:00:00. > :00:00.Mike Embley will be in the chair at 2am, but now I will leave you with

:00:00. > :00:10.the news as seen across the US a couple of hours ago.

:00:11. > :00:16.Welcome to world news, tonight, path of destruction. Dozens of tornadoes,

:00:17. > :00:22.the worst outbreak this year. Cutting through neighbourhoods,

:00:23. > :00:25.wreaking havoc on the roads. A family hides in the closet, and

:00:26. > :00:34.emerges to see this. Everything around them, gone. I just remember

:00:35. > :00:39.hearing my dad yelled, please God, to save my family. Our team on the

:00:40. > :00:42.ground tonight, as more dangerous storms Bear Down. And, brand`new

:00:43. > :00:46.research showing how you're stressed that family members and friends,

:00:47. > :01:01.even strangers around you, could be hurting your health. Big news about

:01:02. > :01:05.second`hand stress. 25 million Americans are still on

:01:06. > :01:10.alert in the worst tornado outbreak of the season. A long and dangerous

:01:11. > :01:14.night ahead. Just hours ago, this was the scene. A large twister

:01:15. > :01:19.striking Mississippi, estimated at a mile wide. This is after dozens of

:01:20. > :01:22.tornadoes were bearing down on the midwest and South. One of the most

:01:23. > :01:27.powerful wrought through the outskirts of Little Rock, Arkansas,

:01:28. > :01:34.carving a trail on the ground for 40 miles. Images like these, stunned

:01:35. > :01:46.families who barely survived their shattered homes. Alex Peres is in

:01:47. > :01:50.the path of destruction tonight. Tonight, we are getting our first

:01:51. > :01:55.real look at the destruction. As you look around, you can see pieces of

:01:56. > :01:59.people's lives, like this mangled stroller. You can see how powerful

:02:00. > :02:04.it was, cars crushed just like tin cans.

:02:05. > :02:09.Tonight, massive, violent tornadoes on the ground in Mississippi,

:02:10. > :02:15.demolishing buildings and knocking out powerlines. This view shows the

:02:16. > :02:20.destruction from above. Here is the town before the tornado, and here it

:02:21. > :02:25.is after. In Mayflower, the storm twisted and piled semitrailers on

:02:26. > :02:28.top of each other. This family saw the neighbourhood in valonia,

:02:29. > :02:41.Arkansas, for the first time today, completely flattened. `` Vilonia.

:02:42. > :02:45.They huddled in the closet together and prayed. I didn't think we were

:02:46. > :02:55.going to make it, I just remember hearing my dad yelled, please God,

:02:56. > :02:58.just save my family. He did. He did. Rescue crews worked through the

:02:59. > :03:03.night, searching for survivors. These stunning images were captured

:03:04. > :03:09.as one woman is pulled from the rubble alive with a dog. Then, two

:03:10. > :03:13.other survivors surfaced. The house was moved off the foundation and

:03:14. > :03:22.they were buried in the debris. They had to dig them out. It was

:03:23. > :03:27.dramatic, it was sad. From Nebraska to Louisiana, houses turned upside

:03:28. > :03:38.down. One in Kansas cut and eight mile path of description all the way

:03:39. > :03:44.to Louisiana `` destruction. For the Mulligan family, a sign of hope

:03:45. > :03:46.amidst so much despair. Their daughter's high school softball

:03:47. > :03:51.medal found half a mile away from where their home once stood.

:03:52. > :03:54.Tonight, this community is coming together for hours. We have seen

:03:55. > :03:58.people from all across the area coming together, working through

:03:59. > :04:03.piles of debris and salvaging whatever they can. Keeping keepsakes

:04:04. > :04:13.so they can have some memories. Tonight, the Road ahead, the

:04:14. > :04:21.cleanup, has a long way to go. As we saw, those tornadoes mostly hit

:04:22. > :04:24.homes, people on highways had to make split`2nd decisions when they

:04:25. > :04:27.suddenly saw eight final cloud heading towards them. Our

:04:28. > :04:38.correspondent shows us how to stay safe if this happens. Just go. Just

:04:39. > :04:44.go. It happens this easily. It is right over us. These people were on

:04:45. > :04:52.this highway when they had to run for their lives, driving every way

:04:53. > :05:03.to avoid a tornado. Turnaround! Go! Turnaround! It is coming at us. They

:05:04. > :05:09.made it home safely. But on Interstate 40 in Arkansas, there

:05:10. > :05:15.were multiple injuries. Drivers who remained in cars and trucks which

:05:16. > :05:19.were tossed and turned. These meteorologists are working in the

:05:20. > :05:24.danger zone tonight. They say it is simple physics. You should get out

:05:25. > :05:33.of the car, run into the nearest ditch, and cover your head and neck.

:05:34. > :05:38.Cars are deathtraps. If they are hitting the car and going underneath

:05:39. > :05:44.the car, it could end up half a mile down the road. Ditch is low, it is

:05:45. > :05:49.the basement of the highway. Tonight, the storms which it

:05:50. > :05:56.Mississippi moved into Alabama. Much of the system is moving east into

:05:57. > :06:00.Georgia. This area will remain in the highest risk for tornadoes. At

:06:01. > :06:08.one point, while we were driving through it, the hail came crashing

:06:09. > :06:15.down. We looked at the radar and saw a tornado moving less than a mile

:06:16. > :06:17.away. Next tonight, the White House delivers a new challenge to Vladimir

:06:18. > :06:23.Putin. President Obama announces new sanctions targeting Russian

:06:24. > :06:29.officials and companies linked to the combat of Russian leader. In the

:06:30. > :06:36.streets of one Russian city today, `` one Ukrainian city, pro`Russian

:06:37. > :06:43.forces were active. This is a country ready to explode, nearly at

:06:44. > :06:46.war with itself. This is exactly what they were worried about. Some

:06:47. > :06:52.people rushed into the crowd and all hell broke loose. You can hear the

:06:53. > :07:00.explosions as we are talking. It did not start out this way. These

:07:01. > :07:08.demonstrators siding with the United States demanding their country be

:07:09. > :07:12.liberated. There's tonight that seems like this may only escalate.

:07:13. > :07:19.Watch the exact moment this manner set a home`made bomb. Other bloodied

:07:20. > :07:25.and beaten protesters, no words, just a piece of sign. This man was

:07:26. > :07:32.hit with a break. These new economic sanctions target Russia's in a

:07:33. > :07:38.circle of supporters. Government officials include one that Vladimir

:07:39. > :07:41.Putin has personal investment in. They stop short of hitting his

:07:42. > :07:46.wealth directly, estimated in the tens of billions of dollars. It is

:07:47. > :07:51.not sanctions, but security which people want most. This man tells me

:07:52. > :07:54.people cannot sleep at night because they don't know whether they will be

:07:55. > :08:03.attacked tomorrow. And is now tonight, AOL conducted an

:08:04. > :08:08.investigation and found unauthorised access to user accounts. E`mail

:08:09. > :08:11.addresses, passwords, and security questions. They advise everyone of

:08:12. > :08:16.their customers to change their passwords and security questions

:08:17. > :08:22.just in case. And now to the US Congressmen making headlines. Today

:08:23. > :08:28.this man surrendered to the FBI to face charges of tax evasion. He was

:08:29. > :08:32.what is called a rising star of the Republican Party but then threatened

:08:33. > :08:45.a reporter on live TV ads tonight faces a new charge. Michael Grimm

:08:46. > :08:53.came to Washington on the Tea Party wave of 2010, vowing to restore

:08:54. > :08:59.order to the capital. He is probably best known for this moment. Losing

:09:00. > :09:04.his cool when a reporter asked about an investigation closing in. He

:09:05. > :09:15.stormed off without carrying through on his threat, but today he was

:09:16. > :09:23.indicted on Federal fraud charges. He is accused of underreporting $1

:09:24. > :09:27.million in profits at a restaurant he once owned. Prosecutors say he

:09:28. > :09:32.paid some employees in cash to avoid taxes. This political `` political

:09:33. > :09:36.witch`hunt was designed to do several things, to attack my

:09:37. > :09:41.character and push me out of office. This Congressmen were seen

:09:42. > :09:46.as in a surveillance video, locked in a passionate kiss with a woman on

:09:47. > :09:49.his staff. Tonight, McAllister says he will not run for re`election this

:09:50. > :09:53.year. My decision not to run for re`election is about my family. I

:09:54. > :09:58.want to spend more time with them. Two ways to take care of political

:09:59. > :10:04.business in Washington. At next, news for everyone in the country who

:10:05. > :10:08.is stressed out. Good stress and people `` good stress from people

:10:09. > :10:13.around you be as dangerous as your own? A pioneering experiment on

:10:14. > :10:15.second`hand stress. We will be back in two minutes with much more on

:10:16. > :11:03.World News. Next year tonight, some pioneering

:11:04. > :11:08.research with a real surprise about stress. We know that colds are

:11:09. > :11:12.contagious, can you catch other peoples stress, and does it have an

:11:13. > :11:18.effect on your risk of stroke, heart attack, and depression? Super

:11:19. > :11:23.stressful situations. Does just watching them make you

:11:24. > :11:27.uncomfortable? Well, research has say if you witnessed them in

:11:28. > :11:31.person, the emotional effects could be even worse. They now believe

:11:32. > :11:37.stress is contagious, just like a cold. It is all around us. They are

:11:38. > :11:42.studying it here. This man is behaving like he is stressed out.

:11:43. > :11:49.But researchers are actually interested in the stranger sitting

:11:50. > :11:55.nearby. The question? Will he catch the first manned's stress. They

:11:56. > :11:58.found the answer was yes. He caught the other man's distress, even

:11:59. > :12:03.though they had never met. You can elicit these responses just why

:12:04. > :12:08.sitting and watching someone else under stress. Researchers say it is

:12:09. > :12:13.passed on through things like facial expressions, odour, and parts. While

:12:14. > :12:17.you can get it from a stranger, studies show you up four times more

:12:18. > :12:22.likely to get it from someone you know. Watch what happens to these

:12:23. > :12:27.mothers. Research is attached cardiovascular senses to measure

:12:28. > :12:32.their heart rate and other indicators of stress. They had to

:12:33. > :12:36.give an impromptu speech while evaluators scowled critically. Their

:12:37. > :12:42.children played happily in another room. And when reunited with their

:12:43. > :12:49.mother, they were hooked up to senses as well. All the babies of

:12:50. > :12:56.stressed mothers had an equally elevated heart rate. `` hooked up to

:12:57. > :13:01.sensored. This twaddle even seemed uncomfortable with the evaluator who

:13:02. > :13:05.was mean to her mother. They say that being aware of this can help

:13:06. > :13:09.you balance your own emotions. The first step to managing second`hand

:13:10. > :13:16.stress. And finally tonight, let's face it. Nearly everyone was talking

:13:17. > :13:23.about the woman with the formidable resume joining forces with a man who

:13:24. > :13:30.used celebrity for some purposes. We hear more about the people behind

:13:31. > :13:45.the pictures. Tonight, it's not often that an engagement rockets

:13:46. > :13:50.around the world. She is an opt Oxford educated attorney. They have

:13:51. > :13:56.a shared passion for humanitarian work and family background. Her

:13:57. > :13:59.mother is a journalist as well. The world's most eligible bachelor

:14:00. > :14:07.tonight no longer running from the altar. And teaching us all a lesson

:14:08. > :14:13.to never say never. And we thank you for watching. We are always here on

:14:14. > :14:26.our website. We will see you again tomorrow night.

:14:27. > :14:33.A change in the weather is on its way for the end of the week, but for

:14:34. > :14:37.the time being we start on a mild night. Grey, misty and murky day for

:14:38. > :14:38.most to begin with. A bit of brightness breaking through in
