:00:36. > :00:39.grieve over the missing plane. You are accused of being a high`stakes
:00:40. > :00:50.ambulance chaser. A lot more snow on the way. Good evening to you. On
:00:51. > :00:54.this Wednesday night, we start with the urgent race to save hundreds of
:00:55. > :01:10.people thinking into the ocean. It began as a slow motion tragedy, a
:01:11. > :01:14.giant fairy taking on water. We read the text messages from students on
:01:15. > :01:22.board to their family members on land. A desperate rescue mission.
:01:23. > :01:30.First responders struggling to reach the massive ferry, on its side and
:01:31. > :01:36.sinking fast. Locking passengers, many of them teenagers, clutching
:01:37. > :01:42.railings to keep their footing `` plucking passengers. It was very
:01:43. > :01:47.intense. The ship was tilted more than 45 degrees. Helicopters
:01:48. > :01:53.dropping first responders onto the sinking boat. This woman clinging to
:01:54. > :02:00.a balcony railing. Grabbing hold of a rescuer's hand. Lifting people to
:02:01. > :02:09.safety, one by one, from the deck. And from frigid 50 degrees water,
:02:10. > :02:13.watch as this life raft is thrown to survivors floating 12 miles from
:02:14. > :02:17.land in the middle of the sea. The boat was sailing to a southern
:02:18. > :02:22.resort island, most of the passengers were high school students
:02:23. > :02:27.on a class trip. Near the end of the journey, survivors say they heard a
:02:28. > :02:34.thud, and the boat again to turn on its side. One floor below, the
:02:35. > :02:41.crowded cafeteria and game room, where many were thought to have been
:02:42. > :02:43.trapped. Tonight, questions about whether those passengers were told
:02:44. > :02:46.to wait for help rather than trying to get out. TRANSLATION: The
:02:47. > :02:53.announcement told us we should stay still. At the ship was already
:02:54. > :03:00.sinking. It took just two hours for the boat to go from this, to this.
:03:01. > :03:02.Sinking in 90 foot seas. On shore, hundreds of angry, frantic
:03:03. > :03:04.families. Korean news stations reported some parents received texts
:03:05. > :03:29.from their children. Tonight, the parents are scanning a
:03:30. > :03:34.handwritten list of survivors. Searching for their loved ones'
:03:35. > :03:38.names. The latest numbers are six dead, and 200 still missing, as the
:03:39. > :03:43.search gets under way on its second day. Thank you very much. And so
:03:44. > :03:48.many people here at home watching that large vote sink were asking,
:03:49. > :03:57.what could you do to survive in that situation? `` large boat. Could you
:03:58. > :04:08.swim away? Our correspondent with a survival guide. It took just two
:04:09. > :04:13.hours for the ferry to disappear. I spoke to the chief naval engineer
:04:14. > :04:16.for the coastguard. I suspect it had damaged on the left`hand side of the
:04:17. > :04:24.ship. That caused flooding, which made the ship keel over. Even a
:04:25. > :04:35.large ship can sink very quickly. This one went under in moments. In
:04:36. > :04:43.1991, this ship took over a day. The ship can suck survivors under the
:04:44. > :04:56.water. It was reportedly in a rocky area, if it struck a rock, it could
:04:57. > :05:00.have taken on water quite quickly. The ship would have gone under
:05:01. > :05:08.quickly. Escape becomes impossible. If they jumped, it would be 25 feet
:05:09. > :05:12.from an upper deck into the water. You really shouldn't jump unless you
:05:13. > :05:20.know it will sink or you have a place to go. And back here at home,
:05:21. > :05:26.it is hard to believe our eyes. So much snow. In mid April. Cars and

:05:35. > :05:37.celebrate spring `` and just when we thought we were clear to celebrate
:05:38. > :05:44.spring. We asked our correspondent whether it has ever happened this
:05:45. > :05:48.late in spring before. The snowploughs are back, with fresh
:05:49. > :05:54.snow in Minnesota tonight. From Alabama to New Hampshire, we are
:05:55. > :05:59.asking, this is spring? A dramatic drop in temperatures, with winds
:06:00. > :06:24.gusting to 70 mph. At least one person is dead, in as floodwaters
:06:25. > :06:30.swept him away. Chicago has seen a trace of snow as late as June two,
:06:31. > :06:34.and Boston made the 10th. Can you believe it? More snow was on the
:06:35. > :06:36.way. This would be for the Northern great Lakes. We are talking 4`8
:06:37. > :06:42.inches. Some places 12 inches or more. That is abnormal. They get
:06:43. > :06:47.snow here in April. It will stick around for one more day. There is
:06:48. > :06:52.freeze warnings. It is hovering around the States, just above
:06:53. > :07:00.freezing mark. Just for one more day and then it will warm up. What we
:07:01. > :07:04.have learned today from that bomb scare in Boston. It introduced a
:07:05. > :07:09.strange twist to an inspiring anniversary. Today we saw the man
:07:10. > :07:15.accused of the hoax in court and read a statement from his mother
:07:16. > :07:20.that was a plea for help. At his hearing in a Boston courtroom, this
:07:21. > :07:25.man appeared grim, but said nothing. The 25`year`old is in a
:07:26. > :07:28.state psychiatric hospital tonight. Accused of leaving the backpack at
:07:29. > :07:31.the finish line that led to some tense moments on the one`year
:07:32. > :07:35.anniversary of the Marathon bombing. He was stopped by a police
:07:36. > :07:38.officer who saw him ranting and walking barefoot in the middle of
:07:39. > :07:43.the street in the pouring rain. The backpack was blown up as a
:07:44. > :07:52.precaution. Police later said there was nothing explosive inside, just a
:07:53. > :07:53.rice cooker filled with confetti. His mother told ABC News the
