:00:00. > :00:00.should not be underestimated. Mike Embley will be here in about 20

:00:00. > :00:07.minutes with the rest of the news. Now, the news as seen in the USA

:00:08. > :00:14.couple of hours ago in ABC News. Tonight, breakthrough. A sound from

:00:15. > :00:19.deep below the ocean. Our search is closing in on the missing passenger

:00:20. > :00:26.plane? But they have learned about the message from deep in the water?

:00:27. > :00:30.`` what have they. Can aspirin save the lives of millions of pregnant

:00:31. > :00:34.women and their babies? Oscar Pistorius tells his story in

:00:35. > :00:47.court, talking directly to the family of the woman he shot.

:00:48. > :00:56.Good evening. We begin this week with new hope and caution and `` in

:00:57. > :01:02.the search for the missing passenger flight. Have the black boxes finally

:01:03. > :01:08.sent a message to all of the people searching? Tonight, investigators

:01:09. > :01:11.are trying to zero in on the truth about the sounds they have heard,

:01:12. > :01:16.pushing even harder to find the boxes before they go silent. We have

:01:17. > :01:20.the very latest on what they are hearing tonight.

:01:21. > :01:24.This US Navy listening device, towed thousands of feet below the

:01:25. > :01:28.surface, heard this. Today, the man leading the search says he believes

:01:29. > :01:36.that is the distinct sound of a black box pinger. This is clearly a

:01:37. > :01:41.promising lead and probably, in the search so far, it is probably the

:01:42. > :01:45.best information that we have had. The towed pinger locator heard the

:01:46. > :01:49.signal for more than two hours. The ship, the Ocean Shield, then turned

:01:50. > :02:03.it around `` turned around and heard it again for another 30 minutes.

:02:04. > :02:07.De two pinger were audible. The ship is now criss`crossing the three

:02:08. > :02:13.square miles section of the south Indian Ocean, listening again.

:02:14. > :02:16.Searchers hope for a third heat and will then send this robot down to

:02:17. > :02:20.the bottom. It will map the ocean floor, looking for wreckage. At the

:02:21. > :02:25.depth in this area are nearly 15,000 feet, right at the limit of the

:02:26. > :02:32.robot's capabilities. `` but the depth. The black boxes will tell us

:02:33. > :02:37.so much. Was the voice of the pilots or someone else a hijacker? Were the

:02:38. > :02:43.course changes on purpose? Did the cabin depressurised by accident or

:02:44. > :02:46.on purpose, telling the passengers? When weather critical communications

:02:47. > :02:53.systems intentionally shut? As we have learned, even from 15,000 feet

:02:54. > :02:58.underwater these boxes survive. Have you ever not gotten dater in a water

:02:59. > :03:09.recovery? I can't think of one where we haven't got a date. `` data. Make

:03:10. > :03:18.it another three or four days past 30. They have to get up, it will

:03:19. > :03:20.take a while. Inside is an indestructible container that holds

:03:21. > :03:24.all of the memory chips that will tell us exactly what the plane was

:03:25. > :03:27.doing. If they find it and its impact, they

:03:28. > :03:31.will find that? It's almost indestructible. It can

:03:32. > :03:38.handle the water. Thank you. Back at home, millions of

:03:39. > :03:42.Americans are breathing a kind of Waterworld. Cash flows, urgent

:03:43. > :03:51.rescues and add to it tornadoes touching down. The families in the

:03:52. > :03:55.storms on. This was the view from the backyard of a twister this

:03:56. > :04:05.afternoon. This morning, families in Mississippi court an awful wake`up.

:04:06. > :04:07.At least 9.8 and `` nine tornadoes. Police are looking for a

:04:08. > :04:17.nine`year`old girl who was swept away by rising waters. The rain came

:04:18. > :04:27.fast. In if you short hours, almost half a foot in Alabama. 91 operators

:04:28. > :04:32.were busy. `` 911. Firefighters had to bring out the votes. Nearly 100

:04:33. > :04:38.families were trapped in this apartment complex. They were trying

:04:39. > :04:48.to make sure everybody is awake. Then in Atlanta had nearly three

:04:49. > :04:52.feet of water on city streets. This giant oak fell across this road, Mr

:04:53. > :04:57.two homes and knocked out power to this entire neighbourhood. There is

:04:58. > :05:03.still potential all the way up to the north`east. New England is

:05:04. > :05:08.already soaking wet. Another whether a note to the

:05:09. > :05:15.north, the calendar says it is April, but frozen Lake Superior it

:05:16. > :05:20.is not get the message. US steel put its massive Indiana plant back into

:05:21. > :05:28.limited production. The frozen lake made it impossible. That has not

:05:29. > :05:33.happened in 30 years. Turbulence returned to Ukraine overseas. John

:05:34. > :05:37.Kerry warned Russia against storing up more trouble. Here is what

:05:38. > :05:44.happened in an eastern part of Ukraine. Public buildings in two

:05:45. > :05:55.cities were seized. A fire on the streets. Lawmakers said that they

:05:56. > :06:03.wanted an independent republic. Now to south Africa. A dramatic day

:06:04. > :06:08.in the trial of Oscar Pistorius. He took the stand and we hear his voice

:06:09. > :06:18.as he talks about his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

:06:19. > :06:22.Oscar Pistorius broke his year`long silence with a tearful apology to

:06:23. > :06:28.the family of his girlfriend. Reeva Steenkamp shot in his bathroom last

:06:29. > :06:35.year. I wake up every morning and the first people I think of and pray

:06:36. > :06:43.for. I cannot imagine the pain and the sorrow I have caused. It was the

:06:44. > :06:51.defence's decision to not allow Oscar Pistorius to be on video. But

:06:52. > :06:54.what we saw was a broken man. He had to sit down for most of the

:06:55. > :07:00.testimony. He has pleaded not guilty. Over three hours, he told

:07:01. > :07:04.his life story, starting with his last year. His declining mental

:07:05. > :07:17.state. And his undying love for Reeva

:07:18. > :07:31.Steenkamp. Earlier testimony had him covering

:07:32. > :07:35.his head, stuffing his thumbs in his ears. He walked out of court looking

:07:36. > :07:47.weak and, expected to return tomorrow. `` we did.

:07:48. > :07:53.And now we turn to a health alert tonight about women and pregnancy. A

:07:54. > :07:59.simple drug in your medicine cabinet can protect expectant mothers and

:08:00. > :08:09.babies from a condition that strikes millions and can be deadly.

:08:10. > :08:14.This woman was diagnosed 36 weeks into her pregnancy. I found out

:08:15. > :08:18.about my high blood pressure. So I was sent straight to the hospital.

:08:19. > :08:23.She was put on bed rest and closely monitored. It was a life`threatening

:08:24. > :08:29.condition for both mother and baby. When a woman's blood pressure is

:08:30. > :08:35.abnormally high. It can be ordered failure, seizure, Peter and

:08:36. > :08:43.delivery, even death. But till today it affects approximately 160,000

:08:44. > :08:49.deliveries. Today's recommendation, a simple dose of aspirin daily. We

:08:50. > :08:54.do not know why it works. Theories point to reducing inflammation and

:08:55. > :09:02.increasing blood flow. It cuts the risk as much as 24% without

:09:03. > :09:12.significant complications. The fracking pregnancy resulted in a

:09:13. > :09:19.beautiful baby. `` no racking. The outcome that recommendations hope to

:09:20. > :09:23.replicate. Neither one American family is

:09:24. > :09:27.counting their blessings and facing some tough questions about why the

:09:28. > :09:32.risk taking two small children on a dangerous trip to the open ocean.

:09:33. > :09:40.The family being plucked from the high seas in the nick of time.

:09:41. > :09:48.Tonight he rescued family is safely aboard a US Navy ship. On land the

:09:49. > :09:51.storm of controversy is growing. Anger as to why a family would take

:09:52. > :10:00.a one`year`old on a round the world broke trip. Boat trip. It all began

:10:01. > :10:12.when she fell ill with a severe rash and fever. The family were sailing

:10:13. > :10:16.900 miles from the coast of Mexico. They call for help, sending a

:10:17. > :10:24.distress signal. That is when the Navy raced in. Tonight and officer

:10:25. > :10:29.aboard the rescue ship with an update. Everybody is in a stable

:10:30. > :10:34.condition. They are thankful that we were able to rescue them, very

:10:35. > :10:39.appreciative. They are eager to get back to land. The family are

:10:40. > :10:48.expected to arrive in San Diego on Wednesday. In a statement, the

:10:49. > :10:51.family defended the trip, saying: still, before being rescued, there

:10:52. > :11:06.were doubts. Still ahead, our money team is back

:11:07. > :11:08.with something 90% of us do not do every month when it comes to paying

:11:09. > :12:07.our bills. And it is costing money. our bills. And it is costing money.

:12:08. > :12:10.You may not even know you are spending it. A lot of us who do not

:12:11. > :12:18.look at our credit card bills are paying an average of $365 a year in

:12:19. > :12:24.extra charges. We can show you how to get your money back.

:12:25. > :12:29.This couple thought it would never happen to them. I would love that

:12:30. > :12:36.camera, personally. Definitely something that we would not buy.

:12:37. > :12:41.$463 charge for a high`tech camera 700 miles away from their home. This

:12:42. > :12:46.was the fraud. It is not just for charges. One in four of us are

:12:47. > :12:57.victims of what they call great charges. That is what happened to

:12:58. > :13:06.Tom. He got monthly charges. Megan found out pro`GM charged at $250 in

:13:07. > :13:14.extra fees. And Matthew discovered some companies were charging him

:13:15. > :13:17.twice for the same service. You can protect yourself by scanning your

:13:18. > :13:24.own bills regularly and closely. Just 10% of us actually do. Our

:13:25. > :13:29.mother told us growing up that he need to check your bills. Most of us

:13:30. > :13:33.do not. Some services can help you monitor your bills by automatically

:13:34. > :13:44.scouring them for questionable charges. Deceptive and misleading

:13:45. > :13:50.marketing and sales tactics cost us more money. If you think you are

:13:51. > :13:59.being wrongly billed, you can unsubscribe. You will get your money

:14:00. > :14:06.back. It also found this fraud and they now attract every charge.

:14:07. > :14:14.Knowing even the small ones could add up.

:14:15. > :14:20.Tonight we want to say thanks a million, and we do mean a million.

:14:21. > :14:33.12 of you. 1 million likes on Facebook. `` to all of you.

:14:34. > :14:40.Take an eight`month`old baby on a trip and you're taking bottles,

:14:41. > :14:45.papers and blanket bags. And these parents are taking something else,

:14:46. > :14:52.and international press Corps. Prince George is starting his first

:14:53. > :14:56.real road trip. The welcome fit for a king. A

:14:57. > :15:04.ceremonial New Zealand greeting from the country's indigenous people. A

:15:05. > :15:11.welcome from Maori warriors who are not very much at all. But the main

:15:12. > :15:24.attraction, the royal cuteness. Managing to outshine his parents

:15:25. > :15:34.with royal cuteness. Really, it was all about this boy. Could it be, his

:15:35. > :15:40.first Royal wave? You can see them. The baby is looking adorable. The

:15:41. > :15:48.visit begins. The Duke and Duchess will compete in their own America's

:15:49. > :15:53.Cup races and visit Christchurch. But by George, today was all about a

:15:54. > :16:00.baby who even after a 30 hour flight behaved like a prince.

:16:01. > :16:03.We will see you again tomorrow night.
