crouched on her roof, wearing only a flannel

:10:17. > :10:20.shirt and cried `` clutching her phone. Authorities say he was an

:10:21. > :10:26.intruder. A homeless man who had broken into her home while she was

:10:27. > :10:29.in bed. She told a local radio station she called police before

:10:30. > :10:39.crawling out of her window. Two minutes later, authorities

:10:40. > :10:40.arrived. The least talked about of the roof while firefighters rushed

:10:41. > :10:45.her down. Was she right to act in her down. Was she right to act in

:10:46. > :10:51.that way? She was. Number one, you run. Number two, Highett. Number

:10:52. > :10:54.three, if you have two, fight to save your life. Batman is now behind

:10:55. > :11:01.bars on $50,000 bail. `` that man. The woman is safe.

:11:02. > :11:06.Thank you. Now to a headline about your money. The Dow Jones closed

:11:07. > :11:13.more than 250 points, the worst day on Wall Street in nearly two months.

:11:14. > :11:18.And the attorney general says he will step down. He was the first

:11:19. > :11:23.African`American to hold the post. And an update on an investigation we

:11:24. > :11:26.brought you last week. Our chief investigator correspondence showed

:11:27. > :11:32.us a common type of guard rail with a slight design change. Hundreds and

:11:33. > :11:36.thousands of them across the country and now a series of lawsuits, saying

:11:37. > :11:43.they are responsible for deadly accidents. State officials are now

:11:44. > :11:46.taking action and making changes. This test film shows what is

:11:47. > :11:51.supposed to happen when a vehicle hit a guard rail head on. An

:11:52. > :11:56.ingenious device. It absorbs the impact and flex the rail of the

:11:57. > :12:00.site. Now, in the wake of a number of accidents where that didn't

:12:01. > :12:04.happen, where guardrails pierced vehicles and people inside,

:12:05. > :12:08.officials are taking action. Rebecca lost her right leg. It was

:12:09. > :12:13.essentially SP that came through my car. Lawyers for her and others now

:12:14. > :12:17.suing the company say as slight modification in the design saved a

:12:18. > :12:23.few dollars but created a dangerous flaw. It makes all the difference in

:12:24. > :12:28.the world. This animation shows what the boys say can happen with the

:12:29. > :12:30.modified version. Today, Missouri says it is stopping further use of

:12:31. > :12:36.the guardrails and Massachusetts said it would stop their use while

:12:37. > :12:38.the investigation takes place. They will take the investigation

:12:39. > :12:43.seriously and hopefully more states will do the same. The company

:12:44. > :12:46.insists the guardrails are safe and they have passed test and neat

:12:47. > :12:50.federal standards. These guardrails are in almost every

:12:51. > :12:53.state. To remove them all would be one of the biggest safety recalls

:12:54. > :12:58.ever. Thank you. There is still much more ahead. The

:12:59. > :13:03.ABC News exclusive. The story that shocked the world. My interview with

:13:04. > :13:07.the parents of the 12`year`old girl left for dead by her friends in the

:13:08. > :13:11.woods. And the NFL star making headlines

:13:12. > :13:15.for a different reason. The story behind a fist bump in the car and

:13:16. > :14:26.what we have learned about his little girl in the back seat.

:14:27. > :14:31.Now to that story that shocked parents around the world. The

:14:32. > :14:35.parents of that Wisconsin 12`year`old, taken into the woods by

:14:36. > :14:40.her own friends and stabbed 19 times and left for dead, all to impress a

:14:41. > :14:46.character they learnt on the internet. She survived and tonight

:14:47. > :14:50.her parents in the first moment they saw her. I walked into the trauma

:14:51. > :14:57.room that she was in. She was pale as a ghost. She was terrified. She

:14:58. > :15:03.was crying, she couldn't breathe. But she saw you? She saw me and she

:15:04. > :15:08.put her hand out. I rushed over to her and hotter and I said, you are

:15:09. > :15:16.going to be OK. It's going to be fine. `` and halved her. I could see

:15:17. > :15:20.she was covered in stab wounds. All I could hear was there were five on

:15:21. > :15:26.her arm, seven on her leg. I'm thinking, seven? What? One of the

:15:27. > :15:31.nurses said she counted 19. The other said she counted 19 as well.

:15:32. > :15:34.Where did she get the strength to crawl out of the woods? When we

:15:35. > :15:40.asked her, she said she wanted to live. Nearly five hours after she

:15:41. > :15:48.called out of those woods, the two other 12 `year`olds at the sleepover

:15:49. > :15:51.are found. Right here, walking. The girl said they would headed to find

:15:52. > :15:55.a mansion where they believe the fictional internet character truly

:15:56. > :16:04.lives. Police say they were hoping to impressive `` impress him. They

:16:05. > :16:13.say they were going to live there. Yes. How do you even wrap your heads

:16:14. > :16:19.around that? I can't. I've tried. Who is this character? He is a

:16:20. > :16:26.faceless creature. He wears a suit and has no hair, no features. He is

:16:27. > :16:30.always there, always in the background is lurking. You only

:16:31. > :16:35.notice him if you are looking closely for him. Be keen to that

:16:36. > :16:39.George Clooney is getting married very soon in Venice. Officials are

:16:40. > :16:46.closing down walkways with the words, matrimony, George Clooney.

:16:47. > :16:50.Pretty obvious! NFL player Devon Still's daughter is

:16:51. > :17:01.battling cancer and facing surgery today. His pet talk `` peptalk

:17:02. > :17:05.online tonight. The tumour has been removed and she is apparently doing

:17:06. > :17:08.well. And this image, a brand`new car

:17:09. > :17:15.taking up two spots. Another driver set up, trapping it. It later

:17:16. > :17:20.reported the car's reaction, saying he wanted to teach him a lesson.

:17:21. > :17:23.`` car owner's reaction.
