:00:00. > :00:00.Mayall. Time now for a look at the news as

:00:00. > :00:11.seen across the United States a couple of hours ago, in ABC World

:00:12. > :00:15.News with Diane Sawyer. Welcome. Tonight our exclusive 1`on`1 with

:00:16. > :00:24.the former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton coming public and

:00:25. > :00:29.private. From the firestorm over Benghazi, I wonder if people are

:00:30. > :00:37.looking for an I should have from you... And running in 2016. Marriage

:00:38. > :00:44.crisis and what she says now about forgiveness and survival. Tonight,

:00:45. > :00:49.Hillary Clinton, nothing off`limits. We go inside the shadowy world of

:00:50. > :01:03.the couple behind the shooting spree and Las Vegas. A good evening to

:01:04. > :01:09.you. We begin with an exclusive with the most talked about woman in

:01:10. > :01:13.America, Hillary Clinton. We talk about her decision to run for

:01:14. > :01:16.president or stay in private life. Her new book will be in stores

:01:17. > :01:23.tomorrow but tonight she talks about an issue that could play a role in

:01:24. > :01:35.any future decisions about running for president, and Ghazi ``

:01:36. > :01:41.Benghazi. Is there anything you personally should have been doing to

:01:42. > :01:48.make it safer? What I did was give a very direct instructions that the

:01:49. > :01:56.people who have the expertise and experience... That is personal to

:01:57. > :02:00.me. I am not equipped to sit and look at blueprints and determine

:02:01. > :02:07.where enforcement need to be, that is why we hire people who have that

:02:08. > :02:18.expertise. I wonder if people are looking for a sentence from you that

:02:19. > :02:30.begins with" I should have those `` done this differently. " I certainly

:02:31. > :02:36.would give anything on earth if this had not happened and I certainly

:02:37. > :02:43.would wish that we had made changes that came to our attention to make

:02:44. > :02:51.as a result of the investigation. But I also am clear in my own mind

:02:52. > :02:56.that we had a system and that system, of course, ended with me. I

:02:57. > :03:01.take responsibility but I was not making security decisions.

:03:02. > :03:06.Republicans in the house have now announced another investigation of

:03:07. > :03:14.Benghazi and Hillary Clinton to begin later this year. Is that

:03:15. > :03:19.another reason not to run? No, it is more of a reason to run. I don't

:03:20. > :03:26.believe our great country should be playing minor`league ball. We should

:03:27. > :03:30.be in the majors and I view this as a divergence from the hard work that

:03:31. > :03:35.Congress should be doing regarding the problems facing our country and

:03:36. > :03:39.the world. When are you going to decide when you're going to run for

:03:40. > :03:48.president? I will decide when it feels right for me to decide? Before

:03:49. > :03:52.the end of the year? I'm not sure. I want to get through this year and

:03:53. > :04:00.then take a deep rat and go through my pluses and minuses `` breath.

:04:01. > :04:07.Would probably not announced until next year? Not likely. So many other

:04:08. > :04:18.topics emerged including an old story that has resurfaced. An essay

:04:19. > :04:21.in a magazine by Monica Lewinsky. I also asked what lesson she would

:04:22. > :04:26.give from this vantage point to a younger generation. Do what is

:04:27. > :04:32.necessary to be resilient. Life is filled with disappointments and I

:04:33. > :04:36.have had a blessed life. I have had disappointments and setbacks and

:04:37. > :04:42.they have all played out in public for the second half of my life but

:04:43. > :04:48.everybody does. I respect anyone who, when they are knocked down,

:04:49. > :04:53.it's back up and it is really just about that. I learned that from my

:04:54. > :04:57.mother who had a really horrible childhood and was so mistreated and

:04:58. > :05:03.neglected and abused and could have become a whiner or a quitter and she

:05:04. > :05:08.didn't. She kept coming back and she told me that you could be not down a

:05:09. > :05:18.hundred times and what matters is getting back up `` knocked down. The

:05:19. > :05:22.brazen attack in Las Vegas targeting police. Tonight we are studying the

:05:23. > :05:33.faces of the husband and wife and the shadowy world that you will air

:05:34. > :05:40.rampage. `` fuelled their rampage. He was 31 and she was just 22. They

:05:41. > :05:46.were heavily armed and hell bent on murdering police. They equally good

:05:47. > :05:51.government and law enforcement with fascism. On Sunday morning, they

:05:52. > :05:56.entered this pizza restaurant and ambushed police officers as they ate

:05:57. > :06:04.lunch, killing both men and draping their bodies with a flag and a

:06:05. > :06:12.swastika as well as a note that said that the revolution had begun. They

:06:13. > :06:15.ran into this Walmart and were confronted by an armed civilian whom

:06:16. > :06:22.they shot and killed. As police moved in, a carried out a suicide

:06:23. > :06:25.say that they talked about killing say that they talked about killing

:06:26. > :06:32.cops all the time but no one bothered to call police. In April,

:06:33. > :06:38.they joined a standoff at a cattle ranch and here is the man talking to

:06:39. > :06:43.an affiliate. I feel sorry for any federal agents who want to come here

:06:44. > :06:50.and try to push us around. The couple was asked to leave as it he

:06:51. > :06:59.was very radical. Here is his final Facebook post. The real sacrifice is

:07:00. > :07:04.three innocent people who were murdered. Two police officers and a

:07:05. > :07:17.civilian. The parents of Bowe Bergdahl are

:07:18. > :07:22.expressing gratitude for the prayers and kindness from families across

:07:23. > :07:29.the country. While 7500 miles away, those Taliban fighters are enjoying

:07:30. > :07:38.their new life. But tonight, questions are still raging over the

:07:39. > :07:43.deal. We are looking for answers. As the five Taliban leaders are settled

:07:44. > :07:46.in here, it is the opulence of the country with the highest per capita

:07:47. > :07:53.income in the world. There will be monitored with a government with an

:07:54. > :08:01.already spotty record. The US as it will rely on the promises made to

:08:02. > :08:08.them. The Emyr would not talk about the deal he brokered with the

:08:09. > :08:12.Taliban. At a conference he was praised by a top US State Department

:08:13. > :08:19.official. The deal could not have been achieved without Qatar's

:08:20. > :08:22.diplomatic offices. And yet it is highly critical of how Qatar has

:08:23. > :08:30.monitored terrorist fundraisers operate in the country. We have had

:08:31. > :08:35.their work that they would not support al`Qaeda related groups. But

:08:36. > :08:41.they happen at least three countries. So now Bowe Bergdahl

:08:42. > :08:45.recovers from his captivity, the five free the Taliban detainees will

:08:46. > :08:52.join a long list of US enemies who have been welcomed with open arms.

:08:53. > :08:55.The Taliban has its own government provided building here. Nobody

:08:56. > :09:03.answered when we went to the door to ask what they planned to do. Qatar

:09:04. > :09:13.has asked the Taliban to keep a low profile. They are working to end the

:09:14. > :09:20.release of more Taliban detainees still in American custody.

:09:21. > :09:23.Back at home, the new headline about the growing scandal at the eight

:09:24. > :09:36.hospitals. Tonight we are learning just how many American veterans are

:09:37. > :09:42.at waiting for the care they need. Families of veterans have complained

:09:43. > :09:47.loudly. This man dies after a 15 month wait to see a VA doctor. It is

:09:48. > :09:55.impossible to get an appointment at the VA. All he got was run around.

:09:56. > :10:01.And now the own internal audit report released today confirms an

:10:02. > :10:06.outrageous 57,000 veterans have been waiting to see doctors for more than

:10:07. > :10:16.three months. 100,000 describing their weights as long. 90 clinics

:10:17. > :10:19.admitted they cooked the books. What was most infuriating is exactly how

:10:20. > :10:25.systemic and how widespread this was. Today the VA said it has

:10:26. > :10:30.already contacted 50,000 veterans to get them off the waiting lists and

:10:31. > :10:34.industry the doctors. On a visit to Phoenix, where the scandal began,

:10:35. > :10:41.the Secretary promised a total reset. This is not what our veterans

:10:42. > :10:43.deserve. This will not stand. The White House promised everything from

:10:44. > :10:53.firing senior administers to hiring more dock is. `` doctors.

:10:54. > :10:57.Much of the country is facing the threat of severe weather. 80 million

:10:58. > :11:05.people in the storm zone after a weekend of flood, hail and

:11:06. > :11:10.tornadoes. It was a dark morning for families

:11:11. > :11:15.in Texas, where nearly six inches of rain and damaging winds ripped

:11:16. > :11:23.through homes. In the north`east, flooding rains. We could have just

:11:24. > :11:31.gone down if we were outside. Here is the storm system that is on the

:11:32. > :11:35.move. That is not ice, it is hail. Sunday's tornado was quite a shock

:11:36. > :11:45.in Colorado. They are rare at 10,000 feet. This one managed to rip

:11:46. > :11:51.through and on the park. All these trees in the backyard got uprooted.

:11:52. > :12:00.Reported or confirmed tornadoes have hit 28 out of the past 34 days.

:12:01. > :12:04.Up next tonight, asleep at the wheel. Inside the devastating crash

:12:05. > :12:11.that critically injured Tracy Morgan. We investigate what this

:12:12. > :13:23.says about the risk of America's highways.

:13:24. > :13:30.Next tonight, and update on Tracy Morgan after the devastating

:13:31. > :13:35.accident on a New Jersey highway this weekend. He remains in a

:13:36. > :13:41.critical condition. Today the calls to 911 have been made public. It may

:13:42. > :13:46.have been caused by a growing danger of America's words.

:13:47. > :13:50.Prosecutors say the accident that left Tracy Morgan in the hospital

:13:51. > :13:56.was caused by a truck driver who may not have slept in more than 24

:13:57. > :14:02.hours. Tracy mortar can work in this limousine, stuck in traffic. The

:14:03. > :14:03.hind them, a truck moving way too fast swerves and slams into the

:14:04. > :14:14.limousine. Tracy Morgan is best known for

:14:15. > :14:18.playing a pampered TV star. Tonight he is in critical condition. His

:14:19. > :14:28.writing partner was killed in the crash. The trucker is now facing

:14:29. > :14:31.criminal charges. 317,000 big rig crashes into thousands of alone.

:14:32. > :14:42.Driver fatigue is said to be a leading factor. `` in 2014. Most

:14:43. > :14:47.Americans work 40 hours per week. They are not driving 80 dealers.

:14:48. > :14:56.Daphne has been trying to draw attention to this problem 18 years.

:14:57. > :15:02.The highways have got to be made safer. Everybody's families at risk

:15:03. > :15:08.out there. Trucker after trucker at this rest stopped saying they have

:15:09. > :15:17.not been getting enough sleep. Sleep is money and time. They pay you for

:15:18. > :15:26.the milage. Another thing that must change to avoid tragedies like this.

:15:27. > :15:29.Finally tonight, Hollywood learned something this weekend. Never

:15:30. > :15:35.underestimate the power of a story about taking a chance every time you

:15:36. > :15:41.have. It is a love story, no special effects. It has owned $48 million.

:15:42. > :15:55.Tom Cruise got just $29 million. It is inspiration that sold out at

:15:56. > :16:05.the features this weekend. The girl who laughed, loved and lived with

:16:06. > :16:06.cancer. This book had its own inspiration. She was a little girl

:16:07. > :16:48.in the 1990s. Then she empathetic. She was very funny. He

:16:49. > :16:48.says it was that spirit in You should know that. John says

:16:49. > :16:52.Esther taught him that a short life could be a good life. It was short.

:16:53. > :17:12.She died almost four years ago. Many of us had a dry and warm start

:17:13. > :17:21.the week. Some of us have a one. In a couple of places, a torrential

:17:22. > :17:22.thunderstorm. The showers will fade away
