:00:00. > :00:00.Major League Soccer in the United States. Time now for a look at the

:00:00. > :00:08.news as seen across the United States a couple of hours ago, in ABC

:00:09. > :00:12.World News with Dianne Sawyer. Welcome to World News. Tonight, the

:00:13. > :00:17.whirlwind, a fire storm swirling around the deer which freed this

:00:18. > :00:22.prisoner of war. We investigate who he is, how he was taken, and how

:00:23. > :00:28.dangerous are the Taliban leaders now living in freedom and luxury.

:00:29. > :00:31.Really unfriendly skies. The big new spike in the number of unruly

:00:32. > :00:35.aeroplane passengers. Tonight, how the airline 's plan to fight back.

:00:36. > :00:42.Learn away. Two children the latest to be blown into the air on a bounce

:00:43. > :00:47.slide, tossed IR Gust of wind. A new federal investigation tonight. And

:00:48. > :00:50.consumer alert, we investigate your favourite foods shrinking at the

:00:51. > :00:55.grocery store, while the pricetag stays the same, tonight, how to stay

:00:56. > :01:07.on the lookout and spot it for yourself. Good evening to you on

:01:08. > :01:20.this Monday night. We began with the fast moving story of American Bowe

:01:21. > :01:26.Bergdahl, and the fire storm over his release. People are wondering

:01:27. > :01:30.about the five released in his stead. The only thing everyone seems

:01:31. > :01:33.to agree on is that those sent to his rescue were heroic. Our courage

:01:34. > :01:39.of the release of Bowe Bergdahl begins with our correspondent. Good

:01:40. > :01:42.evening Diane. Tonight we are hearing stunning new accusations

:01:43. > :01:46.from the soldiers who served with Bowe Bergdahl. And those who risk

:01:47. > :01:50.their lives to save him. With even a former senior defence official

:01:51. > :01:57.tonight calling Bowe Bergdahl a deserter. Tonight, the question: who

:01:58. > :02:10.really is Bowe Bergdahl? The soldier, hospitalised in condition

:02:11. > :02:13.in a stable condition, he is now speaking in his native language.

:02:14. > :02:21.Finding English difficult. It was 7pm Saturday, with US drones and

:02:22. > :02:28.helicopter tracking, as team of so`called lack operators. `` as a

:02:29. > :02:35.team of so`called black operators. The 10th exchange, but no shots

:02:36. > :02:40.fired as the 28th Rob was hustled into a helicopter. Soon his appeared

:02:41. > :02:50.with the President in the Rose Garden. `` 28`year`old. His parents

:02:51. > :02:55.expressed deep gratitude. Today, the controversy over the deal, releasing

:02:56. > :03:00.those five members of the Taliban, is only growing. In some of the

:03:01. > :03:05.soldiers who served with Bowe Bergdahl, described as a skilled

:03:06. > :03:12.marksman who also like ballet and was homeschooled and is home`town,

:03:13. > :03:15.are beginning to speak out. His former team leader described him as

:03:16. > :03:21.a good soldier who wanted to help the Afghan people. But that Bowe

:03:22. > :03:24.Bergdahl began complaining about the US role in the war. He was

:03:25. > :03:29.definitely upset and frustrated with the war effort and how we were

:03:30. > :03:31.handling our business. Than just two months into his deployment, early in

:03:32. > :03:37.the morning, Bowe Bergdahl disappeared. Leaving his body

:03:38. > :03:43.armour, weapons, and Helmut kind. And while glad he is alive and free,

:03:44. > :03:48.he is considered by some as a deserter. He walked away. Walked

:03:49. > :03:52.right out of the base. A fact of the matter is that he deserted us in the

:03:53. > :03:56.middle of Afghanistan to go and find the Taliban. Within hours, Bowe

:03:57. > :04:02.Bergdahl would be in the hands of the Taliban, and the US military

:04:03. > :04:06.would be launching a massive search. A search which soldiers say

:04:07. > :04:11.it resulted in the depths of American soldiers. People calling

:04:12. > :04:17.him a hero and this great soldier, it is a spit in the face to the

:04:18. > :04:21.soldiers who were there, and more importantly, it is a spit in the

:04:22. > :04:27.face to the soldiers who died as a direct result of him leaving. The

:04:28. > :04:30.Pentagon has never on the record said that Bowe Bergdahl walked away

:04:31. > :04:35.from his post, but the former defence official agreed with the

:04:36. > :04:39.sergeant. He said that he believes that Bowe Bergdahl was seeking out

:04:40. > :04:43.the Tao banned. What is needed now, of course, is Bowe Bergdahl's side

:04:44. > :04:50.of the story `` Taliban. The decision to release major Taliban

:04:51. > :04:54.prisoners as part of the deal, has triggered a furious wave of

:04:55. > :04:59.criticism. Five members of the Taliban set free now receiving a

:05:00. > :05:02.hero 's' welcome, living in a fashionable neighbourhood. Our

:05:03. > :05:09.correspondent now on how dangerous they are. Tonight, the five freed

:05:10. > :05:18.detainees are living in the midst of luxury in a Taliban Villa in Qatar,

:05:19. > :05:22.in the capital city of Doha. Video shows the men receiving a hero 's'

:05:23. > :05:27.welcome. As they arrived there over the weekend. There was no sign they

:05:28. > :05:30.were in custody or under guard. The families were flown in to be with

:05:31. > :05:35.them and the only known condition imposed by the US was that they not

:05:36. > :05:40.travel outside Qatar by at least a year. I think these are very

:05:41. > :05:45.seasoned strategic leaders of the Taliban. Today in Washington,

:05:46. > :05:50.Republicans said the deal was Atwan in a number of ways. We have to be

:05:51. > :05:52.concerned not only would the printable of negotiating the

:05:53. > :05:59.terrorists, but the five who were released in exchange for Bowe

:06:00. > :06:08.Bergdahl. US assessments made six years ago found a high risk to the

:06:09. > :06:10.US if they were set free. Perhaps greatest concern is the former

:06:11. > :06:14.Deputy Defence Minister of the Taliban. The US assessment found

:06:15. > :06:18.that if released, he would likely rejoin the Taliban. They also

:06:19. > :06:23.accused him of possible war crimes and the murders of thousands of

:06:24. > :06:28.Shi'ite Muslims in Afghanistan. The White House said the exchange was

:06:29. > :06:31.the right thing to do. The United States does not leave men and women

:06:32. > :06:36.in uniform behind. After more than 12 years in captivity away from the

:06:37. > :06:41.battlefield, it is not clear how much immediate value the five men

:06:42. > :06:53.would have to the Taliban now. But today, one man emerged from hiding

:06:54. > :06:56.to call it a great victory. As the debate continues to rage, military

:06:57. > :07:01.doctors are hard at work trying to help Bowe Bergdahl prepare for a

:07:02. > :07:04.slow and difficult transition back to American life. So why is it so

:07:05. > :07:09.difficult? Our correspondent travels to his hometown in Iowa. For Bowe

:07:10. > :07:13.Bergdahl, freedom is collocated. You Bergdahl, freedom is collocated. You

:07:14. > :07:19.can imagine what he has endured, but this British filmmaker Ken. `` you

:07:20. > :07:24.can't imagine. I'm terrified of numerous things. Held by 3.5 months

:07:25. > :07:31.by the same group, he says it was terrifying. The real struggle is not

:07:32. > :07:35.in captivity, surviving. It is when you are released. That is when the

:07:36. > :07:39.real struggle begins, coming home. Is it that when Bowe Bergdahl comes

:07:40. > :07:44.home to this tiny town in Idaho, it won't be easy to leave behind the

:07:45. > :07:49.trauma of his time as a prisoner. Even the simplest chores may become

:07:50. > :07:52.a challenge. The elation of being home and free and pasting my first

:07:53. > :08:00.salad and cold beer, holding my children in my arms, you are filled

:08:01. > :08:05.with love. `` pasting. And a few months later, every night for six

:08:06. > :08:09.months I would see images of death. Bowe Bergdahl was held for five

:08:10. > :08:14.years, taken in a moat mountains of eastern Afghanistan. Analysts have

:08:15. > :08:21.pointed out it looks quite similar to his home town. That might help to

:08:22. > :08:25.make what the military calls a soft landing back home. Video obtained by

:08:26. > :08:31.the Guardian shows Bowe Bergdahl's father in a tense, where he used a

:08:32. > :08:35.hike. He says his son could possibly find solitude here. We set this up

:08:36. > :08:38.for him hoping he can get home. There is no timetable for his

:08:39. > :08:40.recovery. He may be physically free, but the mental side will take

:08:41. > :09:04.longer. today for the biggest attack to

:09:05. > :09:11.climate change in the Obama administration. It is said to reduce

:09:12. > :09:15.emissions by 30% over 15 years. Environmental groups are calling it

:09:16. > :09:18.a historic move but others are calling it a job killer that will

:09:19. > :09:23.decrease the price of energy. The president tried to get climate

:09:24. > :09:28.change in his first term of legislation but Congress was

:09:29. > :09:32.deadlocked. Though the one your comment period is expected to be a

:09:33. > :09:41.political firefight. Now from power plants to an aeroplane that trades

:09:42. > :09:46.jet fuel for solar power. Today, a Swiss plane running on solar power

:09:47. > :09:49.to its first flight over Switzerland. It has over 17,000

:09:50. > :09:57.solar cells and flew over two hours. The ultimate goal is an

:09:58. > :10:02.around the world flight next year. More turbulence in the air but this

:10:03. > :10:09.time from passengers. The number of unruly incidents has soared to over

:10:10. > :10:11.8,000 last year. Now we go to our correspondant who is talking about

:10:12. > :10:23.the not so friendly people in the sky. There is a bomb on this plane

:10:24. > :10:26.excavation Mark. Many more drunk and unstable passengers are losing it in

:10:27. > :10:33.the air. This flight had to make an emergency landing in Atlanta. This

:10:34. > :10:39.was on a flight from Iceland to JFK, a wild passenger who drank a

:10:40. > :10:45.whole bottle of the good stuff at duty free, had to be duct taped to

:10:46. > :10:49.his seat. Airlines say they are fed up with more than 8200 incidents

:10:50. > :10:55.reported worldwide last year up from 5200 and 2012. For now coming to the

:10:56. > :10:59.solution is intensive training for airline workers and increased

:11:00. > :11:05.charges for the cost of these disruptions, up to $200,000 for

:11:06. > :11:14.divergent flights. International law makes it difficult to collect from

:11:15. > :11:18.passengers to cost so much there are Jack and Coke may become just Coke.

:11:19. > :11:22.This man was a flight attendant for 15 years and has seen it all. He

:11:23. > :11:30.believes that taking drinks away may make things worse. You would have a

:11:31. > :11:35.lot more people who would be upset and you go to the bar in the

:11:36. > :11:40.airport. Passengers on this flight missed their connections, there were

:11:41. > :11:45.extra fuel costs and the people responsible should have to pay for

:11:46. > :11:52.that according to the airline. Tonight, the end of a 40 year Royal

:11:53. > :11:57.era in Spain. King Juan Carlos said today that he would abdicate in

:11:58. > :12:03.favour of his 46`year`old son. What does this mean for the British Royal

:12:04. > :12:09.family? Well, Prince Charles is still eligible but there is no sign

:12:10. > :12:15.that Elizabeth will abdicate anytime soon. The monster dust storm that

:12:16. > :12:22.blew across Iran, a huge wall of dust blocked out the sun with wins

:12:23. > :12:26.at roughly 70 mph. Four people were killed and power was knocked out all

:12:27. > :12:30.over the city. Children and the elderly were told to stay indoors

:12:31. > :12:34.until the skies cleared. Real answers coming up next, can you tell

:12:35. > :12:42.the difference between these two packages The Miz we investigate

:12:43. > :12:48.products that may be giving you less bang for your buck. Is this the new

:12:49. > :12:50.family pet trend in America? Why dogs and cats suddenly have new

:12:51. > :13:45.cuddly competition. causing another big stare for the

:13:46. > :13:49.second time in a month `` scare, children were tossed a number of

:13:50. > :13:53.feet on a bouncing castle with experts now considering a new

:13:54. > :13:58.warning. Tonight's scary bouncing house mishaps have federal safety

:13:59. > :14:04.officials on alert. Launching an investigation after two children

:14:05. > :14:16.were blown away in this dangerous tumble. 14 mile`per`hour wind gusts

:14:17. > :14:25.had this bouncing castle blown a 300 feet. One girl was bounced free but

:14:26. > :14:34.another was trapped inside. The company insisted that the bouncing

:14:35. > :14:44.castle was secure. In recent years, injuries have bounced up 1500%. On

:14:45. > :14:48.average, one child is said to and emergency room every 15 minutes. In

:14:49. > :14:55.upstate New York, strong winds launched two boys to defeat high,

:14:56. > :15:00.and one of them is still in a coma. We have a long road ahead of us, IT

:15:01. > :15:05.is doing OK. Federal officials tell us they will now considered new

:15:06. > :15:12.warnings hoping to keep injuries down. Next, we investigate something

:15:13. > :15:17.still happening at grocery stores up Ross America. Your favourite foods

:15:18. > :15:25.shrinking inside the packages while the price remains the same `` across

:15:26. > :15:34.America. Ready for some grocery shopping? Just as the interest of

:15:35. > :15:42.the children is starting to grow, this mother is finding less product

:15:43. > :15:49.for the old price. This man has spent his career tracking products

:15:50. > :15:56.and shrinking packages. So this is than you and this is the old. Take a

:15:57. > :16:01.look at these two boxes of crackers. The new box has 20 fewer

:16:02. > :16:09.crackers. And how about these juice boxes? Identical prices of what the

:16:10. > :16:21.new one has 10% less Jews. `` juice. And it is not just food. This

:16:22. > :16:26.large pack of diapers used to hold 100 diapers but now it only holds 92

:16:27. > :16:31.although the price is the same. That means a $200 additional spending on

:16:32. > :16:39.diapers before a baby is potty trained. And look at what is

:16:40. > :16:48.shrinking right before our eyes. 70% last in toilet paper packaging. The

:16:49. > :16:57.old way is four and a quarter inches and the new measurement is less than

:16:58. > :17:06.four inches. What is the difference between these two? The new one is

:17:07. > :17:11.two ounces last. So do some checking before you hit the checkout. We

:17:12. > :17:16.reached out to manufacturers who told us that when their costs rise,

:17:17. > :17:22.they sometimes I just the amount of product inside packages. Remember

:17:23. > :17:28.those cookies? Here they are. It is hard to tell which one is which but

:17:29. > :17:40.this is the smaller package with six fewer cookies. Thank you so much.

:17:41. > :17:44.Here is what made it to the top of our index this Monday. Maybe she

:17:45. > :17:49.should have followed her instincts. This woman in Fort Lauderdale

:17:50. > :17:55.Florida asked a friend, what if I get bitten by something? I don't

:17:56. > :18:02.like murky waters but I had a feeling there might be a shark. 30

:18:03. > :18:10.seconds later, a shark bit her leg and smacked her in the head with

:18:11. > :18:13.it's been. It smacked my face. After surgery yesterday, she will still

:18:14. > :18:21.have a souvenir on her lower leg from the shark. And a quick sign of

:18:22. > :18:26.the times today, this US ambassador to Switzerland was sworn in on an EU

:18:27. > :18:33.reader which held a digital copy of the Constitution which makes her the

:18:34. > :18:37.first ambassador ever to be sworn in over pixels. In this nation that

:18:38. > :18:44.loves our cats and dogs we want to introduce you to a trendy new pet. A

:18:45. > :18:53.hedgehog. The popularity of a soft little ball of cute. These bristly

:18:54. > :18:58.little fellows are the pet du jour. There was a big spike of interest

:18:59. > :19:03.and I was selling 20 or 30 a month. This man just quit his day job to

:19:04. > :19:08.breed hedgehogs full`time. They're funny and playful and very social.

:19:09. > :19:16.Social media is partly responsible for the fact, I mean the pictures

:19:17. > :19:21.are adorable. This hedgehog has nearly 78,000 Instagram followers.

:19:22. > :19:26.Positives? They are odorless, you can leave them alone all day and you

:19:27. > :19:32.can pet them if they have been around humans from birth. This one

:19:33. > :19:36.has not. Negative? They like to run around her cage all night and it

:19:37. > :19:49.might keep you awake. Their band in some states and they carry

:19:50. > :19:54.salmonella `` day are. I are not an animal that likes to be cuddled

:19:55. > :19:59.necessarily. This woman runs a shelter for abandoned exotic hats

:20:00. > :20:04.including hedgehogs. You can play with a puppy or a kitten. You can

:20:05. > :20:14.talk to a bird. What are you going to do with him? Stare at him and

:20:15. > :20:21.tell him he's cute? And we thank you for watching. We are always here

:20:22. > :20:40.online and we will be right back here tomorrow night. Tuesday will be

:20:41. > :20:41.changing quite a bit from hour to hour but not for everybody. It
